But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no. But chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too.

Starting point is 00:00:33 And now, Chewing the Fat with your fisher. Myself and this program Chewing the Fat forever. And Zimbabwe has finally come to the conclusion that, hey, humans first again. It's been 40 years since the last elephant cull in Zimbabwe. And now they're contemplating culling a portion of its elephant population to address human wildlife conflict and food insecurity. So, I mean, it's been 40 years, but the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, has indicated that culling elephants could be considered to provide food for the population and mitigate the negative impacts of human elephant interactions.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Yes, Zimbabwe has more elephants than we need, and more than its forests can support. So discussions are underway about culling some elephants and providing the dried meat to some of the communities that need the protein. Zimbabwe is the world's second largest population of elephants after neighboring Botswana. So if you're an elephant in Zimbabwe, I would think about moving to Botswana very soon. I'm sure that the elephant protectionist people
Starting point is 00:01:47 are all going to be on the run to Zimbabwe to promote, hey, we don't need to kill the elephants. But Zimbabwe is going to say, yeah, we do. We can call the elephants. We can mobilize the women to dry the meat. I don't know why they're mobilizing the women. I guess they're the ones that dry the meat in Zimbabwe. And they can package it and ensure that it gets some communities that need the protein.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Yes, we're very concerned about it. And its impact on the people who may be going to fetch firewood or water because some elephants have actually killed some people in Zimbabwe. So, humans first. And Zimbabwe is believing in. that as we speak. Again, if I'm an elephant in Zimbabwe, I may be moving to Botswana, ASAP. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. So a lawsuit has been filed against Trojan condoms claiming that they are not safe because they contain toxic forever chemicals. This class action lawsuit filed in Manhattan Federal Court, the plaintiff,
Starting point is 00:03:00 Matthew Goodwin said, Church and Dwight's products advertised as America's number one condom are unfit for their intended purpose because they contain the forever chemicals, the PFA's. Goodman said,
Starting point is 00:03:16 independent lab testing of the Trojan ultra-thin condoms that he bought in Manhattan Pharmacy found a presence of organic fluorine, which is particularly non-existent outside its use in man-made PFA's chemicals.
Starting point is 00:03:32 So based on the label, he reasonably believed the product was safe for use on his genitalia. But no, the defendant had not disclosed on the label that the products contained to PFA's and that harms humans. And he would not have purchased the products. Okay. If you say so, if you say so, we believe you. The complaint seeks at least $5 million. in damages from the Ewing, New Jersey-based Church and Dwight,
Starting point is 00:04:05 for purchasers of Trojan condoms nationwide. There's been no response from Church and Dwight. And so if you are a user of condoms, they claim that 29 popular condoms and lubricants found several with possible presence of PFAs, including the Trojan ultra-thin condoms. So just a heads up. Doesn't say so on the packaging,
Starting point is 00:04:35 but apparently the ultra-thens and some of the lubricants contain PFAs. So if that is a bother to you, heads up, and maybe you could become part of the class action. Five million does not seem like that much. The lawyer's fees will probably be four and a half million. So you may end up getting 25 whole cents and maybe a free box of condoms. Then we have an investigation going on about, tampons and the safety of tampons because they contain toxic metal arsenic.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Is nothing sacred anymore? Come on. All right. So the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, I love them, announced a review of tampon safety in the wake of a July study, which found arsenic, lead, and 14 other toxic metals in the menstrual products. in a statement issued by the agency that said while the study found metals
Starting point is 00:05:33 in some tampons, the study did not test whether metals are released from tampons when used. Yeah, they could just stay in there. It also did not test for metals being released, absorbed into the vaginal lining, and getting into the bloodstream during tampon use. Yeah, so we don't know if it's going to, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:52 seep into your body. So don't worry about it. It's fine. So the research published in Environment, International, and I am a huge fan of Environment International. They tested 14 brands for arsenic, barium, calcium, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, mercury, nickel, lead, selenium, strontium,
Starting point is 00:06:16 vandium, and zinc. Finding found measurable concentrations of all 16 metals assessed. The studies authors noted the unique biology of the vagina includes more permeable skin than any other parts of the body, highlighting that vaginally absorbed chemicals do not undergo first past metabolism and de-toxification via the liver. And instead, directly enter the systemic circulation. So, heads up again, nothing is sacred.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And you have to worry about the condoms and we have to worry about the tampons. So I don't know what to tell you. There's nothing sacred anymore, just be on the lookout for all products used anywhere in the world. I mean, they claim that there's no protection for consumers in the U.S., the EU, and the UK, and so against harmful chemicals, including metals in their products. But the FDA said, hey, hey, hey, before a product is allowed onto the market, bio-compalability testing is undertaken by the manufacturing company,
Starting point is 00:07:26 which is part of safety testing and is reviewed by the FDA prior to that's good. So the company checks on itself and then whatever the company says and reports, the FDA reviews that. So there's absolutely nothing to worry about. Is there? For sure, there's nothing to worry about in the happiest states in the United States. The number one happiest state in the United States of America, according to Wallet Hub,
Starting point is 00:07:59 is Hawaii. So if you're living in Hawaii, nothing to worry about. It's the happiest state in the country. And then they break down the list of all 50 states in the U.S. as under the happiest logo. So you have Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, Utah. Utah is fourth. I feel like Utah should be number one. Utah's a pretty beautiful state. And it's number one in work environment rank and community environment rank, but it's like 27th in emotional and physical well-being rank. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:34 I feel, find that hard to believe. But okay, if Wallup says so, then, you know what, I believe it. Delaware, yeah, Minnesota, Connecticut, Idaho, Nebraska, Massachusetts. Wow, okay, if you say so. So where is the great? state of Texas that this show originates from 38th on the happiest index. Wow, that one, that one kind of hurts. Missouri is 31st, Michigan, or Missouri is 32nd, Michigan is 31st. Where is the great state of Florida? The great state of Florida, my adopted home state. I was born in Michigan,
Starting point is 00:09:14 but I really feel like Florida is my home state. I know. I love Michigan. I do. It was a good state to be from. But I really love Florida. Florida's 14th. Yeah, I feel like Florida could be a little bit higher, but it's 14th. That's not bad. That's not bad.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Let's say you live in the unhappiest states in the United States of America. Let's see, the bottom five, New Mexico, Tennessee, West Virginia, Arkansas, and the unhappiest state in the happiest state in the U.S. rankings Louisiana. I guess that's congratulations.
Starting point is 00:09:56 You're the unhappiest state and the Wallet Hub ranking of the happiest states in the U.S. Louisiana. Wow. New Mexico is a beautiful state, but do you want to live there? I don't know. Are you happy when you're living there?
Starting point is 00:10:10 I don't know. Then, holy cow, 45th is Alaska. Come on now. Alaska is beautiful. If you're from Alaska, you love it. I guess you could say that about every state, actually. If you're from there and live there,
Starting point is 00:10:20 you're happy because, you love the state. I mean, Pennsylvania, where is the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania? 22nd. 22nd in Pennsylvania. I didn't mind living in Pennsylvania when we lived there. It was okay, I guess.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Don't tell that to my wife. But if you are from, let's say, I don't know, Louisiana, the worst, unhappiest, not the worst, the unhappiest state in the Wallet Hub rankings, you might think about, man, I think I need to move. Well, if you think that, maybe you need to get a hold of real estate agents. I trust.com. You know, I mentioned earlier about the condoms and the ultra-thin condoms, and they have these forever chemicals in them. I don't know if it has anything to do with the syphilis levels that are being reported in the United States. Probably not. But I'm just saying that syphilis levels now have not been as high as they are now since the 1950s.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I thought we had that taken care of. But no. The CDC has reported more than 200,000 syphilis cases. The highest counts as 1950. Wow. It's been like tenfold. in the past decade. So the return of syphilis is a result,
Starting point is 00:13:35 oh, let's see if it gets to the condoms, of poorly funded prevention programs, no, over the past two decades and the difficulties in diagnosis. It's not difficult to diagnosis. You have that sore on you. Let me look at that thing. Syphilis is referred to as the great intimidator
Starting point is 00:13:53 because its symptoms can vary widely. Most people don't show symptoms or know they're infected, or even if they do visit the doctor's office, there's no guarantee they'll be properly properly diagnosed. Yeah, and you might not say anything. You know, everything else's fine? Yep, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Well, what about that giant sore I can't see underneath your shirt? You might not want to say anything to the doc about there. So according to this Donna Fox, who is the HIV-S-T-I-Manager, what a good gig that is, at the Toledo Lucas County. County Health Department in Ohio. She noticed about one-fifth of syphilis cases in the area were among people who reported
Starting point is 00:14:38 paying for sex. That's a good eye, good eye there, Donna, good eye. So they started this billboard campaign, and she had the billboard campaigns with the giant bloodshot infected eyes, with the blurry words, eye syphilis is serious, a silhouette of a pregnant woman with a red belly saying syphilis can be fatal to your baby. Yeah, they're getting a lot of that issues as well. That's happening in Houston as well. I think that's where we talked about it before, right?
Starting point is 00:15:06 The influx of, not the influx, but the, well, the influx of immigrants, but also the uptick in syphilis. Apparently, they're not telling anybody not to have sex. No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you to do that. Don't do that. They're telling people to have safe sex and get tested afterward. Right?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Yes. That's what needs to have. happen. So testing is easy. It's either a blood test or fluid from the sore. Yeah, that's wear rubber gloves, whether those gloves have PFAs in them or not. You don't want to be touching that syphilis goo when you're testing, but that's what they do. So a laboratory can study the fluid or the goo under a microscope and confirm that syphilis caused the sore. Yeah, no kidding. Now, it's easy to cure as just penicillin.
Starting point is 00:16:02 And if you're allergic to penicillin or you're, you know, you can't take it. There's other antibiotics that you can take, other processes you can take. So be safe out there. And any time that you have some kind of oozing sore on your body, go ahead and say something to the doc. Okay, just say something. Don't when the doc says anything else you want to talk about,
Starting point is 00:16:26 don't, you know, be the usual. No, I'm good, Doc. I'm just here for a quick update. You might want to lift up your shirt and say, well, it's kind of wondering about this ooze, the sore, this oozing stuff on me. I can't believe people wouldn't tell their doctors that.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Come on, that's what you go to the doctor for. You're supposed to tell your doc what's happening with you. That's why you go. Oh, this is sad. Seriously, if you have any kind of, oozing goose or and you go to the dock say something, okay?
Starting point is 00:17:08 That's all I'm saying. See something, feel something, oozing something, say something. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. Be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffrey JFR on X Jeff Fisher Radio on
Starting point is 00:17:33 Instagram and Facebook, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. is the YouTube channel, and you can always order a cameo from me. That's not free at Jeffey JFR on the Cameo app. You can also email the show anytime chewing the fat at the blaze.com. I see them all. I read them all. I may not respond to them, but I do see them, and I appreciate them.
Starting point is 00:17:55 So if you would like to, you know, if you want to comment, you want to send a joke of the day, you want to be a contestant on what's the lie, chewing the fat at the blaze.com. I got an email from Laura. saying that another great show for me to watch is a show called Whisting. And it's on Amazon Prime. Well, first, let me say this. Thank you, Laura.
Starting point is 00:18:16 I appreciate it. And I thank you for all the kind words that were also in the email. However, I will say this. Whisting is an AMC Plus show. I do like the show very much. It's my kind of show. It's the struggling detective.
Starting point is 00:18:36 You know, he's The life is screwed up, but he's deep into his job, and he's catching after serial killers. And I know it's a Norwegian show, which I don't care. Those European investigation shows are fine with me. I love them. So Whisting on AMC Plus. I mean, obviously you get it through Amazon Prime, which you can't, but it is an AMC Plus show. So, you know, that's separate from Amazon Prime.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Anyway, thank you. I appreciate it. And I do enjoy Whisting. She also mentioned another show that I have not gotten to. I don't know anything about it called Fauda on Netflix. According to Netflix and IMDB, its top Israeli agent comes out of retirement to hunt for a Palestinian fighter. He thought he'd killed, setting a chaotic chain of events into motion.
Starting point is 00:19:26 And I think it's got four or five seasons now, so it may be an actual binge-worthy show. I'll get to it. I mean, there's some new shows firing up right now. Remember we still have a Mad Monkey going on. I think we're at six or episode six or seven now. Just dropped. We have murders, only murders in the building.
Starting point is 00:19:43 We have the old man firing up. We have soon. We have Tulsa King firing up soon. We have, I'm really looking forward to the penguin on HBO. That's firing up really soon too, I think, in a couple weeks, starting on HBO Max. So there's, I mean, there's some shows that are well worth watching. But I appreciate Laura's email. And I do like Whisting.
Starting point is 00:20:09 And it makes me happy that there's multiple seasons. So, you know, it's definitely a binge-worthy show. So your boy, Justin Timberlake. Justin Timberlake. Remember, he got into trouble as he was driving while intoxicated. And he's now going to receive a plea deal, a DWI plea deal. Of course, he's going to, you know, pay a fine.
Starting point is 00:20:34 he can't he will enter a guilty plea of a traffic violation, a far lesser charge. Additionally, Timberlake will have to pay a fine of around $3 to $500, depending on what the judge decides on this Friday, tomorrow, September 13th, when the deal is expected to be rubber-stamped and made official. The plea deal will see the initial driving, well-intoxicated misdemeanor charge dropped. The charge carried a maximum of one year behind bars and a $2,500 fine. Even with the generous deal, Timberlake will not be able to drive in New York State for almost another year. Under the laws of the Empire State,
Starting point is 00:21:11 the suspension of his license was automatic because he refused to breathaly's test when stopped by police in Sag Harbor earlier this summer. So, I mean, he's still be driving in other states. He could probably have a Florida driver license. You know, he just can't drive in New York. Oh, that would be illegal too? Oh, okay, never mind.
Starting point is 00:21:30 That won't happen. That won't happen. He will Uber everywhere. He promised. says I mean, his lawyer still says he was innocent and for right now we're not making any
Starting point is 00:21:42 comment. Well, if he's got a plea deal, he wants it done, right? He wants it done. He got pulled over for drunk driving and you know, over there and I think I don't know, Long Island's Hampton area there. Suffolk County, New York, right.
Starting point is 00:22:00 And we're like, we just want a plea deal. We want this done. It's fine. We're not really seeing any details on the plea and look we're just we're just we want it over with so if you're we'll say this uh if you do not take that breathalyzer test man i know it's going to cost you a little bit of money in the beginning and you will go to jail but man if you take that breathalyzer test uh then they've got they've got some numbers on you if you refuse obviously you know you end up going to jail and you could possibly lose your license but you won't have the DUI stuff
Starting point is 00:22:37 because then you can wheel and deal a little bit. And that's, you know, you have to be, do you have to be adjusted? Timberlake to do that? I'd like to say no. I would like to say no. How about those VMAs last night, huh? I know.
Starting point is 00:22:54 They were fantastic. I watched every, well, I didn't, but, you know, I was watching Whisting. That's what I was watching before I went to bed. I forgot. I was like, oh, crap, that's right. The VMAs were on.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Oh, well, I'm going to bed. So Taylor Swift became the most awarded artist in VMA history, halfway through the night, even before winning video of the year. Closing out the night, Swift was, you know, of course, Taylor, Taylor, Taylor. She thanked her boyfriend, Travis Kelsey, applauding her for every take while filming Fortnite. And, you know, she's, you know, she's, you know, she's,
Starting point is 00:23:34 She's it. She's the deal. And Fortnite won, you know, that was the video of the year with Post Malone. Artist of the year, big surprise, Taylor Swift. Best new artist, Chappell Rohn. I saw her on the, I did see the video clip of her on the red carpet telling some press person to F off and just don't. So she fits right in. She fits right in. I mean, there are obviously the best collaboration.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Taylor Swift, Post Malone. Best pop, I like, Taylor Swift. Best hip hop. Eminem. Eminem pulled a VMA out last night. Wow, nice. Best alternative. Benson Boone, beautiful things.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Benson, I saw a little bit of his performance as he did the flip off of the grand piano. That was, it was nice. Best rock Lenny Kravitz. Still rocking away. Wow. Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Green Day, Kings of Leon Lenny Kravitz, you two. Okay. and the best rock.
Starting point is 00:24:35 And Lenny Kravos beat that up. Bon Jovi. Saving somebody from jumping off a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee. So he probably was thinking that that would get him over the top and win the Best Rock Award at the VMAs. Nope. Best Afrobeats. I love this category.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Best Afro beats. Iris Star, Burnaboy, Chris Brown, with DeVito and Lojay. Thames, Tila, and Usher, please, run and ruin, run and ruin. Tyler won with the water for best Afro beats. Best K-pop, Lisa, with Rockstar. Video for good, Billy Elish. What I was made for from the motion picture, Barbie.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Yeah, Taylor Swift, Fortnite was got the best direction. Best cinematography. Best cinematography went to Ariana Grande. Wow, we can't find friends, wait for our love. Okay, all right. Taylor didn't get that. Interesting. Best editing, they had to throw,
Starting point is 00:25:39 oh, they throw Ariana a bone with the, we'll give her the best cinematography. Okay. Because, I mean, holy cow, the best direction. The best editing, the best, the video of the year, went to Taylor, so they just threw her a bone at cinematography.
Starting point is 00:25:59 That was nice. Okay. All right. All right. Fine. Congratulations to all. There's art direction. Most iconic performance. Most iconic performance.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Beyonce Love on Top. Britney Spears, Christian Aguilera, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Miss Elythe, Like a Virgin, Eminem, the Real Slim Shady and the Way I Am from 2000. And yeah, the Like a Virgin thing was 2003. And from 2013 for the most iconic performance this year, went to Katie Perry and Rory.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Roar. Wasn't she? She won some award last night, too. So congratulations to Katie Perry. And best trending video was Megan the stallion featuring Yuki Chiba, Mamoshi. And I believe Megan was the host of the VMAs. So Megan the stallion was the host of the VMAs. So there you have it. If you were watching a show like Whisting like I was, that's what happened at the VMAs. Boarding for Flight 246 to Toronto is delayed. 50 minutes. Ugh, what? Sounds like Ojo time.

Starting point is 00:27:41 comex Ontario.ca. Who died today? Who died? today. Frankie Beverly. Frankie Beverly dead at the age of 77. Frankie Beverly. He
Starting point is 00:27:57 was the front man for the band Mays. That, his live album, Frankie Beverly, the live album was, I think Mays featuring Frankie Beverly. I don't know what year it came out. There was a time in my life when I could not get enough of that album.
Starting point is 00:28:13 It was awesome. That still might be. I haven't heard it in a long time. but I loved that album. I mean, he had hits before I let go back in stride, can't get over you. I mean, that Frankie Beverly and May's live album, man, was awesome. I listened to that album a lot at a point in my life. So rest in peace, Frankie Beverly from Mays.
Starting point is 00:28:38 I mean, this guy was just, it was awesome. He's been around for a long time. He is dead at the age of 77. no cause of death was given. So I don't know. Sure, it could be that. It may be related to that. It may be related to anything because there was no cause of death given.
Starting point is 00:28:59 His family released a statement saying he lived for his music, family, and friends. I love one another as he would want that for us all. It was signed the Beverly family. And it concluded Howard Stanley Beverly, aka Frankie Beverly, with his. 12-646 to 9-10-24. So again, rest in peace. Frankie Beverly, dead at the age of 77. We do have an arrest in the line fire in California.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Riverside County in California said they have identified and arrested a Riverside County man for allegedly sparking the line fire. 35,000 acres of brush and destroyed at least one home so far. Details surrounding their investigation, don't say anything. They said it's a 34-year-old Norco ban, Justin Wayne Haltstenberg. And they believe that he was the one responsible for igniting the fire, which started in the area of the baseline road, an Alpine Street in Highland on Friday.
Starting point is 00:30:13 It sits and exploded inside. leaving a trail of devastation in its wake as it continues to burn through San Bernardino Mountains, closing in on Big Bear at the latest. He was arrested, booked for arson. He's being held in lieu of $80,000 bail. They did not reveal how they concluded that he started the fire. So, okay. The line fire is one of three major wildfires currently burning in Southern California. The bridge fire in Los Angeles Forest, which erupted to 34,000. this week, forcing multiple communities to evacuate, and the airport fire, which has consumed nearly 20,000 acres
Starting point is 00:30:51 between Orange and Riverside counties and destroyed multiple homes. So as of right now, I think there are more than 60 wildfires burning in the U.S. So we need to, you know, think twice before flicking that cigarette butt out the window because only you, wait, only you. can prevent wildfires. It used to be forest fires, but only you can prevent wildfires. I mean, if they're looking for a new bear, I'm here for you. I'd be happy to, no one supports bears or anti-wildfire more than me.
Starting point is 00:31:35 And I could, you know, I'm good with wildfire or forest fires or, you know, campsites. Only you can prevent camp. site fires. Only you can prevent forest fires. Only you can prevent wild fires. There's my air check. I'm ready to be the bear. And we have Hurricane Francine doing damage. It made landfall last night in southern Louisiana, around 6 p.m. Eastern as a category two. Wends up to 100 miles an hour. Francine was upgraded to a hurricane. Tuesday night, and then it became a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday, and then it upgraded again. So it's a sixth named storm in 2024 season.
Starting point is 00:32:24 It came the fourth hurricane in 2024, so sixth name, fourth hurricane. The average date of the fourth hurricane of the season is September 60th. Yes, they still want, it's got to be worse. It's so bad we can't figure out why it's not a horrible hurricane season. We predicted it was going to be terrible. so they're still trying to figure that out. A lot of damage. A lot of roads are going to be impassable.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I know it's moving inland now. Texas, I don't think got any damage, but if you look at the hurricane center track, it's still tracking northward through Louisiana, through Mississippi, actually. And then into, it looks like it's going to go into the north. east part of Arkansas and some of the southwest parts of Tennessee. And then on into Missouri, it's just kind of, it's a tropical depression now.
Starting point is 00:33:28 So it's just kind of falling apart as it heads inland. So it's going to be dumping a whole bunch of rain on those areas. So heads up. So I started this segment with who died today. I'll end the segment with Who's Not Dead yet. who's not dead yet? Harvey Weinstein. They want this guy,
Starting point is 00:33:50 they can't do enough for this guy to make him dead. So apparently he had another emergency heart surgery this past weekend. He was taken on Sunday evening from the Rikers Island jail to Bellevue Hospital. Nobody talked about what exactly happened, but he was having chest pains. You know, he suffers from. multiple health conditions. I mean, he's had COVID double pneumonia. He's had chest pains and heart surgery a few years ago.
Starting point is 00:34:25 He's got diabetes and high blood pressure. So, I mean, on top of the hundreds of people that have made rape and misconduct allegations against him, he's got some serious health issues now. And so they're just, they're waiting for him to die. Right. I mean, the New York case, those convictions were over. He was found guilty, and those convictions were overturned. So he's waiting a possible new trial later this year on new charges in New York.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Los Angeles and or California say, hey, we found him guilty. Bring him out here. We want him in prison out here. But he's not well enough to travel, so he's staying in prison in New York. And so we'll see. He's not dead yet. I want him to keep fighting. He's always maintained his innocence.
Starting point is 00:35:18 I mean, the man, look, I know he's a douchebag, and he's a dirtbag. But he had like 300 Oscar nominations, his films. He's got 81 Oscars, according to, you know, with his Miramac Studios. And, I mean, it's just, the guy created a lot of stuff, and a lot of those people that are accusing him of bad things,
Starting point is 00:35:41 of, you know, rape and misconduct allegations, They didn't accuse him then because they wanted to win the Academy Awards and make a bunch of money and become stars in film. So was it right? No, it was not. But was it right for them to just look the other way? Well, they looked the other way when it was good for them. And then they started, they looked, they turned back around when it was good for them. So it was all done because it was good for them.
Starting point is 00:36:10 So I'm not saying poor old Harvey, but I'm just saying, I don't know what I'm saying. It just makes me a little wound up all these, so many people that didn't say anything when it actually happened because of the power dynamic. And we wanted to continue to work. And we wanted, we were afraid he would, he would not let us work in any other films.
Starting point is 00:36:34 And we wanted to be stars and make a lot of money. Oh, okay. All right, fine. Anyway, Harvey Weinstein, I went to the hospital with, heart problems again this past weekend. However, it has not been reported that he is dead. So as of now, he is not dead yet. With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Conditions apply. All right, so they were all proud of the big numbers of the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, they claim here 57.8 million viewers across broadcast and cable, significantly more than the 47.9 million who watched the debate between Trump and Joe Biden. Now, the total audience, I heard someone say 60, another 10 million or so, because they say the total audience, when this was reported, is likely to jump higher once more networks are factored in. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:54 They claim that it probably will not surpass the record 84 million who watched the 2016 debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton. So who won that debate? You can listen to Pat Unleashed. When I'm on Pat Unleased, we talk a lot about that, and we talked a whole lot about that. I try to stay away from the full out politics on this show. I'm just letting you know a lot of people watched. And they claim that they want another one from Kamala Harris' team, but Donald Trump is hamming and hawing. He should, you know, Trump went into the fire, and it looked like he was not as prepared as he should have been.
Starting point is 00:38:38 That was my estimation of the debate. I still, you know, I don't think it changed anyone's mind. If you were still a Trump person, you're a Trump person. If you're still a Kamala person, you're a Kamala person. And if you're an independent or an undecided, you should, listened to what both candidates had to say because one of them, Malala Harris, did not really say anything. She may have looked and sounded good,
Starting point is 00:39:04 but what she said was really nothing. Speaking of ratings, though, I see where the NFL averaged 21.0 million viewers per game during the league's opening week. Making it the most watched opening week one. on record. Wow. The league said Wednesday morning that the per game average on TV and digital platforms was a 12% increase over last year. All told, 123 million people saw at least part of one game.
Starting point is 00:39:40 It's the highest total for an opening week since 2019. It's a great start. Yeah. No kidding. Hans Schroeder, executive vice president of NFL media. Yeah, no kidding. I mean, they had the most watched game with the Chiefs and the Ravens Thursday opener, averaging 29.2 million on TV and digital. And the Sunday night football package was the Lions and the Rams.
Starting point is 00:40:08 The Lions won that in overtime. They averaged 22.7 million viewers for that. The first Cowboys game, Sunday afternoon with Tom Brady as a Fox analyst, averaged 23.93 million. and those six games were part of the Fox doubleheaders. They average 18.64 million viewers per game. Yeah, Tom Brady as an analyst, it was interesting coming off of the game before that where the guy that Tom Brady replaced was doing the color.
Starting point is 00:40:42 And he was awesome and always was Greg Olson. And so Greg was, you know, great. And so then we went to NBC. I mean, the afternoon game with Brady, Fox's afternoon game, with Brady as the color analyst. And he was, he was okay. I mean, he's Tom Brady, so you got to give him a pass. He's Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:41:07 But he, I don't know, he sounded nervous, started to, I don't know, kind of felt his way through it a little bit there at the beginning and throughout the game. A couple of times he had great points into the breaks. Other times it seemed like he was, you know, struggling and trying to, figure out how to make his points, just tell us, Tom, you're the man. Tom, we want to hear what you have to say. We want to give us what you think, Tom.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Don't try to question. Just tell us what you think. That's all. And it does let one remember that it's not as easy as it looks. So, you know, you got to you got to stay on point, focused, and it's quick. And it's not as easy as it looks. But you know what? They paid them an awful lot of money. I'm sure that he'll figure it out. All right, let's get out of here with a couple of jokes for the day. I was, if you listened to, I did my Thursday Mojo hit with Brad and Ron with Mojo 5-0 in the morning. If you're listening live, today is the 12th of September, 2024 Thursday. And I started, the reason I did, I did a couple of Red Skelton jokes because I've been reading about Red Skelton for whatever reason.
Starting point is 00:42:16 I don't know, I don't know why. But, I mean, the son of a former circus clown turned grocer. and cleaning woman. Redskilton was introduced to show business at the age of seven at a vaudeville show. At the age of 10, he left home to travel
Starting point is 00:42:31 with a medicine show through the Midwest, joined the vaudeville circuit at the age of 15. At 18, he married Edna, Mary Stillwell, an usher who became his vaudeville partner and later his chief writer.
Starting point is 00:42:45 I mean, he did all, I mean, he did television shows, and he was just so funny. And he was an artist, and he was just a, you know, just a, you know, just a genius of a man, of a guy. I've been doing it forever.
Starting point is 00:42:55 But it got me, I was reading about the other red-skelton jokes. You know, two times a week, we go to a nice restaurant, have a little beverage, good food, and companionship. She goes on Tuesdays, I go on Friday. We also sleep in separate beds. Hers is in California, mine is in Texas.
Starting point is 00:43:19 I take my wife everywhere, but she keeps finding her way back. I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. Somewhere I haven't been in a long time, she said. So I suggested the kitchen. Come on. That's funny business right there. We always hold hands.
Starting point is 00:43:36 If I let go, she shops. My wife told me the car wasn't running. Well, because there was water in the carburetor. I asked her, where was the car? She told me, in a lake. She got a mud pack, looked great for two days. Then the mud fell. off. See, that's not fun. I know. I know what you're thinking. It's just not funny.
Starting point is 00:43:59 She ran after the garbage truck yelling, Am I too late for the garbage? The driver said, No, jump in. I married Miss Wright. I just didn't know her first name was always. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months. I don't like to interrupt her. Last night, the fight was my fault, though. My wife asked, what's on the TV? I said, D. Come on. That's funny business right there. Dream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at the blaze.com slash podcasts. Unwrap holiday magic at Holt Renfrew with gifts that say I know you.
