Season one, episode two, the Walking Dead Daryl Dixon, titled Alloat.
The episode description on IMDB, Darryl, Isabel, Laurent, and Silvie faced trouble on the road.
Isabelle remembers the day the hungry ones appeared.
Laurent struggles to fit in.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, and Maximus Fisher.
welcome to talking walking dead gentlemen jason jason patrol maximus fisher episode two was almost another small movie
i enjoyed it i loved all the flashbacks the flashbacks i mean that's where it costs money
and they're obviously spending money or spent money on the show uh with all the flashbacks i
read a big article on what they had to go through to use Paris as the backdrop for so much
of it.
It took months to make it work out to finally have France and Paris say, oh, okay, it's for
Daryl Dixon.
Go ahead.
You know, to shut it down.
But I really, I enjoyed the entire episode.
And, you know, I believe they've adapted my theory to the new Daryl Dixen.
and show. So I appreciate
that from the
Walking Dead universe.
That's all I'm saying.
Yeah, this episode was really just for
the whole point was just to give them
a reason or way to show the flashbacks.
That was it. Yeah.
Which is, which is fine.
And show Morg and Mindy.
I freaking love that show. I don't care
what anybody said. Like, I know I'm young.
I don't care. I grew up watching Mork and Mindy.
I love that show.
But I would like,
I would like for them to make it a little less
I guess visible that they just copied the last of us
I mean now it's every single episode
there's a new thing they stole and I'm like come on
here's thing is Laurent
is Laurent you'd say the actual
correct pronunciation
father uh actually immune
or is he just or is he just
or did he just was able to survive
Well, I mean, they worked on my theory, right?
My theory was obviously that the baby born is the cure.
But what they did was just to prove me, oh, that's not the way it's done, Jeff.
It's wrong.
It doesn't work that way.
Okay.
So the baby has to be born after the mother turns so that the turning blood is in with the baby.
That gives you the cure.
Okay.
But before the baby turns.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So are we going to find out that he's already been bitten and didn't get sick?
Or is that coming later in the show, you think?
It's going to have to come later.
That'd be very interesting.
That's got to be what they're leading to.
Yeah.
It's got to be.
I mean, again, it's a blatant rip-off.
But at this point, I mean, it sure is.
Just rolling with it.
From a video game from 2013.
They're all stealing from me is what points out to me.
That's all I'm saying.
I mean, you've been saying this since when?
Thank you.
You have been saying this from the beginning.
I've been saying this since at least 1950.
I don't remember the exact date, but it's somewhere in there.
He had one of those classic radio voices, and he was like, what's going on over there?
There's going to be a show called Walking Dead.
And then the babies are going to be the ones that are going to be the cure.
Now back to you.
I enjoyed the episode.
very much. I thought it was a good episode. I, it was, it was very good. The shot very well.
The beginning scene with the partying at first, I was like, what, why are they showed them?
Then they show, ah, he didn't pickpocketing them, nice. Yeah, stealing them, doing drugs,
partying, struggling. We already knew she tried to kill herself. Uh, what are the odds that her,
then, you know, then they, you know, the world is starting to turn, right? And so, uh,
they get their stuff and they're going to get out of the city with boy,
and that's where we get the cis who's pregnant and has the,
you know,
the Walker Cure baby.
But one of the odds that the boyfriend,
who she drove off on with the cis,
is also back in Paris running some of the bad guys.
Oh,
he's got to come back.
Oh,
like they,
they didn't,
them,
I don't think they're going to leave that to red loose.
Right.
It has to be.
Got to.
Yeah,
we were talking before we started this,
but it took me seeing her all dolled.
up to remember
that she's the girl from Harry Potter
and the Gobel of Fire. It was right on the
tip of my time. I was like, where did this chick come from? But that was
her. And she's hot.
Yeah, absolutely.
Absolutely. And so
what's Sylvie? The friend.
That's not bad. Okay.
The friend? Yeah.
The other none? The other none.
Oh! Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Is she the one that like
when they showed? And I saw
the way you were looking at the girl that
in charge of the school.
I saw the way you were looking at her.
Don't deny it.
The girl in charge.
Or were you sitting in my living room at the time?
Should I get more creeped out?
Oh, wait, maybe that was me.
Never mind.
There's a chance that one could be a minor, you too.
No way.
She's an adult now.
Anyway, in my mind, she's an adult.
That's not how it works.
Talk to Russell Brand.
It works that way.
Anyway.
Oh, I know. All right. Stop it. Just a joke. Okay. All right. I will say there are a couple of things that I was, you know, we have to talk about a couple of things that were disappointing. When he, okay, when they went to the castle, right? So they go to the castle and he locks up the schoolgirl. And which, you know, because I'm better working alone, Daryl, of course. Yeah, I got it. And then he throws the rope over the drawbridge.
And the next thing, you know, he's on the other side of the drawbridge.
Okay, we're not going to see him, you know, shimmy across on the rope to get to the drawbridge.
No.
I was actually kind of thinking the same thing because it just barely, like, latched on.
I know.
And there's all these walkers.
So I was like, oh, this is going to be some drama.
And then no.
He's just on the other side.
I was happy seeing a walker mode.
I have to admit that.
Yes.
The walker mode was fun.
There was no doubt about that.
The walker mode was fun.
And we had action from the Walker mode, which was fun.
The castle scene with the guy from Texas and he's running everything in France was kind of...
I loved it.
I can't deny it.
I loved it.
Yeah.
Because I guarantee you there would be some people from...
Like, and I remember there were people like that, like, where they were out of country when it happened.
Like foreigners from when they were in America when the fall happened, they're thinking, oh, it's just here.
everything's fine back home.
Yeah.
I will say that people usually aren't always so stereotypically ridiculous.
That's kind of like the bad thing about stereotypes.
And he's all,
I couldn't stop laughing.
I couldn't stop laughing.
Because of how funny I found it, I will give it a pass.
Yeah.
But that's where you start with the disappointing things.
Can we rewind and go back to where
the master outdoorsman
the survivor of most
but go ahead
oh yeah I know we go on with this
the expert that is going to lead them
through all this hostile territory
to parents
gets jumped by the apple dumpling gang
I mean come on
really
the entire time the every single audience member
is watching this and saying
he's obviously leading you to something
just stop stop running
I don't have to tell him this.
He's the master outdoorsman.
He's going to go after him.
Let's just go after him.
And this was after he knew that he had alerted them exactly where he was when he fired his gun.
So the mule would make the walkers go away.
Right.
That used to be rule number one is don't make a lot of noise.
Right.
But I don't.
No, no, no.
I know.
I know.
I know.
And then the Apple Dublin gang.
When we got back to the school after they were captured.
Father Darrell.
They brought the wagon as well.
You know, they brought everything.
It was, you're right.
It was a strange thing.
I'm sure I understand that.
We get, you needed to get them to the orphanage or preschool or whatever the heck it is.
But maybe have the people that aren't experts in survival, especially in Walkerland.
Maybe they make the mistakes.
And Darrell's just like rolling his eyes, like, oh, God.
No, no, no, don't, don't go.
there. You did go there.
Yeah. Exactly.
That's yeah.
Nickpicking a bit, but come on.
Would have been nice. Plus, then we'll,
so we have that and we have the
getting into the castle. And then
when all said, done,
why doesn't the
preschool move to the
castle? Yes. I don't understand.
They're still going to be in their little
shanty. I mean,
let's pack it up and move. We've got
We've got a new joint.
We've got a new joint.
They were like, here's a backpack full of medical supplies.
Just ignore that there's an entire storeroom of medical supplies.
Literally over there.
And it's completely shielded and protected.
I do.
Walker boat and a drawbridge.
Let's stay there.
I know.
And they just left it like that.
I was like, what?
I do agree.
I do agree with you.
I would have done this.
I'm like, hey, let's move.
But, uh, they are.
kids and they probably just don't want to leave where they grew up.
I know we buried the old lady. I got it. We gave her the
non-no-na-new funeral. Nice. I love that. Max is right. It was
enjoyable to see, you know, Mark and Mindy, you know,
Darrell's, no way. I would have acted the same way Darrell was just with a huge
smile on my face watching that show. I still do. I love Robin Williams.
And I like in the very beginning, too, when the kid was,
happen as they were traveling down the road.
Daryl's like, how about quiet?
Yeah.
I thought, dear God, he is a parent.
How about quiet?
All right.
The Daryl prayer cracked me up, too.
It was great.
It was perfect prayer.
That, like, Daryl, like praying was genuinely a good sin.
That was a great sin.
That was a perfect prayer.
It was.
Now, I granted, it wasn't a priest prayer.
But it definitely was a Daryl prayer.
and it, you know, it was worth it.
It was good.
He was like, you want me to do what?
Like, say grace or something?
Yeah, we said you were a father.
Okay.
So that means prayers.
He's wrong.
I bet he's thinking, I bet.
I bet he's thinking, crap, I don't know.
What would Gabriel do?
Right.
He's like, I mean.
He's like thinking, crap.
What would Gabe?
And his, you know, the manners at the table as we're slurping.
the soup. That was awesome.
Drinking out of the bowl. That was awesome.
So that was fun. I mean, this preschool thing was fun, although I still, I'm really stuck
on why we didn't move to the castle. I really don't understand that. I seriously
don't understand that. Why Darrell wouldn't help them pack it up and, you know, you've got
the garden, you can still travel back to the preschool for that garden, but you're making a
new garden and new security at the castle.
I mean, that's just where you would live.
It doesn't make any sense that they wouldn't do that.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't either.
It was just so weird.
And then, you know, we get to the, anything else before I get to the, as we talk about, you know, as we wrap it up.
Because the flashbacks, I thought were, were pretty good.
The flashbacks were pretty good at the beginning.
And needed.
Yes.
And the birth scene was, I genuinely very good.
yeah that was fun that was fun to see and you know that you know just we saw we actually saw the priest
that they were talking about not zombie yeah that was the walker yeah it was the walker priest and you know he
obviously was a good guy it was uh it was uh nice to have them uh recognize you know my theory
and i appreciate them very oh no we had the we had the we had the we had the one like military dude
with the tattoo on his face walking around like the ruins or the nunnery well that was at the end right
that was the bad guy as he's searching the nunnery trying to get uh find out more about uh the ones
that escaped including darrell and of course you know the stamp tape deck man those batteries never
freaking die and on and on man those things never die i want those batteries
i've got boxes of batteries that don't work in my house i want those how come i don't have those
um i saw one of the things that uh uh
What was I going to talk about?
So he was searching so he knows Daryl Dixon.
He knows the story.
And we did the flashbacks of her with the sister.
Oh, when the flashbacks with all the, as France was falling, a couple of things.
It's strange to me how no one, it's kind of resembling the world we actually do live in,
where everyone was trying to figure out and be,
I guess, empathetic toward these walkers.
You see them in the subways and on the streets as the world starting to turn.
Nobody's just saying, let's kill them now.
What are we doing?
Why are we, what are we doing?
Well, we have to kill them now.
No one really, not a lot of people thought that in the beginning anyway,
that was shown in fear, that was shown in normal walking dead.
And that was shown and will be on.
Yeah, I guess that's true.
And that's probably how it would happen in real life.
Yeah, I kind of like it, actually.
Because yeah, you think about it.
Like, people you know you've seen in the subway every day.
Like, all of a sudden, you're like, dude, what's wrong with you?
Like, you're all right?
Yeah, you wouldn't, you wouldn't think that.
You wouldn't think to just kill them and be done with it.
That's true.
That's true.
Plus, do we, I thought we had a different variant in France.
We have not seen the new variant at all.
We have not seen a burner since episode.
Now this is only episode two, granted.
I know, but there's still the, you know, the dead walkers of slow moving, no fast ones, none of that.
Well, I think we'll still see them.
Like, maybe when we get closer into the city.
That's my guess.
That's what I'm thinking, too.
If they don't, then I'm going to be very disappointed.
Me too.
They've got to play on that after credit scene, you know.
from. Yeah. That was part of the deal.
And like, are they kind of, and it was kind of hinted or was it just outright said that it might
have actually started, this entire thing started in France?
I feel like that's the way they certainly implied it. I don't know that they actually
said it, but that didn't say that, but that might be.
But that's the guy in Atlanta, our guy in Atlanta, was talking to the French people, right?
Yeah. That was the deal. And the French people were talking about the different variants.
and that's where we saw the fast ones.
Yeah, and then that guy, and I'm talking post-credit scene from World Beyond.
When he came in, he said it was you guys, you, the scientist that did this.
So I don't know if he was just blaming them just because, or he was actually acting on actual information.
I'm not sure, but I remember.
Blaming the scientists.
That's what they'll say.
Obviously, one of my, obviously, that was probably the best part about World Beyond was that end credit scene.
but oh 100%
it was the only good thing about world being
absolutely I think maybe they had two end credit
scenes that were worth it through the whole thing right
and just stop before you two start talking about the fat kid
or the kid in Coteroi just stop
I see you're they're smile
you can't see them they're smiling and then cover their faces
that was your boy
that was your boy
Elton.
Carderoy suit, man.
I love Elton.
What are we talking about here?
And don't even mess with my fat guy Silas.
Yeah, I love you.
What do you mean don't start?
Okay, but back to Carol.
This show, yeah, this show is good, man.
This show is good.
And we have to, oh, God, I, like, we said this before last episode, and we'll say it again.
This show, can you, because I think, Feuders.
starts up right as Darrell ends.
Yes, it does.
Imagine we go from this show.
Imagine they genuinely just say
he's good throughout the entire show.
On to fear.
It's going to be such a letdown.
I sure is.
It's most definitely.
Especially no Morgan anymore.
It's going to be a very much of a letdown.
I fear that very much.
I see what you did there.
See what you did there.
Ooh.
Yeah.
Can we talk about,
really quick. So we're
actually seeing teasers
and little clips of
what now has a name. What was the name for the
Rick and Michon Show?
Those that
survive or? Those that live, I believe.
Those that live? Did we know that before?
Yes, we did. We found that out of Comic-Con.
Okay.
You weren't you right there with us in Comic-Con?
Oh, yeah, right there in San Diego.
Or just San Diego.
I keep up with Comic-Con news because I'm a big
transformer nerd. So that's how I knew.
But there's so I don't know I that's got that's got me hype I'm really looking forward to that I think it's if those episodes are getting money spent on them like Daryl's show yes absolutely completely agreed and they've got to right they have to they can't spend more on a spinoff like Daryl Dixon but the main character of the entire franchise is they don't spend the money on him I mean Rick carried that franchise on his shoulders yeah they have to have to
to. That's why it was so amazing that when he left, I just didn't understand it.
All right.
That was Andrew Lincoln's choice and he does say, funny enough, he did say he kind of regretted it
after.
Yeah, because I got to spend some time with my family. Do you?
Do you? Okay. All right. So I did see. I enjoyed that this week's episode was,
oh, man, it was so much longer than last week's episode. If they're all going to be longer,
I'm fine with it. I mean, this week's episode was almost.
almost a minute longer than last week's episode.
So I was looking at that.
Yeah, I felt like I saw a headline like the runtime was longer.
And I looked at the runtime.
And so last week's episode was 59 minutes and 14 seconds without commercials.
This week's episode, 60 minutes and 8 seconds.
So that is less than a minute longer.
Okay.
Well, if you were watching it, I was watching on TV last night and it was, it went into like an hour 20, you know, with the commercials and everything.
And I was like, dang.
It made it feel like, it almost made it feel like a movie.
It's like, jeez.
Both episodes so far has definitely felt like movies, which I, which I love.
Now, I know this next episode, episode three, I think we get to.
to Paris. Wow. I think we do get to Paris because the title is Paris,
Sierra de Janeiro, Paris, which means we'll always be. So Paris will always be Paris,
only smoking some gibberish that they speak over there. So, I mean, I think they're finally,
they do reach Paris, which is pretty amazing. I mean, that's a trek with a broken down
wagon and a horse now instead of a mule that still would take uh take some time yeah and i guess
we just know that the roads are clear we're fine we're not going to run into any more uh apple
dumpling gang there has to be multiple apple dumpling gangs right there has to be yeah there's
got to be i don't know i i hope they don't just like blow past that it'd be great to end at paris at
the by the end of the episode but there's got to be some
kind of struggle to get there. Well, the end point
at this point we know is
the port.
We know that and Paris I think is the
halfway mark they showed on the map, but that's
where they were originally going. He was taking
her and the kid and the other
none to Paris. Yeah. But then
the deal was that she would get him
to the port. Yeah. So we'll
see. We're probably going to spend
more than one episode in
Paris. I mean, it just
has to be. But
we've already signed
a re-up for season two
and there's only six episodes.
So, I mean,
does he even see a port
in this season?
Probably not.
I don't know.
I don't know.
His big deal about wanting to get home
and back to America.
I keep feeling like that's going to
that's not going to happen.
You know what I mean?
He's going to like the nuns
and he's going to want to stay
and he's going to grow attached to the kids.
and it's going to be a whole new Daryl world.
And I just kind of feel like...
Maybe it ends with him bringing the cure back to America.
Yeah, that's possible, too, where he saves them and just we'll take everybody back to America.
Yeah.
I mean, if they're getting all ready to Paris by episode three, then the journey is obviously not the story here.
You know, it's got to be what the scientists are doing or how they interact with this.
kid that's immune?
I hope that's true.
Assuming they're going to last of us.
I hope that that's true.
I mean, I wouldn't mind that at all.
I'd like to see some more battles.
I mean, I love the,
I love the moat walker seat.
The moat walker scene was great.
You know, that was fine.
Stop it.
I'm an American.
Oh, God.
That was so stupid.
Speaking of just a total, okay.
We talked about it already.
stereotypes okay i know but i have to give it a pass it was so funny to me it was so funny to me i have
to give it a pass i'm sorry i get it it's dumb but it just made me laugh so much so bad because
clearly that's what you would say to mindless zombies as they're ripping you apart i'm an american
they're gonna be like oh shit sorry
I didn't know.
Dang.
Oh, what are we even doing here?
So anyway, I'm looking forward to it.
Both episodes have been great and really a lot of fun.
And I'm really happy that they spent the money,
or at least appeared to spend the money that they did on this show.
And let's hope they did that with Rick and Michein as well.
So season three or episode three next week,
it looks like they're going to make it to Paris,
because that's the, you know, Paris will always be Paris.
So it was the title of the show spoken in their gibberish, written in their gibberish.
So that's going to be it, right?
We're going to be hit the city.
So we'll see the ruler, the one, they showed us the one ruler in the preview in Paris.
That black guy?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't know.
We don't know if he's a bad guy or a good guy yet, but.
Oh, well, it would be pretty tough to rule or have some sort of rule in a city like Paris without being a bad guy.
guy.
Good point.
You know, oh, hi, come on in.
Sit out.
Yeah.
Will it.
T.
Really, it's not going to work out too well for you.
So we'll see.
Maybe they survived down in the catacombs.
So we get some shots of all of them with, in the catacombs and stuff.
That would be awesome.
Yeah.
They showed that in the opening credit or the, that's part of the open credit.
Yeah, I don't know.
Oh, yeah, it is.
Yeah, I hope they go.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Dead on dead down there would be great.
Oh, yeah.
Anyway, so looking forward to episode three.
Thank you.
Any final comments, Maximus?
Yeah, I thought this episode was great.
I'm very curious to see where this is going.
The budget of this show seems to be, like, very good.
So they've been spending good money on it.
And I actually have a quick theory.
I want you guys opinion on.
What if somehow the final seven or eight episodes of fear
are like this show and Dead City
where they spend the money on it
so fear ends on a high note
have you are you like to have a fever or something
I don't believe it
but what if
yeah what if
what if
I don't know
the show is so ruined for me
I don't know
I guess it's important if it ends good
it could make it less painful
if they do that for you
if they do what you said it'll be
less painful, but it'll be the same
ridiculous story.
Yeah. And character.
So, I'll wince
a little less, maybe, if that's
what they do. Yeah, but there's no way.
They spent all this money on Darrell. They've been
dropping, they opened up the, we're
hoping they opened up the pocketbooks for Rick
and Michaud. We know they did it for Dead City.
And we know they did it for Dead City.
So fear is just, that's just an afterthought.
We just said they had to end it. It's just an
afterthought. We got rid of Morgan.
And, all right, let what's your face have
the final shows and be done with it
with where we're at.
It's crazy to me. I guess this is my final thought.
Is that
like Hollywood writers
and creators, movies, TVs,
they have so far
fallen behind the power curve of
good storytelling.
Like it's the best storytelling right now
is being done in comic books
and video games.
Right. Amazing stories.
Right. Like amazing. Once
Hollywood gets their hands on it,
I'll like the,
Witcher, they completely screw it up
because they deviate far from it.
But like The Walking Dead, a perfect example.
Comic book. They took it adapted it.
It was amazing. Once they started getting away
from the comic books, it started falling off.
I mean, you could make that case with Game of Thrones too, right?
Exactly.
Yeah, once they deviated from the
actual text, it went downhill.
Yeah, completely. But I mean, it's just like
even now, for this, it appears like
they're stealing from a video game.
You know, the last of us.
That's already stolen from a video game.
Right, exactly.
But I mean, but they have no other ideas.
It's just baffling to me.
But if you have not got into graphic novels and video game stories, you need to.
Because it'll fill your void until Hollywood ships up.
I've been trying to get this one into video games.
Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to use a controller.
Yeah, well, you can't stop me.
I mean, I see those video games, man.
I want to just spend hours there.
I mean, I know Jason, you, I know the people,
I can't see it right now if you're listening to Talking Walking Dead on the podcast,
but you are broadcasting from your library.
There's just thousands, well, hundreds for sure, but maybe thousands of books.
I don't know that you've counted lately.
You really can't count that high?
So, I mean, just it's a lot.
It's a lot.
It looks like a lot.
And I'm just, I'm honored to realize that you're reading all of those because not everyone has a,
green screen library like that.
And that looks good.
I get it.
And the honor is all yours.
All right. Thank you.
Thank you for listening.
And I appreciate it.
We'll see you here next week.
Jason Butchell, Maximus Fischer.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, don't forget to
subscribe to the mothership chewing the fat.
And if you're listening to this
without being a subscriber to chewing the fat,
what are you doing with your life?
Thank you for listening to
Takeh walking dead.
