Starting point is 00:00:00 With Amex Platinum, you have access to over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide. So your experience before takeoff is a taste of what's to come. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Blaze Radio Network. And now, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher. Those of you that are lactose intolerant may have a little bit of an issue. Lactate milk is now being recalled in 20.
Starting point is 00:00:30 27 states due to a serious allergy risk. So if you are used to drinking lactate milk, slow down a little bit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, who we love, say that this 27 state recall is impacting the 96 ounce cartons of lactate milk. And it's being recalled because of trace amount, I'm sorry, the possibility of trace amounts of almonds were in the milk. Can't have that.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Cannot have that. We cannot have trace amounts of almonds in the milk. And there's been no reported illnesses from this possible trace amounts of almonds in the lactate milk. But we're going to recall it anyway. The FDA stressed that the milk had the potential to cause severe reactions. and if you are allergic to almonds, reactions can range from itching and hives to difficulty breathing, vomiting,
Starting point is 00:01:34 loss of consciousness, anaphylaxis, you can be in big trouble. So, Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming have been recalled. with the lactate milk, the 96 ounce container.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Don't do it because it possibly could have almonds in it. So trace amounts, but still have almonds in it. I don't even think we got the other day to the waffle recall. What is happening with our food supply? So the Food of Drug Administration issued an alert, saying that Codiac Cakes LLC, based out of Park City, Utah, 7,300 boxes of its Codiac protein-packed power waffles, buttermilk, and vanilla.
Starting point is 00:02:38 And it was initiated due to the presence of soft plastic film in the products. So if you were eating your Codiac waffles, man, those protein-packed power waffles. And you said, man, that kind of feels like a little piece of plastic. it probably was. They were recalled in Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. So if you like those Kodiak waffles or the lactate milk settle down because they've been recalled. And the milk may have trace amounts of almonds in it.
Starting point is 00:03:23 And the waffles could have some kind of plastic film inside the waffles. Yum. Yum. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. So Hurricane Helene, it is Hurricane Helene now. Evacuations have begun as it approaches Florida. The storm definitely gained strength yesterday.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And it's going to make landfall in the panhandle of, Florida. Thousands of Florida residents have been evacuated and states of emergency have been declared in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Now if you look at the cone of death from Helene, it's in the Gulf of Mexico now and it's looking like it's going to make landfall come Thursday night, Friday morning, up in the armpit of Florida. And then the cone of death has it tracking across Florida. That's the panhandle of Florida. And then heading into Georgia and going up through Georgia into Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:04:39 But it's a wide swath of damage with rain and winds coming from Alina. And they're projecting that Alina is going to strengthen quite a bit before it makes landfall. So it's a one already. It could, you know, they've predicted up to a category four as it, you know, prior to making landfall. So it's going to do some damage. No question. So if you're anywhere in the evacuation zones for Helene, I would heed those warnings and get out of its path because you don't want none of that. You just don't. You just don't. And I see where there's actually another hurricane out in the Atlantic, but it is Hurricane Isaac and it is heading in the other direction.
Starting point is 00:05:27 really. I mean, the cone of death has it heading away from the United States. So there's really no worries from that unless you're in the shipping or airline industry and have to fly around Isaac or through Isaac. I also see where the NFL stadiums just made a deal. The NFL actually made a deal with FEMA or an agreement. Well, I said a deal, but it's an agreement with FEMA that stadiums would be used. used in partnership that would allow people to use the stadiums during disasters. Oh, so
Starting point is 00:06:06 participating stadiums could be turned into emergency shelters, temporary hospitals, or other venues needed during such events. Oh, okay. So the agreement was formalized by FEMA and the NFL by signing a memorandum of understanding. Okay, well, we signed a memorandum of understanding at the league headquarters in New York City
Starting point is 00:06:29 with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. So far, MetLife Stadium, home of the jets and the New York Giants, Accresher Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lumenfield, home of the Seattle Seahawks, and Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are the four venues that have signed on.
Starting point is 00:06:47 That might actually be used during this storm. SoFi Stadium, home of Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, is expected to join soon. So that's kind of interesting that they're going to use those stadiums. Interesting that all those stadiums that have signed on are not stadiums with roofs. So I guess you get to go inside, but it's a big storm out. We're just going to put you on the field.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Yeah, here's a TED. Go ahead. Good luck. God bless. Take care. So that's, I mean, that's kind of good news, I guess. And you're able to stay there during the state of emergency, but as soon as the state of emergency is called off, Does the NFL get to kick you out?
Starting point is 00:07:28 Does the home team say, hey, we got a game coming up. Get out. You're not going to be staying in the lobby any longer. You know, you can't be on the field. No, we're not housing you in the locker room. Get out. So, whatever. It's at least, hopefully it will help protect humans and save some lives.
Starting point is 00:07:48 But it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Remember way back in 2012, way back in 2012. I mean, you can't even remember that far back, really. The Blackstone Investment Group paid $1.9 billion to buy Motel 6. $1.9 billion to buy Motel 6.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Now, I will ask you this question. When's the last time you stayed at a Motel 6? I cannot remember. I don't know that I ever have, but I for sure haven't stayed at a motel 6 in a long, long time. I mean, I guess there may have been a time when I stayed at a Motel 6.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I just, I don't remember it. You know, if we were traveling somewhere, it needed an actual place to stay at 3 o'clock in the morning. And, you know, there was a, the Motel 6 was the only place that had a room available. I guess that could have happened. But they own Motel 6 and Studio 6, which is the offshoot.
Starting point is 00:08:45 They have 1,500 locations in the U.S. and Canada. And 320 hotels in 35 states now. So, again, in 2012, Blackstone paid $1.9 billion for the Motel 6. Well, it just sold to the Indian hotel chain, Oyo. O-Y-O, I guess that's how you pronounce that. Oh, yo. They acquired G-6 hospitality, the owner of Motel 6 from Blackstone, for $525 million cash. so I guess after 2012 and 1.9 billion,
Starting point is 00:09:27 you're just happy to get anything you can out of it. And look, we'll give you $525 million. And we'll take over the dumps for you, okay? And Blackstone was like, yes, please, no problem. Just put the money in that suitcase over there, and the hotels are, I'm sorry, the motels are all yours. I mean, people don't even remember. that Motel 6, I mean, 100 years ago.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I mean, they wanted to, they started calling themselves Motel 6 because they were charging $6 in cash in for a night's day. You're not getting those days back. Plus, don't ever forget. I mean, for years, they had the, we'll leave the light on for you guy. What's his name? I'm Tom Bodette.
Starting point is 00:10:17 I'm Tom Bodette. And we'll leave the light on for you. I think he went to, for a while and then they brought him back but he's been a spokesman for motel six for you know forever uh you know i'm tom bodette and we'll leave the light on for you so i'm just reading about tom bodette now and uh according to this in 2005 so he started uh with uh the i'm tom bodette and i'll leave the light on for you i guess back in 86 and then in 2005 they started using him as uh the voice for their wake-up calls hoping to bring a more personal touch to people's day
Starting point is 00:10:56 by using their spokesperson's voice. And he was also featured on Motel 6 first podcast released for the holidays. Oh, the Motel 6 podcast? Wow, I guess everybody really does have a podcast. And then they brought him back for a gig because I still hear him out there. I don't know if they're fill spots or whatever,
Starting point is 00:11:16 but I still hear, I'm Tom Bodette and we'll leave the light on for you. then he uses another line too so it used to be just i'm tom bodette and we'll leave the light on for you and now he says something else at the end too and i can't remember because i you know i barely listen i hear them on overnight radio when i'm driving into work but uh he's still there still banging out uh banging out voice work for hotel six or motel six i don't know though now with the new indian hotel chain owning the place uh tom might be out This episode is brought to you by Peloton.

Starting point is 00:12:42 It's specifically in Xinjiang. China. And X-I-N-J-I-A-N-G. Shin-jong. Yeah. It's a mix of cow and goat cheese. The sample dates back 3,600 years to the Bronze Age, pre-dating. a 3,200-year-old sample buried alongside an ancient Egyptian mayor.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Decades ago, researchers noticed a white substance scattered on the necks of three mummies in the X-I-A-O-E cemetery in Western China. Zio-Heep. I'm sorry, what was that? Zio-e. And I guess my girl only does, you know, I guess part of her contract is, you know, one word of story. Zaiwi in that particular cemetery in western China. Now, so after isolating various DNA samples, paleontologists confirmed the substances included goat and cow DNA,
Starting point is 00:13:46 as well as bacterial and fungi species used in modern day kefir grains, K-E-F-I-R grains. The cheese was likely soft and tangy at the time, and its burial could suggest that how valuable it was. The bacterial strains also tell us more about the history of Kiefer, K-E-F-I-R, suggesting it originated not only in Russia, but in Tibet. Okay, I'll give in. Kaffir. Okay, like I said, Kaffir.
Starting point is 00:14:24 I'm not sure why she didn't do the other word, but she just did. gang and she didn't do Zioi, but she will do K-E-F-I-R K-E-F-I-R. Were you on a break or something when I did the other word? Anyway, apparently, the genetically isolated Zioia people was a group tied to survivors of the last
Starting point is 00:14:57 ice age. So they threw this cheese on their dead? Weird. Weird. I'm sorry. Weird. Are we sure that they threw this cheese on them on purpose? Or was it because they were, I mean, because it was worth a lot or because it was, they felt like it was cow poop and they and they threw it out of them because they were mad at them and then it turned into cheese because it's been there for so long? I don't know. I'm just, it's just weird. But we do know that now they claim it's the world's oldest cheese. Okay, imagine for a moment you're about to make the biggest financial decision most people make in their lives, and that's either buying or selling a house or both.
Starting point is 00:15:43 And what it would mean to not only have help, but to have the best help available. Imagine what it would be like to not have to worry about whether you're going to be able to find the right contractors to do the repair work, the right photographer, the right mortgage company, the right, everybody you'll need to make this not only a smooth process, but hopefully a profitable one. Well, good news. You don't have to just imagine. A real estate agents I trust exists and is there for you. A real estate agents I trust pairs you with the best real estate agent in your area, someone who knows the best practices, someone who understands the crazy housing market, someone who's a team leader and a closer. Someone you can trust.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Huh, that's why the name is real estate agents I trust. Pretty much says it all, doesn't it? So if you're thinking about buying or selling a home or both, get in touch with them. You'll see exactly what I mean. Real estate agents I trust.com. Real estate agents I trust.com. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Good news for the Tony Awards. They're going to return to Radio City Music Hall. I'm not really sure that is a big deal, but it certainly is to them. You know, they want to make that announcement. So the awards show is set to take place at Radio City on June 8, 2025, in a ceremony celebrating the 2024-25 Broadway season. Now, CBS remains the broadcast partner for the ceremony, which runs live from 8 to 11 p.m.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Eastern on the CBS Television Network, and hopefully it'll be streaming on Paramount Plus as well. Good news that Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss, who recently produced the DNC, are executive producers and showrunners for White Cherry Entertainment, which produces the Tony Awards in collaboration with the Broadway League. I love them. And the American Theater Wing, love them. And Weiss will serve as director of the award show. Jack Sussman is also an executive producer.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Plans for the pre-show, which typically airs on Paramount streaming services. Yeah, you got to have that. They have not been announced yet, but I'm sure they're going to let us know. So that's something to really look forward to that the Tonys will return to Radio City Music Hall. Speaking of the Tonys, I see where Lynn Manuel Miranda, Miranda, you remember him. He was a big shot there for a while, and then he just went away. Well, he is now going to lead second company of Broadway's All-in Comedy of Comedy of, about love.
Starting point is 00:18:37 And it's going to be appearances by Ady Bryant, Jimmy Fallon, David Cross, and my favorite others. So Lynn Manuel Miranda will be back in January on Broadway and I bet and this is just me thinking out loud
Starting point is 00:18:53 I don't know this. It's not announced here. We have no idea. I would not be surprised to see some of this Broadway play be revives. on the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Wouldn't that be something? And look, I love Lynn Manuel Miranda. I mean, he's a great talent in his Hamilton creator. I mean, that was awesome. No question. I was forced to listen to every song on Hamilton. I was forced to watch the play. I was forced to pay for my family to go see Hamilton at the theater,
Starting point is 00:19:33 not on Broadway and you know it was all good but then then he made that in the Heights movie which was just oh I was just agonizing
Starting point is 00:19:44 so Lynn I mean I hope it all works out for you and all in the comedy about love on Broadway and then I bet you it'll be part of the Tony Awards as well
Starting point is 00:19:56 so can't wait for that and another thing that I kind of can't wait for although I'll probably never see it in person MGM Resorts is taking the famed sphere, you know, the one in Las Vegas, to Dubai. So they're making a Dubai sphere for $2 billion. And they're hoping that this will redefine the city's entertainment landscape.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Yeah, I will say it probably would. Now, it's smaller than the one they built in Vegas. Why would Dubai build one that's smaller than the one in Vegas? I guess maybe they just Vegas says, no, you can build one, but not. It can't be as big as ours. So the Dubai sphere will stand at 110 meters. And the Vegas is 112 meters. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:48 So it probably is that. It's probably like, no, you can't be bigger than Vegas. But it's going to be darn close. It's going to be, you know, offer the immersive experience, 300 guests at a time. 300 guests at a time. That's it. located on Blue Waters Island will be part of a luxurious
Starting point is 00:21:06 complex that includes MGM Bellagio and Ria Hotels. It will focus on telling the story of Dubai's rapid transformation from desert to megacity using 3D light and sound
Starting point is 00:21:23 effects. Boy, I bet you that will be cool. I actually would like to see it, but I would hope that they would use it for other events as well. But I guess not. I guess not. You're going to the sphere in Dubai. If you want to see something else, go to Vegas. Okay? That's where the big one is. But
Starting point is 00:21:40 we've got one here in Dubai that's a little bit smaller and we just want to focus on the rapid transformation of Dubai from desert to megacity. And it only costs two billion dollars.
Starting point is 00:21:56 You know, speaking of a billion in Dubai and now a billion dollars in New York City, which doesn't seem like that much money anymore. My man Robert Duch Niro has just, or he's getting ready to open his wildflower studios in Queens. It's the world's first ever vertical film studio and production sound stage. The complex spanning 765,000 square feet, hosts 11 sound independent stages, stacked on two levels. Imagine by developer Adam Gordon with the help of Danish
Starting point is 00:22:35 Stark Attachy, Barcahawking Gills. It's beautiful. Featured angle concrete panels. I guess after noticing the city's lack of sound stages five years ago and the pent-up demand for them, so he's decided De Niro, I'm sorry, Dush Nero, and his eldest son, Raphael, it's a family venture, soon joined.
Starting point is 00:22:58 I wonder if the son actually spent any money. average is using dad's money, joined other investors together with a non-disclosed lender and another financier for a billion dollar project in New York City. So that's great. I mean, we're going to have, they're talking about the special attention of the studios commissary. What are they going to, what is Duce Niro moving in the Nobu franchise? Okay. We just want a bagel. Okay. I just want a bagel. I want some coffee. Let me have food services. I don't need no boo as I'm in the middle of shooting some commercial.
Starting point is 00:23:38 But I guess maybe Dux Nero feels that you do. So it's going to be great. Porting to Dux Nero, New York is the greatest back lot. And we have extraordinary talent, actors, craftspeople, above and below the line. So other cities are all good. I've shot in all of them. But it's just at the bottom line. as most people would rather be in New York.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Eh, I don't know about that, Bob, but if you say so. So look for that. Look to see how successful Dush Niro's new Wildflower Studios does in Astoria Queens. Because when you think of New York and NYC, man, you think of Astoria Queens. Marshall's buyers travel far and wide, hustling for great deals on other. Amazing gifts, so you don't have to. If you can, subscribe to Blaze TV and get $40 off a year subscription using the promo code, Jeffie, J-E-E-F-F-Y-440. Who died today? Who died today?
Starting point is 00:26:59 Well, let's begin with Eduardo Zol. I guess that's how he pronounced it, X-O-L. He's a TV designer for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. He has passed away at the age of 58. darn good looking man too. It's sad that he died. He died in a stabbing in Palm Springs. So apparently, he passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center after sustaining
Starting point is 00:27:29 injuries during an apparent stabbing, according to a report issued by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. No specific cause of death for the reality TV star was supplied. he was stabbed so I guess that doesn't that equal cause of death
Starting point is 00:27:49 guess not I guess not so according to this though hold on police about having answered an initial call after the reported
Starting point is 00:27:59 stabbing 10 days earlier wait what so Zol XOL time of entry was September 10th
Starting point is 00:28:10 was put at 5.41 a.m. According to the Desert Sun newspaper, okay, and they charged this Richard Joseph Gonzalez with attempted murder after the reported, after the stabbing. We're heartbroken at the tragic loss. Wait, so they stabbed him a, you know, a long time ago, and then I guess they're saying that this was because of the stabbing.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Okay. He was born in Los Angeles to Mexican-American parents. acted in TV, music, and video projects in Latin America? Yeah, because he was a darn good-looking man. So he got stabbed the 10th of September. So maybe that's why we didn't give a cause of death, because we don't know really if it had anything to do with the stabbing, you know, 20 days ago or whenever it was, 15 days ago.
Starting point is 00:29:06 So, okay, all right. So rest in peace, Eduardo. was all dead at the age of 58. Then we have retired Judge Stewart Rosenwasser. Judge Rosenwasser killed himself at his Orange County home. I know very sad. The FBI showed up at the house to arrest him. So the former prosecutor and retired judge in Orange County, New York,
Starting point is 00:29:33 killed himself. When the FBI showed up, wanted to search his house, and they were there to arrest him. And so I guess they wanted to arrest him in connection with the corruption case. Huh. So Rosenwasser had been under investigation. He was 72, allegedly for taking $63,000 in bribes.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Okay, so my question is, $63,000 has really not that much money for a judge. I mean, if I'm a judge and I'm taking bribes, I'm going to be asking for a lot more than $63,000. So anyway, sources say Rosenwasser, Rosenwasser, R-O-S-E-N-W-A-S-S-E-Rosen, Rosner. I want to make sure I pronounce his name right, Stuart Rosenwasser. He apparently pointed the gun at an agent who fired a shot. Rosenwasser then barricaded himself in and is believed he fatally shot himself. So, I mean, he could have been shot by the agent and then barricaded himself in and died, but maybe not.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Federal grand jury indicted Rosenwasser on bribery charges, accusing him of launching an investigation in 2022 when he was working in the district attorney's office to help a longtime associate. a man known as Martin as Marty Sodani accused his nephew of stealing nearly two million dollars from him. In a taxed Rosenwasser allegedly said, I'm putting maximum effort into this. We will utilize all available assets. So I guess they have money orders and checks. 63 grand though. I mean, we're not a deal that the nephew stole 2 million and we're going to try to get him off for that.
Starting point is 00:31:27 That's worth a lot more than 63,000. But anyway. he was going to be arrested and then killed himself. And of course, anytime we talk about suicide, and even in this story now, I'm glad to see that these stories have taken up what chewing the fat started. Make sure that you put the 9-88 suicide
Starting point is 00:31:47 and crisis lifeline in the stories. Okay, because if you or someone you love are dealing with an issue that you think can't be resolved any other way than killing yourself, dial 988. that's the suicide and crisis lifeline. There's also an 800 number, and you can text a talk line, and you could go to 988 Lifeline.org as well,
Starting point is 00:32:14 but the fastest way is just to dial 9888. I don't think at the time that Stuart Rassenwasser was barricading himself into the, wherever, whatever room he was barricading himself into, and he wasn't thinking, oh, man, I'm thinking about killing myself. I need to dial 988. I don't want the man to kill himself, but I don't think he was thinking that. So I guess rest in peace to Judge Stewart Orozenwasser dead at the age of 72.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Then we have very sad that someone hijacked a bus in L. LA. So they hijacked a bus in LA. And when I say they, I meant he. So a particular man, a 51-year-old resident of Los Angeles, hijacked the bus. And they finally, they had this big long chase, a slow chase with the bus. And the bus driver, I guess, was wonderful and drove slow and safely and whatever. And then they put out the sticks at some point. And then the bus stopped. And then, you know, It was great that the driver was calm. And so they were, you know, they were, they were followed. Now, when they finally stopped the bus and they finally did their SWAT team hostage rescue operation, they found a man inside the bus with gunshot wounds. Now, they took the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. And the driver and the second passenger were treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
Starting point is 00:33:59 and the driver was okay and he was receiving the support he needs. Well, that is great because we want to make sure that the bus driver receives the support he needs. We do, just stop it. And then they arrested this 51-year-old man
Starting point is 00:34:15 for the could face, he could face a murder charge because we don't know what led up to the shooting in the bus. so rest in peace to the person who died in the bus in California now they claim that this is the latest in a series of attacks
Starting point is 00:34:46 including stabbing and shootings on buses and trains in Los Angeles huh that is weird I wonder what could be causing that in Los Angeles. Because I know we're getting ready to get our transit system even bigger and better for the upcoming Olympics in three and a half, four years.
Starting point is 00:35:09 So maybe we do something about the all the crazy people on the streets. No, never mind. There's not a problem. Don't worry about it. Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. Ugh, what?

So Major League Baseball is wrapping up, and we have the playoffs coming up when baseball actually matters here in the playoffs. I see it's just a side note of playoffs WNBA playoffs happened and the Indiana fever are now out of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:36:21 I know my girl Caitlin lost the first two games of the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Let's take a look at the ratings for the rest of the WNBA playoffs. Shall we? How much do you want to bet that they are in the toilet? I guarantee those numbers are going to be
Starting point is 00:36:42 way down because Caitlin's out. Have a nice day. I know we're all haters because we wanted to watch Caitlin this year in the WNBA. But that's the way it goes. I mean, her rookie basketball card just sold for $84,000. Hello. The only, the world loves her. So, I mean, her fanatics collect card, 84 grand.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Wow, that's pretty good. That's pretty good. worth a lot more than that. Anyway, it was just a thought. I know that it was sad to see Indiana losing the playoffs, but they really were not ready for the playoffs. Caitlin got them to the playoffs. So did the rest of the players, Jeff. Yeah, I know. And like I said, Caitlin got them to the playoffs and they need to build around that. And there were some other issues outside the Indiana fever themselves and the coaching and the playing and seemed to maybe come along a little bit at the end of the season.
Starting point is 00:37:42 But, and then outside the WNBA, I mean, they just hate Caitlin Clark. And she's done nothing, nothing but bring up that league. It's just amazing to me. I don't understand it one bit. She has brought, she's brought the league up to this pinnacle. And they just, the overall amount of players in the league just hate her. And I don't understand it.
Starting point is 00:38:08 But they'll find out soon enough when, And nobody is watching the WNBA playoffs because Caitlin is going to be home. Anyway, back to baseball. I know baseball is wrapping up getting into the playoffs. And the Oakland A's, the team that the baseball team, Major League Baseball team in Oakland, is moving to Las Vegas. We talked about their new stadium, what it's going to look like. But the new stadium isn't going to be ready for a couple of years.
Starting point is 00:38:37 So the team is moving out of Oakland. And Oakland is pissed. And I don't know. I don't necessarily blame him, but nobody was showing up at the games. And the owner hates being in Oakland. So, I mean, he's moving his team to play in Sacramento for a couple of seasons. Before he moves to Vegas, that's how much he hates Oakland. And Oakland, I think, hates him right back.
Starting point is 00:39:04 So this is like the first time that there's not going to be a major league sports franchise. in the city of Oakland since like 1960. So I know they're having a big sellout for the final game in Oakland and everybody's going to be sad and hating on the owner. But you should have been there, you know, come to the games before this. And that's the way it goes. Now, they give you the argument he should have put a better team on the field. Well, I know, I get that.
Starting point is 00:39:32 But so, you know, it's a battle. But that battle is long gone now because he's moving his team credibly. They're going to play at the, the minor league field in Sacramento for a couple of years until they get that new stadium built in Las Vegas. So he hates Oakland and Oakland hates him. The owner, John Fisher, no relation that I know of, hates him right back.
Starting point is 00:39:57 So it's the way it goes. Okay, so side note, WNBA, I see where Las Vegas AISISA, Asia Wilson, named the 2024 WNVA MVP. She becomes the second player to be. unanimously selected to the league's MVP. Congratulations to her.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Although, see, I think this is the AP. I think this is the AP suggestion for MVP. I don't know that this is the league's MVP because I thought we had the most valuable player announced today
Starting point is 00:40:31 the 26th of September 2024 from the league. So this must be from the AP. And I know Caitlin was, I think, fourth place or something for MVP. So she could possibly win the WNBA MVP.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Caitlin, I doubt it. But it's possible. But she definitely needs to win the rookie of the year. Hello. Caitlin is, there's no question she is the rookie of the year. She broke all kinds of records and all kinds of numbers and set all kinds of new standards as far as, sellouts and who's coming to see the game.
Starting point is 00:41:14 So that's just, that needs to happen. We'll find that out on October 2nd for the league's rookie of the year. So tonight, I guess we find out who is the league's MVP. Although, like I said, they said that this was Asia Wilson becoming the MVP unanimous choice with the 670 points from the media panel. So I guess I guess this was the AP poll and not the league
Starting point is 00:41:48 But anyway, she'll probably If the AP picks her, then so will the league So congratulations to Asia Wilson And it better be Caitlin Winning the rookie of the year I'll tell you that And believe me, I understand that I am in the minority of caring about the WNBA
Starting point is 00:42:05 Because I care very little about the WMBA. Actually, I just had fun watching Caitlin play this year for the Indiana Fever. That's all. Just enjoy watching her play. And that brought millions of people, or at least hundreds of thousands of people,
Starting point is 00:42:20 to the WNBA. And as much as they hate her, that cannot be denied. All right, let's get out of here. I'll leave you with the joke of the day. This is kind of a dad joke. I did not write this.
Starting point is 00:42:37 But, you know, it's funny. So I had to go to the hospital today. And I told the doctor, I've been bitten by a wolf. And the doctor asked, where? And I said, no, just an ordinary one. See, because when the doctor asked, he thought, you know. Stream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at theblaze.com slash podcasts.
