Season one, episode six, titled Domusmo.
Talking Walking Dead, Dead City Edition.
Welcome to it, myself Jeff Fisher, Jason Butrell, and Maximus Fisher.
Episode description on IMDB, tensions between Maggie and Negan come to a head.
Ginny's search continues.
Questions arise around Armstrong's path forward.
This is Talking.
Walking Dead.
Season finale of Dead City, Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher.
You know what?
Domas Schmo to you.
Okay.
Domishmo to you.
I see where it's a Croatian for We Are Home.
So, you know, all right, fine.
All right, fine.
I enjoyed the episode very much.
I was really bummed that this was the final episode of this series.
Really bummed.
But I believe I was proven correct.
And my theory.
Not really.
We're wrapped up.
We're done.
Have a nice day.
Thank you for that.
Not really, but okay.
Wait, what was the theory?
Negan sits on the throne.
Thank you very much.
There may have been a couple other things I threw in there that didn't happen, but I was close.
It could still happen.
I mean, he's on the path to that theory.
There's no doubt about that.
You aren't wrong on that.
He's on the throne, and he's on the path to having Herschel come back to him without mom.
and the battle will between them and mom.
So, I mean, that's what season two will be.
I mean, he has a little piece of Hershey with him anyway.
Yeah, I mean, that's what, you know, that's what's her face did, right, gave him the,
I know we're jumping way ahead in the episode.
But, I mean, in the end, when she was giving him the keys to the kingdom,
we see where she took just a little piece of Herschel as a little reminder to everybody who's in charge.
You know, I didn't think, I got to give it to Maggie.
I didn't think she was in a deal.
it. I really didn't. I thought that she was, there was one point where they were both looking
out the window. And I was like, this is what's going to happen. This is where it's going to happen.
And it didn't happen. So I'm surprised.
Yeah, absolutely. I like, we can just go back to the beginning a little bit. So we found, you know,
he finds Jenny and, you know, with the, the Jenny whistle in the parking lot after the flare.
And now all of a sudden, you know, well, he's got to, you know, obviously run her off. And he
does that by, you know, copping to killing her dad and robbing her and kept her around because
it was a debt he had to pay, which I thought was awesome.
But then all of a sudden, now the law man's a nice guy? Okay.
Yeah.
What are we doing?
I know.
You want to be part of the group now?
Okay.
We actually got some new Babylon stuff.
I just have to say that.
Yeah, we did.
Yeah, we did get some new, new Babylon stuff, which was interesting.
You know what I mean?
They want to come.
They want the methane.
Yeah, they want to take the power.
which makes a lot of sense.
I mean, that's what her deal is.
She's got to protect that.
I'm so torn on where I think this is going.
Like on one side, you have like,
they're clearly trying to show that Negan is a change man.
You know,
he saved the Marshall,
which was uncharacteristic.
He,
the cry scene,
on this episode where,
you know,
after he was mean to the girl,
so she would go away,
but then he broke down and started crying.
Like,
he's clearly changed.
But I don't know like imagine that like the actual good that he can do and he should be seeing this if he can proceed along the path you have laid for him on your theory if he does take control and everyone's pointing out all of these characteristics that make him such a unique leader you know the acting right yeah persona his willingness to go to
levels of you know disemboweling someone laughing at it you know like things like that like I don't know
what they're setting him up to be, whether they're just setting him up to be like an infiltrator
and he'll undermine them from the inside or if he's going to take over.
I don't know.
I'm not sure because they want him to lead Manhattan.
Well, because on like under the under the under the head girl apparently because she's the,
she's the one really in charge.
But right.
Why?
I still understand why.
Yeah, we don't know how she holds that power.
like what's stopping him from just killing her right now
I thought the same thing
and be like all right guys not just killing her right now
I'm the king
all her thugs are passed out on the stage
as they walk in they just walk in
which we talked about last week
everybody just walks in hey
they had no guard on him
they didn't you know like no one was standing
behind him as he was talking to their
important leader like
why
really weird. It is odd, but
I mean, it could take just,
it could just kill her right then and be done with it.
Yeah, I don't know. I don't, yeah.
I wish they would explain that.
Where she holds the power, how she holds the power.
That's probably a season two thing.
Well, I would hope so. I mean, I would hope that
we got, we had some idea of how she
held that power now.
I mean, Neeg could have taken
that ring of keys and just stabbed
her right in a face, been done with it.
She clearly knows how to wield leverage,
you know?
Right.
That's evidence with Herschel's toe.
I mean.
Right.
Right.
And she's holding, you know, she's holding the kingdom in front of Negan.
But, eh, not so fast.
I need you to do a little work for me first.
Yeah.
But we still don't know, again, why and how she holds the power, right?
Because even Croat bends the knee to her.
And we find out that he isn't as he knows his talk with Negan in the
ambulance was awesome. I thought it was really good. Yeah. You know, how he realized why and how he, you know, how he still, Negan was the guy. Oh, yeah. He told the story of the widow. I mean, that was great.
And then, like, him telling the story of how, like, one of the, after the, after they had met, like, recently, they go over to, they do go over to a city and, like, a town. And it's like, and Negan does the show. And he, and he's like, well, what's a rock star without his, without his, without his, without his microphone?
comes out we seal.
Like, it was great.
The duality of this is so crazy to me.
Because, like, it's like it's Negan porn for those of us that love Negan.
Like, you're explaining everything that we love about the character.
Yes.
But on the other side of the coin is, we want him back.
Like, we don't want this guy that cries and saves people from falling that are trying to kill him.
Like, we don't want that, Negan.
We want the Negan porn that you're feeding us.
No, we do not.
I'm okay with him.
Are you struggling with it?
Oh, well.
Get over it.
Okay.
Yeah.
We're paying you to sing the song we like.
All right.
Get up there and do it.
It's so confusing because, yeah, they, they, the, what was it?
Last week's episode where they were all kind of like just force feeding this, you know, that some people are gray.
They're neither evil or bad.
Some people, you know, even bad people have good characteristics, you know?
So like, yeah.
There's a whole lot of gray.
So I'm like, okay, well, maybe they're like setting Negan to, you know, to be the guy that he used to be.
and he's going to have to be right he's going to have to be and he's going to have to try to
and maybe he maybe they end up you know as him as he sits on the throne or the you know the side
throne of of new york and takes over the entire city and then he can make deals with the outside
world for the power and create a bigger kingdom you know i mean i don't know i don't know
I don't know.
But season two got renewed.
We actually have a season two.
So we'll figure out.
If he could get rid of that chick and become the Negan that we love.
Yes.
And all of Manhattan, where he slowly starts rebuilding this, you know.
All of New York.
Based on like this power source that everyone just doesn't understand yet.
You know, like weaponizing this methane.
Ooh.
I mean, look out commonwealth.
You know what I mean?
Right.
That's what I mean.
I mean, they have to come and bend the need of him.
for that power. They have to
and that knowledge of how to
do it. They have to.
I wish we were sitting at the writer's table
to push this. And who learns, okay, so
Croat is
the scientist's genius,
but he has to have
his underling, right?
Is that Herschel? Does he teach Herschel
the science for methane
so that Hersch has that
knowledge?
I don't know. Someone has to
have the knowledge to carry it on.
Right?
I mean, not just crow.
I mean, when they finally saved Herschel,
Herschel didn't seem too receptive
to Maggie once they got back home.
Well, he wasn't receptive to her anyway.
He's approaching brat status, man.
Yeah.
I mean, it's like, dude, shut up.
She doesn't risk her life.
We've been saving your life for all these years.
Shut up.
Yeah.
I know.
Go draw your pictures.
Okay.
I felt safer over there.
Well, then go the hell back over there then.
Forget it.
Maggie, just say that.
At the end, he's like just playing his sad tunes and his guitar.
Okay.
All right.
I know.
I felt safer over there.
She only took my toe.
Yeah.
Felt safer over there.
She was sawing off my little toe.
Okay.
She's been taking appendages, but I loved her.
She was right.
Don't worry about it.
fantastic. The fight, when you talk about
Negan and Maggie looking out the window,
and then the fight between them.
The fight was great. It was interesting. It was
interesting. I know that. Not realistic, but
sure. I know.
I mean, it was cute as we're
walking across the beams and we're
falling down on the
tarped low down the docks.
We're not really
going to kill each other even though we want
to. Actually,
one thing I noticed, I noticed, which is
actually really cool. And I
I watched that fight and a lot of people like a lot of YouTube comments on it too.
A lot of people noticed if you watch the fight, the whole thing is basically
Maggie is trying to get killing blows, but Nigen keeps overpowering her,
but he doesn't do any killing blows because he doesn't want to kill her.
And you actually watch the fight, there is a lot of chances where Negan could easily have killed her
after he overpowered her multiple times, but he didn't.
Right. Yeah.
Okay.
I didn't think that the lawman and Jenny were going to leave.
When they first got to the coast there to get the boat, I thought they had decided to turn around.
I was really surprised that they ended up leaving.
And I mean, they obviously gave us a look into...
New Babylon.
Yeah, the New Babylon group, which is why they did it.
And it gave us a quick look into Maggie's people where he dropped Ginny off at.
But it was just a...
So it was, you know, it was a double-headed sword why they had to leave.
But I really didn't think they would.
You know, I felt like they wouldn't do that.
They would come back.
And at least the lawman should have, right, to try to help them.
But nope, sorry.
It's an interesting setup for the next season.
It is an interesting setup for next season.
And we do have a season two of it, although, you know, with, you know, with your people striking.
And the actor striking.
Yeah.
We'll have season two in 2030.
I see how it goes.
I'm all for that like that's another
that's another conversation
but it's also like relevant because
I'm all for them getting screwed for a little bit
because their content over the past few years has just been ass.
So you know.
But you can make the case that the writers don't make the decisions
on what shows they're writing on.
So I mean they're doing what the studios ask.
I think it's all of them collectively.
I think the people,
asking them to do these things need to get a big reality check and then the writers making the
content also need a reality check but I think they all like typically like their their mode has
been to like write content or produce content that tears down characters that we used to love
or just completely change them to fit some kind of social you know thing and they need to feel
some pain stop doing that great content that we want that we're asking for and if that means that
this season has to be delayed, I'm all for it, because I don't want them to screw me getting up.
I don't. So take all the time. Yeah, that's kind of a good point because they have, you know, they get their marching orders from the studios, but then the studio accepts what they're given them.
And the marching orders, along with what they're, you know, the content they're providing is content that, you know, is driving a narrative that much of America doesn't even want.
Right. They all need to, they all need to lose money for a while until they,
recalibrate and figure out what people want.
Let's see what's all coming up next.
We got Daryl Dixon, the next half of fear, then the final half of fear, then...
Thank God.
I know you're going to be happy when Madison rules the world at the end of...
That comes in October.
Daryl starts in September.
And then the Rick and Moshone show, the...
ones who live starts in
2024 because those have all been
those are all done and
season yeah this next phase
of AMC universe is really
just blowing away
the crap that they did in the past
it sure is
fear looks just more awful
awfuler than the awful
that it used to be I mean
Morgan's gone now Morgan's not
part of fear anymore so Madison's the main
character again that's so that that's just
not watchable
The last six episodes are going to be
We'll watch it for you
We'll watch it for you
But remember man
It is going to be a long and slow death
It's going to be the fear
The Walking Dead Hospice half season
I don't know
You know, I don't know
Maybe it'll be okay
It'll be fine
It'll be fine
Everything is fine
It'll be fine
It'll be fine
Now I watched the Daryl show
looked really good.
Oh, man.
There was the promo that you guys watched with,
what is that, the 30 second or 60 second?
No, it's like a two minutes.
Okay.
It's like a two minute trailer.
Okay.
And then we saw, we watched the 10 minute release of the,
the AMC Plus released the first 10 minutes of the first episode.
And wow.
Look, you're right.
They really are, you know, if Walking Dead would have had the budget.
that they're giving to these shows
would have been a hell of a lot better.
Oh, just the CGI alone, like in
Dead City, you know, like there was full on full
CGI shots, you know, of crumbling New York.
That can't be cheap. And then the stuff that they're showing in
the Daryl Dixon, just the sets that they've done on that thing?
I mean, it's next level.
They're filming, they were filming in France,
so a lot of that architecture
is still there.
Well, yeah, yeah, of course.
I see where in that,
and the first 10 minutes, though,
he, you know,
floats ashore in France.
And then he,
he finds his little,
uh,
hole up point.
He goes,
then walks around,
finds a little boat to hole up in for a little bit,
find some goods and get himself situated,
find out where he is.
And he pulls out a map.
And it looks like he landed on,
in France,
on the other side of France,
not on the,
Atlantic side of France.
Because the map makes it look like he's got to walk back across France to the Atlantic side.
And I thought, okay, well, if he floated across the Atlantic,
that means he had to go through a part of Africa and up back around.
Jeffey, he didn't float across the Atlantic.
He was obviously placed there by someone.
I don't know.
It shows him coming ashore on the boat.
It does.
he's tied to a boat upside down coming on shore.
That's the opening shot of the show.
But it's clear he didn't survive.
What is it, like three plus weeks a month going across on a little dingy?
Someone took him and placed him in that boat and then let him go right off the coast.
You're pissing me off right.
Actually, he would say simply.
Of course, he floated across the ocean.
That's the deal.
So he got on to the Pacific was there.
They got swept down into the Atlantic,
around the Indian Ocean, back into the Atlantic,
and then through the upper coast.
He's your dad.
He's your dad.
Atlantic side of the United States.
That's the East Coast.
And then he just floated across.
That heck, that could happen.
That could happen.
The Vikings got here.
You need to stop this crap right now.
Just so the audience knows, too, me and Jason have seen the two-minute trailer.
Me and Dad have seen the 10 minutes, but Jason hasn't seen the 10 minutes,
and Dad hasn't seen the 2-minute trailer.
I haven't.
I haven't.
And we learned in the 10-minute trailer we saw he fights this building with Walkers, which was a great scene.
I mean, really, really good Daryl Dixon for Walker fight scene.
and we didn't see any of the Kenyan running walkers like we expected to see or that we hope to see,
but we did see where a one walker reaches out and grabs his arm and like burns him.
I'm like, hey, okay, what's happening with that?
So we got a little taste of, because he walks into a room where they're all just docile because it's quiet and there hasn't been any humans.
but then the walkers are like hey
there's new blood
he's right
what's happening
we need to
wake up a little bit
we got another body again
a little while
this was awesome yeah it was a really good
fight scene really the elephant in the room
is you know what you're hinting at is
who the hell dropped him off there and why
like what's the entire point of this
and I hope they don't I don't know
I don't know how long it's going to take them to reveal that
but in the two minute, I guess, promo last night.
It looked insane, man.
He goes to like a, what's that call?
What's a nunnery called?
Whatever the heck.
What's the monastery?
Monastery.
Where the nuns and the priests live.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then it's kind of hinting that it might be like the Last of Us type plot.
So it kind of seems like, like he has to escort some kid.
That's what it seems like for some, you know,
maybe that's one of your kids that was just born that's now immune.
I don't know.
I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
Another Jeffie theory.
Yes.
You were proven wrong.
We haven't been proven wrong.
It just hasn't happened yet.
That theory still holds.
Even though we've seen kid walkers.
They weren't fear of bloods.
What does that even mean?
I really bummed that this Dead City is over, though.
Yeah.
These six episodes were really, went by really fast, and I'm really bummed that they're gone.
Can I say something that was kind of, that is kind of shocking, genuinely?
Do you wait for me to say?
They don't say it?
These six episodes of Dead City were far better than the full two seasons we had of World Beyond.
Well, first of all, that's not saying much.
No, true.
Yeah.
Think of that.
We had two seasons of World Beyond and six episodes of a one-season show.
I would say that Dead City was infinitely better.
I would say Dead City is better than at least half of Fear the Walking Dead seasons, maybe more.
Man, I would probably say all of them.
I can't think of one fear season that I enjoyed over these six episodes.
I mean, there was a few.
There were some really decent episodes.
And fear.
Yeah.
There were throughout the, what is it, eight years or whatever it's been.
The thing with fear is, and I said this during the mid-season finale where Morgan left,
fear has some great episodes where if you watch that episode by itself,
it's some of the best content Walking Dead is given you.
Yeah.
But then the rest of the season just kind of goes down, down, down, down, down.
Oh my God, that was amazing.
Down, down, down, down, down.
Yeah, really bad.
Really bad.
So, anyway, this, we know we've got Dead City season two coming sometime in, you know, the next 20 years.
And Darrell starts in September right close to the end of fear, right?
Because fear starts in October, six episodes, I think, right?
Six episodes left of fear.
Yeah, six or not.
And then sometime before the end of fear, Darryl starts.
I think that's the way that's the timeline that they, that they, that they,
they're running on that.
So I'm looking forward to that.
It would be awesome.
It's going to be so painful having to endure fear while they're slowly,
slow drip, teasing you on Daryl.
And that's the only reason I'm going to be watching fears.
Daryl comes out first.
The dumb-ass podcast.
And teases for Daryl.
That's it.
Oh, yeah.
Daryl comes out first.
Daryl comes out in September.
Oh, right.
Okay.
Before?
I was thinking November.
So, right.
So Daryl comes out in September.
That fear.
Okay.
I'm sorry.
that yeah you're right that's so much better that is really so much better so they're going to set you up with great darrell and and and walk you into the holidays with fear and you'll be praying for the ones that live with rick and michaud and season two of dead city and season two of darrell by the time fear is done and maybe that's their plan that's a strong lineup bearing fear and then have those new shows yeah yeah i like that a lot you're right
right, Max. I flip those dates around. So that is kind of good. That is. We can have
Daryl and then we can slowly burn ourselves or cut ourselves with fear. Maybe these final six
episodes of fear will fall in love with Madison and she'll be the great character that
everybody says she is or not. But we can only hope. We can only hope. Does
that what everyone wants.
You will cheer if she dies again.
I know that.
That's all they do is tease me of her.
That's all they do.
Tees you of her dad.
They did that.
What?
How many times they did that?
Like seven times.
So is there anything else,
Jason,
in this episode of Dead City
that you really enjoyed?
I mean,
for me,
this episode was mostly,
like I said,
Negan porn.
It was great to hear
like what made him so
lovable and so like
you know making people want to
follow him. Yes. I just hope they
deliver on that in the next
season. Me too. Me too.
And he obviously in the previous
interviews wants them to.
So I mean let's hope
that he has sway on that.
No question. Max.
I have genuinely enjoyed this
episode. You know,
the fight scenes were really good.
A couple of not the best but pretty
okay Walker kills
but
can't wait to see what they do
we actually got some information on New Babylon
between while we've wanted since episode one
I'm excited to see what work goes on
when Negan him trying to lead Manhattan
see what's going on with Herschel and Maggie
so what the heck they're going to do with them
I just hope
I just hope they pull it off man
no kidding all right so that's
that's a wrap if you want to find out when we will be back
just continue to listen to chewing the fact
the mothership show of this show Talking Walking Dead.
Jason Butchral, Max, Mr. Oh, I've got to talk about, keep an eye out to form on my YouTube
channel chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher.
I've got some new Talking Walking Dead stickers that are really cool.
I'm going to be showing you those on my YouTube channel.
There's one for Jason to see today.
And I've got a new, my wife made a really new cool drinking jug for Talking Walking Dead
that has blood in it.
So when you turn it upside down, the blood flows down the outside of the drinking jug.
Really cool.
I'll show you that on my YouTube channel, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher.
In the coming, you know what?
In the coming hours.
Don't just back off me.
All right.
I'll get it as soon as I can.
All right.
So thank you, Jason.
Thank you, Max.
And we'll see all of you the next round of Talking, Walking Dead.
