Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. We have a fugitive on the loose, possibly two fugitives on the loose, in St. Petersburg, Florida. A manhunt is underway. The first crime was committed a couple of weeks ago, where a truck accelerated through the progressive Pride Street mural, located at a roundabout on 2,500 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg,
Starting point is 00:01:05 we still are on the hunt for that person. The more egregious incident, although could be the same person, we are not sure since the manhunt is underway, occurred at 2.41 a.m. this past week when surveillance footage captured a blue two-door vehicle spinning out and doing donuts over the mural. Ha! the police say we don't believe the incidents are related,
Starting point is 00:01:32 but they have no way of knowing. And this first crime had already been painted over and fixed, while now they're going to have to spend another, well, almost $1,100 to restore the mural, making it a felony case of criminal mischief. So the St. Petersburg Police Department and all neighborhoods are on high alert for this fugitive or fugitives.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Now, spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Police Department, Yolanda Fernandez, who I am familiar with. Yolanda was a news reporter in Tampa Bay when I was living and working there and has since become the spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Police Department. She explained exactly what happened. A truck kind of pulled in to the circle there where the pride mural is on the street and then took off accelerated and left a street mark. Just a few days later, police say another car came to the mural around 2.30 a.m. and did this.
Starting point is 00:02:33 It was clearly intentional because you see the car back up in the video that we have from a nearby business and speed through it. Now there is significant damage. So how much is something like this going to cost? More than $1,000. Oh, no. Oh, no. Not only that, there are many people who are now scared in St. Petersburg. Sterling Long, a bartender at Ritam Cowboy where this crime is visible from their bar is now a little scared. I think we all need to be careful now. There's people obviously out there to get us that are part of the LGBTQ, including myself.
Starting point is 00:03:11 I was actually very shocked and devastated that this happened because they just repainted this and the city spent a lot of money into this. And especially so close to pride, I was very upset somebody would do this. Now, I don't know if the News Channel 8 reporter told Sterling that the mayor of St. Petersburg, Mayor Ken Welch, had condemned the vandalism. And he also wrote, we stand united in valuing and appreciating every resident, regardless of their orientation, gender identity, or expression. And the city will restore the mural in time for Pride Month celebrations. So that should make Sterling at least.
Starting point is 00:03:50 rest a little easier, except that the fugitives are still on the loose. So if you're in, well, St. Petersburg in particular, but anywhere in the country, and you find out who the fugitives are that did this damage to a road in St. Petersburg, well, it wasn't just the road. It was the painting on the road that was damaged. You need to report them and report. them now. Welcome. Welcome to Towing the Fat. Big day today for those of you listening live, it is the 28th of May, 24. It is National Hamburger Day and World Hunger Day. I guess it's going to be,
Starting point is 00:04:45 it's going to be tough to go hungry on a day that's the National Hamburger Day. Oh, wait, that's not what we're supposed to do. We're supposed to just bring awareness to world hunger. Oh, okay. Okay, well, you could drop off, I don't know if they take ground beef, but you can drop off, you know, some kind of canned goods to your local food bank. That is always accepted at these food banks and help people out would be very nice. I see where people, you know, had quite a few hot dogs yesterday. Yesterday was Memorial Day, and it was, you know, that's the beginning of summer. And at least Memorial Day through Labor Day is, you know, the summertime celebrations.
Starting point is 00:05:24 and according to this, seven billion hot dogs, I know it's National Hamburger Day, sorry, but according to the seven billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, that's what Americans eat. I'm a fan. There's 818 hot dogs per second each summer. Devoured.
Starting point is 00:05:50 That's according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage, Council. Man, I am a fan of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Why am I not on that council? About 38% of yearly hot dog sales take place during the season, and with 10% in July alone. Now, Los Angeles, I guess, is the top dog-consuming city in terms of pounds sold over the full year last year? I thought they were smoothies and cooking up kale. Apparently not. New Yorkers still spend the most for hot dogs. Nothing like that dirty water hot dog in New York.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I'll tell you. There used to be a hot dog vendor that would show up on our corner about every other week. I'm sure he showed up because he had to move because he didn't have a license. But it was so good. Those hot dogs were so good. So New York is shelling out 100. $11.4 billion compared to Los Angeles $91.8 million a year. So enjoy your hamburgers and hot dogs.
Starting point is 00:07:02 And of course, remember to drop off some canned goods to your local food bank. And then I was a little worried as I was reading this weekend that the FDA, our beloved food and drug administration, says that a bottled water producer is recalling thousands of cases shipped nationwide due to multiple. issues. They announced that the National Waters of Vita Limited is voluntarily recalling more than 78,000 cases of Fiji natural artesian
Starting point is 00:07:32 water. Due to manganese and three bacterial genera. That does not sound good. But then as I read the story, 99% of all those affected bottles have been reclaimed with the remainder they believe
Starting point is 00:07:50 in warehouses. And those are going to be returned. So, I mean, that's great. And there's no higher priority than the safety and quality of Fiji water. So you can go ahead and drink it now. Don't worry about that manganese and the three other bacterial genera because that's just, well, it's nothing because they've already been recalled and you're fine. You know, unless you've already, you know, gotten sick from drinking.
Starting point is 00:08:20 your Fiji natural artesian water due to the manganese and three bacterial genera so if that's happened man do I feel sorry for you and I would I'll go ahead and contact the FDA or the company the natural waters of Vita Limited because that's who you think of when you're drinking Fiji natural artesian water is man this water from natural waters of Vita Limited is so good except I don't feel really good right now. I wonder if it has anything to do with the manganese and three bacterial genera. No, why don't you just shut up?
Starting point is 00:08:58 You're fine. Oh, okay. With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply.

Starting point is 00:11:12 send yourself an email or write down a note and hanging out of the refrigerator so you do it later today okay shopblazmedia.com promo code blaze 10 so a couple people or maybe one person actually I ought to check their power ball tickets because there's a couple of tickets that have not been picked up and they are winning tickets.
Starting point is 00:11:34 There's a $50,000 prize from the Christmas drawing that's going away soon in Colorado. It was purchased at a Winners Corner Store. So if you usually shop at Winters Corner Store in Colorado, check your tickets. And I hope you didn't throw them away because that's 50 grand that you just threw away. That ticket is only good up to June 22nd. and then there's a $150,000 prize from a Powerball drawing held December 27. That has not been picked up yet. Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:12:13 You have until June 24th to come forward and pick up your winnings on that. Man, that would really sad. I was looking like, okay, so the Powerball and the Mega drew once or twice while we were, you know, the last week or so. obviously we have a new powerball and a new mega millions drawing that are drawing today and tomorrow and uh i don't know i'll get to the totals on that but i thought i might have won i looked at the powerball you know like when you go to the website and you you know you want to see oh did they have a winner and it comes up and it right of that home page is like 143 million 66.8 million cash payout and this drawing is going to be for wednesday may 29th so you know that
Starting point is 00:12:58 that they didn't have a jackpot winner when it's still that high. But they could have other winners. Like they have the match five plus power play, that's $2 million. And they have a match five, which is $1 million. So I always just kind of scroll down a little bit. And I saw the match five, $1 million winner from Texas. And I was like, ooh, could be me. I could just, I could have nailed a million.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Yeah, no. It was down in, I don't know, Houston. or something. Very, very disappointing. Very, very disappointing. I had a little extra help, though, a little extra, well, a little extra hope. Not necessarily help, but hope. And then we have tonight the $489 million jackpot for mega millions. And that is $226.2 million for the cash option. And that drawing is for tonight. So, you know, still. have a little hope left. And we still have a little bit of hope left out of New York, too. The closing arguments in the Donald Trump Hush Money trial begin today in New York, depending on how long
Starting point is 00:14:10 those take, the jury deliberations could begin tomorrow. And there's no guarantee that a verdict will be reached by the end of the week. Twelve jurors will decide if the former president doctored business records in an attempt to conceal payments intended to silence Pornstar, Stormy Daniels, and influenced the 2016 election. You know, all evidence that we've seen as no to that. By the way, it's not, you know, that's not illegal.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And I don't know that that's actually what they're asking the jury to deliberate on. But, okay, so there's 34 felony falsification charges. That's just, I mean, it's just ridiculous. And it carries a possible sentence up to four years in prison, although Trump is unlikely to be incarcerated. Uh-huh, you want to bet?
Starting point is 00:14:56 If they find him guilty, of any of these charges, this judge will throw him in jail. You can go ahead and file for appeals all you want, but this judge will put him in jail. I promise you that. There's no way that Donald Trump gets found guilty and does not go to jail. I mean, it was just going to be incredible to me.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Maybe the judge says, you know, your sentencing will take place a month from now. so maybe by that time the appeals process could, you know, come into place where he wouldn't, they could just throw the whole thing out. But just if you think that they're not going to find him guilty and not throw him in jail, ha! No way. Now, will they find him guilty? I mean, a reasonable person would say no to that. But there was a lot of evidence that we know about that the jurors were not allowed to juror over.
Starting point is 00:15:56 So we shall see. New York may get what it wants. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, though, my friends. The grass is not always greener on the other side. And you can quote me on that, even though that's not a quote for me. Let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. So Mr. Beast has announced a $5 million giveaway.
Starting point is 00:16:30 I think we talked about this before, but I saw the release this weekend. The largest game show ever in history. Inviting people to register, participants must be 18 years of age, have a valid passport through April of 2025, be available from late June to September of 2024. Applicants can submit a one-minute video introducing themselves, stating what they do with the prize money and explaining their desire to compete.
Starting point is 00:17:00 the biggest game show in history, $5 million cash prize, should be interesting. As you seen the 30-minute post, I think it's 30 minutes. Not even 30 minutes, 26 minutes, and it is well worth the watch. He put two people in a room that have never met before and gave them $500,000 if they stay for 100 days. And then he, you know, entices them with things for them to stay. spend some of the money on and the room is uh you know completely white the bathroom is uh there's no cameras in the bathroom but uh they talk about uh their time in the in the bathroom that's their
Starting point is 00:17:43 alone time they each have a bed really fascinating what they do how they go about their days they make it oh did i just spoil it gosh darn it i don't want to spoil it for you they do make it to the hundred days but do they make it with all the money is the question question. It's really fascinating and well worth to watch. And so if it's, if it's game show for the five million is at least as good as that, it'll be well worth watching. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Big trouble. And that I'm not talking about Robert De Niro being trotted out in front of the Trump trial in New York. I'm sorry, did I call him by his wrong name? Robert Dush Nero is out there spewing his anti-Trump hate as usual and pro-biden hate what a nightmare really funny uh audio uh coming from that talk we may
Starting point is 00:18:37 have to do that my favorite part is when he's trying to talk and somebody is just has a car alarm going off or they're just sitting there honking their horn the entire time ha he's got to be so pissed he handled it pretty good though from what i saw but uh he came trotting out with this mask on and uh it's just unbelievable but what i'm talking about is jennifer lopez our girl jalo uh she She's in big trouble. You know, we talked about how her ticket sales for her concerts have not been good. Not been good at all for This Is Me Now. Poor demand has forced the cancellation of seven shows this summer.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Well, she's been in talks with the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for a Las Vegas residency, and she's been holding out for $90 million a show. And that's enough. looking good. The executives are like, nobody wants to see you, J-Lo. And so we don't know that we're willing to pay you
Starting point is 00:19:38 we don't know we're willing to pay you that much money for your residency. Now, I think it was being reported that they had between the MGM and Live Nation, they were going to give her 800,000 a show. And
Starting point is 00:19:54 some other rival casinos said, we'll give you $800,000. 75,000 a show. Oh, okay. Well, now MGM and Live Nation then swooped in and said, hey, we'll give you a million a show. You know, let's do the Let's Get Loud show and we'll do it in. But then, ooh, no, we're watching her not doing well on the road. And we need to redo this contract.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Quit. So now they're saying, you know what? maybe we'll do fewer shows and we'll only pay you about 600,000 a show. What do you say? Because we have not signed the deal yet. We may have verbally agreed to it, although I don't know that they even verbally agreed to it. But good luck to J-Lo, my girl, because, man, she's having trouble.
Starting point is 00:20:47 She's having trouble selling tickets. We're told that the relationship between her and Ben is on the rocks. Love on the rocks! Ain't no surprise. Oh, wait. That's the wrong singer. Anyway, so she's having a tough time. And, you know, she needs a, well, maybe she needs a prayer from us to help Jayla.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Because, I mean, I'm sure she's, you know, she's doing okay. But she needs to, she needs, she needs some money. And the tour isn't doing well. We're looking at, I guess, they gave her, what, 500,000 a show for the, the Planet Hollywood residency that ran 120 shows between 2016 and 2018. That grossed over
Starting point is 00:21:34 100 million, making it the sixth highest Las Vegas residency of all time. Oh, I'm sorry, and the top residency by a Latin artist, because we have to break down everything by race color and creed now. So MGM is paying
Starting point is 00:21:51 Mariah Carey $500,000 a show for her current residency. Now giving J-Lo more than that seems to be not a good idea. That's just me. I would love, you know, J-Lo, I love you. Always have.
Starting point is 00:22:07 But you're not doing well and people aren't paying to see you. So good luck. Good luck. And especially good luck to you and Ben. I know you guys have been in love forever. Times together now, I guess, are tough. Congratulations are in order, though,
Starting point is 00:22:21 to Carla Sophia Gaskin, who is a transgen. gender performer. She won best actress at the Canes Can. I can't say that. I never can say that. See that word and say it correctly. Can. Yeah. At the Cannes Festival.
Starting point is 00:22:40 It was the first time that a trans woman won best actress at Can. And congratulations to Gascon. 52 starred in the Mexican musical comedy. Emily Perez, which we had previously talked about, that's the movie about a man transitioning to escape vengeful criminals. Now, the one good thing about this particular movie is that it's a musical. And man, nothing says musical.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Like a transitioning man trying to escape vengeful criminals. Now, he, she, gave a lengthy acceptance speech on Saturday night on behalf of the film's female cast. She said to every trans person suffering every effing day with hate. And man, I can't tell you how much hate every trans person suffers. With hatred, they denigrate us. This is for you. She also went on to say, terrible critics,
Starting point is 00:23:48 potential backlash over choosing a trans performer and told them to change you, Beth. We all have the opportunity to change for the better, to be better people. If you have made us suffer, it is time for you also to change. And of course, the speech was received with huge applause with the star-studded audience at... Can. She said that he said that he had wanted to be a girl since she was four years old. It was so weird.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Gascon said she had wanted to be a girl. since she was four. But when she wanted to be a girl, technically she was a he. So being trans is unimportant, according to Gascon. We're normal people who can have careers they want. A trans person is someone going through a transition.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Once they have transitioned, that's it. They are what they are. I, you know what? I don't necessarily disagree with that. If you've gone through the complete transition, go ahead. You know what? You want to be a she or a she.
Starting point is 00:24:52 So now you're a she, Gascon, so congratulations, you're a she. But quit whining about when you were a he. Because I feel like you don't get the hate that everyone says that you do. You know what I'm saying? Because I had no problem with trans people. I have a problem with, you know, just an awful movie that everyone thinks is wonderful just because it's about a trans person, someone who's trying to escape vengeful criminals
Starting point is 00:25:24 and it's a musical. I do have a problem with that. I don't have a problem with you, but I digress. Congratulations on your victory at Can. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Introducing the new Peloton Cross Training Tread Plus, powered by Peloton IQ, built for breakthroughs, with personalized workout plans, real-time insights, and endless ways to move. Lift with confidence, while Peloton IQ counts reps,
Starting point is 00:26:08 corrects form, and tracks your progress. Let yourself run, lift, flow, and go. Explore the new Peloton cross-draining treadplus at OnePeloton.ca. Who died today? Who died today?
Starting point is 00:26:24 Wow, I feel like we could have done the entire show on Who Died Today. We have a number of people who passed away since we last met. Bill Walton, beginning with Bill Walton, NBA Hall of Famer passed away from cancer
Starting point is 00:26:37 at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his family when he died. He was a Hall of Fame player, truly one of a kind, said the NBA commissioner. No question. Six foot 11, redefined the center position.
Starting point is 00:26:52 He was awesome. Always a strange kind of character. And he became a, you know, a great announcer that people loved, with his loose personality and his tangents. And Walton actually did overcome a lifelong stuttering situation that he had just so that he could speak to the press and do television. So rest in peace, Bill Walton dead at the age of 71. Staying with sports, we have Grayson Murray, Grayson Murray, dead at the age of 30.
Starting point is 00:27:30 he originally they gave no cause of death when it was first released that he had released he had withdrawn from the tournament that he was in due to an illness and then then he was found dead and of course it was very sadly suicide he had been open about battling depression and anxiety and i guess he recently had sought help for some alcohol addiction as well so he withdrew from the Charles Swab Challenge and then he went home and took his own life. Very sad. Grayson Murray, a PGA performer, sports star, dead at the age of 30. Then we have Morgan Spurlock. Morgan Spurlock. You remember that name from his movie Super Size Me. And he has died at the age of 53.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Now when you think, oh, it was all those, It was all those damn fast food McDonald's gave him the cancer. No, he died from cancer complications. But by all reports, he was a big time drinker and smoker, so we can't blame it all on the McDonald's from Super Size Me. I know you want to, but you can't. So Morgan Spurlock, dead at the age of 53. Then we have actor Johnny Wachter.
Starting point is 00:28:55 They keep coming. Johnny Wachter. dead at the age of 37. He was fatally shot in Los Angeles. Apparently, he was walking someone out to their car from a local establishment, and he caught some men stealing catalytic converters. Confronted them, was shot and did not survive the shooting. Very sad.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Johnny, and he was in general hospital. If you're not sure who he was, look at his picture. you might go, oh yeah, Johnny Wachter. So he is dead at the age of 37. And they keep coming. We have Tanya Summer, a news anchor for WRTV in Indianapolis, dead at the age of 53. She passed away after battling an aggressive form of colon cancer.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Very sad. She said it's a rare genetic mutation called cross G12C mutants. very aggressive very fast growing so was it because of that that made it very aggressive i don't know she told people to get screened um and do it early and get a colonoscopy and uh she said no one wants a colonoscopy but get the thing amen uh so tanya summer uh dead at the age of 53 and we roll on uh Doug engel Doug Engel, founding singer and organist of the rock band Iron Butterfly, and co-writer to Inagana Davida baby, has died at the age of 78.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Now, no cause of death was provided. So if you're looking at me like, you know, it probably was that. It could have been. But they didn't say it because no cause of death was provided. So he was the last surviving member. of iron butterflies in Agada David, baby, the lineup.
Starting point is 00:31:06 All others in the band have passed away prior to Doug. So he's finally with the band in heaven or wherever they all ended up. Rest in peace, Doug Engel dead at the age of 78. Also,
Starting point is 00:31:26 we have the death of Betty Nash. Gosh darn it. I reached out to her. I wanted to talk to her, and it's not very sad that she has passed away. Fly High Betty, Betty Nash, the world's longest serving flight attendant, dead at the age of 88. Very sad. She died a week or so ago of breast cancer, but she never officially retired from her role at the airlines. So she was still, you know, American Airlines here in Fort Worth. I really wanted to talk to Betty. And I'm very sad that she passed away and I did not get a chance
Starting point is 00:32:02 to ever talk to her or meet her in real life. Betty Nash, the world's longest serving flight attendant, dead at the age of 88. And we keep moving on. The real life Indiana Jones. Skyler Jones, a globetrotting American anthropologist. And he drew comparisons from Indiana Jones.
Starting point is 00:32:23 He'd passed away at the age of 95. four doesn't give a cause of death you know it could be that i know but it also said in the story that uh the daughter had been taking care of him for the last six years and the daughter said i truly thought he might live forever yeah as she was taking care of him she was thinking this guy's never going to die but uh he was a fascinating man who lived a lot of life around the world so rest in peace skyler jones the uh the uh the real-life Indiana Jones, dead at 94. And we continue.
Starting point is 00:33:02 It's never ending on who died today. Daryl Hickman, one of Hollywood's most versatile child actors in the 1940s, is dead at the age of 92. There was no death, no cause of death given, although he'd been treated for Parkinson's disease, it said in the story. But he was living at Montecito, California. He was a big-time child star, worked with all the huge stars in the 40s and the 50s.
Starting point is 00:33:33 And then he starred in a movie with Clark Gable just as he was leaving his teens. And he said he missed the special attention of being a kid on the set. He stepped away from acting in the early 50s. And he briefly entered a monastery with thoughts of becoming a monk. He got his first job because what's his face? director john ford said he was the only kid that didn't act like an actor and that made him a star for years through hollywood all through his all through his childhood uh years he said i've had one interview he said i've had 12 psychiatrists and it cost me 85 grand to be able to sit here
Starting point is 00:34:16 with some degree of sanity that's where he did an appearance on a child actors discussion panel for Turner Classic movies. He had amazing life. One of his quotes, though, is really, really fascinating. He said that he could not recapture that high when looking back and on his years growing up in the movie business that he could not recapture that high. A lot of emotional trouble comes not from loathing the life,
Starting point is 00:34:47 but from aching for it. Think about it. Darrell Hickman, dead at the age of 92. Okay, I could keep going. One more, and then I'll save the rest for tomorrow, because it's never ending today. This is just an obituary show. The birds aren't real, Peter McAddoe.
Starting point is 00:35:09 It was announced that he died. I know. And it just said that he closed his eyes, knowing he opened so many more. It didn't talk about anything about how he died or when he died. He said it gave Peter Macandoe 1998 to 2004. The birds aren't real guy.
Starting point is 00:35:28 I've talked to him on this very show and they claim that he died. I think that it's all a ruse. Remember he came out not long ago and said how the birds aren't real thing was just a ruse and I was just having fun. It wasn't real. It was all just to just a tour of the country
Starting point is 00:35:45 and make fun of birds being not real. So I think that Peter McAddo the birds are real guy is still alive. I think this is just a joke that's, well, not a joke joke, but a joke that says, hey, the birds aren't real, because this was posted under the Birds Aren't Real account, the Birds Aren't Real Peter McAdo is dead.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Rest in peace. And I think that we're going to find out soon that the birds are real, Peter McIndoe, is still alive. But that's just me. So in case it isn't, rest in peace, Peter McAdoe, the birds aren't real guy dead at the age of 26. It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats.

Starting point is 00:37:23 But this really would be under the Who Died Today banner, but no one specific. At least 2,000 people are feared to have been buried alive in a landslide in the South Pacific Island nation of Papua New Guinea. The unverified estimate from the nation's government reported yesterday as roughly triple the UN's estimate of 670 people killed in the landside since Friday. At least 150 homes have been buried in debris. Only five bodies have been recovered so far. So I guess the difference in the estimated casualties just reflects on the challenges
Starting point is 00:37:58 of the rescues and, you know, who was reporting struggling to reach the remote. I guess you can't get there. The landslide which swept across the village of Yumbali, which is used to be beautiful, but now no longer beautiful since the landslide has ruined it. Most residents were asleep, blocked the main highway to the area, and caused the ground to shift. Also, long-running tribal feuds in the region pose safety risks for aid convoys with soldiers having to provide security. So, fun times in Papua New Guinea. if you're not sure where it is
Starting point is 00:38:34 I'll hold up the globe it's right here lies north of Australia and they are still investigating the cause of the landslide could that have been part of the tribal feuds who knows we'll find out hopefully here in the near future
