Season 7, episode 13, titled The Raft.
This is Talking Walking Dead, Fear, the Walking Dead edition.
Welcome to it.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butrell, Maximus Fisher.
Episode description on IMDB, Morgan and Alicia planned their next steps.
Dwight and Sherry face the prospect of having to choose between their code and their safety.
it was an okay episode
man i use small case okay
i'm not spelling out the word i'm just using the two letters small case okay episode
i was a little yeah it was okay
it's kind of hard to follow up last weeks you know what i mean it's like you're not
going to yeah i agree it wasn't better than last weeks but it wasn't bad
Well, the thing that was the most agonizing is seeing Sherry, being Sherry again and again.
I was like, go ahead.
No, I was just, I was at the very beginning when she's getting the raft ready.
There it is.
That's it.
There it is.
We were all thinking the same thing until the little twist later, but still.
Yeah, well, I think that changed the stream.
I was like the entire time, I was like, I can't wait for the sherry apology.
And there's going to be the reconciliation after she, like, you know, decides to go it on her own and not include Dwight.
Then we'll get the apology.
Like, oh, I'm really sorry.
You know, I shouldn't have done that.
I should have included you on that, not gone my own way.
Lady, when are you ever going to?
I mean, though, that didn't happen really.
How many times?
It did kind of happen, though.
It did kind of.
It was a little different than other times, though.
I got to say that.
But it was still the underlying, I'm sorry.
She was wearing a different colored shirt this time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we ended up, you know, being locked in the tunnel in the pipeline.
So that, you know, had to change things up there.
I was 90% sure they were killing her off.
I was 90% sure.
We could only hope.
we could only hope.
I mean, did I want
Dwight the baby and her to die
in the tunnel?
Yeah, kind of.
I didn't really want
Dwight to die.
I know.
I didn't want Dwight to die.
I don't want Dwight to die yet.
There was just so much setup.
I just knew Sherry was going to die.
Seriously, I thought it was going to.
I was getting my text to you ready.
Like, ha!
Like, it was already typed out.
But like, when she said,
oh, I didn't check the.
you know, the pregnancy test, I was like, she's dead.
And then like, and then Alicia was like, oh, there's the tunnels, but they're unstable.
I was like, oh, she's so dead.
And I just knew it.
But no.
And it would have been a great death, too, because then she could have died and Dwight could
have found the pregnancy test and realized that she was pregnant when she died and it would
have pissed him off.
And he would have helped fight the tower because that's what caused her death.
Exactly.
my train of thought. What do I know?
Yep. That's like this. We're going to get like old
hardcore Dwight.
Yes. It sounds like it's going to be awesome.
Yes, but I don't want to do that though. I wouldn't want
the writers to do that. No.
No, we still have to leave a pissed out.
But unfortunately here that we've had so much
set up with Dwight and Sherry, especially
with how long you'd been looking for. I don't think they're ready to kill off
Sherry yet.
The whole like, the whole thing of
oh, I'm just doing this so you don't, you know, lose all your humanity and I'm just protecting you.
And I'm like, this was the lady that joined this radical vigilante group, you know, and with the sole purpose of like offing everyone in a 30 mile radius.
What are you talking about?
Like, you're worried about you.
Like, what the heck?
And, you know, I love the, and Morgan.
We didn't end up doing, you know, his plan was he was driving, you know, the herd away as he left the tower, you know,
walkered, you know, the plan was we had to take care of it right now, right? I mean, let's get to it.
Morgan was right on that, but... Well, we think he was right, because when he got the walkers to
the, uh, to the crater, to the crater, there's no, there's nookwakers. There's barely any
nuke walkers because someone let them out. We have no clue who will let them out. I don't think it
was strand like we some eyes before. I really don't think it was strand. I really don't know, man.
I really don't know at this point. I was confused at that. I've been confused about that. And we
do know that he was, Strand
was sending people out and they were getting
heavy doses of radiation. Right.
So that's still a plot hole.
I mean, a few episodes ago,
and I don't remember which one, but we had talked
about it before where Strand had
he was out there on his own, right?
That's when, uh, some of his
Rangers came back already. Yeah.
Well, that was, uh, what you call it's episode.
Well, that was Charlie's episode. Yeah. That was the one of the
few good things of that episode.
What else could that be? If not for like this
secret horror.
that he's got as a weapon.
I don't think so.
Like, I hope, maybe you guys are right.
I don't think so.
Maybe it was Madison.
Madison let the Newk walkers out for some reason, if that's the case.
I mean, okay, maybe, maybe.
And then, you know, we got the, it was, I figured she was pregnant the way she was acting
around the baby.
And, you know, Dwight was being Mr. Dad with the baby in the car wash with the automobile.
Oh, come on. That was a good joke. Thank you.
That was a good joke. I have to say, that was a good joke. I like that joke.
And with the preview, I mean, we had Wes being Wes, right? But with the preview, it appears, though, that Wes is on the double cross, right?
It looked like on the preview that he may be on the double cross.
I don't know. He deserved to die so many times this episode.
Yeah, I can agree there.
like what and i don't even know how all the sudden uh when we you know she ran away from the car wash
Dwight made the great move you know and killed the two other rangers and west was still alive and
then we never saw him get away from west but next thing you know he shows up where sherry's at
at the bunker was just i kept waiting for some explanation or something there was right yeah i'll agree with
that was always fine
Maybe they got away.
Maybe my guess is maybe they did film it and they had to cut it.
I don't know why, but maybe.
I don't know.
It was really weird.
It really weird.
Really, really, really strange.
And then...
We saw the remnants of the Franklin Hotel.
Yeah.
You know, that was kind of cool to see that.
And, you know, Sherry, you know.
That was when they found it because Sherry had just stopped as she was running away.
Oh, I know.
I need to change the baby.
What are you been doing?
and I thought the baby just got changed at the at the at the car wash that's what they were doing you know
set of getting the baby taken care of their whatever you know how ever I got it you guys refresh my
memory why was the Franklin Franklin Hotel like doomsday bunker why is that not used was it
something happened to it or something why is it because that was a leashes bunker remember that was
Teddy's bunker that he that all the Teddy's people I know what it is why is it not
used. Because they left due to
Alicia. They all left because
of Alicia. That's why Arnault hated Alicia.
So
yeah, I'm just curious, like,
they have an irradiated submarine.
They don't know where to go.
Their only option is a big tower that
they have to kill people to get.
And you have a fully stocked
doomsday bunker.
It's like the best thing that you could secure
ever. But it's not an option.
Now it's not an option anymore.
Now it's not an option.
it's not.
It's just kind of ridiculous.
Right.
Why are you sleeping in a submarine when you could just use this and just, hey, the tower?
Screw the tower.
We got a doomsday bunker that was built for like 100 people.
It's fine.
If we were unaware of where it was now because of, you know, the aftermath,
Alicia was gone out, you know, wandering around, playing with herself in the nuke zones
for days or weeks or however she was gone.
I mean, she could have found it, right?
Daryl and DeWite and Sherry just stumble on it.
Oh, yeah, there it is.
Darn.
And didn't half the people in their group now come from that bunker?
Yeah.
Yeah.
They have some idea where it was, right?
Why are we just leaving this build?
I mean, it's like perfect.
It's probably better than the tower for crying out loud.
Just use that.
Because they want to build Padre, everybody.
They want to build Padre.
Well, I mean, although I will say that, you know,
once you're in the bunker, that's where you're at.
Right?
Once you quote me on that.
Once you're in it, you're in it.
Yeah, you have two options, the main entrance and exit.
Hard to argue with it.
Or the pipes.
Or the tunnel, right.
Which, by the way, Jason, want to hear dad, want to hear dad's, a quote from last night?
I would not go in those tunnels.
I would die.
I'm not doing the pipeline.
Sorry, we're going to do something, but I'm not doing the pipeline.
You can make all your jokes about you wouldn't fit.
I got it.
But Dwight and Sherry were sitting in there with a kid.
I think I could have fit.
But I'm just saying I'm not doing that.
No.
It's not going to happen.
Sorry.
And another thing that, I mean, we can.
I don't understand when we had the opportunity to kill off Sherry and make Dwight our madman.
Now we have our main fighting guy.
shipped off on a raft with the baby,
and we're going to not have him there
for the main fight that he's been involved in the entire time.
What?
And he's egging everybody on to do it.
He's like, oh, we got to do it now.
Got to do it now.
Oh, I'm not going to do it, though.
By the way, I'm going to get out of this.
I'm taking it off.
You have to go tonight.
I'm going that way.
Sure, I know you guys keep saying we're under manned and under armed,
but you can do it.
You can do it.
cry for. I'm not going to be with you. I'm with you mentally. I'm behind you 100%.
Well, he was asked to leave. That's that's a con still. That's why would he do that?
That made no, I was thinking the same thing. He was like, he's basically calling Alicia a little bitch.
He's like, stop your whining, stop your complaining.
Go attack, you know, just go do your duty. By the way, I'm taking off.
I'm not going with you. I'm out. Other direction.
I love this little kid and I don't want anything to happen to it and I'm out of here.
This is incredible.
That was, I know, the last scene, I was like, that's like the biggest like letdown or downer ever.
Basically he's like, it was the opposite of like a battle speech like in Braith.
It was like, yeah, we're going to get on, blah, blah, blah.
But I don't really believe in it.
So I'm going to take off in case you fail.
Guys, I think I just, I think I just thought of something.
Do you think you just thought of something?
Yes.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay. That girl that Dwight and Sherry saved.
Oh, yeah, the Maya.
Yeah, Maya.
She said she was just from up north.
I wasn't super irradiated.
But the thing is, so maybe Morgan finds it.
Maybe that's where Madison is.
Morgan might be the one to find Madison.
I think that might be where they're going with this.
My ear started perking up with her when she just,
she was just talking about a group and a boat.
I was like,
there's got to be something else going on with that.
Yeah,
I agree.
And then Morgan left to find out something,
plus he has the baby with her,
him.
But the thing is,
I think this might be where Madison comes in.
Morgan might be the one to find Madison.
So if he finds this group,
then he brings them back.
I mean,
the fight will be over by then, right?
I mean,
at least you'll be dead.
Oh,
darn.
It could be,
something I was I had a similar thought that like when he's can't just be out of this fight
and if he does like go out find some people he could do like the you know the battle of the
bastard scene from game of Thrones when he rides in and you know saves them when they're all
almost all dead right ever I mean he has to right he's our guy you can't just live it was I was
just like what are you doing I agree I agree well it technically makes sense due to a story
point, it's still like really, you're leaving.
And Alicia, you know, you keep saying, and if you've got time, what's wrong?
Yeah, she thinks she's going to die.
She's got the bite.
She's got the hand cut off.
She thinks she's going to die.
So send her in.
Let's go.
Yeah, I thought we did the whole self-help episode, the Tony Robbins, Alicia episode, where
she found herself and found her purpose.
Apparently not, because she's just been roaming the nuclear wasteland, still having these
dreams, still running from them.
That was a quote.
I'm like, what?
Uh-huh.
We forgot the Zen episode?
Like, what's going on?
I still think.
And Max, I got you with the idea that Morgan, you know, is the one to find Madison.
But I still think the scene that we saw of Madison coming back as she was captured, right?
She was being questioned.
Yeah, somewhere.
I still feel like that's the final scene of season seven.
You think that the final scene is...
We teased Madison coming back the whole time, and that's the final scene, and then she's all part of season eight.
We don't even get her at all.
Which is...
Which if I'm a fan of Madison, we may have even talked about this, but if I'm a fan of wanting Madison back on the show, I'm pissed.
You've teased Madison coming back, and now you've given me nothing.
Yeah.
My guess, I've said this before,
season 7, episode 15,
the ending will be that scene
we see in the,
we've seen in the previews,
and then episode 16,
the season finale,
will be All Madison.
That's my theory.
How many episodes do we have left?
What's that?
How many episodes do we have left?
Three, right?
We have 14, 15, and 16.
Dang.
And 15 is their 100th episode.
Oh.
and so that's their, you know, that's their big, we've got 100.
So the final, the season finale is their 101st episode of fear.
So she may, actually, Madison may come back in episode 15, the episode before.
That would be the 100th episode.
A hundred episodes, man.
This show has had some dark, dark times, man.
I mean, their greatest unhits come to mind with this,
man, like, I mean, just think, like, there was one season that was all cowboys versus Indians.
Right.
Literally, cowboys versus Indians.
And, I mean, that's, that's when we lost hubby, too, right?
The Cowboys and Indians.
Do we lose Hubby in that season?
I thought that was City.
Can't remember.
With the helicopter, right?
Yeah.
The helicopter crash.
Wasn't he, wasn't that out in the cowboy and Indian days?
I don't.
Probably.
Because the end of season three was the dam.
And then season four starts up with Morgan
And then they're at the stadium
And then we had Metro Negan
Which was just awful
The most unscary villain in this universe ever
What do you mean? He had an RV
He had silk like silk sequiny shirts
You know he's sitting in his like
Lawn chair
No weapons really
They were just like hey can you not be out there
And he's like no we're just going to sit
We're not going to attack you
We're just going to sit here and like
you know look all menacing you know it's like oh yeah this is because Charlie was a part of them
Charlie was a part of them yeah they had snuck Charlie it originally our weapons are jazz hands
that's what we are boo well you better not dirty this raffle around I've had this for quite
some time well you have to get they did they did destroy the they did destroy the stadium yeah they did
yeah they did have the uh they did have the uh the motorcycles right the the the
the little and the four little out the four wheelers yeah yeah yeah but you're right uh when you think
menacing you think of him you think of him yeah it's honestly the best fear villain teddy easy
yeah i guess although strand is turning into one agreed strand is going to find this next episode
you know the episode 14th is divine providence and they say as the battle for the tower heats up
Alicia brings the fight to Strand's door.
Well, yeah, that's what she's supposed to be doing.
And the point of leaving those walkers away was to get there now.
Because once Strand turns the light on, the walkers will be attracted back to the tower.
One of the worst scenes that, okay, one of the hardest scenes for me not to just crack up and roll my eyes over.
But I failed because I cracked up and rolled my eyes.
Is when she's walking away and she's like, follow me, guys.
I was like, oh my gosh, shut up.
Oh, you found yourself again, I guess.
Now they can follow you.
Follow me, guys.
As Morgan, as Morgan floats away.
As he floats away.
And everyone's like, yeah, sure, let's follow her.
I guess.
What about our main man, Morgan?
Yeah, he's gone.
He's leaving.
He has no faith in this assault whatsoever,
even though he just spent half the episode saying it's got to happen tonight.
Right.
It has to happen today.
Has to happen today.
That was the point of leading.
those walkers away. That was the point of
Alicia and Morgan
just chatting on the road
as the herd of walkers are coming
up on him. We've got to do this today.
We've got to lead them today. It's got to be
tonight. It has to be tonight.
Why would Alicia do it?
Because she doesn't think it's the time.
Morgan's gone. Why couldn't she just say
after saying, follow me guys? Just like take
them somewhere and just hang out,
prepare some more.
You know what? We can't. We can't.
We'll try to get back.
to the sub.
Yeah.
I try to get into the sub.
Even though it's leaking
radiation.
And I will consult some more
nightmares before I
advise this final plan.
And she didn't even take
her weapon back.
No, she let Sherry keep it.
Yeah, now you keep that.
What?
Well, she is
one-handed.
It's your stupid muffler.
Is you kidding me?
It's a barrel.
It's a, it's a gun barrel.
It's a muffler.
I agree, though.
We all thought it was a muffler.
We all thought it was a muffler.
We all thought it was a muffler until the seed where, until the seed were got ripped off the machine gun.
I never thought it was a muffler.
Just that way.
I never.
I'm not included in the we all thought.
You made the jokes too.
I am so.
And it still is a muffler.
You can't brew it.
Well, we can.
There's evidence.
So anyway.
I still think that Wes is going to double cross.
He's being, his character has to die.
I mean, I'm tired of him.
I'm over it.
I'm over his, you know, I really believed that we were, you know,
going to be changed for the better.
Look around, bro.
Okay, we can change for the better after we survive.
Yeah, he's got to be doing a double cross
because his thought process just does not make any sense.
It's the most idiotic thing ever.
So basically he was like,
I like these people because they were not evil,
you know,
and they had a different way that wasn't evil.
But now I'm going with this guy because at least he's honest about being evil.
Right.
And twice he had an opportunity to be killed.
And he just,
you know,
fell off a horse and they got away.
And then he got into a wrestling match in a car wash and he got away.
What?
Yeah.
Okay. All right.
He used to go back to painting or whatever because he's not doing this whole zombie apocalypse stuff.
Yeah, Wes still is in the bunker, but I feel like he's going to take the tunnel out too, right?
He's going to sneak out the tunnel. He'll survive.
Oh, he is because, yeah, he was in the preview for the next show.
Yeah. And he was, and he was so, and he was in the back part of the bunker.
So, you know, where the walkers were not at yet.
So, you know, he'll find the tunnel and get out of there.
Absolutely.
Yeah. At least because they've already left, right? They've gone and they've shipped Morgan off and you'll, we'll either see it or he'll mention it that he found the tunnel and got out. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. I'm all on board on what Max said. I think that, yeah, him writing in Battle of Bastard style with like of this new group would be kind of cool. And Madison, remember this. That's my theory. I don't think Madison's going to be a part of it.
I don't know.
Season 7, episode 15, Madison returns.
That is my prediction.
I mean, we have what we have, the Providence,
well, where they bring the fight to Strand's door.
So we're not even, we're just going to end the episode with them at the tower.
And then we go into, as Survivors, the 100th episode, right?
This is the episode 15, right?
is the 100th episode.
Survivors prepare to escape the area by raft.
Alicia turns back to save one more person trapped in the fallout.
So that means that they don't take the tower, right?
They're still, they've turned and put the tail between their legs and run away.
Or maybe they did take the tower.
I don't know.
Blow it up or something.
Oh, maybe the tower is no more.
After that, we don't.
Oh, that's possible.
Maybe they destroy the tower.
and then the boat people show up and they all hop the raft the rafts and float away that's
isn't there isn't there still like a react or like a unexploded weapon or something like that yeah one of the one of
the the raping naked walker guy that died he had one right what happened to that
what he yeah he had one was it at the boatyard or did you have it someplace else oh me
I don't know.
The warhead he used, I know he used parts of it to, like, put on those walkers that were bombs, remember?
Oh, yeah.
I thought that was separate from the...
No, that was part of the warhead.
That was part of the warhead, because when they blew up, there was radiation.
It was heavily implied and basically said that, no, he took parts of the warhead and used the...
I didn't realize you could just take little chips off the warheads and put them on people for separate little bombs.
Duh.
Oh, sorry.
I apologize.
I'm not a military expert.
I didn't realize that.
Well,
we learned that in shop class
in high school.
What you're talking about?
I don't think any of us here are nuclear.
I'm just saying,
I don't think any of us here are nuclear scientists.
It's a bit different.
But you know who is a nuclear scientist?
Grace.
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah.
I just had to pull that up.
She's still wandering or wanging around, right?
She's at the sub.
No, Grace is at the tower.
Tower, yeah.
Oh yeah, because she was
You're thinking of Luciana
Luciano was trying to get everyone
out of the cell
Which she got everyone out of the sub no
Grace
Wendell and June
are still at the tower
And Charlie's dying
And we did get a little bit of a
Mo Moe at the raft
Her name's Sarah
Whatever
And then the truck driver
And we saw in the preview
That wheelchair boy
Is part of the next episode
At some point in the town
So, I mean, I cannot believe that he is still alive.
Well, you bring that up every time.
I cannot believe he's still alive.
No, I won't believe it.
I'm sorry, we're done.
I'm not going to be happy with the show until he dies.
Even though you actually, in the beginning, you like his character.
I do like it, but, you know, it's a sad day when he dies, but he's got to die.
The table read for those two characters has got to be so depressing.
So for Momo, like, she's like, she'll have like one reference in the script.
where she's like, okay, she, Sarah walks through the shot, says something annoying and everyone
looks at her and kind of fakes a chuckle. That's it. That's all you get this episode.
What's his name, Wendell? You sit in the background and look incredibly worthless because you are
incredibly worthless. Scene and scene. Prior to the, just as the scene is ending, roll into it.
Okay. That's it. We're good. I don't understand. That's just me.
They had a big part at one point when they were trying to get the truck the truck place.
I remember that.
And then they helped out in the Jenny.
I know.
I got it.
I'll be big.
I know.
And we're supposed to.
I'm all for, you know, the hiring of handicapped employees.
Don't, I mean, I'm all for it.
100%.
I got.
It should be considered in that area.
It's supposed to be the end of the world.
We're in the, we're in a fight for our lives.
And they came on when like, they were.
adding interesting characters, like, you know, John Dory and like somewhat like interesting characters.
Like they were making really, when Morgan came in.
Really good hires.
And we're like, yeah, okay, this is, this is getting better.
We're moving away from Madison, all that stupid crap.
Yes.
And then they were delivering the boxes, right?
Yeah.
With the semi, right?
Yeah, that was their deal, right?
They were delivering the boxes to help people.
And I think they were supposed to be like the comedic relief or whatever.
And they were supposed to be bigger parts.
They are good characters.
they realized that it just didn't work.
It didn't work.
But they were not good characters.
They were not good characters.
They were annoying.
But if they realized that,
I mean,
we're already too far out,
well,
we can't fire them.
But they could kill them.
That's the point of the show.
Yeah,
we're going to have to kill you off.
And obviously,
Al's not here anymore,
which sucks.
Yes,
but she's still alive.
Oh,
she's still alive.
She's going to be.
For a girl.
Or she's living with her girlfriend
at the beach house,
or at the lake house.
at the cabin that they actually mentioned in World Beyond.
That was a fun.
That was actually really interesting there.
But Al's probably going to be part of the movies whenever they happen.
Oh, here we go.
That's not going to happen.
Okay.
Final thoughts, Mr. Boucherl.
This is a hard final thoughts.
It wasn't a good, great episode, but it wasn't a bad episode.
No, I'll agree with that.
It wasn't bad.
It was just like, you would hope that the tip.
stereotypes we have for some of their characters that are annoying to us they wouldn't
keep jabbing them in the face in our faces with a knife and that's sherry they just keep doing it
and so that's just annoying that made this episode really annoying to me uh but i mean yeah and and and in the
ending with with uh morgan was just didn't make sense bizarre i don't know i only think missing in this
episode and I understand
why we didn't do it. But I was
actually, when she pulled out the pregnancy
test, I thought, she's not going to pee

to say too. We had an appearance of
Daniel this episode.

a judge from the English
monarch.
He cut his wig.

He didn't say a word
this episode, he was just there.

apocalypse. Morgan, you're now banned.

Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, and myself, Jeff Fisher.
