Starting point is 00:00:00 Blaze Radio Network. And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. Congratulations to Miss Nebraska. Audrey Eckert, Miss Nebraska has been crowned Miss USA 2025. Congratulations to Audrey. They had the big event at Nevada's Grand Sierra Resort on Friday night. Now, she will travel to Thailand next month in November to compete in in the Miss Universe contest.
Starting point is 00:00:32 So congratulations to Audrey for doing that. The 23-year-old beat out 50 other contestants, representing each state for the title. The thing that was kind of weird about this is that last year's Miss USA winner, Alma Cooper from Michigan, yeah, I'm not showing up. You know what?
Starting point is 00:00:55 I'm not going to be there to pass the crown and the sash down. I know it's, I know it's tradition. but, you know, I've made a difficult decision. I'm not going to attend this year's pageant. Oh, okay. Why? Well, as I close out this chapter, I do so with the knowledge that I finished what I started with integrity and my self-worth held high,
Starting point is 00:01:20 just like the crown I was honored to wear. I don't even know what that means. So the president and CEO of Miss USA, Tom Brodoer, shared that, yeah, she's not going to be here, but you're still our queen, and it's not going to, you know, you didn't start this journey and, you know, you'll forever still be our Miss USA 2024. Okay. All righty. Sure.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Sure. Take away from this year's winner by not showing up. But congratulations to Audrey Eckhart from Nebraska, becoming. Miss USA 2025. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat. Fat 5 Plus. So Capital One,
Starting point is 00:02:35 they agreed to a $425 million class action settlement. So the settlement provides relief to customers whose sensitive information was compromised in a major 2019 data breach. Millions of people.
Starting point is 00:02:53 whose data was included in the breach are now eligible for cash payments, reimbursement of expenses, and free credit monitoring services. If you were a Capital One credit card holder or applied for a card between 2015 and 2019, you may also be entitled to a payment under this settlement. Okay. So that's good, I guess. they only, according to this, the lawsuit was filed for two main reasons,
Starting point is 00:03:26 the 2019 data breach, and allegedly misleading advertising in the promotion of the bank's 360 savings accounts. Huh, interesting. So the data breach caused by a vulnerability in the cloud system resulted in the leak of sensitive customers for information, including social security numbers, credit reports,
Starting point is 00:03:48 account details, And, of course, they promoted its 360 savings account as the nation's highest interest rate accounts, when in reality the rates were lower and the bank's newer 360 performance savings product offered better returns. Huh. So apparently they have found now the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CFPB, I love them, found that Capital One's practices resulted in customers losing over $2 billion. in interest income, which was a major factor in the decision to reach this large settlement. Yeah, they lost $2 billion and they settled for $425 million.
Starting point is 00:04:31 It seems to be a discrepancy there, but okay, sure. I'm happy to have the $425 million. All right, so you'll receive a direct cash payment determined by their 360 savings account balance. The payment represents the interest they should have earned by keeping their money on $360 performance savings account. $125 million in increased interest payments. Customers will still hold the money in their 360 savings account
Starting point is 00:04:56 will receive additional interest. Okay. You eligible settlement if you have a capital 1, 360 savings account. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got that. The payment amount will depend on each customer's account balance and interest rate. What about if I just signed up for one?
Starting point is 00:05:15 What if I just say I signed up for one? Don't I get a little money? Cash settlement fund, $300 million. Interest adjustment fund, $125 million. Total settlement was $425 million. Okay. So they expect to start settlement payment distribution next year. Okay, awesome.
Starting point is 00:05:37 So if you visit the official settlement website, you can log on and update your payment option and to ensure eligibility. Okay. Good luck with that. that. You probably should have already done that. But I would give it a shot anyway. Hopefully you get some money. It's always going to be a lot less than what you expected. I will promise you that. Yeah, you can pretty much take that to the bank. There's so many jokes around that. It's always
Starting point is 00:06:10 going to be a lot less than you expected. So we have the Louvre heist still ongoing. and I mentioned that in the Fat 5 on Pat Grant Least this morning. They arrested a couple people. And there's some other things that are ongoing with that case. You can listen to the Fat 5 on Pat Grand Least this morning to get information on that. However, we also have a case that this forgery plot foiled from Germany. German police announced that they have busted a transnational scheme to sell 20 forgeries of paintings. by artists including Rembrandt and Picasso.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Several suspected fakes were seized during coordinated raids across Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Okay. Authorities allege that a 77-year-old German man led 10 accomplices in the scheme that priced a counterfeits between $465,000 and $150 million. The investigators became suspicious after the man tried to sell two sales. supposedly original Picasso paintings on the art market, then claim to possess Rembrandt's. Okay, despite the original hanging in, that's Rembrandt's De Stelmesters. They, that's hanging in some museum.
Starting point is 00:07:34 So an art expert confirmed that the Rembrandt was a copy rather than a lost masterpiece, and the rest of the confiscated works will be examined in the coming weeks. Okay. Meanwhile, French investigators have. collected over 150 forensic samples from the scene of the Louvre heist, and they are moving along on that heist as we speak. So yes, crime still happens. And then there are things that, is it a crime or isn't it a crime? According to this, a Florida man allegedly stole $10,000 from his girlfriend. Now, he placed a bet, and that hit. So he won $1 million.
Starting point is 00:08:17 from that $10,000 money that he allegedly stole from his girlfriend. After pocketing his winnings, he returned to her $10,000 claiming, yeah, we're even. But now she's suing him for $500,000, arguing
Starting point is 00:08:33 the bet and the profit wouldn't have happened without her money. I'm guessing that they're not boyfriend and girlfriend any longer. but I don't know that if she knew about it or if he just took it and thought
Starting point is 00:08:56 you know what she'll never miss it and since he won he thought he'd give her the 10 grand back he should have just replaced it he should have just rolled it up and put it in a drawer where he found it and not said anything but he did and so now she wants her money I'm guessing that he won a million and said
Starting point is 00:09:14 yeah here's your 10 grand you're not my girlfriend friend anymore, which meant that she went ahead and sued him for half a million. So good luck to all involved in that. So in China, they have a real life dating app, real, well, dating apps are real, but they have, you know, real live human beings as their dating app. So every Friday and Saturday morning. Hundreds pour into this hilltop park in southwestern Chinese city looking for love, looking for their kids to get a little bit. That's what they're hoping for. Apparently, these adults are sick of having their kids living at their home and they want them married and get
Starting point is 00:10:31 out. So they show up with a picture of their kid and that shows their gender, their age, their height, job, and what they want, and a partner. Some include details that would be taboo in the U.S. like weight earnings and whether the parents have pensions. Many don't include a photo or name. One volunteer matchmaker, an older woman known as Sister Gow, comes each week with dozens of profiles for attendees to browse. She spends much of her time reassuring parents who don't understand
Starting point is 00:11:05 why their children haven't gotten hitched. So, you know, our generation's concept of marriage just isn't the same as today's, Gao said. And our generation, people put up with a lot. But today, young people think, why should I settle? And they have a wall full of all these people looking for love. So, you know, I don't know if it's good or bad. I just know that according to one single person,
Starting point is 00:11:37 He said that my parents are more anxious than I am. Yeah, they want you out. He works in the restaurant industry, and he came to the market on this day off after much dagging from mom and dad to find a wife. I'm getting old. He's 33. The first modern-day marriage market popped up in Beijing around 2004.
Starting point is 00:11:59 It spread to Shanghai, Gangzhou, Zengu, and other smaller cities. They are largely organized by residents. Yeah, we want our kids to get married and not live at home, and I want them out. And yes, this is the money that they may or may not have. And they have pictures of this park, man, just full of people looking to get rid of their kids. And we're not trying to get rid of our kids. We want them to be happy.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Yes. We want them to be happy and find love instead of, you know, living at home with us. you know, maybe if they were rich, they wouldn't have a problem. Maybe they still would have a problem if they were rich. You know, I was looking at, I just haven't talked about the lottery in a while. Okay, so the Powerball is that drawing is tonight,
Starting point is 00:12:52 which is if you're listing live, today is the 27th of October, 2025. The Powerball is worth $358 million jackpot, $17.7 million cash payout. Again, like I said, that drawing is tonight. Then the mega millions is up to 714 million jackpot, 334.1 million cash payout. That drawing
Starting point is 00:13:19 is tomorrow night, the 28th of October 2025. Now the 24th drawing, I may have won some money on this because I haven't checked my ticket. So they claim here there were 482,430 winning tickets across all prize tiers for a total nationwide winning of more than $117 million.
Starting point is 00:13:41 One ticket sold in Connecticut matched the five white balls to win the second tier prize with the two-time multiplier is worth $2 million. Twelve tickets matched four white balls plus the megaball to win the game's third-tier prize. Seven at two times for $20,000. This is where I think I may have won this for $20,000. Arizona, California, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas. I didn't check. I didn't check to see if by ticket yet.
Starting point is 00:14:12 So I might have won 20,000. And two at three times for 30,000, Michigan and Virginia. One at 40,000, that's in Missouri. I don't care about them. And two at five times for 50,000, Massachusetts and Michigan. Again, don't care about them. But I do care about the possible 20,000 that I may have won from Mega, I'll check my tickets today, as a matter of fact.
Starting point is 00:14:38 You know, speaking to being rich, and you're not going to get, you know, billionaire rich from winning the lotto, although you would be comfortable, and some of it if you won the big ones, would be generational changing, no question. But I was reading, of course, the headline is, this man owns 600 Rolls Royces.
Starting point is 00:14:58 His palace has 1,788 rooms. He pays 20,000, her haircut, meet the Sultan of Brunei. And it says, these are jaw-jopping facts about the world's most expensive lifestyle. Now, I will say the Sultan of Brunei. Okay, so he's only actually worth about $30 billion. He hasn't done anything except, you know, live off oil money for a lot of years. But, yes, 30 billion is a large amount of money.
Starting point is 00:15:31 but he hasn't created anything. So his palace is straight out of a fantasy, okay, the world's largest private residence, spans 2.1 million square feet, 1,788 rooms, as I said, 257 bathrooms, five pools, 44 marble staircases, 564 chandeliers,
Starting point is 00:15:53 with 51,000 light bulbs. Oh, and they're all trimmed in 22-carat-goats. old. Okay. His car collection, 600 Rolls Royces, 450 Ferraris, 380 Bentley's. Most are custom-made, many never even have hit the road. He even had a Bentley create the world's first luxury SUV just for him. That's special. His birthday party cost $27 million. He flew in Michael Jackson for a private show. Oh, there's some Michael Jackson in the news these days as well. Talk about that. His one kid is a little pissed at the family.
Starting point is 00:16:34 He played polo with King Charles. We're back to the Sultan of Brunei. Hosted 3,000 guests from around the world for a single night. Okay. Good for him. And his haircut routine is wilder than most people's rent. He flies his personal barber from London
Starting point is 00:16:50 to Brunei on a private jet. That's $20,000 a trim. And it's not rare because he does it every time he needs a cut. Fly him in. If you're the stylist, when the Sultan rings, you hop on a plane and you go to the Sultan. His private jet is basically a flying palace.
Starting point is 00:17:13 747, crystal chandeliers, solid gold sinks, private royal bedroom, pure gold-plated furniture. Okay. So good for him. Now, the Sultan, again, has a zoo. I'm a fan of that. birds that are trained to play basketball, ride bicycles for his entertainment. Yeah, hello. If you're going to have a zoo, you want animals doing tricks for you.
Starting point is 00:17:38 And, of course, he's, I don't know, he's worth like $30 billion. He made money from his oil. That's it. Which made him the richest man alive in the 80s. But now that's not $30 billion. I mean, Elon and Bezos spit at $30 billion. They're giving that money. money to charities.
Starting point is 00:17:59 So the Sultan of Brunei is still living like the Sultan of Brunei, but he's not the richest man in the world anymore. I'd be sure to follow me on my social media at Jeffrey JFR on X. Jeff Fisher Radio on Facebook and Instagram. You can email the show anytime chewing the fat

Starting point is 00:19:38 Speaking of Paris Jackson, okay, so I was reading this morning that she has made a big claim against Michael's estate, and the whole family is all wound up at her. So she claims that the only daughter of the King of Pop, yeah, she has accused the estate co-executors, John Branca and John McLean, of wasting cash in court papers, claiming the men were like the Wizard of Oz,
Starting point is 00:20:09 demanding trust without transparency. Now, I will say this, Paris was, you know, I guess she's cleaned her act up a little bit, a little bit of an issue with alcohol and drugs for a few years. Why wouldn't she? She's the daughter of Michael Jackson. Hello. So I see a picture of her lately.
Starting point is 00:20:30 She looks good. She's smoking a cigarette. She's getting into her Jeep. She looks good. And thanks to the two people that she's saying are wasting cash, these are the two guys that rebuilt the Michael Jackson estate to owe a money to being worth millions again. So I think maybe she's pissed that she had to thank him.
Starting point is 00:20:52 She thinks she deserves more. The family is pissed that she's starting to divide them over it. So we'll see what happens. But yes, a little up evil in the Michael Jackson world still today. And so we'll see how they get through. Now, I mean, it's worth, I'm sorry, did I say hundreds of millions? It's worth billions now, okay? the estate once in crisis, now estimated to be worth $3 billion.
Starting point is 00:21:19 And I would say that Paris should probably be thanking them for making that happen, but it's never enough, is it? No, it never is. Okay, who died today? Who died today? Well, let's begin with June Lockhart, June Lockhart, the beloved mother figure from Lassie and lost in space dead at the age of a 100. She was, doesn't say what the cause of death was.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Well, it says natural causes. She died in her home in Santa Monica, California, according to her family spokesman, Lyle Gregory, who was a friend of 40 years. I need a family spokesman. Anyway, she was happy till the very end, and she was a prolific actor. She was cast in all kinds of roles. She was in all kinds of movies before she made it to Lassie and then lost in space. Incredible.
Starting point is 00:22:30 And she was in a bunch of other shows as well. And she said, I think my favorite quote from June Lockhart was with she said, I can control my reputation, but not my image. My image is how you see me. She said, I love rock and roll and going to concerts. I have driven army tanks and flown hot air balloons, and I go plane gliding, you know, the ones with no motors. I do a lot of things that don't go with my image.
Starting point is 00:22:59 So June Lockhart, Mom on Lassie and Mom on Lost in Space, dead. At the age of 100. Rest in Peace to June Lockhart. Then we have Dave Ball, Dave Ball, the soft cell musician. Dead at the age of 66. Tainted love. I mean, that song was a monster for them. I love that stupid song.
Starting point is 00:23:32 It wasn't even their song, right? I mean, it was a cover song. Tainted Love, but their version was amazing. That version sold more than 1.37 million copies in the UK and amassed 84 million streams since 2014. I mean, they made some money off of Tainted Love! I love that stupid song. So David Ball, soft-celled musician, dead at the age of 66.
Starting point is 00:24:06 It doesn't say cause of death. It just says that he had struggled with illness for quite some time and off and on. So I guess he wasn't that healthy of a man. He'd been dealing with health issues for several years and his condition had slowly declined. He never gave him his love for music though. And even when he couldn't travel anymore, he kept working at the studio and managed to perform again. And I guess they just got done making an album. with Almond.
Starting point is 00:24:38 And so he and Mark Almond, they were together. That was, I mean, that was soft sell. So, rest in peace to David Ball. Dainted love. Dead at the age of 66. Rest in peace.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Then, we have a former NFL player, former New York Jets, player Nick Mangold. Nick Mangold dead at the age of 41. He had kidney disease and he just asked like a week
Starting point is 00:25:10 ago, was asking the NFL fan base for a kidney. He had no family members that were able to give him a kidney. And so 10 days after he finally asked for a kidney donor
Starting point is 00:25:26 while undergoing dialysis, he passed away. He is dead at the age of 41. Huh. That's really weird that he died to complications of kidney disease. Okay, he was a legendary football player and everybody loved him and I'm sure he was a, you know, he was a fun and great man to be around. But I just wonder how he got kidney disease so fast.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Apparently he was diagnosed with a genetic defect that led to chronic kidney disease. Yeah, that's what it was. So it couldn't have been that, Jeff. What are you thinking? Why don't you just find out what exactly went on? Okay. So his problem was almost a decade old. You'd think that he would be able to find a donor within that amount of time.
Starting point is 00:26:14 But, you know, he's still doing dialysis, and that takes a lot out of you, too, boy. Wow. Anyway, rest in peace to Nick Madgold dead at the age of 41. And the guy that's going to live forever, Brian Johnson, Mr. Biohacker, has now found a way to get rid of microplastics in his sperm. Good for him. He's, I guess he's sperm washing. It's a lab technique that isolates the healthy, active little guys from seminal fluid and debris that uses infertility procedures.
Starting point is 00:26:51 So he believes that he's found a way to improve the quality of his swim team by removing microplastics. Now, he's, I think he's 48 now. I think he says that his body is that of a two-year-old. That's what he's trying to get to, Jeff. It's not that young. Okay. All right. I don't know how young he thinks he is now.
Starting point is 00:27:13 He's 48 R years. You know, I mean, he's dry sonas heat room, 8,000 vitamins, all kinds of stuff. There's a picture. There's a picture of Brian in one of these stories that's talking about how he's eliminating these microplastics from his body. And, you know, I've been reading more and more about. about microplastics and obviously how bad they are and how much of it we have in our body. And he claims that he's gone from 165 particles per milliliter in his sperm to 20 particles per milliliter.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Okay, I mean, good for him. But there's a picture of him sitting out in this what appears to be a medical table, which I'm sure is his home where he tests everything because he's again he's 48 human age but I think he's biohacked down to two now but it looks like I had to actually take a double take it looks like he doesn't have any legs
Starting point is 00:28:20 and I thought holy crap he's cut off his legs that's how he's living so long he's biohacked himself so bad he's actually cut off his legs but it's just the way he's sitting so he is not as to be clear, Ray, Brian Johnson has not cut off his
Starting point is 00:28:37 legs, but he is detoxifying for microplastics, that is for sure. And a big surprise, he actually sells I know, what a surprise, he actually sells a an at-home
Starting point is 00:28:53 microplastics testing kit. Huh! For only 135 bucks and it's billed as the first of its kind. Yeah, I bet. So you prick your finger with a metal lancet instead of the standard plastic encased lancet to prevent microplastic contamination. The blood is smeared on a card that's processed by a lab and the results arrive via email in four to six weeks. I mean, he talks about big no-noes, microwaving food and
Starting point is 00:29:24 plastic containers. I've been hearing that. They're, you're not supposed to use plastic cutting boards while relying on reverse osmosis water system to filter as H2O. You know, I mean, researchers have detected microplastics, which are smaller than a grain of rice, by the way, in the brain, heart, lungs, liver, and placenta, as well as bodily fluids, such as blood, saliva, urine, breast milk, and semen. So it's not entirely clear how microplastics affect sperm, but studies suggest that they could disrupt hormone function
Starting point is 00:30:02 and cause oxidative stress, potentially reducing sperm count and interfering with fertility. And yes, it's difficult to track mitroplastic consumption, but we're trying to isolate it. And I will say this, you don't want to have oxidative stress. You just don't. So if you want to order Michael's kit,
Starting point is 00:30:27 you go right ahead. an order Michael's kid. I'm sure it'll be, it'll tell you how many microplastics you have, and then you can test it again and see where you're at on that. All right, let's get out here. The joke of the day or the thought of the day here on the Fat 5 Plus comes from Fred. Now, Fred claims that he's able to drink a full bourbon
Starting point is 00:30:52 in a glass of bourbon during the Fat 5 Plus show, since it's a little shorter than the regular chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher shows were. So, I mean, he's down in his glass of bourbon with a 30 minute or so show with the Fat 5 Plus. So I will say to this, you're welcome. So he has a, this is more of a thought, more of a thinker than a joke, but it is something, you know, an idea to think about, okay?
Starting point is 00:31:23 What was the best invention after the first telephone run? was invented another telephone. I know, I know. You think that wouldn't be, but I think you understand why it was so important. Stream and subscribe to more Blaze Media content at theblaze.com slash podcasts.
