Season 10, episode 18, titled, Find Me.
I don't know.
But anyway, that makes this talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it with myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill and Maximus Fisher,
Walking Dead last night, as I said, titled Find Me,
the IMDB description, an adventure for Daryl and Carol,
turned sideways when they come across an old cabin.
It takes Daryl back to the days when he left the group after Rick
disappeared, and he relives the time that only the apocalypse could manifest.
Jason?
I'm sorry, I fell asleep when you read the IMD description.
Usually, you know, their descriptions are very riveting, and I'm all in.
But when you just opened up with that, I just instantly fell asleep.
Sorry about that, guys.
That's awesome.
There was, I think, the thing that really encapsulated the entire episode was a single quote.
from what's that chick's name?
Leah.
Where she just said,
this is meaningless.
And I was like,
you could have,
you kind of buried the lead.
You could have had that quote
at the very top,
so we knew what this was all about to be about.
And then,
you know.
Yeah, our expectations
wouldn't have been
any higher than that.
Maximus?
I don't think it was as bad as you think,
but it's not the best episode.
Don't get me wrong.
It's not the best episode, but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be.
I don't know.
This is the second episode in a row where Max has conceded this is not the best episode for it.
I know.
So as a super fan like Max is, that says a lot.
It sure does.
Kind of what they're doing with these episodes.
It makes you think he's getting paid from him.
He's working for AMC now.
Okay.
Remember that one episode of World Beyond where I said it was awful?
Yeah, I'm not getting paid.
That doesn't count, though.
That's just part of the universe.
That's off to the side.
It doesn't matter.
So we started out with, you know, the Darrell recap of life, and he's out in the woods.
And, you're right, it could have been.
I thought for sure, before we got into Leah, I thought for sure this was just, and it was, really, the beginnings of where dog came from.
I mean, that was the whole episode was because of that, right?
The dog origin story.
That's what this episode was.
So, you know, we have, you know, the flashback, you know, they find the house the dog comes from.
In fact, that probably should have been the title, the house, the dog comes.
But, you know, with the flashback and, you know, Carol is, he doesn't, he wants to go out alone, right?
He wants to just be alone, don't talk.
I enjoyed that opening scene where he's there on the motorcycle and he's like, just don't talk.
I didn't do, yeah.
I want to be alone.
That's Darrell for you.
See what I mean?
Exactly.
And of course she starts
and then of course there's a spearfishing scene with them.
Yeah, I mean that's good.
They're at the camp and we have the flashback
and, you know, them, you know, we catch the fish and she's
got her foot cramp and, you know, it's, and then we go into the flashback.
And of course, we find Leah.
And the only good thing I think that,
it comes from that
togetherness,
really, is that
you know, you get to
see a little bit of,
I don't know.
It was surprising that
even in the flashback, it was funny
to me that, you know, they kept
going, you know, three months,
three months before, you know, five
months, ten months. And after ten months
of being with Leah, she's bitching at him.
No wonder he wants to be quiet.
I wonder he wants to be quiet.
Why, this is a leave.
Shut up.
Pretty accurate as far as like a regular relationship.
It sure is.
I was like, it sure is.
Getting kind of close to home here.
Even in the pandemic, it's the same thing.
You mean apocalypse.
And I had, oh yeah, whatever, same thing.
Even the, I had a person that, you know, communicates with us on my Facebook messaging.
And he said, even back then.
I've got to find the quote now, but he was joking about even then the trailer park.
It hasn't changed much.
The trailer park women are bitching and have it as a shotgun.
It's pretty funny.
But we had, you know, the struggle, and then it ends up with Carol, you know,
and him fighting over finally, you know, hey, you left.
No, I didn't leave.
And you know they're going to get back together, right?
Because this show, actually, I think...
The whole thing was just put in because this is the beginning of the Daryl and Carol show after Walking Dead, right?
Is that what they're doing?
Yeah.
Because there's another Daryl and Carol episode later down the line here, I think.
Yeah.
So, yeah, after Walking Dead, they've already done the deal where it's going to be this Daryl and Carol show that's, you know, after season 11, it starts in 2020.
23 or whatever, where it's just Darrell and Carol.
Well, I like both characters, so I guess I'll watch it.
But if last night's episode was anything to look forward to, I don't know.
It was one thing it caught me off guard.
It was interesting seeing Daryl actually in a romantic relationship.
We've kind of got that with Connie, but seeing this was really different.
Yeah, that is true.
And they said, you know, that they were making a big deal about, and I was reading that, you know, they went through all of this and there was no, there wasn't a hug or kissing or anything.
But that was COVID protocols.
Yeah, those out of.
Yeah.
And then the writer, whatever her name was, did a, you know, fantastic job.
She was saying that she didn't know if they would have made that happen anyway, even outside of the COVID protocols.
So we don't know if we would have gotten a full-blown sex scene, basically.
Right.
They must have had to have tested negative just to be within speaking distance with each other and be on this show.
But just to make sure that they're, you know, uberly woke and all that stuff.
Right.
It's just not having kiss.
Like, they can be face-to-face.
They just can't kiss.
And the closest scene was them lying down, right, looking at the stars or the sun through the paper, you know, the picture or whatever.
whatever it was where they're laying down together being, you know, together and in love.
You know, I kind of forgot, though, that Daryl was out there, basically those seven just looking for any sign of Rick.
Yeah.
He was alone pretty much just looking for Rick until he found her.
You know, I don't mind seeing these types of things if they lead towards something.
Like, okay, cool.
You want to show us that he was out there for, you know, years and years and years looking for Rick?
do a flashback and then show something that points towards the overall plot.
You know, give me something.
Throw me a little bit of a bone.
Oh, he was in this relationship.
Okay, fine.
What does that mean towards the current plot?
Oh, nothing?
Why the hell did I just spend 60 minutes here watching this stupid show?
It's all the theory going around, actually.
Maximus?
She could be pregnant with his kid.
Oh.
Little Daryl.
And what does that mean?
That could follow up with the story.
of either the Darryl Carroll show,
or maybe she's in the Commonwealth.
Yeah, because she just left, right?
Yeah.
She just disappeared.
Okay, so...
Go ahead.
Well, yeah, if she's in the Commonwealth
or something like that,
I'm more interested.
Because it will be a vehicle
into the main plot line.
But if not,
I mean...
At this point, we're grasping at straws.
Like, theories like that are grasping at straws for hope.
They sure are.
To try to make the episode matter,
right?
They're trying to make the episode matter.
matter because like everyone wants to know why did I just spend my time watching this.
It was funny.
I was like tweeting my disgust of this episode and then it was very, very mixed.
Like some people were like, yeah, they were going downhill for a while.
And another one and some others were like diehard saying, what are you talking about?
This is actually, this is, we needed this so bad.
We didn't need another, you know, group to be worried about.
And I was like, I agree.
I don't want another group to be worried about either.
I want them to deal with the groups they've already established.
Not this, you know, the one with, what's her name?
The Reapers.
Yeah, I don't care about them.
I think that's stupid.
I don't want to see about them.
I don't want to hear about them.
I don't care.
Let's just move along with the damn storyline for crying out loud.
But the Reapers.
I've already forgotten about the Reapers,
and now you brought me back to the Reapers again.
Really?
I mean, I care so little about that.
I can't even imagine.
hearing about it, and they're going to force it on me sooner or later.
I know.
Because we still have next week where we're going to go with the preacher man.
Aaron and Gabriel, which I'm excited for.
They're out searching for supplies to bring back to Alexandria, and the IMDB says small tragedies lead to bigger tragedies,
as faith is broken and optimism is fragmented when they are put to the ultimate test.
So, who's that me?
I mean, Gabriel has to kill people.
Big deal.
But of course, then we're getting next week, actually, the character of Robert Patrick,
which is Mays, so I don't know.
Who?
Who is that?
Robert Patrick is the T-1000.
Oh, they died?
They blew himself up?
No
And it's the actor who played the T-1000 in Terminator 2
Oh
Okay, but I mean what's his point in the show?
I have no clue.
Nobody knows.
We just know his name is Mays.
That's the character he's playing.
So these three, I mean, we've had a couple new characters with
what's her face coming back, right?
Maggie brought a couple new characters in.
we have Leah brought in to the show with Darrell this week,
and now they're bringing in a new one for the third episode.
I mean, they're ramming some new characters down our throat.
So that is part of the new universe, right?
I mean, they're adding some new people for the universe.
What cracks me up is these new shows is I don't care about any of the plot lines
are focusing on.
You know, like, we want to find out what happened to the king
and the other people out there in that.
We want to know about that.
They're not giving us any bone on that whatsoever.
That's two episodes.
That's actually two episodes from now.
So anything up until then is I'm considering filler, basically,
because I don't care about any of stuff.
And I also want to...
And, of course, your favorite character is Gabriel, right?
Oh, gosh.
He's on my list.
It's all of my list.
And then, uh...
Aaron.
I will tell you, I saw that, uh,
that chick that plays Rosita.
I saw her little, what was it, Netflix show for Selena.
Pretty dang good.
Pretty dang good, we'll say.
If it would have been a different actress, maybe not so dang good.
But pretty dang good.
Yeah.
I mean, she actually, you know, did appear to look the part.
She did.
She did.
But the other one is the Maggie Negan Showdown.
I want it!
And they're not giving it.
I know.
I know.
And those are the characters that we actually care about.
Right.
Those are the ones.
We want to have those, maybe not even resolved,
but we definitely want to have them happen.
We want to move those characters forward.
I don't feel like watching another long episode of Gabriel and Aaron,
go out looking for food, and they meet up with the dude.
And that's fine.
I know. They're going to find a pile.
We saw on the preview, they find a pile of Bibles,
and Gabriel's going to have to stab somebody in the heart through a Bible or something,
and that's going to shatter his faith.
Okay, I got it. I already wrote the shot for it.
Now, here's the thing.
They did say this episode is going to be scary, so maybe this one's horror-esque.
I don't know.
Well, I mean, you know, look, we just need to move forward.
Let's get our characters and move them forward.
You know what's pissing me off?
You know what's pissing me off?
is like the only way we were able to enjoy fear is before they even started doing their little thing was to say let's just treat these as one-offs let's just that's all you know we'll enjoy it better that way if we're not thinking about the plot let's just that just that we're watching a zombie flick you know a 60 minute zombie flick let's just treat it like that and then I was like okay cool I'm enjoying fear now it was all there may do that with the walking dead now too yeah yeah and that seems to be that seems to be now the new mindset right instead of a
instead of that storyline, we're just going to do one-offs.
Yeah.
Because it worked for fear.
The only reason it worked for fear is because you screwed it up to begin with.
Yeah, right.
Right.
Had you laid out fear the way we told you to, you wouldn't have had to do the one-offs.
Yeah.
So, I mean, you're right, and that's what they're driving us to.
And I think that has to do.
Look, at the time, I mean, I just saw someone saying that,
that, you know, the numbers are so low now for Dead that, you know, why are they even,
why is AMC even still making the show?
Well, the numbers on cable aren't as strong as they were.
I think they had, you know, almost 3 million last week, something like that, which is
terrible for Walking Dead.
Except AMC Plus.
Right.
And they have between 6 and 9 million subscribers on AMC.
MC Plus.
Really?
Yeah.
I mean, they're saying, well, the last
article I saw was
they are, and they believe
they'll be at $9 million by the end of this year.
So they're somewhere between $6
and $9 million right now
on AMC Plus.
So while they still
care about those cable numbers,
then not really,
not so much.
I mean, they're still making, you know,
obviously $3 million.
I mean, there's plenty of shows that would kill for that.
No.
There's plenty of shows that if we had, do you think if we had dead people walking around killing people, we'll get three million?
Plenty of shows would do that.
What's crazy is that three million people watching are probably just like us, where we're not entirely happy with what's going on right now, but we're so invested that we're not going to stop watching.
We have to see how they end it.
I know.
I know.
I know.
So one thing I actually see here talking about this episode, Find Me,
is when you wrote in the notes when Daryl's talking about his brother,
I see you added in question Marks Merle.
Yeah, I mean, at first I'm like, no, his brother, didn't his brother die?
I mean, he's dead long gone.
He's talking about Rich.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I got it.
I just wrote myself a little joke.
To bring back Burl.
I have a
Burl doll in my room.
Don't judge me.
It's okay.
Is this like a life-sized doll?
Like the blow-up kind?
Again, don't question.
Yes, you have a blow-up doll of Michael Rooker.
I think we should go into this a little bit more.
Yes, and it's the one with this stub hand, okay?
Just leave me alone.
The one thing really kind of just kind of hurt
During this episode
It wasn't even during the episode
It was during the commercials
They had like ice cream or whatever
And then they zoom out
And it says TWD the final season coming
Summer 2021
That hurt
Yeah
Yeah
And and that you know look
And getting back to the numbers on TV
Right that you start thinking about that
I mean especially with how
The COVID
has put a damper in production.
Man, the movies are so far off now.
I mean, it's going to be tough to draw an audience.
So on that, on Max's comment right there,
that's what it pisses me off even more with these filler episodes.
It's because there's definite finality very soon.
Yeah.
We have one more real season.
So there's limited time and they're wasting hours, I feel.
with these episodes like last night.
Which leads me to believe that these episodes are just to introduce characters
that they're going to bring back for the universe, right?
That's all they're for.
Yeah.
That's all they're for.
That's why they're so kind in giving us these six extra episodes.
April 4th.
That's where I'm really excited.
Here's an Egan.
I am too.
Yeah.
That'll be fun to watch, no doubt about that.
So, you know, we go back.
And another thing that I didn't like too much about this episode with Darrell is they made,
I feel like Darrell is better at being out there in the woods than they portrayed him as.
You know, they made it seem like he was really, really struggling out there.
And while I believe that, you know, you would struggle out there in the woods on your own, no question.
But I would, in my mind, I'm thinking, well, Daryl wouldn't.
Right.
But Daryl wouldn't.
I mean, he's the top guy out there in the woods.
Yeah.
On that note, when they stumbled upon that cabin and, like, it looked like it was a surprise to him.
Like, he was there for, like, what, seven years?
Right.
And out in this specific part.
He just know there.
I mean, yeah, in that area.
Right.
Right, right, right, right.
Right.
He lived at the cabin for crying out.
He didn't know he was about to stumble on there.
this thing? I was like, what?
I did notice that, too.
Apparently, they actually, apparently they did
set this up in an earlier episode
in when, uh,
I think it's when Daryl and Carol
are throwing the acorns at the cans.
Remember that scene? Yeah.
I think Carol does say
like, you can't keep taking care of
her dog forever. So they had
referenced it previously.
I didn't even catch that.
Didn't even.
Huh. Okay, but
if we're to believe this episode last night
she didn't know about her until last night
all that stuff with her
being at the camp and stuff was all flashback stuff
but she Carol didn't know about it until now
yes she did when she
when Carol picks up the floor hole
and she finds Daryl's note that says
I belong with you find me
she looks to Daryl and says
lived here.
You didn't tell me everything.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Okay, well, don't talk down to me with your little attitude
to bring you down with facts, all right?
So Carol did know at least a little bit about it
because Darrell told her.
Yeah, all right.
I think he even said, I told you everything.
I told you everything or something like that, right?
Yeah, yeah, I did.
Yeah. All right, so, never mind.
So that's it.
I mean, we have four more shows left in the extended season 10 episodes.
And we'll see if, hopefully, they don't all just lay groundwork for the future and the future of the universe.
