Starting point is 00:00:00 Are you ready? There, my man? All right. So I'm talking about season six, episode 10, titled Handel with Care. That makes this talking walking dead, Fear the Walking Dead edition. Welcome to it.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchell, and Maximus Fisher. IMDB description of threat, worse than Virginia is on the horizon. Morgan calls for unity and invites all the survivors to his settlement taking, tasking Daniel to keep the peace, however, Daniel will need to face his own challenge in hopes of protecting his friends.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Okay, so I was, I'm just going to start off saying I was not real happy with the episode. Daniel, he's your favorite character in the show. I know, I know, and what they did to him last night was agonizing. They shouldn't have been doing that to my man like that at all. So, but the entire episode, I mean, as it got into it, I mean, they had the meeting of the four families, you know, the mob families all meet together at the end. You know, at the beginning, they come together with their little meeting out front, and then they come in and they've got to turn their weapons in.
Starting point is 00:01:32 I mean, it's the meeting of the four families, right? I mean, they're, they're consolidating the mob families together to see what they can do. against this elusive people that we don't know anything about except that they have spray paint cans and we don't like that. And they like saying the end is the beginning. And they probably blew up that oil rig they had. So anyway, and then it goes on to
Starting point is 00:02:00 show a struggle for Daniel that I was, give me a break. Give me a break. The whole episode was that. The whole episode was showing. showing that you couldn't afford Daniel anymore? That's all that episode. I don't think that was the case.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I don't know. I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt on this. Let me start off by saying, for me, I'm willing to give them a pass here because the first two episodes are so good. I know. We asked that question last week, can they keep this pace?
Starting point is 00:02:32 The answer after last night is a definitive no. They cannot keep the pace. This is what cracked me out. This is what this episode reminded me of. And I was thinking this from the very get-go once things started feeling weird with Daniel. I was like, my mother used to force me to watch days of our lives when I was a young kid. Well, force me in that we only had one TV. So if mom was watching it.
Starting point is 00:02:53 If you're watching TV, that's what we're watching. That's what we're watching, the entire family. Amen. And remember, they used to these hilarious plot lines. Like, there was this one, and some people might remember this, where one of the main characters, he obviously didn't, the act didn't want to be there anymore. He wanted to go off and do other things. So they staged like an explosion.
Starting point is 00:03:10 and like apparently it ripped apart his face, right? Because he wanted to keep the character, just not the actor. And it ripped apart his face. So he went through like an entire season of bandages on his face. Oh yeah, the classic trope. And it's a completely different actor and everything's all good and we can keep going. It's just a different actor. It looks different.
Starting point is 00:03:27 And I was like, that's what we saw last night. Like they either, either Daniel has other things going on, maybe another project, maybe he just wants to take care of the kids, all that stuff. Who knows? Maybe he's too expensive. But they didn't want him to be part of the core group anymore. So they were like, let's weave this huge thing of him going crazy. Screw what the audience thinks, right, because they love this character.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Let's just turn him psychotic. Let's just do that and then move him off, you know, to a place where they obviously don't like him. Like, there's so many inconsistencies. Like, Strand does not like this guy. At all? At all. They're not going to brohug and go, let's go off and live in this community that I tried to escape. over the past season.
Starting point is 00:04:11 That's not happened. And I tried to murder him that very episode. Yeah. Yeah. I actually said this to them during commercial break. I think if they're ever going to kill off, either Strand or Daniel, the only person that's going to kill them off is the other. Is Strand or Daniel, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:33 But they don't have to. They just make them go away. Yeah. Strand. this point is his character so agonizing to me. I wish they would just either rewrite him or just get rid of him. Because he's so predictable now in his, like, you know, conniving and he's going to, every season he's going to do this. It's just stupid.
Starting point is 00:04:54 He's like the doc from Lost in Space. Like, oh, now maybe we can trust him and then boom, he does something stupid and he steals the robot. You know what I mean? Like, Everett's just ridiculous. So I just didn't understand. I don't know. I didn't understand the whole purpose of the, the whole purpose of the show, to me, really.
Starting point is 00:05:16 And I say that. I'm trying to, I tried to figure out exactly what purpose the show had. And to me, the only purpose that it had was that Daniel was too expensive. I know, you know, we ran through it again. Or, you know, I'll give you the days of our lives, fine, you know, that, you know, that, you know, we're wrapping his face. But we didn't wrap his face. We just sent him away saying that he's suffering from what,
Starting point is 00:05:39 The audience believes is dementia, but the all-seeing, all-knowing soothsayer from the east, June has no idea what he's suffering from. But she's going to go read it in a book and decide that it's not dementia. Okay. All right. You got me. I don't know. June, the medical expert in all fields. I love it.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Well, she did admit she didn't know everything about it. I know. Yeah, she's going to go read it in a book, but I'm sure it's not dementia. Okay. Thank you. Appreciate it. I just, I don't. But you did kind of like the beginning, like the right before the intro.
Starting point is 00:06:15 You kind of did like that. Yeah, I know it started out okay. And I was okay even up to, I was up, I was okay with the, with the pre-dementia meeting of the four families, you know, bring the, bring the mafia families together and let's consolidate and go after, you know, so that we can live in our own world of crime. and that's our own, you know, world of peace. Okay. I was fine with that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:44 And then, but to take it off the rails like that, no thanks. Yeah. No, I was in agreement. And especially after the accident with the explosion at the meeting, I was still intrigued. Yeah. I was like, okay. Something's going on. Maybe they'll turn the graffiti people into an actual threat because as of now, I am clueless as to why they're so scared of them.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I know. They blew up an oil rig. That's what I was just about to say. I get the gas thing. But still, that's one attack and the rest have just been graffiti jobs. Right. So I don't know why they're on the level of the whispers at this point. Oh, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:07:24 They might have introduced the bubonic plague to that group of people, remember? Yeah, but we don't know that. I mean, the only person that knows that, right? is Al and Dwight, but I'm guessing they would have told people. Yeah, but they haven't said anything in any later episodes. But even still, it's sporadic every once in a while. They like come back to that. Like, oh, like, there's newsflash.
Starting point is 00:07:54 There's bad groups out there, right? It's the zombie apocalypse. Right. They haven't made this group with a, let's, hey, let's put bubonic plague in the rats and put them into that apartment building. Or. On top of which, I know that. I know that our man Morgan wants to be, you know, the nice guy, and we're going to, you know, I'm in love with grace. And even though the kid isn't my kid, we're going to raise this kid.
Starting point is 00:08:17 It means the beginning of a new world, and it's all beautiful. But guess what? We're not good people either. Yeah. We didn't get here where we're at right now because we're all good people. Yeah. All right? We're alive, and we made it through, and we're together because we believe in we want to have a better future after this.
Starting point is 00:08:37 apocalyptic event, but we didn't get here at this point by being, spreading love and peace. Right. It just didn't. We're not here. We're not good people either. What we are is people who have one common goal that we want a better place, but there's no reason for you to, I almost use the bad word. There's no reason for you to mess with us either. I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:09:02 I can't, speaking of not getting it. There's so many parts, I don't remember an episode where I was like, wait, a minute, that didn't make sense. Like, there were so many times during this. Like, for instance, like, apparently they really don't trust each other, right? They're really hammering that home. Right. Guns up, all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:17 But you want to take the MRAP out for a spin? Go right ahead. It's the most dangerous weapon in the entire show. Go ahead. Here's the keys. I won't give my keys to my daughter, who's 18 years old. Yeah, no, you take your beat-up car. You're not taking my...
Starting point is 00:09:32 Okay, well, okay, let's see. Here's the keys of the M-Rap. I'm like, what? It's the M-Rap thing. I think they trust it. to certain people because Oh. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Well, take, okay, let's say that, well, here's the thing. It was Al's and then it became the, then it became masked people's thing. So. Yeah, so in the real world, Morgan goes, holy crap, they gave me the keys of the MRAP. He drives off and then radios, hey, Al, I finally got your MRAP back.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Meet me at this location. That's what would happen. Or he jumps in and goes, ah! And turns the guns on strand and says, okay, now give up, dude. Thank you. And to the real world. let's be honest for just a moment. Was it a surprise that they needed the pregnancy device? That was the game.
Starting point is 00:10:16 That was another one. Oh, that's right. We've got to get the prengo monitor. Gosh, I know where one's available. She's going to pop any second, and you forgot that? Like, what? I don't know. I don't know if you know this or not.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Now, this is just, maybe this is new information that only I know, but human pregnancies take about nine months. It's a process. So there's time. There's time between the time you go, oh my gosh, I'm pregnant with a child to giving birth to that child. Did we forget she was locked up for quite a few months with Virginia? Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Max, you're making a lot of excuses for this episode. It's like nonstop. I'm stating fact. Not stating, no, this episode, I'll admit. You didn't really give me my review for this episode. I didn't like this episode. I didn't like this episode. so much. I'll admit, there was
Starting point is 00:11:07 a couple scenes I did like, mainly the scene where Daniel almost shot Strand in the face. That was a good scene. Yes, it was. No, this episode wasn't that good in my opinion. I'll admit that I'm just stating facts
Starting point is 00:11:23 that Grace was locked up with Virginia for quite a few months. Right. And we... Yes, what does that mean, though? When that... So that means that what? Morgan's been stashing the pregnancy devices in another building, and he just now realized that, oh, you know, we need to go get them.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Again, lapse of judgment. It's dumb. It's dumb. You know, there are signs that the baby is imminent. Like, I don't know, like the contractions that she was having, the fact that she's huge, you know, approaching that date. I mean, Morgan's like, oh, holy S. I completely forgot all the medical gear was like an hour away.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Maybe I should go check that. out, you know, I don't know. And we found out at the very beginning of when they were all meeting out in front of the dam, right? When they all finally went out to just kind of feel each other out and say hello and, hey, we can come in. That's why I called this meeting. We find out that the MRAP has been running, you know, we can't take it for a ride around to take handicapped boy out because it's running on fumes. And if we have, if we let someone use it, we have to let everybody. use it, but, oh yeah,
Starting point is 00:12:37 Morgan, go ahead. Just go for it. Just, just give it a watch and top it off when you come back. Thank you. I just, I'm so short. I mean, that weapon is like a,
Starting point is 00:12:53 you know, a WMD in this world. And he just takes off with it and you don't, I don't know. And that's also kind of fun. Like, I'm still giving this series, the show the benefit of the doubt. Because, like I said, The first two episodes are going to be making.
Starting point is 00:13:08 The previews of the next episode actually look really cool with new characters and stuff. And we're going to meet who hopefully is the bad guys, right? Or who are the bad guys? So, okay, we'll see, you know, we'll see if, you know, spray paint people are bad. Yeah. Okay. At least we can agree on one, we all can agree on one thing that is consistent with this episode. Sherry is annoying.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Oh, big time. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. So annoying. Yeah. And she's in charge of one of the families now. No, thank you. No.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Have a nice day. Is she leading that other one? Or is it the guy? She's part of the upper echelon of that group. The leadership team. Which I still haven't really gotten what they're all about. Like, I don't know. Originally, they were a group of people that were just runaways from Virginia's camp.
Starting point is 00:14:06 that ran into Sherry, and Sherry kind of got adopted by their group. Right, at the skate park. Yeah, which they're still at. They're not living in Loughlin or whatever, what it's called? No. No, the masked people are living at... The skate park. Strand is living at Lawton, and Morgan's at the dam.
Starting point is 00:14:29 And June is in Switzerland. And June is, I think, living in the truck with... with Wendell and Sarah. Yeah, with a handicapped, Twith. Both of them aren't handicapped. They might as well be. I can't take it. But they are, we were right, we were right a couple of times that she is Switzerland, right?
Starting point is 00:14:52 She's the hospital and she's going to take care of everyone. No matter what, no matter what family you belong to, June will take care of you. Okay. All right. Whatever. I guess what they're trying to force on us is a Alexandria kingdom hilltop type scenario, I guess. Yeah. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I mean, I guess. Okay. Yeah. It just, it does feel forced to me. Like there's like this forced animosity between the groups that I really don't get. Even when they get together, it doesn't seem like they're very hostile. But apparently they are. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:31 There's no need for these groups. to be hateful toward one another, right? Right. So untrustworthy and, yeah, I don't. They're all out for the same thing. They just want to be their separate communities. Okay. We can be our separate communities.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I mean, that was the point of the meeting, right? We could be our separate communities, but we need to have a shared goal. Well, that should already be there. They should already be part of the deal with these people because they all know each other. Yeah. One was married to one.
Starting point is 00:16:05 The others came through a boating accident and then Mexico and then cowboys and Indians. I mean, they've all been together forever. They know what they can and can't trust with each other, or at least we believe that they do. I'll tell you what, the next episode is actually huge, at least for me, because they've got a lot of development or world building on this other group. that needs to be done. And if they don't pay it off, like, you know, why we should be so concerned and why they're so crazy,
Starting point is 00:16:43 the rest of this, the season's going to tank, I fear. It's just very, very important. You've put them up on this pedestal at this level. It better come through, because, yeah. Yeah. So we also talked about, a miss to talk about Dakota is still alive. Yeah, Dakota's still there and she's still, you know, gardening and then she wants, she's going to help out and she, you know, oh, you know what? My sister talked about, you know, these people going underground and maybe that's what they really were doing is going underground, you think?
Starting point is 00:17:19 Yeah, that little nugget was really the only reason for the show. Right. You know, like that's a throwaway line at the end. You know what I mean? It was like that was the only thing that was interesting. Yeah, up as well, up until we realized that the lady tried to tell us, make us believe that Daniel was crazy. Right? So, because I figured, I mean, they could have taken it where Grace and, what's her name again?
Starting point is 00:17:49 Charlie? Charlie. Yeah, Charlie goes to the shack, this fishing shack, the loaves shack. and they go to the love shack and then, you know, they get killed there from the paint people. You really wanted Grace to die. I want her going. I want her and that baby. I want them all dead.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Her and Charlie, they can all die. I want them all die. I don't care. I care very little about them. He had a prediction this week that both Grace and Sherry would die. I want them both dead. I want them all dead. I feel you because it seems like some of the.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Extra characters are just white noise. You know what I mean? It's just distraction. Just get out of here. Be done. Oops. Sorry. They're dead.
Starting point is 00:18:35 The only way I could see Sherry dying is to like in a situation where we like, something happens to Dwight. Sherry dies and he goes on a rampage or whatever. I mean, they're worried about. Worried about some walkers getting in. Aren't we far enough along now to know that unless we have 18 billion walkers. We're going to be okay. Yeah. They're not a threat to us.
Starting point is 00:19:01 They're not this huge monstrous threat to them. We know how to kill them. We know they're coming in through one little hallway in the concrete. We can't just pick them off when they come through. Sorry. I don't buy it. Well, they didn't have the weapon. But they didn't.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I mean, it's a knife to the skull. You've got all these people from all from the four families. He just wheel them through the little tunnel and kill them. Did we forget that they had to turn in all their knives? We've seen Morgan take out more walkers with a sharpened broom handle. That is true. They could have taken them out. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:42 It was almost like, it almost reminded me of like a key and peel skit when they, when they were getting all freaked out and the walkers were coming to them. Because they were, you know, they're coming so slow. And it looked like there was like 15 of them out there. there. And they're like, oh, freaked out. I'm like, well, just walk out there. Why? Sharpen a stick and then take them out. We've seen you do this before. Like, this isn't a... And it was nice of, uh, the person who borrowed the
Starting point is 00:20:07 MRAP to just show up and use all the ammo up by killing them. I'll say, yeah. It wasn't, uh, it wasn't an alpha horde situation. No. Right. Not at all. And of course the explosion drew them. We knew that. Okay. So that was the point of having the dam though, right? They show up to the dam. They can't get in. Yeah. And so we have one little wooden gate that isn't reinforced that gets knocked down. And then we have one chain link fence that, you know, Daniel, our dementia man now, dementia Daniel, he says, oh, that wasn't built for, you know, to be reinforced for this either.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Well, what? That's a good point about the dam. Like, that was one of the selling points of why it was so safe. Right. I think they specifically said walkers can't get in. That's a giant concrete wall. Well, we didn't mean those walkers. We meant those other guys.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Like, those walkers can get in. Oh, okay. However, the walkers that did get in, Daniel said he did let those ones in. From the other side. Right, from the other side. Not the ones through the... Anyway. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:22 All right. Anyway, we've killed the episode enough. And I can't. I'll give you one final review from listener Jeremy. As he was commenting throughout the episode, and I'm just going to give you his one, two, three, four, five bullet point that he made throughout the episode, one hour episode of Fear of the Walking Dead. Beginning, worst Zoom meeting ever. no one can ever break into that armory
Starting point is 00:21:55 and crap I left the fetal monitor at the last place I'll be back in a few hours that wasn't just us Jeremy no one could ever handle 18 walkers 18 and brought to you by Friends of Lawton Visitors Association
Starting point is 00:22:15 awesome and see Jeremy sounds like he's right in line with Yeah, probably. I did read a theory. When I was reading reviews for this episode, I did read a theory someone had. And honestly, it seems like a pretty good theory. So we all know we're not caught up with the main timeline yet.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Right. We're about maybe, I'd say at most, two and a half years from the end of the Savior War in fear time, not the nine we are in dead. Okay. The theory I read, I don't know if I subscribed to this theory, but I wanted to tell you guys, is the group Michone saw, remember those huge group in like the squares and a lot of them had horses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:09 That theory implied that's Morgan's group or what it will become. That is the fear group and what it will become, and then that is Machin's. Shone's way of going into fear whenever they catch up to it. Huh. You said we're not to the Savior War? No, the end of the Savior War? No, two and a half years past the Savior War. Okay, so...
Starting point is 00:23:31 Not the nine or ten that we are in Dead. So some of the stuff that we saw in Dead hasn't caught up to fear yet. Okay, that's... Fear hasn't caught up to it yet, whatever the case. So the Whispers War, hasn't even, that's not even a thing yet.
Starting point is 00:23:54 That's not for another, what, seven years or something like that? Not for, in fear. In fear, yes. Yeah, in fear time. Yeah. So, okay. I mean, I can go for that, except that it doesn't. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Yeah, I mean, it would make sense that that's how you continue to cross over, right? Because we talked last week about how the last season of Walking Dead would have to, and by the way, this is another prediction of this program. held true that amazingly they talked about like a day or two after this show was made available to the general public so you're welcome
Starting point is 00:24:31 we talked last week on this show about the possibility of them having to have Rick come back so that the audience knows about Rick Grimes I mean the new audience really doesn't have the love of Rick that we do
Starting point is 00:24:48 so then there's a story out where they're talking about, yes, the possibility of Rick coming back on the new show world and also the possibility of him coming back in the last season of Walking Dead. He wouldn't comment on it. Oh, okay. Why wouldn't you just say no to that? We're working on the movies and the movies, you know, the shows are coming to that. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:25:18 All right, no problem. So, I mean, I believe that we are correct. Right. And you all know my theory I've had for quite a while, which you didn't agree with until recently, Father, was that since we know we're getting a trilogy, the final movie in that trilogy will be the end of dead. That will be dead end. Ooh, I like that. Oh. So would that, would the movie be like the season finale?
Starting point is 00:25:47 The movie would be the end. would be the end of dead, the end of the complete series. That would be the end of fear, World Beyond, and the Carol and Daryl show, whatever. They would all come together. And I think, I mean, it's just worth too much money to make that happen, really, to actually have it go away. But I like the theory of it all coming together and the universe with the movies, and then you end up with that last movie, the third movie,
Starting point is 00:26:19 dead end. I don't know if I can handle another World Beyond season. There's one more. There's only one more. Because World Beyond was announced as a two-season thing. It's not getting a third. It's two seasons. Thank God. Yeah, don't know if I can handle it.
Starting point is 00:26:36 That's going to be painful. I know. The whole I mean, the whole point of those episodes were, you know, the little bit of knowledge we gained up that goes to the universe, usually happening at the end of each episode. So, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:50 We had to sit through the whole thing to get to that. It was just... So I've looked into this. It seems like season two of World Beyond, they have said we'll focus more on CRM. Good. Yeah, that'd be good. Good.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Yeah, it would be. All right, so any final thoughts on this episode, and then we're going to wrap this. Because I'm very disappointed. I would say that my last thought on this is, look, even... I think fear has, like I said, the first two episodes has got it. to where, okay, I'm willing to give them a bad episode.
Starting point is 00:27:25 And I still have fun with it because, like, we did this entire podcast, is just to kind of make fun of it. You know what I mean? It's not fun to even make fun of. Yeah. But I think it's going to get better. I do. I think next week will be better.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Better. I have to agree with you, Jason. I think this episode, not the best by a long shot. But the last two episodes are really good, if not the one episode really sad. but I'm agree with you. I'm willing to give them a bad to okay episode if next week's really good. I hope that next week is, I hope the bad guy that they've created isn't a comic book villain bad guy.
Starting point is 00:28:08 And that's what we've been getting on fear of these comic book villains. Maybe I know the world likes comic book villains, but they're comic book villains. We want real bad guys. Anyway. Not Metro Negan. Not Metro Negan. Right.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Right. And he's on the list. We just watched. Max made me sit through this god-awful recap of bad guys on Walking Dead. Walking Dead, not fear. I know, but it's the same stupid thing. And it reminded me of Metro Negan. At the ballpark.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Oh, man. Holy cow. I've been that sad because we've watched this whole stupid show from the beginning there with you. There was so much promise. So next week is called The Holding. Season 6, episode 11, that means that we have, I mean, this whole season is 16 episodes. So we'll see if the infiltration turns rescue mission as members of the group dig deeper into the underground community.
Starting point is 00:29:08 So we'll see if the paint people are actually bad. Thanks for listening to Talking Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead edition with myself, Jason Bunchel and Maximus Fisher. Make sure you subscribe to chewing the fat.
