So Wikipedia, you know them, you love them, or at least, you know, we used to love them, often described, according to this story, the last good website.
Starting point is 00:00:30 site on the internet. All right. All right. I know, you know, we, we don't like the other internet, you know, with that internet over there with that toxic social media and all that AI slop. Yeah, we don't like that. Well, they are not immune from that AI slop. The online encyclopedia claims human page views have fallen 8% year over year, according to their new blog post from Marshall Miller of the Wikipedia, I'm sorry, the Wikimedia Foundation. So this is Wikipedia, but we get a blog post from Marshall Miller of the Wikimedia Foundation. They believe that that is largely attributed to AI summaries appearing at the top of Google search results. The foundation works to distinguish between traffic from humans and bots.
Starting point is 00:01:20 And Miller writes that the decline over the past few months was revealed after an update to Wikipedia's bot detect. systems, which appeared to show that much of the unusually high traffic for the period of May and June was coming from bots that were built to evade detection. And so he points to the impact of a generative AI and social media on how people seek information, particularly as search engines are increasingly using generative AI to provide answers directly to searchers rather than linking to sites like Wikipedia. And as, you know, the younger generations are seeking information on social video platforms rather than the open web, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Well, Google, when asked about that, they disputed the claim. Ha! They said AI summaries reduce traffic from search. Ha! No, we dispute that claim. There's no way that that's true. That was Google. Wikipedia disagrees wholeheartedly with that.
Starting point is 00:02:26 AI is touching all of our lives, and Wikipedia is just going to have to try to find a way through it. I've got a couple ideas, but they probably won't listen to me. Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat Fat 5 Plus. You know, I was just speaking about Wikipedia. So a Wikipedia conference in Manhattan, and who doesn't love Wikipedia conferences?
Starting point is 00:03:16 especially if they're in Manhattan. Apparently got a little chaotic when an unhinged Ohio man jumped on stage and then pointed a gun at his own head. Really, really weird. I don't know, Connor Weston, 27, clutched the loaded revolver as he declared, I'm a non-contact pedophile.
Starting point is 00:03:40 I want to kill myself. Prompting WikiConference staff to quickly tackle and disarm him before cops took him into custody. We just, the staffers are stopped a gunman since, you know, hey, we're on the trust and safety team. You're expected to do this. We're not used to loaded weapons in the same room,
Starting point is 00:03:59 but it's usually prank behavior, but we're good. Weston, who wore a multicolored banner, draped over his shoulders, and a sign around his neck with the words, anti-contact, non-offending pedophile. Not funny. Not funny at all. He was detained at the conference.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Duh, no kidding. I was at Union Square Civic Hall. And the crowd says, I think we handled it pretty well, considering this was an unexpected thing. You know, it would just do what I did. We had to do that. There's a lot of people here in New York. A lot of times, we get a lot of weird people,
Starting point is 00:04:40 and this is what happened. Oh, so he's awaiting charges. No one was hurt, but the disturbing, ordeal was enough to rattle witnesses, I'm sure. One of the keynote speakers was presenting, and then all of a sudden there was someone on stage saying something about suicide. I didn't realize he had a gun, but apparently he did, but all I heard was get down and then get out.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Scary. Scary. So I was taking one lady, I was like a coffee break from an unrelated class on the fifth floor when alarm started blaring, alerting building occupants to someone with a gun on the second floor. Go back to the classroom and lock your door, which is what we did. And she was like, but it's glass. So I went back to where there was a wall there. That was probably a good move. But it was okay. I mean, he didn't shoot anyone or himself. He was just a troubled individual. And, but to be clear, he was anti-contact, not offending pedophile. So he's struggling
Starting point is 00:05:43 a little bit that he's a non-contact pedophile and I don't know why I wanted to kill himself but you know he should have called 988. You should have called 988 if you're looking to commit suicide maybe you call 988
Starting point is 00:05:58 and see if you can get some health. That's the lifeline it's 24-7. That's the lifeline and get some help because you know I know I've always said that if you feel like the world would be better without you in it, you're wrong. Now, there may be some people who argue with me over this guy,
Starting point is 00:06:22 since he is a anti-contact, non-offending pedophile. And according to what he said is that he was a non-contact pedophile, I still believe that he should not commit suicide. and so if you feel like the world is better without you in it, you're wrong. Even Connor Weston 27, who didn't believe that at the time. Hopefully he does now. Even when he, with his issues, you know, he can get some help. So as I think I mentioned yesterday, the Do Wally Festival is up and running.
Starting point is 00:07:09 It's the Festival of Lights. It celebrates the triumph of good over evil. And it began yesterday, and it runs through today. For those of you listening live, today is Tuesday, October 21st, 2025. And it's called Diwali. It's also called Davali or Deepavali. And it's still the same thing, the Festival of Lights. Well, they also continued their world record that they set last year with
Starting point is 00:07:39 more than 2.6 million lamps lit on the banks of this river that they're at in India, S-A-R-Y-U river in an area named Ayad-O-Y-O-D-H-Y-A. Ayadya. Thank you. That's the city. Oh, you're working today. That's awesome. So they celebrated by lighting these lights in the city.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Ayadya. Right. And they also did it along the river, Sarayu. Oh, you're not working for that word? Okay, fine. Was it one word a day now? We're on the contract? Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:25 So congratulations to all the people who set the world record. They retained their Guinness World Record set last year. Also, they had 2,100 Hindu priest. performing prayers in unison and their chance were echoing across the shimmering riverfront. So I was just darn beautiful. And I hope everyone is having a great time celebrating DeWally. And I told you yesterday that I thought they would say that definitely wasn't a hack. It was definitely an issue, an in-house issue.
Starting point is 00:09:01 And yes, that's what they said with the AWS outage. yesterday and still many people are feeling the effects of that today. It was a glitch. You know, those darn glitches. The outage appeared to be an IT issue rather than a cyber attack. AWS's online health dashboard referred to DynamoDB. It's a database system where AWS customers store their data. Amazon ruled out foul play, saying the root cause was an internal subsist.
Starting point is 00:09:35 system responsible for monitoring its load balancers, which prevent traffic from overloading its servers. Duh. So the incident appears to have been caused by some accident within AWS. It wasn't the result of any malicious intent. So like I said, it was a glitch. So, I mean, wow, thousands of websites and apps were offline for hours. Spotty service still persisted throughout the day yesterday, maybe even.
Starting point is 00:10:05 through today and this morning, although things seem to be back up and running smoothly this morning for everything that I could get reports on, but Snapchat and Venmo, and there were government websites and business websites affected because of this glitch. So it does renew the argument that, you know, we really shouldn't all our centralized internet infrastructure, you know, we need to be more secure and we need to have a, spread that out a little bit. Okay. Let's see. AWS is the world's leading infrastructure provider. It provides 30% of the market share. Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud are at 20% and 13% for Google Cloud. Wow. And the AWS outrage, obviously, is, you know, it was like the crowd strike outage.
Starting point is 00:10:57 That affected 8 to 1,5 million Windows systems and Fortune 500 clients. Yeah, that's what's going to happen. but this was not a hack. It was just a glitch. And you knew it was going to be that, even if it was a hack. Just know that it was an internal subsystem responsible for monitoring its load balancers, which prevent traffic from overloading its servers. And, you know, that appears to have been caused by some accident. And, man, we are on it, though.
Starting point is 00:11:31 We're on it, and we're fixing it. where it should be up and running, and don't you worry about it. There was no malicious intent involved at all. Okay, thank you. Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. What? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea.

Starting point is 00:12:25 Comexonterio.ca. J-Lo, you know where you love her. I always have had a soft spot in my heart for J-Lo. Don't look at me like that. But she was giving an interview with Howard Stern. And she said that the failed relationships that she's had with the men in her life, that she was not the problem, okay? They were not capable of loving her.
Starting point is 00:12:56 It was them that had the problem. Look, it's not that I'm not lovable. It's that they're not capable. That, wow, what a nightmare that would be. I mean, don't get me wrong. That's why you get a, you know, a, I don't know, 100,000 square foot home so that you can be on the other end. And you only have to see each other when you want to see each other.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Because after a little while, it's like, I can't listen to you anymore. Not that I'm not lovable, is that they're not capable. Right, J-Lo. It's not you. It's them. Holy cow. And then I saw where Hallie Berry, I mean, I've had a soft spot for Halley Berry for a number of years.
Starting point is 00:13:51 She's a little pissed. We talked about her, you know, getting a divorce and paying child support, but she's pissed. She has to pay her ex-husband $8,000 a month in support. And she calls that extortion and wrong. Yeah, welcome to it, Halley. That's the way it works. So she said that, look, I'm all. four, you know, paying for our daughter and although we have joint custody, but the additional
Starting point is 00:14:20 payments, just paying to him, I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. And it's really, this whole system ends up punishing one parent financially. Yeah, welcome, Halley, welcome to what happened to men for years and years and years. You just happen to be the big breadwinner and they're getting slammed with it this time. I know. I know it's sad, but you'll get over it. You know, we talked about this a little bit last week, but I see where
Starting point is 00:14:53 they're now actually owning up to it. According to this, Warner Brothers is projecting at least a hundred million dollar theatrical loss on one battle after another, and that's with DiCaprio and there's another movie that they say
Starting point is 00:15:09 he was great in, Oscar buzz. The film needs 300 million to break even given its $130 million production budget and the $70 million marketing spend. So $163 million worldwide won't get it there. I mean, that's where they're at right now. Week 4, $162.5 million globally. It's only, what, $61 million here in the States domestically. So good luck.
Starting point is 00:15:39 It's fourth place last weekend. so it's sliding away. And we also talked about the Rock and his smashing machine, which, by the way, is not in the top 10 this week. Wow. I think it's only made $15 million total of a $50 million budget, and I don't know what they did for promotion. But the Rock is dropping on the vine with the smashing machine.
Starting point is 00:16:08 So good luck to everyone. in the movie business these days. A Blackphone 2 was number one. They got 42 million global, 26 million domestic. Tron Ares number two for the second week, although it dropped a lot. Let's see, 103 million global, $180 million budget, plus that promotional budget for Tron Ares was huge too. So good luck to Tron Ares.
Starting point is 00:16:35 I don't know that's going to happen for that movie. So there's some struggling. going on at the movie theaters these days. And yet we still have, you know, Apple spending $750 million to steal Formula One from ESPN. I feel like that's a good steal from ESPN because Formula One is, are we actually, we actually have an audience for that? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Apparently Apple is going to pay $140 million to $150 million a year for exclusive U.S. broadcast rights over five. years, nearly double ESPN's current $85 million year. Select races and all practice sessions will be free to non-subscribers. Wow. While Apple TV subscribers get everything, including F1 TV premium and no extra cost, the F-1 grab appears to be part of Apple's hitting the gas on serious subscriber growth push. Okay?
Starting point is 00:17:34 They just rebranded from Apple TV Plus to Apple TV. Right, I took the plus. Thank you. That's about five. plus and it's got a competitor bundle with peacock breaking its typical walled garden approach okay so i that's good and i get the i get the whole thing i just don't get formula one racing so maybe just me sure that's a guy i i i fully expect it to be just me someone's going to tell me i love f1 okay fine good for you and then we have disney they're saying that the disney
Starting point is 00:18:10 Hulu unsubscribes doubled among the Kimmel's suspension. I mean, that was a good excuse to pull the plug on Disney and Hulu. So it looks like Disney Plus and Hulu took a big hit in September when Disney yanked Jimmy Kimmel off the air over comments he made about Charlie Kirk's murder.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Right. We all talked about that. We know what happened. Subscription. And he was only off the air for what? A week? Not even that long. Please. So a subscription analytics company Antenna, love them, found that Disney Plus cancellations doubled in September to 8% from 4% in August, while Hulu defections spiked to 10% from 5%. A double for both of them.
Starting point is 00:18:56 With some 3 million subscribers ditching Disney Plus and 4.41 million canceling Hulu. Big change. Now they claim that Kimmel's ratings are up, since he came back, that's really misleading because the first night was monstrous and he's gone down ever since. And while the numbers are a tad bit higher than what they were before he got suspended, there's not really not really up. But hey, you do what you got to do. It couldn't be that these platforms are reaching their straw that breaks the can. camel's back pricing platforms, are they?
Starting point is 00:19:41 No. When I got a great deal on a great gift at winners, I started wondering, could I get fabulous gifts for everyone on my list? Like this designer fragrance for my daughter. At just $39.99, how could I resist? This luxurious will throw for my sister. This gold watch for my partner? A wooden puzzle for my niece?
Starting point is 00:20:27 Leather gloves for my boss? Ooh, European chocolate for the crossing guard? At these prices, could I find something for every? Everyone at Winners? Stop wondering. Start gifting. Winners, find fabulous for less. Be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffrey JFR on X.

Hence, that's why I took this show, the daily show, just as a Fat 5 plus, to give you some stories that I did get to in the Fat Five
Starting point is 00:22:04 during Pat Gray Unleashed. So, I mean, you could make that happen, okay? You see, I mean, I haven't even talked about this today. Ah! Prince Andrew has announced that he's going to relinquish the use of his royal titles, including Duke of York, after discussions with the king,
Starting point is 00:22:24 holy cow, and other senior members of the royal. family. So they had an intervention with Andrew. Wow. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Andrew said, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of his majesty and the royal family. So the change takes effect immediately. Wow. It follows an ongoing scrutiny over his ties with Jeffrey Epstein. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the, you know, the alleged Chinese spy. And now he has, Prince Andrew has vigorously denied
Starting point is 00:23:05 all accusations against him. I mean, he stepped back for public duties in 2019. And so now, Sarah Ferguson, is simply known as Sarah Ferguson. The kids get to keep the daughters,
Starting point is 00:23:25 Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugene. I still get that. But Andrew is just Andy now. You know, they did stories about how his house was falling apart because he couldn't afford to keep it up without some of the, you know, the royal money. How is he going to do it now? I mean, holy cow.
Starting point is 00:23:46 I don't know. I mean, Andy literally could be living in a trailer park soon. And, you know, I doubt it. I mean, somebody's got to slip up some envelopes of cash to survive, right? I mean, the guy's done nothing but live off of these titles for his entire life. So, I mean, I don't know what he does to survive, but it's just like, I mean, is Andy going to go work at the fast food drive-thru? I think not. But he's not Prince anymore.
Starting point is 00:24:20 He's not Duke of York. So good luck when you call Andy. He's probably not going to turn around. I was waiting for you to call him Prince, but you don't have to anymore. All right. Who died today? Who died today?
Starting point is 00:24:37 This is an interesting story. So I saw over the weekend that Doug Martin, former NFL player, died, okay? And rest in peace, and he was running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I wish we would have had him last night. Maybe he could have done something against the Detroit Lions because I should not have stayed up
Starting point is 00:24:55 as late as I did watching that game. because the Lions kicked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' butt last night. But I digress. So he was an all-pro running back, Doug Martin. He was awesome for us. Now, he died. And I thought, oh, my gosh, I saw a little rest and peace to Doug on one of the NFL games on Sunday. And I thought, oh, darn it.
Starting point is 00:25:17 And I know my son said to Doug Martin died. I was like, okay, sorry. I mean, the man, he was, what, 36? 36 years old? And I'm thinking, okay, so what? killed Doug Martin. I was thinking, well, he had some sort of illness or something. Nope, he was killed by the police,
Starting point is 00:25:36 or when in police custody something happened. Okay. So he was struggling with police officers who were taking him into custody while they were investigating a break-in at a home in the Oakland in Oakland. Okay, so here's the deal. And then I thought, what? He was breaking into these people's houses? And then he got, no.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Okay, no. What happened was is that he was having some mental problems. And I don't know if it was because he was hitting the head a bunch of times as a football player, CTE issues. I don't know. But he had battled mental health challenges and that impacted his professional and personal life.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Okay. So his parents had sought medical help for him and contacted local authorities for support. He felt overwhelmed and disoriented, fled his home and entered a neighbor's home two doors down. That's when police decided that we needed to take him into custody. So he really wasn't breaking in to steal things. He was having an episode, right?
Starting point is 00:26:39 So ultimately, you know, I mean, his mental illness proved to be an opponent he couldn't run from. Got it. So when the police were taking him into custody, that's when he was transatlantic. transported to the hospital where he died. So the cause of death has not been released. The autopsy will be conducted, and the police said, look, he was involved in this break-in. Oh, that's a stretch, but he broke into the house of two doors down.
Starting point is 00:27:13 A brief struggle. Police were attempting to detain him, and that's all you're going to get from us. Okay, so rest in peace to Doug Martin, dead at the age of 36. We'll see if we ever find out exactly what happened as he was being taken into custody. Is it possible that Doug is now, you know, Doug George Floyd Martin? No, I'm just asking. I'm just asking the question. I don't know that because that doesn't.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I was just asking if that was his middle name or not. So I guess it wasn't. Okay, then I see a story about this Daniel Noraditsky, who is this chess guru dead at the age of 29. and I'm thinking, what, he's a prominent figure. You know, and he's really, I was reading about him. He was awesome chess player, and he was definitely ready to take on the world. I mean, he was captivating audiences already with his plays and commentary. And so we don't know, you know, what the chess community will do without him.
Starting point is 00:28:18 He was part of the Charlotte Chess Center. He was 29. Now, okay. So I think this is someone who probably should have dialed 9. 8-8-8 as well. It doesn't say. It just says that the Naradiski family, N-A-R-O-D-I-T-S-K-I, shares the sad news of Daniel's unexpected passing. Daniel was a talented chess player, educator, and beloved member of the chess community. We ask for privacy as the family grieves. That leads me to think that the poor guy killed himself.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I don't know that for sure, but very sad. And so just remember, I mean, he was beating people, you know, beating people in under 60 seconds. He was fun to watch. I was watching some of his games this morning. I just said, I feel like that's what happened, and that's sad. If you or someone you know need help, dial 988. It's the lifeline.
Starting point is 00:29:20 It's the helpline. It's free because the world is not a better place without you. in it. That's for sure. And I don't know that. Again, I don't know that. It just the way it's worded usually means when the family asks for privacy during this difficult time, urging everyone to remember the passion, his passion for the game, makes me think, yeah, he's probably, probably killed himself. It's really, really sad. So rest in peace to Daniel Noraditsky dead at the age of
Starting point is 00:29:55 29. All right, let's get out of here. I need a joke of the day. Let's see. This was sent to me chewing the fat at the blaze.com from Becky. Thank you, Becky. What's the difference
Starting point is 00:30:11 between black-eyed peas and chickpeas? I don't know. What's the difference between black-eyed peas? And chickpeas. Black-eyed bees can sing us a song. Dick bees get a hummus one.
Starting point is 00:30:36 So incredibly stupid. But I mean, because of what they're saying, now you got it. Stream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at theblaze.com slash podcasts.
