Season one, episode four, titled Everybody Win Surprise, Talking, Walking Dead, Dead City Edition.
Welcome to it, myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Bunchel, and Maximus Fisher.
Episode description on IMDB, Maggie and Deegan carry out an attack, but not everything unfolds according to plan.
Ginny and Armstrong make an unexpected contact.
with others.
Welcome, welcome to Talking, Walking Dead.
All right, so there you have it.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, and Maximus here today,
Jason off gallivanting the countryside somewhere.
He'll be found.
He's not missing yet.
I haven't put out a missing person's report yet,
but hopefully he will be returning to us next week.
Maximus.
First thoughts on the episode.
I thought it was okay.
Definitely it wasn't the best episode we had so far,
but definitely wasn't a awful episode.
I don't think it reached fear levels of down.
No, it did not reach that level, no.
But it definitely wasn't the best,
even though I did love seeing Simon again.
Yeah, we had the flashback to the sanctuary,
which was fun to see.
And, you know, we got to see exactly, you know,
one of the things that, you know, made Croat the, uh, the psychopath even worse than Negan.
We don't hurt kids.
And, uh, he was like, you know, I do.
So get over it.
So maybe we'll get a flashback of how Negan tried to kill him and missed.
We might get that.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Um, and then we had, uh, then we came back to the present time.
And, uh, the group was.
was looking for Luther.
I wonder what happened to Luther.
I wonder what happened to Luther.
I wonder where he went.
By the way, speaking of which, I haven't found the cheese grater either.
Do anyone know where that went?
No, we don't.
No one happened to it.
Nobody came back with the cheese grater has blood on it saying,
why do we have a cheese grater with blood on it?
No, we have not found that.
And so, and then we had, you know, Negan,
and this handwone, and Maggie,
and Negan doesn't want to go back to the old days and Maggie with her harmonica story.
And okay, fine.
I will say that one of the scenes in this episode showed the city streetwalkers when they were,
oh, they were going to the subway.
They were going to the subway.
And they showed some city streetwalkers.
Streetwalkers, while they weren't the fast ones, the European fast ones,
They seem to be moving a little bit faster than the regular walkers.
They're speedwalking.
Yeah.
I was really surprised about that.
That made me think, okay, well, maybe we will run into,
maybe there are a couple of speedwalkers out there that rule the group, right?
Because the one episode of the one show we watched, what was the name of the shows?
Tales of the Walking Dead.
The one episode had where certain walkers lead the group, right?
So maybe we have that.
Maybe we have some speedwalkers.
and some power walkers where they're you know they're rule in the group no problem so uh then we found
uh you know they went down to pen station went you know underneath and they're in pen station and
the in the old Penn station looking through the offices and they found a kid that they thought we
thought was herschel for sure you know it wasn't going to be herschall right it just wasn't
there's no way we're going to find herschel at the bottom of uh Penn station that's just not
going to happen but i did and the group was making their plan of attack which i thought
we had already done but I guess we had to do it again for the show and we had Maggie
we had Maggie C. Luther's beeswax can yep and Negan's backpack awesome awesome stuff and
then she's like oh yeah no there's not coming back okay I know all you people were looking
for him but he's not coming back okay and she gets pissed over that and he gets like hey
let me explain now she doesn't want to hear it she knows she knows what happened
and Luther didn't want to be a part of it
and he was having none of it
she doesn't know the cheese grater yet
but she knows
and then we get to the Croat in the control room
which I found interesting because he's got a kid running the control room
down there which was fascinating
and shows him how to run the DVD player
which is the countdown to the explosions right
I didn't know they were I didn't know they were
and then we found it oh they're evacuating Penn Station
right right well they're
And I don't know that they're evacuating all of it because he probably has it.
As far as I can tell, they have it blocked off most of the area.
So they're just letting the walkers into the lower dome of the Penn Station so that they can get rid of these people.
And then they'll probably come back in and clear it out and use the walkers for gas.
I mean, that's what they do, right?
I mean, but it was interesting to see the explosions opening up the,
doors and letting in the walkers into Penn Station. With the music, with the music,
playing to draw them in. Yeah, it was awesome. And I'd still don't get, um,
we had Negan's whistling, right? With so that Kroat knows that it's Negan. But they
showed a scene where Negan was in the lower bowl with the cars, kind of hiding. And he didn't,
it wasn't whistling. And look, maybe it was like, I think they were playing some type of audio.
I think he had like an audio track playing.
I know, I mean, does Deegan have his tape recorder and his backpack?
We're not aware of him?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Or was it Jenny that was whistling?
It wasn't Jenny because he didn't, I don't, it wasn't that whistle, but it.
And we didn't get Jenny whistling to save the stuffed animal.
No, we don't.
So we don't know if Maggie burned it or she changed her mind.
We still don't know.
I feel like she didn't burn it.
I feel like because Jenny showed up and she was there and she was.
okay with Maggie.
I mean, she knew Maggie, and she knew Maggie was with Negan.
So she was okay with Maggie.
So I feel like she didn't burn it.
I feel like that, too.
Because if she didn't, if she burned it, no way, Jenny, is that nice to her.
Yeah.
It allows her in like that.
No way.
That just doesn't happen.
Then we had Neegan, Croat chasing Neegan up the stairs.
Yeah, it was kind of disappointing too.
You know, I really, I wanted a better meeting than these two running from each other.
I just felt it was anti-climantic.
And then with the, with the marshal?
Yes, we had the marshal.
And that was a fun, that was a fun little scene where he brought the marshal out
because he knew the marshal wasn't who they were looking for.
Yeah.
They knew that.
And so he brought the marshal out just to, you know, mess with Nigg.
and to actually measure where Negan was.
He was shocked and the Negan saved him.
Right.
Right.
He was.
And so was I, to be honest.
You should just let him go.
Especially that happened at the end.
I know it's the new Negan, but just, what are we doing?
Let the guy go.
You're not there to save him.
And he's after you.
So screw him.
And then they, you know, then they save him.
And then comes where the guy, the marshal is going to try to arrest him again.
And stop it.
Stop it.
What Nika called him a dick.
And Nika should have just killed him right then.
What are we doing messing with this?
The Marshall thing has got it.
Well, that has to.
You know, maybe he helps in the end.
Maybe, maybe he helps in the end.
Maybe we go to my theory still holds true, which I believe it does.
That, you know, the Marshall works with them to get, get, grow at, take over.
They save the kid.
But the kid is going to stay with Negan.
It's not going to happen.
Maggie and the marshal take off and go back to New Babylon.
Yeah, New Babylon.
And with the sad look on her face.
And Negan is sitting in the throne at Penn Station saying,
Manhattan.
Well, Penn Station's gone now, so that has me another building.
That's mine.
No, he'll take it back.
It takes it back.
That's not going to happen.
I'm telling you it's going to happen.
I just, I don't understand.
You know, I really want.
wanted their meeting to be, I don't know, better, I guess.
You know, they see each other on the stairwell.
Then they came out on the walkway.
I don't know.
The scene where they're all surrounded by the walkers was really good.
Okay, so now they're in the lower bowl, right?
And all the walkers are coming in, and they're surrounded.
And you knew they were going to get in the cage.
We had three deaths, I think.
There was their only safe space was in the cage, the fight cage.
The octagon.
And so we ended up there.
And we had one guy who ends up the, I don't know, stupid name, but he's with the new Manhattan group.
And we figured he was dead, but no.
He's alive.
No, he's alive.
The Balia, the guy who escaped originally.
Yeah, yeah.
He survives.
He's surrounded by walkers and buried by walkers.
But no.
he will not be denied life
and he continues on and he comes
back to save them in the end
and you know we realize
that we have you know the shields
from the corners of the octagon
to get through the walkers okay
I mean I feel like there should have been
more walkers
oh yeah
there's just there's still a lot
I know but there's no way they're getting out of that
without the way they got out of it
we've seen we've seen worse
Yeah, we have.
And then they ended up in the bottom basement room.
Now we're going to go through the sewer.
Right.
Which is filled with methane.
Yeah, now we're going to go through the sewer.
I mean, I liked when they were getting into Penn Station as they were walking the subway tracks, you know, with the walkers.
Yeah, with the track walkers still kind of dead.
They're walking over them.
I mean, we know that the walkers could still be alive.
I'm surprised they didn't wake up at least one.
I don't know why we did just crunch them in the head
and kill them as we're walking by them.
But whatever, okay.
We're just going to walk by them.
Clear us.
Okay.
All right.
Fine.
No problem.
And then we're going to make the sewer run.
Maggie and Ginny had their moment,
had their little moment.
Like, trust me.
Okay, we're going to go down.
Fine.
And we have Negan and Marshall on the run.
And, you know,
that's Marshall thing.
It's getting an actor.
I love the actor.
The actor's a great actor for the Marshall.
I know, but it's getting...
I know.
And I guess we have to...
World build, but...
Yeah.
I guess he has to pretend that he's still a law man.
And I just feel like he would have been better served saying,
if we get out of this, you know, I'm still going to arrest you.
Instead of pulling a gun and saying, you know,
you're under arrest.
When he just got done saving his life.
I do agree with that one.
Yeah.
It would have been like, if we get out of this alive, you know, I'm going to arrest you.
But right now, you know, we're going to continue to try to stay alive and get out of this.
It just didn't feel, it felt really forced to have him say, okay, you're under arrest now.
For summary execution.
Well, shut up.
This guy just saved your life.
What are we doing?
This agonizing.
So that was episode.
four, which is amazing because
we only have six episodes.
Six episodes.
I know.
I don't think that we've heard
that this show is re-uped yet, right?
I think it is.
I believe it is.
The last thing I saw
was that Dead City
had not been canceled, but it was
not renewed, officially renewed.
Now, I know
you've been saying, well, all these
actors are saying that it's
going to be renewed.
Well, you're not.
Yeah, they want to have the gig.
Hello?
You're darn right.
It's going to be renewed.
I still want to work.
But I don't think officially it's been renewed, which is a little surprising.
I guess, but also they probably will just, they'll probably officially announce it once the season's over.
Like, okay, season two is happening.
I hope so, because we have two more episodes left.
We have stories we tell ourselves, and Domesmo is the final episode, episode six of this season.
So we can hope with our fingers crossed that season and it's re-uped for season two.
Although it may, depending on how this ends, right?
I mean, if Negan is sitting on his throne.
Not this again.
If Negan is sitting on his throne, ruling Manhattan,
I guess season two will have to be, you know, Maggie trying to save somebody else, right?
I don't know.
Or Negan, you know, just expanding his power off the island.
He's not doing that.
It's time for him to stop thinking about, I didn't want to be this guy,
and I just did this guy.
Just be it.
All right, you're not going on.
You can't get away or just be it.
But what about his character development?
His character development is over.
Okay, he's naked.
Move the hell on.
That's my script.
That would be character regression, though.
Jason as a writer would know this.
Well, that's okay.
I'm okay with the character regression.
Okay.
So overall, though, it was a good episode.
It wasn't, I don't know that,
I think this is the least enjoyed episode that I've had.
Same, but it wasn't bad.
So at least that's good.
Okay.
So there you go.
It's the least enjoyed of all four episodes,
but it wasn't that bad.
That's the review of talking.
