Starting point is 00:00:00 Season 10, episode 16, the Walking Dead, titled A Certain Doom. And that makes this finally, talking walking dead. All right, all right, all right, all right. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. Welcome to it. Talking Walking Dead with myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchrill, and Maximus Fisher. Episode description from IMDB, beta engages the final battle of the Whisperer War.
Starting point is 00:00:50 So we finally got to it. Jason, Maximus, good to see you. Welcome to the broadcast. Yeah. It's been a while. It's only been, I don't know, six, seven months. They could put this show together. I mean, you can well imagine how it takes that long to put a show together.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Man, this one had, like, crazy expectations. Did you see some of the reviews that were coming in saying it was like the most amazing episode they've ever seen? I was like, dude, it's going to happen here. Crazy. Did you see those? Yeah, I did. I did. I can tell you I didn't write them. Because, you know, I mean, I enjoyed the episode.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Yeah. I did. There were some things that happened that I thought, wow, okay, I get it. But there were also some things, I don't know that it was the greatest. No, it looked to me like, again, it actually kind of looked like it was rushed. It really did. I know. Like you missed the mark in so many different areas.
Starting point is 00:01:52 You know, like, oh, that was kind of cool, but oh, it could have been so much better type stuff. I think that's why they decided to extend season 10, and then they're going to have season 11 air in October because they're extending season 10 for a few more episodes. Right. So this is confusing. So how many more episodes of season 10 will it be? Have they released that? Six. Six.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Okay. We had the finale, which was last night, or if you're, you know, October. October 4th, if you're not listening to the broadcast live on the 5th of October 2020. So then they said that they're going to have, they're going to extend season 10 by six episodes. Then they've got season 11, which is the final season, which is going to be 24 episodes. So we have 30 episodes left, but we're still crying that it's going to end. It's not going to end until 2022, maybe. maybe 23.
Starting point is 00:02:52 So when do we get the extended episodes? Have they given any? They said on the show that comes on after that they're in Georgia about to film the new episodes. So we should get those maybe spring. Because now we have the World Beyond, which started last night. And then next week, Fear kicks in. And it's going to be Fear and World Beyond on Sundays now. Are you hearing a little oversaw?
Starting point is 00:03:21 saturation a little bit. Well, I was really surprised that it's going to be on the same night. I thought for sure they were going to say that the World Beyond was now going to air on Wednesdays or something like that, you know? Yeah. And then fear would be Sundays. But, I mean, it's just going to be, you know, Sunday nights is Walking Dead, and that's what you get.
Starting point is 00:03:41 So this. We'll get to this later. So World Beyond is pretty much just setting up the movies, right? That's my guess because, of course, World Beyond has the CRM group and the big communities and stuff like that, and that's where probably the movie that are going to take place because, you know, they took Rick. So that's my guess. And remember, the World Beyond is only two seasons. And we've heard nothing about the movies, I don't think either, right?
Starting point is 00:04:09 Well, Rick was interviewed not long ago and said, hey, we're working on it. I mean, thanks, Andrew. Appreciate it. That's really helpful. Yeah, that's all Andrew Lincoln has said. I mean, okay. To the determint. But other than that, we really haven't heard anything about the movies.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I guess they're still happening, but when they started talking about extending season 10 and what episodes were left in season 11 and what show may come after season 11 with the Carol and Darrell show, then that's the, That's what they said. Don't look at me like that. That's what they said. And so then you have the world beyond and you still have fear. And now fear, I mean, if we want to, we can, you know, we need to recap this
Starting point is 00:04:59 atlas final episode, I know. But I will say that I loved during the off season or during the, you know, the pandemic, we can't produce anything season. they said they talked about how it would be the shows would be separate contained among themselves oh my gosh where did we hear that before oh i don't know this show yeah i mean come on guys at least a little bit of credit at least a little bit of credit right right it's all we're asking for and by the way the carol and darrell show doesn't that sound like a 70s sitcom it sure does Apparently, they've announced it's going to be like a road trip show where it's Carol and Daryl on the road, like trying to find new people.
Starting point is 00:05:47 And apparently it's going to be like a monster of the week type of thing where they're with different people every episode. It's like Easy Rider, only with Carol and Daryl. Oh, Carol and Daryl visit diners across America. Whatever, it'll be fine. You kill a few walkers during the show. So you have a Salisbury steak and you move on. Diner Rescue with Carol and Daryl. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:19 It'll be great. It'll be great. And then, of course, they talked about, you know, with all these shows, with fear and World Beyond and Walking Dead, that that was all going to wrap into the universe, right? The Walking Dead universe, which gets you to the movies. But none of those stories said anything about the movies, except for that one interview with Rick where he said, we're working on it.
Starting point is 00:06:43 And one thing with Kirkman. So Kirkman is a very big producer on it, obviously. Yeah. So he said the pandemic kind of actually helped them in like finishing up the, giving them more time to finish up the big details of the movie. So that's also one other piece of news that we've gotten. Okay, well. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I hope they do a better job with all that time. did with this finale, or I guess it's not a finale anymore, but last night's episode. Now, you know, if you go back, apparently, you know, this show was already in the can, right? This show was already in the can. They just didn't have time to produce it. That's according to them now. I'm not saying what actually happened. I'm just saying, according to them, the reason we didn't get it way back in March or April was because they didn't have time.
Starting point is 00:07:32 They didn't see the pandemic coming like the rest of the world. and the rest of every network in America, they didn't see it coming and couldn't, you know, produced finally the final production of the show. So we had to wait, right? That's what they said. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And they also, you know, was in the, in the, and I'll say the name, and what's the name of the stupid show that comes on after? Talking, yeah, whatever. And he, oh, yeah, Hardwick. He actually had lighting and a microphone and a decent camera last night.
Starting point is 00:08:05 saying that they finally got it and everything came together so fast last time they couldn't do it. Shut up. Shut up. Come on. I am so disappointed. If that's true. If that's true, Jason, AMC is not as well as we think. Yeah, come on.
Starting point is 00:08:21 You can't be mad at Hardwick for that. You have to blame it on the network. That's what I'm doing. That's what I mean. It's like every time Glenn, our boss, gets sick or something like that or has to broadcast from home, it's like an overnight thing literally within a couple of. couple hours, a full studio is set up to broadcast nationally with video, no matter where in the world he is.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Correct. Even when he's like in the mountains, they get it done. That's correct. And so I'll give you, I'll give you maybe the first week, maybe the first week, maybe, that you don't have it set up right. But after that, no, I won't know. That's not true. That's just like they didn't care.
Starting point is 00:09:01 And it's crap. It's agonizing. So stupid. Anyway, so episode 60, it started out with, you know, I must say, it was nice to have the show back on. Yeah. It really felt good to hear the open. I mean, it felt good to hear the open on this show. It felt, it was like, it was like, okay, I can breathe a little easier tonight.
Starting point is 00:09:26 We're back. Like when that open played, I was like, we're back, baby. Right. Yeah, and I had a lot of high hopes for this episode because the pacing is how I like it. You know what this show? It was very old school. Remember because they was jumping around to all the different stories and it all flowed. And you didn't think that somebody was being left out.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Like this last season, you get an entire episode on some B character. I'm like, who cares? I don't care. Like, well, I know we'll probably hit this later in this podcast. But like, Connie, sorry, I don't give a crap where you're at. Really don't. I don't care about the dude that came to see you. You are in the minority.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Don't care about him. I can be okay with Connie. It was the, we were supposed to be upset. said about the death of Beatrice last night. Who? Cares. Right? Nobody cares.
Starting point is 00:10:10 She did have an awesome death, though. Yeah, but nobody cares. But, but, like, did anyone of consequence die last night? No. No. Beta. Yeah, well, beta. That's it, but we expected that, right?
Starting point is 00:10:21 That was part of the deal. Yeah. I'm disappointed in you, by the way, on that. Because I thought I thought I enjoyed that. Okay, we're skipping ahead. We are skipping ahead, but we'll skip ahead to the death of beta, which happened in this episode. If you haven't seen it yet, duh, you already know.
Starting point is 00:10:38 It was coming. You knew it was going to come. We know that Alpha already died, so Beta was coming next. It was the end of the whisperers. And so it did happen. And the first thing I get from Jason is the text. Hold on a second. I want to make sure I have the correct wording.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Talk about a weak-ass end to beta, weak in all caps. Wait, you don't agree with that? We over here at the Fisher household completely disagree with this. Oh, my gosh. There was no fight. There was no fight. It's better than his comic death. What was the comic death?
Starting point is 00:11:17 Okay. His comic death was after the war with the whispers. The herd was already gone. And what happened was it was already a little, like, we were near the Commonwealth this point. And then Aaron and Jesus, because they're still together and alive in the comic, and Beta just shows up to attack them, and then they shoot, then Aaron, no, Jesus shoots him, and then they remove his mask, realize who he is, and then Beta goes, no, don't take off my mask, and then they shoot him, and he's dead.
Starting point is 00:11:50 But that's post-Negan Beta showdown, right, where they have this epic brawl. That's what I wanted. I wanted that brawl. I did want that, but. And they didn't deliver. That sucked ass. There's no other way to say it. Knives to the eyes is cool and all, but I want that 10 minutes later.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I wanted a 10-minute-long fight. It would have been a nice. It would have been, I do, I'll give you that, a larger fight was expected. However, I did enjoy the knives to the eyes, the pulling out the knives, and the sinking into the herd, him finally being happy, his people are eating him. It's all good. And you can recognizing him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Agreed and disagree, I guess. But I'm okay, but Well, here's the thing about the comic fight, too. Negan was losing, like, half of that fight until he got Lucille back, and then he started winning, and then Lucille broke, and then they pretty much just retreated. So, and he doesn't have Lucille in this show at all. That bad is gone. That's true. But he does have, I guess, a, what, you know, a copy of it.
Starting point is 00:13:03 They could have used that, this epic brawl, the bat breaks, and then Daryl kills him through the eyes. You know, something like that. Not Negan gets his ass kicked, and then, you know, Daryl runs in and saves the day. I just thought that. And then, if the bat breaks, then Negan says, well, it's not Lucille anyway. I don't care. Yeah, it wouldn't be the same emotional weight as if it was actually the bat. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:27 But, you know, I felt the final part of the death. Now, see, now you're leaning me toward being made. mad at the fight now. The final death of Beda was great. I thought it was great. I was sinking into the herd and being happy and you know, it was the end and
Starting point is 00:13:44 he was finally done with it. But now I'm convinced. Now you convinced me, damn it I wanted to fight. What the heck? Because they talked about because it was more Daryl as Negan. Yeah. And Daryl and him already had the big fight. Yep. So we needed
Starting point is 00:14:01 the Negan fight. All right, now I'm pissed. Absolutely needed, yeah. I'll agree about the Negan fight part. I did want that, but I'll disagree with his death. I did like his death. You, Max, were hyping up this fight between Negan and Beta for months. I know. This is your fault. I was disappointed.
Starting point is 00:14:21 You got me hype. I was disappointed in the fight part of it. I was not disappointed in the death. Now it comes out. I was like, I had my phone out to say, Max, you call. it, this was a bad A fight, and then that happened. And I was like, what? Subverting expectations, that means it's good, right?
Starting point is 00:14:44 Yeah, that means it's good, all right. So I did enjoy seeing the wide shots of the herd. Yeah, I mean, that was a monster herd, right? And we finally got, we did think of you last night in the Fisher household with the King's speech to Eugene. As they were off, that was awesome. The king was back. It was tempered, though. It was a tempered one, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:09 But it was still the king. Well, he's feeling himself out. He's getting back in the king mode. I expected a once more into the breach, dear brothers or something, you know. And he was like, eh. But, yeah, the king, kind of interesting, because they haven't talked about his cancer in a while. That hasn't come up. But anyway.
Starting point is 00:15:30 My guess, actually, is since they're going to the common one, they might actually be able to help him with that. Oh, yeah. Yeah, very possible. At the end, they were surrounded by stormtroopers. I mean, Commonwealth. Commonwealth. Note those outfits were comic accurate to the T.
Starting point is 00:15:49 It was awesome. Pretty cool. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I don't, I just, at this point, I don't think they're going to kill anybody off, and everyone's a cartoon character, and they're all going to live, which is the exact opposite reason from why I, like,
Starting point is 00:16:02 fell in love with this show. You know, you literally thought anyone could die at any moment. I know. Once they flew Rick off with the possibility of him still being alive, then they all became nobody dying characters. Yeah. Nobody dies. Well, they had the pike scene, so that was something.
Starting point is 00:16:23 But that was last season. Yeah, but okay, so they had the pike scene. No. But who died on that? Who died of any real significance on it? Tara, Enid. Eh, eh. A traitor.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Henry? And who died in the comic? What main characters had the comic on that? It was Rosita and Ezekiel. Those two were the two big ones. The king. He freaking dies. Okay, right.
Starting point is 00:16:49 There's a clear turn. Right. Clear turn. Right. I mean, we knocked off the king. And they obviously didn't kill Rosita because of me. So I'll think of him. Yeah, I mean, you can't kill Rosita.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Hotness. Hotness overrides everything. Oh, good news. Dog didn't die this episode. He's still alive. Not even the freaking dog will die. Right. Can't even kill a dog.
Starting point is 00:17:12 You never get to hurt eating a dog. Right now I'm pissed. Now I'm pissed. Somebody has to die. Something. Maybe these extended six episodes. We'll get at least a damn dog dying. Oh, and then actually in the beginning of the episode,
Starting point is 00:17:29 we actually had a few of the, the group kind of being mad at Carol going, why the hell did you let him out? Yeah, that was, you know, look, we had seen a lot of that where, you know, Negan and, you know, Negan's part of the, you know, he's on the outside of the inside, right? And so in the comic where he just goes away, though, right? He goes off and lives in the woods.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Mm-hmm. That might still happen, but yes. So, yeah, about that. So Maggie's back. were they in a different at the end when Rick and Negan I mean Negan and Darrell and all them are there
Starting point is 00:18:08 Was it a different part of the forest? Well I guess they were, I guess I mean they were in their one of the secret layers on the other side of the forest, right? I don't know because I thought that they were trying to say that everyone was kind of all gathered together
Starting point is 00:18:23 they were supposed to gather outside of the main ring My guess is because, you know, it's Neegan he was just staying far off, especially with Maggie back. And they, at the end of the show that comes on after, they actually said there will be a meeting between those two in the next few episodes. That's what I wanted to see last night. I was like, ooh, this is going to be crazy. It would have been good at the ending had they seen each other, right? So Maggie would have seen him out and alive.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Right. Even if they didn't say anything, just at the end. Instead of the love fest of great to have you back. And she is traveling with Ninja man with the mask, who we don't know who that is. We don't know who that is, but she's traveling with her protector.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Ninjas just kind of fall out of the sky when you're wandering the, you know, the forest. Right. Pretty common. All right. She looks like she did okay. She found some mud to help with the facials and the tooth face and everything.
Starting point is 00:19:21 She looks great. It doesn't look like the pandemic or the world-renowned Walking Dead disease has affected her at all. I know, right? She's been hitting soul cycle, you know what I mean? She's been down at the spas in Georgia, just hanging out, you know. Maggie's like, should I got a soul cycle today or jazzercise? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:44 What do you think, Jeff? What do you think we should do? I mean, I guess it's good to have her back, but it would have been, I do agree that they should have at least seen each other. It was the expectations of things like that that just kept compounding last night. And I was like, I like the flow, I like how everything looks, everything I felt like Walking Dead, I was enjoying it, but then it just kept coming short on those things. I think that's why they decided to extend the season.
Starting point is 00:20:09 I think they felt, okay, this isn't good enough for a finale, and we have more story to tell before the end of next season, which was already extended at that point. So they decided, okay, we're going to extend season 10 because we need more development. What's weird is, you know, you didn't, when you story, You're reboarded all this out at the beginning of the season. You didn't realize that talking to AMC here? I mean, like, what? Like, I just didn't, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:33 I don't really buy that. I thought they, like, delayed this last episode because of, you know, post-production effects. All that can be done. That's what they said. That can be done at home. That's what they said, yeah. So, yeah, I don't know. Or did they get bad fan fan feedback or something?
Starting point is 00:20:51 I have no idea. I don't know. Yeah, I think. It's possible, right? I mean, they put it together and watched it and said, ooh. Speaking of the effects on the herd that you were talking about, that was really cool. But did you notice not one, like, group of squirrels was seen running during that entire time? Did you notice that?
Starting point is 00:21:11 I did. Any crazy squirrels running around at all? There were any animals running around. There wasn't a crazy deer leaping out of the way of the herd. Well, last episode, we did see a cat, and that's what Beta followed. Remember? Remember? Yeah. Well, right. We got some animals, and that's the whole thing, right? And then when they were leading the herd away from the hospital or, you know, whatever complex they were in. That was a cool scene with the wagon and the music. Okay, right. And they're playing, they're playing. I love with talking heads burning down the house. That was awesome. But then, you know, the one whisper throws the chain across and breaks the, break.
Starting point is 00:21:54 the wagon. We didn't see the herd eat the horses. We saw them fighting up on top of the wagon. Something! I wanted some animal to die. Now I'm mad again. I want some animal to die. Peta's upset with you. Pita is now upset with you.
Starting point is 00:22:11 We're not going to kill off humans. Damn it, kill animals. Yeah. What was... That was what I thought was kind of another thing that was just kind of like, what? Like the moment that the music stopped. Instantly, the herd's like, okay. Let's go back the other direction.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Because it's the whispers. That is what they do. They could turn the herd easy. Like, that's the thing with the whispers. Well, and that's what Lydia said. Her mom taught her how to do, right? A, at one point, they tightened the herd. Tighten the herd.
Starting point is 00:22:42 And then Lydia said that she knew how to turn them. Did you notice how our group was they were acting on old Walking Dead rules, how you had to put on these, like, suits and coat your sleeves? self and all this blood. No one's all you have to do is on a mask. Oh, you did it is. I thought the same thing. I thought, why don't they just cut skin off some of these guys in the building?
Starting point is 00:23:03 Yeah. Or just go down to like Halloween City and get one of those, you know, plastic jobs and just like those masks. They thought about going to mask there. I was too late. But they were busy wiping guts and everything on them. I guess, you know, they don't have the, they don't have the expertise to create a skin mask. And they didn't have time because you got to dry it out.
Starting point is 00:23:24 And besides, that's not really a show problem. That's a comic problem. The comics have the exact same thing. It's just so weird. So, yeah, that's Kirkman. So weird. That's stupid. And then I like the, you know, of course, and again, Lydia, right?
Starting point is 00:23:41 And knows how to turn and drive the herd, which they did. And they were going to, you know, Carol and her were fighting over who was going to drive the herd off the ledge. Not to create the dead dam. The dead dam. which I don't like messing with the water supply. That one hurts me. Yeah. I actually did like that scene, though.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Yeah, was it all falling? And her throwing her mom's mask over the edge. Yeah. And, you know, she saves Carol. Again, no one dies. But we knew Carol was not going to die there. We knew it. That wasn't even in question.
Starting point is 00:24:18 It would have been good if she, to me, I would have loved to have seen Lydia pull. Carol back and then get pushed over. So Carol then, you know, is looking down at Lydia, you know, almost like the what's a stupid... Gosh darn, what's a stupid movie? 300. No, diehard.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Where he gets pushed off the building and he's looking back at Bruce Willis screaming. Yeah. That'd be great for Lydia. That's what I wanted for Lydia. I was... I'll admit, I don't... She survives to the end in the comics, too. So she might survive to the end of the show. like in the comics. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:56 All right. I feel you, though. Something like that would have been a little bit better, but that would have totally destroyed Carol. And she's already so fragile. She's already lost too many kids. She wouldn't survive it. No way.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Well, I mean, she's got to survive until Carol and Darrell do diners. Dead diners. Don't forget dead diners. Diner rescue. And then we finally got, you mentioned Connie early on. We finally, she's been knocked out for a month from the blast on the cave? Well, remember, it was Magna and Connie together. They left the cave with the herd and they got separated.
Starting point is 00:25:35 That's what Magna said happened. Okay. So, again, she's been knocked out in the dirt for a month and not a walker has stumbled on her, not a squirrel has come up to gna on her, nothing. And who has been walking and we found her passed out? Okay. And then she gets found by Homeboy. Virgil, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:56 What's his name? Virgil. Yeah, home boy. Yeah, remember from the Moshone episode? Yeah. He just is in the background now showing up wandering around. And who cares about either one of them? A lot of people care about, dude, I'm just saying this right now.
Starting point is 00:26:09 A lot of people care about Connie. You are in the big minority there. Why, though? Why? I don't know. But a lot is not interesting at all. The only plot point. she brings is maybe a relation to Daryl.
Starting point is 00:26:23 But it doesn't even always seem that strong. So I just don't see the point. And that other, what's his name, Max? Virgil, remember? He was the one who kidnapped Michone and all of the island boy. I just didn't care enough about him to remember his name. He is completely pointless and he's pathetic and sad. And why should we care?
Starting point is 00:26:43 Right. Plus, he pissed everybody off already. Now he's going to try to work his way back in. I don't get it. I really don't. I don't understand why we can. care about him at all. He might be the reason they know Rick's alive if you think about it.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Because he knew Michone was going after some guy to him, and if he's with the group and he tells them what's happening, they might connect the dots going, wait, are you talking about Rick? So he did have a conversation with Michone, right, about Rick? Did he? He was there
Starting point is 00:27:12 when it happened. He was there when she left and telling him the reason why she left. So that could be the one that I could care about him coming back. So if they do that, then that will make sense. Maybe he rides in and says, wait, I know she was after Rick, and then a stormtrooper kills him. I'm good with that.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Joey said, I'm excited for Commonwealth. I am. Oh, gosh, yes. And, of course, we had the bike ride and the walk with Eugene, King, Yumiko, and Princess. It was a good scene, Princess, again. Yeah, it was. And then they got to the Train Depot and get, you know, surrounded and we've got a, you know, Eugene with his big speech and visibilate.
Starting point is 00:27:56 I loved Princess's response to him, though. That was great. She's a good character. I don't, how do you, how do you have this, the Commonwealth and this other group coexist? I know. I don't know. Okay, so let's talk about that for a little bit. They probably don't know about each other. To World Beyond, right, which came on after the new show that started right. That started right. after the finale, which isn't the finale, of Walking Dead,
Starting point is 00:28:23 world beyond. And they are with, what's the name of those people? The, the campus colony is what they're. No, I know. The World Beyond was from the campus colony and the people that were,
Starting point is 00:28:38 that are taking over. CRM. Yes, CRM. So we have the CRM group, right? And that's, I guess, we're to believe that they don't know about the Commonwealth.
Starting point is 00:28:49 and the CRM group are busy killing off anybody that knows anything about what? They take the scientist and they're in Portland and they're in New York and we're to believe that these kids are going to walk from Nebraska to New York because New York, once you get to New York, you can find anybody. New York is only, you know, what, as big as the college campus, right? No. Every small place. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Come on. I think that's the point, though. They're like, okay, this show. it was going to be a cross-country trip and it's going to be like, okay, it's bigger than they thought. But that's what they're doing with fear. They turn fear into the cross-country trip, right? And now they're saying that fear is going to be, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:32 each episode or every two episodes are, you know, a limited... An anthology series. Okay. I actually like anthology series. I do, too, and we gave them the idea for it. I'd like to a little credit. Yep. I'd like a little credit for it because that's what they were...
Starting point is 00:29:45 I mean, we told them that's the... Anyway. All I want... a little credit, AMC. That prediction is pretty amazing, because we said that very early on. I know. And Gimple, you can take all the credit you want back there in your little office as head of the AMC dead universe, but you know where you got it from, my friend.
Starting point is 00:30:04 You know where you got it. So World Beyond, but yeah, like the campus colony, they said, has like 9,700 people. But at the end, they're all dead. Or at least a good chunk of them are dead, and the whole army's hunting them down. And the head lady was happy that they were gone because she didn't want to kill them. But she was going to do what she was told to do, right? Because that's what she said. We can't find them anywhere.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Okay, good. They're interesting to me, really. I mean, it was a walking dead episode. And remember there was like four helicopters, like three transport helicopters? There was the one helicopter, which we know, the black helicopter with the three ring logos. And then we see like these four big, like the transport helicopters carrying like crates. That was crazy cool Yeah
Starting point is 00:30:50 I don't know But that's what With that power And the power that we know Of the Commonwealth I don't know how That they don't know about each other I know
Starting point is 00:30:58 And he's the Commonwealth Do you know how many people are in the Commonwealth 18 Ha ha But Guess how many, Jason Thousands Thousands
Starting point is 00:31:09 Thousands 50 50,000 50,000 Okay Well All right So
Starting point is 00:31:15 Well you'd think that The CRIM Some people have at least that much, right? Maybe. Maybe more. We don't know. We know nothing. That's what the show is supposed to do.
Starting point is 00:31:26 I was very disappointed with World Beyond. Ah, yeah. It felt like the Walking Dead, the C.W. version. We're going to talk about teen angst while zombies are in the background and stuff. I don't know that I give it to CW. I'm thinking Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon. I'll agree that was a little
Starting point is 00:31:50 Eh Although I did like Elton Elton was cool Which one would see? Because he's the one that wears the suit The bite proof suit The Harry Potter suit They had so much like
Starting point is 00:32:02 So you know the way this works And I thought they were going to do this And I told myself before it started I was like this is my expectation If it doesn't happen I'm not going to like the show But if it centers around a group of kids There's already a model for this
Starting point is 00:32:15 All right, the Goonies Uh It You know, like those types of shows that, like, adults can watch because they put in a lot of pop culture references, and it reminds you of, like, being a kid, you know? But also kids love it too, because, you know, everyone loves it. I was like, if they do that, if they do it like it or the goonies, I'll like it.
Starting point is 00:32:37 But they didn't. We're only one episode in. You can't, we can't judge the whole season on one episode. No, I don't know. I know. It could be interesting. If, you know, the kids that are out on their own, right, they are out on their own and have no idea what they're doing or what they're up against. But they've been sheltered and they have, you know, they're thinking it's a big deal by killing one empty, as they call it, as they call the walkers.
Starting point is 00:33:10 And I know that, you know, the other guy and girl are coming up behind them right to save them and leave with them. But these four kids, I mean, they have no idea. This is nothing. This is a decade after the apocalypse started. This is 10 years. But, I mean, we're that far along and dead, aren't we? I think so. We're at least that far long.
Starting point is 00:33:32 I mean, Rick's kid is collecting Social Security. No, they did a seven-year time jump in dead. Right. So it just, I don't know. I know that I guess it could be good. It's only a two-year thing, right? And for they've already said that World Beyond is just a two-year deal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I mean, does that change if it becomes a huge hit? Of course, but... We know all they want to do is... Well, they want to do two things. They want to set up the movies, so they want to explain who this CRM group is. So the vehicle to do that is this show. Because we've had hints of it in Dead, and we had a whole episode about it with Al and the soldier in fear. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:14 but they also got a problem, I think, with a younger audience not watching Walking Dead. So they were like, well, let's just do this with a bunch of kids. They don't really want, isn't this show, they don't think they want a younger audience watching the show. Oh, I don't know. I disagree with that. They need a younger audience. They totally do. The numbers are way down.
Starting point is 00:34:34 You know, the numbers are down, you know, across the board for everyone. But they want those CW. They want that CW, like, demographic. Most definitely do. And they don't know. What's the one horse show your sister watches on Netflix? Free Rain, I think. Yeah, free reign.
Starting point is 00:34:51 If you watch Free Rain, then watch World Beyond. I don't think it's that. That is not that bad. It is not that bad. It's pretty freaking close, man. I'm kind of excited to see one. One plot point that was interesting was the sister's mom dying, like getting killed. And then we find.
Starting point is 00:35:14 out the person who killed her was Elton's mom, and then the hope was the girl's name, she kills Elton's pregnant mom. Yeah. So, I mean, they both ended up, you know, killing each other, and it'll be interesting, you know, for them to find that out. But, you know, I don't know how it works out to where I care. Right. It only works if the characters are interesting and you actually are interested, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:42 care about them. And the only one that's interesting, as Max pointed out, was that dweeb kid in the suit. It's kind of hot. Yeah, she's kind of hot, but she's not interesting. She's the rebellious one that sneaks out of the ball. Oh, okay. And don't look at me like that. She's 24.
Starting point is 00:36:01 Not that I looked. Yeah, okay. Okay. That's awesome. She's an adult. It's okay. Not the one, not Elton. Not Elton.
Starting point is 00:36:12 The actor who plays Elton. He's 17. Yeah. I mean, he's going to be around for a while. So we'll see if I, if that grows on me. Look, I wanted to get back to Talking Walking Dead and, you know, wrap up season 10, which isn't wrapped up yet because we still have six more episodes to go. Fear starts next week and, you know, they continue on with World Beyond. So the, I'm not sure if we need a Talking Walking Dead every week, although, you know, with fear coming on, it might be,
Starting point is 00:36:43 worth it. We'll see. So it's kind of a hit or miss, which is why you need to subscribe to chewing the fat on whatever platform you choose. Whatever platform warms the little innards of your cockles. You got iTunes, I heart, Spotify, Stitcher,
Starting point is 00:36:59 whatever one. There's plenty of more. There's a plethora of platforms you choose from. Just subscribe because if you're listening to this right now and you're not a subscriber, wow, are you a loser? I don't want to throw it out there too far, but I'll loser. You need to be a subscriber. It's just that simple. So, you know, if you're a subscriber,
Starting point is 00:37:18 then you'll get the alert. You'll say, oh, my gosh, they are continuing on. Or you won't get the alert, and you'll say, oh, I'll just have to listen to chewing the fat. Anyway, I, anything else you want to wrap up? Jason, the recap of this, season 10, episode 16, the finale. That's not the finale. I know. Like I said before, I liked it because it was the Walking Dead, and because stylistically, the way they did it reminded me of the older, you know, episodes. Yeah. I was never like, oh, I wonder if they're ever going to get back to this character
Starting point is 00:37:51 and, you know, and continue that storyline. Because I knew they were going to do it the way they were doing it. Right. I just thought that it didn't really live up to those moments that I was waiting for. So I was let down multiple times during the show. That's the only thing, but all in all, you know, I would watch it again. Yeah, it was good to be. be back and it already realized that there was going that we're going to have six more
Starting point is 00:38:15 episodes that in season 10 that follows the finale that's not the finale we may get that yeah we can hope yeah max i thought it was pretty good i actually forgot to mention one thing i was so of what which i was surprised about which i was like oh they didn't do it gabriel's comic death yeah yeah he lived right maggie saved him mhm maggie and Whish, weesh, we, we, we. Didn't just save him. I'm calling him the Ripper until further notice. The Ripper? Okay. So how did he die in the comics?
Starting point is 00:38:48 He died by, he was on a water tower, and he saw the herd coming, or the horde, and he was climbing down, and he trips, and his foot gets stuck in the ladder, and then Beda slices his stomach open and just whispers at him, and walks by and eats him. What an idiot. So in this, it looked like they were going to do something similar, where, Or they were holding him down and one of the whispers were going to cut him open. Yeah, it sure did. And again, that would have been someone of significance dying. Right. But no.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Oh, Jason, Luke didn't die. The music guy, you thought he was going to die. I thought he was a long time ago after that one episode. Oh, there's another guy that we, that should be dead. Yeah. He should already be dead. Come on. He wears suits.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Did you notice that? He was wearing a suit. That's what he's always worn. That's a suit you had on, right? That's his one suit. In the zombie apocalypse, that's the first guy to die. What about Elton? He has a biter-proof suit.
Starting point is 00:39:46 He has the biter-proof suit. He's coming from a different world. He's coming from a secure campus society, and he's got the suit that, you know, is corduroy that's supposed to be, you know, rip-proof. And so, I mean, that's kind of funny. And you know he's going to get, you know,
Starting point is 00:40:01 the suit is going to get bitten and ripped by a walker, but it's not going to bite him all the way through. Yeah, totally. He's going to be happy. So he'll have a little duct tape on the. a shoulder or something as the show continues. So I'm looking forward to fear and the rest of the world beyond and this particular show, Talking Walking Dead, will be coming at you as needed on the Blaze podcast, Chewing the Fat Network.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Thanks, guys.
