Starting point is 00:00:00 Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. How many of you are using Instacart? I know it's awful simple to use. You know, it starts off simple. Refill here, dinner ingredient there. And somehow it just, once the total hits you, it feels like a splurge. And it seems like prices shift for no reason.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Yeah. Well, there's a new study from Consumer Reports. that found some Instacart shoppers who ordered the same item from the same store at the same time were charged different amounts. Wait, what? Yeah, nearly three quarters of the products tested showed multiple prices. Some swung by nearly 25%. That's according to the report. Instacart, the stores set their own prices and some run test to figure out what matters most to consumers and how to keep essential items affordable, which is just a way of saying, hey, it's an experiment and it's what we're trying to do. Okay, we're just trying to do dynamic pricing. Oh,
Starting point is 00:01:16 okay, we're just going to call it dynamic pricing? Yes, that's exactly what we're calling it. That's where algorithms adjust costs in real time based on your behavior, location, and demand. So it started in air travel and ride shares. Now it's into grocery aisles. Certain stores even have digital shelf tags now that could enable quicker price changes. So some experts say this might eventually lead to lower costs. That's funny. That is funny.
Starting point is 00:01:52 So if you shop online, according to other experts, you need to clear your cachet, turn off your location, skip the store's app if you can, and because those rewards often cost you in data. So shop in person, of course, is the best way to do it. But, you know, if you need the travel points, go ahead and go ahead and do it online. Pay with cash. Uh-huh. That cash won't be around much longer.
Starting point is 00:02:18 I have a feeling. But just be ready. If you haven't already experienced it, dynamic pricing is here. Now, Target, one of the retailers, mentioned in the report said, oh, whoa, whoa, we are not affiliated with Instacart or responsible for prices on the platform. Huh, that's interesting because Instacart said
Starting point is 00:02:41 that stores set their own prices and some run tests to figure out what matters most to consumers. Interesting. Welcome! Welcome to Chewing the Fat, Fat 5 Plus. Having lived in Florida for a long time, it's been quite a while since I've actually lived in Florida.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Wow, it's been like 15 years. Still, I feel close to Florida in my heart. But I have seen a couple of areas where the beaches get closed because there's too much goo in the water and they don't want people to swim in it. Well, I see this story out of California that, you know, they have the sign that keep out of the water. Don't be going in the water. Well, apparently, according to this report, there are 22 billion gallons of raw sewage flowing into San Diego, California from Mexico. Oh, that's okay.
Starting point is 00:03:58 So according to this report, it's not funny at all. It is nasty. The Coastal Commission, the agency that's supposed to protect the coastline, approved a 600% increase in sewage flowing from Mexico into the United States. How about no? How about we decrease that right now? So the California Coastal Commission also promised sewage treatment upgrades more than 20 years ago. How are those going? Oh, they're still unfinished? Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:30 California has access to $48 billion in federal water funding, yet it hasn't been used to fix South Bay sewage crisis. In 2020, that would be five years ago. Gavin Newsom, the governor, signed SB 507, which decommissioned pumps and lift stations and allowed sewage to flow into the United States via the Tijuana River Valley. yeah so let's make sure that our beaches stay closed and our coastline just erodes and people can be sick but don't go in the water for sure do not in fact keep out of the water and as long as we're talking about ick let's talk about a woman in new york who claims to have bit into a rodent that was inside a burrito bowl that she ordered from chip
Starting point is 00:05:26 Chipotle, Mexican grill, on the Upper East Side. Now, the horrified customer alleges that she ordered a burrito bowl and a side of chips and guacamole from the Chipotle between East 84th and East 85th. I can't call it anything else but Chipotle. That's what the Reverend Al Sharpton called it. I have to call it Chipole. And so through, and she ordered it through the Door Dash app, according to the civil complaint. When she went to chow down on her order, she allegedly bit into a rodent contained within the meal she was consuming. Oh, man, that is nasty.
Starting point is 00:06:06 The rodent was in the plaintiff's mouth after biting into the meal. So the gnarly incident caused her to suffer severe bodily injuries, pain, shock, and mental anguish. Yeah, you know what? Usually I laugh at a did it. you suffer bodily injuries and pain. I'm sure you're suffering from shock and mental anguish. I don't know about the bodily injuries and the pain, but sure. If it was a rodent, absolutely sue them for that, too.
Starting point is 00:06:37 So the popular fast food chain, Chipotle, knew or should have known that his product was dangerous to members of the general public. Well, yeah, if they knew that there was a rat in your food, I'm sure they would have known, but I'm sure they didn't know. Chip-O-Lay has strongly denied the allegations in the suit, and they will vigorously defend ourselves and themselves against these claims. Oh, okay. So is she lying?
Starting point is 00:07:07 I'm not sure. I mean, I'm sure Chip-O-Lay believes that the health and safety of our employees and guests is our highest priority, and we have industry-leading food safety practices in place across our restaurants. DoorDash and an unnamed delivery man were also to, named as co-defendants, with the lawsuit arguing the delivery man employed through the popular app improperly and negligently deliver the product in an unsafe and unsanitary manner. Well, if he didn't know that there was a rat, a rodent in your food, I mean, he's just delivering the food. The exact injuries that this lady suffered biting into the rogue rodent or the type
Starting point is 00:07:46 of rodent allegedly in the meal is not immediately clear. All right, so the lawsuit seeks a money judgment, compensatory and punitive damages for the unlucky customer. Now, Chippole, their internal agents claim that they've analyzed the evidence, both in person and in photographs. Okay, so there's actual evidence. They believe and are confident the object is a chicken tender ligament. Oh, that makes it better. It does it?
Starting point is 00:08:26 I mean, it does because it's not a rodent, but it is a little agonizing that it still is a chicken tendon ligament. But it's not a rodent, so we're good, right? Yeah, I don't think so. Well, let's continue on with ick, shall we? Bonnie Blue, you remember her. Her real name is Tia Billinger. She gained fame for having sex with 1,057 men in 12 hours in a documentary about her career.
Starting point is 00:08:58 She is now facing up to 15 years imprisonment in Indonesia and fines up to $6 billion. I guess that's $541,000, which are the maximum penalties. So apparently, police in Bali, and they have yet to release additional information following the arrest. The controversial only fans model was with 17 male tourists, including 15 Australians who have since been released, on suspicion of breaching Indonesia's strict anti-pornography law. I guess she was driving them around in a thing called the bang bus. Man, how much fun does that sound? So they apparently found a large cache of items including professional video cameras,
Starting point is 00:09:49 mountains of contraceptives and erectile drugs, a small blue Ute with the words Bonnie Blues bang bust painted across the front. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Including, you know, addition content creator's own Instagram account in which she can be seen soliciting schoolies, teenagers over the age of 18
Starting point is 00:10:13 for pornographic activities. We're seized by police in Bali following a tip by concerned citizens. So she could end up with 15 years in jail. Wow, that's a long time. Now, I guess in Indonesia, in Bali, they have a thing called the invisible hand. So they can still prosecute her,
Starting point is 00:10:37 and they could say you're guilty, but then they have a thing called the invisible hand. And the invisible hand then comes in and says, ah, just get out of here, you're deported, and you can't be uh you can't come to indonesia ever again and we're going to take you to the nearest immigration office so according to the lawyers and attorneys and experts they believe that that's what will happen uh to bonnie blue but it might not uh the the old invisible hand might go oh no we really are invisible and she's going to be spending some time in jail because uh we do not
Starting point is 00:11:13 like the uh the pornography uh here in this country And we're not crazy about her grabbing these tourists and driving around in the old bang bus recording videos here in Bali. But you never know. You never know. I will keep your posted on what happens to dear old Bonnie Blue. Be sure to follow me on my social at Jeffrey JFR on X. Starting point is 00:12:58 every day as I'm part of the Pat Gray-on-Leash program. Monday through Friday, which of 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Central. And I do a Fat 5 on Pat Grey Unleashed every day. And that's what makes this
Starting point is 00:13:10 the Chewing the Fat-Fat with Jeff Fisher fat 5 plus. Just for you. Okay. I will say this. As much as I love you and everything about you and everything that is you. I may or may not be here on Monday because the Powerball drawing is a Saturday night. And the Powerball drawing is now $1 billion.
Starting point is 00:13:45 So if I were to win, let's say, the billion-dollar jackpot Saturday night, I would take the $461.3 million cash payout. And would I do another show after that? You know what? I'm going to go out on a limb just for you because, like I said, I love you. I will. I'll let you know that I won and that we'll be together again at some later point. I've got a few things to take care of with the $461.3 million cash payout that I'm going to
Starting point is 00:14:21 accept as I go to the Powerball offices. Now, let's say I don't win that, or I do win that, but before I win that, I win the Mega Millions drawing, which is tomorrow night, Friday the 12th of December, 2025. That is $70 million. Now, that jackpot is only $27.4 million of cash payout. Now, is it worth accepting and saying, hey, I won? You bet. It's the big Taylor Swift weekend, too. So tomorrow, the 12th is the big Taylor Swift day.
Starting point is 00:15:01 It would just be a double winning day. I mean, she's got her new six-part docu-series launching on Disney Plus tomorrow. The first two episodes drop. She's got the concert film dropping tomorrow. so it'll be a it'll just be a Taylor Swift day and what could make that even better would be a $70 million win
Starting point is 00:15:21 from megamillions but I don't know I don't know would it be better the answer to that is yes and it's official or official Katie Perry and Justin Trudeau are a thing now we've talked about them a couple of times here on chewing the fat
Starting point is 00:15:41 fat 5 plus but we know now that it is official, Katie, posted some intimate photos of her and Justin on their trip to Japan. And the photos was their first visit to Japan, which means, hey, we might have to come back to Japan. So it is a thing. It is a thing. Perry and Justin began dating earlier this summer and made their first public appearance in October. Yeah. So now they're taking pictures with each other as they travel the world together. Katie's 41. Justin is 53 and it was just the pictures are just so nice. They're cheek to cheek and they're eating together and it's just it's just love and how can you how could you go against love? I see also where Bill Murray is being reported. I don't know that
Starting point is 00:16:35 this is true, but according to vibe and it's kind of an unlikely coupling. Bill Murray, who is 72, now, watched the 43-year-old singer Kellis perform in London last week from the side of the stage. Oh, my gosh. And he's been spotted watching several performances, including her set at the Mighty Hoopla Festival in Brockwell Park, South London. So is that a thing? They were a couple.
Starting point is 00:17:05 They were together at a hotel. Apparently they'd be getting close for a while, and they met here in the state. and they've reported, I guess it's romance because Kellis' second husband died. I will say this. As I read that, the reported romance comes over a year after Kellis' second husband's death. And two years since Saturday Night Live Alam,
Starting point is 00:17:36 oh, Bill Murray's estranged wife passed. Yeah, they weren't together. But Kellis' second husband died. Bill, be careful, bro. Be careful. That's all I'm saying. So I was reading about Farrell Williams. I saw a story that was talking about Farrell and saying that he won't pick a side politically, his refusal to pick a side political. And, you know, the happy, don't really be happy super producer, gave a fiery speech in response to critics calling him a sellout amid backlash over his political comments.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Williams is also the men's creative director of Louis Vuitton. He refuses to pick a side, comparing them to some kind of magic trick. And that's, you know, and that's what got me thinking about Farrell Williams. I mean, the guy is just so creative and, you know, musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer, rapper, all of it, all of the above. And just so talented. I was reading a story about when he was a kid and he was, you know, just trying to make a living and make a couple of bucks.
Starting point is 00:18:43 He was working for McDonald's. And he got fired for McDonald's three times. Now, it's really unbelievable. But his first job, his first paycheck, first taste of chicken nuggets that he said he couldn't resist. And when he was two weeks in, the manager catches him and says, you're fired. You can't be doing that.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Then they give him a second chance at a second location. same thing he started eating some nuggets and they fired him again then another McDonald's gave him a job and he was sitting in the break room with nuggets the manager walks in dude what are you doing get out of here you're fired okay so I mean fired for McDonald's three times and he said he gave up on fast food and turned to music and that's what he created the Neptune's nerd producing for Jay Z and Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears I mean it's just everywhere then in 2003, and this was back in the 90s, I think, maybe late 80s.
Starting point is 00:19:45 And then, so in 2003, McDonald's calls, you know, remember them, the same company that fired him three times, said, can you write us a jingle? Yeah, he can. He came up with, I'm loving it. Three words, four notes, I'm loving it. And then he gets Justin Timberlake to record it. Justin was paid $6 million for one vocal, and the Neptunes produced it. It becomes McDonald's most successful campaign ever.
Starting point is 00:20:18 And it's run for 22 years, played billions of times, and it was created by Farrell Williams, you know, the guy you fired three times. Pretty awesome how everything comes full circle, isn't it? Wow, we are, we're digging a lot of stuff up out of the ground these days. Archaeologists uncovered a trope. of 225 figurines arranged in a star shape within an ancient Egyptian tomb. Apparently, it's a rare find, given how many sites were looted over the centuries. Symbols on the figurines suggest the resting site was intended for Pharaoh Shahang the 3rd,
Starting point is 00:20:56 though his body was missing. Huh. Shasheng, the 3rd, ruled during a civil war, so the research team believes political unrest likely foiled his burial plans. Okay. So they have that. Then we found a hermetically sealed Roman sarcophagus, frozen in time for 1700 years. And, of course, we have to open it. We have to open it.
Starting point is 00:21:23 And archaeologists said we have to open it with a lid had to be done in Hungary. And the first time it's been open in 1700 years. The tomb discovered by archaeologists with the Budapest History Museum. Love them, was found in Obuda, a northern district of Budapest. O'Budda was known as the Aquincombe in Roman times. Is that right, Aquincom? Yeah. In Roman times, serving as a major settlement located on the banks of the Danube River.
Starting point is 00:21:52 The tomb was found in a third-century burial ground among the ruins of abandoned houses. Remarkably, the tomb hadn't been opened by looters since it was buried. Its stone lid was secured by molten lead and metal clamps. Wow. Okay. So what did we find? Inside was a complete skeleton and dozens of artifacts, including two glass vessels, bronze figures, 140 coins. Excavators deduce that the grave belonged to a young woman when they found a hairpin made of bone, amber jewelry and gold-threaded fabric. So apparently the items have been given to the deceased by her relatives for her eternal journey. And you just screwed it up. Our returning journey is now nothing. She's out.
Starting point is 00:22:43 She's coming back to haunt you. The deceased was buried very carefully by her relatives. They must have really loved who they buried here. Yeah, they didn't want people messing with it. But then you guys come along and open that thing up. So, okay. Look what we found. Yeah, they hermetically sealed this sarcophagus.
Starting point is 00:23:05 And they didn't want people opening up. because they wanted her to, you know, be happy on her journey. But we came along and decided we know better. Never mind that they were secured by molten lead and metal clams. We're opening this bad boy. And we have 18,000 dinosaur tracks discovered along an ancient Bolivian coastline. That's a new record. Researchers have counted 16,000.
Starting point is 00:23:37 600 fossilized dinosaur footprints and 1,378 swim tracks at a site in Bolivia that showcase a variety of behaviors and different pheropods from the Cretaceous period. Oh man, it's a record number of fossilized dinosaur footprints and swim tracks. It's in a national park in Bolivia and hopefully we'll be able to study all that. Now, the Cretaceous period was, what, 145 million to 66 million years ago? And many bird tracks are also preserved. So that was published this week in their scientist journal, which, who doesn't read all of those. And this is the highest number of dinosaur footprints ever found for a single track site thus far, said Jeremy McClarty, the study co-author, a paleontologist and associate professor at Southwestern Adventist University in Texas.
Starting point is 00:24:33 I guess that's Southwestern Adventist University in Texas. It's right there in the state of Texas. In addition to preserving the most dinosaur tracks worldwide, it also preserves the highest number of swim trackways in the world. So we've got that going for us, huh? Okay. Who died today? Who died today?
Starting point is 00:24:55 Not, you know, 100 million years ago. All right, let's begin with Raul Malo. Raul Malo, front man. for the Mavericks dead at the age of 60, the dynamic singer songwriter who fused Latin rock and country and don't
Starting point is 00:25:13 pretend like you don't know about the Mavericks okay, and Rao O'Malo. He innovated Latin country band, the Mavericks and he fused Latin rock and country together. He died
Starting point is 00:25:28 one year after he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Huh. Wonder what could have caused that? Not that. Obviously, if it was that, they would have said something. Rest in peace to Raul Molo, frontman of the Mavericks, dead at the age of 60. Then we have Raphael Ethier, the Salsa Great and El Grun Combo de Puerto Rico leader. Don't pretend like you don't know who he is. He's dead at the age of 99. Man's been around forever.
Starting point is 00:26:03 around forever. The news was confirmed. The cause of death was not disclosed. The man was 99. Puerto Rico has lost a giant, a man whose life was dedicated to elevating our identity through the art and rhythm that distinguishes us to the world.
Starting point is 00:26:24 So rest in peace to El Grancombo de Puerto Rico leader, the salsa great, Rafael Ethier, at the age of 99. Then we have, well, he didn't die, but boy, I bet he wishes he had. The University of Michigan fired their head football coach Sharon Moore.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Now, he's in custody, and I'm not quite sure I understand why he's in custody. He was arrested yesterday. Now, the school fired him. The school fired him for cause for having an inappropriate relationship with the staffer. Huh. So he's got a wife. He's got a couple of kids. He's having an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. Who knows if she's the only one? I think she was pregnant. All the news will start to come out now of what happened.
Starting point is 00:27:16 And so when they fired him yesterday, then he apparently went to his home, got into a big fight with his wife. Huh? And then the police were called. And I don't know if the police were there because they're protecting her or if they're protecting him because he had mentioned self-harm? I just don't know. All those details will come out. But when first we tried to deceive. I mean, Sharon. The guy's making millions of dollars a year.
Starting point is 00:27:47 This year, I think he was scheduled to make $9 million, then $13 million. And he's got a wife and two kids. He's working hard, got a premier job coaching college football. Absolutely, one of the premier teams in school. in the country, and he still can't contain himself. And he's got to take care of a little bit at the side.
Starting point is 00:28:11 There were reports that he was paying her more money, and there were definitely signs that this was happening. Now, I guess Michigan had investigated this a little while ago and found nothing, and so then all of a sudden they found something. It's interesting to me. I'm just throwing this out there. Just throwing this out there. I'm sure that it's not true.
Starting point is 00:28:35 But it's interesting to me that the investigation earlier found nothing. And after he lost to Ohio State this year, and they're going to some crappy bowl game in Florida, sorry, I think whatever bowl game they're going to, it's not a crappy bowl game. They're playing Texas in the bowl game. They're not in the college football playoffs. And they all of a sudden, now we happen to find new information.
Starting point is 00:29:02 that's telling us that you have an affair and you've got this girl on the side and that goes against everything we stand for. Sure, we let you off the hook with a couple of suspended games for cheating on the field and stuff, but this can't stand. You've got to go. I'm sure losing to Ohio State and not going to the college football playoffs had nothing to do with Michigan eventually finding out about this affair and firing him.
Starting point is 00:29:30 So I'm sure of that. mind. All right, let's get out of here. Joke of the Day sent from Dwight to chewing the fat at the blaze.com. I'm not, I'm just going to read you what he sent. Okay, this is somebody that's working on jokes. I get it. Everybody's working hard. You're trying to, you're trying to create some funnies. I understand. So this is from Dwight. And this is the email that he sent me. What's the best thing about being a drummer in an all-girl band? And that's, of course, is when I would say, I don't know. What's the best thing about being a drummer? in an all-girls band.
Starting point is 00:30:04 The View. Think about it. Not really funny, but very true. So, you know, at least he's trying. At least he's trying. Stream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at Theblaze.com
