Season 7, episode 2, titled Six Hours.
This is Talking Walking Dead Fear Edition.
Welcome to it.
Talking Walking Dead Fear Edition with a little world beyond, almost thankfully this week, thrown in.
With myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, and Maximus Fisher.
Welcome to it.
The IMDB description, as Morgan and Grace and Mo struggled to address.
adapt to life on the submarine, a food shortage forces them to face the nuclear fallout outside the sub.
Okay, so before I toss it to Jason and Maximus to get their review, just let me say that I personally was very disappointed.
Wow, man.
I know we're focused on, you know, the different characters and that's the way it should be and I get it.
We like that version.
They're finally doing what we had advised them to do years ago.
I like it.
But wow.
I want a lot more from Morgan episodes than The Crying Baby.
Mr. Butro.
Welcome to the podcast.
Wow.
Thank you, Jeffie.
That episode is best described as scratching your fingernails across a chalkboard for over an hour.
I've never, ever had this thought of, man, I can't wait till this is over so I can get to world beyond.
I know.
Oh, my gosh.
I just want to like really quickly.
Sometimes I make notes on these episodes.
I just happen to be doing that last night.
I'd be half of the podcast.
We appreciate you doing your job.
Go ahead.
No problem.
That's what I'm here for.
Listen to these notes, right?
I think it sums up everything.
We just end the podcast.
Number one, baby cries a lot.
Number two, Morgan's chick is kind of crazy.
The next one, baby cries more.
And the next one, Morgan's chick is very crazy.
Next one, it's like they took everything annoying for a parent and a husband and gave it methamphetamines.
Next one, geriatric couple wants to steal a baby.
I thought they were old at first.
I guess they weren't, but I thought they were in the baby.
Right, right.
I think I know what they were based on too.
Again, I'll tell about that later.
Next one, Morgan's chick is crazy.
Padre Safe Zone.
Baby crying again.
Road Warrior shows up.
Dot, dot, dot, dot, dies.
Zombie baby.
The next one,
Road Warrior not dead.
Convenient food stash,
didn't know the Navy
prepares for the zombie apocalypse.
And the last one,
bounty hunter's brother, dot, dot, dot, dot.
Okay.
And seen.
Thank you.
That's a wrap. I know.
Holy cow.
I know.
I know.
I mean, we had...
That was the best part...
I know we're skipping to the end here,
but that was the best part
of the episode was the ending
because we actually see
Emil, the bounty hunter, had a brother.
And the bounty hunter's brother was the one Morgan shot from,
called the road warrior.
Yeah.
As an actor, you know, that has acted in, you know, film before,
I always loved an idea that, you know,
you could be a twin and continue working.
That's a good gig.
That's solid.
I know.
Die off and then the twin shows up.
And Max, you've never said a more fitting statement than what you just said,
The best part of the episode was the end.
I would go further that the end credits were the best part.
I'm with you.
This episode was not that good.
What's the deal with the nuke couple?
Okay, so the new couple, where they said,
when you see them off their wraps and they're all ghoulish and stuff,
again, people who've played the Fallout games,
there are these people who were over-experienced.
exposed to radiation called
ghouls where they
look like that, their noses are missing
their skin is peeling, they
basically cause radiation wherever they
go. So two weeks in a row.
And I am telling you, they
base this season off of
Fallout. Wow.
You're so right.
And that's
that's cool. You know, if they want to do that,
if they want to keep, you know, basing it off
the game because the game is cool. But I mean,
whoever, you imagine
they're sitting in the concept room for this show.
And they're like, let's just have a baby crying the entire time.
Because I don't,
maybe there's no parents in,
you know,
in the drawing board.
We all know,
you know,
we all know that that is,
you know,
probably real life.
I mean,
there's the kids hungry,
babies cry.
Right?
I mean,
absolutely.
Sure.
That's what they do.
And they have a baby stuck in a sub,
you know,
with no food or very little food.
So,
you know, it's one thing that adults realize, you know, I know I'm hungry, but I can't eat.
One thing I've probably never actually said. And then, but I get it. You know, the kid cries.
But the mundane stuff, which we've talked about before in other episodes on this show and other
dead shows, the Monday day-to-day life, I don't know that we need to see it for an entire episode.
Right.
You know, we get it. You know, that Monday day-to-day.
survivability stuff is
good seeing it
because it reminds us,
yes,
that's what goes on.
But for a whole episode,
no,
thank you.
And I can get close
to watching an episode like that
if it's not annoying.
Like I,
like my first child had colic
and cried the entire-
How difficult.
Right.
For two years straight,
cried.
I mean,
and I don't need to see that
for an entire episode.
I was having flashbacks.
Like I was shaking.
At one point,
I'm like, why am I shaking? Why is my heart racing?
Like, why do I want to go and punch a wall?
And I was like, it's this freaking episode.
That's why.
Remind me of real life.
Oh, my gosh. I could not stand it.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah, it's, they were crying, and then we see, we see them, we see grace heading out and trying to raid places.
Right, and she was all ready to die again.
We knew she wants to die.
We called it, by the way.
We just need to kill her off.
Yeah.
Please.
Can we get past the crazy stuff and the like right,
driving in the car, right?
And then she's like,
take the song off,
take the song off.
And they crash.
I'm like,
please tell me she flew out the window and then died on impact.
Please.
Please.
That would be.
Please tell me the rat did bite her when she was hiding on the grocery shelf.
Okay,
please tell me that happened.
Right.
Thank you.
It was just,
you know,
then I loved,
I did love the idea of Morgan,
building the back to the future car that nobody, you know, knew.
He's been going out and building this back to the future car.
Okay.
No problem.
I love that.
That was a good.
It was cute.
I get it.
It makes sense, too.
He was like, look, we need to get out of here.
I'm making sure we can get out of here.
Yeah.
I mean, he did have the thought that we had talked about also of, let's get out.
You know, we can go farther away.
Get out of the zone.
There's going to be better somewhere, right?
Yeah.
That's absolutely what you'd be thinking.
But, you know, again, then we go back to the sub and we've decided that we're going to go back to the sub.
Thankfully, the kid, you know, what a great scene.
The baby starts crawling.
Yeah, the baby started crawling because it's looking for food.
It's hungry.
Well, I think the main reason they did go back was when they were with the, I think it was B and Frank or Fred with the two ghouls.
Yeah.
the they said the fallout spreaded a lot to Louisiana spreaded there spread it
sorry but like it spread a lot to Louisiana because of weather so well yeah I mean
absolutely we understand that but you know it's we're we're at least closer to getting out of
the zone right we have to but I realize it's a lot worse than you think okay oh and then we
we saw ground zero walkers that was cool
Yeah, that was kind of cool.
I'll admit, that, that was cool.
Do you just see the zombies like oozing and dripping and all gooey?
Yeah, and the ghoul lady was like, you don't want them to drip on you.
You think?
Yeah.
Look what happened to my face.
And when Morgan crashed through them in the car and they just exploded and all that goo was pretty cool.
Yeah, that was a good scene, no question.
I did like, you know, and I say I like it.
And that's because I'm trying to find something good out of it.
But, you know, proof positive even in the apocalypse, you know, car repair, pain in the ass.
But we're trying to change a tire.
They're doing NASCAR tire changes in the middle of apocalypse.
Okay.
How many tires were changed in this episode?
It felt like every other scene.
They were changing their tire.
It's like, where is this plethora of like tires?
Like crazy.
We pulled it into the garage.
I mean, I think I saw a repair shop down the street.
Did you?
He did.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
But it was, I was really happy to get to the ending.
No question.
Oh, my gosh.
It was one of the few episodes that I remember actually.
Thank God.
World of Beyond's coming on.
Before we get to World Beyond, one more thing.
Walker Baby.
Oh, yeah.
I know.
Have we seen a Walker Baby?
We were talking about this last night, Max and I.
I don't know that we've seen.
I think we have for some.
reason haven't we i feel like we have seen a walker baby in the dead universe somewhere i don't remember
i know so other movies have done it but we didn't see it though which sucked right i know as i was
gonna say we technically didn't see it right we just assumed that it was a baby in this luggage i
mean that's the way it was portrayed but we never saw it but i kind of i don't know why i i keep
thinking that we have seen one somewhere but maybe not yeah i just plus um
it does kind of, well, these were new,
it was more of a nuke baby than it was a dead plague baby.
But, you know, the new babies are supposed to be the cure.
I knew you were going to bring that.
This completely disqualifies your theory.
Completely.
No, it doesn't because it's a nuke baby.
That's right.
That's right.
It doesn't count.
But it wasn't killed by the nukes.
It was killed by its own parents.
Because it was nuked.
but it still turned
and then I know
I did
and again
I guess
it makes sense
that there was some food
in storage
in the sub
because the sub was
on land for quite a while
with
what's his face's crew
with Teddy
yeah
and he didn't care about the food
all he cared about was the nukes
right so we had people there I guess it's possible that they stashed this
under floorboards I don't I don't think so because they when they finally got the key
they were just like rushed in and started setting up the computer I mean they didn't
elude the fact that they were starting to store food in there I don't know why they
would anyway the Navy must have had it there for like ever and then just I'm sure
they couldn't get in the sub and everything because of the keys
And then when Teddy got a hold of it, he was like, okay, nuke time.
It just seemed like, you know, a miracle that probably wouldn't really happen.
I know it's a TV show.
Oh, yeah, we saw Howard.
We saw Howard and with a talk about Victor and he was in the sub with the...
Oh, yeah, when they came back, right, we had Victor's crew in there, which was, who knows, does Victor now come back to the sub with his crew?
or does he send them back to bring them in?
I think, I mean, with that and then the bounty hunter twin brother guy,
I mean, I'm just assuming I was just thinking,
because I didn't really give much hints that Victor's crew is going to link up with the bounty hunter guy,
and that's how they're going to find out where Padre is,
and it's going to be like the two communities facing off, I guess.
Why, that makes, because Morgan is going to go after Victor, right?
I mean, I was thinking Victor coming back after Morgan,
but Morgan will go after Victor.
Yeah, eventually.
But then I guess not before he goes to Padre and links up with Alicia, right?
I hope, I mean, the, the ghoul people were talking about Padre too, right?
This is the mystical land that we're all supposed to go to.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, hopefully, what sends Morgan off the deep end to go after Victor is grace dies and maybe the kid does too.
I don't think they'd kill, I don't think they'd kill baby Morgan.
Grace, I'm fine with.
I don't think they'd kill baby Morgan.
Let's be honest here.
I don't know that I want Morgan traversing the new countryside with dragging this kid around,
but they might do it.
We literally had two seasons of that with Rick and Judith.
Well, that's kind of true there.
So we don't need more of it.
You can't lie, you can't deny that.
That's true.
I didn't.
It doesn't mean that we have to have it.
So next week is titled Cindy Hawkins,
and we have June and Dory's return in Teddy's Fallout Shelter.
So they'll be going crazy in the Fallout Shelter,
and we'll see, you know, craziness.
And that's when craziness ensues.
I know.
We actually saw a clip of this episode a while ago from a sneak peek of,
of fear in general
and it showed them finding one of Teddy's
old experiment rooms
it was actually cool it was actually pretty cool
yeah yeah yeah it was
very interesting so we finally
you know we got uh I got a couple of
emails and comments on the social media from our listeners
thank you very much I appreciate it
one from Jeremy we can go through
uh okay I'm curious
this Jason gave us his notes
uh during
during the show. I'll give you Jeremy's notes.
Well, this was the last, the first one was the end of fear.
And then he got into a world beyond.
His comment on fear is, come on, really, false floor of powdered milk?
Only think missing is the stay puff marshmallow man.
So then the rest of his comments are for a world beyond, which we will get into.
because I will say that I was actually,
and maybe that's the plan.
Maybe that's the plan.
They make fear not good and it makes us want to watch World Beyond.
I was looking forward to it.
It was like, oh, thank God.
Hey, you might be on to something there.
That's like, that's a solid plan.
They just make you that audience so annoyed that you just have to get through it
to get to the next show and not skip the next show.
Right.
Because you're looking for, I know.
I need something to help you forget the debacle that just happened.
So World Beyond.
wasn't bad. I mean, this week was a pretty good episode, actually. If you've been,
if you've been watching it and involved in the characters.
Oh, boy.
That's not what I was expecting you to say. So apparently their mind control worked on you.
All right.
Yes, it did.
Well, here's the thing, though. Remember, he wasn't annoying. I'll give it that. It wasn't
annoying. It wasn't annoying. Except Iris.
I can't take her. She's got to go soon.
Everything was fine, except Iris.
She's not, and she won't.
We already decided that she's not going to go anywhere because she's, you know, one of the big co-stars.
She's one of the main four, which is Hope, Iris, Elton, and Silas.
Yeah, and she's not going to go anywhere.
It's just agonizing.
We got a lot of Silas this episode.
You were happy about it.
We did.
I like Silas.
It was really good.
He's a great serial killer guy.
I'm all for him.
You know, he's got, he's a, he's the kind of, he's kind of a Morganish kind of guy because he's really super bad.
but he doesn't want to be.
He wants to be, you know, Zen-like and just doesn't.
It's not working out for him.
Yeah.
My, so my take on Iris is, yeah, she's incredibly annoying.
But like the weird thing, though, is she has the right take on the current situation.
So like, you want to be like, hope, what are you doing?
But then Iris is so annoying that I'm like, why couldn't you just switch the roles, right?
I like
so that's what someone I was thinking last night is they effectively kind of
switched how Hope and Iris were
so Hope was like the non-conformer right
she was the rebel she was
she was not going to give in
right but Iris was the total
conformer and she just did basically whatever
she was supposed to do now they flipped them
for some weird reason
although I will say that I think
that and they have flipped them
and that's exactly what they did a complete flip
but I will say that
I feel like
hope is right.
You just said that, you know, Iris,
you think, you know, Iris is right,
in a sense, maybe, maybe not.
That's what I took from her flip.
But I just kind of feel like
she should have gone back to CRM with Hope
and then they would have been able to work
from the inside. Yeah.
It could have been her and feel,
Iris and Felix go back with Huck and Hope.
the dad's happy because he has his daughter.
He doesn't prod around anywhere, making people upset, and then they could plan.
Yeah, I mean, that definitely seems like the smarter play, because you're not, militarily, you're not going to go up against CRM.
Like, they're a juggernaut.
So, I don't know if you're going to, what are you going to plan little night raids, you know, where you pick one off a night?
What's that going to do?
You know, I don't know.
Right.
Plus, this is a good way.
you're going to get you're going to get huck on your side eventually because she's realizing that mom is a nightmare and had been working against her forever and we saw was at the end of the show or the tease for next week's show it was the beginning and the end of this episode so the beginning of the episode we see them pick her up on the raft outside of omaha where we where we see oh she has her she's all bruised up she has the broken arm and we know that's how they found her and that's how
she was hurt, quote unquote, because that's how she got in from her cover.
Then at the end of the episode, we see how she got that broken arm.
Was sent in to be the infiltrator, the bad guy or the good guy from the bad people from mom.
Right?
She's crazy.
She cut her face and mom broke her arm.
Though she didn't.
It's all out of love.
It's all out of love.
Though we didn't see, though we did see Jennifer, who is,
which is Huck's real name,
find out about Will's alive and her being super confused
and basically, wait, CRM might be the reason Omaha's dead.
Right, that's what I mean.
So she's going to find out that mom is a nightmare.
And if you're on the inside, she's going to be able to,
well, and I don't know what good it will do,
but she's going to kill mom, right?
She's going to.
She's the only one that has close enough contact to be able to pull it off.
What city are they in?
Because we know the other, the third is, what, Seattle or whatever?
Portland or whatever, yeah.
On the east or on the west coast.
They're somewhere in New York, right?
Yeah, they're somewhere in New York.
Okay.
So, I mean, somewhere in New York.
I mean, they just ended up walking from, you know, Nebraska and they got there.
So get over it, okay?
They did have a car for a while.
Jeez, that's true.
So now there's only two rings of the three ring triad, right?
It's just New York and Seattle, whatever.
Right.
The more than Washington.
Right.
And so, I mean, they end up, I mean, I guess the plan is to, if she sent her sister into Nebraska or her daughter into Nebraska,
then she's got to have somebody on the inside of the West Coast town too, right?
So that's going to come to an end, too.
They're going to take it all over.
What did it?
So did I miss?
Wait, so why did they
destroy Omaha?
They haven't specified that.
They have not told us why.
That's still a mystery.
It's just, I'm guessing
it was just a, you know, a takeover thing, right?
Power play, yeah.
Yeah.
But, I mean, they have not,
they have not specifically said.
Gosh, see, that pisses me off
about World Beyond is that's interesting to me.
Like this overall politics
and all that stuff is interesting to me.
But they spend so much time
with this, you know, Teen-ank stuff.
Yes, on the mundane stuff.
Yes.
Yeah.
Get to the big picture stuff.
We forgot to say we had Elton kind of freaking out this episode.
Yeah, I mean, he kind of, I think we'll get past him freaking out and he'll move on.
He needs to move on.
Yeah, yeah, your mom was killed by her.
So what?
Get over it.
It's the end of the world.
So what?
She told you she killed him.
She didn't mean it.
Have a nice day.
Get over here.
So next week, World Beyond is, what is?
what is it
episode
no that's
episode three
yeah
world beyond
is that right
yeah
so and it's
we'll see what happens
on the inside
and we'll see if Iris
I know episode four
this was a this was three
yeah yeah so we're into four
I mean I realize it's the final season
so
we got to get to it
no question about it
so I did want to talk a little bit
about back up a little bit
to Walking Dead, the mothership, the main show.
Because I got a message from one of our listeners, Rob,
who hypothesized a couple of things.
And one of them, and I told them that we would comment about it on the show.
All right.
So, hey, Jeff, sorry to bother you.
Yeah, no problem, but I'll get over it.
But I came up with a couple of questions for you and the boys.
after watching the first part of the final season of TWD for the third time.
So he's into it.
Who wants to catch it?
All right.
Good man.
All right.
First.
First, I'm going to do the first second because that's my favorite part and I'm really pissed that I didn't catch this.
And it's going to happen.
And I'm going to have to pretend like I called it, not rob our listener.
But second, he wants to know, since we're all.
the rails a bit from the comic what's the possibility of Negan's redemption in
Maggie's eyes dying while saving Herschel slash the kids in the last third of the final
season we talked about that we've talked about this before yeah we've talked about
that how he that's how he gains his redemption with Maggie is saving the kid right
and he may save the kid while dying right and so that I know yeah I hope not either
because since he was right we have gone off the rails off the comics but I don't
think they'd kill Negan, but I hope not.
So his first comment
that I'm glad I thought of.
I mean, Rob, duh.
Here we go.
With the tension
between Maggie and Negan,
what do you think is the possibility of
there being some grudge bidness
between Maggie and Negan?
Zero percent.
I am in love
with that. I am
so angry at myself for
not calling that hate business i like it it's going to happen yeah that if they have the grudge
business i mean it is just you know it's a there's only a few possibilities out there for either
one of them right and so they're out in the middle of nowhere of close to death that we have grudge
business then and then that you know she's still pissed at him but when he saves the kid
i mean it's all good every there have actually been theories about nighan and
mag getting into a relationship not just not just this guy there's been a lot of other people
thinking i know me no not in the walking dead community other than you dude we have a lot of
giggling conversations offline how have we never had that conversation i know i don't think
it will ever happen it will ever happen i love you for that i don't think it will ever happen i truly
don't think it will ever happen i mean i that goes down and then like rosita and magna just happen to
be walking around and see it and they're like
you want to join in
yeah I mean
best episode of
the walking dead ever
I never thought this could happen
until it happened to me
the walking
it's like one of those short stories
in certain magazines
I have no idea what you're talking about
I don't either I don't either both are insane
so
dear sirs
I never thought I don't even want to wrap
up fear or world beyond i'm just telling you the grudge business on walking dead in either part
two or part three of the final season has now got to happen it will never happen thank you for
listening to talking walking dead jason buttrell maximus fisher have a great week be sure you subscribe to
chewing the fat uh that's the uh the mothership of this show talking walking dead and then you'll be
alerted when the show drops every monday thanks for listening to talking
Walking, Walking Dead.
