Season one, episode three, the walking dead Daryl Dixon, titled Paris Sertrudeau-Perie.
Translation, Paris will always be Paris.
Episode description on IMDB, the group arrives in Paris.
Isabel confronts her past while getting closer to Daryl.
Hadron speaks, seeks help from their leader of the growing nationalist movement called Pouvoir,
putting the union of host.
Hope and Laurent, you know, kid Jesus, under dangerous scrutiny.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, and Maximus Fisher.
This is Talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it, Jason, Maximus, Episode 3.
Another little mini film.
I'm really enjoying how they're putting the shows together.
We got some, we had some interesting.
things that happen in this episode.
No question about it. But overall,
another enjoyable
episode. Yeah, totally.
Completely agree. It's like they're continuing this trend
of these movie type episodes
and they're all amazing. The opening scene
kind of cracked me up because I could not
as it was happening with the Walker Orchestra.
Yeah. I could not
like, I couldn't
just do the mental gymnastics
to figure out why that belonged
in the show.
I was like, this was clear.
they were like, oh, I have a really great idea
of a Walker Orchestra.
How are we going to make it make sense in the show?
We're going to fit this in.
Screw it. Let's just put it at the beginning.
It'll be like a cold open.
We have to go to this city.
Well, the hilarious thing is they've built this guy up
from the first episode of like,
oh, we have this contact.
I haven't talked to him in a while,
but we used to have this contact
who was a musician who has a radio
that we can actually like use.
So they've built it up since episode one.
Because all they wanted to do was
give us this orchestra.
It's it.
They built it up through the show.
He goes,
oh, we've got this great idea.
You're 100% right.
It's not like it was random either,
which is the best part.
Walker orchestra.
Nobody, I mean, it's,
perfect.
The guy, it doesn't,
none of them break out.
It's just this crazy guy.
He's turned crazy during the pandemic.
And he's got his Walker orchestra.
And they was like,
what happened to the radio?
It's broke.
And he was like, oh, I needed it for an
amplification.
And then you're like,
I guess the one thing, if you're really digging, the one thing that you could pull out of it was it was just kind of setting up that her contacts may not be all that trustworthy.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And they, you know, it does show kind of the progression of where people are at, you know, now that, you know, we're along in the pandemic.
I did enjoy, you know, as they got out of their horse and buggy, uh, Daryl's like, protect the horse.
Yeah.
What about, uh, what about kids?
Jesus. What are we doing?
Not to protect the horse.
And we got the coming out of there after we're out of here.
We did it your way.
Now we're going to Paris.
We're doing it my way.
We got the chained walker, right?
The walker coming up on them in the wagon in the street.
There was a dragging the other guy as he was chained up, which was, you know, which was
kind of fun.
They're doing a good job with the imagery, for sure, like all these different things.
The protect the horse, I really like because that's like, I think that's kind of Daryl's way of saying,
this kid ain't special.
Stop treating him special.
You know what I mean?
He's normal.
Treat him normal.
Yeah, well, I mean, we find out that later on in the episode, right?
When he says, maybe, maybe.
Yeah.
He was just born at this time and he's just a regular kid.
And that's the miracle.
Yeah.
But maybe not, my friend.
Maybe Laurent is baby Jesus.
and come back to save the world.
Lawrence, you know, reaction after he said maybe he's just normal.
Like, all of a sudden he just, like, falls out of the sky and goes, I hate you, I hate you.
And then just runs off.
I was like, that was the most thing is.
Okay, I know we're skipping to the end of the episode.
I think also they were, I think he overheard Isabel and Daryl talking.
And it was just a mixture of everything.
That's totally what it was.
It was just random because it was like he just fell out of the whole.
in the wall or something like that. He was there.
They're just screaming, I hate you.
God. Which is what baby Jesus
would do.
Are he still just a kid?
Okay.
That's what he is.
Why is he is?
Oh, we had a Jim Morrison's grave.
That was awesome. We get back on track and we get into, we get into Paris and we're
going to Paris and we meet, we see the movement, right?
We make note of the movement.
on the car, right, for the, all the cars painted with the movement of P-O-U-W-U-W-R movement.
The English translation is power.
So, okay.
Is it really?
Yeah.
So, I mean, you say that like you don't speak French.
I mean, I don't know what.
And that's for the listeners.
Oh, okay.
We got the, you know, the graveyard walk was awesome.
And we got to see, you know, Morrison's great.
And, of course, you know, they don't know who he is, which is really funny.
But he's the guy from the doors.
The doors, yeah, hello.
And, you know, we got the, we got, what's his face?
Fallu, the leader of the, I forget what the name of their group is.
You thought he was going to be a bad guy.
Yeah, the, I did too.
And he was, what the heck is the name of his silly group?
I think I wrote it down.
I thought I would have it in my head and I don't.
That's darn it.
Oh, yeah, well, it was in the, it was in the, the, the union of hope.
That's right.
That's what they was in the IMDB description.
They're called the union of hope.
And that's my union of hope.
That's stupid.
Nothing says union of hope like living in a graveyard.
I don't know why you're laughing.
Maybe it's my conspiratorial mind, but if I hear there's a group, a post-apocalyptic,
group called the Union of Hope.
I'm running the other way.
I'm going to here and you're the Union of Hope.
They took them to the camp where they're growing
vegetables and they're overlooking
Perry.
They have messenger pigeons.
Homeing pigeons. Hey,
why not? Right? I mean, I know that
Daryl wants to be able to pick up the radio
that will obviously work
because every electronic
engine that you need to have work in the show
seems to work. Except for the music guys,
radio, because he broke it.
well, he had to provide entertainment with his orchestra.
That was weird, too, because they knew once he started all the music,
it was going to call the walkers, right?
We know that it was going to just, that was all just to see the,
just to have the orchestra, 100%.
I don't mind it, though.
No, it was fun.
It was fun.
Totally.
And I enjoyed, and I did, you know, I kind of enjoyed the whole plan of,
all right, we're out of here.
Let's go.
we're not even going to stop and say we're out of here.
We're not going to try to talk to them.
We're just leaving.
Okay.
Let the grades continue to direct.
So I'm sorry.
I can't do this linear today.
I've got to ask this question.
What the hell are they doing to the walkers?
What are they doing to them?
I don't get it.
Well, you know, Max and I, Max and I were talking about that a little bit this morning.
So, because they said, uh, 18 seconds.
Well, like, I think this one lasted 18 seconds.
What are they doing?
Okay, so I think that that was one of those, the running walkers, right?
Yeah, because it just ran and, like, ran into the window.
Yeah.
But then we had, we also had burning walkers.
So I was right.
Around them, I was right.
What I said last episode, we're actually going to start getting variants now that we're in the city.
And we know that the military group is experimenting on them.
What are the burning walkers?
Yeah, I'm not sure what makes them the burning walkers.
And plus, we learned that the burning walkers,
All right, we'll go back to the experiment that they're doing on the one walkers at their science lab, floor three, of the building that they're in.
The walkers that were the burning walkers, reanimate themselves, right?
So they fell out of the buildings, and then they stood up and were able to continue going on.
And we've seen walkers, you know, fall out of buildings and fall out of buildings and fall out of other places, trees, all that kind of stuff.
And they break their legs and they continue to be walkers because their brain and head are still walkers.
But they can't move.
Their body is, their head is the one that's, but their body can't move.
But these walkers reanimated themselves.
They were able to get up and start walking again.
That's just to, I want to be clear about that.
That's not good.
That's exciting, actually.
For the show, it's exciting.
Yes, it is.
Oh, and we actually saw the little girl being a walker.
That was really interesting.
Yeah, he was all bummed about that.
So they are,
they're experimenting on them to see how to kill them, I'm assuming.
I guess or try to rule it because they had them chained up
and are they just trying to control them?
And then he breaks through the change and then runs into the glass and basically
he dies.
He went super Hulk zombie and then ripped out of those little chains.
Normal Walker cannot do that.
No doubt about that.
And you're not, I mean, you come up against those.
You're dead.
Period. You're not winning that.
So they're inserting something into them because it looked like it was like,
you remember like you could see it like crawling up his face, the walker's.
Yeah, it was weird. It was weird. So like, okay, so we are getting,
like so we are getting variance.
It's just we have to figure out what the heck of there were experimenting on the runners are.
That's cool, man. I'm, I'm digging it.
Yeah, I like, I like the, I like the factions, right? We have the Union of Hope.
and we have the
the one
those are our warrior groups
right
the power group
and that's the group
that the chick
you know the chick
is in charge of
right the power group
and then we bring in
the what's his face
the soldier from the nunnery
who's pissed because he thinks
that Darrell killed his brother
which really isn't true
but nobody cares about that
no it isn't
Darrell did not kill him.
The other girl did.
The other girl with her dad killed him.
But, you know, he believes that Darrell killed him and he comes in to get his job and plays the tape recorder for the chick in charge.
You can keep coming after Darrell because he's gotten his butt kicked now twice.
I know.
So go ahead.
Keep on coming.
He's lucky.
You're embarrassing yourself, dude.
Stop.
I did not think that.
I was surprised that.
At one point, I thought, oh my gosh, well, they're just going to kill him now and be done with it.
But they, of course, he survived.
You know, Daryl didn't have time to finish him off, which was a little disappointing.
Dude gets beat down the entire fight, then is getting choked out, like a little punk.
And he's still going to get up in the next episode.
Oh, I'm going to go get him.
Like, dude, stop.
Okay, I'm not working.
I'm going back a bit on track.
Go back to the chick and tell her you quit.
I will not stop.
Well, maybe now I'm stopping.
After that one, it was so embarrassing.
I'm stopping now.
We had the, we had long, give, like, console the grieving widow.
And then we went, I was so happy we actually went into the catacombs.
Yeah, we talked about that last week.
And they built a nightclub out of the catacombs, which is awesome.
Awesome.
And we get down into the catacombs, which we, you know, we talked about last week had to happen.
And then, of course, what we talked about last week happened with the boyfriend showing up.
showing up because he's in charge of the nightclub and then obviously later on I know we're
we're trying to go in like chronological order but we find out he's Laurent's father
yeah he's baby what a turd you know like what what a complete turn he knew that was his kid
and still lobbied to leave her behind so that Harry Potter chick and him could take off and be
together yeah yeah what a turd yeah absolutely and
he's got an agreement with the chick
of from power to stay
strong. I mean, they all, they've all got
their agreements, right?
With the, with the military
that we'll be here and we'll be
fine, just leave us alone and we're
okay. And I love
I know we're, you know, we're
jumping ahead a little but when
now what's his face? The guy
that's after Daryl.
I can't remember a stupid name. Anyway,
when the guy that's after Daryl that should
quit shows up
at the Union of Hope place.
Is that their name again?
The Union of Hope.
Union of Hope.
Yeah, that is.
Union of Hope.
The,
of course,
they're like the military of today.
We're just coming to crash everything.
We're just going to destroy everything.
Looking for Darrell.
Okay.
How about you calm down a little bit, bro?
Stop,
stop trying to look so tough.
You know what I mean?
He was face tat.
He's always, like, looking mean and gets beat down.
Pops back up, looks mean, gets beat back.
Kicked your ass twice already.
You're lucky to still be alive.
Maybe, yeah, just put some khakis on, get a pink polo shirt, ditch all the tough clothes.
I love the...
Be who you are, bro.
It works security at the nightclub.
I would you do that.
I'd do that.
I loved the scene in the nightclub when they were, like, when they were trying to, like, find people for the boat.
And she opens up the bag that she got from her old apart.
and it's filled with drugs.
Yeah, drugs and all the watches and stuff that she had piled for those good stuff.
And then he's like, oh, this one knows that I'd have a good time.
I used to.
And then I love that her, the old boyfriend, he was mad because the singer gave the kid the Eiffel Tower necklace.
That was a little, you know, he was, he had given her that, guaranteed he had given her that.
I didn't catch it.
He was mad.
Because, yeah, because when he, he was.
said the kid said that he got the singer whatever gave me this necklace he looked like what
them what are we doing i gave i didn't that no and then and then he obviously he goes you look
like you have your mom's eyes remember that remember that uh that's awesome so anyway i mean he's got
a help right he has to because he always said that he he i know that you know some people think
he's a turd okay i heard that but he has
watched out for Izzy in his in his own way.
I know he's a bad guy and all of that stuff,
but he has watched out.
And I guess you would say that he hasn't really watched out for it.
He's controlled her and made sure that she was okay through all this time, right?
So, I mean, he has to help Daryl.
It's just a weird thing.
We'll see what happens because now we're in Paris.
And we have three episodes left, right?
Four, five, and six.
and Daryl's got to
his main goal is to get out of Paris
he got into the fight with Izzy
and he said you know we all we've all got
we've all got crap that we're trying to get rid of
before the pandemic come down
it's not just you
and I don't know if they're trying to
have a little Darrell Izzy business
I don't think so I felt like at one point
they were leaning toward little Darrell
Izzy business
and then
then it kind of went away
because she got mad and he got mad.
But I feel like...
I don't think so.
I really don't think so because...
I know that she's a nun now.
Oh, no.
But she doesn't start out a nun.
I'd be down with a little Dary Potter chick business.
Yeah, because, I mean, well,
Daryl still, he was still...
Because we had a little business going on with a deaf chick, right?
back on the stage.
Yeah.
So
Connie.
So he had
She's still alive?
Yes.
She survived
walking dead, remember?
I don't know.
I never heard her.
But she
I thought she was a
walker.
Okay.
Stop.
Just a joke.
She didn't even make any of it.
That's just a joke.
Stop it.
So, we'll see.
I mean, I love this episode, though.
And we're back to the scientific thing.
Okay, I know we've jumped way ahead,
but back to the science experiment at the lab.
I really don't understand what they were trying to achieve.
18 seconds of what?
Was it 18 seconds of him not ripping the chains out of the wall?
and slamming into the glass.
I think my guess was 18 seconds before whatever they did to him killed him.
That's what I thought.
I could be wrong.
Maybe like, okay, this one lasted 18 seconds.
Like maybe.
They're giving them something to try and kill them, I think.
Or it could have been 18 seconds until he turned into Super Walker.
Yeah.
Encing them.
I guess we got to go with 18 seconds of him not being Superwalker.
How did they get him in there?
to chain him up.
It took longer than 18 seconds to get him in there to chain him up.
It could be either.
They could be enhancing them.
I hope we're able to figure it out because we'll probably get answers.
We have three episodes left.
And then fear comes back, everybody.
Are they talking about doing another season of this?
Yeah, I think it's already been re-uped.
I'm kind of on the fence about that.
I almost wish they would just do a really great, you know.
Yeah, miniseries, and then they wrap it up and it's over,
and you can use Daryl Dixon and one of the other spinoffs, you know, as well.
Yeah, I'd be okay with that.
I mean, look, I'm sure that they can contact you now that the strike is over.
And now you can't help them.
I know you couldn't help it.
You know, now, but I know the deal hasn't been ratified yet, but I guess we're,
we've got a new deal.
This is so off topic, but did you hear what the final hangup was that they were pissed off at?
Oh, no.
Um, it was artificial intelligence.
They were worried about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like, I'm sorry, but, and I know that I'm in this industry as well, but our jobs are done.
Like, they're straight done.
I've gone into Chad GPT and said, you know, create me a script of this, this and this,
or do a show outline and a pitch or whatever for these type of topics.
In like, you could do it like, like, like, you could do a political movie, like in the, you know,
mode of like Aaron Sorkin or something like that.
And you could just say it in the style of Aaron Sorkin, but a conservative Aaron Sorkin, please do a movie script about blah, blah, blah, blah.
And it'll do it.
Well, see, that's the thing.
That's what they're pissed about because it's copying.
It's not like you, Jason, saying, I loved Aaron Sorkin, so I'm going to write a film that resembles the way this film was made.
It was, it's AI going into all of his work and copying it.
Can't stop it.
can't stop it i don't think you can now we can try to control it right i mean that's their deal right
we want to try to control it and use it to our advantage so let's say you do that and you go in
and say you know write me a script which i'm sure probably happens which we've been seeing on blaze tv
and you say uh uh right that and then of course you go back i mean i've listened to attorneys
talk about how they have written closing arguments and written cases and we
using it and then obviously go back and humanize it.
Yeah.
You know, put the human in because that's what it needs.
It doesn't have that human connection yet.
Yeah, but it's going to.
Eventually.
Right?
I mean, it has to look, the biggest, all the, I know this is off walking dead, I know,
but all the, uh, all the, uh, all the, uh, studies have proven over the years with robots
that people are okay with robots as long as they know.
know they're robots. Because when they, because they feel like, uh, they, they know that we're
human and you're robots and we're fine with that. But when you try to put a robot in as a human,
people are always like, hey, that's not quite right. That's not, we don't like that. You're trying to
pull over on us. And it doesn't work because it's not reacting like a human would react. Then they get
up. Yeah. Yeah. But it's getting there. I mean, I, it's getting there. And I look, I'm, if someone can
bring in a robot to my house so it could clean and
cook and do the dishes, I'm all about it.
There's one that can clean. It's called a Roomba.
I'm all about it.
It's just insane. I feel like Hollywood is like,
they're like the little Dutch boy trying to put their fingers in the dams.
You know, pretty soon there's going to be some studio
that wants to make a Walking Dead type movie, you know, or a TV show.
And they don't need any actors and they don't need any writers.
All they need is a computer.
because AI can generate all that stuff.
And they're going to do a movie that would have cost like, you know,
$50 million, they're going to do it for $100.
It's going to be insane.
I don't think that's going to get that far.
The thing is is that it's totally going to.
It's almost already there.
Yeah, they will say, and then they will promote it as this is how it was done, right?
This is how it was done.
And everyone will judge it against the humans.
So are you going to the human theater or are you going to the AI theater?
and, you know, that's, or, you know, obviously, though, I won't be a different theater.
That's just stupid.
It'll be just a different movie house.
It's just dumb.
But, I mean, that will happen.
Oh, that will, yeah, I can see, like, the Screen Actors Guild.
They'll do a deal like that where they're like, these theaters are part of, are part of SAG.
Yep.
So, if you want to see real movies, go to the SAG approved.
Yeah, real movies.
Yeah, you're going to have to.
And you're going to end up having, all right, never mind, I'll stop.
A little bonus content.
I'll stop.
Thank you for listening to Talking Walking Dead.
Back to the show, Daryl Dixon.
Yes, about the show we were talking about.
So we'll see.
I mean, at the end,
Darrell is on a rooftop, it looks like,
and then falls through the glass
or the covered-up ceiling
that cracks and breaks down,
and that's the end of the show.
So we don't know how far he falls,
and we don't know what happens there.
But he's definitely,
we're in Paris now for probably,
close to the duration of the episodes.
Which is cool. They're doing it really well.
Absolutely. And Paris is crying.
As Falus said, listen, that's just not wind through the tunnels.
That's Paris crying.
Oh, okay.
I loved him actually.
That's the Union of Hope.
I loved him saying in the tunnels.
He was like, oh, this might be your first time going through this as an American,
but France has dealt with multiple apocalyps when in the cat goes.
Yeah.
There's no doubt about that.
It was cool.
we had to, I mean, you had to do the show in part of the catacombs, even if it was just a,
a small walk through the beginning of a tunnel, which is really all we saw.
But, wait, the bar wasn't actually under France?
No, I don't think it was.
I believe it was just a Hollywood room, but, uh, it's okay.
I did enjoy the, I did enjoy this episode, though, no question.
100%, uh, looking forward to the next three.
And, uh, they've actually, between.
between
what's his face
Negan and this show
they've really outdone themselves
and we will have to
and have to gut ourselves through fear
very disciplined
we may pull the plot
I tell you I will say this
and this is we may have an argument about this
in this house but if the first or two episodes
are
terrible
talking walking dead will
just say they're terrible and we're moving on.
No, no.
That's right.
I wanted to, I was the, look, I let you off with it with Tales of the Walking Dead.
I let you off with Tales and we just did one episode.
Did you let me off?
Yes, because I wanted to do one for every episode, but you said no to doing it on Tales.
I thought this was Jeffie's show.
Did you, uh, did you know that, uh, Hollywood and AI will be soon breaking apart?
Did you know that?
Oh, God, not this is.
Maybe you should have a discussion on that.
I've said this before.
Fear may be,
maybe the end of fear might be good.
Might.
Yeah, yeah, it might be.
And I'm looking,
I am looking forward to it because it's bringing it to an end.
That's what I can't wait for.
So we will make it through that,
okay, back off me.
What if the credits are good?
Like the whole end season isn't good,
but then the last episode's credits
are the best part.
That's very possible.
That's very possible.
So anyway, final thoughts, Mr. Bunchel?
It kind of seems like the biggest plot is what's going on with this new, you know, this gay nationalist
group.
I think that, oh, whoa, I think that the what?
This what nationalist group?
They're happy.
You know, they're just very, very happy.
All right.
I'm sorry.
I misunderstood what you said.
They're obviously super happy.
super happy that
they get their butts kicked nonstop
every time they go out
but I think that's the main
plot line and I'm really
interested in it I don't really like the group too much
because they just don't really seem scary
but I'm intrigued about what they're doing
yeah I'm just intrigued about what they're
I mean she's I don't know
that they have to be scary they've got the military
and they keep the city
safe
right from walkers and from
they control everything and then you're
allowed to do your little thing over there.
And we make,
and you just keep in line.
Right.
So it's, it's,
we were so spoiled as fans because,
you know,
we've seen really good adversarial groups like,
you know,
Nigan or the whispers.
And so it's,
every time this,
like,
everybody,
all the other groups that spin up afterwards,
kind of just seem like wannabes,
I guess.
So I'm like,
okay.
Well,
we're at a point now where we're,
we're,
those people are dead.
those people are dead so the people are in charge are you know the the literal new world order
i mean i mean beat team or not they're the ones that are in charge right they're keeping everybody
in line commonwealth CRM these guys they're just miltent groups i will be interested to see if
this chick though from uh power right uh if she's in contact with uh with people in the states
we have to know if she's in contact with CRM or someone in our new formed government
because they have to be, right?
I mean, in my mind, they would have to be.
Why are they going to the United States?
Does it make any sense?
Well, that's kind of true, too.
But it goes to what you're talking about, though.
I mean, they could be sharing information or something between the two groups.
Well, to me, that would have to happen because they want to try to control.
the walkers, but each group has their own scientific experiments that they're doing.
And if they're, are they sharing all their information?
Doubtful.
You know, because if I am able to control a walker that reanimates itself and can run
and run through a brick wall, I want that walker on my side.
Yeah.
Right?
I mean, that's the walker I want.
I get it.
They're trying to control walkers, but the only one who's really.
done it successfully funny enough are the
whisperers.
Yeah, and they didn't necessarily
control it, although I will say
Michone also learned
how to do it.
She had the one chain.
I know, but she controlled them.
By cutting off their jaws so they can't bite.
Which was awesome.
And I love that. All right.
So any final thoughts, Maximus?
I thought this was a great episode. I can't
wait to see where this story goes and how
this season ends. Um,
really, I just think this show is really, really good.
Yeah, it definitely has been really good.
And, yeah, I'm just excited to see what's next.
Absolutely, it definitely has been really good.
Okay, so thank you for listening, and we will see you back here next week on Talking Walking Dead.
