Season 6, episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead, titled Alaska.
That makes this talking walking dead, well, fear the walking dead, to be exact.
Welcome to it.
Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, to talking, well, fear the walking dead.
Episode description on IMDB, Alan Dewego Rogue on a recon mission for Jenny to follow a lead.
thought lost and Al must choose between what she has now.
It was actually a pretty good show.
I enjoyed it.
You know, there were some, again, when there was some, you know, some plot holes that I thought,
oh, come on now.
These people have been in this building all this time.
I don't know.
I just felt, before we get to that, before I start nitpicking, we'll just say,
I felt it was overall a pretty good show.
Yeah, no, I agree.
And I was thinking the same thing.
How many years into the apocalypse are right now?
I know.
And they're still hanging out in this one building.
Thank you.
I thought it was a pretty good episode, but you have to remember that fear, this part of fear,
is like just after Rick got picked up in the helicopter.
We're not caught up with Dead yet anymore.
This is still before the big eight-year gap that Dead did.
But still years.
But there's still quite a while.
Yeah.
I mean, we still had, I mean, okay, so I mean, we still have, we're way past Negan, right?
I mean, Dwight and Morgan are part of the deal now.
So, I mean, we're way past the Negan years, right?
Or at least not far past.
Yeah, maybe a year or two.
Okay.
So, I mean, that's still quite a while to be hanging out on floor 12 or wherever the hell they were.
Yeah, that building would smell kind of ripe.
Yeah.
Plus the Bhubonic.
play rat building. I was not expecting
to see the black plague show up
in dead.
Oh, they clearly listening to the podcast
again. We thought it would be squirrels
you know, ushering in the public.
But it was the rats.
Thank you.
I mean, all this time they're in this
plague building and they, I mean,
they all would be clearly dead.
No, from what it seemed like
the plague was placed there. It wasn't
in there the whole time. That's what
that's what they kind of hinted at at the end of the episode.
Okay, with the end is the beginning people?
Yes.
So the end of the beginning people is just carrying around plague rats?
Maybe.
You don't carry around plague rats?
That was pretty common.
The end is the beginning.
Okay, drop off a couple of plague rats, and we'll end this building quick.
Scoot and kill them.
Whatever.
That's fine.
All right.
And then we started out with Dwight and Al out scavenging.
for the
cosplayers, the cowboy cosplayers.
And
it was interesting to see
them out scavenging a little bit
and
Killer
Walkers. Yeah, they're still
powering up the cameras.
We still got plenty of power
for the walkie-talkies.
There's plenty of power.
Not in the building.
Not in the building, though.
Not in the high-rise.
Just everywhere else.
But everywhere else.
There's plenty of power.
Yeah.
I thought was cool.
man, I like the, I don't know, Al's been kind of a hard character to, I don't know why, because she's a good actress, but I just really haven't gotten into the character that much.
But I was, I like, I like the stuff that they added to them, like the little game, you know, the driver's license game, which is weird that everyone's still carrying around their driver's license.
You know, can't really figure out why people in the apocalypse would care around their driver's license.
You know, that's funny that you say that because I was kind of thinking the same thing.
And then I thought, well, you know, if you were out and about, I would probably have mine with me.
I don't know if I would.
I was trying to think if I would or not.
You know, I mean, at what point do you break away from the fact that, like, Dwight doesn't have his.
Like, he's been a negate guy and he's been back.
You know, he knows the world is over and their laws are his, right?
but other people, you know, might not really have that break yet,
where they would just, I mean, it's, while I don't carry it with me now all the time,
I mean, it's in my briefcase and, you know, if I's not, I don't know,
I just feel like, yeah, you'd have it with you.
Yeah, I don't know.
Regardless, it was a good, it was a cool game.
It was something to throw in there to show, like, their camaraderie or whatever.
I was like, what's crazy is, yeah, this breaking up these episodes
and to just stand-alones with everyone split apart is really, it's dope, man.
It's been working.
The anthology setting has been really working.
It's gotten me like, so this show is like something I actually look forward to watching every week, which fear was not like that.
Fear was just something I watched because I feel I had to to stay up to date.
It's kind of like World Beyond is now.
Yeah.
I have to watch that.
I know.
And by the way, just as a side note for World, you don't have to watch the whole show.
You just have to watch the episode after the show.
and you realize you sat through the whole show of world
and then they give you the after show
The end credit scene
They're going Marvel
Which is all you need to know
That sets up the universe
I didn't have to sit through the whole stupid thing
I just man all I do
You know what all I do is fast forward
I tape it on my DDR
And I just fast forward through pretty much everything
That's all I do
I just fast forward
If I think that I might get updated
on some of the CRM Consortium Consortium stuff, I like play.
If not, go back, back, you know, fast forward 30 seconds, 30 seconds, 30 seconds, that's how I watch that show.
We watch it live so we don't do that.
But we may start.
We may start.
Nah.
We may start doing that.
So I do like, you know, that's why it was such a good idea when we thought of it here on the Talking Walking Dead series to run their show like that because it was the best way to do it.
They didn't have any other plan.
They blew away any other plan early on that would have made the show worthy.
So the only way to go was that way.
And I'm glad they finally came to their senses.
And we did talk a little bit about the very beginning with Morgan and the baby and, you know, the inside connection.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And he's redoing his staff and the acts.
Yeah.
You know, I thought it's kind of cute.
Kind of cute.
So how long before the baby and the mother get killed?
The mother probably is a shoe-in.
I think Morgan will probably survive.
That's just my guess.
Oh, yeah.
Give it to one of the other dingoberries to raise.
Or Morgan himself.
I wouldn't, that would not surprise me at all.
I thought they were kind of setting that up.
Would you like the holder?
You know, like...
There's no way he holds that, though, because, right, I mean, he misses his kid.
The whole theory started with him with this kid.
and the mom walking around the neighborhood still as a walker, right?
Yep.
That's why I thought I thought they were doing a little poetic license there
and, you know, beginning to set that up.
And when Morgan said, I feel like I've been 16 different people since this started,
and I'm like, he's not that far off.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I know.
And so, you know, maybe, you know, just when,
obviously I haven't been paid to write these episodes,
although we all should be.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Morgan start to, you know, want to take care of a little business with the mom.
And then she dies.
Then she gets the, she gets killed.
I think they signed her death warrant at that one scene.
I really do.
I think she's gone.
I kind of disagree.
I think Morgan's been a widower through and through.
I think he still wears his wedding ring.
Yeah.
Correct.
You mentioned the weapon.
He, like, makes the weapon.
And of course he walks away and has to do a little like karate action.
Well, he has to train with it because there's more weight to it now.
Yeah, it's way to different.
He's got to train with it.
He has to become one with the weapon.
Don't you know that?
He did that when he just had the staff, remember?
Yeah, that's part of the Morgan training, the book that he got from the doc, the Chi-Zem training.
What was it called?
I don't remember, but I remember the doctor's name with Eastman.
I know, but what was the book,
the Chi Chi-Chi Zen training that he did?
I remember, he gave it to Nick before he died.
Stupidest plot ever.
Oh, I know, you're messing off.
Don't be messing with the Chi-Chi Zen training of Morda.
This weird karate dojo out in the mountains.
He's going to learn karate.
Well, hey, it's worked.
Morgan hasn't been able to die yet,
of it.
Yeah.
Yeah, Mr.
Smarty pants.
Yeah,
what do you got to say
to that?
I can't wait
until they do an episode
where he sets up
his own dojo,
you know,
and treats it,
you know,
teaches kids.
He's killing people again.
Here's the thing.
He's killing people again,
so there's that.
Everyone break out your
bow staffs.
If you don't have it,
I got a few over there
in the corner.
Assume the position.
And I just
Black Belt.
I love it.
I love it.
Yeah,
that's got.
to happen.
Jojo.
I love it.
So then we had, you know, I, I enjoyed the, well, I don't know if I enjoyed it, but they did
the, you know, climbed through the building and the Black Plague pipe walls to get to
the roof.
So, and I was thinking while they were doing it, I was like, it's almost like they're
trying to be diehard.
I read an article today that they were trying, they were mirroring it out.
they were thought about diehard.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
That's cool.
Yeah.
So, you know, I'll make it to the roof.
I like that.
We saw Dwight had gotten bit by one of the fleas.
Yeah, or the rats or something when they were climbing through,
so he was concerned about having the plague.
But I found it interesting that once she got to the roof,
then she calls off her girlfriend or would-be girlfriend and says, you know,
no, no, don't.
It's full of black plague.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know.
I didn't really know what to think about that.
Does she feel like she's...
I don't know.
Like she owes her Dwight or something?
I don't know.
I guess.
I mean, that does lay credence to the...
It wasn't Black Plague all the time there.
Yeah.
It does lay creams to that.
Because she said this draw point Delta has fallen or something.
But you think that if they use that, you know, the...
So I'm still concerned about all the people in the building that are still alive.
been wandering around.
I don't think that they,
our girl would not have let them survive.
No way.
So do we,
do we,
do we know now the,
the end is the beginning people?
Are they tied to Virginia?
We,
no, I don't think so.
They're separate.
I feel like they're different people.
So they,
so they want,
that they want to get into that submarine
and they need that key
to get into that submarine,
but we also know that Virginia
was after that sub-
key as well, because she tasked the bounty hunter to go after the dude that had the key.
Right?
Maybe.
I'm not sure.
I don't think we ever knew that.
I think we're reading into Virginia needing the key to the sub.
I just assumed because she was, you know, tasking out orders to that bounty hunter guy.
And that dude that had the key was one of the guys.
I don't know.
I just assumed.
But I guess it's possible somebody else told him to do that.
We could be,
they'll probably explain that later.
Right when he had to go, remember, because he was, you know,
just up the road from San Antonio.
You know, only 10 or 12 hours away.
He was just going to drop a line down there.
That plot line's interesting to me,
because it's almost like it's getting kind of like thrown off in the background.
But that's apparently very big to the storyline.
Well, they're going to have to, yeah, I mean, they're going to have to meet up, right?
So there's got to be seven people.
I mean, that's got to be a battle that happens.
the cosplayers that are the cowboys and Indians
or just cowboys
and the Indians a while ago
and the cos players that are
the paint people
the spray paint on the wall people
and then of course you have Strand
being part of Virginia's group now
yeah we'll see how long that lasts right
we haven't seen we haven't gone back to see what happens
next week's supposed to be, we saw a preview of John, right?
And still, we go back to Virginia or Jenny, and we'll see how our people can't stand for that much longer.
They just can't.
I saw that preview, and I didn't really know what to think about that.
It almost looked like it kind of looked like John was buying in to the Virginia stuff.
I don't know.
Did you guys get that impression?
Well, I didn't really get that impression.
I mean, look, we know that he was big on the Western cosplay.
He can't help it.
Right.
But he's also somewhat of a good person,
and these people don't seem to be like that.
So we really don't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
It just looked like it, and I was like,
oh, no, I hope John's not going dark.
That would suck.
And then we had one of the things that I found,
I don't know, I was still stuck on the,
these people in this building, man, it really throws me that they were stuck in this high rise for so long,
and they don't have more than what they had.
You know, it seems like if you were to take over to be in that building for a while,
you would have laid the groundwork for that building being yours.
Yeah, and talk about people that are bad, you know, type people.
When I found out that she was a timeshare salesman,
I pretty much wanted the entire building to come crashing down at the end with everyone inside.
Were you not disappointed at that at the end as well?
I was like, but where's the justice?
That's like, can't wait for the justice?
Thank you.
No, don't give them the Cipro.
Because she didn't get to go to the island that she was lying to people about.
Yeah, right.
Go into her little timeshare office and put that box of Cipro and burn it in their face.
That would be great.
Sit her with those damn plague rats and be done with it.
No, I don't want a time share in Slovakia.
Thank you very much.
Kiss your sip-broken by.
No kidding.
Your time is up.
Have a nice day.
So, anyway, we have Al find the medicine at the top of the roof because of the drop point.
Yeah, that was fine.
She got the beer, and it was fine that they finally got some beer that wasn't skunk beer,
like at the homemade medical center that they were raiding at the very beginning.
and so, you know, that was
cute.
They went through all that, and
then Al gets caught off guard by
a dead lady with no teeth.
Okay.
In the beginning?
I just, I don't know.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It was, like, pristinely dressed.
That was also another weird thing.
Here's the thing. They said it was a funeral home.
Right, but it's been years since the
apocalypse happened. She's still running around
in her awesome clothes.
I did like Dwight's plan on killing off Al, though.
We find somebody that's recently turned.
We bashed her face in.
And I just tell her you bought it.
It's all good.
I know how to lie.
I'm good.
I mean, I like, Dwight's a thinking man.
He's a thinking scammer.
He's always scammer.
He worked with Negan, so of course he is.
I know.
I know he stayed alive.
He's only had an iron to the face once.
That's it.
He's good.
I used to hate Dwight.
I actually like him now.
I do too.
That, like, so that end scene was like something that we don't even get in Walking Dead anymore.
I know.
One of those pivotal scenes.
Him reuniting with Sherry.
Yeah.
Oh, man, that was good.
It was like, and I didn't even expect that at all.
Because I thought they were just going to keep dangling her like a guy.
Yeah, the ongoing thing of not being together, right.
Right.
And then we, and then so in all the shows, this really is like one of those defining things, like something big happening.
I was like, hell yeah, that was dope.
Seeing Sherry again, it's been a long time.
We haven't seen her since the last end of season seven.
Yeah.
And that, while we're happy because they've added, now they added a couple characters, right?
A couple of big, you know, we've got a few people from the Timeshare office,
but the Timeshare Lady and Sherry are now two characters that are, you know,
de-characters that we can lose or not lose.
but they didn't kill anybody off.
Right?
Nobody died off of any worthiness,
but the reuniting of Dwight and Jerry were actually worth not killing anybody off.
Yeah, I agree.
Yeah, I completely agree.
And I think maybe bringing some characters back,
like big characters means that they can get back to doing like some surprise deaths.
Because, man, they are out of all the shows.
shows now going on.
They've really slipped with that.
I know.
You never, you don't expect it anymore.
Like, no one's going to die.
Don't worry about it.
It's right.
Their cartoon characters.
It's just strange.
That has to stop.
Yeah.
That has to stop somewhere.
At least in dead, it kind of makes sense because
in the comics, around
this time, there are rarely any
surprised deaths in the comics. There are
some, but there are rarely
any of them anymore around this time
in the comics. Wow. Are you an
Apologies.
Yes, I am for the comics, but
I'm just trying to be,
they're trying to be more faithful while
being not at the same time. But fear has
nothing to do with the comic.
Yeah. Right? I mean, fear is on its own. Other than Dwight showing up.
Other than Dwight showing up, and
his character became a little different later on, so.
In the comic? Yeah.
So, I mean, in the comics, he stays,
he did die off. Oh, he got killed, but he,
Dwight got killed during the Commonwealth stuff.
Okay, so I mean, he was alive for a while.
Mm-hmm.
So we took him out of that and just threw him into fear,
and that's all new character stuff.
And then Sherry,
uh,
the,
Sherry, uh, got killed by Rick
in the comics.
Well, that was a while ago then.
No, he did, um,
right before the comic,
like, uh,
after the Whispersers,
but before the Commonwealth.
So you had enough of her.
Good.
No, actually, Sherry went a little crazy and attacked Rick,
and Rick trying to defend himself accidentally broke her neck.
Oh, I hate that.
Officer, no, really, it was an accident.
Here's my driver's license.
So then we had, if you break into world after fear,
because that's like a one-night thing now, right?
We've got fear, which has been really good.
good. I agree with you both.
Fear's the one we're looking forward to. I actually
found myself looking forward to the episode last night.
Yeah. And, you know, the World Series was on. I even broke away
from that. It went over to Fear. I didn't even DVR
and I watched it live. I know. I know. You're welcome. Fear? I got you.
But then I find myself
feeling forced to sit through world.
Yeah. And I was
really disappointed when I was
forced to sit through the whole thing
and they didn't give me anything that added
to the universe until the end
credit scenes. Okay.
You made me sit through that whole thing for that.
But the characters.
I don't even know if I saw the
end credit scene. What was the end credit scene?
Where they show,
now during World,
the girl had kept having
flashbacks with her dad, the scientist
that went away.
So then
the end credit scene is
a testing facility that
we're presuming is where
her dad is at and they show a picture
of her dad with four other
people, okay? And at this
testing facility,
they're testing people who
have turned that are
that are, they've got the
walkers tied up. There's like a row
of like over 20 walkers and like
gurneys tied up and they're testing
Oh crap. And they're testing. It's just testing facility.
And the lady that's due to the
of the testing in that end credit scene
who's eating a really huge sandwich
by the way looked really good
in the apocalypse I mean why wouldn't you have
one of the best looking sandwiches in New York
that's probably from one of the New York delis
and
they show her
finishing up one test
with this
doctor who's in the picture
and she asks for
the next testing
number
and she looks at the picture
with the four doctors in it,
and it's that guy and the girl's dad
and two other people.
So they lead you to think that that is,
that he's already dead.
Oh, crap.
I missed that.
So we don't know if the next,
you know, testing person was the dad.
It just leads you to believe that.
So maybe he's not dead.
But it's also, that's where Rick would be, too, right?
Or maybe he'd been,
maybe, because Rick got taken by the Sierra O.
that's also Jadis too.
Yeah.
So,
well.
Anyway.
See,
that's what's so infuriating and agonizing
because that's all you want to know about.
You don't care about all the teen angst crap
while they go for a swalkabout.
That's,
oh my gosh,
that's agonizing.
One of the best scenes during this episode
was Silas hulking out.
That was kind of a,
you know,
okay,
Mr. Serial killer.
We got to.
I mean,
it was,
you know,
they faced one wolf.
They didn't, that they didn't even kill?
I mean, okay.
I mean, there's afraid, I know that we're struggling,
and this is, you know, them out into the world for the first time.
But, you know, let's kill.
Let's kill some walkers and let's move the hell on.
I mean, Huck and Felix do, but the kids don't.
I mean, the first Walker kill was Silas.
I just said, you know what?
The one daughter.
I don't like her.
Which one?
You know, the one.
Yeah, that doesn't.
The one.
The fat one.
I don't like her.
You mean Iris.
Yes, I know the name is.
The fat one.
I don't like her.
She is annoying.
Very annoying.
Agonizing.
Give me the serial killer.
Let him start killing people.
Let's go.
Let's start killing.
What about Elton?
Suit.
Whatever.
Whatever.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
Stupid.
It sure is.
So I'm looking forward to next week called
the key so we'll see if it brings us any closer to the key didn't look like it would though
it looked like it was john and uh john probably i don't know if john has a key to the city but we know
that uh what's his face got the key right i mean that's the that's the premise behind the key where
we want it to be about the submarine and the key that morgan has i don't think that's what it's about
It's about the other key.
So we'll see.
And then, of course, world is, you know,
they're going to be fighting people at the Mississippi River,
which will be great.
No, really.
It'll be great.
So where do you think we're headed with fear?
Seriously, where do you think?
What the next couple episodes are we,
we have the standalone, so it's kind of difficult to see where it all matches up
when we all come together.
We have maybe two or three episodes before we get a group back together again, maybe?
Probably.
I honestly think that's what it's going to be,
where the two connecting points are going to be Virginia and Morgan.
Those are going to be the two connecting points.
Right.
But we also have the sub-people, right?
Mm-hmm.
So that has to come into play, too.
So now you're fighting, you're fighting, you've got the three sides all fighting the one thing.
Nobody knows Morgan has the key, though.
That's got to be the weapons or something that's going to turn the tide.
But, yeah, I guess what I'm expecting from the next few episodes is they continue to, you know, just establish that everyone's making do, making their own, you know, move to try to break away from Virginia.
And Morgan will be, you know, kind of like the Uniter, coordinating between all them.
And he's got, they've got a spot.
They're getting it already for all these people to move to.
Yeah.
But they'll need, I'm assuming they'll need what.
what's in that sub to be the final, you know, force that they need.
They don't even know about the sub.
The only people who know about the sub were those two guys who were writing the end is the beginning.
Yeah, they don't know about it, but they'll obviously find out.
I hope.
How many more episodes are there?
What episode were we on?
Four is next time, or is this?
Okay, so usually 16 episodes a season.
Oh, man.
So, yeah, we might not find out for a while.
Yeah, we have a long way to go.
Yeah, we have a long way to go.
which is why you should subscribe to the podcast, chewing the fat,
so that that's the mothership of Talking Walking Dead series,
so that when Talking Walking Dead happens,
whether it's fear, whether it's dead, whether it's world,
but it's all part of the universe.
You'll be notified because you've subscribed to Chewing the Fat.
So, Jason, Maximus,
another great week of Talking Walking Dead and Talking Fear,
and we'll see you next week.
