Blaze Radio Network And now, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher Since most of the country is in the middle of this polar vortex, vortex, vortex, and wherever you live around the globe listening to Chewing the Fat, you may be in the middle of your very own polar vortex, vortex. So I just want to be clear that there's a recall on Vornado air, VH2,
Starting point is 00:00:58 whole room heaters. Yeah, I'm sure you're using them because of the polar vortex cold air that we're involved in right now. But the VH2, whole room heaters, the Vornado air, they have been recalled, and they are sold exclusively on Amazon. And the reason that they have been recalled is due to electric shock and fire hazards. That seems to, that's an issue. That's an issue with any product. The power cord can partially detach from the heater enclosure,
Starting point is 00:01:36 which can lead to cord damage over time posing electric shock and fire hazards. So you need to replace that product. And if you have a Vornado Air VH2 whole room heater, get it replaced immediately. Or you could just tough it out. I mean, it talks about the power cord that can partially detach from the heater enclosure. Just keep an eye on it. And if it hasn't detached from the heater enclosure, you're probably good.
Starting point is 00:02:09 But if you don't want to take the chance, which, you know, that's up to you. I'm not telling you what to do. But they say you should replace it. And you know what? I'm going to say, I agree with them. Go ahead and replace it. Welcome. Welcome to chewing the fat.
Starting point is 00:02:27 So it is day two. If you're listening live today is the 21st of January, 2025. It is day two of the presidency of Donald Trump, 47. 45 and 47. Yes. So he's his second run at doing the job. And while we were chatting, while we were together yesterday, Donald Trump's inauguration speech was the longest.
Starting point is 00:03:00 in modern history, 2,900 words. And as I was thinking, as I was filling in for Pat Gray this week on Pat Unleashed, and I was the designated survivor for the Glembach program, his radio program, they were in D.C., so I had the opportunity, I'm calling it an opportunity. I sat in the radio studio while the show was going on in case something technically happened and we needed to go on the air, which we did not. But I did talk to Glenn and Stu for a little bit, and I talked about it this morning on Pat Gray on leash.
Starting point is 00:03:32 I think I want to pardon. I think I want to pardon because Trump pardoned the J-Sixers yesterday, which I don't know, 15 to 1,600 people that were either convicted or looking to get convicted or it had something to do with January 6th. He pardoned them, which I'm all for good, all for that. And then Biden, of course, pardoned his son, and he pardoned his whole damn fact. family, and his quote was, my family has been subjected to unrelenting attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to hurt me.
Starting point is 00:04:09 These words could have been written by Donald Trump, the worst kind of partisan politics. Uh-huh. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe these attacks will end. Really, Mr. Biden? So, um, the White House announced the pardons with less than 20 minutes left in his presidency. So sometime, obviously he signed them early, and they didn't announce it until yesterday. But sometime between T with Melania and Donald, then I guess he had to run to the bathroom real quick, and then he took care of these pardons.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So James B. Biden, his brother, Sarah Jones Biden, James' wife, Valerie Biden Owens, Mr. Biden's, President Biden's sister. John T. Owens, Ms. Owen's husband. and Francis W. Biden Joe's brother. So he pardoned the whole Biden family. And I wonder what that was for, these preemptive strike pardons. Huh, interesting, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:05:12 All the talk about the possibility of the Biden crime family, and then we have this. Huh, very, very interesting. And I will say that, you know, that's what got me thinking, I want a pardon. I want a pardon.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I just want a preemptive strike pardon. Please, that'd be great. And I would like the prisoner to please let the J-Sixers go. There was some kind of issue with yesterday being a holiday and people having the day off. And the paper is not getting processed in a timely fashion. People were waiting outside the prisons for their loved ones to be released because they were pardoned.
Starting point is 00:05:54 And the prison was like, yeah, we're not doing it. anymore today. I guess they let two go out the back door, but that was it is what I was told. And then I read a story about this Bevelin Williams who was sentenced for her. She was a pro, and she is a pro-life advocate, and she was put in federal prison for three years for protesting abortion. She was pardoned. And the husband went to the prison in North Carolina and said, hey, waiting for my wife to get out. And he didn't sound mad, but he said, I haven't gotten the news.
Starting point is 00:06:34 President Trump has pardoned her just yet. And he's going to have to let the prison know. So as soon as the prison knows, she needs to get out. And he went on to say that, yeah, the prisons are understaffed and it being a holiday. Uh-huh. So the unregistration department is either probably not working today. So let's get to it because they're working.
Starting point is 00:07:01 That was yesterday. So they're working today. Let's let's get these people out now. Now, then I see, and this is kind of rips your heart out. Mark Hamill, he is just distraught with the election of Donald Trump. And just distraught since November. and now that President Trump has been inaugurated, he is going on a week-long protest,
Starting point is 00:07:33 a symbolic protest as President Trump returns to power. He said yesterday that from midnight tonight until next Saturday morning, there's no TV, no internet, no social media, no nothing for me, five-day blackout with a solid black image. and so it's a symbolic protest because he said it's better than none at all. Is it? Is it, Mark?
Starting point is 00:08:08 So look for the solid black banner on someone's social media site, and that means that they are part of the five-day blackout. because, well, Mark posted this on Blue Sky. That's his social media of choice. For sure, Mark's not using eggs. Oh, my gosh. Can't have anything to do with Elon Musk that has something to do with Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:08:36 So he posted this on his blue sky account, the at Mark Hamill official. That blue sky social. And he's doing his symbolic protest. So when you see the black square on someone's social media post, just know that they're probably miserable,
Starting point is 00:08:55 sad and frustrated and just mad at everyone. And they are just, well, they're wearing their misery, you know, on their shoulders. And they've got to have a five-day blackout. And with, I don't know what I'm going to do
Starting point is 00:09:15 the next few days, but if I, knowing that Mark Hamill, is not out there watching TV or looking at the internet or checking his social media. I don't know. I don't know what I'm going to do. If you're listening to this show and you see Mark Hamill out and about during his five-day blackout, wish him my best, would you? With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug,
Starting point is 00:09:58 but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. So our friends at Costco are looking at a possible strike by the Teamsters. The Teamsters don't have anything better to do, so they've voted to authorize a strike, demanding what they call a fair contract before their current agreement expires at the end of this month, January 31st, 2025. 18,000 workers could walk off the job. so members voted by an 85% margin to authorize a strike when their current contract expires.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Now, I guess according to Sean O'Brien, the president of the Teamsters Union, said our members have spoken loud and clear, Costco must deliver a fair contract or they'll be held accountable. From day one, we've told Costco that our members won't work a day past January 31st, 31, without a historic industry-leading agreement. Costco's greedy executives have left in two weeks to do the right thing. It's good. Counting down under two weeks now. We're demanding the best wages and benefits in the industry.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Of course you are. As of this writing, the company hasn't responded with any meaningful counter. So it could happen. I guess if the Teamsters 18,000 shut down Costco, it could happen. I mean, they have, what, how many stores does Costco have now? They operate 897 warehouses,
Starting point is 00:11:41 including 617 in the United States and Puerto Rico. They reported, according to this, $250 billion in annual revenue, and the $7.4 billion in net profits. So they are ready. the readying for a potential strike and we're going to, apparently, they don't know how to strike
Starting point is 00:12:05 in Long Island, New York, and California. So they had a practice strike. They go ahead and practice how to pick it at the Costco store is just giving them a heads
Starting point is 00:12:23 up of what could happen if they go on strike. So be ready to cross the picket line when you go to Costco to pick up whatever items you want to pick up. You might, the items might not be there. Who knows? If they're going to get delivered or not. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:12:38 I see, I mean, the money that they claim that they make, that's what Sean O'Brien uses all the time is these greedy companies and we want a piece of the action. I mean, I saw a new report from Oxfam, and I love Oxfam. They're one of my favorite corporations. Well, they're not a corporation, Jeff. They're a global organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice. We offer life-saving support in times of crisis and advocate for economic justice, gender equality, and climate action. And they demand equal rights and equal treatment so that everyone can thrive, just not survive.
Starting point is 00:13:23 The future is equal. That's Oxfam. They are a 501c3 organization. So if you want to donate, you can donate and it's a tax-free tax write-off anyway because the 501C. Anyway, they claim that the trillionaires are expected to emerge within the next decade. The richest 1% now own 45% of global wealth. 44% of humanity lives on less than $6.85. Per day.
Starting point is 00:13:54 There's an increasing disparity in the world today as an aristocratic oligarchy is amassing wealth at unforeseen levels. And Oxfam doesn't like it. So they published this, of course, ahead of the World Economic Forum, which started today, I believe. They kicked off, for sure they kicked off this week.
Starting point is 00:14:13 I think they all got together to see Trump's inauguration at the Ukraine House or something, if I read that right. So they were all there for the inauguration yesterday, so it kicked off this week. They claimed that
Starting point is 00:14:28 that takers not makers. The billionaire wealth soared $2 trillion in 2024, growing three times faster than the previous year. The richest 1% now own, as I said, 45% of the global wealth, 44% of humanity lives on the 6 to 85 a day. Yeah, they keep repeating themselves. Okay, I don't, we got it, we got it.
Starting point is 00:14:52 We present this report as a stark wake-up call that ordinary people, the world over, are being crushed by the enormous wealth of a tiny few. The report predicted that the world's first trillionaires would emerge within the next decade as the wealth of the richest 10 billionaires grew by 100 million per day, on average, over the last 10 years. Wow, man, it makes you want to be a billionaire, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:15:20 So it makes you're going to be a trillionaire. And who do you think the first trillionaire will be? Probably Elon Musk. And who does he work with? that bastard Donald Trump. Another billionaire I might add. So we got that to look forward to. And if you're a billionaire, you're listening to this show,
Starting point is 00:15:41 good for you. And if you're looking, what could I do with that extra $100 million I made today? My name is Jeff Fisher, and this program is chewing the fat. You know, if you're undecided, I'm here for you. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. You can follow me on my social media at Jeffie JFR on X. And if you'd like to be a contestant on What's the Lie, the game show that we play on Fridays here on Chewing the Fat, you can email me at that same email address,
Starting point is 00:17:00 Chewing the fat at theblaze.com. And you can say, hey, I want to be a contestant. No, I want to be a contestant. No, I want to be a contestant on what's the lie? And then, you know, we'll try to figure it out. Have you seen the freezer doors at Walgreens where they show ads and they come up with merchandise and they show you, you know, hey, sodas are here, milk is here. But I have not.
Starting point is 00:17:31 I go to Walgreens, but I don't go indoors anymore. I do a thing called drive-thru. And so I haven't been inside of Walgreens in quite some time. However, the last time I was inside of Walgreens, the Walgreens I frequent did not have the cooler screens, glass doors. So they started a while ago, we talked about this one. They first started talking about this a few years ago back in, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:18:01 four or five years ago, and they started testing digitized refrigerator screens from this company, cooler screens. And then, you know, the idea is simple. They replaced the clear glass doors in the freezer section with digital displays, sensors and cameras that can be used by marketers to serve targeted ads to shoppers based on factors like age or gender. And the pilot was successful. Two sides entered into a multi-year contract.
Starting point is 00:18:28 However, now we're in big trouble because, uh, Cooler screens sued Walgreens for $200 million in June of 2023, prompting Walgreens to counter sue for monetary damages because cooler screens had already installed 10,000 smart doors at Walgreens locations across the country and had plans for 35,000 more when the pharmacy chain tried to back out over claims of faulty hardware and software. So some of the screens flickered, crashed, showed the wrong products. Some units reportedly caught on fire.
Starting point is 00:19:10 And so at one point, cooler screens cut the data. They said, no, we're not sending the feed to the screens anymore, especially, you know, their home is in Chicago, and those are the 100 stores that we cut the feed in. And the shoppers at those locations saw blank screens. So they didn't even know that there was anything, I mean, well, this is Walgreens case. is that it impacted their sales because they couldn't even see what was on the other side of the doors.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Now, Walgreens says, oh, we're disappointed in the company's attempt to interfere with our customers' experience in certain stores. Cooler screen CEO, Arson Avakanan, I think that's Avakian, A-V-A-K-I-A-N. Avokian. Yeah, that's what I said. Arson. Avokian. The CEO of Cooler Screens claimed they cut the feed to get Walgreens
Starting point is 00:20:07 to respond to overdue invoices for the tech. I got to tell them once, twice, three times, five times. Guys, you got to pay your effing bill. So don't be messing with the CEO of Cooler screens. CEO, Arson. Avokian. Yeah, because you got to pay your effing bill.
Starting point is 00:20:31 So now. the legal dispute still ongoing and cooler screens meanwhile has undergone several rounds of layoffs and even rebranded as cooler x oh so they've changed their name too so maybe there was some issues that they don't want to talk about the company is now focusing on software that can be installed and run on existing platforms rather than also having to supply its own display hardware so we'll see what comes of that, but I'm guessing Walgreens is not going to be using the product any longer. And they're still closing stores in San Francisco
Starting point is 00:21:12 anyway. They just announced not long ago that, yeah, we're going to close at least a dozen locations across the San Francisco area. Yeah, they're going to close by the end of February, and they gave a list of the stores they're going to close. They said it's never an easy decision to close the store and the closures come from increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures that are hurting their ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs. So it's important that our stores, we know that our stores are important to the communities that we serve and therefore we're doing everything possible to improve the store performance.
Starting point is 00:21:54 When closures are necessary, we'll work in partnership with the community. stakeholders to minimize customer disruptions, but sorry, we don't know. They were already going to shut down 1,200 stores nationwide, and we're sorry, we're just, that's the way it goes. They also say
Starting point is 00:22:13 a crime, they would not say that crime contributed to the closures. Wow, but these locations have been plagued by shoplifting for years. Yeah, they don't want to say that because that means that it's a bad neighborhood, and that's bad, that's bad press. What?
Starting point is 00:22:27 You're closing down stores in bad neighborhoods. What are the bad neighborhoods supposed to do for the products that they buy at Walgreens? Well, that's kind of the problem is that the products at Walgreens weren't being purchased. They were being stolen, but they won't say that. What they do say is, yeah, well, we're hurting the ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs. So that has nothing to do with crime, though. Don't talk to us about that. And on top of that, I see where the Justice Department has accused, and it's a lawsuit
Starting point is 00:23:04 against Walgreens, has accused Walgreens for filling millions of unlawful opioid prescriptions. Wow. Okay, so I will just go on record as saying, I don't know that I believe that, but they've filed a lawsuit saying that that's true. It's a civil suit filed in Northern District of Illinois because Walgreens boots a lot. Wallgreen Company, its various subsidies are there. The pharmacy giant knowingly filled millions of unlawful prescriptions for controlled substances from approximately August 2012 to the present.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Walgreens allegedly filled prescriptions for dangerous and excessive quantities of opioids, including early refills among other prescriptions. Not my prescriptions. They didn't. I'll tell you that. I'll go on record as saying, no, they didn't. They were at our hardcore. So the complaint alleges that Walgreens pharmacists filled millions of controlled substance prescriptions with clear red flags that indicated that prescriptions were highly likely to be unlawful.
Starting point is 00:24:08 And that Walgreens systematically pressured its pharmacist to fill prescriptions, including controlled substance prescriptions, without taking the time needed to confirm their validity. Not my Walgreens. I'll tell you that. that didn't happen at my Walgreens, but we'll see how that case works out. And then I saw where Kroger is paying $110 million to settle a Kentucky lawsuit accusing the supermarket chains pharmacies of helping to fuel the opioid epidemic between 2006 and 2019.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Wow. I mean, these companies are paying so much money because they filled prescriptions. really is kind of agonizing. But I will go on record as saying that the Walgreens that I do business with were very strict and were not anything like is alleged in the lawsuit from the Department of Justice. Who died today? Who died today? Well, let's begin with the Cecil Richards. Cecile Richards, dead.
Starting point is 00:26:03 at the age of 67. Yes, the former head of Planned Parenthood has died. Cecile Richards. Now, she was, but she spent more than a decade at the helm of Planned Parenthood. She was the face of death. I'm sorry, the face of abortion rights forever. Cecile Richards. apparently she had some type of cancer.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I think it was brain cancer, but I'm not positive about that. But, you know, I say all the time I don't wish, I wouldn't wish brain cancer on anyone. Just leave it there. She was a big-time proponent for abortion. And she was there during Trump's first inauguration. I mean, she was part of the pink pussy brigade, right? Remember the pink hats that they all wore and they hated Trump? Yes. I think that was the day after Trump's inauguration, right? She had marchers on a woman's march on Washington. I'm pretty sure that was the pink hat crowd. Anyway, she then left a year later because she was diagnosed with cancer. I don't think she told anyone for a couple of years, but she was really, then she got really sick. And she was still a proud proponent of abortion. But the cancer was,
Starting point is 00:27:30 with the battle that killed her. She was, of course, surrounded by family, and they were saddened by her death. So Cecile Richards, former head of Planned Parenthood, dead at the age of 67. Then we have a choreographer, Lynn Taylor Corbett.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Lynn Taylor Corbett. She has died at the age of 78. She died from breast cancer. Very sad. I do not wish that on anyone. She is the, and you say, Lynn Taylor Carver, the choreography, right. She taught Kevin Bacon, his dance moves for starring in Footloose,
Starting point is 00:28:10 received two Tony nominations for her efforts in swing. She, a big-time choreographer, and she was a one-time dancer with the Elvin Ailey's Dance Company. She also served as Broadway choreographer for the 81's Shakespeare Cabaret, the Boys of Winter Chess, all these shows. I mean, there's a long list of shows that she was the choreographer for. Very sad. Lynn Taylor Corbett, dead at the age of 78.
Starting point is 00:28:41 Then we have a stairway. I know. It's close now. The owner of the iconic West Village building that fans of the TV show, Sex and the City, was where Carrie Bradshaw lived. They were pissed. In fact, they've been pissed for years. They described people coming up and getting on the stoop and taking pictures
Starting point is 00:29:10 and wanting to be a part of it because they were sex in the city enthusiasts. So they were called sex and the city enthusiasts. And they tried to get people. They put their ropes on it to put a sign up and ask people not to step on the stoop, said no trespassing. Tough. They don't care. People came up to the iconic brownstone, and they took pictures, and they sat there, and they'd show up in the middle of the night. They'd show up at all hours. And so finally, they got a landmark preservation commission. And they, it's a big deal because it's, you know, it's there. It's the brownstone, and it's sex in the city, and it's New York. And it's where Carrie Bradshaw lived. But they are now going to put gate up. And after 20-plus years of hoping the fascination with the stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for the devotion, no, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial.
Starting point is 00:30:16 So in order to regain a reasonable quality of life for our tenants and ourselves, we need to install a proper gate. And they granted the permission to install the gate. And there you have it. You won't be able to walk up on the stoop of the famous Carrie Bradshaw apartment. I know, I know it's a sad day. Dry your eyes. And we also have got another big lawsuit happening.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Prince Harry, man, he will not let this go. Apparently the trial starts today. If you're, today is Tuesday, the 21st, right? So it says here opening arguments are set to start Tuesday. Prince Harry. is suing the Rupert Murdoch's London tabloid newspapers
Starting point is 00:31:06 because he claims that Murdoch's journalists and private investigators unlawfully gained access to the Prince's personal information for years. Harry has blamed the media and particularly the Murdoch press and significant part for the rift he has experienced with the royal family
Starting point is 00:31:25 and the emotional struggles. Yeah, those emotional struggles experienced by his wife, Megan Markle. They prevailed in the hacking case against the mirror, and now he wants to hold Murdoch accountable too, just for invading his privacy.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I will see. We'll see what happens with that case. I guess he needs some more money, and I don't know why they haven't settled, but Murdoch probably doesn't want to admit anything wrong. But we'll see how that case. We've got to follow that case and see what's happened,
Starting point is 00:31:57 what happens with it, see how much see what happens if it actually comes true. But he'll have to go back to England. Will he see his family? I doubt it. And will Megan ever be there? No way. That's not happening.
Starting point is 00:32:11 So it's Murdoch's fault. It isn't their fault for badmouting the family. And Megan in his ear saying, those people are evil. And the queen and they're racist. And you need to come to, we need to get out of here. That couldn't have anything to do with it. Nope.
Starting point is 00:32:27 It was all Murdoch's fault. And let's not forget that they, of course, Harry and Megan made a statement when META said that they were going to lose the fact checkers. And they had a big statement that they released that it doesn't matter whether your views are left, right, or somewhere in between. The latest news from META about changes to their policies directly undermines free speech. This should concern us all. Contrary to the company's talking points, allowing more abuse and normalize, hate speech serves to silence speech and expression, not foster it. Okay, thanks, Terry and Meg.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Yeah, we got it. You don't want free speech. You don't want people to say what they want to say. Because if they actually express that they don't like you and how agonizing you are, you commoners, we don't need you to speak at all. You speak when spoken too. Am I right, Harry? Yes, of course. Yes, we don't need that. We don't want you speaking about us.
Starting point is 00:33:35 It's just agonizing. It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rink on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no, but chicken tenders, yes, because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials. Order Uber Eats now.
Starting point is 00:34:18 For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. I do want to say happy birthday to Henry, the world's oldest crocodile. Henry is 124 years old. That's what they say. He resides at Croc World Conservation Center in South Africa.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I have not been to Croc World Conservation Center in South Africa. I'm willing to go the next time I'm in South Africa. Henry has fathered an estimated 10,000 babies and continues to amaze visitors with his 16.4 foot frame and 700 kilogram bulk. I know. You don't know what the kilograms are. It was like 1,500 pounds. That's what they claim Henry weighs, something like that. So apparently he was born in.
Starting point is 00:35:10 in 1900 or around 1900. So we're saying around 1900. Who knows? When he dies and we cut him in half and count his rings, he may be older than 125. So he was born around 1900 in Botswana. In the Akavango Delta. He started his life as a fearsome predator
Starting point is 00:35:31 before being captured and moved to a safer habitat. Uh-huh. And that was go to the Crock World. Welcome to Crock World. Henry, get on out here. So his long life is credited to the safety care and nourishment provided in captivity, as well as the anti-bacterial proteins in Nile crocodile blood that help fight off infections. I want some of that.
Starting point is 00:35:56 I'm all for some anti-bacterial proteins in Nile crocodile blood that will help fight off infections. I'm good. So Henry, taking a 10,000 babies. Henry's taking care of a little business in 124 years, 10,000 babies, and 16.4 foot frame over 1,500 pounds, that's what they say. So Henry, happy birthday. Happy birthday to Henry. And congratulations to the Ohio State Buckeyes,
Starting point is 00:36:31 as they are national champions for college football this year. I made it through the, I don't know, there was a couple minutes into the third quarter and I'm like, I'm going to bed. So I haven't watched the whole thing yet. I recorded it. I may go back and watch the second half because the final of the game was 34 to 23.
Starting point is 00:36:54 And I saw where in the second half, the Buckeyes would have only kicked a couple of field goals and then Notre Dame scored two touchdowns. And I guess they went for two because it showed them scoring eight points in each quarter, the third and the fourth. So they made it a game, a little bit of a game. But at the end of the first quarter, they were up seven to nothing, although Ohio State was about ready to score at the end of the first quarter.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Notre Dame drove right down the field, opening drive, touchdown. It looked awesome. And then that was it. Ohio State scored 21 on answer. It was 21 to 7 at halftime. and I made it through halftime because I wanted to see Travis Scott, which we'll talk about in a little bit.
Starting point is 00:37:39 But then I, right after halftime, Ohio State got the ball, and they drove down and they had, they scored again. And it was 28 to 7. It was 12 minutes and 46 seconds left in the third quarter, and I'm like, it's over.
Starting point is 00:38:00 I'm going to bed. I need some sleep. I'm doing bad gray every morning. I wanted to watch the whole game, but I have to go to bed. And then as soon as I got up, and I saw the score, 34 to 23,
Starting point is 00:38:14 I was like, okay, well, they kicked a couple field goals, and Notre Dame, you know, came back a little bit, made it a little respectable, but they weren't going to win that game. Notre Dame did not look like they were going to win that game, and that was correct. So I was glad I got an extra hour,
Starting point is 00:38:30 hour and a half of sleep, instead of staying up and watch Notre Dame lose because it was over at 28 to 7. All right. So then there was a couple stories I see where after the game, Ryan Day and Will Howard, the quarterback and one of the other players
Starting point is 00:38:48 are underneath Mercedes-Benz Stadium and they're getting in a golf cart and they're going to be rolled down to where the press conference is. You know, they're going to hop on and ride down the rest of house because they've got, you know, all kinds of people and are crowding in along the fenced line. And it's not a fence. It's just a roped line where they can see the players and see the coaches and they can yell and scream and holler. And the coaches, and of course Will Howard, the, you know, quarterback, they've got to get to the press conference.
Starting point is 00:39:18 And they don't want to have to deal with, you know, glad-handing every fan that they see. I get that. You know, it's good and it's great that the fans are there. But you don't want to, you've got other things to do. You don't have to glad hand every fan that you see. So this lady, this girl, I don't know who she is, is driving the cart, and she goes to make the turn, and she slams into the wall. It just slams into the wall, and it slammed enough to where it snapped the axle or the tire on the right side of the golf cart. So it's not going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:39:56 And so Will Howard hops off, and he is laughed. He's laughing hysterically. He thinks it's funny. Ryan Day finally gets out and he comes around. And everybody was saying what, how good, you know, and Ryan Day was fine. He was, he fist bumped a fan and said thank you to a couple of fans that were yelling at him. And as he walked away.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Yeah, because he had to. He was so pissed. Because he had to. I mean, he couldn't be as pissed as he wanted to be because of all the fans there and the cameras. But, I mean, he just, he fisted. bumped the guy, said thank you because the guy was, you know, Jeff in Ohio State, you did it.
Starting point is 00:40:34 And, you know, that he's just got to get to the press conference. But it was tremendous. I mean, I don't know who they hire to drive the golf carts underneath Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but whoever they do, they need to find someone else because she's running them into the walls. And it wasn't just a two-seater. It was one of those four-seaters with the seat on the back. so it's actually like a six-seater, counting the driver, right?
Starting point is 00:41:01 So you get two-two and two-facing the other way on the back. So it's one of those big golf carts. And it's not a golf cart, I know. It's just a people-mover, Jeff. And she slams into the wall because she doesn't know the, it doesn't have, you got to make those turns. I just love the fact that Ryan Day was so pissed,
Starting point is 00:41:22 and he couldn't be. It was so good. It was so good. Kept his head down. He was great. Now, let's talk about it. halftime at the national championship game. Half time was Travis Scott.
Starting point is 00:41:33 And I thought Travis Scott is doing the halftime? I didn't really heard that. And then, sure enough, there he was. But again, he wasn't really because he performed during the game, but he was up on the roof of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. So if you were looking to see Travis, really not going to see him, because he's up on the roof. He's performing his new song.
Starting point is 00:42:02 They only showed him for, I don't know, about a couple of minutes, three minutes. It was a three-minute thing. I showed Travis Scott performing his new song. He performed with the marching bands down on the field, but Travis was up on the roof of Mercedes-Benz. So, you know, he got good year blimp taking shots of him and drones doing the shots.
Starting point is 00:42:23 It was really pretty cool. No doubt about it. I'm sure it was cold, looked cold, looked windy. He was doing his new song, I think it's called 4x4, if I remember right. So if you were there
Starting point is 00:42:37 to see Travis because you heard he was going to be at the National Championship, yeah. He was there, but he was upon a roof. So you were just watching the video screens like everyone else. Pretty incredible. And of course it had, I know they had the drones,
Starting point is 00:42:52 you see the drones, had to be the blimp shots, giving him some of the shots. then it was a hundred-year anniversary of the good-year blimp. You know, I had never got a ride on one of the good-year blimps. I rode on the outback, the outback blimp, which was pretty cool. I took my youngest son, Maximus, when he was little, and we hopped on the outback blimp and flew all over Tampa Bay. And it's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:43:18 It's loud. It's a lot louder than you think. But you see it's really cool. You know, see you have the space for the camera. and everything. And the Good Year blimp, I think, is bigger than the Outback blimp was. But it'd be cool. It's kind of a cool thing to do, that's all.
Starting point is 00:43:34 But, you know, it's just a ride and a blimp floating underneath a giant balloon. And we stopped doing that quite a while ago. But not the Goodyear and not some of the companies that have the blimps. Who has, what are all the companies that have blimps now? So I guess we have 25 blimps still in existence. and only about half of them are still in use for advertising purposes. Okay. The Air Sign Airship Group is the owner and operator of eight of the active ships,
Starting point is 00:44:06 including the Hood Blimp, Direct TV Blimp, the MetLife blimp. Yeah, I used to see them flying all over Tampa Bay when I lived in Tampa Bay. You do see them, where I live now, I don't see the Dallas Fort Worth. When they show up for the big games here, they're flying over in Arlington. They don't come all the way over to Fort Worth and fly around. But I used to see them all the time in Tampa Bay. So there's not that many blimps left. So it's not really a transportation thing.
Starting point is 00:44:39 But it's kind of a cool thing for college football when you have a good year blimp or one of the blimps, you know, flying over your stadium. It's kind of cool, right? Yeah, it's a little cool. All right, let's get out of here. I'll leave you with the Joe. of the day from John
Starting point is 00:44:57 he emailed Chewing the Fat at the Blaze.com and John's joke, this is not my joke, but it is John's joke and I like it. It's funny. It made me laugh. It made me laugh. This guy tried to sell me a coffin today.
Starting point is 00:45:14 I told him that's the last thing I need. You see, because it's the last he only doesn't, you understand why it's the last thing he needs, right? Because it's the coffin. Yeah, you got it.
