Starting point is 00:00:00 Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. Ugh, what? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea. Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements. What you win is yours to keep groovy. Hey, I won! Boating will begin when passenger fisher is done celebrating.
Starting point is 00:00:22 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close, you call 1866-3-3-1-2-60 or visit Comicsonterio.ca. Blaze Radio Network. And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. I need to begin today with an apology to the elephants
Starting point is 00:00:40 of Zimbabwe. Yesterday I told the elephants of Zimbabwe to go to Botswana. And because they're getting ready to call a bunch of elephants in Zimbabwe for meat. And there's a drought. There's not enough food for them. There's not enough
Starting point is 00:00:56 water for them. And I told them, go to Botswana because Zimbabwe is in the um this conservation area that uh is part of Zambia, Botswana and Angola and now there's more than 200,000 elephants in this conservation area. All right. Well, I find out now that elephants in Botswana are dying because of drought as well. And so then I would think well go to Zambah Oh, that's a mistake too, because Zambia is saying, yeah, we're going to call about 800 wild animals to manage pasture and provide meat to people struggling with food shortages caused by the severe drought in Southern Africa. The Environmental Ministry said it's going to call 83 elephants, 300 zebras, 100 El Antelope, 100 blue wildebeest, 600 buffalo, 50 impollas, 30 hippos, from parks, and communal areas where the animals' numbers have exceeded available grazing land and water supplies.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Now, they're going to start killing all kinds of animals in this conservation area in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Angola. So again, I want to apologize to the elephants of Zimbabwe. Don't go to Baswana. in fact I don't know that I would go anywhere you need to find someone who is going to give you
Starting point is 00:02:31 some elephant camouflage so they don't even know that you're an elephant and you just you know you just kind of hide out in the bush because they're coming after you they're coming the Zimbabweans
Starting point is 00:02:43 the Zambians the Botswanaans the Angolans they're all coming after you and I don't know if there's a place to hide but if there is I would find it and maybe you go someplace else. Maybe you leave the entire
Starting point is 00:02:56 conservation area, but whatever you do, stay safe because they're coming after you. Okay? All right. I'm sorry for giving you poor advice yesterday. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. So the CDC
Starting point is 00:03:17 has now claimed that Americans are fatter than ever. That's what the new data shows. Now before 2013, no state had an adult obesity prevalence at or above 35%. And the 2023, 23 states hit the alarming threshold of 35% or above people that were overweight. Overall, one in five American adults are obese, with the Midwest and the South reporting the highest proportions. The record 4th.
Starting point is 00:03:56 states, West Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana had the highest rates at 40%. This is one additional state compared to the year before. So we're getting fatter and be a yay, yay, congratulations. We're getting fatter in the U.S. Now, that's tremendous. Now, I'm sure that it doesn't really have anything to do with the new study that I talked about this morning, the fat five during Pat Unleased, America's per capita cheese consumption has more than doubled since the
Starting point is 00:04:34 last since the government began keeping track in 1975. So now we're averaging about 42 pounds a year. That's more than all the butter, ice cream and yogurt combined. So the dairy department was not worried, I mean the dairy department, you know, the dairy world
Starting point is 00:04:52 I'm sorry, the international dairy foods association. They're not worried about it because, look, if the demand for cheese doesn't hold up, we got yogurt, we got cream, we got protein powder, we got milk, we got milk, not a lot of people, less people are drinking milk, but we got it. And, you know, really, cheese now and butter. This is the American Dairy, the International Dairy Foods Association. Cheese and butter is American Dairy's bread and butter. See what you did there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:27 So we're eating 42 pounds, averaging 42 pounds a year. I believe I'm up in that average. I'm keeping that average strong in my life. So when you're cutting into that big block of Sam's Club cheese or, you know, Costco cheese, whatever block of cheese you're getting it, you're not alone. Okay, we're all cutting into that, no problem. But there is some good news. A new study published in the BM.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Public Health and who doesn't love the BMC Public Health, they suggest that drinking coffee may reduce the risk of death linked to prolonged sitting. So all you fat people out there that are just sitting around and I say all you fat people.
Starting point is 00:06:10 I mean people like me. They're just sitting around getting fat. You can make, I got to drink some coffee. Drink some coffee. The research involved over 10,000 participants found that people with sedentary lifestyles who consumed coffee daily, the second I've got to drink my coffee,
Starting point is 00:06:26 reduced the risk of death from heart disease and other causes. The benefits were most pronounced in those drinking two and a half cups a day. While the predictive effects of coffee remain unclear, you know, it's antioxidants and potential
Starting point is 00:06:43 to improve metabolism and reduce inflammation could play a role. So those of us that drink more than two and a half cups a day, We're good. So when you hear that sound, that means that we have breaking news here on Chewing the Fat. And we have our CTF man on the street, Chris Cruz with breaking news. Chris, what have you got for us?
Starting point is 00:07:09 Hey, Fisher, I'm over here in England. Thank you for sending me to England. You're welcome. Because it just broke that Prince Harry will get $8.5 million in inheritance. That was owed to him. Oh, from Grandpa? On Sunday. Yeah, from Grandpa, he's going to get the cash?
Starting point is 00:07:31 He will be getting the cash. Wow. But that has to hurt the can't get released that money. When he was told that he would be, hey, we found some $8.5 million that we owed you. He said, okay, I'll accept it. I bet he will. He will probably go there and accept it, even though the disresolved. digitally transfer it into his account but i would not be surprised if he went over there and just
Starting point is 00:08:00 accepted the check from dad love you so uh on sunday it will be his 40th birthday and then um the 8.5 million cash bonus that's how they're put in it um was arranged by great grandmother um but because he left his duties and stuff right right right right right there's no longer right royal. So I guess the deal was is he a real? Does he earn that because blah blah blah? Well yeah if this is an inheritance from grandpa, that money is his right?
Starting point is 00:08:35 It doesn't matter. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh. From the queen. This is from the queen. Oh, yeah. This is from Queen Elizabeth. Yeah, they have to do that. Yeah, they have to do that. It's from great grandmother. So, but I want to put out there, the breaking news is that Harry said, yes,
Starting point is 00:08:50 I will accept the $8.5 million that was owed to me. And that is a surprise. Listen, Chris, I appreciate it. I know there's controversy in the UK right now with the, you know, we have the statues of the queen and her husband and the Yorkies. And everybody said the Yorkies look great. Or the corkies, the Yorkies, the dogs.
Starting point is 00:09:12 And the statue has two little corkies and she doesn't quite look like the queen. You know, they got the grandpa there and they're all mad. And then we got the, what's her face saying she's cancer free now. Yeah, she is cancer free. And there's controversy behind that. Some people are saying, and maybe you could look into this while you're there. Okay, let me, what's the theory? The reason I sent you over there.
Starting point is 00:09:32 What's the theory? Is to find out if, you know, she actually had cancer. Oh. If this wasn't just a ruse to get back. Get more attention. Yes. Take the attention away from what's her face, Camilla. And become more endeared to the United Kingdoms people.
Starting point is 00:09:51 I know. But I want to put this Fisher because, you know, you've got your inherited. when you hit 40, right? Oh, yeah. You did? Oh, man. Oh, man. The stipulation for this trust.
Starting point is 00:10:00 And I said yes as well, so I can understand saying, yes. So this trust fund was set by Queen Mother, and she put $90 million in this one trust. Okay. I'm a fan of that. The one stipulation. Did I mention that I'm a royal? The only stipulation is that whoever is in that trust can only get the money once it hit 40. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:24 That's a reason. I mean, that's what you should do with all your money. That's what I do when you tie up funds into your trust funds and stuff. I don't mean to put you on the spot because I would never do that to you. Yeah. Have you done that for Maya and Max? Yes, they can count on it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Now, I'm just saying when they turn 40 and they'll have to look around quite a bit to try to find that inherent it. But it's there. It's there somewhere for them. The trust is there. And the stipulation is the same as Queen Mother that they have to turn 40. And then I have another stipulation. Find it. Because, you know, good luck.
Starting point is 00:11:00 God bless on finding that, that's for sure. And for those of you who are trying to find your email to the invite for the birthday party for Harry, don't worry. They did not send anything as a private event held behind closed doors. Oh, isn't that special. So I don't know why the hell you sent me over here for this party because. I want to find out if it's a ruse if she actually had cancer or not. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:11:20 I appreciate the breaking news. Thanks for doing your job. I was able to talk to the queen. The real queen, Queen Catherine. Yes. That's good. That's what I'm saying. Did you confront her?
Starting point is 00:11:33 Did you confront her about the cancer? Because I didn't know that was what you really wanted. I wanted to know about the money. And I quote, I'm disgusted. Towards Harry getting the inheritance. Are you? How much is she getting? Well, I think she's on the same deal that some people that I know on the deal were grandkids.
Starting point is 00:11:55 you know the great great kids right because she she welcomed that family a lot more that she welcomed the Harry family yes she did yes she did and some will say that
Starting point is 00:12:04 this family gave her the babies that look apart and then the other family gave her the other kind of babies yes the other kind of babies so wow
Starting point is 00:12:17 the sources this is not from her but sources closer to the matter say that she feels the Duke is not the servant of the income. Oh, yeah. And the hefty sum will be in addition to whatever they're already net worth, which is, I don't believe this.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Their net worth is $60 million. I mean, they signed a big deal with Netflix. They signed a big deal with Disney. Although some of that money, I think, has been pulled out, right? They had the big Spotify deal. Some of that deals are back. Yes, and that's what they talk about. They did not fulfill all of their obligations.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Definitely not fulfilled Spotify's. No. and so some of that money is made up money, I think. I think so too. They haven't received it. I think so too. That's why they're busy trying to do everything they can. This is why Harry said, you know what?
Starting point is 00:13:05 You know what? I will take that. I'll take the $8.5 million. Thank you for that. Well, Jeffrey, I've got to get back on the plane. All right, we'll be sure to talk to another footman. Oh, definitely. I'm talking to find out what's going on.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Two footmen's here because they know everything. They have their ear to the ground inside the castle. Chris Cruz with breaking news. Royal breaking news here on CTF. With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. So let's say you work for Boeing, and you decided to go against what your union management decided.
Starting point is 00:14:07 and said, no, we are not agreeing to that deal. We want more, and we're going to go on strike. Well, now you're on strike, and you don't have, you're not working. You have any money, no money coming in, and you're going to strike because you're thinking that it's going to pay off in the end, right? Well, I hope you're prepared, because if you need medicine or you need to see a doctor, and you don't have that medicine available to you because, I don't know, You don't have any money coming in.
Starting point is 00:14:37 You can't go pay for a doctor. You can't go pay for a prescription. But you were the smart one and ordered Jace Case. And you have a Jace case from Jace Medical. I know. It's always good to be prepared. And for you and your family to have that mental stability of, you know what?
Starting point is 00:14:57 It doesn't matter. I'm prepared. So there's something that, well, if you didn't do it, you need to do it. And that you can ensure that you and your loved ones have the medication on hand when it's needed. It's a solution that thousands of people have already discovered. Jay's case.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And it'll allow you to start stocking up on medication now. So you're prepared when you go on strike. I know. The Jay's case is personalized. It's an emergency kit that contains essential antibiotics, medications that treat the most common and deadly bacterial infections. It provides five life-saving antibiotics for emergency use. Go to jace.com and enter the code Jeffie, J-E-F-F-Y, a checkout for a discount on your order. J-S-E-A-S-E-C-com. Promocode Jeffey at J-S-E-E-com. Now I mentioned the Boeing people, yeah, they decided that 33,000 production workers decided that, yeah, you guys, you agreed to a 25% wage hike over four years? No. We don't want that. We don't want that. So Boeing said, yeah, well, we can't pay what you want.
Starting point is 00:16:18 We're going on strike. And they began their strike. It's expected to cost Boeing at least $80 billion. Well, they make about $80 billion in revenue each year. So the last strike was in 2008, and that cost them. about $100 million a day. That was 2008, and that was 52 days for the strike. So good luck, God bless, to all the Boeing people that are upset. Good times in Boeing.
Starting point is 00:16:47 You know, they brought in their new CEO. How's that working out? How's that working out for Boeing? I mean, they're the single largest exporter of, just incredible. And I thought the deal was done. We mentioned last week that they had, the management and the union management said,
Starting point is 00:17:10 yeah, we're going to take that. We want that deal. Not so fast. What they agreed to, we don't like. Sorry about that. Yeah, you said we were going to get 25% wage increase and a $3,000 signing bonus and a pledge to build Boeing's next commercial jet in the Seattle area. So this is the 33,000 employees in Seattle.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I guess maybe the other employees aren't striking. Okay. We'll see if that actually holds true or not. But those employees said, you know, we really wanted 40% pay raise. And we wanted the annual bonus. And we wanted more time off. So, well, you're getting time off now
Starting point is 00:17:56 because you're on the picket lines. And Boeing, strike, strike, strike. Be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffie JFR on X, Jeff Fisher Radio, on Instagram and Facebook. I see where Cristiano Ronaldo just hit over a billion combined followers across his social media accounts. That's, I am just under that. I am just, I mean, I want to make a day. Follow me on at Jeffrey JFR on X. Jeff Fisher Radio, as I said, on Facebook and Instagram, YouTube, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher.
Starting point is 00:18:39 With all those combined, I am under a billion. But I'm just saying, you know, I'd like for you to help me get to Ronaldo level. So he becomes the first and only celebrity to reach the billion mark. Incredible. I want to be the second. I want to be the second. All right. So just help me out.
Starting point is 00:19:03 and follow me. I'm right there. I'm like right out of his, oh, I'm right there. And, uh, ha ha ha ha.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Ah, it's incredible. This guy, man. I mean, one post. All he has to do is say, I like this.
Starting point is 00:19:19 And, you know, it's worth millions of dollars. That's awesome. Good for him. And, uh, you can order a cameo from me as well at Jeffie JFR on the camio app.
Starting point is 00:19:29 And, uh, whatever Ronaldo makes on his post for Instagram is, close to what you have to pay for that cameo. I'll tell you that right now. Good for him, though. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I mean, that's... He's the guy, man. He's the man. And there's no doubt about it. But I'm right there. Right, right there. All right. Let's go to the break room.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I need a drink of coffee. Calm down a little bit. I'm a little upset that I'm not surpassing Rinaldo. So let's go to the break room so I can get a drink of coffee. desperately needed. I see where McDonald's is rolling with their $5
Starting point is 00:20:17 meal deal. Huh. So the corporation said, you know what? We're going to extend our $5 meal deal through, yeah, well, we'll just extend it through December. You know, customers are coming back for more burgers and nuggets and, you know, well, it's going to go ahead and extend it because we need the business. We want people showing up to our McDonald's. So you know what?
Starting point is 00:20:39 We'll go ahead and extend that deal. Yeah, that's a good idea. And they are starting out, they're going to start having more digital ordering kiosks at their stores. And those kiosks are going to not only be for, you know, digital transactions, they're going to accept cash as well and distribute change.
Starting point is 00:21:02 So if you don't have a credit card, you can now pay with cash. Huh. More ways. to take your money. That's a good idea. Usually that's a good plan. It also is a good plan because that would mean that they don't need to hire employees.
Starting point is 00:21:18 They just have to have one guy come around and empty take care of the old kiosk once in a while. And it's less money because what we're doing now is we're extending our $5 deal. So got that going for us. And I see where 7-Eleven has said that they were going to offer a new sloth. slurpy flavor. It's a Coca-Cola Oreo zero sugar. Ha! I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:47 When I say it out loud, it doesn't sound bad. When I read it, I'm like, oh, I don't know. But when I say it out loud, yeah, I'd like the Coca-Cola Oreo zero sugar. Ah, that's okay. I like that. So the unique blend is now available exclusively at 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes. It's available. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:03 I have not seen it. I've been in a 7-Eleven, actually, technically. That's why you haven't seen it. Jeff, oh, okay. What about a, what about have you been in a Speedway or Stripes? No, I haven't been on one of those either. That's why you haven't seen it. Oh, okay. So, inspired by the upcoming limited time launches of Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar and the Oreo Coca-Cola sandwich cookie. This Slurpee offers a fresh twist on the classic Coca-Cola slurpee by infusing it with the distinct taste of Oreo sandwich cookies. Yum, yum.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So go to 7-Eleven now and give yourself a shot of fun. No, it's zero sugar. It's not going to be diabetes. Don't even think about that. It's going to be Coca-Cola, Oreo, zero sugar. Duh. Doesn't even have anything to do with diabetes. Hello.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Man, stop it. Then something that may actually head you toward that diabetic coma is that dairy queen is up until the 22nd of this month. So today, if you're listening live, today is Friday the 13th, 2024. Holy cow. So we'll have to definitely, we'll have to mention that again because now I'm scared. No. No, what are we talking about? No, no, we're not shooting anybody.
Starting point is 00:23:28 We're not doing it. I don't care. And this is over Dairy Queen Blizzard, even if it is Friday the 13th. So you have until the 22nd at DQ to add to, to, Buy one, get one free Blizzard treats at participating locations. The DQ close to my house closed down. I'm really disappointed. I've been bummed.
Starting point is 00:23:46 Every time I drive by that building, it's some new restaurant now, some Mexican restaurant, and I get bummed every time I drive by there because it's still in the DQ building. So if you're a rewards member, you can enjoy a buy one, get one free Blizzard. You get features seven delicious flavors. Oh, new fleets at the Blizzard. New features at the Blizzard.
Starting point is 00:24:06 you belly up to the blizzard bar. Pumpkin pie, caramel Java chip, and a fan favorite French silk pie. Can't even spit it out. That's how favorite it is. French silk pie. So these seasonal treats available for a limited time
Starting point is 00:24:26 are perfect for cooling down after a busy day or enjoying with family and friends. So don't miss out. Download that DQ. I'm doing a commercial for DQ. and they're not even a sponsor of this program. They could be, however, because I'm just, I mean, I'm under,
Starting point is 00:24:42 I'm under Ronaldo on the social media numbers, but, you know, I'm there. I'm right behind him. So now let me rephrase that. I am behind him. I am behind him. And that's a fact. So I am behind Ronaldo,
Starting point is 00:24:57 but he's got over a billion, and you're never going to get him, DQ. No way, Ronaldo is not going to do DQ. Chewing the fact. will do DQ so just let's throw on that out there under the heading of you know everyone has a
Starting point is 00:25:15 podcast now and I didn't think this would ever happen but the NSA has now debuted a podcast giving access to declassified files and goings on inside the secretive organization the series is titled No Such podcast
Starting point is 00:25:33 Ha! So that's how insiders used to refer to the NSA. No such agency. Yeah, no kidding. There's three episodes available so far. The first diving into how NSA codebreakers led the CIA to Osama bin Laden's location. When asked, hey, why are you going public with this?
Starting point is 00:25:54 And agency spokesman said it wants to talk about the work done by its diverse expert workforce or cryptologists and cryptanalysts who have gone without public acknowledgement. Yeah, you don't want to work. work at the NSA without getting a pat on the back. Shut up. Plus, it could help the NSA convince smart tech grads to work for them. That's what they're after.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Instead of working for Google, that's what they're after. It's a way to say, hey, you don't want to work for Google. Work for us. And so they mentioned Snowden in here. I mean, Snowden was the guy, the first guy. He revealed, you know, that was 10 years ago that the agency spied on U.S. citizens. I'm sure they don't do that anymore. more.
Starting point is 00:26:39 That's funny because since then we've got what? We know that Google spies on us. We know that Amazon spies on us. We know that every phone in our pocket listens to everything that we say. But don't worry about that. Don't worry about that. Edward Snow
Starting point is 00:26:55 that bastard. And it's all declassified stuff from the NSA. So we're not going to maybe you might listen and think you're going to learn something. But I don't know that you will. Has Disney Direct TV? Is that deal done?
Starting point is 00:27:10 Are they worked out a deal yet? Because I don't feel like they have. That's still ongoing. Disney, the DirecTV guy said, no, this is a long haul. We're in it for the fight. We're not caving into Disney. And so now we're entering, what,
Starting point is 00:27:23 week two of this. And people are going to YouTube TV. Of course. I'd like, you know, they're going to YouTube TV or Hulu. Don't forget, Hulu needs to remember they need to put out some ads saying maybe that's what, well that's still
Starting point is 00:27:40 ABC Disney though, isn't it? Yes it is so never mind. But it's a separate app. So if you, outside of direct TV, so if you subscribe to Hulu, you can still get ESPN and the ABC networks and ESPN Plus as
Starting point is 00:27:57 extra on Hulu since that's what I do. But the reason you'd go to YouTube TV is because they have NFL they have NFL Live right and so and I like YouTube TV I was not just they started charging me too much money
Starting point is 00:28:14 so when this is what's going to bring the deal together when DirecTV sees everyone going someplace else to watch which they will especially this time of year because guess what ABC Disney and ESPN products provide this
Starting point is 00:28:33 time a year. Wonder what they provide. Oh yeah. Football. Oh yeah. What millions of people want to watch. Oh yeah. Football. So have a nice day. Plus, not let alone the separate subscribers who have direct TV.
Starting point is 00:28:54 But, you know, my son's company, Buffalo Wild Wings, not his company, although I wish it was. He just works for them. But they have to sign up, you know, sorry. You know, we don't, we can, we don't have other channels, sorry. It's because of, you know, it's not our deal. But if they have a contact with DirecTV, those companies are losing millions of dollars for people not coming into their stores.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And so, you know, that's got to cost DirecTV huge dollars because those companies are now saying, hey, screw you. You make a deal because now you're affecting our business, let alone, you know, let alone Aunt Millie can't watch her college football team. that she wanted to watch. But I've got customers that want to come in here and eat wings and watch football, and now I can't bring it to them. I can't bring them the full package that I used to.
Starting point is 00:29:44 That's a problem. Somebody needs to, I don't know, somebody needs to make something happen. You can quote me on that. You can quote me on that. Somebody needs to make something happen. It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rank on Uber Eats.
Starting point is 00:30:18 But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no. But chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials. Order Uber Eats now. For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. Who died today? Who died today? Well, maybe nobody. Maybe no one ever again. Dr. Parnia, a researcher in resurrection science, argues that death may be reversible.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Based on his studies of resurrection and the revival of cells post-mortem, he's explored the idea that death is not instantaneous, but rather a process that can potentially be interrupted. We now know that it's possible to manipulate the process of death, at least in some cases. Dr. Parney has said, noting how advances in technology have allowed doctors
Starting point is 00:31:23 to revive patients after longer periods than previously thought possible. His work offers hope for extending life and improving outcomes for those on the brink of death. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:38 All right. I mean, we know that, we know what witches could do. We've seen the documentary on Game of Thrones that brought back John Snow. I mean, we know that death could be, could be pulled back from the brink of nowhere.
Starting point is 00:31:55 We saw the documentary flatliners years ago. You know, so, I mean, we, death does not have to be the end. It does not, you're still alive for some amount of time. So if you're close to death, we can bring you back and save you. I mean, if you're, if you're still alive, you're still alive for some amount of time. I mean, if you could still live life, yes. But if you just, you know, the whole land in the hospital bed. Yeah, he's alive, but there's no life there.
Starting point is 00:32:30 I don't know. That just doesn't appeal to me. I say that now until I'm laying in the hospital bed and I'm like, save me. Yes, resurrect me. Yes. Resurrection me. I mean, those are the guys that cryophrase themselves, right? Look, if I'm going to cryofreeze myself, I should actually do it now, right, before I get any worse.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Because if I'm brought back to life at the end, then I'm still going to have the bad knees. I don't have the bad knees anyway. But I'm still going to be, you know, have the disease and everything that hopefully I'm going to come out of the cryofreeze going, did you guys cure this kind of cancer yet? Because if not, put me back in this thing. I mean, so you might want to cryofreeze early. so hopefully with their research in resurrection science they can figure out how to make people live longer and then they won't have to actually resurrect them when you're on the precipice of death
Starting point is 00:33:32 plus you know if you believe if you believe that you're going to the heavens let's just say let's just throw this out there if you believe you're going to to heaven, right? And if you believe that God has now decided, it's your time to come to heaven. You want to be pulled back from that? I mean, you want to say, you know what? God was wrong. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm going to go ahead and live a while longer. I don't know. I don't know that I want to, I don't know that I want God to be looking down going, okay you wanted to
Starting point is 00:34:18 you know you wanted to you want to a little bit longer no problem you can go down instead of up and you can live forever down there I don't know that I want that that'd be just me though I just you know
Starting point is 00:34:30 it's not just me okay never mind so Tua I mean Tua Tegovoli went down last night in the second half of the Thursday night football game looked like he had another really bad concussion. He's going to have to retire.
Starting point is 00:34:46 I mean, they're going to force him to retire soon. He's one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league. He just signed that deal. I mean, Tua makes, what, 53 million a year, 53.1 million a year. We've got, what's his face? Going to be kicked
Starting point is 00:35:02 out of the league here soon. What's his face from Cleveland? He's not even on this list. New Dak Prescott at 60 million. Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, Tua, Jared Goff, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hertz. Well, how much, where is what's his face?
Starting point is 00:35:22 What's his face has got to be on that list, right? He has to be. From Cleveland. You know, what's his face? Deshawn Watson. Deshaun Watson. I mean, he's signed that massive deal in Cleveland, and he now is being accused again of another civil lawsuit, a sexual assault.
Starting point is 00:35:43 and the NFL is like, well, we're not going to suspend him yet. This is just an accusation. Don't worry about it. I want to know, what was Deshaun's deal? So he signed a $230 million fully guaranteed contract. And he got a 44.965 million signing bonus. Boy, how happy are Cleveland about that now?
Starting point is 00:36:07 Wow. Okay. So he's like, he's living in the Popper's house compared to the rest of these guys. and I don't know how much money he has left after all these lawsuits. Those were settled and we're fine with that, Jeff, so don't even just look the other way.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Oh, okay. No one cares. The NFL, we talked yesterday. They got 21 million viewers a game in the first weekend. The NFL is huge. I'd love to see, I want to see, I haven't seen any, I didn't look, but I haven't seen any of the college football numbers. So, I mean, I'm sure they were through the roof.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Like those big games, Texas, Michigan, one of the biggest games so far this season. Those night games, those games are breaking in some big numbers for ESPN, for ESPN, for ESPN game day, for Fox. I know. Well, the game was on Fox, Jeff. Yeah, I know. But it's still making draws. And it's just, you know, those numbers have got to be through the roof, too.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Something that maybe at Disney and Direc TV ought to think about in their dealings. Disney would say we are thinking about it and we want a lot more money. And DirecTV is like, well, you want way too much money for your properties and we're not giving it to you. And so now we're left holding the bag for direct TV. I don't have direct TV, so I'm not left holding the bag. I would be pissed if I had direct TV. I would be on YouTube or Hulu without direct TV. You signed a contract, so.
Starting point is 00:37:29 I don't care. Go ahead. Yep, you know what? I still have a contract with direct TV. I also have a contract with YouTube or Hulu. And I'm not renewing my direct TV deal, even when you make a deal. So have a nice day, direct TV. Now it would be only if I had direct TV.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Okay, I'm just telling you what I would do. I don't have direct TV. So, but if it was me, that had direct TV, that's the way I would do it. You do you, boo. Okay? You can quote me on that. You do you, boo. This episode is brought to you by Peloton.

So if you're listening live today, as I mentioned earlier, it is Friday the 13th. It is September 13th, 2024.
Starting point is 00:38:55 And I know a lot of people have, you know, strange vision. about Friday the 13th. Sure, in 1307, the French rounded up thousands of knights, Templars, and tortured them as heretics. And some wonder, you know, maybe that's how the whole Friday the 13th mythology started. It's possible.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Others wonder, I wonder if I was born on the 13th. Does anything happen on the Fridays of those years? when it's the 13th is my birthday. I don't know, but we're going to find out because we're going to play What's the Lie? And I was just made aware that our returning champion, Matt Flores, his birthday is today, which is Friday, the 13th.
Starting point is 00:39:47 So it's time for what's being called America's favorite game show, What's the Law? What's the Law? where contestants try to decipher the lie from four, count them one, two, three, four headlines. One of them is not true. Thus, that's where we get, what's the lie? Our contestant today, returning champion,
Starting point is 00:40:14 and birthday boy, Matt Flores. If he wins, not only will get to come back for another round, he will win a Talking Sense, Jeffie, Blue, Freshie. For more information, you can go to the Talking Sense Facebook group, S-C-E-E-E-E. B-N-T-S Facebook group, and find the freshie sent and design for you. If you were someone you love would like to be a contestant on What's the Lie?
Starting point is 00:40:40 You can email Chewing the Fat at the Blaze.com. Matt, how in the world are you? Happy birthday and has anything strange happened to you over the years being born on the 13th, especially specifically on Friday the 13th? Hey, Jeffie, I'm doing good. I'm in Boone again. This is my favorite place. Nice.
Starting point is 00:41:00 I mean, you're living life. In Burgeon Boone, North Carolina. Did you even leave? I did for a few days, and I came back again. Honestly, no. It varies year to year there. I mean, this week's been a rough week. Baby's been sick.
Starting point is 00:41:16 I've been a little sick, and here we are. Yeah, here we are. Now you're out working, spreading whatever germs that kid gave to you, too sick people already in a wheelchair. What's going on? So I know your company fixes, uh, It takes care of wheelchairs and stuff, right? Yep.
Starting point is 00:41:34 Okay. And you can mention the company's name if you want. I won't if you don't have to. But I'm just saying that I just talked about the Paralympics, okay, and how I was disappointed in their outcome in the Paralympics. We're like third place in the world. Come on now. What's going on with American Paralympians?
Starting point is 00:41:54 I know the world trains here and then goes back to their country and, you know, competes against us. So that kind of, that's a, that's a kind of a notch against us already. But you got to figure out something, man. Get them a new wheelchair. Get them something. What is happening? I don't know. That's a good question. I have to look into that. Yeah. You do that. And your company can maybe, you know, help them out. And maybe you get a, you know, an Olympic sponsorship or something and help these kids out. All right. That's a great idea. You're welcome. I know. All right. So I made it pretty easy for you this week. It's your birthday and all. So you ready to play?
Starting point is 00:42:31 Let's do it. All right, four headlines, one not real, returning champion Matt Flores. What's the lie? Headline number one. Man arrested for creating fake bands with AI, then making millions by listening to their songs with bots. Headline number two, Chicago Restaurant debuts the most expensive martini in the U.S. Headline number three, Metamorphosis VR takes Franz Kafka's work and builds a surreal virtual reality world from it.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Headline number four, having chips and salsa, according to a new survey, at an event, is more likely to increase attendance than hot dogs and buns. Those are your four headlines. Headline number one,

Starting point is 00:43:49 likely to increase attendance than hot dogs and buns. There, I finally spit it out for you. Matt, what is the lie? Again, just like lastly, I thought you were going to make this easy. I did. I'm going to go with choice number three. Choice number three? Yep.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Dude, I wanted to give you a birthday present to. Oh, no. Well, happy birthday, and thanks for playing. And thanks for listening to What's the Lie. What's the Lie is a subsidiary of Chewing to Fat Enterprises. All information is probably accurate at the time of recording. CTF, WTL, MMXXIV. So you want to take another shot?
Starting point is 00:44:39 Second one? So you want to take another shot? The last one. There you go. There you go. Congratulations. You'd have had it if you had a couple more tries, no problem. Yeah, I've had a couple more tries.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Matt, thank you very much, man. I appreciate it. And darn the luck. I wanted to give you a birthday present, too. but I did actually. I gave you an idea that could make you a big sponsorship
