All right, season eight, episode six of Fear the Walking Dead, titled All I See is Red.
Then we have season one, episode one of Dead City to talk about.
We have a lot to get to today.
Welcome to Talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it.
Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Butchell, and Maximus Fisher.
Thank you for coming along for the ride on Talking Walking Dead.
A lot to get to today.
We had the mid-season finale of Fear of the Walking Dead and it was entitled, All I See is Red.
And it was, I was okay.
It was okay.
One of the best episodes this season.
Really?
I would say that.
Not the best ever, but.
Well, I think I catch both of your drifts on that because I felt how both of you.
I guess I was a combination of the two of you, which sounds like.
terrifying visually.
But yeah, it was like,
I like the content. I guess that's
one of my biggest gripes about fears, because I like
the content. Like I like, you know,
like some of the best Walker battles
in the entire, you know,
series, really, was last night's episode.
No doubt about that. Fighting in the, you know,
at the boat house, all that stuff.
But I'm just tired of
the context. I was tired of the
all I see is read, you know,
You know, they did a play the little noise and the little filter on the screen.
They'll all, you know.
Flashbacks with the shots.
I was like, okay, I'm just, I'm done with that.
I don't care.
Every time we turn, every time it's like we're in the middle of, he's going to die,
and then we wake up and he's been saved.
We didn't ever see the save.
He's just been saved.
I just got tired of it.
Me too.
Made Madison to the rescue.
How many, let's see, how many times is Morgan gone clear mode?
Like, whatsoever in the entire show?
Well, I mean, a lot.
And that's fine.
I don't mind the Morgan Clear mode.
I mean, that's when we get our great walker fights and deaths and it's really good, right?
And he believes that he can't die and he just continues on his battle, which I love.
But the whole thing of almost dying and then flashbacking, all I see is red.
And the next thing, you know, he's waking up in a mud pit, you know, the quick sand and getting out and not knowing how he gets there.
Madison saved him.
And it's just, you're right.
I was just tired.
He kept saying, I thought I was past this.
And we were like, oh, God, so did we.
Just get past it.
Please, just get past it.
Got some Daniel this episode, which was fun.
You know, we didn't get to see the clearing, which we talked about last week.
I was very disappointed in, although we did have some great Walker battles.
We didn't get to see the shipyard clear, which was very disappointing.
I really wanted to see that.
I really wanted to see that.
And we never found out, you know, really, I guess nothing was in the shipyard
because we had to get the coordinates that we had left in the binoculars of Dad.
And we were fortunate enough to find him.
What a surprise.
I know.
I said the same thing.
He just comes walking out at the perfect time, you know.
It's like, oh, there you are.
Hi, Dad.
There you are.
Morgan is tied to a board in a houseboat.
And there's the guy we're looking for.
Amazing.
What are you?
And the battle between Morgan and the kid,
Mo, the daughter, all right, all right.
I don't know.
I guess the episode was kind of fun,
and we got, you know, and thankfully we're finally rid of Shrek,
you know, thankfully, finally rid of error.
So we're rid of, so the Padre villains are gone.
Well, the brothers there, right?
He's not doing anything without his sister.
The brother didn't die, though.
He's still, like, he put her down, right?
And he's still alive.
I don't know what good he will be, but he's still alive.
Was he there at the last scene?
No, he wasn't.
He didn't.
He wasn't there in the last scene.
They left it after it went to black after they met in a train car.
Right.
So we have no idea about him.
Who cares?
Right.
I know.
I know.
And then, you know, then we get to, I mean, I really, I want to talk about Dead City.
so we'll just get the fear.
We'll get the fear.
We'll get the fear out of the way.
How about when Dwight and Sherry officially broke up after.
Of course.
After Finch died.
I mean, the world, the world knew.
We've talked about it on this show many times.
Of course.
Of course it had to be over.
I mean, did you even need to watch it?
You didn't even need to be present when it showed them on screen.
I knew exactly what was coming.
I was like, well, here's the thing.
They finally admitted after we had been saying this all this time, like, Negan and Shrike, maybe it's not just these A-holes that we're dealing with.
Maybe it is a bit of us.
And we were all like, maybe.
Maybe it is.
Maybe it is.
Do I?
What do you think?
It's so agonizing.
Oh, my gosh.
And I get, I get it that, you know, whenever, whenever a family loses a child, it's very difficult.
to continue on for the couple.
I understand how horrific that is,
but it shouldn't have happened in the first place,
should it have Dwight and Sherry.
Ugh, it was just enough.
Which, you know what?
The thing is, them reuniting that scene
after they had dealt with the building with the rats
was such a good scene.
Yeah, yeah, it was.
I mean, we all, happy he finally found her, right?
And it was, they were there, they were together.
And it's just.
It's, it's what it is.
It's like it's the show creators doing like the dangling the carrot with the stick thing.
It's like and it's so lazy and the audience hates that.
Like why they're constantly holding this out there.
And now they actually believe the audience cares whether they get together or not.
We are so tired of it.
It's like it's the same thing with the Morgan.
Like we don't care like when am I going to move past us?
We don't care that you move past it at this point.
No.
You've dangled it out so many times.
We do not care.
Right.
And the reason that you keep doing it is to save everyone's lives, which you finally realize that.
Now, hopefully, you know, I guess he's past it now, right?
I guess we've buried, what's your face, Grace Muckherjee.
That's what I said on the tombstone, on the cross.
But it was cool because I saw the grave.
I was like, is that we got, we saw Eastman's grave.
Yeah, we got your boy back.
I was thinking about you and your boy with the trainer.
Jason, you are in the...
No, Jason, I'm sorry, but you are
in the heavy minority of Walking Dead fans that don't like that episode.
Yeah, well, as per your own words,
the majority like Madison and they like World Beyond.
So, fuck them.
No, the majority like Madison.
No, as for my words, they don't like World Beyond.
They like Madison.
There's a difference.
Should I clap at that point so they know when to bleep?
That's awesome.
I mean, it really, it really is.
And I find it amazing that I kept thinking to myself, boy, Madison, then the oxygen just never runs out.
But she's got them stashed all over, right?
She's tank stashed all over, just like the walkie-talkies that never go dead.
They're just always stashed and always charged, right?
Because that's what saved the kid in the houseboat is, oh, we've got another oxygen tank stashed.
Here, take this and swim away.
Okay. All right, fine. No problem. You do that.
It's convenient. Yeah.
Yeah. It's smart to do something like that, though.
It is, though. Always be prepared.
You never know when you're going to need an oxygen tank.
Meanwhile, Mo, go back over there and practice your forms.
Right.
I was happy with that one.
I was happy with that.
Jason, we like Eastman. We like Eastman. We like Eastman.
Okay.
I was too. I did like the give her the staff and go back over.
and let me say goodbye and you go you'll practice your forms and remember you're always striking or
there's there's only two types of two types of swings blocking what's the other one
blocking and striking and it was hilarious too because you missed it dad but when he was doing when she
started doing some forms he actually had this like little smile on his face and actually looked at
eastman's grave and did like the motion of do you see this
So now we've ended.
Morgan is no longer.
I was right.
Max was right.
And that's what we're,
you know,
Morgan is going to trek off to try to find Rick.
We saw in the opening of the show,
the show open had brought up silhouettes of all the people in Morgan's life that are now dead.
Right?
We thought,
we thought the one guy was Rick,
but he doesn't think Rick is dead.
So it wasn't part of the silhouettes.
Who was the people? Who were the silhouettes?
In order, I think it was Jenny, Dwayne, Eastman, Nick, John Jr., John Isaac,
no, Isaac, Rachel, John, Sr., Alicia, and Grace.
Okay, but we think, now in the end of the show, right?
So we got, we're rid of Shrek, and he's off.
Madison's the main character again.
He's off with the daughter, right?
So next, the last six episodes that we get are Madison back.
We're going to do full source.
circle of her being in charge like she was at the very beginning.
And, you know, she wants to find all the kids and build a future world with the parents and
the kids and everything. But at the end, we see Alice, or Alicia's arm, right? So was that bad guy,
was that Alicia? With a grown arm again? Do you think she just grew back her arm?
I don't know.
I don't know that she's a salamander, grows it back.
I'm not sure.
You know, who is the bad guy?
A lot of people are thinking it's Troy from season three.
Which one is Troy?
This guy.
I don't.
He's from the dam.
Oh, Troy from the damn.
The guy, the guy.
I don't even remembers him.
The guy who Madison hit with the sledgehammer.
Okay.
Is that the biker?
Now, the biker's the drug guy, right?
In Texas, or in the desert.
And he had surgery, right?
The biker had the back surgery.
I'll put it up to the camera for Jason to see even...
Ah, crap.
Don't worry about the keyboard.
It's fine.
Don't remember him.
So I think the moral of the story is if that's who the bad guy is,
they screwed up because no one's going to care or hardly remember.
Now, it could be wrong.
That's just a theory, but a lot of people are thinking that.
Okay. You know who I think the bad guy is?
Uh-oh.
Travis.
I think Travis is the bad guy.
That's just a thought.
That's all I'm saying.
There's going to be another two-way mirror in that, like, conference in that little interrogation.
He's going to be behind that one.
I loved how the, with Morgan and his ending on fear actually ended with him talking on the radio going,
I'm going to leave you this message.
every day at dawn and keep the walkie on for a few minutes.
And I was like full circle from the beginning of dead.
Yeah.
I thought it was,
it's interesting too that now they have no problem mentioning Rick now that they're
actually shooting.
Right.
You know, the show is going to happen.
We were begging for it on the regular show.
Right.
Got nothing.
Got nothing.
And we get it in fear.
Okay.
All right.
But I was right.
Morgan's going to the Rick and Moshone show.
That's possible.
And I think my.
theory is, Dwight
is going to show up on Daryl.
Oh. Why? That's possible.
Yeah, I mean, because he's
leaving, what's her face?
Well, he said he's going to go back home, so
he's going back to Alexandria, maybe, but
I think, just part of me thinks, like,
Dwight and Daryl had such a good, like,
chemistry of, like, I hate you, but I understand
you, because they were, because
Dwight was based off.
Darrell originally because
Dwight showed up in the comics
first and Darryl's not a comic character
but they had such a good dynamic of I understand
you but I hate you remember?
Well if he said he's going to go back home
we might get him in Dead City
right because we
we have Negan and Maggie
let's we can all right so fear
wrapped up for midseason finale
Maggie is gathering the
children and they're going to go off with Daniel's
crew Madison not Madison
and find the parents that are still alive and the kids that are still alive and hook up and build the great society that Padre wanted to be in the beginning.
Yay.
And so Morgan's going to go off with Mo to try to find Rick and that crowd.
And Dwight told Sherry that he's going to go back home.
Okay, so we get to Dead City, right?
And which I thought, you know, it was, well, that was very enjoyable.
had a lot of fun watching Dead City and old acquaintances, and it was good to see Neegan kind of being old Negan again, but not really.
You know, just kind of wading through things.
Maggie, you know, she really realizes that she's more like Negan than she wants to even admit to herself, which I love.
But if the bad guy in Dead City right now is an old Neganite,
then if Dwight comes home,
we might get Dwight back with helping Negan,
even though he doesn't want to.
Yeah.
I,
just from the opening,
well,
sequence,
I really enjoyed it,
because it was like,
kind of like glimpses of this world
that you knew existed,
but they wouldn't show.
Just like the random,
like organized crime groups set up in an old
Route 66 motel.
I thought it was just kind of cool.
That was awesome.
My only complaint or gripe on it was this new group.
I was like, oh, God, another new group, you know, this new Babylon or whatever.
Oh, and the Marshalls.
Yeah, that's separate.
That's the Marshalls, right?
That's separate.
Yeah.
The Manhattan bad guy.
What's the guy's name?
Croat.
Croat, yeah.
Which I also like that he's a former savior.
That's kind of cool.
Yes. Yes.
I loved how, like, as soon as she did the whistle, he's like, oh, you're talking about that, Croat.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But like I didn't, I don't, I'm still not really sure why they needed to throw in these marshals in the New Babylon.
I mean, I guess maybe that will reveal itself.
I hope it does to be a bit more impactful.
But right now I just don't really care.
I want to see Negan, Maggie, and the Croat in New York City.
I don't.
Yeah.
It's just an added annoyance, I guess, to me.
It is.
And the marshals are there with the new law and they're hunting down, you know,
Negan and other criminals.
I kind of like the girl.
what's I forgive me I don't know her real name and I should have looked it up but the girl that ended up being killed from the marshal
I love her as an actress and I was sorry to see her go you know she's been in a lot of really cool parts and I thought she was gonna
you know hang around for a little while and then you know she's not there an entire episode is just killed already
it was really weird that was crazy she's I at first I thought that she was a returning character from one of the other shows on in walking dead
I was she, who was she?
But no, I just got finished watching Picard.
Yeah, yeah.
She's a lot of great stuff.
Yeah.
She's a big role in Picard.
But yeah, she's a big actor.
Yeah.
And I was really happy that she was going to be part of it.
No, not so much.
Well, she was part of it for 10 minutes.
Yeah, for 10 minutes.
But I know I would have liked to see her hang around.
It was great seeing Negan again, Maggie.
I love the scene where she's explaining what Croat did to her,
where they surrounded her in the dark, lights on,
and before she sees anything, she just hears,
whew!
That was awesome, the flashbacks of Negan.
They actually showed her killing red.
I know.
Her dream shows the Negan kills of our people.
Have they ever showed it that graphic?
I don't think so.
That second when he hits him again and you see like the blood's going shooting up.
I don't ever remember seeing that.
And he, you know, the bend down face to face with the bat and is behind him and stuff.
Some of those scenes, I don't know that we've seen those.
They were there.
They were, I think they were there.
Okay.
I mean, it's very possible we have.
I mean, I could have blocked something that horrific out.
But I just, it was fun, it was fun to see it.
Anyway, I mean, it was fun to see her.
It was her nightmare.
I know it was terrible, but it was still fun to see.
And then right after she wakes up, Negan speaks to her.
That was just funny.
That was funny to me.
I love the Maggie boots with her little blade.
She gets the knife out.
Yeah.
The Joker boots.
Yeah.
The Joker boots.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
That's awesome.
So we're after her kid and, uh, what's his name of a crow.
I'm just going to call him.
Croat.
Herschel.
No,
Crow at the guy.
Oh, Croat.
No, I know the kid's name is Herschel.
He's trying to be badass, but we'll see.
Yeah, we'll see.
We'll see how that works out.
But it was, and,
Some of the scenes in the city were awesome.
The falling walkers from the building.
The falling walkers were great.
Moving herds through the city that we would expect.
You know, her, well, the opening scene when she sees the walkers, you know, walking along the, well, I get, for lack of a, it's the boardwalk there where the, we're in Manhattan.
It's, that was, that was great.
I mean, those moving herds are just got to be moving around the city.
it's when they first got there
I was like that the guy
the junior marshal was like where are all the
what do you call him he didn't call him walk
chompers choppers
for all the chompers like what's going on
why are there's nobody here
yeah they're already heard it up wandering the city
my man
we had chomper's they heard
Maggie call them groaners
to like the other group
oh yeah oh yeah
that one is that one new
I think I think it is I don't think we ever
had growners before
they're digging
deep to come up with new names.
No doubt.
But all the city scenes were exactly
what I was hoping to see. And it was what we were
hoping to see. We've said this before in fear.
That's really what we wanted
to see. And they barely
scratch the surface. If they can keep this
up for a full season, we're going to, we're in
personal this. Now, hopefully we get
hopefully,
you know, so now we're going to be
racing to find Maggie's kid,
Pershiel. And I mean, that's the point
of going into the city. So we're fighting against
Crow's people. And then
they're on the run from the Marshall. Does the
Marshal even ever team up with them? Maybe.
Maybe. Maybe. Yeah, I don't see. I'm just like, I'm not
interested in him at all.
We have no idea why, what his deal is.
I've seen him before. He's a good actor. I have seen that actor.
Yeah, but we have no idea, you know, what's his point, right?
We don't, like, we have no vested interest in New Babylon.
New Babylon and the marshals.
and whatever new law that they have.
I mean, he called it, he called it something.
His name was Pearly Armstrong Marshall,
but they, oh, Tranquility Order and the Federation.
All right.
So, okay, well, we've been so.
Yeah.
You don't know, so.
And it was dangerously close to the group in fear,
like the one that we just, you know, the cowboy group.
Yes.
Yeah.
I was like, oh, Virginia's group.
yeah I was like yeah sure was
yes I don't know
I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt
I'm gonna say hey this is gonna be very pivotal
and it's gonna work out because I loved everything
else I'm just yeah I'm not gonna
I love by the way I just don't understand it
the opening song with the
the opening sequence like the intro
I loved yeah it was very good
yes it was very good I enjoyed that
as well and I rewatched it something actually
interesting that's kind of cool
um the
you actually could see like once when they show
the Statue of Liberty, you could actually see the World Trade Center, like, halfway
built because the pandemic of the zombie virus started around like 2009 or 10-ish in that universe,
which is when it was halfway built. So, like, it's just kind of halfway tall. Nice. Yeah,
on the Statue of Liberty during that sequence, it showed like curtains up on the crown of the
statue of liberty. So it got me thinking that we're actually going to go into it. There's going to be
people living up in there. I still hope they do something like that. And he teased it how he never
saw the Statue of Liberty. So I was like, I thought that was the first place they were going.
Yes, they might happen. They might have to to run once to try to get off the island, right?
Have to. It would be fun because you're right. His dream has to go. They have to go there.
The dry cleaner Walker was, the finals killed the kills and the dry cleaners. He should have picked up a new suit on the way out. I don't know why we do that. What are we doing there?
Oh, then there was the old crazy lady that we saw twice.
Yeah, I'm not quite sure what we're making of that,
although she's probably just, she may help them in the end, right?
She's against the bad guys.
So she's going to end up maybe helping them.
And I did like a couple things in New York.
At the end, the wire kill was awesome.
The wire kill was good.
The wire, when the guy was trying to escape him,
and he just cuts the wire and drops him up, was awesome.
That was fun.
but the bags of roaches
when they were hiding from the herd
was awesome
that was really fun
like they just see you have a couple on them
that would get off get they couldn't stop
them climbing on them and then opening a whole
they move a bag and then
Nagan's response nope
what would you do in that too?
I don't know that I would have said no
but I would have moved I'll tell you that
moved quickly.
I did not want any of that happening.
I've had similar situations happen in a swarm of cockroaches at one point living in Florida,
and it is not fun.
It's really creepy.
Really creepy.
Get that.
I know.
I know.
And someday, if you listen to chewing the fat, I may tell that story.
I don't know that I've ever told that story out of the air.
The swarm of roaches.
Oof.
It was not fun.
that those weren't it's Florida so it's not just any regular roaches they're palmetto bugs I know
it was nasty oh cow holy cow is that my ex-wife's house anyway she wasn't one of them
no I'll just throw it I'll give you a tease she wasn't one of them okay she was her own special
nah it reminds you was fine just a joke a bad joke so I loved I thought Dead City was great man
first episode I'm looking forward to it we're good fear we've got we've got the break and
I don't know that I'm actually looking forward to the final six but we'll be
be there for it, but we'll definitely be here
for Dead City. I'm
looking forward to that a lot.
Oh yeah, and something I just realized, no
Strand. Yeah, no strand in the first, yeah, so
nothing at all, not even binoculars
away. The only binoculars we got were
the dads that had the special
coordinates in it. But they showed
Strand in the preview
for the next half of the series, though.
Oh, they did?
Yep. I don't know that I saw that.
Yeah. Yeah, that
I was surprised you guys didn't mention that.
He's one of the big players in the last half.
MC Plus doesn't really show like.
I haven't,
yeah,
I didn't see the pro.
AMC Plus doesn't really show like next time on.
Yeah,
he's back.
So he's still around.
All right.
So we know that he probably was up in the trees watching him with the
now that they're all,
now that they've got it all settled.
He thinks he could swoop in and take over.
He's like,
now I know who I needed to manipulate.
Right.
But it wasn't his
It wasn't his hand with
No, that wasn't his arm.
No, that wasn't.
That wasn't strands.
Yeah, it looked like a chick.
That's what I...
I've seen a lot of people say it's Troy.
I could be wrong.
They could be wrong.
I mean, it could be Metro Negan.
Oh no.
That's who it is.
Metro Negan.
He's back in his silk shirt.
He rolls in with the old RV.
I'm back.
Something to look forward to.
Can't wait.
You know what?
Jason, dad, you know what we should do?
We should watch the whole stadium arc again.
From the beginning of season four to Madison dying, just to remember Metro Needs.
You know, Max, that's a good idea for you.
You could do the show.
If you really care about this show, you could do that.
No, we want us.
You need to join us.
And inform us exactly what happened.
Maybe we miss something.
Maybe we miss something.
We need you to tell us what we've made.
Jeff, he's going to be working late at the studio.
Yeah, I can't. Look at the time.
Crazy.
Man, we are out of time today, too.
I'd love to talk some more about Metro Deegan.
All right.
So any final thoughts, Mr. Butchell?
Yeah, it was,
Dead City was refreshing.
You know, it's like something new, something exciting,
and it was done in a cool way.
Fear, not so much.
I'm ready for it to end.
I don't want to hear about the second half.
But it makes me excited for, like,
the new shows that are coming out.
Darrell Dixon and Rick and Michone should be pretty cool.
I agree.
I know I'm a little more lenient on fear,
but I know it has its big ups and big downs.
But I hope it gets better.
But we're going to be missing Morgan.
Madison's the main character again.
Oof.
I know.
How, okay, sorry, I don't, I've said this before,
but she's a good actress.
How is she so bad in this show?
I don't know.
Even her voice is annoying.
Bad.
I mean,
some could make the case that Travis doesn't want to come back.
That's the whole thing.
He's happy to be gone.
He's like,
thank God that happened.
One could make that case.
That's why they didn't show his bite.
He faked his death to get the hell away from that chick,
and he's gone.
He's like in Cabo right now.
Just chilling.
Yeah.
Let's be honest.
We all loved him.
I get it.
He got on our nerves a bit, but we're all going to miss Morgan until we see him again.
He's sipping my tides, man.
He's just like, hell yeah.
