Season 8, episode 5, titled More Time Than You Know.
And we have some exciting news during this broadcast today.
The broadcast is Talking Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead edition.
Welcome to it.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchell, and Maximus Fisher.
For Talking Walking Dead, the Fear Edition episode description on IMDB,
The Heroes Fight the Clock, and De Padres forces.
So we kicked it off right from the end of the episode last week where we're racing to save Grace after the Walker bite.
And I will say that before I get your thoughts, Jason and Maximus, I will say that travel time is nothing in this show.
Absolutely nothing.
We have mastered time travel.
Man, we have mastered travel across this United States.
I love it.
And I hope that we get there before we actually enter into the real walking dead world.
But I want that to be, you know, I want to be able to travel like that.
Well, I mean, it's the river and canoe super highway, you know, it just hasn't been fully tapped.
But we got there from King County and we're just there.
Everybody just shows up.
We're all there.
And then we're all over here.
It's amazing to me.
It's just amazing.
I mean, I'm okay.
It's fun.
You know, I'm enjoying it.
And it was, the episode was okay.
You know, I enjoyed it somewhat.
But the time travel thing, man.
Holy cow.
Yeah, just the, I don't know, the ridiculousness of killing Grace off or the slow killing her off since she was introduced.
They've been trying to kill her since she was introduced.
I know, because I don't disagree with you because she was introduced.
because she was introduced with the radiation from the rad plant,
because she worked at a reactor,
that then,
okay,
she's okay.
Then the nukes happen.
Okay,
they try to commit suicide,
doesn't work because of the baby.
Yeah,
I don't know.
If you're that actress,
you just got to be,
every time you sit down with a script,
you're like,
how are they trying to kill me today?
Oh,
it worked.
Oh,
it worked this time.
Right.
And then on top of that, on top of all of that, we end up she was dealing with the canter that was going to kill her, right?
So yeah.
Holy God.
And so then Morgan is dealing with the Shrek to try to say Grace.
Shrek.
What's her name?
Shrike.
Shrike.
Yeah, Shrike.
Shrike.
Same thing.
And, you know, the head of the Padre thing.
I really, you know, I was really looking forward and I hope that we get it next week.
It looks like we might get some of it.
I was hoping for the big, you know, the Walker Kill show at the shipyards.
You know, I want that to happen.
That'd be awesome.
That would almost be better than if you go back to Walking Dead days of the prison.
Right?
The prison was awesome.
Those are great episodes.
We might get that next episode, but because the kids are going to do it.
Yeah, we're going to send the little gladiators, the mini gladiators in.
I don't know how that happens without the help of.
of Daniel and Morgan.
Because Shrek said no guns, right?
She doesn't want to shoot up any of the containers.
But you can still have some kind of handguns
to kill some walkers close up if you have to.
Have to.
Are there no adults now at Padre?
Is it just the kid?
Do they kill off all the adults?
No, there's still, no.
I don't know.
Wait, no.
Because we had adults shooting them on the boat.
No, all.
Oh, yeah.
No, adults, there's not a lot of adults
around because
the adult, from what I understand,
there's only a few adults that are
the gatherers
and then all the rest of them are on
the island.
And they're just like under like, okay, we're teaching them.
I've already used the word ridiculous, I think, twice.
And I think I'm going to use it a bunch more during this episode.
But the ridiculousness of having just the children
of the corn take care of this.
Like, why?
Is it like this ride of passage?
but it's surrounding this like gargantuan thing that's important for this community.
We're just going to unleash the kids.
That didn't make too much sense to me.
I don't know.
It's this entire season, man.
It's just ridiculous.
So we're coming up.
I know.
I know.
So we're what five episodes in.
We have one more episode to go for the first half of the last season.
So I was hoping, and we talked last week,
I was hoping that we, you know, we can wrap up this whole shipyard thing and we move forward, right?
Because we've still got characters we haven't seen in fear, right?
I mean, we haven't seen Strand.
I don't even know if he exists anymore.
I don't even know if he exists anymore.
You know, I don't know if we're paying him or it's the last season and we're like, no, you know, we're not paying you this season.
Have a nice day.
Good luck, God bless.
Who else have we seen?
We haven't seen Luciana or Charlie.
they might be dead, I don't know.
What's her face? Madison's good, one of the originals.
Well, Alicia's dead. I'm just saying that.
She might be a Walker Hayes.
It might be she survived. I don't know.
But I'm guessing if she's dead.
But until further notice.
And the other two we haven't seen is your two favorite characters, Dad, Wendell and Sarah, the trucker twins.
hopefully we'll find a rusted wheelchair somewhere and go oh darn no we lost them oh we lost them
darn the look although they might show up you never know strands totally you know what he's doing
he's there he's just watching through binoculars waiting to see who wins and when whichever side
wins then he's going to show up with this great idea you know i mean that's the perfect strand
honestly yeah that would that would make sense that absolutely makes a lot of sense
And, I mean, that's the way they write him into the show.
Yeah.
So he absolutely could still there.
We didn't get to.
Oh, no Madison this episode.
I know.
You were happy about this.
Thankfully, we didn't get any Madison this episode.
So she's off trying to find her oxygen somewhere and surviving, which, you know, it's amazing that we still have, she still has plenty of oxygen to survive.
The walkie-talkies, man, the whole show was just nothing but talking on walkie-talkies.
It's amazing.
The whole show was just talking on walkie-talkies.
We're rowing the canoe down the river talking on Waukey Tockeys.
We're talking on Waukey Tockeys at the repeater station.
We're saving people's lives on Waukees.
I can't freaking take it.
You are so obsessed with Wachie Tockeys.
I'm going to get you a pack of Wachie Tockeys.
And see how long they last.
They won't last that long.
I'll tell you that.
I tell you what, though, while I was watching this,
some of the characters involved, Dwight,
all the crap he's been through.
all the bad guys he's been involved in fighting.
Morgan,
ditto,
everything I just said.
I mean,
even people like Daniel,
maybe even Daniel even more so,
because of his past history,
and they're now stuck
dealing with teenagers,
and they don't know what to do.
Can I cuss on this episode, Jeff?
They don't want to kill kids.
That's the point.
They don't want to kill kids.
I mean,
There comes a point when they're killing you
and I think that it's okay.
Yeah, at some point.
Well, here's the thing.
Daniel is running an army of parents
trying to get their kids back.
So wouldn't that be counterintuitive?
Not for the ones that are trying to kill them.
No, that's the point.
I might give a pass to the ones that are back
in Padre still, you know,
the fledgling young ninjas.
Might give them a pass.
They might get an amnesty.
But the ones that are like holding axes
to my throat or shooting me,
Um, yeah, I'm unloading a Gatlin gun on all of them.
The issue is, like, Shrike would have been dead a long time ago.
But the issue is, strike is just walking out in the open and, you know, like somehow still alive.
Oh, so you'd shoot, so you'd shoot your own kid if you were missing and then you recognize.
But the thing is, Shrek isn't even, we know that her.
Oh, her dad's dead.
Yeah.
So I don't, I'm not giving her a pass. I'm not giving her a pass. I'm not giving her a pass.
But.
And we had an opportunity to kill her last night, and we did.
Instead, he runs past her on the railroad tracks.
What are you kidding me?
What's happening?
Yeah.
And this super militant special forces children to the corn group that's running around,
you know, that Mo seems to know all of them and whatever, they can die.
They can die.
I don't care who their parents are.
They can die.
Right.
Right.
I mean, this is sad for everyone in.
involved at this point. You know, when Dwight for crying out loud, Morgan, they don't know what to do.
I'm sorry, you just, just ask Daniel. Hey, Daniel, what do we do? We shoot them all in the head.
He doesn't want to. We walk into Padre. Fine. But no, the thing is, dude, you, you know, we got it.
Daniel doesn't want to. Let's not give excuses. This is ridiculous. Five, six. We got. We want to save the kids. I got it.
But at some point, really, at some point, I keep saying at some point, we haven't reached that point.
So I apologize.
We're not there.
But at some point, because it's not going to happen, you guys.
Season 2, 3, 4, Rick, doesn't care.
He, like, walks in, he punches Shrike in the face, knocks her out, gives a menacing look to, you know, special forces, baby ninjas.
And they cower and fear, like, oh, crap, this got me, it's business.
And it's done.
It's done.
but now we got to wonder around like Morgan
I'd love to see them in like a little meeting it's like Dwight
and you know Morgan and Daniel like what do like you know all these children
of the corn ninjas and they're like well no
we'll cook them some dinner
they've already been uh they've already
they're already part of the cult right I mean they are indoctrinated 100
so unless if you don't kill them you definitely have to round them up
and re-cult them or decult them right now to your group.
You have to do that.
And they're not even doing that.
I mean, we got a Dwight and Daniel Brohug last night, which I like.
I mean, Dwight, Peter Station.
I mean, Dwight's son is, I mean, with them, if only for a short amount of time.
But.
Yeah, we're keeping him alive.
Not for long, not for long, probably.
Maybe. I thought, you know, I thought for sure Grace was going to live.
I did, too.
Yeah. I thought, I thought Mo was just going to turn on the radiation at a billion level, and that was going to save her.
See, because it was, it was so built up.
See, that's, and then that was also, like, oh, crap.
That was likewise, ridiculous, six, seven.
I know.
Like, why I do an entire episode of saving her life, and that's all, there's this hope, and then, and she's dead.
Okay.
Well, the reason we did that is that way she was able to turn, right?
And Morgan finally, you know, during using foot time travel,
was able to race 8,000 miles and get there to save her.
So, you know, we had her turn because she couldn't kill her mom,
which, you know, I kind of understand, but she's supposed to be some badass ninja.
You got to realize mom's going to turn, right?
You got to do it.
Well, she also had a hard time killing walkers in the beginning, too, remember?
Yeah, I know, but...
Look, I get it. It is somewhat stupid. I agree with you, Jason. I do agree with you.
I'm just trying to explain the facts of what we are presented with.
I did enjoy the little grace talk with Mo that, you know, what's a telephone?
That did no, no, no, no. The thing is, Jason, the thing is, he might be making fun of that right now.
That actually got him to laugh.
That was a Jeffie joke 100%. That got him to laugh.
actually. I will concede that
what sucks is, like, the actors
are really good. So like,
the walkie-talkie conversation
between Morgan and Grace
with Moe in the background right as she was
about to die. That was really good.
That was such a captivating scene.
It was. And so I feel for
these actors that they're thrown into the situation.
They've got to be like, help me.
When does my contract over?
Just get me out of here.
Well, they could do that, but
like, like,
like Morgan
said he doesn't die. I'm actually
happy he said that again. It's been a while.
That was good. Yeah.
Like I don't die. Everybody else does,
but I don't. It's true.
That's it is.
That's absolutely true.
So that's what, like, I just love
one, I love Morgan. He's always been fun. It looks like we're getting
super clear Morgan next week.
Well, that's what I mean. So now, hopefully
we'll get the shipyard clearing,
which, you know, I'm hoping that we have a decent
episode of killing walkers
and clearing the shipyard. That should be fine.
I want that to happen.
And I don't know that it's going to happen.
I don't know that we're just going to, you know, we'll show and we'll lose a couple of gladiators,
young gladiators that we didn't know anyway.
And the big ones will survive.
And we'll, you know, there's the pile of walkers that we're burning from the shipyard.
And we won't see any battle, which I hope that's not true.
I hope it's not true.
I want the battle with the shipyard.
I want to see it.
I just want dead city.
Oh, yeah, that's the exciting news, which actually happens, starts next week, right?
It airs, you know, right after the sixth episode of Fear of the Walking Dead or beginning on Thursday if you have AMC Plus.
And I'm looking forward to actually watching Dead City.
I went to look to see if I could catch some other shots from Dead City yesterday because I was thinking, oh, crap, I got to see if they've released any more footage.
and the AMC Plus has this whole thing on Dead City
where Chris Hardwick
shows up at WonderCon.
Because he always hosts the Comic-Con panels.
And he's up at WonderCon and they're talking about fear.
And first we're going to start with Dead City.
And Lauren Cohn is going to be here.
And what's his face?
Deegan isn't going to be here because he's busy filming the boys.
And so he can't be here.
but we're going to show you this clip of Dead City.
Here we go.
And he throws it to the screen, and AMC Plus throws up on the screen due to regulations from the producers.
We can't show this clip.
What?
If you were there, you saw it.
If you weren't, no.
I'm so pissed.
Are you kidding me?
I was really mad.
It looks good, though, man.
It almost looks like they're taking a little bit from what the last of us did.
Oh, yeah.
Yes, I hope so. Yes.
Some like crazy walker monstrosities that we've never seen before.
And it just, it looks good.
I hope it didn't let me down.
It looks good.
I know.
We're going to be in the city.
So we're going to be able to, there's so much you can do with that storyline in, in the city.
It's going to be, I hope they, you're right.
I don't want them.
In the big apple.
Yeah.
That's where they're spending their money, right?
Maybe they're putting, that's why they're ending fear.
And they threw them a couple of bucks.
and they bought them a couple extra walkie-talkies, but that's it.
Right?
And so they spent their money on Dead City and Darrell's show and Rick and Michone's show.
So, okay.
Well, let's see, before we leave, let's see what Morgan's travel is all the time.
So he went from Georgia originally.
I went to King County.
Then went to that random town where he was all clear mode, which I don't know where that was.
Then he went to the like tri-eatine.
state area, D.C. area, and was there for a long time, and then all the way down to Texas,
then to Louisiana, and now back to Georgia and between that and Louisiana.
Yeah. And these episodes, the last few episodes, he's been between the swamp and Georgia
in an hour, or less, or less. I mean, that's good time. That's good time. I want that travel.
So, where's he going next?
You know what? This won't surprise me.
He's probably not going to be in Dead City.
It would not surprise me if he's in the Rick and Michone show.
That's very possible.
That's possible, although he may be done with it.
By the time he gets done with fear, although the paycheck's tough to turn down.
This travel, though, it really explains how Daryl showed up in France.
He just slammed there for 30 minutes.
They said originally they were talking about how there was no explanation how he showed up in France.
Like he's just trying to figure out how he showed up there.
as if it's hard.
I mean, he fell asleep on a canoe and he ended up in France.
He ended up in Fred.
How many times if someone fall asleep on a canoe and ended up on the other side of the ocean?
Happens all the time.
Isn't France lab locked?
All the time.
Also, I'm concerned.
So I really kind of want Finch to die soon.
I'm waiting for Dwight and Sherry's kid to die.
because that way they can break up
and Dwight could go back to be in a badass
and start killing people.
You think they'll break up.
And we can have Morgan and...
Oh, it is not landlocked.
I know that.
I said that.
I know geography.
It's okay.
I got it.
I got it.
It was a joke.
I got it.
There was a little thing called D-Day
when the Allied troops landed on the coast.
Yeah, okay.
Look, I was being up for a second.
I was being...
I was being...
Yeah, that's why I let it go.
Then you brought it back.
He wanted me to beat you up some more on it.
I let it pass.
Sorry, world.
Oh,
okay.
So I am looking forward to Dead City, though, absolutely.
That should be, hopefully it will be good.
Expectations are a lot higher than was Fear, the Walking Dead expectations.
And fear has.
Always has made expectations.
They've surpassed my expectations this season so far,
but it hasn't been great either.
It's really been.
It always leaves me wanting more.
Surpassed your expectation.
He was expecting.
No, no, yes.
It has surpassed my expectation.
That's how you get through fear.
You just set the bar so damn low.
Yeah, that's what he did.
And it's impossible to be disappointed.
He was so.
Jason, you weren't here for the lead-up to fear the Walking Dead.
The lead-up to Fear the Walking Dead was him groaning and saying,
this is going to be awful, they're going to end it awful.
I'm going to hate my...
I quote Jeffrey Fisher,
I am going to hate my life every time I watch this show.
So, yes, it has surpassed his expectations because he thought he would want to kill himself
every time he would watch this season.
That has not happened.
So there you go.
Like I said, it has surpassed my expectations.
Thank you.
So final thoughts.
Let's wrap this up.
We're looking forward to Dead City.
Fear, we have the next episode next week called All I See is Red.
Morgan fights his past as he and Madison race to stop Padre's expansion.
So speaking of that, Padres expansion.
So what is the deal?
They can't even, they want to expand past their own little island.
They can barely hang on to that.
I mean, I don't know why we have this visions of grandeur from Shrek and the other bird people
when they don't even have themselves locked down yet.
And anyway, it's just, I mean, I find it strange that why not use the expertise of Morgan, of Daniel, of DeWite, of Madison, although God, I don't know why.
And build that.
That's what they all want is the future.
what they're all building for.
I don't know why.
It makes no sense
that they're fighting to me.
They're kids.
I mean,
how deeply have they really
gone into this?
I don't know.
I don't know either.
I don't know.
But I do like the title.
All I see is read
because it's possible I may.
It's possible I may.
And I agree with you.
I do think Finch will die
next episode if they don't have
the radiation equipment
to keep them at least stable.
But...
I mean, it's not enough, right?
I mean, with June, of course,
pretending to be this, you know,
scientist doctor who's just a nurse.
I said that every nurse listening to this show now is so pissed when I called you just a nurse.
But we know more than the doctors.
I know.
I got it.
But, you know, so she's busy trying to, you know, figure it out.
That's why I did.
I was really surprised she didn't say juice grace.
Just juice it.
man. Mo should have just cranked it, man. Turned it on. That train car should have been bright red.
But it wasn't and we lost her. Oh well. Sorry.
How long has been with us for a while now actually? Like season six.
Yeah, we could get rid of her. I kept trying to kill her like we said earlier.
Would die. All right. So final thoughts. Jason, anything? We good?
Yeah, I don't really have too much else to say on it
I mean, I just, I don't know
I just, we're getting closer and closer to the end of this thing
and I guess what midseason finale is next week.
Yes.
So I don't, I'm not, I don't expect to be too impressed next week
on this show, but I just hope that they get a good closure
for some of the characters that we do love.
I hope they don't drop that of them at least.
No kidding.
We'll see.
Yeah, we'll definitely see.
And we may just have to wait at,
until we have some other weird time jump in the last half just to give that closure.
Then it'll just be like, okay.
That's really the only reason I'm still watching is because I love Morgan.
I like Dwight.
You know, I like, I love some of these characters.
I just want to see them get some justice because we're not going to see them again, supposedly.
So I just hope they navigate.
It's a clunky story.
It's not a great story.
Let's, but the idea of the entire thing is a good story.
Not, not this season, but just.
Yeah, the overall, yeah, the umbrella story, yeah.
So do them justice, get them to a good spot so we can say goodbye to them.
That's what I hope for.
I definitely agree with you.
I hope we get closure on a lot of these characters that we like.
Me personally, I do love Strand.
He's been one of my favorites throughout this whole show.
So I do hope we get at least good closure with him at the end.
Now, here's the thing.
This is the mid-season finale, so they're probably going to leave us on a freaking cliffhanger like they always do.
The cliffhamer will be strand in a tree with binoculars.
You know what?
I'll be okay with that.
I'll be okay with that.
It'll be awesome.
Constantly flipping a coin.
This side, that side.
I'll be okay with that.
It'll be awesome.
But yeah, I genuinely hope that they at least end it good because we all can agree that
while fear has some low lows, whatever it gets good, it has very good moments.
It's just surrounded by not good moments.
That pretty much wraps up the show.
Yeah.
It's surrounded by not good moments.
Thank you for listening to Talking Walking Dead.
Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, and myself, Jeffrey Fisher.
Appreciate you listening to Talking Walking Dead.
We'll see you next week.
