Season 11, yes, season 11, it is the beginning of the end of Walking Dead.
And that makes this a very, very special talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it with myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, Maximus Fisher.
A little bit of talking Walking Dead.
When we were last together, I mean, we were talking, when we were lost together for the Mothership Show,
That was in April of this year as we ended season 10 with their last six episodes.
That last 22, the 22nd episode, here's Negan.
And now we're back, right?
I know.
It seems like a long, long time ago.
And it was only April, but it definitely feels like another lifetime ago.
Especially because we had to suffer through an atrocious fear season.
Made it even longer.
I think.
Right.
And then we had the World Beyond too, right?
No.
No?
No.
We've only...
It was at the same time, wouldn't it?
No?
We haven't had World Beyond at all this year.
Oh, darn the luck.
Oh, no.
That's what I mean.
Dang.
So we didn't.
It was just fear that we had to suffer through?
Okay.
Yeah, there was some suffering a little bit during the fear, too.
But the trailers, if you follow me on Twitter at Jeffrey JFR, you, I've sent all the trailers
out.
You can see them.
They look really good.
and they make this
season of what's in store
seem really, really good.
I'm looking forward to it.
I tell you what,
if this season isn't anything short
of an absolute Babe Ruth home run,
wow, what a fail.
I mean, because they've got a swing for the fences.
They have to swing for the fences.
And it's going to be hard
because my expectations are so through the roof.
I know.
So through the roof.
I don't know.
There's so much good stuff they can hit.
It's going to be hard for them not to knock it out of the park, I think.
But I don't know.
Like they worry me with some of their like, I don't know.
It's almost like they're trying to be too artsy with some of these shows.
I guess I'm maybe it's unfair because I'm reverencing fear too much.
But I don't know.
Well, it seems lately that they're trying.
You know, they're an established iconic show now, right?
And now that's the end.
And I read all kinds of stories about how they were all surprised
and, you know, bummed when they got the call that they were,
that it was the final season, and they're all promoing that,
yeah, Angela called.
And then she, you know, then she hopped in with, what's his face,
Dimple.
I've got Scott on the line, too.
Oh, Kimball.
I'm going to dial him in on this call.
And they all thought, oh, no, I'm going to die.
Yeah, the whole show is going to die.
But, yeah, I'm excited.
I hope it's a really good season.
We all do that.
This year also is the beginning of the end of two shows because it's also the final season of World Beyond as well.
Oh, man.
Tragic.
World Beyond only had two seasons.
What am I going to do?
So it looks like the only show that's going on after this is fear.
It's fear, yeah.
But we have, look, we have 24 episodes.
So it's not as if this final season of Walking Dead isn't going to, you know, this week when it comes on and then that's it.
You know, so we have 24 episodes and we have, I know that for AMC cable channel or whatever we have, that starts on Sunday the 22nd.
But if you have AMC Plus, they said that the new, you know, this latest show will start streaming on the 15th.
which is this Sunday.
We're recording this on Friday the 13th.
And, you know, for a very special talking walking dead weekend.
So, you know, you're going to be able to see it, which is, you know, which is kind of cool.
It makes me almost want to get an MC plus.
We've been debating at the past couple months.
That's like, it seems like it's kind of cheating for the actual, you know, patting the numbers.
I know.
So like, so on Monday morning when they report all the view.
You're going to be like, dang, that's a lot.
But what they're probably not telling everyone is, okay, well, that's, you know, from the 15th all the way through that week, all the way to that.
I'm okay with that.
No problem.
So I see where they've listed the titles of the first five or six shows.
So, you know, episode one and two is Archeron part one, archeron part two.
And they have exactly, you know, the explanations for those.
shows, whereas, you know, the group discovers a member did not make it to safety inside the subway
car surrounded by walkers going back out into the tunnel in search of. Maggie's mission takes the
team through the subway tunnel, challenged by Walker's and Negan and Eugene's group, and
Yumiko seeks answers about her brother. And I'm already like, okay, and we got the Commonwealth.
And so I'm, you know, I'm, okay.
You know what I mean?
You think it's too much?
Yeah, I don't know.
I tell you one thing that needs to happen for sure is that somewhere, and maybe not in the first half of season 11,
but somewhere in that back half, Rick needs to be reintroduced to the fans.
You think so?
Absolutely.
It's been a long, long time.
since Rick has been part of the show.
And I know that he gets mentioned,
and I know he's part of the universe,
and he's part of the whole family,
but if they're going to end the actual iconic Walking Dead
and then lead into the movies with Rick,
I mean,
you got to let people know what they're going to look forward to.
I have to bring him there.
I definitely agree with this.
and one thing I'm curious about
is if they're going to do
a big, big spoiler alert
for the end of the comics,
so if you want to turn your ears away now,
do so,
is who's going to get Rick's death
if they're going to do it at all?
I don't know.
At this point, who knows?
Because they change so much
even with deaths.
Yeah, I don't know.
Also, I'm wondering if they're going to give
Rick's death to freaking Negan
because Negan,
not part of the Commonwealth Arc at all.
No.
He left right after the...
And we know we have the Commonwealth Arc, right?
We saw that one of the promos
shows the ad for the Commonwealth,
which was really funny.
Welcome to the Commonwealth.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to...
Going back to your point on
just a little too much for some of these episodes,
I'm going to be pissed.
I think I've mentioned this reference before,
but I hope they take a more Star Wars
like approach to how they do it.
So, like, how they've done in the past
is like, let's say you have this one group
with Maggie and Negan and all that.
that sounds really cool. I want to see that.
But I also want to hear a lot about the Commonwealth,
you know, with Eugene and all them doing that stuff.
But the way they did in the past was they would develop an entire episode
just to one of the groups.
And then episode two would be the other group.
And I just, I hate that.
And yes, there is a lot going on.
Yeah, I can agree with that.
But I hope they, like, in Star Wars, like you'd show Han Solo.
And they'd do a little, cool little, you know, effect on the screen,
then you'd be back with Luke.
And then you'd be what I'm saying?
Basically, Empire Strikes.
back. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, they need to do something like that so that we get...
So the sweepers could just be a walker.
Yeah, right, right. Do that.
So show a walker and then we're done.
Do that. Yeah.
So yeah, I am super excited for season 11.
I hope it goes really well.
I don't know if Rick's going to show up.
If he doesn't, that somewhat sucks, but we'll see what happens.
So, you know what? Actually, I would think there would be a lot of
deaths. Are there like,
I'm just based off the comics and stuff,
like who do you see actually dying?
Who do I see actually dying?
Maybe they'll, I don't know, maybe they'll kill off.
I know this, I know there's the whole series thing,
but I've said this before.
What if the whole Carol Daryl series is just a ploy telling you,
okay, Daryl's not going to die?
And then it's just a psych thing going,
that show never existed.
We said it as a psych, and Daryl actually dies at the end.
It's a good point.
I could actually, because we're already.
That would be a good call.
Yeah, we're already seeing oversaturation, I think, with the show.
You know, like the World Beyond, I don't know, if there was no Walking Dead and, you know, it never existed and they just did a World Beyond show, I think more people would watch it.
It'd be more interesting.
But because it has to live up to the standard of even fear, but, you know, the regular show, like, to me, World Beyond just sucks.
Yeah.
But I don't have, I just, I just think there's too many shows at this point, but Carol and Daryl, that, okay, first off, that just sounds stupid.
That sounds like a troll.
Doesn't it?
That sounds like an internet troll.
Welcome to the Carole Dillian Dillow show.
It's a sitcom.
Yeah.
It's a sitcom.
It's not a horror drama.
It's Carol Adrel or sitcom.
It's like a Mary Tyler Moore thing or something.
I don't know.
That's an idea I've had.
I don't know if it's going to be true.
But based on the comics, there isn't a ton of deaths, but the deaths that happen are
really big.
Well, they talk about that first episode.
right where they talk about that someone doesn't make it, right?
Did they go down to this, you know, subway tunnel and car and someone dies?
So somebody's going to bite the bullet and it's got to be someone that's, you know.
I want impactful deaths.
Yes.
You know, not B character dies.
Oh, no.
Cool crap.
There goes the show.
No, no, I want like, I don't want this.
So I don't, everyone's going to hate me for this.
Yes, that's a great impactful death.
Yeah, meaningful.
Yes.
So like not the first half of this final season, maybe the second half of the season with three more episodes to go, Daryl dies.
You know, bravely doing something awesome.
Yes.
That would suck.
It would hurt.
Oh, yeah.
Damn it would be good.
Yes, it would.
I agree.
Something like that.
I hope if Carol dies, I mean, Daryl would go off the deep end.
Oh, oh, my gosh.
Oh, geez.
Daryl would just freak out and it would be the, that'd be a great, great character arc for him.
And I'd be fine with that.
I think I would be too.
During the first half of the season, because Carol's just a number.
at this point to me.
Oh.
I'm just like, she's...
Oh.
I'm with you.
She was one of my favorite characters.
I am with you.
I'm so sick of the back and forth between the Carol art.
Yeah.
If she's baking cookies, is she sitting by the fire or if she's killing people?
No, the Carol we love is not the cookie baker.
Yeah, right, all right.
All right.
Let's move on from that.
Remember, and we've said this before, remember the Carol that we love was during the Savior War.
Like, remember she was up in the ceiling of her.
She was an AK down, crap like that, but, oh, come on, something like that again.
I get a ton of people had problems with the Savior War arc.
I loved it personally, but we could all agree that scene in the warehouse where she's just
slaughtering saviors.
Awesome.
Awesome.
Awesome.
Now, we also have the Reapers showing up for this season because it talks about, I think
that's episode three, right, where they talked about hunted, and Maggie's mission team
gets separated and hunted by the Reapers.
Carolyn, Rosita, Magna, and Kelly attempt to catch horses for Alexandria.
So many grids.
Judith, RJ, and Herschel and Gracie cope with their parents going away.
So we've got to deal with the little whiny kids.
Oh, no.
Jason, you'll love that episode because it has Rosita and Magna in it.
On screen together.
Yeah.
Is there some mud involved?
A little wrestling?
Yeah, they're out catching horses.
Oh, that's what we're calling it now.
That's what I'm talking about right there.
Catching horses.
Catching horses.
You call it whatever you want, babe.
I wish I was right in those descriptions.
Rosita and Magnus stumble upon a tub of mud as they both vibe for supremacy within that tub of mud.
And can't believe the size of the horses.
I'm curious about the whole Reaper thing, honestly.
I'm curious about Maggie's group that she ran across.
What did you say, Max?
Because I'm still thinking about the size of horses, to be honest with you.
Why am I not surprised?
But I said, I'm curious about the Reapers because we don't really know what they know.
No, we don't know anything about them.
We just know they're good at fighting and one committed suicide.
And that's it.
Right.
And in the next episode, it talks about Daryl and Dog getting captured by the Reapers.
So maybe the dog dies.
there. Oh, is dog going to die? I don't know.
Doug might be the last thing standing
for the show. I got to confess
something. I have zero curiosity.
Absolutely, let me add it up in my brain.
Yep, nope. Zero curiosity for the
Reapers. I know.
I don't care. Unless you tie
them into the main groups,
I don't give a crap about the Reapers.
I'm sorry. I don't. I mean, we're
already, we're headed
into the Commonwealth, which
we're, you know, I want to see
where we're at with that. Yep. And
the, you know, where we've grown with this Commonwealth,
because during all this time that Rick and our group have really been struggling,
these people have been putting a world back together.
So it's going to be interesting to see.
And they've got, you know, the people who are surviving coming into the Commonwealth
are the people who have struggled and are really either really bad people
or good people that had to do bad things.
I mean, our people obviously are, you know, good people that had to do bad things.
That's what makes them our people, right?
Right.
So it's interesting to see how Commonwealth, you know, breaks that up and brings them in and distributes the people.
It'll be fascinating.
I hope they do that.
I'm also really curious on, since we have the whole CRM thing, who we know as of now is basically the biggest community we've ever had.
Right.
And the Commonwealth being the biggest community in the comics, if they're going with that, these two mega communities, there is no way that they haven't interacted with each other.
Right.
Well, see, and that's the stuff that I think they're missing by, again, I'm just speculating, but adding in these little groups like the Reapers, like, again, if they don't tie into either the Commonwealth or CRM, what the hell is the point?
Right.
You know, you're literally just throwing like something in there to show conflict, you know,
so that everyone's engaged and watches it, I guess.
But it's kind of a walking dead meme at this point.
Which group are we going to get, you know, get thrown up against this time?
Right.
Oh my God.
And we're far enough along that Daryl and Dog get captured by this group.
Okay.
I mean, okay.
Is something bad going to happen?
Are they going to torture Daryl for a day?
no and if they are okay and then maybe dog gets cut darrell kills a few people and gets out of there
oh my gosh i just i just thought of the perfect way they they could torture him hey we found we were
exploring this old warehouse and we found this cd you might want to hear it i hit it annoys us so much
it's a freaking easy street and darrell just loses it we don't want that we're on easy street
So I saw where, and I teased this on chewing the fat, so I've got to mention it now,
but I saw where we have the, they did a survey on the best cities that would survive a zombie apocalypse.
Yeah.
And I was looking at the list.
The bottom of the list for the worst cities for surviving a zombie apocalypse,
one, two, three are here in Texas.
The bottom of the list?
The bottom list.
Worst cities for surviving a zombie apocalypse are here in Texas.
Brownsville, Texas, 191 out of the top 200.
Brownsville, Texas, Mesquite, Texas, and Laredo, Texas.
Laredo, Texas is 200.
Bottom of the list.
Worst city for surviving a zombie apocalypse.
What?
Some would say, having been to a great city like Mesquite,
that it would be okay that it didn't survive.
That's fine.
No problem. Don't worry about it.
Well, I can see why Mesquite would be bad because it's within the DFW Metroplex.
And so I don't think any city is going to fare well in the zombie apocalypse.
But La Rade, Brownsville?
Yeah.
That's quite out there.
Those boys know how to take care of themselves down there.
I would think so, too.
So what's at the top of the list?
Okay, top of the list.
Best cities for surviving a zombie apocalypse.
Can I just guess first what I would say?
Absolutely.
At number 10, we'll do the countdown.
I would say my, the best one.
Oh, so we're starting number 10.
So you can be the best city.
This is my best cities.
Okay, so they would be...
Number one.
The number one city to survive a zombie apocalypse on talking, walking dead.
This is a survey now done by...
I've got to find out who it's done.
You go ahead and figure out your cities, okay?
So I can't think of an actual...
So I'm not going to...
It wouldn't be any city.
I'm going to say small town West Virginia.
There'd be a lot of them would be the best place to survive as a zombie apocalypse.
Is West Virginia even in the top town?
Oh, it better be.
No.
It is not.
Really?
Okay.
Small town West Virginia, small town, Tennessee, small town Kentucky, small town Texas.
Wow.
You are so dumb.
Places like that.
You are dumb.
Let me tell you that.
So the famed philosopher, writer, I think his name was Hank Williams Jr.
said we can skin a buck and run a trout line.
Yes, we can.
Country boy can survive.
That's right.
That's for the people that are surviving the zombie apocalypse.
What's number one, dad?
I love that song so much.
I do too.
I cannot not listen to that song when I hear it.
There's no doubt I love that song.
So the number one city, the 2021 best city for surviving a zombie apocalypse,
according to this survey.
Tennessee or Texas?
Huntington Beach, California.
California.
Oh my God.
What?
Who wrote this?
Huntington Beach, California.
Come on down.
Who wrote this?
Joe Biden?
Did he compile this?
Huntington Beach.
That's like within the Schmorgasborg of Los Angeles.
I know.
Has it no one watched fear.
Yeah.
Right.
They would be the first to go.
They don't know how to survive.
So this was a survey done by
by Law and Love.
I don't know why that's a problem,
but I'm just saying that it's a survey done by them.
It's a, they dug data,
they dug through data graveyard
to see 23 indicators of zombie preparedness
from the share of living population and good health
to the share of available homes with basements
to hunting gear access.
So there you have it.
That's how they ranked.
Hunting, so California has access to hunting gear
there on the beach.
Northern California, yeah.
Number, okay, so
and here's another one that, no way.
There's two, right to row with the same neck of the woods.
The bottom, number nine, number 10.
Number nine, number 10.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Hollywood, Florida.
What?
No way.
I'll give that over Huntington Beach,
I'll get Florida over.
Yeah.
So I guess,
Speaking, do we want to talk about what's new on fear?
No.
Okay, so they have one, two, three cities in Washington, which seems, and I can maybe believe that.
Yeah, it does.
Washington, the place where 75% of the people have blue hair.
The state of Washington?
The state of Washington?
Yeah.
Do they really?
Yeah, that's like crazy.
But we got rid of a bunch of them in the nursing homes over COVID.
Oh, that's true.
That's true.
That's true.
That's true.
That's true.
Well, so like the mountainous area in Washington, I can see that.
Bellevue, Washington, Vancouver, Washington.
That's right up at the border, right?
That's up there.
Seattle, Washington.
Yeah, that's all North Europe.
Maybe, I guess.
I don't know.
Seattle, Washington's on that?
Yeah.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No.
Apparently, they didn't, you weren't part of this survey.
Those aren't survivalists.
I mean, those are like CEOs that started Starbucks and Amazon live up in Seattle.
Right.
Is Vegas there?
Because if Vegas is there, they need to watch the documentary Army of the Dead.
Yeah, no kidding.
No, you've got Alexandria, Virginia,
St. Paul, Minnesota, and then Fort Collins, Colorado.
They're the only cities that I haven't met.
And Fort Collins.
How much you want to bet Alexandria is only?
only there because of dead.
That's possible, yeah.
And did I hear you,
did I hear you do some kind of bad-mouthing of Army of the Dead?
Yeah, wasn't it on this podcast?
Or was it were you just talking to the...
It was on this podcast.
Was it really on this podcast?
Yes, it was.
You are going to piss me off against that.
Stupidest show ever seen a while?
That show is awesome.
It's a movie.
That movie is awesome.
Anyway, talking walking out, I won't fight you again.
That's fine.
You're wrong.
So talking Walking Dead, thank you so much for listening.
So we have Walking Dead the final season.
I actually, I am excited.
I find myself really excited that we are getting a new season.
And it's the end.
It's the end season.
It's the last one.
Crazy.
I know.
I know.
Like, I know.
I know we're not near the end because we have like another year or two because it's an extra long season.
But it's still.
weird saying this is the last season of the walking dead i know i know so uh we will join you on
the 23rd uh with a recap of the very first episode of uh walking dead as we returned to season
11 and uh i'm looking forward to it i can't wait so thanks for listening to talking walking dead
