Season two. Episodes two, three, and four. The Walking Dead universe Daryl, the book of Carol.
The show description is Daryl's journey across a broken but resilient France, as he hopes to find a way back home.
The episodes, Moulon Rouge, La Invisible, and La Paradis Porto. I know, my French is sad.
Now, we're going to plow through them all, though, and we're going to cover in-depth, and then we're going to look ahead on this episode of
Talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it.
Myself, Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher.
Finally, back together after a couple of weeks of missing each other.
I miss both of you so much in my heart.
Welcome to Talking Walking Dead.
Okay, so, Darrell, Book of Carol, we're four episodes in.
We are behind by three.
So we only have two left.
I mean, if we're counting, we only have a single.
episodes of the book of Carol.
So they've made up some ground for sure since we last talked after episode one when Carol
left for France with Ash Air.
And that's where we picked up in episode two, you know, as the plane landed in Greenland,
which is beautiful this time of year, I hear.
And it was there as well.
and that was awesome anyway jason and maximus good to have you along we're back yes we are and uh the episode
moulon rouge the episode two um wait wait wait wait how can we how are we expected to do this
okay i don't know that episode four i don't know i don't know i how are we expected to go back i don't
I'm just trying to all through.
I know.
I'm just trying to jump through.
There were some highlights in episode two
that, you know, the landing in Greenland,
we ran across the climate changers.
I'm already booking my trip to Greenland.
I know.
I know.
I'm like, I'm there.
We had the, we had the Moss Walkers in Greenland,
the field Moss Walkers, which was awesome.
We got those.
We had.
tried to kidnap him.
Yeah, we had the climate changers.
Need a little bit of this out there on Greenland.
It's been too long.
We need a baby, and Ash Air is the one that's taken care of a little bit of us for us.
Okay, that's what's happening.
Which is funny, because I really didn't see that coming at first, because I saw the two of them.
And they clearly looked like they were like a thing.
And I was like, oh, okay, you know, whatever.
That's what's happening.
I mean, even if they were a thing, I mean, we still have to have a little artificial.
I don't know.
People in terms of world.
Artificial?
You know,
it might not think that is needed,
but it is needed.
In the words of Jeff Goldblum,
life finds a way.
Oh my God.
Or it makes itself find a way.
Trying to kill Carol in Greenland
than trying to kidnap ash.
It was a good death in Greenland
with the flare gun.
That was one of the climate changes burned up.
That was awesome.
That was awesome.
And of course,
you know,
then we had the
Jesus, I'm sorry,
Laurent,
kidnapped falsely.
Well, he was and wasn't,
he didn't leave.
No, he didn't leave. He didn't leave the nest.
It just appeared like he left the nest,
which got Darrell and his crew out of there.
Was that episode two?
Yes, yes.
I know.
I know.
And because they wanted them gone,
so, because they were going to, the plan was
to test Jesus.
and make sure that he was the savior.
I'm sorry, Laurent,
that he was the savior.
They were going to have him bit by a walker.
And just fortunate for them,
the nun,
the black girl,
you know,
happened to have a tumble off one of the railings
at the castle and died,
which I thought she smashed her head.
So she still was able to turn it to a walker.
It looked more like she broke her neck
than snapped her head.
A lot of blood, though, for just breaking the neck.
I will say that Daryl is kind of, I guess it's kind of like a callback to previous original Walking Dead episodes where they're not being very shy with who they kill.
No, they are.
No, no, no, no.
Normally she would be protected that nun chick.
I thought she fell off the railing, snapped their neck.
Okay, that's the walker we're using.
Yeah.
No doubt about it.
Especially in the later episode.
And then, you know, Carol has, then in episode two, Carol ends up in France because they, you know, duct-taped Ash Air together and got enough fuel and just, you know, popped into France right there just outside of Paris. No problem. It's a few hours away.
I looked, I specifically looked up what the length of time is between a flight from Greenland to France, eight and a half hours.
So that should be, that's fine.
That's eight and a half hours on, I don't know,
United, not Ash Air.
Okay, so maybe then.
Yeah, right.
Okay.
I got to tell you, like, Amelia Earhart was a wuss.
That's so easy to do this stuff.
Thank you.
You just hop off Greenland and there we go.
Oh, there's Paris.
Okay.
Learn to fly a couple of months before, you know what I mean?
Just take off both of Greenland.
Quick little puddle jump.
Go to France.
Oh, look.
There's a, looks like,
landing strip there.
It's a racetrack.
It's a race track.
Ash, Eric, good eye.
You couldn't see that yourself.
You couldn't see that yourself.
What's what we're talking about?
Everything else has grown up over except for that strip right
there perfectly.
It's a race track.
What are you talking about?
It's a race track.
I know, I got it.
And no one sees them land.
They're just outside of Paris.
Controlled by Jeanette and her crew or the other people.
No one sees them land.
Okay.
All right.
I'm in.
I'm still in.
I'm still in.
It's okay.
By the way,
I'm just saying,
I think we all can agree on this.
All of these episodes were better than the first episode.
Oh,
yeah.
And none of it had been bad.
Even the person I didn't think was done it.
It was just the only thing that pissed me off
was the whole Carol out-of-character thing.
That was it.
It's a web of lies that we keep going.
It is her web of lies.
Although, you know, when she finally,
you know, when you jump to
episode three.
Then we get the flashback with
Jeanette, the janitor at the
Lou, which was pretty cool
because that's at the beginning of
the end, the beginning of dead.
You know, the Walking Dead world. I love those
flashbacks. Yes, they're great. They're always
great. I do too. They've done a really good
job on Daryl, both
seasons. The flashbacks to the
beginning of the end have been really good.
No question. Yeah.
But I will say her flashback,
as cool as
it was to see Paris fall to the
walkers. I'm not getting
the whole that's what turned you into
some maniacal crazy badass.
I don't know. Maybe it's just me.
A lot more people have had
worse things happen to them.
She was the second in command
of the janitors.
I don't know what world you're living in, but when you're
second in command of the janitors.
You got a very
specific set of skills.
that you can just pull out.
Thank you.
Right?
Watch as her husband die out like the Lube and the thing.
Just waiting.
That's right.
And boom, there it happened.
You're in action.
And she has access to all the history.
And, you know, they're at the loom.
And so she is in charge.
It's just the way it works.
Okay.
Okay, I'm just going to say it.
She's probably the worst.
She's right up there with Metro Negan.
I don't know.
No, I disagree.
I disagree with that too.
I like Jeanette as well.
How?
What is there to like?
Okay, you're pissing me off.
I like, I like Jeanette.
I do.
I can't believe you don't like Janelle.
She is not Metro Negan.
Sorry.
You see Janelle lined up with all the bad guys of Walking Dead universe.
Which one are you the most scared of?
And which one do you like?
I'm scared of Janelle because her name isn't that.
So why don't you solve by real name?
It doesn't even matter what her name is.
She's like the first non-stant.
scary bad guy. I disagree.
I disagree with that.
Dad was genuinely, okay.
So this is a spoiler.
I'm sorry for episode four.
We have not to do it yet.
Raise some headaches at you.
No.
No, when she knows how to handle that mop handle.
Oh, for the way.
So let me start with me.
Even Asian priest dudes better with a mop handle than she is.
Come on.
I like her, though.
I'm sorry, I do.
I like her.
I like her character.
And I was sorry.
I know we're going to jump ahead here, but I was sorry to see her die.
He was genuinely complaining.
He was like, what?
She's going to kill her off.
She was a good character to me.
I mean, like you said, no one is safe, though.
We killed up, you know, and we killed.
Oh, God.
Okay.
So we're moving to episode four?
Jumping ahead real quick because, you know, like you said, we're, you know, no one's safe.
I mean, we killed.
They killed Isabelle.
Yeah, I did not.
they would kill Elizabeth.
I did not.
I didn't see that coming either.
I was shocked.
And Jesus'
is mom-ish.
Daryl's girlfriend.
Yeah, Daryl, I mean, of course,
but of course,
should have seen it coming
because as soon as Daryl starts,
you know, actually loving someone,
they got to do it.
Yeah, that's sign their own death warrant.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was like,
I was watching this,
and I was like,
is this the season finale?
It's got to be, right?
No.
There's no way.
All this is happening
in just a rammed,
random episode.
Yeah, well, that's what I'm saying.
There's six episodes, so, I mean, we're just,
jamming content in.
Holy crap.
And it's been working.
So she was always set up to be the mini boss.
She was never set up or designed to be the main bad guy.
What, Jeanette?
Asian Priest is the big guy.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, Asian Priest.
She was always the mini boss, even though she appeared to be the big bad guy.
She was not.
I knew, I thought it was going to be the opposite.
I thought Asian Priest was going to be mini boss.
And Jeanette would be big boss.
Same.
Yeah.
Same.
Yeah.
That's what I thought too.
And then at the very end, we, we find out from the second in command janitor that's now the first in command.
She was union boss, janitor.
His union boss.
She was, you know what to mess with the union bosses, man?
No way.
Why didn't they just pick like the union of like of those guys that drive the ice cream trucks around?
And they're like all together and they're plotting.
And they're like, the apocalypse happens.
And they're like, you know, eff it.
We're going to run this entire show going forward.
That's the mob, man.
You don't want to mess with the mob.
The mob is even in the janitor's union in France, man.
Oh, God.
Bubbles Betty is now in charge.
Okay.
Whatever.
I don't care.
It was great.
So amazingly, of course, then Carol just wanders into France and to Paris.
and uh...
Finds the truck
oh hey there's a bad guy soldier
and we'll just cut a hole in the grain
and follow them where they're going
and oh there hey there's now I'm involved with them
and I'm meeting Jeanette
okay so yeah I got you
so as fortuitous as that entire thing was
like Carol's entire investigation whatever
as she's Scooby doing around to find
Darrell it was kind of cool just to see her
that's her
That was great.
That's her element.
It's, yeah, it's for everything is by luck, but oh well.
I still like seeing her do her thing.
I know.
And then, you know, she's delivering, you know, stew to the masses, to the armies, and runs into the torture guy.
Yeah, the other, the soldier from season one that let Daryl go.
Yeah, and she's got a story for every single one of them, which she was kind of cracking me up.
I know.
Like the web of lies.
Her web of lies to Jeanette, man.
It was awesome.
Everything was true.
It was all truthful up until the end.
I'm here to kill Darrell.
Jeanette's Janelle, right?
Jeanette is Jeanette, okay?
Just the person, I don't know what your problem is,
but you're going to be getting to piss me off all over again.
I got you.
I got it.
Okay. All right.
And then Daryl is now in, Daryl's come back to the nest to rescue Jesus, Lauren.
And he ends up in toilet jail.
Because they drugged Laurent.
He was like out of it.
They bring out that, they have the whole ceremony set up.
And the head guy, you know, the priest, the preacher man did not want to kill Daryl.
No, he was.
He sent them away.
He wasn't the one that made that call.
And the number two girl under preacher man there at the nest said, you know, I, I, I,
told them just to get rid of him, you know, changed the plans.
And so while he agreed to it after that, which I guess don't know, there's much he could have done,
but that really wasn't his call.
You know, he didn't call for that.
He called to just get them out of there while we do the test, and then I'll deal with Daryl and his crew.
It'll be, and it'll be different because, well, in his eyes,
Laurent would have already proven his.
Point.
Jesushood.
and Darrell could go away now.
We'll find you a ship and get out of here.
But that obviously never happened.
And, I mean, there's no way
Daryl's going down from these dangleberries
as they're out looking for Laurent
when they realize that the kid is not there
and he's back at the nest.
And then we get to
Elizabeth and Daryl in toilet jail
as they fall more deeply in love,
holding hands.
Or skipping around.
over the kiss, huh?
Skipped.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
That's right.
Outside.
Yeah, outside as they waited for the sunrise to go to the nass or the tide to come down.
Might as well, we got rid of the black guy.
He's off making a fire.
I will take care of a little business with you.
That must, that was like, we should have known that was the death warrant because it's
Daryl.
He never gets with people.
Right.
The business did not happen, which should tell you everything you need to know about the
apocalypse.
Like if you've been trying to hook up with that one hot nun, you do it immediately.
once you get that green light.
Because you don't, there might not be a tomorrow.
No, there may not be a tomorrow.
You have to take care of it right there.
I know you have to.
That's a great point.
Right.
With black man there or not, man.
I was sorry.
And then he died.
No, he didn't.
No, he didn't.
He didn't die.
He escorted to Loran.
He was what, he took them, they found the old people.
They sent, the old people sent him, him and Laurent away with a car.
And then Daryl and Carol and Carol found the old.
people. Okay, so...
Old man with gray beard is life.
All right, good. Because I thought,
because there for a while I thought he was
going to die. That's where they, that's
where they were, they had them out, you know,
chasing ghosts after Loran, which I know he didn't die there,
but I thought he died after that. No.
No. Yeah. Well, good. Well, good.
He's all together. He's taking them to their friends in Paris.
Right. Whatever those are. Well, those are the people
that his buddies down in the
in the, uh, in the catacons.
Yeah, the tunnels.
So are they also part of this religious sect?
They were, and then a good chunk of them went to the nest,
but I think there's still a lot of people still living in Paris and the catacombs.
So I wonder if they would still be loyal to Asian priest.
Maybe.
Maybe, and then I did enjoy Carol going to the testing castle, though.
All the experiments.
I know that she was there with Janad, and that's where.
Are they mad?
I know Carol really got off on Jeanette making that soldier eat the stew off the floor.
That was awesome.
That was awesome.
Can you?
I'm so sure.
Don't even start with me.
Homeboy was like one of those like luchadero wrestlers like that side.
And this like four foot nine janitor chick tells him.
And he's going to be.
And he's like, yeah, I'm freaked out.
To be fair.
She's the leader.
She's the ruler. You don't want to mess with her. What are we even talking about?
And to be fair, I'm guessing if he decided, no, I'm standing up. He's getting shot.
Yeah, he knows that they're testing. He goes to the testing land. I mean, he's dead. He wants to stay alive.
She can wield a wicked pine soul bottle, and it is terrifying.
Jason, you should know this better than anybody. Doesn't bullet beat muscle?
from Janelle
I don't
I think that like
four or five muscle dudes would be like
no this is not
she's got the soldiers around her
she's the one of charge bro
this is not a dude with a bat
with the barbed wire around the bat
where everyone's terrified
it is though
it is
it is though
I can't believe
you would be dead
okay
I'll say that right now.
I would not put up that.
If I was working for her, I would tell her he's dead.
I got this.
I got this for you, Judet.
Don't you worry about it.
That's it.
Oh, my gosh.
And then, I don't know.
I don't know where we're at.
Now you pissed me off again.
It's about third time already.
We've been jumping all over the place.
But like, okay.
So you've got to with this episode.
Okay, we have Isabelle in the,
basically the addict with preacher man.
and she's basically telling him,
I'm not going to do what you want.
And then she slices him when they attack.
Oh, yeah, with the drain.
With the drain top, yeah.
And that was good.
That's when she got stabbed.
And then she got stabbed.
That's what the preacher man stabbed?
And I was like, what?
Yeah.
Dad thought she was going to live.
I did.
I did think she was going to live at that point.
Because she was a strong character for the show,
even though, you know,
because you could still let her live and not go with Daryl.
You know what I mean?
Or at least, at least,
Daryl could have left her or not found her.
Carol could have left her and then gone back and she not be there.
So they had to get out of there.
So that if you wanted to bring her back in another season or later on in the show,
you could say that she lived instead of killing her off.
Daryl would still believe that she died in the battle at the nest, right?
I mean, I don't know, but I mean, it doesn't matter because they killed her off.
She died in Daryl's arms.
And he would have stabbed her in the head.
They just didn't show that.
But he obviously would have done that.
I know.
I was waiting for that.
Me too.
Or maybe even he or couldn't and Carol would have to.
But that had to have happened, right?
The one thing that's really...
Assuming that would have happened.
Yeah.
It's cool seeing Daryl like play with, like using the knives, using his chain and ball, like the mace.
Like, it's all...
It's so cool.
Oh, yeah.
leveled up for that fight.
That was classic Darrell.
And I do like, I do like the,
uh, the, uh,
Walker juice that turns,
turns you into a super walker.
Mm-hmm.
That's, I mean, that,
again,
Jeanette, genius.
Okay, she's the one that's in charge,
got all the scientists working on it.
I don't know what your problem is,
man, but she has got it all.
In charge not anymore, though.
And so I would kill her up.
I guess that was what I,
Ajax, whatever they could find
in the closet, you know, the janitor closet.
it puts me ajax into the neck
of the Walker I mean
you think you gotta use I mean they compared them to
Nazis Hitler wasn't a big dude
and he they compared them to
Nazis in the show so Hitler wasn't a big dude
and plus he was an artist so
yeah
but this is Janelle the janitor
that's just set up
as a meme right they like
Ginele the janitor
spray and wash juice and you're good
okay
that's good I did like the running
walkers though I did they were awesome oh yeah
like all the serums
then there's a black serum which we'll talk about
later right
and that's not
so they get ready to go to
the nest and we know that
we know they're gonna she's gonna
kill all these people and turn them into
you know her soldier walkers
and Carol is in that group
you know kind of double crosses
her and says you know you're gonna get what
you want to kill Darrell but just not the
way you thought so she's going to kill her
and give her Walker juice
and then, you know, she's going to go as a soldier
running into the nest.
So I'm okay with how she lived,
you know, in the mass shooting
of shooting all those people
before they give them the Walker juice.
But she got stabbed.
I mean, I know she pulled it right out,
but they did shoot her with the juice.
It's a different juice than what we saw Jeanette get shot with
because if you look at the vials,
The vial of juice that the scientist was stabbing.
Okay, Mr. Scientist.
I'll look at the vial.
Just look at the show.
Okay.
All right, go ahead.
It still should have been toxic, though.
It was bright green, whereas the one that shot Jenei was like dark.
Right.
I understand.
No, I understand that it's probably a different serum.
I get it.
One is Ajax.
The other is just a Lysol blend.
Anyway, but I get that.
But now I'm turning into Jason now.
I'm making fun of it.
Yeah.
I can't stop making fun of her for being the janitor.
Janelle, the janitor.
Sounds scary.
Oh, my God.
It's scary.
If you call her Janelle, a little more freaking...
She's the boss lady, all right?
Jeanette, is you ever...
Boom, it's scary.
Oh, my God.
Sleep ticking me off.
that sounds like one of those
Halloween costumes that you find in spirit
you know it's like what it's already pre-done
and it's like label
speaking of that you know we have talked how many
let's pause for just a moment
I wanted to get this in did you see
where how many times
I got to pause how many times
on the show have we talked about
how they should have walking dead Halloween outfits
I mean thousands millions of people across America
dressed up like walkers and different characters
Max even dressed up as Negan for a Halloween a few years ago, right?
I mean, and Jeffrey D. Morgan actually liked my post with Max as Negan.
It was awesome.
But the thing is, we've talked about it forever.
Well, I just saw a post where AMC is now launching this exclusive sale of 30 authentic Walker costumes for Halloween.
And I'm like, where the hell have you been?
Like, why haven't you done this before?
And you finally, if you listen to every episode of Talking Walking Dead,
and now you think, well, that's probably a pretty good idea.
We probably should have done that.
There isn't a lot of, like, every Walking Dead costume I usually see is usually homemade.
You never see any, like, sold ones at the store.
You don't see, like, a Rick costume or a Daryl costume.
That's millions of dollars they get ahead over the past how many years, decade?
That sure, man.
A lot. A lot.
So, anyway, so if Carol gets shot, I guess maybe it doesn't go all the way.
way through to her leather jacket in time because she pulls it out. It was just kind of,
all right, you got, I'm still in. It's Carol Luck. It's Carol Luck. They still had the guy
strapped in the back of the SUV. The ATV. Yeah, the ATV. She gets to drive and that's going to lead
the walkers into the nest, which was kind of kind of interesting. And Jeanette, again,
made a great point as the leader, talking about how the, uh, the walk us, one thing,
that the walkers do is find the living.
And so, I mean, she's used them to find the living.
I love that.
That's why she's the boss and the leader, okay?
That's right.
Not a word, not a word.
I could have, I let it go.
Not a word.
So I will say they, a great scene is when,
the guy is running from the walker
and he runs into the jail cell
into the toilet jail cell
there where Darrell is and locks
himself behind the
bars and then there's
Darrell and he turns around with a hand full of keys
and looks at Darrell and not a word was said
Darrell just ran his hand that's
yeah it was awesome
it was about to go down
yeah he was just like let me out
yeah he had his head down it was in the dark
and just lifted his arm up like
let the dog on his leash.
Yeah, that was really awesome.
And they did.
And they took care of it.
And they,
that's where we get the Daryl Carroll
Reunion.
Which Norman Reuters wrote.
In the hollows of the nest.
Which I thought was,
I don't know.
I don't know.
Everybody,
everybody really loved it and thought that it was
this great reunion.
And it was okay.
I just,
I don't know,
I don't know what I expected or how,
I would have done it differently, but I think I would have.
Really?
Okay.
I was exactly the opposite because I thought it was kind of meamy at that point, and I was like, okay, whatever.
It's been the whole point of the whole show, get them back together.
But I think it was the way Norman Reattis first responded that kind of got me.
You know, he stopped, teared up, dropped all of his weapons.
I don't know.
I just thought he, I think that if it just would have been Carol and some other random actor would have been really bad.
But Norman Reed is
It's sold it
Literally sold that
Agreed
I just I feel like I feel like I would
At that point
I mean even maybe just
All right
Even if we just hear
I know that they wanted to have it silent
Because it was just them
Hugging each other and crying
That they're back together with each other
But I would have liked to have heard
You know
What are you doing here?
You know what I mean
It was just something that was just like
It was the hug and the tears
And everything were like
Well yeah
I know, we're filing back together again, but what are you doing here?
I mean, it was just assumed that she would, you know, grab a ticket on Ash Air and come to Paris?
I don't know.
I think one of the best scenes, too, is when they go into the kid, well, when Daryl and Carol go into the cave looking for Laurent, and they've left already.
And Carol sees the side of Daryl.
She did never see him, like, laser focus on, I have to find him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, when they hunt for Jesus.
Yeah, and she's just like, what's going on with you?
Like, I have to find him.
Yeah, no question.
It was, and again, it was fine.
It was great.
It was fine.
And they had, it was a, it was a great reunion piece.
And they're all killing walkers.
And I get that.
But, I don't know.
I just, I don't know.
Yeah, no, I, I get it.
Yeah, I don't really know how he would be expected.
I don't know.
I don't know how I would have done it differently.
And they certainly didn't ask.
I mean, they could email me, too.
the fat at the business.com.
It definitely wasn't.
It wasn't a bad reunion at all.
No, it wasn't.
It wasn't done badly.
And that's what, I mean, we saw an interview with Darrell and he talked about how he thought it came up with the idea.
And they just, you know, expounded on it, you know, a thousand percent.
But so, you know, yeah, that's fine.
That's fine.
We're back together.
We have to, we have to find.
We have to find his girl.
Because I still got a little business to take care of the girl.
Well, not yet.
He doesn't know that yet.
No, I was, well, I guess so, but he doesn't know that yet.
So, I mean, he's still got to find her because Carol's, you know,
and I know that Carol was saving some, uh, yeah, people,
some of the regular people at the nest.
I just found interesting that this, you know, she kills the guy that's going to kill.
It's a walker.
Well, uh, I don't know.
I don't know.
It's fine.
It's fine.
It's all, it's all fine.
It's all fine.
Either way, though, like, Jason was right, though, on the shock of how many people they've killed even so far.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yeah.
It's crazy.
Yeah, I mean, I really like it.
I think that means that.
I mean, you know you're not going to lose two people.
There's not going to die.
Period.
Because you're always thinking, how are they getting out of this?
That's the, I mean, that's what's making you interested still in these characters because we're with them.
and we want to know how they're going to get out of this.
So they need to make that as real as possible.
Well, it's borderline now three people are almost guaranteed, protected,
which is kind of dangerous for the show.
That might actually be great if they killed off Laurent, Laurent, Laurent.
How would you say that name?
I don't think they'd kill him off.
I don't think that's the thing.
That's my problem.
Yeah.
But then again, we didn't think they'd kill Isabel off either.
no no it's surprising but but but now it's like the entire mission is just to get him and i don't know
unless that was the next kiss of death is when uh darrell said you know he's coming home with us right
and she was like i know unless that unless he just kind of and so when they get back if they get
back okay so i'll ask that question oh wait this scene i'll ask i'll ask that question a little bit
because that jumps ahead to the next
coming ahead episodes
because I did like the
the Walker driveway
going into the ranch house.
Into the farm, yeah.
Going into the farm, that was kind of cute.
Who came back, by the way?
The walkers out of that.
Who came back, by the way?
Remember that line?
When Darrell asked, by the way, you said over the radio,
who came back?
Oh, yes.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my God.
No.
The departed was that.
Oh, my God.
Seriously?
That was not a person.
That was a...
I was like, shut up.
All this at the same time.
I mean, you and I just did it at the same time again.
Shut off.
Yeah.
And I remember, you know what my first thought was after she said that?
My first thought was, oh, so they're doing it like that.
Which what they're doing in my head, and I bet you this is what went through their minds,
if people haven't seen the ones who live, they don't want to be spoiled.
So we're just going to ignore it.
instead of, yeah, Rick's back.
Oh, that, I mean, come on.
That's my, that's my theory and I'm sticking.
No, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
As a writer, Jason, I think you understand.
I mean, even if that's accurate,
you got to know that you're pissing people off with that.
You're not being cute.
You're not like saving people that might be spoiled.
You're pissing people the F off.
Yes.
That's all this is happening.
It's just a slap in our faces.
Like, why do it?
Like, Rick's back.
You're walking, you're wandering down the country road chatting.
You're finally back together again.
Who came back?
Well, it's not really a person.
I just had a feeling.
It's a thing.
Instead of, oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, the man you consider a brother is back.
Okay.
That was terrible.
They should have just, if there was that,
if it was because they didn't want to spoil people, I hadn't seen that.
It was, they should, they should have either, they should have just ignored it.
Just pretended it didn't even happen.
And that would have been perfectly fine.
we don't get to that question there.
We haven't thought about that yet because we're still in France and we're worried about getting out of it.
We don't cover that ground.
Yeah.
Yes.
It would have been much better to just don't cover the ground that to say, oh, wasn't a person who's a feeling.
Shut up.
Shut up.
So, Max, what is the timeline now?
So I think, I do think this takes place after the ones who live.
That's my guess because we all assume.
I think so, because we all assumed that when Daryl got that radio call when he was out,
but it was breaking up and she said someone came back, but we couldn't hear.
We all assumed it was Rick because we were like, okay, we're waiting for the ones who live.
Right.
That came out.
So my guess is, so we know fear is caught up.
Morgan's looking for Rick somewhere and we don't know where that's going to fuck.
Remember fear ended with Morgan looking for Rick.
Alicia and everybody else from fear are going into California
That better not be a show
That better that shouldn't be a show
Anyway what I was saying
I think we
I think this takes place after the ones who live
And we're I think we're this is we're caught up
Except for Dead City
I think Dead City and Darrell might be happening at the same time
And Dead City is summer of next year
Right
Right
that's so weird so she just mentions Judith
with Darrell with that little doll
doesn't mention his best friend in the whole wide world
who is her father and that that's because that timeline
well I mean isn't that the entire reason
Darrell left that could have happened
that could have happened before Rick came back
no that's what we're discussing I think it take
I think this takes place after disgusting that's what we're in the middle
of the show don't tell me what we're
I think we I think this takes place after that
I think she's just not telling him
and maybe we'll get a review later like, hey, I lied about that.
No, Rick's back.
Like, that, you know what?
That would be even more stupid.
No, that's going to be the ending.
They're going to, him, Laurent, Ash, and Carol are going to be in the plane flying back to the U.S.
and she tells him Rick's back end of season two.
That's my prediction.
If she's holding on to that information, for what purpose.
Yeah, what, why would, okay, let's jump ahead to that, okay?
Because that was my question originally that I said I would wait until we talk about.
you know, what's coming up in the future.
We have two episodes left.
We, she's out.
This has happened, I guess, within a two-week period because she said she would be back,
you know, whether she's, you believe her or not, to find,
which I found amazing that Ash would actually agree to stay there at the racetrack
with his hidden plane and I just hang out there for a couple of weeks, you know,
not knowing anyone, nobody there.
I'll just there. I'll have to duct tape
some of my plane and try to find some gas.
I'll just do it on my own. You go ahead
and see if you can find your daughter.
I mean, I don't quite...
Don't worry about me. I'll spread
out finding gas over 14 months.
Right, I know. I know. I know that's where we're at.
So, I mean, A, is Ash still alive
when they returned to the racetrack airport?
We saw him in the preview of the next episode,
but I don't know where that is.
Okay.
I mean, I just, I don't know, because now we have,
we have the preacher man and the second in charge.
We have to talk about the farm scene, which you love,
you love the old couple in the farm.
I did, and I love the town.
I love the walk into town to find the car parts
as we went through the neighborhood of the old people
who have just died and they're still living in their yards.
That was funny.
That was funny.
They said they actually specifically made the Walker makeup not look like anything violent, just old age rotting.
That's awesome.
It was like that walk with the Willbarrel was kind of like the Walking Dead version of the opening scene to Beauty and the Beast.
The question.
Bonjour.
But he's all saying, bonjour to Pierre, but he's a walker.
I was like, this is amazing.
Oh, she was a great dentist.
She was a great dentist.
And then we go to the one guy who's still alive and he has dementia.
He always forgets.
He's like, we're going to Florida.
And so then the guy, the farmer, betrays them
because they pay off the soldiers with food.
I was waiting for that to happen.
How about it was going to be both of them?
I thought so, too.
But I was surprised that it wasn't both of them,
which made it a little strange butt,
because I thought it would be the woman instead of the man.
But it wasn't.
No, it wasn't. They reversed it, which was fine.
But that's where we end up killing your girl.
uh jeanette uh and i thought for her death her death was awesome yeah it was a good death was a good death
was a good power juice uh with the walker power juice uh just exploding her that was good that was a good
death for her she deserved it being the badass ruler that she was
come on by the way i got it i got to admit i love the line from the from the old the old farmer
lady when she was talking to jeanette and basically it's like like like i
heard of you and you're like, you have?
I've heard of people like you.
They came here before years ago and put kids on trains.
Yeah.
And they were actually scary villains back then.
If you grew a mustache, I might be scared of you.
That's hilarious.
So we've got two episodes loud.
The, uh, voile, CSPV.
And then episode six is, uh, or a,
blah the offense.
So do we think that,
do we think Jesus makes it?
Do we save Laurent?
Or does, is it just,
is it just Carol and Darrell
attempting to fly Ash Air alone
trying to get back to America?
But you think Ash is going to die?
I mean,
he's, if he doesn't,
I mean, he's going to find out alive.
Yeah, right.
If he stays alive,
then
I mean that's only to fly them back
right
yeah
and so
but then
somewhere along the line
he'll never have to know then
if they come back
with just Carol and Daryl
and he says
you know
what about your daughter
she's dead
I couldn't find her or whatever
although Laurent does
kind of look like a girl
no we're not doing
try to pull that one off
all right
and save the whole thing
there it is
book it
calling it
yeah
the thing is
you have one
you see
there's one
big mistake
where you
you have there
as a writer
I'm surprised
you didn't
notice this
plot hole
um
her daughter
he said the age
her daughter
would be in her
20s
and Laurent is still
a teenager
looks young
it looks young
it's right
Max you still
look 16 to me
so
I'm 22
exactly
Exactly.
Plus, in today's world, although it's not today's world, it's in their world.
This is my trans daughter.
Why don't you just back off?
Say something, Ash. Say something.
Say something, Ash.
I forgot to tell you.
She had fully transitioned before the end.
But yeah, it looks like next episode, we're going into the catacombs again.
Yeah, yeah, because they got to hook up with, though.
they got to hook up with their people right in Paris.
And then, I mean, so then we're still back to fighting the same, the same army and the same
people who just got to get out of it.
Now the religious cult and the army have joined together.
Officially, I mean, they always were.
We find the way it looked is they were always working together, just they didn't mind
anybody to know.
No, they weren't.
They were at war.
I don't know about that.
I kind of feel like the preacher man and the janitor were working together.
They knew each other.
They knew each other, but they were against each other.
That's what it was said all along.
Yeah, okay.
I know.
Okay.
All right, that's fine.
I'm looking forward to it, though.
I am.
I mean, I have a bummed that there's only six episodes.
I know.
Only two episodes.
They've done a great job with them, no question.
How do you keep that momentum from this episode?
I have no clue.
Like next episode, if they don't do something, this next episode is going to feel boring,
because there was so much going on in this one.
That's for sure.
crazy.
Yeah, I mean...
We lost a lot of people.
Yeah, we lost a lot of people.
So I'm looking forward to seeing how they're going to kill Jesus.
Because I don't want to lie.
Or they kill Carol.
Carol finally dies.
If that happens, if that happens, the end of the show is Carol's death.
That could be insane.
I'd be okay with it, I think.
I would be too, but I don't think...
I don't think that's going to happen.
That's the only one.
way her holding on to the
Rick reveal makes sense to me
to where if because that because otherwise
he would say screw it I'm not going to do anything
but instead if she dies like in his arms
and she says you have to make it back
Rick is back then
he's like then it changes the entire game
so I don't know that could happen
holy crap yeah
that's a good call oh this would
that's a good call two episodes
left either like it's insane because we're all
thinking oh my
brain, I'm still thinking, oh, we have like seven episodes.
No, we have two.
So Ash Air survives, and we take Ash Air back.
With Laurent and Darrell.
And Carol is dead, and the black guy who is the underground warriors in France
will take care of Daryl or take care of Carol at the end,
because he's waving goodbye out there at the airport.
The racetrack.
Yeah, the racetrack.
The hippodrome.
I could happen.
I could happen.
I mean, I think I'd be okay with that, too.
You could book closed on Carol.
I mean, at this point, I'm just annoyed.
I'm kind of tired of, you know, plot armor.
The whole thing.
Everyone.
Yes.
That would be a sad end, but it would still be an interesting end.
Yes, it would be awesome.
All right, we got to get out of here.
Okay.
That's what we're looking forward to Carol's death.
I just looked it up. That's what's happening.
All fans, I'm sorry, but we're, after these next two weeks, we're going to be gone for a while again because Dead City comes out in spring, not summer. I was wrong about that, but spring. So like April or something.
Well, we've got the holidays. And, you know, we'll, I mean, AMC, what are you doing? What are you doing?
Anyway, I don't want to beat them up anymore than we already have. Jason is making fun of their villains, and I don't like it.
If you want to make fun of fill-ins, go to fear.
Thank you for listening.
We'll see you here next week for another great edition.
Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, myself, Jeff Fisher.
You can always email the show Chewing the Fat at the Blaze.com.
Thank you for going to be along for the ride on Talking, Walking Dead.
