Season 8, episode 3 and 4 of Fear the Walking Dead.
That makes this Talking Walking Dead Fear Edition.
So we'll kick it off with episode 3, Odessa.
We talked about the theory that I had and that, you know, Padre, was Travis.
And that was the week before.
And then it was a good theory.
It was a really good theory.
I still think it may hold up.
But according to the episode, no, it did not hold up at all.
Very sad.
Very sad with Odessa.
By the way, Jason, you were right about Padre being originally being a military base,
but after they all died, that's when they took it over.
It was an interesting theory.
Well, I'm not theory, but it's actually an interesting concept that they were like stockpiling,
all this stuff in the event of some crazy catastrophe.
I don't know. That's kind of cool. I like it.
Absolutely it is. And it's been it's been quite a while.
I mean, we're down the road, what, seven, eight years, maybe more?
You know, so this stockpile is just sitting there collecting dust.
Kind of strange that they hadn't tried to get to it before now.
Yeah.
You know, that's kind of, I mean, I don't quite understand that theory.
Well, we don't know what's there yet, but because.
And they answered why that senator from way back, what, a couple seasons ago, was involved.
But yeah, they were trying to like reach out to as many government type people so they could start delivering all this, you know, all these supplies.
So that that made sense.
Yes, it did.
Yes, it did.
And it was interesting that, you know, the kid's dad, you know, General Krennick, you know, he was the guy in charge of it all.
I mean, I guess he was the original Padre.
But, you know, the kids, and that's where we get, you know, Shrike and Crane, right?
That's their bird name because dad wanted to name everybody birds.
Okay.
That's code names, yeah.
And then they just stuck with it.
Okay.
All right, no problem.
I don't know who the woodpecker is, but.
Was that the Indian chick?
I'm not the, not the, the, the, the, the.
the dot, not the, not the American Indians, but
you good.
The dot, anyway, that was Woodpecker.
Everybody.
So anyway, the episode was, I thought the episode was actually, you know, pretty good.
You know, Edessa was pretty good.
I was, you know, obviously.
Daniel's back.
Daniel is back.
I was kind of bummed.
You know, my theory was shot down in flames, although, you know, I guess I could,
I could not a professional writer as,
you, Jason. But I mean, I could
write the episodes to make Travis
still be Padre.
There are things I didn't
have on my bingo card, you know.
I know. A modified
Children of the Corn plot. I did not have
that on the bingo card. I know.
I didn't have that the only thing that could
cure Daniel,
you know, of his crazy
dementia was just some juice. I didn't
have that on my car card either.
Well, I mean, they found it.
They found the cure. Just drink your
Ovalteen. And you'll be
fine.
I mean, he didn't specifically say it was Ovalty in there, Mr. Smarty Pants.
Oh, it was Ovalty.
It could be some kind of ground-up leaf that we don't know works today.
Now, one thing I know dad here was...
Although the rich chocolate Ovalteen doesn't taste bad.
I know one thing that dad here was actually very happy about is that Madison admitted not being as good as a leon.
Morgan.
Oh, please.
Plus, in that episode,
you know,
we had to tease her death again.
They just keep teasing me
with the death of Madison.
That's the best thing about,
and we'll get to this week's episode,
episode four.
We skipped an episode due to some scheduling conflicts.
They just keep teasing me with,
you know,
the Madison death.
I just,
okay,
either we're going to kill her or not.
When was Madison ever a good leader?
I don't know.
They've just been this wandering
family that bumble into one catastrophe
after the next and somehow she survives
every single one but her kids
all die but she still thinks
that she might be a leader
I well no she admit at least this time she admitted
Morgan's a better leader
yeah she's just a bad parent
she just kind of like admit that at first
maybe
well her kids are dead so I think that
explains it well she's
still alive right
what's her face is still alive
Alicia's a maybe
because we don't know
We still don't know.
It was like left open.
I assume she was like in some kind of walker heaven or something like that, you know, mingling around with them.
It's possible, but we never, she hasn't never been actually dead, right?
She was left there.
She pushed her head on the boat.
Sunning herself on the beach, right, catching a little raise.
So maybe that's, you know, maybe she found the same juice.
Daniel found.
She's living large now.
The vanilla oval team.
that's she's yeah that's tough to find too by the way yeah I don't even know if they make it anymore
so all I ever see is the rich chocolate so then we had the we had the reveal that the
the one kid Odessa what is the is the daughter of the one girl that Morgan and that Morgan
found at the end of last season and that the reason the reason they got she got killed so that
was interesting.
I guess.
Yeah.
I mean, it was interesting that just the fact of, oh, okay, so she's actually going to
side with Padre and not side with our group.
Okay.
Right.
Siding with Padre makes absolutely no sense to me.
But, hey, I don't know.
Well, when you have the children of the corn, right, you, they're going to side with
Padre until they actually start seeing the truth, right?
Because they've been indoctrinated from the very beginning.
I mean, they're
hardcore. I mean, the cult
is invested in these kids.
So they're going to side with them
until someone can actually convince them
of the truth that they've been had,
that they're being turned into gladiators.
I don't know what the outcome
they plan on getting from these kids.
I think ninjas. I think that's better
than gladiators.
Okay, then gladiators.
Yeah, can we just take a step back
and look at how utterly ridiculous
the plot of this show is.
The kids take over.
The kids steal more kids to train them into kid ninjas.
And it's a giant kid ninja army.
And that's what our group is fighting right now.
No, the kids don't steal the kids.
Adults steal the kids and put them on the island.
Well, they're working for the kids, though.
They're working for Padre, who should have been Travis.
That is the kids, right?
What's his name?
Like crane.
Crane.
Yeah, except they're not kids.
They're adults that are in charge of Padre.
Yeah, but they were kids to begin with.
They were.
Our code names, I think Max would be owl, because he's full of a lot of information.
I would obviously be bald eagle.
No.
I don't want to be owl.
I want to be a shoebill stork.
Who am I?
Penguin.
No, I want to be a shoebill stork.
You can't choose your own name.
You're owl.
That's right.
Pardot chooses your name.
Yeah.
Get what you get.
That's the way it is.
And I love the, I love the, I love the baseball masks.
The, the mosquito masks that they wear.
Fencing masks?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's exactly what the other fencing masks.
It's just that.
I could start what that was for.
Just in case the walkers are fencing masters.
and they bust out and say on guard
before you go to stab them in the head?
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know.
I guess it's the look.
It's the look.
I guess you're being protected
from getting bitten in the face.
You just, I mean, I think it boils down to you.
Just don't question Walker Ninjitsu.
You just don't.
You know, you fall.
It's a pathway.
You say ninjas, though, but like Mo was
being trained with a sledgehammer.
That was,
like, yeah.
I know, but that's, yeah, modern ninjas, modern ninjas and Padre.
Yeah.
Post-al lock and post-a-locum.
It's just, I still don't understand what they're, you know, I, honestly, I'm confused
at when you break it down more like you did, Jason.
I don't understand what the end game is.
I mean, they did.
They kind of explained it.
We're like, we want to, because I'm going off of strings here.
We, we, we're, uh, Shrike and Crane are like, we, we,
Like, we're trying to build a world where, like, no kid could suffer the loss of a parent,
so we're trying to remove all that emotional aspect away from them.
Okay.
All right.
Like, they did explain that.
It's weird, but...
Okay.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense like this entire season.
The past several seasons.
The nuke season made sense.
I have to disagree with there.
The nuke season makes sense with Teddy, but...
After that, I'll agree.
I don't know if it makes sense as far as plot development.
Like where do we see this going?
Like at this point, I don't know where this is going.
This is supposed to wrap up the entire show.
So I would assume they'd be like, in my view, and who the hell am I?
But in my view, they should be going towards some grand unification, you know, some unifying theory for all the different shows.
Not just a random one-off.
This is the next group we have to fight.
Oh, we did it together.
Now the end.
Like, that makes no sense to me.
I don't know.
Unless they have yet to reveal something that's going to put everything together and tie it up in a bow.
I don't know.
Well, we're kind of getting that in this latest episode, right?
I mean, this episode with episode three, with, you know, them finding out who Padre was and realizing we got the backstory and the flashback of the kid's dad.
And we're now going to go into try to go to the military.
based there at the shipyards and get all the goods and whatever else they have stored to try to
create a new community we have that but then when we get to Morgan and Daniel's back
Daniel's out I mean their main their main goal is to reunify the children with the parents that are left
right yeah and so then what you're right then what are we is that is that going to be the new
the new neighborhood are we just opening up you know opening up uh you know the new gated community
and we're back to square one again find in another Alexandria type place where they yeah yeah
see that's weak sauce to me that that's been the plot for every season pretty much
where we where's our next community you know which doesn't tie anything up because as you know
in this world, someone's going to come to threaten that community.
There's always a bigger, badder, Negan out there to come and threaten you.
Like, nothing ends.
I don't know.
We'll see.
All right.
So I just want to say that my theory was a great theory.
I wish that it would have been true.
I'm very sad that they did not contact me.
This must have, this was, this was, had to have been written just before the writer's
strike.
They didn't have time to work up my theory.
that's another theory
that's probably what happened
Travis was probably signed ready to go
right
everything like half of those
they were done filming by the time
the writer strike happened though
and then they walked into a fifth grade
English class and they said hey
kids can you finish
the story out for us
that would make sense
that would explain
kid ninjitsu kids take over
don't blog us down with your facts
about the writing max I don't want to hear
that was the facts don't feel about
So we have the Madison, you know, we obviously stick with episode three for just a little bit because I love the fact that Madison had these files and she's been keeping track of the parents.
That whole thing is really, I don't know, really kind of strange.
But okay, all right.
I'm glad that Daniel's back.
I am glad that he found Ovalty to save his capacity.
I'm happy about that.
That makes me happy.
Let's get Daniel back.
He's ruling the group.
and he's ready to do whatever he has to do.
I'm a fan.
Yeah, he's doing like his thing, right?
Yes.
His jungle guerrilla warfare.
That's right, Matt.
That's our boy.
I loved his line going,
they thought I was old and useless.
They were right about one thing.
I am old, but I am not useless.
So, I mean, I'm happy about that,
which we didn't really get any,
Daniel, in this episode.
So let's go to season eight episode four,
entitled King County.
All right, so this week's
episode got us
Morgan flashbacking
and uh return
to the beginning of the dead definitely
return to the beginning of the walking dead
paying homage to the dead
uh Morgan back at the in the old neighborhood
I love the
I love the skunk kill at the beginning
it was awesome as he was
back to
Morgan being ninja
with his with his clear killing
It's awesome.
Yeah.
Is there some kind of like,
that they construct some kind of highway
in this that's like some kind of
new highway system where you can instantly
get like a thousand miles
into Georgia?
I don't know.
I thought travel was perilous
in this world.
I know, but he walked there, no problem.
He walked there with his stick.
And nobody knew he was going there.
However,
the kid sent a message
over their decoder.
and everybody picked it up and showed up there.
The heavily encrypted and encoded message that apparently everyone knows.
What did she call it the re?
Oh, shoot, I wrote it down here too.
What the heck did she?
Because everybody still has walkie-talkies, by the way.
Batteries working strong.
She was listening to the tape player in the truck when she showed up.
The Newk lady showed up in the Padre truck with the girl in the back.
She was listening to the music.
the Walkman, so that's still fired up.
But she got the message
over the...
Oh, shoot, what did she call it?
Ah!
A communicator or something, but...
Yeah, it was...
The radio?
She called it something, though.
Anyway...
But this episode, I genuinely liked.
I was impressed with the...
Just the set, actually.
Reconstructing all that
It was insane
It's clearly old dead
That was clearly all old
Walking Dead from season one
Yeah
And that's I mean
See this was kind of like
I expected more of for this season
You know like all the characters
Kind of reconciling
Like where they started
And just kind of putting a bow on
I don't know
Making it to where they can move on
And you can see them ending their story
In this television show
That made a whole lot of sense
It was cool to see.
And like something interesting too,
the actress that was playing like Morgan's dead wife.
It's the same actress from season one of dead.
Yeah, that's crazy.
They did bring her back to be the wall,
to be his hallucination walker,
it's the same actress.
I didn't remember like when Rick showed up.
And like, did all of that reconcile with like,
because I don't remember like he was all talking about like going away.
He didn't remember where he was.
He just ran off in some direction,
started killing a bunch of things.
and people and then he apparently blacked out
a lot of his memory of what he did to his son
when did Rick show up and all that
so no well no okay go ahead because Rick was there before
Rick was this is this is the area Rick was at
in the beginning of the show this isn't when Rick found him again
yep this is that part understood
so in between Rick finding him again
and Rick originally finding him is where
we find out Dwayne got bit
like he went crazy
we all knew that
okay so
but when Rick first shows up
is this after Morgan
apparently
went nuts and then tied
his son up in the attic
no because we saw his son in
episode one was still alive
the kid was still alive
Morgan was staying at the house
they were hiding out
and he couldn't kill his wife
so Rick left and then he went crazy
after Rick left
yes yes
because his wife
we found we knew that because
Rick gave him the rifle
to use this to kill your wife
you know use this to protect yourself
whatever you need to do
and I think
well it's been a while since I just
watched those Walking Dead episodes
but I feel like Rick was like
you know we'll find each other again or something
I got to go
because that's then he went out and found
the dinkleberries outside of town
yeah that's when he found Glenn
But, yeah.
So we knew from when he met Morgan again and he started talking with Morgan and making sure Morgan wasn't crazy anymore, Morgan said, my son is dead.
His mom killed him because I couldn't.
Like, we knew that already.
Right.
Idiot.
I didn't say idiot, dude.
But he meant it, Jason, to just live with him.
God.
It has been seven years. I'm sorry.
Signing off, guys. I'm signing off.
I do.
I will say that in those episodes, it was the beginning of, remember, the wife used to come up to the house and turn the door knob at night and stuff.
So we got a glimpse of a little bit of what, you know, the walkers that we ended up seeing.
Smart walkers.
Yeah.
She, you know, and while the strain was different in the, you know, the strain was different in the.
the U.S., she was actually still feeling the urge of her family.
And, you know, they were trying to make you believe that the walkers were dead,
but they weren't completely dead inside yet.
You know, they still, they were acting on impulse,
but they still knew their surroundings and loved ones and stuff.
You know, they never took it any farther than that.
Until way later.
Right.
But it was still there.
The ghost images were trying my patience a bit.
on this.
With his wife.
Yeah.
I mean, how many times have he done that in this story?
But I mean, I don't know.
I just got an impression of, I just got an impression of,
this show has gotten to the point where it's trying my patience.
I guess I'm just sick of a lot of the stuff that they,
a lot of the tricks, I guess they use,
or all MacGuffins that they use to push the plot forward.
It's time for it to end.
It really is.
I'm just sad.
Yes, it is.
And I will say that, you know, the, okay, so just in my notes, and I'm about halfway through on my notes where the kid not going to try anything, Dwight and Sherry working for Padre is kind of weird.
They show up, you know, with their horses and they're on a posse.
By the way, perhaps they have stables between Padre and between Morgan's house.
because you just taking horses for quite a ride.
Don't question.
Quite a ride, man.
Those are some, those are sturdy horses.
Anyway, I wrote down, I wrote down bored.
And that's about, I actually wasn't more.
I know you weren't.
And it was kind of half bored, really.
I should have just wrote half board because I still was kind of interested,
but you're right, it's time for it to end.
Yeah, the whole thing is.
The Dwight and Sherry thing, they keep saying, like,
after the fact, they'd be like, oh, this is kind of like the sanctuary.
Oh, yeah, this is we're just kind of like the saviors.
It's like, how many times you're going to say that before you do, you change your behavior?
Well, they just did.
Right.
They got their son.
Yeah, after the fact.
That's like, after the fact.
Like, in the very beginning, if that was really what you thought, you would think that
you would be like, oh, let's not work with this quote unquote, save your group and then go
and kidnap Morgan.
Right.
Like, that is the right.
You wouldn't do that.
You would think of some other way to rescue your son.
and apparently it's very easy for him to rescue himself.
You just sweep the leg and walk out.
One would think.
If it was that easy,
why did you feel like you had to go kidnap one of your best friends?
I don't know.
It's like all of a sudden he has this recollection.
All of a sudden he remembers,
oh, wait a minute,
we're the bad guys here.
Maybe we shouldn't kill,
take Oregon to his imminent death.
Remember how I taught you to sweep the lick?
Okay.
Okay.
All right, karate kid, we got it.
I was waiting for Sherry to go, get him a body bag, man.
It worked, though.
It worked.
It did work.
I was surprised of, like, what they did with Dwayne, like, finding out that Morgan
blacked out and brought him up to the attic of that one house.
Yeah, I mean, yes, you knew that he was still going to be alive, right?
I mean, well, yeah, you know, dead alive.
There's no way that Morgan would have killed him.
Hell, he couldn't, he can't even kill the wife.
Because, so there's no way he was ever going to kill the kid.
Oh, my God, the wife.
I don't, oh, not the wife, the girlfriend, whatever her name is.
Oh, Grace.
The new lady.
Grace.
I'm like, the whole time I'm like, oh, they really want to kill this girl off.
They're having her get sick again.
And then all of a sudden, oh, wait a minute, she's not going to die off all of a sudden.
Oh, wait.
She got bit.
She's going to die again.
Guys.
And guess what?
She's not going to die because she's so full of radiation.
She's going to be the test subject back at the train car and she's going to survive.
Oh, another theory.
Another theory.
I tell you.
She's so full.
Oh, look at she was working with all these radiation people.
And she's so full of radiation, there's no way that the Walker Bites can kill her.
We need her blood.
That's a very good point.
That's a very good point.
I guess that's why she hasn't turned yet, huh?
Correct.
And that's why Finch is fine because they were doing radiation testing on him.
Yeah.
Who was Finch?
Dwight Sherry's son.
Because he got bit?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, they bit him with the head.
The bite her head.
I love that thing, man.
Why can we just hold the head and have him bite the kid?
No, we have to have the hydraulic machine do it.
okay that's kind of dope i know i know i like it i like it and then of course that what really what really
kind of i don't know i know it's the show and i got it but you know morgan and grace grace yeah
new lady uh she uh they're they're they're they're out there with mo and they want to save and
they're out running around but we leave the kid back at the house get back inside because they're
stuck on the porch so they just said get back inside and then
they run off. So they just
leave the kid to the house. Well, thankfully,
thankfully, they all have Wauki-Tockeys so they were able to communicate.
What is your whole deal with this Wauci-Taki thing?
There's no way all these Wokie-Tockies are working this lot. I'm sorry, no.
You started this whole thing back in season eight of dead.
It's time for the batteries to die.
I'm sorry, no. They just aren't going to be working.
Yeah, that plan reminded me
That scene in Ghostbusters
Where Ray's big plan was Getter
Remember they're making fun of them after the fact
That was your plan Ray? Getter?
Like they're like, yeah, this is a plan
You can do this and you know
That's why you have the gun
And let's charge out there
They charge out there
Shoot a couple walkers get caught
I was like
That was Morgan's plan
Really? Getter? Getter?
Getter?
Go down to the sidewalk and make a right
It don't stop.
Okay.
All right.
First, we've got to make it to the sidewalk.
We've got to make it to the sidewalk.
First we've got to make it.
Really strange.
Really strange.
And I don't know how, and the other, I don't know how many other people were there from
Padre with Dwight and Sherry, but there were, you know, they had a couple of warriors there.
There was two.
Setting walkers on fire.
Why didn't they just do that from the beginning?
Just really.
The Dwight and Sherry thing started to piss me off, actually.
now that I start thinking about it again.
You're right.
At what point they just continue with their little argument about the kid
and oh my gosh, it's like the time we had before
and maybe we shouldn't be doing this.
You think?
How about put an iron to your face again?
How about that?
How about we do that?
Maybe that'll kick in some memories.
No, we have to put an iron into Sherry's face, make the match.
I know.
I know.
Sherry hasn't run off yet and defected to the other side.
No, she hasn't.
She hasn't.
That's progress.
No, she hasn't.
So we have, and then we have, so then this is where we get to the end game, right?
Where, again, Morgan wants to reunite the families, get together, have this whole new beginning.
Now that he's buried his wife and kid, and he's all clear.
But he's got to get back to, thank you.
He's got to get back to.
the train car to find out that Grace is going to be the savior.
I mean, she's in trouble and she's been bitten and we've got to save her.
And so, and we've got to reunite.
So that's your, I mean, and we're going to get with Daniel to help save these kids with these families to get rid of Padre.
And they're going to have all this stuff at the shipyard.
They've got to go in and clear the shipyard.
Once they do that, they'll have all this stuff.
I can live for years and rebuild and make things better.
That's probably the ending.
I mean, I know we have, this is episode four, so we have a couple episodes left in this half.
Until the mid-season.
The first half of the final season, and then we're going to have six at the end.
But the final six, I guess, you know, maybe the last two are going to be rebuilding
and having all the goods at the dock left by.
bald eagle or whatever his freaking bird handle name was that was mine oh i'm sorry yeah i'm sorry
i don't know forget what the dad forget what the dad's name was i mean this was just eagle and uh
so they'll have all the stuff right and we'll just be a little we'll live happily ever after the end
of fear will be where uh madison will be suck an oxygen and uh we'll have
the cure. We just have to run
people through an x-ray machine after they
get bitten and they'll be fine.
And we can click our teacups
and live happily ever on the coast of Louisiana.
And then we got
Dead City and
Daryl.
See,
so how many episodes do we have left?
Two. Two in this half
and then another six.
Wow. Okay. I know.
I know. Long way to get.
Well, I would love for them to
wrap up the kidninjitsu cult
by the half in the next couple of episodes, that would be
amazing so that they could start, like, moving
towards the bigger picture.
That's what I would love for how this to go.
That would be good.
You're already teasing Rick.
Why not tease it a little bit better.
Yeah, we had a couple of Rick mentions.
We had two Rick mentions.
Man named Rick Grimes gave me the rifle,
and a nuke lady had to mention him again
as she was trying to save Morgan's mental status.
So that was good.
it was good
I mean it was more than
barely more than
Walking Dead gave him
right
I know
yeah but Walking Dead gave him
a whole scene
at the end of the series
okay
okay
so you know
I would be happy with that
actually even
if that's all they did
was like a post credit scene
or something like that
but I mean
you have this entire community
that's got all these resources
how is that not getting
on the radar
of some organization
like CRN
yeah
yeah we have to know
especially
once our people take over, right?
Once our people take over, you're right,
they need to wrap that up this half.
We need to be clicking tea cups
at the end of this sixth season.
What is the title of the show is,
all I see is red.
Well, that better be red tea.
And, you know, clicking it all
so that they have that rebuilding already in hand.
Right, that would be good.
That'd be really good.
What's crazy is you say all our people take over.
And what's sad with this show is I don't feel that connection.
Like I don't feel like they're all our people.
I really don't.
I mean, maybe, I mean, Morgan is the only one I really like, I think.
And he even pisses me off quite a few times.
And he pissed you off in the regular show too.
I remember during season eight, you were complaining about him.
He's annoying, but at least he's annoyingly interesting, right?
I mean, no one else is.
I don't care about any of the other members of this cast.
Do I?
Dad cares about Daniel.
I do care about Daniel.
I do care about Daniel.
I don't necessarily like everything they've done with his character,
but I do like Daniel, and I want him to be our guy.
Yeah.
I mean, in the beginning, his character was someone I really liked,
and then they turned it into, you know, he's losing his mind,
and we had to make him crazy.
And now he's back, so hopefully.
He's back with the Ovalteen.
I'm loving that.
Keep drinking it, bro.
It's all I'm saying.
Don't run out.
Maybe that's why we have to get to the docks.
We've got to find the shipping container that is full of Oval thing to keep Daniel going strong.
I'm all for that.
When they finally end the show, we have to do like a recap of all the ridiculous plot lines from every season.
100%.
You know, like the Walker Brain drugs dealers to.
Cowboys and Indians.
Like, that was literally a season.
Cowboys versus Indians.
Oof.
It's been a painful ride.
Prior to that, we had, we had, what's his face?
LA.
Who we had, yeah, but we haven't had, we had, was on the ship for a while, right?
On the island.
We had, what's his face?
Who hasn't been in this series yet?
The black guy.
Oh, wow.
Strand.
Strand.
We had Strand with his gay lover cartel member.
Yeah.
Down in Mexico, right?
It did cartels.
I love, I love, I love, I love Strand.
That's the one character I do.
I was very invested, especially after the nukes when he went all villainy.
Like, I know you weren't a huge fan of it, Jason, but I just loved it because it reminds me a fallout.
But, like, I just, I love, like, Strand grew on me as a character.
I get it.
He's an a-hole.
That only thinks for himself, but that's what I like about him.
post nuclear apocalypse type that that was cool so i agree with you there the thing with strand in it though
is that he was always the guy that like did everything to help himself but then there was like
growth you know like he was starting to not be that guy and then they pulled it back and then they
pulled him back and then that's what irritated me i was like okay is now you if you continue to
do that you know exactly what to expect every time you know he's always you know the ending before
they even have to reveal it so it's that's just stupid
whatever.
There were a lot of good,
a lot of good
episodes that were just, and I say
good episodes, I mean, stupid
with fear. They kept, they didn't,
they didn't do it right from the beginning, and they never got it
right after that. Like, there are some
things in fear, genuinely, that are amazing.
I genuinely believe that. There are some
things in fear that are genuinely like top-tier walking dead
stuff, but they are so surrounded by everything else.
What's sad is if you go back to those first few episodes of season one, it's got a cool
feel.
I know.
And they're like, oh, if you would just stay in that direction.
I know that we were so excited for it.
And it was so good.
It was the very beginning of the pandemic.
Yeah.
I'm sorry, the plague, the Walker plague.
It's not the pandemic.
My God, we're not.
It's not a pandemic.
And if they had only worn a mask, they'd have been fine.
But that's, don't get.
Sorry.
They,
it was perfect.
It's what we wanted.
Yeah.
And they just,
they just drove off the road with it.
I don't understand.
I never understood that.
It's kind of,
I'm wondering if like a lot of the stuff they wanted to do originally with fear,
they're now doing in Dead City.
Because that's what fear would have turned into.
Something like Dead City.
You know,
like rival gangs and all that stuff inside.
That'd be cool.
That would have been cool.
I assume that's what Dead City is going to be.
I don't know.
I hope so. I mean, it's going to have to be right there going into the city. My gosh, you're not.
You're going to NYC. I'm surprised that we didn't have any of that in King County, right? All we had was, you know, a couple of small herds of walkers and our Padre people and Morgan and Newk Lady of the kid. But we didn't have any other, any other inner city group show up going, this is our city?
Georgia didn't really, no one really took over that area of Georgia, I don't think.
I think that area was just overrun.
How far is, like, how far is like our main group now from this area, from King County?
The main group on the main walking dead.
There, they would be up, like, up Virginia, right?
Virginia, Pennsylvania, that area, because that's where the Commonwealth mainly is Boston, that area.
So like a 20-minute walk in this universe?
That's correct.
I just hop on
Dwight's horse and you're there.
One character
I wish was still here.
And I'll say this till I die.
It was a mistake killing off
John Dory. It worked at the
time, but I miss him.
I will say I do too.
And I've missed him even more because I
started rewatching Deadwood.
Because most of my shows are over
with and there's nothing. I haven't.
I know there's,
new stuff to watch. We can get into that. But I
restarted watching Deadwood again,
which, by the way, is a fantastic
show. Yeah. A fantastic
show. All the characters are
perfectly fit
for... I mean, it's just
fantastic show. But John Dory
obviously plays two different characters
in Deadwood. And so
you know, he's been on my mind
lately and I was missing him from fear
actually. That's a great point.
He's the guy that kills Wild
Bill. Correct. And then he also
He also plays the, he's the only guy that played two characters.
He also plays the guy that works for Hearst and then hangs himself.
Spoiler alert.
He plays, I didn't notice that.
I forget the guy that, I forget the guy's name that killed Wild Bill, whoever that was.
But then his name is Walcott or Colton.
I haven't watched this show.
Or something like that.
He works for the rich guy.
in season
to end of two or three
or whatever
and then he ends up killing himself
because he's a murderer
you know a serial killer kind of guy
or hey if you want to
anyway
he plays it
he plays two different characters
in Deadwood and I believe
he's the only one that did that
or hey like if you had to kill
John Dory make it
if you had to kill John Dory
Jr., why not keep John Dory
senior after the Teddy Ark
but he died again
can I just before we say goodbye
today. I would like you to
read the t-shirt
Jason that you're wearing
that I'm
seeing through our recording video
device. There are
two types of countries.
Those that use the metric system,
those that have landed on the moon.
Boo-ya.
Thank you.
Multiple countries landed on the moon.
Thank you for listening.
Thank you for listening.
That t-shirt is 100%
correct. And we need to be
clear that the moon is ours, the United States of America.
Those of you listening to this show that live outside the United States, you already
know that.
The moon is ours.
Let's be clear.
All right.
Thank you for listening to talking walking dead.
More the moon is our talk.
It's quite possible on chewing the fat, which is the mothership of this show.
So if you're not a subscriber, you're just listening to this show, you need to become
a subscriber.
Okay. I know it's free, but everybody likes free stuff, but nobody likes a free loader.
So just subscribe. Thank you for listening. Jason Butchell, myself, Jeff Fisher, and Maximus Fisher.
We'll be back next week for another edition of Talking Walking Dead.
