Season 10, episode 17, titled Home, Sweet Home.
Yes, it's finally back.
Six extra episodes of season 10.
Welcome to it.
That makes this talking walking dead.
Welcome to it.
Episode description on IMDB, Maggie has returned with a story she's not ready to share,
even when her past catches up to her.
Negan's safety is at stake again.
Daryl and Maggie fight and on.
seen an unknown threat.
All right, so it was good to have it back.
Jason, what did you think?
Why say it like that?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I think I expected better than it was, but it was good.
Yeah, I see a lot of the new style and fear in the regular walkhead now, where it's like you get this really cool episode, but then you're not
sure how it ties in and you want you like you want to give them the benefit of doubt and hope that
there's more to this like stalker in the woods like there's something more on there um i i don't
really think there will be too much though because they have a gazillion other plot lines going on
that's what i wanted to see i wanted to hear about you know what happened with uh you know the king
and you know and and all that going up there with the console you know they're not the consulate
they're the the what are they max the ones in white
Commonwealth.
Commonwealth.
And then all the stuff with the consortium, I'm like, there's so much, and you wanted them to get there.
So I kind of felt like this was like one of those, okay, we got to explain up in the Maggie.
Let's spend an entire episode to do it type of thing.
You know what I mean?
But I still enjoyed it.
I did too.
Maximus?
I thought it was okay.
It was okay.
It wasn't the best episode we've had, definitely not.
But I thought it was okay.
It was good seeing Maggie again.
It's been a while.
Yeah.
Yeah, it is good to have, you know, it was good to have, you know, you know, it was okay.
You know, even Darrell was like, you know, good to see her again,
to Carol, because it was good, you know,
it was like bringing the family back together.
Right, right.
And we need more, we need more of those OGs around,
because sometimes it's just like, who are these people?
Is this a different show?
You know what I mean?
A lot of people like the new characters.
I like a couple of them.
I like them, too, but I don't want them to dominate the show.
I think that's where I'm at.
Like, I like them being B characters.
I just don't want them to dominate.
I want the OGs to dominate.
Well, they've been with, I mean,
That's what's going to happen, right?
Hopefully, Elijah and Cole, you know, getting a little cocky.
And there was one time I'm like, just killed him now, Daryl.
Be done with him.
Just be done with him and tell Maggie, sorry, had to.
Let's move on.
Right.
Elijah didn't speak the entire episode.
It was Cole doing that.
I was disappointed with his reveal.
I was hoping he would be like crazy scarred or something.
I don't know.
Waterbird or something.
Yeah, I was like, is this a regular dude under there?
Come on, man.
I know.
I was hoping to like star down his face or whatever.
It was like to reveal on Star Wars.
You're like, oh, no, that's not really him, is it?
No.
I can't be.
Exactly.
Which character are you talking about, Vader?
You know what character I'm talking about.
I saw it.
And then when we, you know, if we go down the rundown of the show, you used to got to see the aftermath of Hilltop.
You know, we got to see.
as they, I felt like clearing the parking lot was just a way to kill a bunch of walkers.
Yeah.
Really didn't.
I mean, I know we had to, you know, have a place to stay.
I get it.
We need to stay in the containers.
But, you know, just getting in and clearing that parking lot seemed to be,
we're just going to go kill a bunch of walkers just for the show.
Yeah.
And can we back up just a little tad bit?
Because we finally got the Maggie and Negan, you know.
Oh, yeah.
Air quote showdown.
I was so disappointed in that.
I wanted her to turn into a grizzly bear and just like,
like jump on Negan and just start clawing his face.
Go ahead.
Oh, you go first, Ed.
They said that they had a scene that they did, that they played out,
and they felt that it was better when they just edited all of it out
and left it the way it was with the way we saw it.
Wrong.
Wrong.
No.
Where they had a scene where they filmed, like, Maggie response to Negan
and actually, like, yelling at him or talking with him, and then she leaves,
but they thought it was stronger if they just have Negan say what he did
and then cut it all out and just have her walk away.
No.
No, that's not better.
No, that's not what I want from Macon.
Are you Angela Kegg now?
I should be.
I should be.
I tell you what, because that's not what any of us wanted.
I guarantee.
We'll get that later.
I think we'll get that later.
We better.
I hope so, too.
If they ride in some kind of reconciliation, I'm going to be so pissed off.
You don't reconcile from that.
Well, she said, right, at one point during the show, she said she would deal with Negan later, right?
Or another time or something like that.
So to Daryl, I think it was to Daryl or maybe it was one of her minions.
But she, I think, like we had one of our listeners.
Justin had a theory of how they're going to reconcile that,
and it's going to be Negan saving Herschel with the Reapers or something,
and Maggie's going to have to forgive him, and we're just going to move on.
Nope, I don't care.
He can save as many people as he wants.
In Maggie's eyes, she better hate him to the day he dies.
I know.
She let him live in the prison cell, and actually in the comics,
she, like, this happens later,
but she actually does let him live
after he's already exiled from Alexandria.
She's just like, you know what, screw it,
I'm letting you live, but I better never see you again.
I'd be fine with that.
I think I'd be fine with that.
But letting him exist within, you know,
within the, you know, the confines of Alexandria,
this does not seem real to me.
He doesn't seem right.
Right.
For her part.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For Judith might have a problem with that,
she actually liked him, but...
Oh, well.
And it was...
She can have a problem with it.
Sorry, kid.
I know there was also, you know,
controversy when, in the beginning,
when she was
walking with Maggie,
and Maggie said, you know, you're just like your mother.
And everybody's trying to figure
out which mother she's talking about.
Yeah.
That's funny.
I know.
I know.
Well, here's the thing.
she also said she also said i'm just like my father too which one
hey oh oh oh thank you
thank you be here all week
and so and then we got the uh you know the the the maggie story with darrell in the
container well first i mean the we we had a you know we had a pretty good uh kill with
crushing the skull i mean we all saw that coming that was cool yeah yeah we all saw that coming
Although, you know, Maggie was kind of, you know, got scraped and, you know, we didn't have to cut her arm off or anything.
Anyway, the, you know, it was just a scrape.
No, no, no.
That wasn't, that wasn't from the, I rewatched it.
That wasn't from a walker.
I think that was from, like, something from the door.
So she doesn't have to worry about the infection.
She has to worry about tetanus.
Don't, don't bring me down with facts.
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
I'm talking.
She doesn't have to worry about being undead.
She has to worry about tetanus and lockjaw.
I mean, it was good to have the skull smash, though.
I mean, that was a nice kill.
Maggie's picked up some skills.
She showed a few good kills.
Everyone now is into hurling knives and being extremely accurate with it.
Everyone's picked up.
I guess you would in this world, but it's cool to see.
So let me get this straight.
Daryl later on shoots the crossbow and doesn't hit the guy in the skull.
He just shoots him in the side so you can break it off.
Yeah.
But Maggie can throw a knife halfway across the forest and nails this guy right in the skull.
Is that right?
I just want to be clear about that.
That's what happens.
Okay.
Daryl wasn't trying to kill him.
He was trying to get him down so he could ask him questions.
Again, you're ticking me off with these facts.
So we do have this, you know, is this guy part of these reapers?
or was he just one lone wolf?
I was waiting to ask Max this and hoping you heard something I didn't,
because it seemed like it was random.
And he said to Maggie, quote, Pope marked you.
Yeah.
And I think that's going to be for later.
I mean, I hope.
I can't remember what his name is, so anybody please forgive me.
I can't remember what the actor's name is.
But the T-1,000, the actor who played the T-1-000 is going to be in a couple episodes later.
He might be part of the Reapers.
Okay.
So, you know, Pope marked you.
I mean, I guess that's the leader of the Reapers then or something.
That's what we're guessing.
I hope.
My big thing with this is, why do we need the Reapers?
What's the point?
I mean, we've, they're trying to explain.
There's a gazillion other plot lines out there.
Like, it's fine as like a back story.
Like, oh, yeah, I was having a deal with these.
We ran away.
That's now.
That's why I'm back with you guys.
Okay, done.
I don't need anything else.
I want to hear about the main plot line.
Not some random group.
Like, okay, we get it.
There's a lot of bad groups out there.
Fine.
Right.
Right.
And that's why you left, right?
That's why you got out of there.
Yeah.
But if it's going to be used to distract us from, you know, getting the real story,
I'm going to be a little bit annoyed.
See, again, again, who do you think you are, Angela Kane?
Yeah, right.
We'll just have to see.
I mean, who knows, maybe it will be good.
Although I do have to say one thing.
That was a pretty good idea with the sniper trap where you just sniped the one girl.
And then he was trying to drag them out.
Lure them in.
Yeah.
So that guy was obviously like a trained military sniper.
Yeah, he just pulls that knife out of his shoulder.
There's not a lot of us out there.
But, you know.
Yeah.
Train dangerous killers.
Yeah.
You know, we try to hide it.
and I have to say this
I was watching the show
and usually I
usually can give the show a pass on a lot of things
we all can
but when the scene happened
I was like
that's not how a grenade works
he's not really
plus
you know in the end right
he ends up killing himself
which is fine and you know
they duck and we live through that
that's fine he explodes
but we never
we didn't take the rifle
we didn't take the rifle
didn't take a sniper rifle
again weapons just left
I don't know I don't think they did
that was a dope rifle too
like an AR 10 or something
that whole sequence I was really
digging like I was in the back of my
mind I was like where is all this leading
but it was like
the music and everything
it seems stripped directly out of predator
you know when they're going through the jungle
and the predator was stalking it
it was almost exactly the same music
I was like oh it's kind of dope man
Yeah, that is. That's exactly right.
And it was a great thing right there in the woods.
They've split up.
They don't know what's out there.
So, yeah, it was really good.
No question.
And, of course, you know, the guy takes a knife, pulls it out, and then takes an arrow from a crossbow, breaks it off.
Okay.
It really is the Terminator.
Right.
I mean, it took a grenade to blow him up.
I mean, that's okay.
And he throws Darrell, like, halfway across the forest.
Like, what is going on here?
It's like, they made him even worse than, like, beta.
He could, like, kick beta's ass easy.
No doubt.
Baggy's hanging upside down?
Come on.
Okay.
Come on.
She gets out of it?
Okay.
I mean, she's the new superhero as she came back.
I actually, there's actually a funny story with the grenade scene when they did that.
And they had all the fake guts and gore going everywhere.
they shot it once and the director was like,
great job, guys, we got that in one take.
They were driving, and then they all showered,
what was driving home, and then they all got a call
like halfway home or already home, going,
hey, we need to do that scene again.
Please come back.
Really? What happened?
I don't know.
They didn't say what happened.
It's just like, we have to do another shoot.
Yeah, I mean, that's always tough.
One of the things that I thought was,
the talk between
Darrell and
Maggie in the container
I thought was
I thought it was okay
I guess it had to happen
I guess
but it just seemed like
okay
and then we've got the new
you know
what's her face or him
as part of the crowd
yeah like I said what's his face
how do you guys not remember her name
She's been in the show for like three years now.
Remember we talking about?
That dude?
Ellie.
Yeah, the dude.
The dude that travels with, yeah, the deaf dude.
The sister of Connie.
So, I mean, it was okay.
And it was good to see.
It was really a nice scene when we had the Herschel reveal.
That was nice.
Yeah.
I mean.
I mean, the baseball cap kind of brought a tear, I would say.
Kind of brought a tear.
Right.
Yeah, I know.
I know.
So there's no way, I mean, our group, that kid is in, man.
Yeah.
Right?
Our group, that kid is in, which, again, leads back to Maggie and Negan, right?
I mean, she sees Herschel and she just wants to, you know, club Negan to death.
Yeah.
I'd throw a knife across Alexandria what's left of it and just, you know, put it in his skull.
Yep.
So, yeah.
So, I mean, that fight has to happen, right?
You're right.
There has to be a confrontation.
With no reconciliation.
I don't think it's going to be a fist fight, but.
No, but I mean, with no reconciliation.
I mean, there's no.
I mean, I kind of like the theory of him saving Herschel to try to make up for it, but I still don't.
I think Maggie should not still not forgive.
I like that in the fact that we as an audience can understand like his character development so that we know he's made it, he's turned a corner.
Yes, fine, but that is not a race.
Right, right.
It doesn't erase what happened in the past.
Right.
Put yourself in that situation, you are not forgiving that, man.
I don't care what he does.
Like, Carol said she kind of forgave him or whatever earlier in the episode.
Like, kind of.
I know Daryl hasn't, but I know Carol.
They're all walking on that
we have to do what we have to do
to survive mentality, right?
I like that. Yeah, so we're
working on that theory, which,
of course, that's how we've survived
throughout the whole thing. We do what we have
to do. Yeah, because they know they're like
God, they're like God,
we know Neaghan's the only one who can deal
with this. Yeah, it's like, the only
way I think to see this relationship and
be able to be comfortable with it is
Negan's own philosophy. You know, people are a
resource. Right now,
Negan is a resource.
He's a badass.
You need badasses.
Right.
You don't got to be friendly with him.
You don't got to like, aw, you know what I mean.
But you need a devil every once in a while in this world.
Right.
And they all are, they all flirt with being the devil themselves from time to time.
You know, you have to be, right?
I mean, that's why we love Rick so much.
He was still on the side of good, which again goes back to Negan.
becoming, you know, turning the corner of not being Negan anymore, but no way that
Maggie can forgive that.
Yeah.
Turning a corner and him understanding that, okay, I got no beef with this group, this is the
group, you know, that I'm like serving now, basically.
I like him like that.
But, like, with that push pool, it's something I've always liked with, like, Rick and
the rest of the group.
Let's not go too far.
But I like vegan as not struggling with that push pool.
He is the devil.
And he just waiting to be under.
least for this group.
That way the rest of them don't have to.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Take him that direction.
That's a good direction.
Like he did with Alpha, like
where he just snuck into the whispers and
Right.
Stay that dude.
He's still the devil.
I'm curious with him because
the new season 10 finale
is called Here's an Egan.
The thing is, that's probably going to be
his backstory episode.
But I'm wondering, will that be
the last time we ever see Negan in the show.
Because...
Oh, no.
Because in the comics,
after the quick confrontation with Maggie,
he's saying, let me never see you again,
and Negan's in a farmhouse,
that's the last time we ever see Negan.
He has no connection to the Commonwealth storyline
at all in the comics.
That's a good point, Max.
That might be.
And also, he's an expensive actor.
Yes, he is.
They hardly use him anyway.
And now he roped in, you know, paying the wife.
So maybe it is the last one.
He's got the whole family on the payroll.
So it's like, we're done filming with me, didn't we?
Yeah, right.
Well, I mean Morgan's a great actor, but.
Well, no question.
It would be nice to see maybe we throw a, you know, just for the fans,
they may throw in a scene every now and then where we see.
Negan off at the farmhouse, you know, bashing in some guy that's trying to kill him.
Yeah.
And just a little note that says, you know, oh yeah, he's still here.
Right.
Still here if we need him.
But we never go.
We never do anything other than that.
You know, just to throw the fans a bone.
I'm comfortable with that.
As a fan, I want more of Negan, but I'm comfortable.
It makes more sense that he would have kind of like a minor banishment.
Not total banishment, but just separate from the main group.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He comes in ever so often for supplies.
Right.
Or to kill somebody they need killed.
Right.
Well, you're not getting your supplies for free, bro.
Okay, you have to be picked up for you to take care of.
We should write this show.
I know.
Thank you.
Thank you.
So, anyway, it's good to have it back.
No question.
It felt really good to have it back.
And I know that everybody was, well, they changed the open.
Did they?
I mean, they painted the number.
the letter's different.
Okay, thank you.
Oh, okay, thank you.
Your people, Max, we're all wound up about,
oh, it's not there, not burning anymore.
They've got it mossy, and they've changed it all.
And they put Lauren Cohen's name in the open.
Well, she's part of the show.
Yeah, that's not a controversy.
That's really more noticing things.
Yeah.
So we have five more episodes of season 10 now, right?
We have Find Me
One More
Splinter
What is that?
Diverged
Diverged
And both of them are diverged
Okay that's weird
Well I don't think that's right
Right
Your last one was the Negan one right
Here's Negan yeah
Yeah so that's that one
That's going to be sad now
Because now I think that you're right
That's going to be the end of them right
Maybe he'll kill him off.
Maybe. I don't know.
Here's Negan and goodbye.
Hello, we love you, but goodbye.
Wow.
That's sad now.
Now I'm bummed.
That's been a theory for a while.
Yeah.
So, I mean, that's kind of bummed.
So we have to look forward to thanks for this is Talking Walking Dead.
Thank you so much for coming along for the ride.
And, you know, I appreciate it.
Anything else for the thoughts on this episode?
Like I said, I think it was one of those
The ones we usually complain about
The transition episodes
But it was like even the conversation
That you said that was kind of boring
It was like, for me it was boring
Because it was like, it had to happen
And there's more of these things that have to happen
Where you're like, okay, okay, okay
Let's get on
I just hope they start really gearing up
Towards the end of this little
You know, you know, barrage of episodes
Pointing towards or explaining
Where they're going in the final season
and, you know, explaining consortium and all these other groups.
It's starting to tie everything together.
Oh, we have announcement that fears coming back after here's Negan,
the week after here's Negan is fear.
Yeah, that's cool.
Yeah, so, I mean, we're, you know, the dead is, dead is back,
and so is talking walking dead.
Hey, thank you, Jason and Max, and this is Jeff Fisher.
Thank you for listening to Talking Walking Dead, of course.
