Well, we're back in the saddle again.
Season 8, episode one of Fear the Walking Dead.
That makes this talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it.
Myself Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchall, and Maximus Fisher.
And yes, Fear the Walking Dead is back almost a year since the last episode.
The IMDB description after going undercover at
Padre, Morgan and Madison
find themselves back at odds,
trying to do whatever is best for Mo
while struggling to accept their new lives
under the watchful eye of Padre.
Jason, Maximus, how are you? Good to see.
Good to see everybody again.
It's not like I've seen you guys multiple times
throughout the year, but who knows?
It's been a minute, guys, huh? Man.
Yes, it has. It was, I will say,
that it was nice to have some Walking Dead back in my life.
I mean, we know that we have Dead City coming up.
We know that we have Walking Dead with Dixon coming up.
We know that we have Rick and Michone filming.
We don't know a release date for that,
but we're assuming that Daryl Dixon will be the end of this year,
and Dead City is right after Fear of the Walking Dead ends their first half of their final season,
because this is a 12 episode final season.
We get six episodes right now and then six later on in the season.
I didn't realize that.
I didn't realize it's not 16.
That's good that you listen to the show because that's what we're here for, you know,
inform the,
inform the masses.
So it was nice to have a little dead back in my life.
Which is kind of,
it was kind of weird because we've had such a lull in Walking Dead content.
But we got,
but I guess the industry kind of filled it with a different style,
little different styles of this kind of show,
the genre with like the Last of Us, which I thought was a badass show.
Just a new take.
You haven't people.
It's great too.
Just how they, uh, I don't know.
Just how they did it was kind of refreshing.
And it kind of reminded me of the olden days of Walking Dead, you know,
when you're just getting into it and, you know, this, you know, like zombie content in general.
It's just kind of cool.
But like, I hate to say that last night's episode really kind of brought me back to the lull I was at.
There we go.
But wait, there's only 11 episodes left.
Okay, there's a bonus in everything, I guess, when he's put the word only in there.
Yeah.
Here's the thing.
Isn't this kind of the usual when it comes to specifically fear?
Yeah, unfortunately.
Yes, it certainly has been.
And I will say, just as a side note of being the only one on the planet that is not a Madison fan.
This episode was nothing but teased Jeff Fisher.
Just teased.
And there was at least four, maybe five times.
We had the opportunity to have her die, and it didn't happen.
I was just like, come on.
It's going to happen.
Oh, no.
Jason, throughout this entire show's runtime of us doing this show and how long you've known dad.
Has there ever been a team?
TV show character that
Jeff Fisher has not
despised more than
Madison from Fear the Walking Dead.
I would say Fat Walker
is a very close second,
possibly number one, but very close second.
He was very pissed.
Thank you.
But we only had to do a Fat Walker
for one episode.
We didn't have Madison for over
three years and then she showed back up again.
I know. So it was
interesting how we jumped ahead in the
episode though so we squared away the timelines right we're even now with the rest of the
walking dead franchise uh as they jumped ahead for seven years right so we're we're all caught up
to the timeline so i don't know not sure that that really means anything i mean i'd like to read
into that that we have some sort of uh crossover from the other shows but it's doubtful yeah
My guess would be they did it so Morgan can show up in the Rick and Michelle Joe.
I'm all for something like that.
I mean, I think that because, you know, they started fear, you know, through the crossover.
Yeah.
I mean, oh, actually, they didn't start fear.
They started that one season when Morgan switched over, you know, with a...
After the first three or four or whatever it was, yeah.
Yeah.
So, yeah, so I think they kind of have to do that because there's just not enough appeal,
especially with the storyline.
I'm glad Max is here for this because I think he picked up stuff better than I do.
But I was so confused on what Padre was supposed to be.
Because we were back in the day, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Padre was like this like, wasn't it like a government program?
And like there was some kind of senator that like had secret plans for Padre.
No?
That Alicia stumbled upon.
No?
Yeah, because the guy that was with, I think you're right.
The guy that was with, what's his face?
Yeah.
The guy that was a strand.
Yeah.
Alicia's boyfriend was like that a potential boyfriend was like the aid to that government official.
He was an aide to a senator who heard about Padre when they were in the bunker.
And he thought, okay, let's go to there.
So the whole season, that whole season was let's go to Padre, even though we had no clue what it was.
That was the idea.
I thought it was some mystical, magical land.
I got the impression it was like government.
I got the impression it was like some kind of government facility or something like that.
I don't know, but I don't get, I mean, it's just a random island that trains.
So I, you know, but what we got instead was like this like soup, like this ninja training ground for the apocalyptic children.
I don't know.
I was like, what?
I'm kind of a fan of the.
gladiator training though.
There's this scene in Wayne's world
from back of the day when like, you know,
Mike Myers' character opens a door
and they're like training in the background, you know,
climbing ropes and stuff. He's like, I just
wanted to open a door and have people training to be ninjas.
That's what it felt like when the little girls
walking down the line and there's all these people like
holding classes on like, I don't know,
being a ninja.
There was math in there too.
There was like a thunder dome.
There was actual educational things going on.
But in the meantime, we're going to have you do gladiator training over here in the octagon.
Jason, I'm a fan of that.
Well, here's the thing, Jason.
Also, Jeffie's favorite movie is Gladiator.
It's what I'm named after.
What do you expect?
I don't know, man.
It just seemed kind of goofy to me.
And I just kept thinking we're getting trolled.
We're getting trolled.
Like, it's really going to start up here in a few minutes.
And I don't know.
I got to say, not to jump around, but I mean, is Morgan just completely, did his psyche
and his character
just completely change attitudes.
Yes.
If they replace another person's brain
into him,
and now he's basically
just somebody else?
Is this not the normal
for Morgan?
I'm just saying.
I mean, it's a good point.
He flip-flops around,
but I mean,
so there's been no growth.
If that's the case,
there's been no growth
from this character whatsoever.
Seven years.
Right?
Seven.
They're in with the swamp walkers
and living on
You know, be in boat people.
And they get attacked.
And so Padre people come and save them.
And he turns the kid over to Padre.
And then a nuke girl, Grace, and Morgan say, okay, well, you take care of our kid.
And we'll be your people out here in the swamps.
Collectors.
We collect whatever, call them whatever the collectors.
Okay.
And everything will be fine.
And during that entire time, now we have Madison being kept in a jail by keeping alive.
I mean, they're giving her oxygen, keeping her alive, right?
And for whatever reason, I have no idea.
They keep taking her blood for some reason.
Yeah, that didn't make any sense.
It doesn't make any sense at all.
Yeah.
I just really, really weird.
Yeah, and what Max pointed out was this is kind of.
of how they've written Morgan.
I mean, I think that's what's so agonizing about it.
It's like, first you're rounding off the tip of your spear, you know, because you're Zen.
Now you're like sharping it back up and attaching an axe to it.
Then you'll go back to being Zen again.
Now you're willing to like, the whole reason he left the main mothership show,
because it got too crazy, right?
Like the whole Negan thing.
Now he's like rationalized it himself in his mind to where, okay,
Negan types are okay as long as they're protecting my daughter or as long as my
doctor is protected in that and not only that but I'm going to work with them and deliver
more children to them well here's the here's the thing when Morgan on this one he did say
that he only takes kids that willingly that the parents willingly give up or have been
abandoned and Padre does not know about that that doesn't make it better you're
delivering them into the hands of a Negan like person and group yeah now that let's get back
to Padre for a second now it's been seven years all right
spent seven years and we have and going back to what you said there's been no growth so for seven
years we're to believe that our man morgan uh who wanted to break away uh and like as you said
wanted to break away and because it was too crazy he wanted to create a world that was better
and now he's just boat people in the swamp killing swamp walkers and collecting wandering kids
i don't know because let's see look here's the thing remember all the rafts that were from last
season that all came in. So we have, and so from what I'm to believe, unless I'm wrong,
strands missing, Luciana, Daniel, and Grace are working with Padre.
Do we know Daniel and Luciana are working with Padre?
We don't, but that's my guess since Grace is there.
Kind of sounded like it.
We know in the promo for upcoming shows, we did see Dwight in one of those.
one of those promo shots.
So he's still around.
I guess, is he working for
Padre now? You working for
Padre now? I mean, I'm not
sure I get it. I mean, it would
just be so on brand if
what's his girlfriend's name? I forgot.
Sherry. If Sherry
is like constantly like, oh yeah,
let's work with them. It's the best way. And then Dwight's
like, oh, I don't know, these guys are kind of cray-cray.
And then at some point...
I'll break away with you.
Yeah.
At least three or four times.
Yes.
At least this season.
And then in the end,
oh, no,
I'm going to go back to Padre.
And you might say,
how can they do that three or four times in 11 episodes?
Oh,
they'll find a way.
They'll find a way.
It'll happen.
I kind of like the kid,
Mo.
Oh,
Red.
Yeah, Red.
Mo.
I kind of like her a little,
eh, bad.
I mean,
it's kind of a good character.
I guess.
I mean, I kind of like her.
And plus she's being, you know, she's now on the inside, right, of Padre.
And she's questioning what they do.
And she's quick, she has overcome her flashback scene of swamp walkers getting her when she was a little baby.
So now she's able to be the gladiator inside the octagon.
Are you not entertained?
I love that.
I want more of that.
Also, just a little sign note for the people.
watching he misspelled entertain on the show notes whatever it doesn't matter i was taking quick notes
during the show but uh it's just it's a i don't know i don't know yeah this show leaves this still continues
to leave me with i always want better yeah totally for sure because fear i've noticed this like
fear has some very good episodes surrounded by meh episodes yes yeah
Well, I think it's still salvageable because like in a final season, I want to see the characters that we like be the best of what we like about them.
So we all know what we like about Morgan.
He's a total badass.
And we want to see him being a badass.
And we don't want to see him being morally compromised like he is right now.
It's just I don't like that at all, especially that like I said, this far.
I mean, it's the last season.
So have them be the best of what we like about them.
and go out looking like a hero.
And maybe that will happen.
I mean,
the wall on the,
on his,
on his boat house,
right,
had the King County and,
what else was on the wall?
But anyway,
it was flashback for him.
Yeah,
it said,
it was Jenny,
Dwayne and he said,
King County.
Jenny and Dwayne,
obviously being his son and wife,
and King County being where Rick found him
when he was going all clear mode.
So maybe he's,
you know,
having,
having his own flashback.
back to which gets us to the morgue that we love.
It gets us there.
I got to say, I'm just saying.
I just realized something.
I have to have dad's reaction on this.
That means maybe the trucker twins are on our Padre too.
Oh, gosh.
I mean, it's possible.
We've had,
we got Madison living off oxygen because she can't live without oxygen because
her lungs were burned,
but we're keeping her alive for some reason.
So it's possible that we have another handicapped parking.
space at Padre
for the Trucker Twins.
I don't know.
You've never liked the Trucker
Twins anyway. And I will say this.
If Fear the Walking Dead,
this is just, I'm going to throw this out there, and it really
doesn't have anything to do with the episodes.
It's just me
going into AMC woke mode.
But if they make Moe, this non-binary
gladiator,
I may. I may.
have to throw the television.
I'd recommend that.
Because that's going to happen.
You got to expect that they're going to throw in some kind of message.
Yes, that's going to happen.
I'd recommend cut that.
That's Hollywood now, man.
You just can't escape it.
I know.
You can't.
You can't.
So the other episodes, I mean, this whole season, though, this first half of the season,
and going back to, are we going to get, you know, Morgan going out?
When you look at episode two, you know, is Padre.
still wrapped around Padre, Mo's Hunt approved Padres' true intentions in the third episode, King County.
Maybe that's where we get Morgan going back in episode four, because it's titled King County,
and it's Morgan's return to King County.
It's complicated when Padre comes to collect.
So he may be winding down.
We may get some kind of crossover there if he's going back to King County.
Not really, because if somehow they're, because they're, they went to Louisiana.
recently, and we know that.
That's where they are.
Yeah, that's where they are.
King County, Georgia,
but the main show now
would be up in
Washington, D.C., Virginia,
so they wouldn't meet anybody
familiar.
Don't block me down with facts.
Just let me...
Give us some hope.
Yeah.
Give us some hope that something better is about to happen.
Thank you.
Oh my God, I just thought of something.
Since this is the final season, Dad, they have right to
kill Daniel maybe.
Well, yeah, I mean, if he's still around,
that very well may happen.
We may lose several characters,
but of course we can't lose Bateson.
We just have to tease me
the possibility of her dying four times
in every episode.
And I know, I know in my heart
that they're not going to kill her off.
But it makes me so happy thinking that it could happen.
I'll tell you what.
They just tease me the whole episode.
The best part about the about last night for me was I kept looking forward to the commercials
because I kept dropping those teases of the new shows coming out.
Like the Daryl Dixon one looks really good.
Just on what I saw.
I was like, dang.
Well, Mishon has released stuff on her social media account of, you know,
them filming Rick and Mishone episode.
We don't even know what it's called yet.
I guess everybody's just calling it the Rick and Mishone show.
But it's supposed to be this six episode.
you know, ending.
But all the other shows,
I don't know that those other shows
are going to be a one-off.
You know, maybe they will be
with the writer strike,
who knows.
But, yeah,
why, are you still working,
by the way,
Mr. Reiter?
Aren't you with the Writers' Club?
That's true.
I have not cashed in on that yet.
I'm striking today.
That's insane.
How did this not apply to me?
That's what I'm saying.
Picket sign needs to happen.
I guess I'm just not an entitled little
brat. They're not even doing the Tony Awards this year because of the
writer's true. They can't even get somebody. I know they can't even get somebody to
come out and go, and the winner is, without a writer? Are you kidding me?
You writers are. You're right. All are you. Entitled. I'm on the writer's side. I want them to
make all the money from streaming, but now you're pushing it. Okay. Now you're
you're pushing. You know what? I will be pissed at that, if that affects these new shows. That
That will suck.
I think I'm more interested.
At first I was more interested in the island of dead or whatever it's called with
Dead City.
Yeah.
Yeah.
At first I was more interested in that, but like, I think I'm more interested in the Daryl Dixon show now.
And my reasoning for that is, I think he's the hardest one for them to do a complete
180 and write differently.
You know, like with Morgan, he's just so different now.
I'm having a hard time connecting with who he used to be.
Negan, they've done him so differently.
I just fear they're going to turn him into this like, you know, whimpering little wuss.
But like Daryl, I don't think they can do that to him.
He's just, he's typecast into that, into the way he is.
They may have tried.
When you look at what they talk about, uh, Daryl, you know, waking up on the shores of France or whatever,
and he doesn't know how he got there.
And, you know, they, you know, they tried to lay that out.
That may have been what they tried to, we're going to try to do, right?
because Angela Kang, who, you know, was part of the Walking Dead show running and stuff,
she was originally set to run things for the Daryl Dixon show.
But in April of last year, she stepped down.
Oh, that's the best news, in my opinion.
The best news.
I remember I said that I said something about talk.
I talked some trash against Angela King on like Twitter.
And then there was all these people like, what are you talking about?
A lot of people think she saved the show from Gimple.
but
not kidding
that is hilarious
you look at the
tragedies that have happened
to this show
since she's been here
oh my gosh
was she
was the world beyond
was that her thing
she wasn't in charge
of world beyond I don't think
that I think that was
she was not in charge of world beyond
who was in charge of world beyond
I don't know
I don't remember
yeah I don't remember
but at least
we didn't find the one
that was in charge
and have them step down as well
well but she's still
you mean they still give her
the executive producer stuff with
Gimple and Nicotero and stuff, but that
that means that she just hands
off on the day to day.
Which is good.
Her like after, like, when you watch it on the app
and they always have like these after
like comments. Yeah. Yeah. She usually leads
it and she's like, yeah, so I think
the growth for this character, I'm like, shut up.
It's like, I'm like, oh my God.
But what she's really seen there is like,
shut up.
This is not walking dead.
One thing.
I think is, what was I going to say?
I agree with that.
Absolutely.
I think that you're probably the only one that believes that about Angela Max,
and I'm tired of hearing it from getting,
so you need to just stop it right now.
Max's response right there summed up the entire episode last night, ladies and gentlemen.
That's about what it was.
And we'll just leave it there.
We're back, talking, Walking Dead is back.
You've got Jason Butchow, Maximus Fisher, and myself.
Oh, you're leaning toward the mic.
remember what you were going to say?
Nope.
I was going to let, we're just going to leave it hang.
That's the recap we need right there.
We have Fear the Walking Dead.
We have five more episodes and we will be with you right here.
So be sure to listen and look forward to fear the Walking Dead talking walking dead additions.
