Season 6, episode 2, titled Welcome to the Club.
This is Talking Dead, and that means we're talking fear.
All right, welcome to it.
Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, Maximus Fisher, talking fear, although we're in the
Talking Dead universe now, so it's just talking walking dead.
Welcome to it, Fear last night.
Episode 2 was, once again, I thought, not a bad.
episode at all. No.
I enjoyed it very much.
Yeah, same, man. They're being like, they're being very
core to why we love
this show. You know, walkers are dangerous,
being real creative,
you know, with those, you know,
different like scenes. The opening
scene right off the bat, I thought
was dope. I mean, you knew you were in for
something crazy, you know, on the level of
hurting walkers and, you know, off a cliff
or something like that. You know, you knew it was
a good, like, setup. You knew something was about to
happen. Yeah, I really liked
I thought it worked really well, especially with the molasses, sticky walkers.
Yeah.
They went really well for me.
Yeah, that was something we had not really seen.
The walkers were pulling people up underneath.
You know, strong walkers, you'd fall in.
I guess that's possible if they were stuck behind the door.
You know, it seemed, I don't know, I don't know.
I liked it.
It was fun.
We hadn't seen the walkers being proactive.
Yeah, right.
Thinking through there, for sure.
From ago, you knew that that one character, that one guy that just, Sanjay, yeah.
You knew he was just going to be a total douche.
Like instantly, you're like, okay, this guy.
I was, so as we go down the list of happenings up the show, I was very happy when he got it.
I was happy that he decided to help out.
Right, right, right.
That was awesome.
He was vol untold by Strand.
So the episode of description talks about, you know, Elysian Strand to clear the unusual walker threat, which was in this, you know, barn garage herding area where an encounter with the new Alley gives the Strand an idea that could be the key to their freedom.
You know, it was strange to see Alicia and Strand, you know, arguing over what they were going to do and then deciding at the end that they were going to split up.
And I just, I don't know that it made sense.
Yeah, well, what they were doing in the very beginning was kind of, it was funny to me because they were burning, you know, all the human waste.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
with the community.
It's like,
like if you ever been the military,
you know that that's the job
where if you screwed up,
you're in bad graces,
you know,
or whatever,
they don't really know
what to do with you.
They give you that job.
Luckily,
I never got that,
but I had friends that did,
and it is awful.
You burn it with diesel.
It's disgusting.
It stinks.
And you just know,
while you're doing it,
I'm a piece of crap.
This is the hand I've been dealt.
So I sympathize with that greatly.
You've got to try to stay upwind
my friend. Right. But yeah, I guess
they're really kind of between a rock and a hard place because I guess this agreement has been
you know, you deal with, you have to cooperate
with us or we're going to kill off all your friends. Like you make this deal to
protect your community, you deviate from that and you're dead. So
it's tough. And then we, you know, we've got to see the, you know,
the Lawton community that, you know, is all, you know, fenced in.
with the Rangers and, you know, life is still pretty good.
It's so cheese, man.
I know the Western thing.
It's like, this is their version of the kingdom.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, the version of the costume.
You have the kingdom cosplayers.
Now we've got the Old West cosplayers.
You know, it's like, I mean, come on, right?
Like, this is what you have to do.
I don't know.
It's just kind of goofy.
Like, this would never happen in reality.
There wouldn't be a group that said, hey, let's fashion her about that.
Old West World and Disneyland.
Right.
Are you sure about that?
Reality can be really weird.
Yeah, no question.
Now, I found it, I was really, it was interesting once they got, you know, banned to the cattle herding ranch that wasn't, which was a Walker herding ranch in the garage, that we didn't know what was in there, right?
I mean, it just seemed like they thought it was, you know, her sister who we met.
What's her face?
Dakota.
Yeah, Dakota.
Sister of Virginia.
I don't know if she has a brother coming up soon of, you know, North.
Thanks, Gagne.
But, you know, it was fascinating that she wants to pretend like she wants to get away from her sister, but not really.
I don't know about that relationship
But we found some old characters show up
Right, we saw Charlie and what's her face
I actually can't remember her name right now
That's actually rare for me
I couldn't remember her
Like I don't have no recollection of that actors at all
I don't either
I didn't either
What was Janice or whatever?
Janice, yeah, thanks
I remember her
I just don't
It just didn't click for a second
When she first showed up
Charlie on the other hand
We all remember her for mainly killing Nick
Right.
I mean, it was, you know, and then it was a great idea as they, you know, as Strand and Alicia, you know,
fought over how to take over the barn, a great idea how to herd them in, just that they, you know,
I don't know, I think they could have been a little smarter about it.
The thing with the whole Dakota sister thing, like, everyone is, like, scared of Virginia and doesn't like her.
And my one criticism on this, besides the fact of the Old West cosplayers,
is that Virginia is just not on that level of, oh, my gosh, this is such an evil person.
We should be scared of them, all on Negan, all that stuff.
She's not on that level.
So, like, every time she shows up, I just want to laugh, you know, like, and not in a good way, like,
it's laughing at a Negan joke.
You know, I'm just like, come on, man.
There's this, like...
I kind of feel that way, too.
And I kind of feel like, okay, so here's your sister.
sister, we're at the cattle herding barn, and if we wanted to take over from Virginia, I mean,
there's the sister right there.
We're going to take over.
If she cares so much about her sister, then guess what?
I'm going to cut her throat right now, or you're going to put me in charge.
Right.
Right.
I don't, yeah, but I don't think at least Alicia and Alicia mainly, Strand maybe, but
Alicia mainly isn't that type of person to at least use an innocent against somebody who isn't.
Yeah.
And that was the struggle between her and Strand last night, right, becoming who they didn't want to become.
Yeah, which was kind of contradictory because at the beginning he said he needed Alicia because he needed that connection to himself.
And at the end, he said exactly the opposite.
Right.
Because remember, in the beginning, they were arguing, you know, let's take out the Rangers and that was whole Strand's idea.
and he was hell bent on that, and Alicia disagreed with it, and he went along with her.
Yeah, and look, you'd come up with some weird ideas as you're burning poop.
And then you thought, and then it was great to have Daniel back.
Awesome to have Daniel back.
And you knew it wasn't real, right?
You just knew.
I thought, for a few minutes, I was thinking, wow, they must have been bad to actually give him amnesia.
I thought he might have been faking it for a second.
Then the ending came.
I'm still, are you guys convinced that he didn't come to his senses at the end?
So was it partly real?
Yeah.
The music brought it.
The music brought him back a little, and then with the whistling as they were leaving, that snapped him back out.
Maybe.
Yeah.
It could be a mixture of both.
Yeah, I guess that makes your own interpretation.
Yeah, I mean, that makes a little more sense than him faking it, although he, you know, he wouldn't want to fake it.
The reason it makes me think that he was, that it was not real is that he was outside of the city and he was alone with Morgan.
And I don't know that he still, in the first time when he was confronting Strand and Alicia, you know, he never really trusted Strand.
Yeah.
You know, he never really trusted Strand.
They, you know, they both used each other, but Strand was always, you know, a backstabbing, conniving, a little hustler from the very beginning.
And still is, really.
Yeah, right.
So unlikeable.
Every time I want to like him, I just don't.
I know.
Gosh.
I know I want to like him bad.
And he's, you know, I know he's part of a crew, but he always does that twist.
Like what he did with, like what he did with Sanjay this episode?
Oh, and I like that.
I like that.
I like that bar.
I like that.
He tugged in my heartstrings with that.
Because I remember he yelled, close the gate after a lot of the molasses walkers starting to back up,
and he was just gone because he got freaked out.
That should have been the plan to begin with.
Let some out close it down.
Let some out close it down.
So they didn't get backlogged.
That was, that's one of my points of that was kind of a dumb plan.
Yeah, and I was like, yeah, there was a lot of it that just didn't make sense.
Like they were just, they were letting them out, you know what I mean, at the very end.
Why weren't they, like, killing them in the same?
center. They were just killing them at the end.
Right. What are you doing?
I don't know.
It didn't make it. I will say that it made, you know, I guess if you start killing them in the walkway, then they start backing up there and start going against the sides, which, you know, is a problem.
But that wouldn't be a problem if you let some out, close the gate.
Let's some out, close the gate.
This is such a huge difference in contrast between the core walking dead characters.
Like Rick and the gang would have dropped in a ninja suits and just killed everybody.
You know what I mean?
With some full plan.
This group does something stupid.
We enjoy watching it, but at the same time we're like, okay, this is kind of dumb, but it's kind of fun to watch.
Yeah, it's fun to watch.
But the other group would have just ran in there like Bruce Lee and just destroyed them all.
Well, of course, unless we're talking about early season 7 Rick group when they were broken by Negan,
than with wimp Rick.
You know what I, man?
See, that's another thing where I just keep going back to people,
like, if you compare like Negan and Virginia.
Like, Negan, you were just, you were destroyed after the things he did.
You know what I mean?
Just destroyed.
Right.
And you don't get that with her.
You're just like, ah, whatever, she's just goofy and, you know, whatever.
They're eventually going to break free from her or whatever.
But you had this sense of despair and dread in the Negan episode.
But Virginia is going to send in a ranger on a horse.
So if that, to be scared about.
Well, after they killed, of course, after they killed all the walkers and Virginia came and took back her sister,
she was just like, why would I punish you for doing what I wanted?
You're now one of my heads now.
To create an army, yeah.
And that makes a little sense.
You know what I'd love?
I'd love to have like a cosplay off between the king and Virginia and just have them just go at it for like,
10 minutes straight where Virginia's like,
man, no, partner, you rascal, you rar,
wherever, and then the king like, what thou, child?
You know, just go off, you know.
That would be good.
We should create that.
That's awesome.
If you're listening to this podcast right now,
you need to create the Kazov
between Virginia and the king.
That would be awesome.
Unfortunately, it's character-wise.
as Ezekiel isn't the same man as he was in season seven.
It doesn't matter.
It's still worth it.
Where for art thou go?
There's enough, I think, video.
Someone could do this on social media to have like, almost like they're talking back to each other.
I'm talking for him.
That's a lot of work that someone could do.
Yeah.
Someone that's part of the show.
Named Max.
That would be fun.
So, and then we.
we got the survival army and they split up and we're you know we we got through all that
and we're back at the end and then again Daniel you know realizes and I kind of I kind of think
maybe you're right now that you've slightly talked to me into it a little but I think we'll find
out that he was playing yeah he got he got he knows the information he knows you know he knows a whole
bunch of stuff by being this guy that wasn't supposed to know anything.
Right.
He's had unprecedented access to them with their guard down, all the heads.
I think you're right.
The only thing that was weird to me on it was there was a, I was trying to, I was wrestling
with it in my head, and then one of the final scenes was he, like, gave a look, you know,
almost like a, I don't know, like some kind of aha moment or something like that when he
was looking for Morgan.
Yeah, like that after the whistle outside.
He gave a weird look, and I was like, wait a minute.
Did he just at that point everything crystallized?
That's when he sent homeboy back to get the pair of scissors that he needed.
Yeah.
I mean, but he's had on President of Access.
I mean, they were trusting him to cut her hair.
Yeah, you're so right.
I mean, he could have stabbed her in the brain at any time.
Yep.
Been done with it.
Yep.
But he's just been gathering intel.
Right.
Yeah, so, I mean, I kind of like that.
And my boy, with him and Morgan together.
they're taking over
a lot in town is going down
it was cool seeing a bounty hunter
Morgan again
with the axe and the coat
and the hat
such a badass
I know
I know I don't want him to
go back to
to Zand Morgan
although I like Zed Morgan
but I don't want him to go back to it
shut up
you're just
running the screen for that horrible
episode
I love that episode
with the doc, find yourself.
Find yourself.
Become one with yourself.
Everybody loves him
with Eastman. Everybody loves that
doctor episode. Well, would you say everyone?
Okay, the majority
of people.
But it was well,
I mean, the episode itself
overall was really good. And I'm glad to see
that fear has, then the first two episodes
have been really good.
And, you know, it was directed
by Lenny James, so they're all getting
their hands in the pie of the shows.
So I think that helps.
This episode was directed by Morgan.
And so, you know, like, again, they had interviewed them before where they had talked
about, you know, them all wanting to get their hands into the, you know, into the pie.
And that's great because that means, you know, they have ideas that will help the show,
which obviously it has.
Yeah, for sure.
We also
One of the things that
I guess works in our favor
is that we can
For Morgan and Daniel
Outside of the
Outside of Lawton is that
Strand is still there
With a key to the city
And while he is
You know
Backstabbing
Coniving
He's
Mostly on their side
Right
We can talk him
into being on our side, at least to let us take over.
Yeah, the problem with him, he's just so self-serving.
And you can tell that he's all about himself over the group is secondary to himself.
He's always been that way.
It's always been.
The one likable thing about him is that you can tell he does care for the group.
It's just he cares for himself a whole lot more.
Right.
Yeah.
And you'll, I believe, I don't know.
Yeah, that's definitely going to come into play as he has the key to the city.
there's going to be that he's going to be working on a plan but Daniel and Morgan are going to have another plan
and they're going to be forced to work together not like it and then the status quo is going to continue on
right right so it'll be a shame when Daniel kills Strand
I'm such a shame I'll be really bummed
I'll come on you don't want Morgan to decapitate him no if I want Daniel to kill him
it's long overdue he does yes yes oh how about Alicia with her with her barrel
Blade.
Maybe that could work.
I don't know.
Possible.
That weapon, man, it's shown some fortitude.
I know.
That muffler kills people.
Muffler.
It carries her stupid muffler around.
It's not a barrel.
I did.
I put that on the back of my car.
Back of my Mustang.
Be kidding me.
I did find it interesting that the guns that they found,
and again, you know, we do have to stretch reality a little bit during the shows, I understand.
They didn't find the guns.
They were held by the Rangers.
They took from the Rangers, that's correct.
But the guns that they used amazingly had an overwhelming amount of ammunition to shoot all the walkers.
Yeah.
They all went down.
With leftover.
Yeah.
It's like, how are they going to run out?
At some point, it didn't, okay.
It wasn't like they were shooting for five minutes, though.
I'm just saying.
And if you could take out all those walkers,
couldn't you use those same two guns to take out the,
for like four people around Virginia?
Yeah, easy.
Right then or there.
Done.
Didn't even put up a fight.
I'm like, ah, screw it.
Now we're done.
Let's go back up, Tucker.
Here's your sister.
All right.
Good.
Fine.
I'll be your, I'll be the leader of your.
Army. Give me some chaps. Okay, I'll be the leader. That's what we're going to get
soon. Yeah, stranded chaps. That'll be a good look.
So next week we find out that I guess Al shows up, Dwight shows up. We'll see if we run
into Morgan again and Daniel again. It talks about as far as their IMDB information.
information and tell you've got to choose between what she has now and what she's been chasing.
Well, what you've been chasing, the hot girl from the helicopter?
Yes, yeah.
So, okay.
Yeah.
If she comes back to the crowd, she gets her truck back.
They take over a lot and she gets the truck back, so she'll be all happy, I would think.
And if it's Dwight, we might get some stuff about, uh,
his wife
yeah he needs
I like the
I like the flow they got going though
you know like
you basically got the full
pretty much
this is what's going to happen
in the first episode
now we get these kind of
like standalone episodes
where Morgan makes an appearance
kind of like Stanley
in a Marvel
you know movie
just to say
I'm still here
we're still moving that direction
still out here
still out here in the woods
nobody's getting me
at my friend. Okay, I have a theory. The episode after next episode
is going to be a John Dory and June
episode. Oh yeah. And John Doree, I mean, he's
familiar with the cosplay. I mean, that was his gig.
Yeah, he was doing. Yeah. He's with them.
Were they split up? They were, right? I think so.
Yeah, they all got split up, right? Yeah.
So, I mean, they all got split up so that they could.
That was help putting the standalone episodes together, right?
They're all trying to be on their own and be what they used to be.
Everybody, you know, they're the TV stars, the videotape stars that everybody saw trying to build a better place.
And now they're all split up, and that was a long time ago.
We don't do.
We're not those people anymore.
I like it, though, man.
I think just the way they're presenting it,
it's enough to keep you engaged and interested.
It's good stuff.
Absolutely.
There's little things to critique, you know, and make fun of, but...
I know.
And that's, look, that's what we're here for.
Talking Walking Dead.
But overall, really enjoyed it.
You know, it was a good episode.
Now, as long as we're into the Walking Dead universe,
and I saw the ads talking about, you know, joining the, you know,
be all encompassing
Walking Dead Universe commercials now.
And I saw the
post where
Wachke
read for some of the episodes
coming up in the
extra six episodes.
That was fun to see where
what's her face
meets Negan, you know, realizing he's still
alive and they come back and they
kind of tried to make peace
with everything.
I told you they were going to
that.
Yeah.
And so, as long as we're staying in the Walking Dead universe real quick, Sundays have become,
you know, back-to-back episodes.
You have fear and you have World Beyond.
And we talked a little bit about how World Beyond was more for, you know, the teenagers
and, you know, looks like the Netflix show for kids.
And while this latest episode was better.
I honestly thought this last episode, World Beyond, at least was better than episode
too.
That doesn't make it good.
You know, all good.
Instead of a sledgehammer, I hit my hand with a hammer.
That's better.
It just doesn't make it good.
Yeah.
There was nowhere else to go but up from that first episode.
Yeah, yeah.
I did enjoy their, you know, walk through the tires and, you know, walk through the burn.
That was kind of fun.
And, of course, this episode mainly focused on the big kid, Silas.
Right.
So, I mean, we don't, I don't want to get into a world beyond because it's just agonizing.
We'll see how it goes.
They're in the universe, so I'm just letting you know I did watch it.
The only thing that I will say about it is I was in agony the entire time.
I did not want to watch it.
Okay, was this, Jason, to you, was this episode better than that?
the last weeks. Yeah, yeah, I just
said that. I think there was nowhere else to go but up.
Right. But I did not enjoy it, that being said.
I didn't know.
I was looking at my watch the entire time.
Right. I know. I know.
I know. Every episode was like eight hours long.
Oh my gosh. After the first six hours,
I'm like, it's never going to end.
The only reason I'm watching is I want to hear more
information on the, you know, the group.
Which we did. At the end of this episode, we did.
alone that's the only reason.
Yeah, but not much.
All right.
So talking for your next week, next week's episode, I believe, is entitled Alaska.
So we'll see what happens with that.
That probably is the name of some bird that they're trying to save.
But I look forward to it.
