Season 7, Episode 14, titled Divine Providence.
I think I liked it.
That makes this Talking Walking Dead, Fear, the Walking Dead edition.
Welcome to it, myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchel, Maximus Fisher.
Episode description on IMDB, as the battle for the tower heats up, Alicia brings the fight to Strand's door.
And it starts off with, you know, Strand's morning routine and then the gang shows up at the phone box.
And love ensues after that.
I think I enjoyed it.
Overall, I think I enjoyed it.
Is this where I'm supposed to say, I think I enjoyed it too?
No, this is where you're supposed to say, you're right, Jeff.
I don't know if I've ever said that, ever.
Yeah, I don't think I like it.
it, which is weird. I mean, there was, there was parts that were some of the action was kind of cool and there was just things constantly happening. And I was into that, but there was just so much dumb stuff that had me going, what? Like, so can I just come right off with the first thing? Well, okay, so the first thing was, you know, inviting Alicia in. I was like, it was good. This seems dumb. I thought it was okay. I was like, this seems kind of dumb. I don't see Alicia that she'd even fall for it. You know what's going to happen. But then when she,
So number one thing where I was like, this is dumb, was when she turns Terminator and then takes out like four dudes out of nowhere.
Like she turned into the Jackie, like a, like a, the love child of Jackie Chan and the Terminator.
Takes out like four dudes and kidnap Strand.
I was like, come on, dude.
Seriously?
But it was just one after the next of things like that that had me going, okay.
This is like a cartoon.
Max of us up.
Go ahead.
I'll get to it.
It was okay.
I actually agree with both of you.
There were scenes I really liked, and there were scenes I thought were kind of dumb.
But I think both of you are correct.
I guess I stand in the middle there.
Well, I find, right, we find that the love affair, even if it's just the mental love affair of Strand and Alicia still holds strong.
So if you go with that premise, then some of the scenes,
that, you know, you take as, come on now, were better because of the love affair, right?
They're, they're, they're not romantically involved, obviously, but it's not that type of love.
Oh, I don't know.
I mean, Strand might take care of a little leash of business.
I don't think so.
I really don't think so.
No, I don't think so either, but I just, you know, she was still wearing the medallia.
And it was, you know, he still has that.
I mean, they've been at it from the, you know, darn.
near the very beginning, right?
So.
Yeah.
So what's that guy's, what's the guy's name?
The turncoat, the, Wes.
Wes.
Wes.
So it's like they want us to think kind of like Wes in a way about Strand.
Like they, like, and they even, in Strand even made a comment in the show like, this is just who I am.
You know, and like, you know, you got to love me for who I am.
That's not a direct quote, but basically that's what he said.
Pretty close when he was talking to a listener, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, I mean.
No, like, I don't accept that this is a character that I like because he's a douchebag.
And he's a douchebag time and time again.
He's always just thinking about himself and he always goes his own.
It's like, it's like, what's her name?
What's her name?
Dwight's chick that we don't know.
Sherry?
Sherry.
It's like, they just want us to accept that, oh, well, she's constantly going to go our own way and screw Dwight over.
But she just love her for it.
No, I don't love her for it.
I hate her for it.
And Strand, we know, like, every plot line where Strand is the main bad guy or a big part of the plot line, you know what he's in do?
He's like, yeah, he's just, he's lying.
He's into his own thing.
And then at the end, you're like, oh, he was, it was for the greater goods, who the guys.
No, I'm tired of it.
I don't, I don't like any plot around him anymore.
Just don't.
I was really surprised.
I thought maybe we'd lose him.
I thought so, too.
I thought we were going to lose, we were going to lose Strand.
Which I would, you know, I'm not opposed to.
to. I know he's one of the big
characters and the strong suits of the
show, but I'm not opposed to
losing him. But what do they do
it instead? It looks like they're redeeming him.
Which is bull crap.
He's not redeemable.
I don't know that. I don't know that Daniel
lets that happen though, right?
We, we
Holy cow. Holy cow.
I would have burned this show to the
ground had they killed up, my boy,
Daniel. So when Daniel came in
and shot the two guys,
next to Wes and Wes shot him this guy was like no no don't you dare don't you
pointing at the TV it would not happen I should have recorded it was the greatest
Daniel should have first of all you know then the whole thing was set around getting Daniel
wounded but you know he should have I'm surprised that West didn't die then except we had to
get him to the to the end point of Strand taking him out which was a great scene
No, no question.
You cheered when that happened.
I did.
The two things on that scene,
I was,
I kind of had me laughing.
One,
zero,
zero attention in that scene.
You knew nobody of the main characters were going to die.
Like,
she was all closing her eyes,
like accepting.
I was like,
okay,
this is dumb.
The entire world knows you're not going to die.
Something's going to happen.
At least,
I mean,
the entire world in my world,
I was sitting there saying,
Daniel's going to come and save the day.
Yeah,
You're right.
But on that, the second thing that had me laughing was, so he gets shot, Alicia's like,
Are you okay?
And Daniel's holding the area over his heart.
I know.
He's got a bullet wound over his heart.
And he's good.
I'm fine.
He doesn't have it over his heart.
Once it zooms in, it's over his collarbone.
I know, but his hand was across his chest.
So you thought it was.
As soon as it zooms in on him, it's the collarbone.
I get Dr.
Dr. Maximus.
It was like, it was not an okay wound.
You're like, yeah, that's.
As an emergency room medical
I know where the bullets
exactly exact pain. I did love
that was another, I guess, really kind of an
agonizing scene which she did turn and said,
are you okay? I just, no, I just been shot.
What are you talking about?
Are you out of your mind?
Jason, what were you like when Strand
skewered less?
Oh, when he stabbed him?
Yeah.
Yeah, it was good, right?
I mean, heck yeah.
Awesome.
Let's do it.
Let's end it.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
I find it.
The West thing, though, is it did kind of surprise me because I was thinking he couldn't be that dumb.
I kept thinking he was playing 3D chess or 40 chess or something.
I thought so, too.
I thought the coup was going to be a, you know, a double coup.
Yeah.
And it was all in there.
I thought that, too.
And guess what?
He was that dumb.
Right.
I'm surprised they actually killed him off.
That's the one thing I was genuinely somewhat surprised about.
Well, I mean, good, or at least we're killing somebody off?
Yeah.
I mean, let's go.
Oh, we just killed John Dory, Sr.
We had everybody in the show except for, we only talked about June, right?
She must be on a Mexican vacation or something.
We saw her.
We saw her when they came out, but that's about it.
We did.
Yeah, I think she was just part of the group.
Okay.
There were some characters that did show up where you're like, where have you been the entire season?
Like the rabbi?
The rabbi.
Yeah, he showed up one scene.
I was like, oh, he's here.
That actor's got to be pissed because he's like a legit actor.
And he just, he's brought out for one line of dialogue.
He just walks out and that's it.
Like, what?
If I'm, if I'm the rabbi, I'm like, well, I'll make a few extra bucks at Comic Con for the next 20 years.
So it's all good.
I'm not even wasting my time if I'm him.
I'm like, I mean, that's just kind of insulting.
I got to go to Georgia this week.
No, Texas.
Texas.
You're filming.
And I think they're moving, right?
They're moving to Virginia or something.
Yeah.
They're not going to take it out of Texas.
Anyway.
They're moving to Georgia, I think.
They're moving back to Georgia, which is interesting.
Well, I mean, that would make sense.
I mean, Alexandria is being taken down now.
Yeah, that's true.
And they've already got all that property there.
That's probably all there, so let's just go there.
Makes sense.
We had a great scene that I'm betting a lot of people genuinely liked, and you didn't,
is the reunion of Sarah and Wendell.
I mean, we're out there running from Newk walkers.
Okay.
So I'm going to premise this again at this show.
All right.
No one loves the handicapped people more than me.
I am a fan of the handicapped parking.
I'm a fan of anybody that gets a blue tag hanging from the mirror.
You could be considered one, but.
Oh, thank you.
However, I would as, if I was the human being in the wheelchair during the dead assault,
I would figure I'm done.
And I'm over.
You guys, go ahead.
I'm good.
All right.
Don't worry about pushing me through the dirt.
But they do.
They do, man.
And why they pushed him out there as part of the warning party, I have no idea.
Right.
That's like the prime exit case where you're like, hey, Wendell, you want to hang back here saying?
We're going to go, we're going to send two really fast people to warn them really quick.
But no, that's not what they do.
They roll him out there as part of the warning, the secret ninjas to warn them.
What?
I don't.
I know.
I know.
I don't understand.
Whatever.
I do understand, actually.
and it drives me insane to understand it.
So then we had,
we had Daniel and Charlie,
which might be the reason Daniel is better,
which you know,
I like that idea.
Now,
I thought maybe,
I thought originally maybe that Daniel would buy that Charlie was Ophelia
in his weakened mental state.
But he didn't.
But he didn't.
However,
it did refocus him.
And I,
that makes me happy.
You know,
I liked his death scene with
handcuffs. I liked him coming to the rescue to kill Wes and his fellow coup members,
although, you know, he didn't kill Wes, took Strand to do that. But he came to rescue them
and saved their lives. And so hopefully with his time with Charlie dying,
refocuses Daniel. I'm a fan of that, absolutely, which makes me think that he will never
trust Strand, right? A well-thinking Daniel.
He doesn't want to make that happen.
Who would?
Who would?
I'm with you there, Jason.
Who would?
That's why I don't understand how they're going to redeem him.
I don't get it.
Unless they just hope we all just go along and just play like, you know, unless they're just saying F you, just go along with it.
This is what we're doing.
I guess is the only thing I can think of.
I guess what we're going to find.
I mean, we're going to find out, right?
I mean, the tower is going to fall because Alicia and Strand are stupidos.
Stupidos.
and breaking the
beacon and starting everything on fire.
Just turning it off would have been the best option
instead of burning down the thinking top of the tower.
Right.
I mean, it didn't make any sense.
I mean, it makes sense on the storyline.
But we still have that to worry about, right?
We still have to worry about the tower burning
and them getting out of there, which is maybe how.
And her calling everybody saying Padre is here.
Right.
Dude.
See, okay, and that was the ultimate,
this show sucks,
moment when you realize that this whole thing was for nothing and the tower's burning down.
Like what was the entire what was the whole point that Strand to understand what makes
Strand tick? I don't care. He's a douchebag. We know what makes him dig. He's a douchebag.
That was like the entire point of the show this season. I don't get like so how much better it would
have been if it doesn't burn down Alicia puts that thing on top of the tower like she was doing
and it gets the attention of the CRM.
And then we have that whole dynamic moving into the next part of the season.
That would have been awesome.
They could tease some Rick stuff.
They could tease some other stuff.
It'd have been great.
Instead, we have them sending out a message, the tower burning down,
and the reason her sending out the message is what gets us to Madison, right?
That's my guess.
I know.
I wish the audience could see my freaking face right now.
You can feel it.
Now, we're getting Morgan next episode.
We saw that in the promo.
We're getting Morgan next episode out.
There's two episodes left.
Yep.
Next episode's the 100th episode of Fear the Walking Dead.
Yay.
So do we get Madison partially in this next episode?
And then the final episode of the season is all Madison.
You know what I wish they would do?
And this is probably not what they're doing, but this is what I wish they would do.
like as you pointed out they're already
they're moving production out of Texas
over to Georgia. So it gets them
closer to the
the original Walking Dead crew.
I wish they would just
do what they did when they brought Morgan over.
They got rid of Madison, you brought in Morgan.
You're bringing Madison back. Just take Morgan back
to the other show. You've already got an avenue
for it. Take him back to the
mothership show and have him link up with our group.
I think that would be awesome. Then you could have Morgan
maybe being part of some of the
spin-off shows and stuff, you know, like,
I wish they would do that.
I just want to disassociate.
With Madison coming back, I want to disassociate any good characters from the show.
Well, the thing is, though, they already, Dead's wrapped.
Dead's wrapped already.
No, I know, dead's wrapped.
But that would give them an avenue to get onto some of the spin-off show.
I agree with you, but in love with Daryl.
There's no Daryl and Carol now.
Daryl and Morgan on the special mission to Europe would be freaking insane.
Stuff like that.
That would be cool.
I'm with you there.
That would be sick.
That still could happen.
though, right? I mean, technically
that still could happen.
They could, at least
maybe next season,
Morgan could say,
look, I can't do this
whole Madison thing. All right,
I'm out of here. I'll talk to you later.
We have one issue, though, that they have
to address. One little
issue. What is that? Timeline.
Jason,
Dad, the time
of fear right now is
technically, I believe,
close to a few months
to a year after
the bridge incident with Rick
meaning that there's still about
seven to nine years of
fear in timeline-wise
before it catches up to dead
it's okay
you can uh you can
cast a new actress as the baby
put a few gray hairs on
Morgan
took him a lot of walk down no I know I'm just saying
that's the one issue that we'd have to deal with
that timeline could still happen because if you
They've already made jumps before.
So they, they, you get the timeline at the end of what Madison shows up the end of this season.
Season eight, you get, uh, halfway through you get, uh, you have the time jump.
You know, you start time jumping through season eight.
So by the end of eight, Morgan is out of there and he catches and he's like, I'm going, I'm out.
I'm going to go see what my man, Rick is doing.
we already know Rick is gone.
He doesn't.
I want to see what my man Rick is doing.
And then he catches up for the Daryl and Morgan show.
Daryl and Morgan.
I love it.
You know what?
Because why else,
like Morgan is clearly the best character on fear.
But they've been diminishing his role.
Dwight too, though.
I like Dwight as well,
although Sherry has really deballed him.
Yeah.
I don't understand why they're de-emphasizing Morgan.
They're elevating Alicia above Morgan and now bringing back Alicia's mother as well.
Right. What room is there for Morgan? He's a leader. He's not like one of these like, oh, I'll just follow what these, you know, two chicks are doing or saying. Right. You brought him over for that purpose. And now you've put him on a raft and shipped him off with some baby.
Doesn't make sense. But he's not leaving, at least at the moment, because we know, we know for a fact he's in the next episode because of the promo. So what are they going to do with him?
Well, that's the thing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, in the future, especially now that.
What's your face is coming back?
You're real.
You are.
The thing is, Jason, you're going to love this.
We were fast-forwarding through commercials because we started a bit late.
And when we were fast-forwarding through commercials, the Madison one popped up.
The thing is, we thought that the show, like, we had got past the commercials and the show started,
and it started right when Madison shows up.
So dad's face when we saw that dropped.
His face like dropped.
Like, like, I've been dreading the moment and she comes back.
And like he thought it had happened.
He thought it had finally happened.
She showed back up and his face dropped.
It didn't.
It was a promo for the season in general.
And now they're really screwed.
Okay.
I mean, that aside.
I mean, we have to put up with her coming back.
We know that.
But that aside.
Now that the tower is burning down, and we've already sent out the alarm for the nuke walkers,
and we've sent out the alarm for other humans that want to be alive.
I mean, with miracles aside, and it's going to have to be a miracle, right?
There's no way for them to get out.
The nuke walkers are going to, you can't just walk up and kill those like normal.
You can't cover yourself in goo and walk through them.
I mean, that's a tough battle.
I don't know how you get over that.
I really don't.
I don't know how you get over that.
I don't either.
CRM helicopter.
I don't know.
Yeah.
You got some kind of flamethrower or something, right?
You have to.
That would be kind of cool.
What's her name comes back?
Al.
Al, yeah.
And the helicopter.
That'd be kind of dope.
Yeah, it would be.
It probably won't happen, but it's got to be with whatever Morgan is doing and whoever he's meeting up with.
They're going to provide something.
Yeah, because we had that one chick, right?
The Maya or whatever name was that came out of nowhere.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, actually, funny enough, speaking of Al, the promo for next week, we saw the MRAP.
Yeah.
The MRAPs in the next episode.
Oh, really?
I forgot all about the MRAP.
It's just been sitting there, I guess.
It's just been sitting there.
I don't know why.
There's always plenty of gasoline.
Yeah.
Where's the MRAP?
It's next to the gasoline.
all the batteries for all the walkie-talkies that we use right everything it's all right there
it's fired up we've got the elevators and everything running off of it it's all good
the um i did like the the whole time when uh from time of time when they were when west was
confronted with uh strand and alicia and they all they get they all get into their
monologing modes which is insane i just want that's when i want to that's what i want to
them to put a bullet in their head.
I feel like we're back to the Incredibles again.
Oh, you got to be monologuing.
Just put a bullet in their head and be done with it.
That's funny.
It's crazy.
So anyway, we have the 100th episode next week, which is all those survivors
prepare to escape the area by raft.
Alicia turns back to save one more person trapped in the fallout.
So speaking, just that's the, that's the.
description for next week's episode,
which is the 100th episode
of Fear of the Walking Dead.
Congratulations.
So if
as far as I know,
I don't know how many rafts we have, but there's,
I mean, hello,
we just all of a sudden we're going to have
50 rafts to float down
the Potomac. Okay.
All right. Fine.
And what's Alicia?
You know, five minutes.
She's killing people as a Terminator.
then I'm sick and pass out.
Yeah.
I want to punch?
Are you kidding me?
Come on now.
Yeah, she couldn't make it up the stairs.
Right.
Oh, Strand.
Oh, no.
And I'll help you.
I can't.
I can't.
It was little things like that the entire episode.
They just really got on my nerves.
But yeah, I guess narrative-wise was the biggest thing for me.
I just, but then again, the potential that it could have,
that I know the writers aren't going to go.
So it just pisses me off all the more.
Are we saying that,
so we're saying that the 100th episode
isn't going to be the one that Madison comes back?
Is that what we're saying?
I think so.
Yeah,
I think so.
That wouldn't be surprising.
And that's the midseason finale?
It's all right?
No.
There's two episodes left until the season finale,
not midseason.
Oh, the season.
That's right.
That's right.
Huh.
Yeah, so I mean, this is episode,
next week is episode 15,
and then 16 is the season.
So, but again, next week is the 100th.
So that would make it.
At least they would be, well, we brought her back, you know, a couple episodes in the final half of the season.
Not, we didn't just tease her and just bring her back for two seconds because that's what I read a couple weeks ago.
I thought, you know what?
The promo we saw is going to be all we get of her this season.
And then, you know, we have to wait for season eight for it to be all her again, which.
which will be great
which will be great
that's how I feel about that.
The sucky thing is we don't have any dories anymore
except June
and heck I have to agree with some people
going like a big part of her storyline
if she was going to come back
would have been Charlie
because Alicia doesn't want Charlie to die
but Madison doesn't have the context of it
all she would find out is Charlie killed Nick
and a lot of people are complaining that
oh now that Charlie is dying she'll either
die before Madison shows up or she's dying
when Madison shows up
right
and hopefully
by that time
Daniel will you know
maybe maybe
we accidentally rub
some nuke goo
on Daniel and it kills his
it kills whatever disease he has
and he's back to being himself again
I thought that was just the whole Charlie thing
Either way. I want Daniel back. I'm done with this little...
We got a good chunk of him this episode. We got...
Hey, look, we did get badass Daniel this episode. Remember the staircase scene?
I already told you that I'm an emergency room physician. Oh, wait, that was Max.
Oh, yeah, that's... No, I just rub some new goo on him. It'll be fine.
Remember the room of the staircase? You love the staircase scene with a tear gas?
I did, yeah, and Wes did his little tear gas, Victor. You know, I love it. I love it. I love it. I
look at's tear gas and Victor
when he was up top and it was surprising
too, which made me
think that Wes was a
double crossing
coup attemptee.
It was amazing how fast
the Rangers were on Wes's side
against Strand. I thought the same thing.
I did think that too. Yeah.
I don't think that would have happened. I mean,
Wes, I mean, West doesn't
seem or didn't ever come to
cross as like the guy that could
convince all these guys to go against
the main guy like that so bad the outsider that could be a spy they're not really sure but i guess
he gave one of his great monologues about i thought he was you know a guy good a guy behind the
guy you know shut up right up apparently that worked though yes it did it did work for a while
anyway so we'll see uh we'll see the fall of the tower and perhaps the re-emergence
of Madison next week, something to look forward to.
Jason Betrell, you know what?
I want to ask you something.
Yep.
I did that on purpose, and you didn't even flinch.
Mm.
By pronouncing your name wrong?
So how often does that happen?
It must happen a lot.
I've been conditioned, and my boss, still to this day, can't say my name, right?
Which is absolutely insane.
Absolutely amazing.
You should have heard the pronunciations when I was in boot camp.
they were really okay hey but yeah this is gonna be but ashtrill was one of the funniest
i think i actually had me a lot okay jason to our audience would you like to pronounce your name
correctly for the entire audience so they know how to say your name it don't matter max it don't
matter it look we'll call whatever the hell we want thank you for listening to talking walking dead
and we'll see you next week right here on talking walking dead and if you're listening to this is
not a subscriber to chewing the fat what are you doing with your life
okay it's free just subscribe thanks for listening to talking walking dead we'll see you next week
