Starting point is 00:00:35 Four types of thinkers. What would that be? Well, the analysis of people's conscious thoughts showed that they cluster into four groups, but the categories are tentative, and people probably move between them. Oh, okay. The longer study with more people was needed.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Of course, there's always a longer study needed. the labels were designed to capture the vibe of each group. The groups are based on common themes in people's thoughts, but are not defined by a person's background or what they do. People in different groups did similar activities, and there were only minor differences in demographics, such as age, income, and education and socioeconomic status. So, four types of thinkers. The Warriors. Oh, boy. Are you a worrier? I think so. Worryers thought about world events, politics, and social issues, about 60% more than average. Oh, boy. Then they are the domestics. This group focused more on practical and household matters. Domestics provide about 50% more thought than average to chores, the home finances, but also stories. Oh, through movies, books, and TV. Oh, so the domestics maybe just sit on the couch.
Starting point is 00:01:59 All right. Bodily thinkers. Bodily thinkers is a thinker group. No other group knows more about their senses, feelings, and mental impressions of themselves and the world than this one. As a group, bodily thinkers are the youngest with an average of age 32 and nearly two-thirds are women. They have the highest rate of unwont. Intrusive Thoughts at 28%. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:02:30 And then we have the work-hard play-hards. Their minds are largely split between work and leisure, thinking about the job 50% more than average, while still thinking about hobbies, games, art, 25% more. This group had the highest income and happiness scores of all the groups. Oh, so the work-hard play-hards were happier. and had more money. Huh?
Starting point is 00:02:57 All right, so there you have it, the four types of thinkers in the world. The work hard, play hards, the bodily thinkers, the domestics, and the warriors. Which one are you? Which one am I, you ask? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:12 I'm thinking. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. Fat 5 Plus. This story really kind of ticked me off a little bit. Police in Georgia. put out a wanted post on a Walmart shopper because he picked up $30 from the floor and didn't turn it in. The Albany Police Department in Southern Georgia posted the man's picture after another shopper claimed they dropped the cash and reported the incident to police.
Starting point is 00:04:01 So they put this picture out to see, you know this man. He picked up money and didn't turn it into the employees. So, you shouldn't have dropped your money. That really ticked me off now, obviously, if I lost the 30 bucks. But apparently this person lost the 30 bucks and went to the front of the store and said, hey, I lost $30 as anyone turned it in. Okay, well, no, no one turned it in. Okay, well, I guess you're out the cash.
Starting point is 00:04:34 But no, we looked at the video, and we found it in. found a man picking up the $30 off the floor and now we're pissed. We're putting his picture out there because he didn't return it. That's agonizing. Maybe the person shouldn't have lost the cash in a public place. Now, come to find out, later the man returned the cash. So I don't know if he returned the cash once he knew that the picture was taken or, you know, and the person who called police decided not to pursue criminal change.
Starting point is 00:05:07 charges. What would those criminal charges be? A police department in Georgia? This is over $30, and he found it on the floor. That's tough. That's a tough one for me, man. I got to tell you. I mean, I appreciate people who find things, and, you know, I've left things in shopping carts before, and you want people to turn them in. but your first thought, my first thought is, when I left something in a shopping cart, it's gone, right? It's gone. You're doing everything you can to try to get it back, but it's gone.
Starting point is 00:05:47 You know, my wife left her phone in the shopping cart just the other day, and the store had it, thankfully. The last time, I think it was a long time ago now, I left my phone in the shopping cart. I was so angry. I pulled out of the parking lot, and I reached for my phone in the car, I was like, no, no, where's my phone?
Starting point is 00:06:06 And I stopped and I turned around and I'm going through all the bags. Then I realized I had left it in the cart. So I went back into the store because the cart guy was out there. And, you know, I asked him if we looked at all the shopping carts and he said, no, he didn't see any phone. But he gave me his phone. The cart getter there at Walmart gave me his phone. And he said, here, call it. So I called my phone and some guy picked up.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Hello? And I was like, yeah, this is my phone. Where are you at in the Walmart? And he goes, I'm just down this aisle. And he came around the corner. And we met in the main aisle. And he gave him my phone back. Now, was he going to steal my phone and just got caught because I called it?
Starting point is 00:06:50 Was he going, what if it was somebody else calling? I don't know. I'm not sure. Maybe he just realized that he had the phone and he was going to turn it back in when he got to the front of the store and he was done shopping. I don't know. Thankfully, I got my stuff back. But I hadn't planned on it. I mean, I did everything I could to get it back, and I finally did get it back.
Starting point is 00:07:13 But if, you know, I didn't find it, I don't know that I would have gone to the Walmart video cam to see who took my phone and then call the police. You know what? Now that I think about it, maybe we all should. But, man, that's tough. That's tough when you find some. cash on the floor at a grocery store and you know you might need to cash yourself so you deep pocket it that's just don't do it in today's world don't do it everything we do is on camera big brother
Starting point is 00:07:48 is watching whether the flock cameras go away or not and if you ever need an attorney uh don't call uh attorney neil calphus uh from san antonio because he you know he's a little hot water he uh demanded from a cash strapped woman in exchange for legally representing her jailbird brother. Now what got him his trouble is that he, I guess he never delivered on the promise. So he got the sex, but he didn't deliver on the promise. See, you're supposed to, if he'd have gone through with it, that all would have been fine. She said this lady, Julia said that she could pay him with money or her body. That's what Neil said to her.
Starting point is 00:08:34 And she decided, you know what, I'm going to go along with it. I'm going to let him have sex with me because he's going to get my brother out. Nope, not the case. So now he was charged with solicitation of prostitution and human trafficking. I tell you, this human trafficking thing is really something that bugs me. but that's another story all in and of itself. In a jailhouse call to her brother in March, she described the interaction with the lawyer in which he asked for sex
Starting point is 00:09:10 and gave her the cash that she used for a phone and rent. Okay, that's great. She got to pay her phone and her rent, gave up a little sex for the attorney. But then she refused later. Ooh. Ooh. And that's, that didn't.
Starting point is 00:09:29 not felt intense, and she said she nearly vomited after she finally gave in to the attorney and did it to help her brother. But I don't understand why he didn't help her out. He never became her brother's lawyer and helped with his defense or assisted in securing in his release. So if he had done that, everything would have been fine. Now he's in trouble because he didn't follow through. Here's a helpful hint from Chewing the Fat and Jeff Fisher. If you want someone to do something, uh, anything.
Starting point is 00:10:03 And you, and they say, Hey, I'll do it. But you got to give me sex. If you give them sex, uh, then that person should do it.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Like if I say, hey, uh, you know, you want this done? Yeah, well, you're going to have to have sex with me.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Okay. Uh, that's, uh, that means I have to do it then. That's the deal. And that's the whole me too movement. Right? All these.
Starting point is 00:10:29 me tours. Put me in the movie. Well, you have to have sex with me first. But you get put in a movie. So same kind of thing goes with this attorney in Texas. Should have helped her out. Should have actually been the attorney for the brother. Then you might have even gotten more sex.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Yeah. You could have had to charge her some more. Two and five Canadians will hear the words you have have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters. On September 19th, join thousands in Toronto for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Walk. Challenge yourself, friends, and family to walk 21 kilometers in support of life-saving research. Starting point is 00:13:37 I'm going to stick with my guns on this. And I'm also trying to have to have to have to be. haven't done it yet because I'm lazy and my wife's been out of town and she's the one that's going to help me do it but I'm going to set up a new YouTube channel and I haven't decided whether I want it to be a chewing-the-fat YouTube channel or a Jeff Fisher radio YouTube channel and I just am a little torn on that because I lost the old YouTube channel because YouTube decided that it was the wrong email and we sent a couple emails and now it's gone away. Oh, okay so all the people that were subscribed are just gone.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Yep, that's all. Oh, okay. So I guess that's the way it works. Anyway, I'll have a new YouTube channel soon. So thank you for listening and thank you for being a part of it. And be sure to subscribe on whatever platform you subscribe on. Rate and review if you can. 20 stars, best podcast ever, all of that muckety muck to make people learn about chewing the fat.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Okay, thank you. Did you know that the Bureau of Land Management has been apparently using some legal loophole to sell some of the 73,000 wild horses that roam federal lands as it strives to control the population. Animal welfare advocates say this profit potential is essentially subsidizing Mustang death. Oh my gosh, we can't have that. Well, it used to be rare for the government to sell the wild horses, even amid population control struggles. Sales have increased under Donald Trump. The Bureau argues it's dedicated to finding good homes for animals,
Starting point is 00:15:17 but experts point that there's an incentive to get the horses off their books. The government estimates it saved $56 million last year by selling 3,700 horses. Okay, good, good. So I get that horses, you know, people love horses. and we love them and we think they're so smart, and they're wise and noble creatures, got that, and we've had black beauty, and we have the year of the horse,
Starting point is 00:15:50 and we've got all kinds of saddle clubs and horse riding clubs. I get it, I got it, but we're selling wild horses, so, and we're saving millions of dollars by doing it. Good. That having been said, I didn't realize that we were doing that. I mean, I'm okay with it. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:16:15 I mean, if there's a population issue, I don't know that you can make them sterile by, you know, either, you know, hurting them up and shooting them up with some sort of dirt to make them sterile. Or you just have to get rid of a few. And, you know, so if there's 73,000 wild horses roaming federal lands, and I'm guessing there's probably more. I don't know that somebody went out with the helicopter and counted one, two, three, four, five, six, eight, nine, ten. Maybe they did.
Starting point is 00:16:47 But so I'm guessing that there's, you know, somewhere between 70 and 80,000 wild horses roaming federal lands. I mean, it's only so much we can do, right? And there's only so much land that they can roam. So if we have to get rid of a few, oh, well, and they're doing their best to find home. for them and then the question is are they that's what they said so you know they're doing their best to find homes for them that's what they said and if they can't find a home darn the luck off to the glue factory or you know i guess we can't cut them up here to eat in america can we are there are their horse butcher shops no stop thinking like that jeff okay so the u.s open is coming up here in a couple of days actually i think
Starting point is 00:17:37 right? Or did we have it already? So it's ongoing. It starts going right now. The 23rd of this month, today if you're listening live, is the 31st of August. Tomorrow will be September 1st. So the U.S. Open started last week at August 23rd, and it goes through September 13th. Well, the reason I bring up the U.S. Open, and I guess it really doesn't matter the exact dates. But, you know, the other day go through all kinds of tennis balls. and I was just reading this story about what happens to all the tennis balls. So I don't know how many, according to this, tennis balls are replaced after the first seven games of a match. After that, they're swapped out every nine games for brand new ones.
Starting point is 00:18:28 So following a grand slam rules, that means the same ball is usually in play for just 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how long the games live. last. And they get swapped out often and tennis pros are incredibly picky. Yeah, I mean, you want different balls feel different at this. You can quote me on that as well. Different balls feel different, whether they're, you know, fuzzy or fluffed up or whatever the case may be. So it doesn't say a typical match goes through six to eight dozen balls. Wow. So marathon five set thrillers can burn through even more. Suddenly there's
Starting point is 00:19:05 70,000 tennis balls I mean, that's through the whole match is what they're doing, right? That's what they claim that they use around 70,000 balls. Wow, I mean, that's just unbelievable. So U.S. tennis balls are sold to fans. Aw, isn't that special.
Starting point is 00:19:25 You get to have tennis used because they have U.S. Open used balls. I got to stop doing this story. This is opens up too much. The other balls get donated and repurposed. Yeah. I mean, I guess it's okay if you have repurposed balls up there on the tennis court.
Starting point is 00:19:43 All right, I'll stop now because it's going to get a whole lot worse. What I thought was just going to be a little cute little story about how many tennis balls are used at the U.S. Open turned into way too much for my mind. And so we're just moving on. Yes, the U.S. Open is taking place. And during the course of the entire U.S. Open, when they use around 70,000 tennis balls,
Starting point is 00:20:06 and then they get repurposed or sold. There, I did it. Two and five Canadians will hear the words, You have cancer. That's why every step and dollar-raised matters. On September 19th, join thousands in Toronto for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation walk. Challenge yourself, friends, and family
Starting point is 00:20:27 to walk 21 kilometers in support of life-saving research. Together, we can carry the fire. and help create a world free from the fear of cancer. Register today at pmcf walk.ca.ca. So we haven't talked in a while. What are you watching? You know, what are the shows are you watching? Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:20:46 That's interesting. Yeah, I'm watching the Linus. The new season of the Linus has been really, really good. Disappointingly, to me, the new season of Reacher is really good. It took me a while to be able to watch Reacher, because of Alan Ritzen's his own dushiness but I got through it
Starting point is 00:21:08 and I the problem is Prime hooked me and they did it they did it in a way that I'm a little frustrated with okay so Prime I see Reacher the new show Reacher and I click on it and I'm trying to talk myself into
Starting point is 00:21:26 watching it get past Alan you love the show it's been really good and this season has been really good but so I look on Prime and all eight episodes are up and I'm like okay I can do this let's binge through them let's get through them let's see where we're at and I hit and I don't know how and so then then I see where only really only what I missed was the first three episodes because four five six seven and eight are up their thumbnails are up but they're not available to watch yet that really is agonizing so I was ready to binge through them bash through them and let's go
Starting point is 00:22:03 go and then you get locked in and you have to wait until they get released every week. So you got to put yourself on a weekly schedule for for Reacher. Same with Linus. That's on Sundays. I think Reachers is Wednesday, I think, but I don't remember. I can't watch it in the middle of the week. So I catch it on Friday or so. But I know I catch, I can't catch too much on Friday because my wife and I are watching Runway and Project Runway.
Starting point is 00:22:38 And so I'm hooked on Project Runway with my wife, the latest season. It's pretty incredible. But then I watched a show on Apple called Lucky, which is really good. And I watched Sugar on Apple, which I really like. There's two seasons. I really like that show. If you have a chance to, if you have Apple and you can watch it, sugar is really good.
Starting point is 00:23:03 Lucky was good, but I, you know, I would have ended it differently. However, they didn't ask me. I know, I know. And all they got to do is email me, and then, you know, we can work out of time to talk to each other. No problem.
Starting point is 00:23:17 They don't want to do that. And then, uh, sugar was really good. And sugar is with, what's his face? Uh, Colin Farrell. And, uh, it's really interesting how,
Starting point is 00:23:30 He's a kind of a private investigator, but I'll leave it at that. Because if I tell you, go into more about sugar, it spoils it for you. And you know me. I don't want to be a show spoiler. At least today. Tomorrow I might change my mind. Who died today? Who died today?
Starting point is 00:24:07 Well, let's begin with King Harold V. of Norway. King Harold V. of Norway, Europe's oldest monarch has died at the age of 89. He was 35 years on the throne. That was announced by the Royal House of Norway. And now the new king, his son, takes over. King Hackon, the 8th VIII of Norway. And he paid homage already to his dad with an address to the nation since becoming sovereign. And his voice briefly filling with emotion when evoking his widowed mother, Queen Sonia, and he loved his dad.
Starting point is 00:24:51 He said the king was well loved. And, you know, he was the king for 35 years. So it was time for him to get out. And he did. And he passed away. King Harold V. dead at the age of 35. No.
Starting point is 00:25:08 after 35 years of being king he didn't king king harold v dead at the age of 89 yeah he had 35 years on the throne and now king hackron hechran a h a k o n
Starting point is 00:25:25 v i i the 8 of norway is the new king so king harold v has passed away and is dead at the age of 89 Then we have Vanessa Blanca. Vanessa Blanca, don't pretend you don't know who pop singer Vanessa Blanca is.
Starting point is 00:25:46 She has passed away at the age of 30. After kind of a freak accident in a bathroom, pop singer Vanessa Blanco has died. She is a Filipino star. I'm just telling people who, you know, don't know. I'm not telling you. She was found as a member of GMA's musical group, The Sugar Pop, before pursuing a solo career. She had a severe head injury in an accidental fall.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Her cousin said she was confirmed. She was staying in a condominium in Manila when the tragedy occurred. So apparently she fell and hit her head on the bathroom counter. and emergency services were called, and they rushed her to the Manila hospital, but they could not save her. Wow. Really sad. So rest in peace to Vanessa Blanca, dead at the age of 30.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Then we have Frank Beard. Frank Beard. You knew him as the drummer for ZZ Top. He was the drummer for ZZ Top for years. He has passed away at the age of 77. I guess he had a brief stay in hospice, and he died on his ranch in Texas. So rest in peace to Frank Beard, dead at the age of 77.
Starting point is 00:27:19 I feel like there's so many deaths that I haven't gotten to. I mean, we just keep going down the list. I don't know how long this show is going to be, because next is Shelley Fabre. Shelly Fabre. You know, everybody loved her. She was a star on coach and the Donna Reed show been around forever. She died at the age of 82.
Starting point is 00:27:42 The family confirmed that she passed away after a brief illness. Her family and friends say she was the source of love and strength, laughter, and comfort. Yeah, she was also the source of food on the table. Shelly Febrey, dead at the age of 82. And we can't go without me. mentioning Hayden Panetary, if Aden Panetary, dead at the age of 36, possible overdose,
Starting point is 00:28:09 a cardiac arrest because of an overdose. I know she'd been in rehab and in and out of things and stop doing things from now. That's what happens. You know, you go into rehab and you come out and you're good, but then you want to get back into whatever drug you were using, but you use the same amount you use before rehab. That's the wrong way to do it.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I mean, it's just sad. Hayden Panetary, dead at the age of 36. Then I can't do who died today without mentioning Plas Johnson. Now, Plas died in July 15th, but we missed it. And so I want to give him his due. And if you don't look at me, like you don't know who Plaz Johnson is plaz johnson the uh saxophonist from the pink panther theme come on now uh he is was 94 rest in peace to plaz yeah whenever you hear that not only should you think of the pink panther which i'm sure you do
Starting point is 00:29:41 you should think of plaz jansen because that's him plaz johnson rest in peace to plaz johnson dead at the age of 94. All right, let's get out of here. I will leave you with a joke of the day. This is kind of a, I had this turn up on my timeline, and I started, I couldn't believe, so I don't know if it's true or not. Okay, I don't know if this is true or not.
Starting point is 00:30:08 I'm going to go with it's not true, all right? A guy by the name of Calvin Rixon, an engineer from Texas A&M University, has designed a braw that keeps women's breath. from jiggling, bouncing up and down, and stops nipples from pushing through the fabric when cold weather sets in. Now, I know what you're thinking to yourself.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Who wants that? Well, exactly. And so after the news conference, announcing the invention, a large group of men took Mr. Rixon outside and kicked the crap out of them. Because they thought the same thing. Who wants that?
Starting point is 00:30:51 Oh!
