Season 11, episode four.
Yes, it still is the final season.
Title of the show, Rendition.
And I'm excited to get into today's show.
So welcome.
This is Talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it.
Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchrell, Maximus Fisher for episode four of the final season, season
11.
Darrell and Dog get captured by the Reapers.
they are taken to a meridian and reconnect with a familiar figure from their past and just let me say
I just want to say I called it I called it I was going to give you your props I want to
calm down it's okay yes Maximus did call the reconnection of the familiar figure
that Leah was part of the reapers however I didn't I didn't suspect that that was the group she was
running away from in the beginning so that one I know
never really got it on to. I thought she just joined them. But nope, this is the group that she
was with when Darrell met her in the cabin. Awesome. And so I know that, you know, I'm sure that
we have one person. Max and I talked last night after the episode, wondering what the
review would be from our co-host Jason Buttrill. Because we both have a feeling of how that review
was going to go. So,
Jason, how did
you enjoy Reddition?
I might surprise you. I liked
rendition. I thought it was cool.
I, uh, so my,
I have other issues with like
how the, how they're approaching
this entire season, really?
Because this entire plotline
seems pointless at the moment,
but maybe it doesn't later.
You know, I, it's commonwealth, so you'll be happy there.
I was watching, I was waiting
for, uh, um,
What's her name?
What's her name?
The one that called in the helicopter for Rick.
Jaydus?
Yeah, Jadis.
I was waiting for her to show.
I thought she was going to show up in this episode.
I kept waiting for it.
And that was what I was thinking the connection was going to be.
But if they don't have some kind of connection, I'm just curious why it's destroyed.
So, like, as we have it right now, and before we get to the episode.
Right.
We've got, like, almost like, secondary characters that appear to be on the
main plot line of the
finality of the show. That's with the Commonwealth
and all that stuff. Right. And then we have
the main characters, the one we care the most
about with this little
side thing.
And I'm, so I'm still,
I'm like, surely it's not a side thing.
Surely it's all going to connect together.
But then my fear
is that it's not and it's just a big distraction
while they
waste time until the second half.
Right. And I will say that
this episode didn't
to give us what was happening
with our other characters.
It was all just this.
So it was an introduction
to this new group and
a new bad guy.
Which is cool. Yeah, which is fine.
And, you know, I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the reapers.
You know, we have,
we had another
bad guy that's
acting by Richie Costa.
Another Englishman for you, Jason.
Oh, gosh.
Yes, but he is, he is, he is the main
character of breaking bad so i think we can give him a one of them one of them yeah um you know he's been
he's been you know a lot of a lot of shows and it was you know he can play that role well and did
but uh i just i i laughed out loud when i was when i saw him i'm like isn't he english and so
yeah they may a break i know i know they bring them all in no question well for for like for a for a
For a person like me, like a military veteran, you always have these like, I think they even made like a comedy about it, uh, some spoof movie, but like how veterans would like handle the, uh, you know, zombie apocalypse.
Yeah.
And so I, I instantly thought there and I was like, oh, uh, military veterans, like military contractors.
Like that really got me into this episode.
I was like, oh, that's kind of cool.
Yeah, that was, that was really cool how it was like people, they said it on the show that comes on after how this one seemed more.
like a realistic take on soldiers what would happen during these times.
Right.
The only curveball was this weird religious blend to it.
But I thought it was still cool because this guy's obviously gone crazy.
Well, his explanation of it was, you know, to get you to the religious point was worth it.
Right.
I mean, he was, they were, you know, they were fighting soldiers for the U.S. or government, as he put it.
and then broke away from that as mercenaries and then survived, you know, after the fall, they were fighting, but then survived in a church.
And, you know, that drove them to be for, you know, they believe that they're working with the hand of God.
So, okay.
Yeah.
All right.
Yeah.
I think that I know that's, I know that's, that was a hard angle to take on it because they can't just say, oh, there's, there's,
these military guys and now they're just being evil because then you're going to piss off a lot of
people. So I think that's why they also, they had to string in this, you know,
religious aspect to it. Yeah, that's kind of, that's an interesting point to it.
They got to have somebody. Yeah. Why they would do it.
But I mean, I'm not going to nickpick it. I'm really not because I just, like I said,
I enjoyed the episode. I'm just kind of annoyed that it seems like a distraction at the moment.
Like I'll, I'll reverse course if this ties in. So that remains to be seen.
And how are we going to, and how are they going to?
tie it in. I mean, these guys are two,
uh, no way
our other people get brought in like Darrell.
You know, Darrell is, uh, you know, undercover, uh,
you know, Mr.
Mr. Hiding out being a part of them, but not really.
And, you know, no way that, uh, you know,
Negan, Maggie, I don't care about anyone else, uh,
gets in this group, no way. Yeah.
I mean, there's just no way.
So I don't know.
I guess Daryl kills her, Leah, in the end, and Negan or Maggie kill Hand of God's soldier,
and the rest of them either die in a regular battle or run away, right?
Like the guy that got killed last night.
You knew he was going to die.
You know he was going to kill that guy.
That was awesome.
I wasn't expecting the fire.
I really wasn't expecting the fire.
I thought he was just going to put a bullet in his head.
Yeah, you got to wonder the rest of the group, I can't.
I mean, it seemed like there was some looks going on there.
Yeah.
Homegirl and maybe a few others were like, whoa, this seems like it's going in a direction we didn't plan on it going in.
Right.
Right.
Because we're all family.
But you can do this.
We all actually ran.
we all actually were running through the woods
doesn't necessarily mean we were running away
we were just trying to stay alive
right yeah I mean
I was like I was kind of like annoyed with the guy
they didn't have a better response
I was like come on man I was running after another guy
and that dude made me in the bat
you know what I mean
we're trying to stay alive
we're in a battle
we're in the woods I know
it didn't seem like
that would just you know
leads you to how crazy
the, you know, the leader is now right.
Right.
But, yeah, I thought Pope was a really cool character.
I really did.
Yeah, I think he's, yeah, I think he's fine.
Like I said, I like this group.
I like the group.
I like pretty much everyone in it.
They're just interesting, which they have a hard time,
I think, making interesting characters.
Side groups, yeah.
And side groups.
That's for sure.
That's for sure.
Now, you know, it was interesting that,
I just I found it frustrating that it was that's all we saw.
Yeah.
That better be this better lead us to something more than just another little fight and we move on.
It can't be that.
It cannot be that.
I mean, what was the, so where did the Jadis thing come from?
Was that, am I?
No, you're thinking about World Beyond.
Yeah, we talked about, we talked about her showing up in the promo for World Beyond.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, man.
Yeah.
So the entire time I'm thinking about like, when's Jada's coming in?
When's Jada's coming?
That's going to make everything okay about this.
You know, it's aversion.
Right.
Right.
Yeah, because we talked, we talked, I guess it was last week, about Jada showing up in the promo for World Beyond and how they were going to tie that in and how, you know, that may or may not tie Rick, you know, bring Rick back into the fold.
Oh, so I get it.
you thought that it was going to be this episode when really it was world beyond.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah, because, I mean, that's one of their biggest complaints of people that have like
lot that they're not watching Walking Dead anymore.
They're like, oh, great, another group.
Oh, great, another group.
You know what I mean?
And when I've complained on Twitter on stupid things that annoy me about it,
like when they have these long, stupid, like before I would consider character building
stuff, which I wouldn't mind.
But we're way beyond that in this show now.
that people are like, oh, what'd you expect
than to fight another group?
Well, that's what's going on now.
They just introduce another group.
So if it doesn't lead to,
now is the time of the show
when they need to be connecting all the dots
because we're wrapping this up.
I agree.
And we're far enough along in the
end times
that the people left
are all,
they've all done
horrific things to be a lot.
They all have.
I'm sorry.
They've done some work.
Absolutely.
And we've all killed people that we felt bad about,
and we've all killed people that we've had to, that we didn't want to.
That's part of, that's why you're still alive, right?
So it's surprising to me that we still have some of these really bad groups still around
when we have larger groups like CRM and,
Commonwealth taking over.
You know what I mean?
It's been long enough now. Some of these groups
like these soldiers you think would have
already been handled.
I mean, that's what happened with Negan.
He was a big
handler of a group that went
down thanks to our people.
But, you know, these groups,
I mean, there have got to be few
and far between. So they have to tie in.
I agree. But it also did take a lot to bring
Negan and especially the whispers down.
but they exist still.
And I don't know what Daryl's hoping for, right?
I mean, he's telling them kind of a lie to get involved,
you know, to be involved in the group and stay alive, obviously.
So maybe he isn't hoping anything.
He's just hoping to stay alive and make a move when he can.
I don't know what he's what he's hoping for because I don't know that Maggie and Negan are,
you know, he's telling him they've got more people than they do.
but they certainly don't have enough power to overtake these soldiers.
Yeah, I'm surprised at the small number, really.
I think they said, was it like 12 people?
Yeah, I think 15.
I mean, what Darrell said with the 15 people.
Yeah, about 15.
I mean, at the end, so now you've got 14, right?
Yeah.
Or no, they've replaced one with Darrell, so they're still at 15.
That is true.
I'm assuming he's just waiting for the time to play spoiler or to play sabotage,
saboteur, or something like that.
I mean, very dangerous for Terrell right now.
Yeah.
I agree.
But I also think that maybe, I could be wrong on this, maybe he will try to bring Leah out of it because I think he still loves her.
But that's my guess.
Yeah.
Yeah, but no way.
She's no way.
I mean, I guess she let him live, right?
And she, dog stays with her until she dies.
Okay.
I mean, here we go.
The dog, the damn dog, at this point, dude, like, when, how many times is this dog going to abandon Daryl?
I was like, come on, man.
Like, at the drop of a hat, he just goes off with some other random chick.
I mean, I'm right.
I know.
Not random, this was his original owner.
Yeah, but the dog's been with him for how many years after that, yeah.
All this time.
Come on.
I think you've earned some loyalty there.
Right.
that's what I dare to just put an arrow in him.
All right, that's enough.
I know.
It's like the dog doesn't like him, but he's like just waiting for the, you know, for someone he really liked.
So just goes off of Carol.
Right.
And now he's back with Leah.
Okay, you know, screw off.
Oh, no, good.
You found Leah for me.
Thank you.
Not to mention he always runs off at the most random time and Darrell has to go chase him down.
I mean, at some point, you got to think that maybe this is not a good relationship.
You thought he was going to die this episode.
I did.
And at some point,
think Darrell would say
the dog went running off.
Oh, well.
Oh, well.
Man.
He might do that now, but, like,
originally it was because he didn't want to lose his connection to Leah.
Like, we all know that.
Okay.
I mean, it's nice to have a companion when you're out by yourself,
and it's not a human.
You know, Daryl does not a big human companionship kind of,
guy. So he's got his, you know, it's nice to have the dog around. But again, if the dog's just
going to leave you at the drop of any old female, what the hell? I mean, I'm sharing my food
with you. I'm taking you out and I'm protecting you and you go off. No, have a nice day. The
rough greens are mine, my friend. Yeah, no rough greens.
Absolutely. It is. So, anyway, we have that group. And so next week, we saw the
premiere of
Out of the Ashes.
We saw some of the clips of that.
We go, we're in Alexandria for a little while,
and then we're in Commonwealth for a little while.
And we get Negan and Maggie a little bit next week, too.
So we will get back to seeing what everybody is up to.
We probably won't get any Darrell with Leah at all.
He's just,
we're just going to have him off with this group.
and we get
I know we get
Maggie and Negan maybe
trying to find him
coming up on him but we won't
get Darrell and Leah at all
doesn't look like although there was a great
scene
in the promo for next week with
Judith and I don't know if you saw it Jason
but I thought of you it was awesome
it was awesome she's training the other kids
how to fight
okay
and some of the
the older kids are playing with walkers.
They've got a little cut in the fence where these walkers are sticking their head through
and they're toying with them, you know, trying to put their hands close to their mouth
and just what some punk teenagers would do.
And Judith comes up and tells them to stop it.
And the one kid pushes her down and says, shut up.
You're so annoying.
No wonder your mother abandoned you.
Ooh.
And Judith is like, what did you say?
He's like, you're just annoying.
Shut up.
And he turns around.
And then he turns back around and Judas has got the sword to his throat.
And she goes, say it again.
So I want that.
It's not going to happen.
But I want Judith to stab that kid right through a freaking net.
We both immediately thought of you.
Like that is exactly what you wanted, Jason.
I want a lot more of that.
That's the Judith we want to see.
Say it again.
It was awful.
That's great.
It was really good.
I'm looking forward to the scene because I do want her to kill that kid.
She won't, but I want her too bad.
So I'm looking for it.
So next week we have quite a bit to look forward to with our group instead of wasting our time with Darrell and that damn dog.
If it's not, gosh, and I'm going to be so pissed if we are just wasting our time with that.
I don't know.
I don't know.
And you're right because now that you start thinking more about it, where else would we go with it?
What else is there other than, you know, Negan and Maggie and maybe sick boy back at the church, you know, sneaking up and killing him somehow?
The only thing I can think of is if they have some kind of connection to either the CRM group,
or the Commonwealth, or while they're out messing with them, they run across those other two
groups.
Beyond that, but I don't think that's going to be the case.
I bet you what they're going to do is it's just another group.
They're going to have to fight so they can get food and they can bring the food back
to Alexandria.
That's going to be it.
My prediction is this whole thing is just to be a connection piece between Daryl and
Leah.
Okay.
I mean, that wouldn't surprise me either, but it seems that's a waste of time.
And weren't they sitting up that deaf chick with Daryl?
And we know she's still alive.
Yes, we're actually getting an episode with her this season.
If you look in the little episode things, it says, it says Connie and Virgil episode.
We're actually going to get that.
Oh.
So that goes towards your prediction that maybe Daryl kills her.
Yeah, he has to.
I mean, that if unless they're tying that in to, you know, walk down happily ever after Lane,
which is not going to happen.
But unless that's the case,
he has to kill her and someone has to burn the leader,
Mr. Fortitude Saludus,
with their little chant after he was forged by fire.
Ordained by God.
Yes.
He's got to burn and she's,
Daryl's just got to,
has to kill her.
Yeah.
Out of love.
I mean, that's the only way you can do it to people
that you love, right, is put a knife to their skull.
So that's, you know, a little something to look forward to.
And it's pronounced for the tutus and lootus.
Yeah, okay.
If that's the way you said it, you know, it's in Latin.
With your military group, fine.
They were speaking in Latin.
I mean, it is possible that they tie in with some of the military guys at the Commonwealth or CRM.
and they know who they are.
So maybe the military guys goes,
ooh,
those were the mercenaries we had to deal with in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Or,
you know,
we worked with them after the fall in D.C.,
something like that that would bring them in.
But that's,
I don't think so.
They're too crazy for that.
Yeah.
I mean,
I guess another scenario would be,
because the Whisper War is over.
The other group,
Eugene, King and all them,
they don't know that yet.
So they're still thinking, oh, we have to bring Commonwealth soldiers to help them in the whisperer war.
Maybe this other group, there's Commonwealth that's going to have to go in and help them with this other group.
I don't know.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, that's possible.
That could be good.
That would be a good battle.
That would be a really good battle.
Because in that, in one of the promos, they talk about next week that Eugene is busy all in love with this girl.
and she says that she wants to help him.
So I'm sure that's what he's doing, right,
is trying to convince them to go back and help his people
and bring them into the fold.
Yeah, that's probably, that'd be interesting.
Anyway, we're thinking best case scenario here.
So we're giving them a lot of credit.
We sure are.
It happens.
There's only one way to find out, which is tune in next week.
