Season 8, episode three, titled The Long Night of the Game of Thrones, the final season, the final episodes.
We're going to cover it all.
What happened, what could have happened, what should have happened on this Talking Thrones.
All right, all right, I can't take the whole open.
I'll play the whole open at the end.
Seriously, I play the whole open in the beginning.
It drives me crazy.
All right, so welcome to Talking Thrones with myself, Jason Buttrill and Amber Fisher.
We also have a special guest today.
Dylan, he's been out in my podcast before Chewing the Fat.
I've proved his smartness a couple of times on my back.
I didn't show that much.
But apparently he's a big fan of Talking Thrones of Game of Thrones.
So thank you for coming along, Bill.
Oh, yeah.
I'm glad to be here.
But he's not telling you.
I had to beg him to come on the show.
I walked into his dressing room, which I didn't know was okay or not.
I said, please, Jeffie, let me come on.
It's good.
Just like you, Jason.
We need more brain power in here once we lost Max.
Because I love Game of Thrones.
I know, but you need to just talk to me because then I'd just tell him to do it.
Well, I wish I'd known that.
Now I know.
Now I know.
I'll go over his head next time.
Exactly.
So the IMDB description,
the long night,
the Knight King and his army
have arrived at Winterfill
and the great battle begins.
Of course, like we talked about last week,
where was the witch?
She shows up at the very beginning.
Right at the beginning.
It was very good to see Melisandre on there.
Let's just,
we'll just begin with the battle
and the stunning visuals.
Before we get into the,
you know,
the breaking of hearts and who lived
and who died and the battle itself.
I mean, the visuals were amazing.
They were good.
Like, okay, so before I gush all over this episode, which I fully intend to do, I'm going to gush all over this episode.
Let me throw out one criticism so it doesn't seem like I'm a fanboy, which I am a fanboy.
But I don't want it to make a like, so this is my one criticism.
So like, why was the Battle of the Bastards so good last, what, two seasons again?
Right, a couple seasons.
Why was it so good?
It's because it was very, very light.
You could see everything.
You could taste everything.
You could smell everything for crying out loud.
It was so visceral.
And that's why it was like, to me, that was, to me, the Battle of Bastars was the best fight sequence I think I've ever seen, period, bar none.
Even better than, like, Helms, or the Helms Deep from Lord of the Rings.
It was better.
But this was so dark.
Like, there was a very good visuals.
I'm with you.
It was so dark.
So there was times when you, like, didn't know if things were coming or going or, you know what I'm saying?
Like, I don't know.
But it was still good.
It was just, I, this battle sequence was long and very good.
The way they separated everything, you know, like intense action, then like a character-driven
scene.
That was amazing.
Yes.
That was really good.
But as far as overall battle sequences, I kind of got to tip it to battle the bastards.
Well, they did that because of not to become bored with just the battle.
So they put those scenes in there.
No, I do that.
That's what I liked about it.
But, I mean, the cinematography, it also brought you right into the middle of the battles
because you were right there from their point of view.
so it was a POV.
Sure, just in a dark closet.
Exactly.
And they wanted to, you know, kind of try to outdo themselves.
So, I mean, I know they talked about how, what a great 55 nights of shooting during
freezing Northern Ireland rain was.
That's insane.
I know.
And they talked about, I know I saw an interview, I read an interview from Aria who said,
Macy Williams, who said that, you know, it was so long and so hard and was every day getting
up.
But she just knew that she was part of something that was going to be huge.
So it was just, you know, you just got to.
it out. Fifty-five. That's got to be like how long it takes to do a regular movie, right?
Yeah. It was the length of a regular movie. That's insane, man. Well, I mean, right. And it was so
dark, but then you have, you know, the shots of the swords lighting up. That was cool.
A Dothrocky sword. See him across the field, see them across the field, all those lights
going. Okay. So that, right? I mean, so I'm going to pull out a lot of nerddom right here,
nerddom right here.
But there is a very popular video from, I think, World of Warcraft video games of Leroy Jenkins.
So basically the entire group is together.
They're trying to figure out how to beat the boss in the video game.
And then all of a sudden, you know what I'm talking about, right?
Oh, yeah.
All of a sudden, in the middle of nowhere, Leroy Jenkins, he just gets sick of it.
And he's like, all right, time's up.
Let's do this and shouts, Leroy Jenkins.
He charges in and screws up the plan.
That was the Dothraki last night.
And everyone's like, hold your ground.
The left flank, the right flank.
And then all of a start, the Darth Rocky.
Lee Roarge.
And it's charging it.
I was like, what are he doing?
Well, we got flaming swords.
Let's go.
Yeah, they're in the flaming swords.
We can't lose.
And of course you had snow next to him, charge him with him.
The ghost.
Ghost.
I don't know why I say snow.
Yep.
John Snow.
Which I was incredibly worried about.
I was so pissed.
Yeah, because we didn't know whether he died or not.
They just left it.
So I was like, what are they?
I thought they were just going to get rid of him.
We said last week that they're probably just going to get rid of him so they didn't have
to CGI him anymore.
But I saw he's in the pre-react.
you for the next episode. I just saw him.
So he lived. So he lived. He lived. Good. And we got to figure that he lived, right?
Because when you go down the, uh, who we lost last night, we didn't lose a lot.
It's like, the whole episode, we're like, oh, please don't die, please don't die. And by the end of it,
you're like, wait a minute. Nobody freaking died.
I was like, wait a minute. When there was just a river of dead coming towards people, I thought,
wow, that's it. You know, 10 favorite characters is going to be snuffed out and in
right. We got to deal with it. River of dead is a very good way to put. That
That looked like the floodgates.
That was crazy.
That was like, how do you, like, remember like World War Z?
Like how they perturred.
It reminded me of that.
Yes, it did.
Yeah, it did.
I would say it looked like a swarm of locusts.
Yeah.
Just coming.
Bugs, yeah, like Star Trek troopers.
You know, they saw that, like how the bugs is exactly like that.
And I like when they had the river of fire around the castle and then you realized, wait,
they're just going to go ahead and put a bunch of them on top of the fire until they can walk over it.
Yeah.
It's good stuff.
I was saying, yeah.
Why are they scared?
Like, they're not scared to just sacrifice themselves.
Yeah, they were waiting.
They were waiting for the rest of the locust to catch up.
Give them the order.
So we had, I mean, we had plenty of, plenty of visuals, and it was dark.
I will give you that.
It was dark.
And it did seem like, you know, especially after the Night King brought on the Nor'easter
where we couldn't see and you've got John and Dineris.
What happened?
I mean, they're out flying around aimlessly in the storm.
I'm like,
whee?
I mean,
come on.
You're the king and queen.
Stop it.
Here's the other thing, too.
The plan,
she blew it out the window
when she saw all the Dothraki die.
Now,
did they die?
I saw some running back.
Some of them made it back.
Yeah, some of them made it back.
Right.
But she just watched her people
that she love completely decimated.
Yeah, the majority.
I'd say the vast majority of them.
Broke her heart.
And that's when she jumped on the dragon
because John tried to stop her.
dead earth.
And she realized that all the people
are still alive
are the ones that hated her.
Anyway.
That was really sad though
because the Dothraki are basically extinct.
They're gone from the earth now
as far as I understand it more or less.
Right.
Except for what was left over, right?
Whoever made it out.
And did any of them survive
the other battle inside the walls of the castle?
Some of them survived.
Like in the promo video,
it looks very, very bleak as far as
who's left.
But they've got like their entire
All their forces in the promo video are out front.
And, like, John and a few of them are lighting, like, you know, funeral pyres.
Yeah.
And there is, like, geez, a handful of them left.
Right.
I mean, and they have to fight, like, what was it, like a 30,000 strong army from the Golden Company?
We never lost a fight or whatever.
Ain't looking too good.
No, it isn't.
And if we want to step and jump ahead a little bit, we know that the, you know, both dragons we may not have.
I mean, they're both alive, but one may be just licking his work.
Right.
Yeah.
I mean,
they're definitely hurting.
So it would be lucky to maybe have one dragon.
They're both flying around in the promo video.
Okay.
So they both can fly.
They both can fly.
I mean,
the one,
and I don't know which one was which,
but,
you know,
when he was,
you know,
took off and he's shaking off the river of locust off of them,
you know.
That was cool.
I feel like he would be tough to,
you know,
even he's going to survive,
but it'd be tough for him to still be him.
That was, that was like, you seem like when like a bunch of little bugs like, you know,
get on, you know, swarm the spider.
That was some straight Nat Geo crap right there.
I was like, dang.
Because if we slide away and they're all dropping off, it was like a pile of ants.
Straight up.
Yeah.
On a lizard.
That was Nat Geo.
Maris is watching fall next to her.
You might want to move.
Out of the way, baby.
Draw on said, screw it at that point.
And he's like, all right, Danaris, you're on your own.
I got some back at home problems.
And this is the second time, right, that John has come.
face to face with the Night King and nothing has happened.
I mean, eyeball to eyeball.
And you think, okay, come on.
We're going to fight now.
What are we going to do?
And then he brings back to dead.
That's a never-ending dead.
Tragedy of this, really, is they never paid that off.
No, they did.
Never.
Like, that's, they should have had them at least lock swords a little bit.
You know what I mean?
Something.
And then get separated.
Something.
I felt like that should have been something there.
You know what I was waiting for right there?
I was waiting for him to do, like, his.
is again, battle the bastards with Ramsey Bolton,
where he was like, let's finish us the old way.
You know, like, you against me, no one has to die.
Like that would have been, at that point,
a lot of people had already died.
So I was like, I thought he was going to raise everyone,
and they were all just going to kind of separate and circle up
and they were going to go at it.
That's how I thought it was going to happen.
But no.
What do I know?
I was waiting for the Night King to say something.
Right?
I kind of almost wanted him to speak,
because there was one point where he was walking up
and really close shot of his face.
He looked like Bran.
Yeah, he did.
That's what I was, I was thinking.
A lot of people.
He was about to say, hello, Bran.
Yeah.
Yeah, or something that said that he was Brand.
Yes.
Because what happened to Brand?
Right.
Brand is underneath the tree.
He says, I have to go away.
Oh.
And, you know, apparently the drugs were kicking in.
So he, you know, he went away.
His eyes rolled back.
And then he flew off with his, with his horde of blackbirds and three-eyed ravens.
He went bird-watching.
And then he was gone.
We didn't even get to see what he was looking.
at. I mean, I was waiting for like, you know, a three-eyed raven shot of the
Knight King and what was happening in the battle. Nothing. He sent the Ravens to tell the
Knight King where he was. Right. That's what he had to do, but that's what probably it was.
And at one point, I thought the whole battle scene was Brand's vision. Yeah, at that one point when it
was battle, because after he went away with the Ravens, you thought that's his vision. I thought
it flipped into his vision. Oh, I see what you're saying.
I see what you're saying.
And they were going to still be in like the war room.
He was about to see like the future of the battle.
Exactly.
That's what I thought it was.
Like for a little moment.
That's like the end of, uh, what is that?
Twilight or whatever.
He's like the final movie of Twilight.
I would have been pissed if that would have been that happened.
Personally.
I don't like, come on man.
That part was funny though because I was like that was like so like everyone's like
okay yeah.
It's like you do this, you do this.
Everyone's dying.
It's like real dire.
And then he's like giving some, he gives the young.
little pep talk. And he's like, all right, cool. Now I'm going to go check out the migratory
patterns of the local crow population for a little while. What are you doing?
Later on, you know, some really bad stuff is going to happen. I got to go.
Yeah. Oh, do you see what the crows are doing today? Check that out. I got a test tomorrow.
I got to study. See you later. That was really bad. And then we had,
I thought it was fascinating that when we go back to the crypt. And, I mean, there was some,
you're right about the, where we had the battles.
And then we go back to, you know, the character, the character drawn of the episode where we see what's happening in the crypt.
And we were a little, I want to say we were right and wrong as far as the crypt goes because we knew, we did call that, hello, there's dead down there.
They're going to come back to life, thanks to the Night King.
That's what's going to happen.
But not much.
I mean, I guess if you've been dead for a long, long time, it takes the Night King a little bit more power.
And moral of the story is never put your dead relatives underneath your house.
which I guarantee you in Westeros that will never happen again.
They'll be like, remember that time when the night keep?
Yeah, that's not a good idea.
Let's put them 100 yards over that way.
Yeah, right.
I mean, that's when we started.
If you look at it, if you think of it as the past and now the future,
that's why we bury people.
Away, yeah, because we saw this coming.
You're welcome.
So we also have, I was, I was, we did call that we were going to end the battle, right?
That the Night King was going to be over here.
here.
Yeah, we did.
But one of our theories was is that we were going to do kind of the Rocky series,
you know, where you lose.
Winterfell falls and then you come back.
You got to rush it, you refight.
Start training.
Yep.
And I thought maybe that would happen, but of course not.
We have to fall.
We still have three big long episodes to take over the kingdom again, you know,
take over the thrones again, which good luck.
But we'll get to a little bit of that.
All right.
So let's go back to the Crip real quick.
Okay.
Sansa and Tyrion.
Yeah.
We did get the answer they weren't married anymore.
They're not?
No.
No.
They said.
We should have stayed married.
So I'm not sure how that.
I don't know where the divorce happened.
Yeah.
You know, or the, you know, maybe they just said, hey, I was really drunk and we're just going to get this annulled.
Okay.
Is that good?
Yeah, it's an old.
Get out of here.
But I love that she was like you were the best one.
Yeah.
Well, he treated her like, we was great to her.
I know.
Because all he wanted to do was screw the whole.
anyway.
I tell you what,
that might,
that might end up happening.
I know.
Yeah.
That's a very real possibility.
And the kiss to her hand.
It was so sweet.
But I thought she was going to lean over and kiss him because it looked like that tension
was there.
It's like,
come on,
come on.
Come on.
Come on.
A little bit.
Then he said,
she's not leaning in to me,
bitch.
I'll have to kiss her hand.
Because Sata,
I know,
I liked the,
uh,
with her and area where she,
I don't know how to use this.
Stick it with the pointy end.
Seriously, come on now.
Well, that goes back to needle.
Yeah.
John told her.
I know, but she's smarter than that.
I feel like we dumbed her down a little bit for that.
And then we, so we're in the crypt and we had that.
And then I found it fascinating that it just seemed like, and I guess that's what they wanted.
But, I mean, the people in the crypt at that point were they're just waiting to die.
Right.
I mean, they're hearing everything going on around them.
they're just like, okay, well, we're dead.
Even Varis said, hey, at least we're in a crypt already.
Right, that's good line.
Everybody's like, that's not funny, dude.
That's a home.
Why don't you go say that out somewhere else because that's not funny down here.
Yeah, it was a, that scene was also a really good callback to when Tyrion.
And he actually mentioned this a little bit, the Blackwater Bay thing at that time.
But it was Circe and Sansa.
Remember, they were with the wretch of the ladies and they were in.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They were locked away.
Right, during that battle.
Same exact thing.
Yeah, exactly.
And actually, I remember Searcy had Sonsa sing during that time.
Yes.
I was like, I was just waiting for it.
Like, here she comes.
She's going to start singing.
Never happened.
But I just, because they're doing so many parallels to the other seasons.
That would have been great, although Sonsa's not going to.
She was pissed that she had to sing there.
I mean, she was shaking.
She was shaking.
She was shaking that she had to sing there.
Right.
So she's not, now that she's in charge, no way she sings.
Every one of you other people can start singing about I'm not singing.
I'm surprised you didn't say that.
I don't look at me.
I ain't singing.
I did that once.
Yeah.
Put in my time.
Yeah.
So let's talk about who all we lost, who we thought we were going to lose, who we didn't lose.
I mean, I found it fascinating that really, I really did expect to lose a lot more, a lot more of our people.
I feel like it was, I feel like it was, well, I don't know if it was, I just feel like, I guess they had the special cloak of, you know, all mighty around them for the series.
but it just feels like, you know, they should have died.
Yeah, well, I mean, they set it up as if they called their shot, Babe Ruth style.
They were like, you cannot have that much screen time to like Grey Worm and Missandy
unless you're going to kill Grey Worm.
Right.
You know, I was like, I thought he was going to be the first one to die.
I know.
I had seen that too.
Totally.
And then, like, you cannot have that meeting or that, that moment between Jamie and Brienne.
Right.
If one of them is not going to die.
Right.
One of them has to die.
I know.
One of them had to die.
And yet, no.
That's so weird.
Yeah.
And Greyworm.
Another great call on Gray Room.
I mean, I already sold the timeshare on the beaches for those two.
And now they're going to be wanting to buy it again.
Oh, yeah, that's what they were saying.
They're like, oh, we're going back to the beach.
I was like, oh, you're so dead.
You're so dead.
Right.
That's crazy.
So we lost, we didn't lose, we didn't lose Tyrion, we didn't lose Sonsa.
We didn't lose John.
We didn't lose DeNarius.
we lost, who do we lose?
We lost the Knight King.
The Night King.
We'll get to the Night King death because that was tremendous.
The first death was the Knights
Command, the Commander,
Knights Watch Commander guy.
Oh yeah, their old friend.
Yeah.
He saved Sam and then back of the leg.
Got it.
Yeah.
Through the eye.
Sam was pissed me off at that point.
I'm like, dude.
He turned into a little plus there for a little bit.
You're getting everyone killed.
It's not like it's his first fight.
I know he was the one that made the point of.
I'm the only one who's killed a Walker.
I'm the only one who's killed a White Walker.
but I'm going to run like a little baby.
What do you do?
I know, right?
What are you doing out there?
I was literally pissed off at that point.
And then it continued on.
I did.
I only thought he was just on his back like a turtle
a entire time getting eaten.
He looked like a ride.
Like it's a small world ride.
You just see him there like,
oh no,
oh no.
John just keeps going on to the next time.
I know John looked back at him and wanted to help him so bad,
but he knew he couldn't.
And that was a little heartbreaking.
I agree.
That's what I figured that he was going to die.
I thought he was dead right there.
Yes, me too.
He should have died there.
I think he should have died there.
I mean, we had to have lose somebody like that in this episode, and we did because the way,
and again, the way they shot it, right?
John looks back and says like, dude, I want to help, but no.
And that happened multiple times.
Like, you would think that, like, they're surrounded.
You think there's no way they're getting out of it.
And then it would cut away to a different part of it.
Then they'd be back.
Like, remember how many times Brean and Jamie?
Yes, they were bad against the wall.
It's like, how are they still?
And then all of a sudden, when they come back to them, they're still fighting in that same location.
Yeah.
But I don't know.
They weren't overwhelmed by the locust at that point.
I mean, it just, it did seem a little strange.
We lost, we lost Jora, right?
Norma, which was, you know, of course, De Narias was, you know, broken up over that.
He lasted quite a while.
He lasted quite a while.
And there's another one that is a big believer of Dinerius that's gone, right?
I mean, she's lost.
And he was in love with her.
Yeah.
I mean, and that's why I think that's the only way he did it.
Was that his last words?
I love you.
No, he didn't say anything.
No, he looked like he was trying to get it out.
Yeah, but I feel like he didn't say it.
Yeah, well, I mean, that's what DeNaris is telling herself.
The last thing that he had said to her was to be friends with Sansa and stop being so hard on Tyrion.
And so I think like those are going to be, those last words are going to be really.
Yeah, right.
But when he was laying on the ground on and he looked like he was trying to say something to her and it looked like he was trying to say, I love you.
That's a woman's thought.
the guy is sitting there going
I'm about to die
I don't love anything right now
okay the woman is like
oh he wants to tell me he loves me
that better be your last words to me
what he was really thinking was
nice rack
before I die
could you take it off
I love when the dragon
flew down and covered her
to protect her as she was crying
it was like a big giant
dragon hug
yes it was
put your clothes back on
Oh my God
Please excuse my husband
We lost
And of course we lost
Leanna Marmot, right?
She had a great death
With killing the giant
The giant walker
That was great
Dude and that girl
Better not come back
Because if she comes back
If she was that badass
When she was alive
If she like...
Didn't she open her eyes?
Yeah, she did open her eyes
Right
Just a second
I'm just saying
She better stay dead
Because she'll be like
If we thought the night
King was going to be bad.
Leanna Mormont's going to be like that times a million.
Jeez.
Night King got nothing up me.
I'm taking over.
There's a new sheriff and town.
It's on, bitches.
No doubt about that.
But she did come back for a little bit, right?
When he was bringing all the people
that were already dead back. Yeah, as people were dying,
they weren't instantly resurrected. It was only
when the Night King did his thing that they came back
at once. Which I thought.
His little raising a dead.
It's never ending with this guy.
It doesn't matter. You can kill
everybody. He still just, all right, come back.
What?
So then we get to
We get to the Night King death
As he was
You know, being Mr. Badass with the brand
And I'm not real sure how area
Theon death at that same time
Yes.
I don't know if he needed to die
Because I don't think he bought time for Aria
You know what I mean?
I think he just kind of ran in to be a hero.
I don't know.
I think he kind of, but he did buy time.
I think he distracted.
I think I felt like that was the
that was brand saying you're done good but you got this one last little thing you need to do to just you know to charge in and that distracted him enough
to let Aria come in.
I'm with you.
So that he didn't realize.
And then he'd really like, oh, crap, there she is.
And he turns around and grabs her, you know, which was great.
And you think, and I think that's what Ari's going to die, right?
You think, okay, well, so we still have, well, I figure, okay, so Ari is going to die here.
We still have a John fight coming.
Or we have Winterfall, or, you know, Winterfell falling, and we do the, we do the rocky thing.
You know, we're somewhere in there.
But with her, and to quote, to quote, to quote,
the tweet from Jason Butchrell, area effing stark.
Oh, dude, I was, I stood up in my chair.
I was like literally with both hands clenched in the air at that point.
I was like, holy crap.
And I felt so stupid.
Like, it was so telegraphed for the past, what, three seasons or so or more?
I just felt so dumb.
Like, were we talking about this on air off air, but the, the Melisandra meeting that she had with him at first,
or with her first. Oh, right, right, right, right. And then that second media, and last night's
episode when she was like, and blue eyes, you know, like the Knight King's blue eyes, that you're
going to kill, shut his. And I still didn't even think about it because I was waiting for the John
Stark thing. Yes. But, but then like the, remember when Gilly was reading through Sam's stolen books
and it showed her dagger, the cat's ball dagger? Oh, yeah. And it was right where that, like, and
the page that she was reading was about the prince that was promised, the Zora High. And I was like,
okay, when Aria got the dagger,
it still didn't dawn on me.
Right.
But they've been telling us this forever.
So it was the prophecy and the witch reminder
if she goes, what do you say to death?
Not today.
Yeah.
And then what was it?
Brown eyes?
Blue eyes.
Green eyes.
So that's the prophecy of who's to come
that Aria has to kill.
I did not.
I felt so stupid.
Same.
I was like,
I was like, I was reading it.
I was going, oh.
I was sitting home thinking,
man, Jason's got to be feeling really dumb.
But I don't feel dumb, but Jason.
She was like, what do we say to the god of death?
And she ran off like, she had something to do.
And I was like, where she wanted off to?
Wait, wait.
And then forgot.
I didn't even think about it.
Yeah.
I forgot.
Completely out of side of mind.
I was like, oh, she's out probably chasing down the migratory patterns of
crows like the brother was.
Maybe that's a stark thing.
I don't know.
With the people of no faces.
The faceless men.
Faceless men.
Yeah.
That's what I thought.
So, okay, right before.
aria goes running up.
Did you notice the one
his captain or something, his hair?
Did you see that little swish of hair?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He looked over or something like that.
Yeah. And yeah, yeah, yeah.
That was Aria, but.
I guess that was, I guess he was moving so fast.
Yeah.
She was a flash at that point.
Right.
Okay.
So then, and she talked about how she would have done thing.
I've read an article about, from Macy,
talking about her training.
in fighting for the show and how she's mostly right-handed,
but she felt like she felt left-hand was kind of dominant.
So she said, well, I'll just use, I'll be left-handed.
And then that was before she had all this fighting to do.
And she fed the last few seasons, it was just,
that was just dumb of me to be left-handed because it was so hard.
But you saw here at the end when she drops it, right?
Yeah.
So she goes into, she uses both.
And you noticed that was the same move that she pulled on Brian when they were
fight when they were sparring.
Was that last season?
Remember that?
When she was like,
they were showing off and they were sparring?
That was about two seasons ago.
Was it?
Yeah.
Remember that?
That's how she ended up.
She would have defeated Brian.
But she like,
I remember so like she disarmed her with a main sword or whatever.
Brian held her arm and she dropped it to the same exact move.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was a cool call back.
Yeah.
So, yeah, because the blade was what,
Valerian steel and it was Little Finger had it.
And I am so, I'm still even, I'm just shocked.
that he died like that I was expecting like because of all the prophecy with the whole I mean if you if you go online
everyone was saying what had to happen for the night king to be killed they called the dragon fire thing
which we didn't talk about how that was ineffective right I didn't think valerian still was gonna do it on
its own remember like in the in the in the prophecy in the books the prince it was promises or
what we thought was John which I guess is are you that's what I'm starting to think I think it
might be just a lie and there was no prince who was promised
That's possible too.
I've kind of been thinking that recently.
But in that prophecy, the prince, the guy that defeated the king the last time,
he had to take his Valerian Steer sword or whatever,
and he had to plunge it into the heart of the woman that he loved.
Then it caught fire.
Then he was able to kill the Night King.
So I was like, oh, then he's going to, I was one of the people thinking he was going to
have to kill Dineris.
And his sword then would be able to kill something like that.
Which I would not be opposed to.
Killin Denear?
She's like, let her go.
Yeah, she's like one of my favorites.
That one sucked.
She would die.
Yeah, some people are saying they might use, like, another color of dragonglass to somehow cure the Knight King, or, you know, they might find a way to, well, I guess they did uncreate him, but in a more explosive way.
Did his sword shatter, too?
I don't remember.
I don't know.
I don't remember his body blowing.
I don't know.
Right.
I remember him falling to pieces, but did the sword because that was white dragon glass.
If we look at it that way, or white ice, whatever it was made out of.
Right.
All right.
So now we have, we have, we're not going to bring the Night King back, right?
We still have to battle CERC.
And we still have to go into Kings Landing and fight to all these dinkleberries with her.
That battle is coming, right?
I mean, but and we've got the interfighting between John and Dinerius and who's in charge, right?
Yeah.
And in the promo, it shows like, did you guys, did everyone watch the promo?
I did.
So at the end of the promo, remember, she goes, we won the Great War now for the last war.
So she's the only one sitting behind the table in the Winterfell Hall.
John's not sitting next to her and I didn't see Sanzas sitting next to her.
That's like that's kind of weird.
That is.
I figured she would have to do something in this battle to get the respect of the North.
She's got it.
I think maybe she has it now.
Yeah.
That they've seen her put her life on the line.
But weird that there wouldn't be another Stark sitting next to her making an...
That is for sure.
But what about the North is definitely a big conversation.
Yeah.
Uh, yeah.
And how psycho is DeNaris going to get on being paranoid or...
over what John's going to say.
Really bad.
Yeah.
Right?
And how paranoid is John?
Because, I mean, he already realized like, she only cares about the throne.
Right.
Yeah, okay.
She's going to kill my ass.
Right.
That's what he's like, yeah.
When they were standing up there looking down at the dragons or when they were standing
up on that hill.
Yeah, when they're up on the hill looking down going, then people are going to die down
there.
I'm going to sit up here for a little bit with the dragons.
Well, did you notice how much space was between her and John?
No, I didn't notice.
Yeah, they were not close.
They were not close at all.
Yeah, well, John was like, I'm not going to be too close.
throw me off.
Yeah.
Whoops.
She's going to push them off.
Pull a Jamie Brand.
Like, oh, the things I do for love.
And push John over.
Yes.
Talk about a callback.
Oh, can we get to the hound?
Let's get to the hound real quick.
Yes.
Okay.
So he was done.
He was toast.
He was just.
Had enough.
We're all going to die.
It's over.
Yeah.
And the one guy goes, well, she doesn't think it's over.
Barrick.
Oh, he died too.
We didn't mention it.
Yeah.
I know.
Oh.
And immediately.
he sees Aria up there and she goes running, he takes off after her and basically saves her life.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was great.
She's like really the only one that like...
That's it.
He only cares about her.
I'm telling you she's the one that's going to be sitting on that throne.
Are you?
I think so.
I think this is what everything is leading up to.
Aria doesn't want that.
No, but I think that's where it's going to go.
She might have to, I mean, that's her deal, right?
I don't know.
I don't, okay, personally, I don't, I don't, okay, personally, I don't
think there is going to be an iron throne. Okay. So let's
do this. Let's do this. Let's, uh, I know,
I know you've got to go. So we'll wrap up this
episode. Jason's got to go do something for some
diggle-with a guy that's going. All right, we can keep going.
That's fine. We can do it without Jason. If I got a text, I'll run.
Okay. I know he's promoting some big thing happening on the blazed TV.
This week. Big whoop. Okay. Glenn, Mr. Socialism. We got it. We're talking
about the game of throats. Wednesday, Central.
It's the realm here. Come on the Blaze TV.
And it's free.
You don't have to be a subscriber, but please subscribe.
Yeah, please.
BlazTV.com slash Glenn for the discount.
There you go.
Thank you.
I'm happy.
I have to go on a radio.
There's your problem.
All right.
So where are we headed?
Ari doesn't want it.
We can talk about, maybe we talk about, maybe we next week, we have a better idea
and maybe we call our own predictions next week on who is going to sit on the throne.
After next week, we'll have a better idea of what the possibilities are.
Yeah. So you want us to make that prediction now?
No, let's wait until next week to make the next week. After next week, we'll be able to see, you know, we can all make our own predictions on who's going to sit on the throne.
Although you may stick with yours that there isn't going to be a throne.
I don't think there is. Next episode, let's do that.
Like next episode, I think will probably be another big set up episode because how do you follow that up?
Plus, their director that directs all their big battles, because we know there's at least one more big battle.
their director that does that who did battle the bastards he did uh hard home uh which was awesome uh and he did this one he is also scheduled to do episode five so okay so next episode i'm assuming it's going to be a regular getting the pieces set up between the surcy and the aftermath everything yeah and then five will probably be surcy against whatever's left and then the gold what are they called golden company golden company yeah i don't like those people already go on i'm gone oh really i think they're going to switch sides well i
I said something similar, yeah, because they're Targaryian ancestors, right?
They were started by a Targaryian bastard a long time ago, and they had to flee because, you know, the other Targaryians kicked them out because there was a big civil war.
Yeah.
And so that's where their lineage goes to, the Targaryans.
Wow.
They're going to see those dragons flying around with two Targaryen heads.
And I think you're right.
I think they feel.
Oh, that's a good call.
That would be something, right?
That's awesome.
That would be really awesome.
You know, one of the things that happened last night, too, was great.
I mean, last night was, you know, Game of Thrones night.
You know, the world is watching Game of Thrones.
And Amber found got this great tweet.
I'll let her read it to you.
So Kim Kardashian West decides during Game of Thrones.
Keeping up with the Kardashians airs in 45 minutes, East Coast.
Let's live tweet.
Someone responses.
Kim, there's people that are dying in which are five.
I'm talking about being unaware of the world around you.
I mean, that tells you what kind of bubble she lives and people are dying in Winterfell.
That's so great.
That's so great.
It is absolutely great.
So we had, this episode was 82 minutes long.
We got the next three are 78, 80, and 80.
So it felt pretty long, pretty long, pretty dark.
We still have some bodies to die.
The next two are what?
78 80 and 80.
Also very similar to you.
Yeah, pretty close.
Wow.
Okay.
Pretty close.
Yeah, it was only a three minute open this week.
Was it really?
With the commercial and the opening, it was only three minutes.
I didn't even notice.
Now, since I'm watching it on the HBO now, I just like, I fast forward all the way through.
How do you get the feeling for the show?
That builds you up into the show.
It was at the three minute mark.
Something I noticed, if you do watch it on there, it's also cool, too, because you get an extra, like, I think the after thing, like where they do the inside the episode.
Exactly.
They stayed and watched that too.
Totally.
Yeah.
And plus it's like over,
it was an hour and 36 minutes or something like that.
I was like,
ooh,
so good.
I know they give you a little inside and stuff like that.
That's a must watch.
If you're not watching those,
you're wrong.
You should watch that.
It's so good.
There you go.
And on top of that,
you must listen to Talking Thrones.
I mean,
it's just that simple.
Those three things,
the show,
the after show,
Talking Thrones.
All right.
Your life cannot be complete without either.
What I like to when the Redway
showed up and she sees Davros and she goes,
no need to execute me.
I'll be dead by morning or sun up,
whatever she said.
Yeah.
That's another death we forgot to mention.
And she was.
I mean,
we knew that,
I mean,
she just walked out and turned into dust, right?
And turned back into the old lady.
Took her necklace off.
I kept her alive.
Mm-hmm.
Was that dragon glass?
Maybe.
I mean,
we got to see,
we got to see her turn into the old lady once at,
up on,
up at the,
I don't remember where it was.
Yeah,
it was up.
Some mountain caves.
I saw him.
saw her.
It was either Stannis or Sir Davos who saw her like that.
Yeah.
I don't think they saw her though, right?
I thought she was by herself.
It was up in the...
Oh, maybe.
You're talking about what?
You're talking about what?
You're talking about the other season.
Yeah.
No one saw her then.
No, no.
But Davos saw her last night.
Yes.
I thought someone saw her in old form, but I don't know.
I might be misremembered.
No, I don't think so.
No, because when they were up, she was, they were at the night's watch.
Right?
After she saved, after she saved her just before she saved John.
Yeah, yeah.
She went into that room and turned old.
Oh, yeah, there's nobody in there.
Okay.
Yeah, there was nobody in there.
I think she was talking to someone and then that person left.
That's what happened.
She was starting to like relax and took up her necklace.
So we knew, I mean, we knew that she, you know, turned into, turned into the old woman like.
The old.
Is she?
Ancient.
He's old as you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
So, uh, any last thoughts, Amber?
Ooh.
I know we probably, we missed.
I mean, we could, we could be here for another two hours.
And last thoughts, um, Tyrion kills Searcy.
Wow.
You know, we talked about that.
We did.
Amber and I talked about that last night.
If Aria doesn't kill Searcy, I write.
Yeah.
I'm with you.
I know, but what if you have, okay, so, uh, let's, let's think about.
Circe kills Jamie.
So Tyrion has to kill Searcy, right?
No, I know what it is.
Circe kills Jamie.
Aria takes Jamie's face.
Tyrion distracts her
Aria kills
Circe as Jamie
So that's very possible
I've heard people theorize that before
I like that
They use she uses it to get basically
Walk in and get her
The guard to drop
Basically she turns around
And she's always been prophesize
that Jamie is to kill
She will die by the hand
Of a younger brother
Huh
Was it that?
I thought it was like a younger
More Beautiful
Will come to take all you hold
I thought it was younger brother
I don't know
I've heard so many things.
It's like,
it could be both,
honestly,
so many prophecies.
All right.
Final thoughts?
No,
it was a great episode.
No complaints except for the,
I just wish that it was a little bit more,
I could have seen a little bit more.
I'm not a big fan of the dark.
I like it.
Fight scenes.
But it was,
but it was,
I know what they were going for.
They were going for like a horror movie.
Like a big fight in a horror movie setting,
which is fine.
But,
but,
but I know,
it was great.
I think the next episode is probably going to be a big setup and then another big fight.
So when we have a little bit next week during the setup week, maybe we'll throw back to this episode again and do some remembrances there.
Dylan, thanks for joining us.
Any last thoughts?
You know, you're saying that DeNaris is kind of paralleling the Mad Queen.
I think Circe is too because in the promo, they show her not wearing a black dress anymore, but a red dress.
And so I think that she's going to spiral down into paranoia, not trusting Jamie, stacking up wildfire, just like the Mad King.
So that's kind of what I think they're going to do next episode.
Right.
Can we keep him?
That's a good call.
Please.
Final thoughts?
Thanks for listening to Talking Thrones.
Sure.
Of course Dylan could hang out.
Of course.
You gave no final thoughts.
Yeah.
What a cop out.
Which means I'm going to get them all at home.
You know, I enjoyed the episode.
I really enjoyed the episode.
I'm kind of with you on the darkness,
although I understand exactly what they were going for,
so I enjoyed it.
There were a few scenes in the, in the episode that really, I just kind of, you know, they were, I felt like they wanted, they were flying blind.
The dragons are flying blind.
It's the storm.
We lost.
We had, we had, we had brand go away.
We had that, we had that storyline just disappear.
There were a couple of storylines that just seemed to just go away.
And I don't know what the thug thinking was with that.
I'm not sure if we're going to get that back or if we just, that's just, oh, poof.
Well, we forgot about that.
We're just moving on.
Speaking of, how do you not have a headless Ned Stark chasing everybody down trying to...
Right?
How?
How?
Thank you.
So, apparently, they have to have a head.
Maybe so.
Oh, yeah, maybe.
That's probably it.
Yeah.
But that's...
Oh, come on, no.
So we just see Ned's head.
It could have been sewed back on or something.
Ned's head on top of the crypt, just moving around a little bit.
He's trying to bite their ankles.
His chitter his hands.
That would have been awesome.
Is that dad?
Yeah.
Bind my head?
biting my ankle
It's just a minor annoyance
