Starting point is 00:00:00 With Amex Platinum, you have access to over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide. So your experience before takeoff is a taste of what's to come. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Blaze Radio Network. And now, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher. Well, here it comes again. Cases of new COVID-19 variant NB.1.8.1.
Starting point is 00:00:29 linked to a large surge in China, oh no, has been detected in multiple locations across the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC said it's aware of reported cases of COVID-19 NB.1.8.1 in China and is in regular contact with international partners, but so far too few U.S. sequences have been reported of NB.1.8.1 to be included in the agency's variant estimates dashboard. Okay. So then they're talking about how the government are taking away people's COVID-19 vaccines. No, they're going to stop recommending the vaccine to children, I think under six, and pregnant women.
Starting point is 00:01:21 And also older people, I think, over 65 or over 75 or something like that. You can still get it. If you want it, you can still get it. They're just going to stop recommending it. Now, is this new variant NB.1.8.1, is it terrible? Is it going to shut everything down? I think not. Even this Dr. Amy Edwards, who is the assistant professor of pediatrics at the School of Medicine at Caste Western Reserve University.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Wow. That's a good gig. Who specializes in infectious diseases said, You know, there's a little evidence that this variant binds more tightly to human cells, which means it's easier to transmit, but that doesn't mean it leads to more severe infection. Oh, okay, so we don't really need to, I mean, it's just like a cold again. Commonly reported symptoms include respiratory issues such as cough and sore throat, as well as systematic effects like fever fatigue.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Okay, so if you are vulnerable to any of that, you know, be careful, of course. Now, the other professor that commented in the story that I was reading, Subhash Verma, the professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine, that's a good gig. She was quoted as saying it's broadly similar to the cases we've seen in earlier strains of the virus. Oh, okay. So just be ready. be ready for the scare tactics of everyone around you that the new COVID strain NB1.8.1 is on the way and we need to shut everything down again because it's coming. It's coming. And I do not want to see it. I don't. I don't. Don't make me wear a mask. I'm not going to do it. Don't close down businesses. I still want to do business with them. It's just people can take care of themselves. Huh. A weird, weird.
Starting point is 00:03:27 thing people can be responsible for themselves I know weird welcome welcome to chewing the fat how much fun did you have over the weekend watching Emmanuel Macron get slapped in the face by his wife on an airplane I was to watch that video a thousand times and I'm not you know we don't know why she puts both hands and slaps him in the face and but we did catch it. It was caught on video as they were, you know, getting off the plane in Vietnam for some, you know, we're getting together with Vietnam and France
Starting point is 00:04:12 and they're having a good old time together. But she's pissed about something. And then they go to come down the stairs and he holds his arm out to, you know, say, hey, let's walk down the stairs together. Not a chance does she grab his arm all the way down. Then as they're on the tarmac, greeting people, he has got his fist clenched so tight.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Now, they're claiming, oh, we were just horsing around. Uh-huh. Something, you know, who knows? You can speculate on anything. It certainly wasn't horsing around. How many times have you slapped your wife or husband in the face? Just horsing around. She's pissed about something.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Now, I would venture to say that maybe she's pissed that he's still doing way too much cocaine. and they showed up there on the plane and there he is all railed up and she's pissed at him for that so she slaps him in the face. Who knows? Maybe he was in the back taking care of a little airline stewardess Bidnaz, flight attendant Bidnaz,
Starting point is 00:05:16 maybe, who knows? I don't know. I mean, they've been together forever. She was, you know, 40 years old when she started dating the 16-year-old boy. I know. So, I mean, there's quite an age difference. And so who knows? I don't know. Is Macron gay? Is he a doper?
Starting point is 00:05:33 Who knows? But it definitely was fun seeing her slap him in the face. And then the horsing around. We're just horsing around. We're just horsing around. So it'll be fun if there's any backlog. Imagine if he slapped her on video. Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:05:51 We'd be having a different discussion today. It wouldn't be just horsing around any longer. Would it, President Macron? Well, for those of you, you listening live, we're coming off the big Memorial Day weekend break. I hope everyone took a moment to remember the reason that we celebrate Memorial Day. I know you did. Thank you. Everyone appreciates that. Whether you did it, you know, had a parade or in the backyard firing up the grill or at a cemetery. Either way, as long as you paid a little bit of respect, that's what really matters. So we're
Starting point is 00:06:25 back at it today. Full bore. We got the Diddy Trial, sticking back in. They still got to prove their case. I mean, we've had all kinds of people take the stands and talk about what a douchebag he is. But I don't, you know, who knows what's going to come of this. I mean, he's pled not guilty, you know, to the racketeering, sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution. I mean, the world thinks he's guilty. I don't know about the jury. Then we have the Harvey Weinstein trial still ongoing.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I think they have one more prosecution witness and then the defense starts there for Harvey. We'll see. We'll see. I'm going to be surprised, and I mean this genuinely, and I don't want to think this, but I would be very surprised if he survives this trial. I feel like Harvey's going to pass away in this trial, and then the world will be cheering. Yay, Harvey Weinstein is dead.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And yes, he was guilty of all of this, and they'll just stop the trial, and that will be the end. And everyone will just think Harvey's a douche back. Well, maybe because he is. And then as of this request, we have two two fugitives from the New Orleans jail break remaining at large
Starting point is 00:07:38 so keep a heads up still they're not all behind bars yet 10 prisoners escaped and now we have caught 8 that's all that math works so they captured three of them I guess yesterday
Starting point is 00:07:58 wow I guess They were together? Weird. And they were caught in Texas. So they were arrested in what the Huntsville Police Department described as a high-speed chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies. All right. So the two Antio Masey and Derek Groves still on the loose and should be considered armed and dangerous. So if you want any of the reward money that leads to their arrest when you see. see them. Do not try to do anything yourself. Just call the FBI, call the ATF, and call
Starting point is 00:08:35 crime stoppers, one, one, and then you'll get the total of 20,000. I think. Good luck, though. Most importantly, they need to be taken into custody. So I love the story of this former flight attendant who was arrested for smuggling drugs, and she said, hey, I have never seen them before. I didn't expect it at all when they pulled me over at the airport. Okay, that's the way to handle that. She's still got arrested. We've got to talk about her as well. And we've got to talk about the drug that she was, you know, allegedly smuggling in her suitcase.
Starting point is 00:09:13 But first, let me tell you about real estate agents I trust.com. If you are planning on buying or selling a home, it's a nightmare. And it takes a lot of time and a lot of jumping through hoops. if you've attempted it before, you know what a nightmare it is. You need someone on your side that can help you jump through all these hoops and just deal with the things that you need to deal with and help you purchase a house at the best price and sell a house at the best price. Both.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Ha! You want the best price selling and the best price buying. That's why you need real estate agents. I trust.com. Real estateagestrust.com is a free service. We hook you up. Again, I keep using that term. It's not hooking you up.
Starting point is 00:09:56 We put you together with the best real estate agent in your area. And you guys, you know, take it from there. Real estate agents I trust. Someone who knows the best practices, someone who understands the crazy housing market, someone who can actually close on buying or selling your home. So either way, buying or selling, real estate agents I trust.com is there for you.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Real estate agents I trust.com. You get it. It's in the name. You can trust them. Real estate agents. I trust.com. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Introducing the new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus, powered by Peloton IQ, built for breakthroughs with personalized workout plans, real-time insights, and endless ways to move. Lift with confidence. While Peloton IQ counts reps, corrects form, and tracks your progress. Let yourself run, lift, flow, and go. Explore the new Peloton Cross-Training tread plus at OnePeloton.ca. Okay, so have you ever heard of Cush? And I'm not talking about marijuana,
Starting point is 00:11:31 because I think years ago, and maybe even still today, they call marijuana Cush. But I'm talking about this new synthetic drug. It's called Cush. And it's a synthetic drug that's being put together, particularly in Sierra Leone. So the composition, of course, can vary.
Starting point is 00:11:50 reports indicate that it typically contains a mixture of substances. Cannabis is usually the base ingredient and then synthetic opioids, powerful synthetic opioids like fentanyl and tramidol, and ingredients that contribute to the drugs potency and addictiveness. Other additives are this formaldehyde, a preservative also now euphoric properties, is sometimes added. There are also reports of other harmful substances, such as acetone, paints, and disinfectants being included.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Now, how much do you want to try Cush? I know. There's also reports that they're putting in human bones, bone dust, into the Cush. So you've got that going for you. So this is, and if you want to catch a buzz with Cush, what you're going to have is drowsy, hallucinations, impaired motor skills, malnutrition, organ damage, respiratory issues, paranoia, anxiety, severe mood springs, depression, cognitive impairments.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Yeah, so now how much do you want to do cush? Well, that's what this flight attendant, ex-flight attendant, is accused of smuggling in. She had over 100 pounds of this cush in her luggage. now she said and it's the new synthetic drug that they used human bones in wow she faces up to 25 years in a sir lankan prison i don't wish that i necessarily on anyone i don't know that if 25 years in prison anywhere is fun but a sirlankan prison does not sound like the best place to be in prison but i've never been in prison there so again what do i know so apparently uh she was carrying suitcases full of Cush. Oh, okay. So she says, I had nothing to do with it. I don't know. I planned out in them opening my luggage and finding all my stuff in there. Oh, okay. I mean, I've been working in Thailand and I had to leave because my 30-day visa was due to run out. So I was going to take a, I took the three-hour flight to Sri Lanka and I was waiting for the renewal of my Thai visa. And I had never seen. them before. I didn't expect at all when they pulled me over at the airport. I thought it was going to be filled with all my stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Oh, now she implied that she knew who had planted the drugs in her suitcases. Well, then you better fess up because that's going to save you 25 years in prison. She apparently, you know, knows how it happened. Okay. So they are big time worried about this cush coming into the country and they've We've got grave robbing going on because they're using human bones. I mean, come on now. So when you see people on the street just hanging over, not moving, that's Cush.
Starting point is 00:15:01 And so be ready for that because I don't know if that particular Cush has the human bone mixed into it. But man, how much do you want to just do something where you're going to have, you know, severe physical and mental? health issues and then hallucinate, well, I guess maybe you do want to hallucinate, blood impaired, motor skills, malnutrition, organ damage, respiratory issues, paranoia, anxiety, severe mood, springs, depression, and cognitive impairments. Sign me up. And our girl, Charlotte May Lee, former flight attendant, she will definitely spend time in prison if she doesn't give it up and talk about this because the president of Thailand has already declared an emergency because of this drug.
Starting point is 00:15:51 So they are arresting people left and right. He said that security has been tightened around graveyards to stop digging up skeletons. And they, he called Cush a death trap. And the drug posed an existential crisis to his nation. So they are arresting people left and right. And so she better fess up or we'll see it in 25. You know, speaking to going to prison,
Starting point is 00:16:17 I see where Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, you know, part of the Rust shooting with our man, Alec Baldwin, yes, the gunshot rule still counts, especially when we're talking about the actual movie where it all started and the shooting of Helena Hutchins. So Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison. And she got out of prison this weekend.
Starting point is 00:16:47 I know. So good for her. She was released in Arizona to a region near the Nevada and California borders with dual supervision under probation and parole authorities to take place concurrently. Okay. She'll be on parole in the manslaughter case for a year, separate in previous case in which Gutera's Reid was accused of unlawfully carrying a firearm in a licensed liquor establishment as resulted in 18 months of probation. So it's going to be on probation for a while. She was at the New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grant's New Mexico. Wow. So because of state credit for time served, women in state prisons in New Mexico generally serve a little
Starting point is 00:17:32 less than 60% of their sentences. Wow. Gutera's read was required to serve at least 85% of her sentence. Those convicted of serious violent offense have this requirement. So I guess there was some leeway, but it never went her way. And she was to spend 85% of her time in prison. So she got like 60 days credit for completing two phases of residential addiction program, 40 days of pre-sentence credit,
Starting point is 00:18:02 four days credit for each month for good behavior. Okay, so good. She's out. Just let you know. It's what you know that Hannah Guterres read is out of prison. just a reminder that the movie is out. I have not seen it yet. I will not pay to see it.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Although if you pay to see it, the money does go to the family of Helena Hutchins, which kind of makes me want to buy the movie. I haven't done it yet, though. And our dear friend, Alec, never really spent any time in jail. Sure, they tried to put him in front of a court a couple of times and then have a nice day. No, you're not getting charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Charges are dropped the second time. Yeah, we're dismissing this with prejudice. Get out of here. So that was good news for Alec Baldwin. Because now we can watch his reality show The Baldwin's. I bet you Hannah Gutierrez-Reed isn't signing up for a reality show, although it might not be a bad idea. All right, let's go to the break room.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I could make that work. I need something cold to drink desperately. Be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffie JFR on X. Jeff Fisher Radio on Facebook and Instagram. It's worth every, I'm rounding up, every down nickel at Jeffrey JFR on Cameo. And you can email the show anytime, chewing the fat at theblaze.com. Chewing the fat at the blaze.com. Starting point is 00:20:13 You can send stories you think I may have missed. I appreciate everyone. I see them all. I may not respond to them all, but I do see them all, and you can send your comments, good or bad. I see them all. I prefer the good ones, but, you know, I'll take the bad ones. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Chewing the fat at the blaze.com. Okay, so I did not go to the movie theaters this weekend. I watched a lot of stuff, and I'm going to go over what I watched, but I didn't go see Mission Impossible. I want to see it. I just never made it to the theater to see it. It was number two on the weekend, of course.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Lilo and Stitch was number one. Final destination, bloodlines, number three, Thunderbolts, number four. Sinners still hanging in there at number five. The last rodeo, number six, and they were happy with the $5 million domestic weekend, I guess a little over $6 million, with the four-day opening for Angel Studios.
Starting point is 00:21:10 That's awesome, and Neil McDonough, awesome job. But still, it couldn't hit in that top five. That's kind of disappointing, I think. A friendship, a Minecraft movie, number eight, still hanging in there. The accountant, number nine, and hurry up tomorrow was number 10 in the top 10 movies this weekend. Has a Minecraft movie hit a billion dollars yet? I don't know why that fascinates me, but no, it has not. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Are they going to ever hit a billion dollars? They're 940,622,850,000,000, according to box office. mojo. So are they ever going to hit a billion? I don't know. People are still going. So we'll see. They'll hit a billion, two million at a time. It will never leave the theaters until it hits a billion dollars. That's a little disappointing. I'm sure that they wanted to be over a billion by now. Okay, so this weekend, I ended up watching a bunch of shows at the house. I did not go to the theater. I know. Don't look at me like that. Okay? I just did. I just decided to stay. home and watch some movies. So I started out
Starting point is 00:22:19 with Elevation. That's a movie on Netflix. I think it was on Netflix. Might have been on Prime. Might have been on Apple. I don't remember what platform it was on. It's called Elevation. It's from 2024. And I watched it after Extinction.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So Extinction had reviews that were terrible. I kind of enjoyed extinction. And we talked about that last week. But Elevation this movie is, a sci-fi movie again and it's got Captain America in it what's his face Anthony Mackey in it and it was I don't know I don't know what to think about it okay so here's the deal if you haven't seen it all right so it's a sci-fi movie and
Starting point is 00:23:04 humans get to survive above 8,000 feet and I think it's actually above 8,000 feet humans survive so there's these things that have taken over the earth and they kill humans below 8,000 feet. So they're, you know, now they're up above elevation and they've got to go down for medicine and food and they've got to, you know, be attacked and these things, you can't kill them. You can't kill them. We know what they're. It looked like giant metal cockroaches or whatever. We don't know where they came from. We don't know how it started. Just all of a sudden they showed up on the planet and they started killing humans. Obviously, I have other questions. Like they didn't kill any animals. They don't live on any other animals. They don't destroy other things. They just
Starting point is 00:23:46 destroy humans. And so then they have the scientists that's above 8,000 feet, and she's trying to figure out how to kill these things. And this is going to be a spoiler alert for elevation, okay? So if you don't want to have the spoiler alert for elevation, you know, fast forward real quick, okay? Fast forward for just a little bit. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:11 She figures it out. She does figure out how to kill them, and they win. and humans take back the earth. However, we don't know anything about them. We don't know where they came from. We don't know who created them. Nothing. We just know that they showed up
Starting point is 00:24:26 and now we have figured out a way to kill them and we're done. Oh, okay. All right, welcome back. All right, so the spoiler alert is over. I just, I enjoyed extinction way better than elevation, but that was, you know, that's just me.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Then I started Fountain of Youth on Apple TV with, you know, what's his first? face and what's her face? You know, John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. Okay, so I started watching that because that was, but Stanley Tucci's in it as well. And, you know, it's supposed to be this,
Starting point is 00:24:57 today's version of National Treasure. I will tell you this, it is not. It was terrible. I didn't even finish it yet. I paused it. I'll get back to it because I'm going to have to watch the whole thing now. I want to see how they work it out. But it's not a good movie.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Okay. If you're going to sit down and watch this movie, it is not national treasures, watch one of the national treasures, and enjoy that instead of going to Fountain of Youth. So it's just me. That's just me. Now, I did break down.
Starting point is 00:25:33 I watched another detective show on Prime, another Norwegian detective show called Springtide. It's like, I don't know, eight episodes, 10 episodes, whatever it was. I binged that one of the evenings this weekend. And, you know, I love struggling detectives, murders. I'm in. And plus in Europe, a European struggling detective, I'm in.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And so I watched that. It's called Springtime. It was really good. I will say, this is the thing with these detective series. They milk it quite a bit. This series could have been wrapped up in about six episodes, maybe eight. But 10? No, I didn't need 10.
Starting point is 00:26:16 But I get it. I get it. Okay, I get it. We have to fulfill everyone, we have to get to know everybody. And I, you know, I got it. But it could have been done. Let's say, let's say six. Let's wrap this thing up. Didn't need 10. But I did like the twist at the end. I really did enjoy the twist at the end. So if you're watching, if you want to watch Springtide, catch the first, I don't know, four episodes, and then maybe jump ahead to maybe six and then jump ahead to nine and ten. And you'll get the gist of springtime. Then I did break down. It took quite some doing yesterday, but I did finally break down and watch Zero Day on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:27:00 I know it took everything I had to get past Robert Duchero. But I did because I love his work. I've always said I love Dush Niro's work. I just can't get past him. It takes forever for me to get. passed him but I did I did it I watched zero day and it was pretty good
Starting point is 00:27:21 it was pretty good it was not what I had expected he's a former president and there's a zero day cyber attack of the U.S. And you know he's struggling mentally and I won't give you the if you have not seen it I'll give you
Starting point is 00:27:38 the spoiler alert but you know former president of United States has given vast powers by his successor to investigate on president and cyber terrorist attack of the United States that resulted in thousands of deaths and we go from there and De Niro plays the you know the former president and you know I enjoyed it and I enjoyed it it was it was fun and I could see something like this absolutely happening now is it going to happen the way they portray it in this series okay I don't know I question that
Starting point is 00:28:14 However, I get it, and it was a fun ride. So, you know, again, it's Robert Duch Niro. I love his work. It just takes so much for me to get past him to watch his work. Boarding for Flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. Ugh, what? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo?

Well, we have to begin with Phil Robertson.
Starting point is 00:31:08 Duck Dynasty, Blaze TV star, Duck Dynasty legend, Phil Robertson has passed away at the age of 79. It was revealed quite a while ago now, and I don't remember how long ago is that he was was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and then Chasad said that his dad was not doing well, not too long ago, which is very sad. And then they posted this weekend that dad has gone to be with the Lord today. He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good. We will see him again.
Starting point is 00:31:46 The granddaughter marked his death with an Instagram post featuring a series of photos of their famous family throughout the years. Yeah. was really a nice remembrance. So Phil Robertson dead at the age of 79. I met him several times. Interviewed him once on chewing the fat. I think posted yesterday, episode 69,
Starting point is 00:32:07 one of the American, Living the American Dream segments I did with him. And we talked about his football career and how he walked off the field. He decided that he wanted to be a hunter. Hunter and fisherman rather than play football. And that's when Terry Bradshaw stepped into the, to the live light at Louisiana Tech and then later, you know, on to Hall of Fame status.
Starting point is 00:32:28 But Phil was ahead of Terry Bradshaw at the time when he walked away. So a very good man. Really sad to hear the news. Phil Robertson dead at the age of 79. Then, after the show on Friday, I think it was after the show. Anyway, the guy that wrote
Starting point is 00:32:50 all the Carpenter's songs, Roger Nichols passed away at the age of 84. Rest in peace to Roger Nichols. However, what that did to me was put the stupid carpenter songs in my head for the weekend. And all, I mean, it just would not go away. And one of his songs was, we've only just begun. And of course, I'm singing it all weekend.
Starting point is 00:33:22 long and it's finally now it's finally out of my head and I'm talking to you about it so it'll be back in my head wow I mean white lace and promises I kiss for luck and we're on our way I mean come on
Starting point is 00:33:43 classic anyway rest in peace to Roger Nichols dead at the age of 84 then we have Jeff Margolis award-winning TV producer and director. That's how you know him. I mean, you wouldn't know what he looked like, but unless you were in the actual Oscar and Emmy business and the American Music Awards,
Starting point is 00:34:03 because he was the TV producer for those and directed those shows. Jeff Margolis, dead at the age of 78. No cause of death was given. Interesting on that. Plus, speaking of that, who knew the American Music Awards was on this weekend? I'm so, I could go on for another half-hour 40 minutes on the American Music Awards.
Starting point is 00:34:25 I mean, I didn't even know it was happening. It happened on Memorial Day. The musicians at the American Music Awards are partied in Vegas on Memorial Day for their awards show. Come on now. You can do better than that, AMA. But Billy Elish wins in all seven nominated categories. Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Post Malone, the weekend, 21 pilots. Jennifer Lopez had a big opening scene where she's dancing around, pretending to be young,
Starting point is 00:34:52 again. Well, she is single. And it's the world's largest fan voted award show. I know. I know Jennifer J. Lo was the host. I get it. It was on Fount. It was broadcast from Fountain Blue, Las Vegas on CBS on CBS and Paramount. I just didn't know it was on. It was Memorial Day. You don't host, you don't have an award show on Memorial Day. What are you thinking? Anyway, the guy, all that for Jeff Bargolas, the TV producer. He wasn't producing this particular show because, well, he had passed away at the age of 78. Then we have, and on we go. We have today co-host, Chanel Jones, her husband, Uche Oje, dies at the age of 45 of brain cancer.
Starting point is 00:35:41 He was battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. Huh. Isn't that interesting that so many people are dying of these aggressive forms of cancer? there's weird, weird that that's happening. I mean, I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with that. Don't look at me like, don't look at me like that. Because if it were, have to do with that, they would say so, right? Of course they would.
Starting point is 00:36:06 So, rest in peace, to Uche Oja, dead at the age of 45. Then to top it all off, and the dead keep coming. Former New York Congressman Charlie Rangel, Korean War Purple Heart recipient I like how they spin that from that guy dead at the age of
Starting point is 00:36:27 94 so I know he served 46 years in Congress the first African American member and chair of the powerful House and Ways Means Committee
Starting point is 00:36:38 his wife had passed away six months ago so it's not really a surprise they were married for like 60 years and she died a few months ago
Starting point is 00:36:49 seven months ago And so I'm sure that after that there was no real reason to, for him to go on. And that happens a lot. So that's, you know, very sad when you've been together for such a long time. And one spouse leaves, it takes a lot for the other spouse to get going, no matter what kind of person Charlie Rangel was. I'm sure that he loved his wife. Anyway, Charlie Rangel dead at the age of 94.
Starting point is 00:37:16 When I got a great deal on a great gift at Winners, I started wondering, could I get fabulous gifts for everyone on my list? Like this designer fragrance for my daughter. At just $39.99, how could I resist? This luxurious will throw for my sister. This gold watch for my partner? A wooden puzzle for my niece? Leather gloves for my boss?
Starting point is 00:37:51 Ooh, European chocolate for the crossing guard? At these prices, could I find something for everyone at winters? Stop wondering. Start Gifting. Winners, find fabulous for less. So last week, we told you about Al-N-Alda, who, by the way, is still alive. For those of you that aren't aware, I asked because I did not know that he was still alive. But he is, and good, good. I'm happy that Al-A-N-A-N-A-D-9 is still alive.
Starting point is 00:38:17 But he suffers from this pro-so, I'm sorry, what was it? Prasa-Pagnosia. Yeah. It was Prasa. Prasa-Pagnosia. Yeah, that's what I thought. It's called face blindness, which makes it hard for him to recognize people. Also, he has Parkinson's disease.
Starting point is 00:38:34 So we found that out about Al-N-Alda. Well, then we get news about Billy Joel. Now, I love Billy Joel. I've been a fan of Billy's for a long time. I've seen him live in concert. Great show. He has canceled all his concerts. All the upcoming concerts are canceled.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Now, don't forget, when he fell down not too long ago on stage, they canceled a few concerts. said, yeah, it's fine, no problem. Well, not really. Because he's been diagnosed with this brain disorder known as normal pressure hydrocephalus. Pretty sure that's how you pronounce that. Hydrocephalus. Yeah, that's what I said. Thanks. I didn't ask for you that time. What are you? Itching to work after you had the holiday off. Anyway, Billy Joel has been diagnosed with this disorder known as normal pressure. hydrocephalus. Now this condition has been exasperated by recent concert performances, leading to
Starting point is 00:39:35 problems with hearing, vision, and a balance. Wow. Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery, period. So he's not going to tour anymore. He's 76 now. Shoot, he's, he's done touring so if you saw billy joel live uh you can quote me on this you saw billy joel live but you're not going to see him anymore look for the videos uh look for all the look for all the videos coming from madison square garden because that's the last time that you're going to see billy joel live very sad i don't want anything bad to happen i want the uh rehab to work but or the physical therapy to work now he would be it's not rehab silly uh it's a physical therapy so is he going to
Starting point is 00:40:27 turn, I think not. Oh, and then we have an anniversary today. The 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee kicks off today outside of Washington, D.C. The spelling competition is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, having begun in 1925. So congratulations to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Now, the thing is, is that we're celebrating the 100th anniversary. but it's not the 100th spelling bee. So it was canceled during World War I
Starting point is 00:41:06 and it was canceled during COVID. So this year is the 97th spelling bee. Okay. And there has been 110 winners in total because of ties, particularly when eight kids shared the title in 2019. I don't remember that. We are going to have to go back and take a look at the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee, where eight kids shared the title?
Starting point is 00:41:36 Wow. I mean, good for them. They worked really hard on that, but you've got to have a winner. Let them fight it out. Put the Scripps National Spelling Bee kids in the Octagon and let them fight it. I would watch that. I would watch the Scripps Spelling Bee Octagon to see who wins. It's a tie.
Starting point is 00:41:57 All right. Whoever, whoever walks out of the octagon today is the winner of the spelling B. On your marks, go. I would watch that. I would. Maybe it was just me. Okay, let's get out of here. A joke of the day.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Joke of the day, here you go. This is from a former president. John F. Kennedy sent me this email. I know what you're thinking. He's dead, but the email came to. me from John F. Kennedy. So I guess he's still hanging around somewhere. Go ahead and do your own conspiracy research.
