Season 7, episode 9, titled Follow Me.
That makes this Talking Walking Dead fear the Walking Dead edition.
Welcome.
Yes, by all means, welcome to it with myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, and Maximus Fisher.
The IMDB description, Alicia takes refuge in the home of a mysterious stranger,
with her fevers growing worse and Arnold pursuing her.
I guess it was, I thought it was just Arno, pursuing her at every turn.
Alicia is forced to confront the failings of her past and how she will face her future.
Should have been titled, you know, becoming Padre, listening to yourself.
Why bother?
Something like that.
Do batteries for the hearing aids, something.
I don't know.
Bagpipes for everyone.
I was not sure.
Okay, so I enjoyed bits and pieces of it.
And I will say that I enjoyed the most enjoyable part of it is that I sat through the whole thing waiting for my heart to be crushed with the return of Madison.
And yet, no.
She is not returned yet.
So do we just have to suffer through the rest of these episodes and she's going to show up at the last one?
Well, that and that would be even more suffering.
So that's just, that's like suffering squared.
I know.
If she's bringing her back, let's get to it.
Let's get to it.
You know, I was driving.
I spent the weekend in Austin, Texas, and coming back, you can see the stadium off the toll road that we take to come back where she supposedly died.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
The stadium.
Yeah.
And I thought, oh, man.
man.
But it wasn't that a true.
Oh, man.
You know,
we saw the stadium.
I've,
uh,
I,
so I,
I enjoyed one part,
and that was the ending
when it just went to black.
That was like the highlight of the night for me.
Um, that,
you know,
I've,
one of the,
the worst episodes is I know that two of you will very much disagree with me,
was when Morgan goes off and learns how to meditate.
Yeah.
with the karate master.
The band base disagrees with you this with,
I don't care. They're pretty stupid.
But, um,
the time I,
I do agree with that statement about the fan base,
but I did enjoy that episode.
Yes, the Morgan learning from Eastman is a great episode.
But I'm with you.
I know what you mean.
We've covered it.
Uh,
but,
um,
this is right up there with,
this overtakes the Morgan episode.
I'd rather watch Morgan meditate with a Kung Fu master
forever.
If I had to watch this one more damn time.
This instead.
was Alicia goes off and enlists in a self-help program and a great program to get back to who she is.
I don't care, right?
I don't care about Alicia attending some self-help seminar to figure out who the hell she is.
This was dumb.
This was dumb.
Well, you're going to like the fan base to this one because most of the fan base seems to come to a concesses with two things from what I've quickly been able to look and do.
A lot of people thought this episode was boring.
Wow.
Progress.
And the only good thing a lot about this episode, people have said, was a lot of people did like Paul.
They thought the episode was boring, but like Paul.
Paul was the deaf guy?
Yeah.
So is deaf the new, like, LGBTQ elemental P thing?
I mean, do we...
Time out.
Does that have to be in every show and episode?
I don't get it.
Paul, I liked Paul.
He was cool.
And I'll say this.
10 times better than Connie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
I guess it was because Paul could actually talk.
So, you know, we got a lot more character out of them and stuff.
But, I mean...
He's a hip-hop artist creating his own genre in real life.
And, you know, he's a...
He's actually really cool.
I saw him in an interview, and he's actually a really cool man.
But, yes, you're correct, Jason.
It is part of the LGBTQ...
Elemental P.
D.
L-L-L-L-B-D.
Even though it's not.
Even though it's technically not.
No, it is.
I did give one report from one of our listeners,
Jeremy, his comment to me was,
well, I'll give you the first two.
I joined in late.
This is awful.
Stop with the dialogue.
Then he ended with, it was quite the
sleeping episode. Had to try to watch three times. Best part, no Madison. I have to say this.
I somewhat enjoyed this episode because I am a personal fan of visual novels so I like long dialogue
sequences. That's just me though. I know I'm in the minority of that. Yeah. I think it was just,
you know, like, I kind of like the, the Arno character and his gathering of walkers.
And we saw him before when he attacked the tower.
Yeah.
And he's going to attack again, right?
He's going to, we know he's going to attack again.
And he has plans.
We found ground zero, which was awesome.
I did enjoy that.
And you know that he's going to use those walkers to attack.
Right.
I mean, that's his plan.
It's got to be.
That sounds cool.
I mean, I just don't, I don't get when we had to have an entire episode of the Tony Robbins episode.
I guess that's what, maybe that's how I'm going to title this.
The Tony Robbins episode.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know, man.
I'm sorry.
It could have been so much.
This is our gripes with fear, right?
Yes, it is.
They tease you all these cool things, and then you get this episode.
Like, why?
And there's so many things, you know, I hate to be so.
Negative.
Yeah, but I'm going to be.
You know, like when they, in the scene where Arnaud is going to take,
Alicia and then Paul steps in and starts firing and the walkers get out and they fight and they run and he breaks away.
You know, that was that was kind of kind of exciting.
But then they run to a van and they sit in the van and they talk for how many, how long.
None of the walkers are trying to get them inside the van.
We've seen episodes.
We've had episodes where our characters are stuck in cars going to die because they're inside of a vehicle.
I was thinking the same thing.
Yeah, I'll agree with that one.
And then the next scene there, out of the car and at the house, getting ready to set up Arno.
So there was no, there was no hardship of getting out of the car.
It was just really weird.
I didn't quite, I was like, what?
I love the, I love his big plan.
So it's like, it's smart.
I've almost blown out my ears listening to loud music.
It is smart.
No, it was funny.
That's not what I'm talking about.
It was like, he's already, they already know he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
he lied, you know, and he was hiding her.
But his big plan was to be like,
now I'm going to pretend that you double crossed me.
And so I'm going to double cross you back.
This time they'll believe me again, I promise.
And they do.
So I was like, this is the dumbest world I've ever seen in my life.
And they do.
Well, look, they believed it because he was a deaf guy.
Anytime a deaf person tells you something, you believe it.
Right?
You do.
Actually, you do.
You're right.
It's a good con to be a deaf person because most people, I would say, if a deaf person hand signals you or writes something down, you believe it.
Interestingly enough that I pointed out, the character wasn't, at least as in the show, I don't know much about the actor, my apologies, is the character wasn't always deaf and there was not a single point of sign language in this episode.
that doesn't change what
doesn't change much of my
feeling about the other.
I don't care. I know. I know.
It doesn't change my opinion either.
It was an episode with a good character
that should have stayed alive.
It's what actually, I've seen a ton of people say
bad episode or okay episode.
Why does fear keep killing off good characters?
Well, the other thing is that then we end up with her
in the sub with Morgan, right, at the end,
after the Tony Robbins weekend.
And it felt like the Tony Robbins weekend was just a dream.
The whole thing was just a, well, for lack, it's not a nightmare.
It's a dead mare, right?
It's a dead mare.
And that was the whole thing.
But it was.
The whole time I was also wondering what was actually a dream or not.
Like the little girl, I'm still not sure what the little girl is if she is a dreamer.
I saw someone say this and I kind of believe them.
The little girl is supposed to be a representation of her younger self.
That's what someone called.
I'll buy that.
Yeah, and apparently, according to some of the executive producers,
the little girl shows up again.
So, you know, I don't know what Alicia is still on her,
having her fever dreams, right?
So.
We don't know if she's not.
Oh, you'd actually.
She's having her fever dreams.
And then, and then she wakes up and she's just going to pack a bag and take off.
and Morgan's like, okay, go ahead.
I should. Go ahead.
I mean, maybe Morgan is just thinking, man,
finally this time she'll leave and she's not going to come back.
Yeah.
The force, how we're supposed to just believe that Alicia's the strong, like,
martial type leader.
I mean, and then, like, they have these scenes where people are, like, scared of her.
Like, she's like, oh, stop, you know, like, you know, I'll take you out.
The girl's, like, five foot tall and probably 90 pounds.
right i i'm not i'm not understanding this at all not that i looked her up today five five five from
australia and i wanted to see i wanted to see what kind of work she'd had done apparently according
to the internet no work so she's she's you know we'll see let's see if that's if i believe that
they're they're all like you know like the whole tony robin's weekend where he's like you know
you be you because they will follow you i'm like will they why why would they follow right this is
the same chick that went off with homie and they
a painting for no reason whatsoever
like trees and stuff
I'm like why
why now is she like this like military
leader who's going to save them all
who's the who's the Netflix painter
the
oh Bob Ross
Bob Ross yeah
Rob Ross weekend she's at the Tony Robbins weekend
she's at the Tony Robbins weekend
wait a minute
where's Lichette she needs to save us
the service seminar you know she's out of getting
a self-help seminar you know
that's what she does
This could be a shocker, everybody.
What if this probably isn't going to happen, but it's like it might.
Probably not, though.
What if Madison turns out better now that she's back?
It's a long road to come down.
Probably not going to happen.
What do you mean by better?
More interesting?
More interesting?
More interesting?
It's like more interesting?
I mean, yeah, I think she could be.
I mean, I think if they wrote her a different,
way or something. She was just never
that interesting to me to begin with.
So I just didn't never got into it.
I mean, she'll never be on the level of
like Maggie. Right? Never.
Agreed. Agreed. Well, yeah, I'm not sure
how they could make what they'd have to do
to make that character reach that now.
The top
characters right now in
fear
are John Doye, Sr.
Strand, Morgan, Dwight.
That's my opinion.
Yeah. Morgan number one.
I don't know. I mean, I will kind of like Dwight, only his story with Sherry pisses me off.
I know, me too.
We were so happy they got reunited.
Yeah.
But what they did to her character, though, really.
Yeah.
It was after all of that.
Yeah.
Every time.
Yeah.
Every time.
Like Dwight, dude, how many times is she going to pick somebody else over you?
You got to get the message.
Eventually.
Time to move on, bro.
Time to move on.
Right.
And then what about John Dory,
Sr.
I like him.
Yeah, it's okay.
Strand is good.
And I hope that they turn my boy into.
Oh, Daniel.
I hope they turned Daniel into something worthwhile.
And they said there will be an episode focusing on Daniel this season.
I hope that they,
I hope that that episode isn't him struggling with his Alzheimer's.
I hope that is just,
that,
that was just a ruse.
Yeah.
You know,
make him,
make him the good,
bad guy again.
Fear has potential.
You know what I mean, that's what kind of irritates me is.
Like there are some episodes of fear that are great.
We can all agree on that. There are some.
Sure.
Some.
But I mean, what irritates me is you've got this strong character
from the original series, right?
You've got Morgan.
He's your A-lister.
Go with it. That's what we should see more of.
And he's sitting in a sub, the first episode of part two
for the end of the episode.
I mean, yeah, I just, I don't get that at all.
Right.
And I just, I feel like we're being made to accept that Alicia's the main character.
And that pisses me off.
So I'm just like, I'm just not buying with you.
I do agree that I want Morgan to be the main character.
I wanted, I wanted to focus on Morgan.
The funny thing is, uh, some, I've seen not, this is not the majority, like the Madison
fans, but some people actually said they didn't, weren't happy how Morgan took over.
and it became Morgan and Friends show instead of fear.
I disagree with that.
That is a minority take.
Well, that's what they did to it, though.
I mean, that was on purpose, right?
We got rid of Madison.
We brought Morgan over from dead so that we could actually tie the two universes together.
And that, you know, that was on purpose.
But then to put him on the sideline is silly, especially when we have, if you say, okay,
your Morgan is number one, and then you argue between who's two, three, and four.
and we only
we didn't see any of two, three, and four
in this episode.
All we saw was Alicia.
She's...
Who they want to be number one.
Or number two.
Or number two.
Because Madison's coming back.
We didn't get Strand.
We didn't get Madison.
We didn't get Daniel.
We didn't get Dwight.
None of it.
I don't know, man.
And it may,
are we supposed to...
Is Arno the new side bad guy?
Because I kind of, you know,
I'm,
I'm okay with that, but, you know, I mean, I kind of like his, his bad guy character.
I like him hauling up with a trailer full of walkers.
Yeah, I like that.
I like his, you know, the carnival barker.
Yeah, the stalkers.
He's the head of the stockers.
I kind of like that.
But, you know, to have him be the only one that we're, that we're worried about, I don't know, it's just, it's always been so much more could be had from fear that we've never got.
Yeah, I guess I don't mind the Arnaud character.
He's just, the only thing that annoys me is kind of like in walking, or the, the original show last season with the, uh, those religious zealots, you know, we're like, yes.
Okay, we, okay, we get it.
You're carrying a scyth, you know, you're supposed to be evil and scary.
Like, the circus performers that he has is henchmen, borderline just crack me up when I see them.
You know, that's what they are.
That's the post-apal-Othian traveling search show.
Because remember, you guys said they were raping Walker's last season.
See, that was, I like that.
That was a good storyline that because she was in pursuit.
Yes, we got naked walkers.
What's happening?
And they stole up to the naked walker side show.
And remember, they stole a warhead.
I like that a lot.
But this group, a very fallout to me.
And as you fans who have been listening, no, I am a huge fallout fan.
So that that warms my heart.
Yeah, but the henchmen
tonight, it looks like, you know,
they were like, crap, man, we want to look cool,
and we don't look scary.
Like, who do we have that's a costume designer?
And they got somebody that's like,
oh, I can do it, I think, you know,
and he does those throw some shoulder fans there.
They look like Raiders from Fallout.
They wear pipes.
It's cool.
Wrap that around your face and we'll put some tusks on it.
That's easy.
Yeah.
Yeah, fallout.
Yeah, that's definitely fallout.
Like, Gary.
Like, Jason, look up, fallout.
Fallout Raiders, you'll see they look exactly like with this episode.
I guarantee that they took it from fallout.
That's cool, but we, you know, that still isn't, you know, that should be the main thing.
I agree.
And, you know, anyway, it was, it's always, it always has been, especially coming off of such a darn good second half of the final season of Walking Dead,
stepping into this
with the trailers
again
making you want to watch it
and the episodes
not so much
yeah you know I hate
I hate coming on here
and sounds so negative
but it's like
this show gives me
such great expectations
and every one of it
iterations you get happy
when you get a very good episode
or at least a
oh that was a good episode
instead of a
oh yeah
now I don't know
hopefully
hopefully whenever we
do our special episode of Dead in the Water whenever that will happen.
But because I don't know about that show.
So let's hope that's good.
I'm looking forward to it.
I am looking forward to it.
That's where we're at now, though.
Max, you summed it up perfectly is like,
we hope there's another show that might be okay because this one kind of blows.
We've got seven more of this, seven more episodes of fear.
And hopefully there's something that could sidetrack us off of this.
Hey, Jason.
Is dead in the water up on AMC?
Then the water, all of it, is on AMC Plus right now.
Okay, but they said that it was going to be on regular AMC 2.
I don't know, because I only saw that, like, on one thing, and it said in May.
So. Okay, well, we're getting close to that.
We're getting close to that.
I'll have to check that.
I'll report back to this very podcast and let you know what they're doing with the rest of the episodes for
that are in the walking dead universe and where you can watch them exclusively because
I have a feeling that that dead in the water is all available on AMC plus and then they'll
either spend a weekend or in two or three weeks and you'll get all of them on AMC and that'll be
you know it'll be worth watching no problem but it doesn't it does lead I'll wrap up with this
episode I mean we we talked about really the best points of this episode you know it was just
It was really strange, you know, prior to Arno catching up to them at the symphony hall.
It was just, you know, then they're just sitting in a symphony hall talking about spending the Tony Robbins weekend at the symphony hall.
That's exactly what it was.
I don't know what I'd say.
It was funny.
I know.
Yeah. Consensus, meh to bad episode.
Good new character that died off due soon, in most people's opinion, mine include.
and hopefully it gets better.
It's always good to come off of Tony's Robin's weekend and look back at your notes
and make sure that you follow those procedures for quite some time.
Otherwise, you just fall back into the same old ruts.
You can't have that.
Right.
Just can't have that.
That's what happens to fear.
They don't look at the notes.
They just fall back to the same old rut.
Isn't that?
Is that not what you thought too while you're watching that?
I mean, I was like,
I didn't hit me.
that that's what it was really.
And then when you said that, I'm like, well, yeah,
and that's what she did before, too, with the art, right?
I mean, that's her deal.
That's her go off and try to find herself deal.
And then it's all just some sweat dream from, you know,
because she is still carrying around her bad arm that she had to cut off.
And we get to see, you know, we get to see that torn off.
I didn't even see her pick it up after Arno took it off of her.
I did.
I thought that she was going to walk around leaning to the right there for most of the rest of the show.
Nope.
She stuck it back on.
There is a scene where she picks it up.
You missed it, but there was a scene.
Okay, I got it.
But I mean, it's just.
And then the realization of that Padre doesn't exist, Padre is, she's like, Padre, like, I didn't like, Padre as me or Padre is what we're going to create.
I was like, really?
Padre. That's the Tony Ravel.
I was like, wait, so Padre doesn't exist. It's something you made up.
And then I got people of the apocalypse, people of the Apocalypse, you know, the fallout
apocalypse. Oh, there could be the safe haven. And like, okay. So that has to be a major script
rewrite. Right. Yes. I mean, that's got to be. That's what that is.
100%. Before they started, they were in pre-production for this season, right? And they were like,
okay, yeah, so Padre is going to be at this national park, blah, blah, blah.
And then there was some lowly production assistant thinking inside his head going, oh, shoot, I forgot to book that site.
And everyone's looking at like, hey, Johnny, you didn't, what are you talking about?
They decided that they weren't going to allow any filming in that park anymore.
And I really tried a lot.
I really tried.
And I'll call back again this afternoon just to double check, but for sure they're not going to let us in.
So then there's a writer, right, that pops his head up and goes,
no problem we're going to make Padre
Alicia yeah
it reminded me no joke
that kind of reminded me in a very bad take of what happened
in the movie Logan where
spoilers for Logan they're trying to head to a place
that was written down in a comic book
because they're thinking okay maybe the comic writer
put it in there and this is a safe haven
well it wasn't but they went to the coordinates and people showed up because
other people figure it out. And then they build that place to be that safe haven where people
thought it would actually be. Well, there you go. But that was done, that was written very well in an
amazing movie. This wasn't that good. So next week is called a morning cloak, M-O-U-R, N-I-N-G,
cloak. When Charlie shows up at the tower unexpectedly, Howard recruits a young ranger in training
to determine the reason for her visit as they journey beyond the tower together.
Charlie's true motives are revealed.
So next week, it looks like we get a little bit of the tower.
Charlie is there.
Growing up, too, I might add.
I saw the preview for the episode.
I will say that she wasn't too bad.
I hope she doesn't die, at least for an episode or two.
And they had a new character that was out running,
around with her. And it looks like
Strand's number two
is going to
going to
start losing his mind.
And Maximus just pointed
out on Charlie's IMDB
page that she is
a spry
15 years old.
Really? So I know. I thought she was a lot older than
I mean, that's what she told me. I mean, I was
talking first. She said, Jeff, just need to
let you know. How you feel now? I'm 21.
I'm 21 and I thought okay
I believe you
I said she's growing up
what you took from that is
is your own sick mind
work and not me
so we'll be back next week
