Season 7, episode 15, titled Amina.
It should have been titled, I don't know.
Maybe that's what the title should have been.
I don't know.
Alicia, really?
Anyway, this is talking.
Welcome to Talking Walking Dead Fear Edition.
Welcome to it.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchell, and Maximus Fisher.
IMDB description, as the survivors prepare to escape the area by RAP,
Alicia turns back to save one more person trapped in the tower or trapped in the fallout is the IMDB description.
I was actually I'm surprised that they kept it secret this long, but the entire episode was, you know, kind of agonizing.
Just I mean, all they did was, it was what three times we're saving Alicia, dragging her out, right?
three times.
Oh, God.
Let me just tell you my notes.
The very top note is,
and it's another dream walking episode.
This time upgraded with an Alicia pass-out counter.
I know.
Two, three, four.
The freaking episode ends with one.
I was like, stop passing out.
It's stupid.
Just stop passing out.
Yeah.
Even I was like, for a hundredth episode,
this was kind of odd.
I'm usually I'm all in for the dream like a trippy stuff
I'm usually all in for that but the way they did it this episode was just odd
it was so funny it was like okay now we're moving to another plot point
and she passed out then now she gets up just like oh I'm gonna do this
and she passes out I'm like uh
guys this is just dumb this is dumb we've got to we've got to go we've got to get away from
here no I can't we have to no I can't we have to yes
I'm right.
Fine.
You know what?
Talk to you later.
Why even bother arguing with her anymore?
She's going to wake up from a pass-out.
Let me guess.
You're going to argue with me and you're going to go off on your own.
Okay.
Can we save five minutes?
Then we're going to have one segment where we all talk you out of it and then, no, you talk us back into it.
We're going to go with you and we're going to take you right to the gate.
But then you're going to talk us out on going the rest of the way.
You're going to go by yourself.
Are you kidding?
I was waiting for her at that one point because you could see it in her face and she was going to be like, guys, plot twist.
Now I'm going to send you away and I'm going at it alone.
You never saw that coming, right?
Boom!
You never see it coming.
Oh, man.
And, you know, to have it be, you know, her.
Okay, I got, we had to say this.
Who knew?
No one knew this was Alicia Denham Carey's final episode.
Yeah, it was really surprising.
They kept that locked tight.
Well, okay, they kept, okay.
That's actually been out for a week, but they kept that locked down pretty tightly because when they, so I watched, I watch this on the AMC Plus.
Right.
And they have like a big commentary at the end.
And they didn't even say that until the end of the, the commentary was like over five minutes.
They didn't say that till the very final couple minutes of the commentary that, oh yeah, by the way, this is her last episode.
Right.
And then it makes the episode all the more.
infuriating.
Yes.
All the more.
And the hubris on
these show creators.
They were like, yes.
We want the
audience to be confused on
is this little girl real?
Or is this a dream sequence?
Everyone, everyone that's not a
moron knew that.
Thank you.
You knew this was little Alicia.
We've talked about it before.
When she first showed up in the
when the little girl first showed
up in the music episode, which I genuinely liked that episode.
You two both were like, oh, it's probably hers little girl.
That's your prediction.
Had to have been.
And I was thinking, that makes too much sense.
I think I said this.
Anybody listening, go back and quote me on this.
I think I actually said, that makes too much sense.
Let's see if it's something different.
I was just agonizing.
And then, at the end, when we were all done last night,
Max, what do you think?
And I'll save it for the show.
But at the very, my gut reaction, I was pissed.
Yeah.
The whole thing.
The whole time we, we, the, the, the, the put up of Madison coming back was to have us roped into,
okay, we're good with Madison coming back.
She's going to see Alicia.
And everything, you know, then they're going to, you know, partner up and we're going to have
a new world order.
Nope
Not gonna happen
That's I went to
Some YouTube content creators
That do like these videos
And I will concede to point to Max
There are multiple of them
That do want to see Madison come back
I told you
To come back
But that's what I'm telling you Max
I'm conceding to you this fact
You don't have to say I told you
That is true
But what I said is also true
Those people are idiots
Right
Just because they do YouTube videos
does not make them less of a moron for liking Madison.
They are morons, but they were pissed.
Oh, no, everybody was pissed, I saw.
Most people were pissed.
They were like, they were like, let's just throw this season away.
I can't believe the writers do this.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, why bring Madison back and just give a giant, so it's an FU,
we've been saying that to the fans for bringing her back at the very end of this season.
Right.
I mean, Matt, I mean, I was hoping what Max said was right that we would get her in this episode.
Didn't even get in this episode.
We didn't.
We got the old recording we saw back in season four.
So dumb, man.
Yeah, we got the MRAP recording.
That's right.
So it's a bigger F you to the fan base that actually even like Madison to not give them that reunion.
Why wouldn't you?
Unless something catastrophic happened behind the scenes.
That's the only thing I can think of.
Something catastrophic.
Well, I feel like.
That's very possible, right?
That is very possible.
And, you know, she, it seemed like in her post that she was, you know, sad about leaving but had to make the choice.
I'm not sure.
And maybe it was AMC money.
Maybe it was.
I mean, I don't know because she's, you know, I'm sure she's coming to the table now saying, you know, I need cash.
You know, I need the cash trucks backing up for me to be doing this show.
I've been doing it for seven, eight years.
It's time.
And, you know, she just signed a new deal, right?
The first couple weeks ago was announced that she was moving to that St.
X show on Hulu that had a big fallout.
They had a huge fallout for that show.
So, Hulu had to have gone to her and said, okay, we had this big problem.
The whole thing fell apart down in the Dominican.
And we need you.
And here's the money truck.
Yeah.
I had to have been.
Like, the thing is with Rick's final episode, say what you will about season nine, even though I thought it was a good season or like Rick leaving, which we all think might have been a bit of a mistake on Andrew Lincoln's part.
But say what you will about Rick's final episode, season nine, episode five.
Watch that episode by itself.
It's a good episode.
It has a good writing.
It has good plot.
Even Jason agreed with this when we watched that episode.
Yeah.
And no question.
Still, this whole thing.
This episode was just weird.
And we've got, you know, I will say this,
that I know we are suspending some reality
in our Walking Dead world.
I got it.
But, I mean,
I'd like to know where we've got the power for the walkies
that never go out.
They just lose,
they just lose the signal from time to time.
Well, the walkie with the little girl was the dream thing,
so you have to dismant that.
And Alicia goes off at the end where she wakes up and she was, you know, miraculously cured.
I guess the sand on the beach.
Maybe she was bitten by a crab or something that gave her some healing medicine.
Crabbs don't bite the claw.
After she passes out on the beach, you know, she, after she told Strand, Victor, I didn't save you so you could live to do what I couldn't.
I did it because I love you too.
Okay.
I love you too.
here's a wave goodbye for my raft.
And that ending where she
wakes up and feels better
miraculously and I was like, please
don't give an open-ended
goodbye. Yes. And not definitive.
And it's so ballless.
It's so ballless.
They're doing the same thing that they did in Madison.
It's like, oh, well, okay,
something catastrophic behind the scenes happened.
She has to leave.
Maybe we'll bring her back later if the show is hurting
to finally give them that reunion.
You know, like leave that as a possibility.
That's so ball-less.
Yes, absolutely.
Especially with Alicia.
I mean, we could have absolutely just had her die and been done with it.
I get it.
I know you guys don't really have never super liked Alicia Clark, but we have to say she has been one of, is been one of the main characters of the show since season one.
Yeah, I mean, she's a.
I don't dislike her.
Yeah.
I know you, I know you don't dislike her like you guys did, Matt.
But I know you guys were never the big fan of her.
What I'm not a big fan of is just shoehorning her into this great leader of the group because she was never that and it didn't make any sense.
So it was in fact, it was comical at times where she's like, follow me guys.
I'm like, why?
At the end of the way?
I'm kind of interested on how this show would have went if their original idea for the show went into what it was before the Morgan idea came in, which was Nick would.
have survived, and I think the original showrunners have talked about this before they were replaced,
where the original idea was going to be, the ending of the show was going to be Madison,
not Madison, no, yeah, Madison versus Nick, and I think Alicia being the middle ground trying to choose
who to side with.
Okay, without a strand, without a Daniel, because that's where, you know, they met Daniel down in
L.A. as well. He was the barber, right, that they hooked up with in L.A.
I mean, it's just, I don't know.
I think the whole show, to be honest,
I think the show went off the rails when they blew it from the very beginning
when it was supposed to be the beginning of the end of the world.
And we didn't get enough of that.
We didn't get enough of the beginning of the end.
Right.
Just, I don't know.
I was just really disappointed in how they did it.
And, you know, I also, you know, the, I don't know how many times we got that.
It's okay.
me. It's okay. No, you can tell me.
Well, with the little, oh, you can tell me. That's what we're calling her now.
Oh my God, shut up. It's okay. You can tell me. It's okay. You can tell me.
The strand thing blows my mind because I don't know how that's work. Right? I mean,
there's like, oh, everything's fine now, but forget the fact that he kidnapped the little girl.
He was never going to give her up. They had to forcibly take her from him.
He's pushing people off of buildings, killing them.
But now it's okay because Alicia said, I love you, and everybody else has to go along.
That's not how the world works.
And he regrets it.
It's not how the world works at all.
Because Negan, the only reason he survived was because Carl wanted him to live, and he was locked up for almost a decade.
And then he got out and was redeemed.
He had a punishment for what he did.
Yeah.
Now, yes, was Strand as bad as Negan?
No, like in terms of badness, not as true as coolness.
I still think Negan is a better character, but still.
I mean, he's basically just as bad.
Yeah, he sure is.
No, don't get me wrong.
I love Strand.
Strand is awesome.
No, but he absolutely is just as bad as Negan.
He's the same kind of character that Negan was.
Absolutely.
He had his sanctuary, the tower, and he ruled with an iron fist.
That's, I mean, hello.
Same.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And while Negan,
has done his time and been redeemed,
kind of.
Strand is crying and waving goodbye from a wrath.
No, no thank you.
Yeah, and I don't know, Strand's,
I mean, if you really delve into it,
it's almost even worse,
because at least with Negan,
he didn't try to pretend he was something else, right?
He never would try to like backstab a friend
or, like, what you see was what you got.
With Strand, he was always scheming against his allies,
All this crap.
Yeah, the one thing when Negan was he was always a man of his word.
He would not backstab you if you didn't backstab him.
That is not Strand.
That is not.
Strand is himself and only himself.
And I was really surprised that, you know, the whole, I don't know,
the whole bird vision with Alicia going through the tower that should have been.
The replays of Madison and should have been burned worse than it was.
You know, the tower's on fire.
about the roof still.
So, yeah, the bird thing, right?
So, and that was a big thing that the creators and the little after comments were talking about
on AMC Plus.
With their visions.
And he was really like explaining it and blah, blah, blah.
And I mean, this is when you have creative minds in Hollywood that just don't really
understand the genre.
Like, I get it.
It's clever what you did, right?
And the whole thing made sense.
But see, it's stupid because this is a zombie show.
We don't need you.
you to get that clever. We really don't. You don't have to. You can just run around and kill zombies and
it's awesome. And we're going to love it. That's what we're here for. Kill some zombies. Be in charge
of your people. You know what? Kill some of your people from time to time that get a little uppity to
your power and find a place or continue to look to find a place that's going to protect your people.
Right. We're done. You can have, you know, like double crosses and all this stuff and you can have
relationships and blah blah because that's what good character driven things are about but
your artsy fartsy bullshit is not needed it's really not and you don't have to explain it
in this like very you know like inside the actor studio where the conscient creators like describing
how great they are and how much their smart fart smell awesome like no you're getting away for
why we love these shows honestly i am okay with stuff like that and shows like this no let me finish
No, no, no, I hate it. This episode was bad. This episode was bad. I am not saying that it was good. No, I thought this episode was bad. Like I said before, I like that style of things. If it's done right, it was not done right at all this episode.
I find it really strange what they've done to Strand's character. And what's next for him now? Is he just a tail between his leg pussycat on a raft with the rest of them looking for, you know, this.
mystical Padre that doesn't exist.
But now it does again?
Does it?
Yeah, that's another thing.
Good point there.
When he was like, yeah, I think it really exists.
I am so tired of that plotline of chasing this thing.
It's been since the beginning of season seven when the nuke dropped.
Still, it's never ending with this Padre thing.
What the heck, man?
It exists or it doesn't.
Maybe Madison's a part of Pard.
Padre. Well, the
promo for the
final episode of this season.
Jason, did you see the clip or have you
actually watched the episode?
I know, I've not. I saw
her like fighting some masked
guys or something. Yes.
These masked guys, you know,
they take
the baby from Morgan.
This is the promo clip that they aired.
They take the baby from Morgan and say, they
think that he's been taking all
their kids. I don't know where these
people are. I don't know why
they're wearing KKK
masks. They're not wearing KKK
masks. They're rounded and brown.
KKK masks are pointing.
Potato sacks or something.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's the end of the world.
KKK masks. Okay. They haven't had
a chance to wash them. They would at least make them
pointy. And so they think he's stealing
their kids. They throw,
they make Morgan jump into a grave
because they're going to bury him alive.
and take the kid, and then gunfire ensues,
and it's Madison killing them all,
and she's taking the kid, and she meets Morgan.
And Morgan figures out she's the one who they were after.
Right, but Morgan doesn't know who she is.
You know, she's just another person to Morgan.
He doesn't know that she's Alicia's mom.
And I don't know if we find that out in this final episode or not,
because Alicia's off, you know, dying to them.
I mean, he knows up.
I love Madison. He just don't know who doesn't know who she is.
Well, I know.
But, I mean, he's by himself with the kid and waiting for the rest of the raft people to show up.
And, uh, and, and there's Madison who's been, I guess, taking kids for some purpose for the future.
I don't know if she has another stadium.
I don't know what she has.
You know, she has some daycare center set up in the middle of, uh, this catastrophe.
I don't know.
But we don't even know.
Who knows Madison?
Strand.
Right? Strand.
Daniel.
Luciana.
Lucy.
Okay.
Luciana knows her.
So those three know Madison.
So eventually they're, you know, they're going to run into her.
Yeah.
But I mean, she already, they all think that everybody else is dead already.
Right.
just, I don't know.
I'm really, I'm really, I'm really, I'm really, I'm really bummed that, and I can't believe I'm actually saying this.
Maybe I won't.
I can't, I can't believe that I'm actually kind of bummed that we're not going to get the Alicia Madison reunion.
That was the whole point of this entire freaking series.
The whole point.
I'll agree.
Even though you guys aren't big fans of Madison, and even me who's indifferent to her, if they would have done it right, it could have felt great to have
that reunion like it did with, like it did with Dwight and Sherry.
That was one of the best scenes in this show, was the reunion between Bright and Cherry.
And the whole thing that we were supposed to love the goodbye scene of her and the raft and
everybody coming up to say goodbye and we'll miss you and everything is great and we're here
because of you.
I'm going to go on a raft and die, but I still love you.
We're just going to leave you here and die.
No, she was supposed to go on that raft with them, but then she goes on that raft with them,
but then she got off to go
to let strand off.
She had to have one more
I'm going at a lone moment.
Yes.
She just had to.
And then one more pass out.
It was perfect ending
to how the show went.
Perfect.
Actually,
yes,
it was.
It wrapped it up in a nice bowl.
You'll say,
you know what?
You all talk to me into it.
You know what?
No,
I'm going to go on my own
and you can't talk to me out of it
and goodbye,
get out of here.
Yeah,
it was like,
it was like an insomation.
I'm going at my loan.
head hits the
you didn't need to watch
that full hour you just needed to watch that
little part right there
the last five minutes is the episode
off she wanders
okay
oh she's down again
we're off to save people
we don't know about okay
I'm here to save people
that you know I want them to live
like me better
okay great
great it was really
was a tough one
that was a tough one real tough one and
you're right
no question about
we're too
into the
the arts and crafts
of visions
the birdie
all every I mean stop
agonizing
stop
just stop and I just stop and I just
stop and you know one of the things
Another thing that really bugged me, and I don't know why.
Just a little thing.
But we're supposed to be in nukeland and wear our suits and wear our masks.
We're all worried about that, but I guess the wind changed.
But A, she laid on the beach, maybe that cured her.
Maybe the nuke cured her.
It was her own little chemotherapy.
But then she off she goes with the mask on, but she's got the T-shirt wide open, all the skin showing.
I'll agree with that.
We had other people show up with burn skin and everything because they had it out in the open.
The odd thing is, is we know the area around the tower, including that beach, because that beach, as we could see from the smoke, was pretty close to the tower, was very unaffected by the nukes.
That area was untouched by the nuclear radiation.
We knew that.
Then when the nuke walkers came in, and if they started burning, all that would go into the air.
We knew that.
That's why they wanted to get out of there.
Who cares? Who cares?
Because none of their plot points make any sense whatsoever.
And they're not following any formula.
Yeah.
It doesn't matter.
It's just dumb.
I was holding out like, I was not going to prejudge the return of Madison because it's like,
that's new writers.
I know.
But after what happened this season, it's going to be worse than it was back in the day.
It's going to be worse.
I think so.
I think it very well could be.
It very well could be.
and that's very disheartening.
Big time.
I'm seeing Madison fans pissed too because it seems like we're all in agreement on it
because I've watched multiple videos like you did Jason
and most of them basically were all like what's going on here.
It's dumb.
Think about all the plot points they could be hitting on this show.
There's a new Walker variant out there.
We know it's out there.
Right.
But it's in France.
Take us in that direction somehow.
You can do it.
It's make believe you can do it.
You know, I mean, there's all these cool things you can do, but we're holding on to the past, Madison, a weak character to begin with.
You have a great lead in Morgan.
Barely use him.
Barely use him.
Yeah.
You got a great character in Daniel, who you used a lot, but then they, they stripped him.
Yeah, you do him dirty.
Yes.
They stripped him, and then he's starting to get better.
hopefully we'll get good Daniel again.
Yeah, that has to happen.
That has to happen.
So the 16th episode next week, the final episode of this season,
gone.
And maybe that's the whole series right there.
Remember we just end it?
We have Madison come back for an episode,
and we just, that's it, the end.
Fear is over. Gone.
We're done with it.
Now they claim it's, it's,
Mount Morgan finds a new ally who turns out
to be more trouble than he bargained for, which is Madison.
I mean, we know that to be who that person is.
And, you know, it's the end of the season.
Maybe that's it.
Maybe that's it.
Maybe if we just end it.
At the end of episode 16, they say, you know what?
We're done.
And, oh, we, we're moving on.
There's some news.
Um, next week, Hardwick's back on for a season seven, episode 16.
Well, yeah, I mean, he's, I, if I'm him, I'm,
piss. Oh yeah, I bet he would love to have
talked about this episode. That he doesn't get to do the
show last night
after such a huge episode with Mattis
at the end of Alicia. Come on
now. Then you talk about doing somebody
dirty. That show has been
a huge part of this
about of this
Walking Dead universe. I know we don't
like saying it, but we have to at this point.
Talking Dead. I mean, that show's been a huge
part of the universe and to
just throw him out like that.
Can you mention how hard it would have been for
him to see anything positive about this show
last night? I don't know if that would
maybe that was strategic.
Okay, guys, already the episode really sucked
and it was not believe, the ending was not a believable.
It seems it would have been more unbelievable to have someone say something
positive on a talk show. You're never going to get that
the whole episode's going to be about Alicia.
Yeah, yeah, my guess is it wouldn't
talk about the episode much. Alicia Denham
Kerry would have been on the couch and they would have
talked about her time on the show. I don't even know if she shows up
on the couch. They just run replays
her on the couch and show some of the highlights over the last seven years and because she I don't
I feel like she's done I feel like they a Hulu backed up the truck load of cash and uh that was it
have a nice day I think Hardwick plus said no okay I think Hardwick would have been able to get her
on the couch honestly oh easy not in the me too world yeah whoa about man what you're talking about
family show talking about living in the past what do you teach it over there too me trying to
about the future.
Woo!
Forward.
All right, that's it.
We're done here today.
I'll tell you that.
So thanks for listening to Talking Walking Dead.
But Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, who I barely want to say his name right now.
And myself, Jeff Fisher, thank you for listening to Talking Walking Dead.
We are out.
