Starting point is 00:00:00 The Blaze Radio Network On Demand Season 4, episode 11, The Code. Jeff Fisher, along with Jason Butchell and Maximus Fisher, and that makes this talking fear. The IMDB description Morgan's journey is derailed by some new acquaintances.
Starting point is 00:00:40 I don't know. I don't know what to think anymore about this show. I kind of think that even, like we said this last week, but it almost seems like there's like plot lines that they were going to roll with, you know, like before everyone decided that they were leaving the original Walking Dead show. Yes. Well, hey, we got the boxes. This still kind of felt like that was one of those. They just like added it. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:06 They did reference that he was linking up with his friends to take them. But I don't know. Were those after, you know, like retakes afterwards to add in? I don't know. This made no sense to me. No sense to me. Why do this? He ended up in Mississippi, so.
Starting point is 00:01:21 I know, but some of it didn't make much sense. I know that they talked about, you know, Morgan's struggle when he lied and said the bridge was out and come back. He didn't need to do that. I was so confused when that happened. I love Morgan as a character, but I was so confused when that happened. Why didn't he? I mean, he could have just said, hey, I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
Starting point is 00:01:44 We're going to go to Virginia. Whatever. He didn't need to have the bridges out. Yeah. We have to go. It didn't make any sense why Morgan would do that. Then when we heard some of the voices, I was just like, oh, are we going back to clear mode? Right.
Starting point is 00:01:58 I thought we were going back to clear mode for a little while. That's very possible. That's a good call. Some of the, you know, a couple of the good things during the episode is, well, let's start. First, before we get to a couple of good things, I thought it was a great thing that he found the trailer, a two hole up in, right, during the storm. and it was, you know, of course, you know, it was like a heaven sent, right? I mean, he finds a trailer and it's food and blankets and warmth. And water.
Starting point is 00:02:26 So, I mean, did it, did they said that they moved that trailer, right? Was that part of the deal that the trailer they picked it up and he traveled in the back of that trailer with them? Yeah. Well, yeah, but they never really talked about that. I'm sorry, I only watched the episode once. I know you usually watch it three or four times, Jason. Oh, oh, yeah. Because why wouldn't I?
Starting point is 00:02:49 So I may have missed that part. No, I remember. They said he went to the back of the trailer and they probably didn't notice him. So they just locked the back of the trailer and drove from where they were in Texas to Mississippi. Right. But the trailer was still open. I mean, when he wakes up, he opens the door. It wasn't locked.
Starting point is 00:03:10 It wasn't locked in. Right. Because there was the walker there trying to get in. Right. And he opens the door. He kills the walker. and then he's in, you know, mud pie heaven. So whatever the truck stop was.
Starting point is 00:03:22 So those sloped truck stop. Whatever. So those two people were sleeping in, I guess, in the cab of the truck? I guess. And they just didn't, they just didn't hear him beating on the window or whatever. That's why I was like, maybe. Or they were just out. I guess.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I don't know. No, I can, it's a big storm, right? So they weren't driving during the storm. So when they started to drive, the storm was over. and no matter how tired you are, you're in the back of a semi-trailer, you pretty much know when that's... I don't know how many times you're stuck across country
Starting point is 00:03:57 in the back of a semi-trailer, Jason, but... A few times. I've done it a couple times. The semi-trailer hobo. Well, I think it's good for us to talk through this because I just did not understand a ton of this episode. A lot of it should not make any sense. So those two people,
Starting point is 00:04:16 Did they, so they stole it from the beer guy or they stole it from? They stole from that girl we saw at the end. Yeah, the, the, the, leave a note on a Walker lady. Right. Okay, so, so they sold it from her? She's the, she's the original truck driver? Yes, from what we saw. So where'd the beer guy come from?
Starting point is 00:04:40 The beer guy came from, he was part of his story. His story was actually kind of, was kind of cool. He was almost this rich guy in regular days with his beer company, and he gave his story about how important beer was in history and how important beer is going to be in the future, which I kind of enjoyed. I thought that was good. However, that having been said,
Starting point is 00:05:04 I didn't understand the put the bag over his head and make him run. Who did that? Some other group, right? No, I think the handicapped guy and his girlfriend. Was it them? Okay. No, it was his sister, not his girlfriend. Remember, they're twins.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Whatever. Yeah, that's right. Their sister and brother. Okay. It was them, I thought. So they ransacked his brewery? I guess. And stole some of his stuff and put it in that trailer?
Starting point is 00:05:29 And I don't understand why they put him out in the field with a bag over his head that wasn't tied that he probably could have shook the bag off his head instead of ran with it on. See? The bag wasn't tied around his neck. Okay, I'm curious, like, when they finally reveal, maybe this was the plot line to, figure out how they're, I don't know. Okay, I don't know. I really don't know. But was this added in so that they could get, like after the facts, they could get to the, to the lady? Maybe. Maybe the next episode. I'm really curious if all this kind of links up well or synergizes when they introduce this lady. Because this, everything about this episode did not make sense to me. Why even do it? It's really strange. I know we've, you know, there were some okay scenes. There were. With the, you know, with, you know, with. with the people, but it didn't make a lot of sense. And there was, of course, Morgan in the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Yeah, in the handicapped stall, which I thought was funny. You know, it was kind of cute. You know, even in times where, you know, you roll up. I mean, how many times, look, how many times you've been in the handicapped stall and the wheel rolls up? I mean, why did you look at me right before you said that? I mean, I wish there was video on this.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Am I the only one that feels bad when you're in the handicaps, doll in the wheel? That's happened before to you? No. I don't know what you're talking about. But I thought that was funny. That's happened to me before at Wendy's. At Wendy's?
Starting point is 00:07:02 Yeah, you know how you have those tables and it's got like the little blue decal on there? The handicapped tables, yeah. I'm sorry, my kids always go to that table. I have no idea why they do that. But I've been sitting there and someone rolled by me, just kind of stared at it, and rolled on. I was like, it wasn't me. It was them.
Starting point is 00:07:16 They sat here. Not my fault. I believe that the reason they do that is because a lot of those places, and I'm not sure about the particular Wendy's that you visited, but a lot of those places, the only table that has chairs that actually move. Yeah, that's true. It's the handicapped table. That's true.
Starting point is 00:07:31 So I'm sorry, if I see you come in to the restaurant and you're in your wheelchair, I promise I will move. Right. But until then, I'm using. the chairs that move. I love, but Morgan's comment, though, was kind of good. He was like, they always got to be kind of honest. They always seem kind of like little mini apartments.
Starting point is 00:07:51 But then he starts with about a sink in there. And when you looked at it, there was like all this like infrastructure. I've never seen a handicapped toilet that built up. I have. Yeah, I have to. With a sink? Yeah, yeah. Seriously?
Starting point is 00:08:02 Yes. But you better not say Buckees because they probably have like a penthouse apartment. No, I know the Arlington Activity Center. Yeah, I mean, how many times you go to the Arlington? Activity Center. I've never even heard of the Arlington Activity Center. I don't think I have either, but apparently
Starting point is 00:08:19 that's right next to you. I have seen handicapped stalls like that, yes. With the sink and the toilet and the paper towels and the whole kitten caboodle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:34 So, I mean, that was kind of cute. But the rest of it was, you know, Morgan with his protein bars and the trailer and the, you know, they made the about the pancakes and I don't know it's just you know it really wasn't a bad episode if it was like I can imagine this being like an episode number one or some other thing I don't know it just it was just so weird like how everyone they're trying to split everybody apart I mean I think
Starting point is 00:09:02 I texted that to you as like what's the point is because I came into this late I was watching the Cowboys I had that work out for you by the way yeah let's not let's not drag those emotions back it was not good preseason it's not preseason it's not preseason it's not pre But I couldn't But when watching this It's like what is the point? Like is this just to split Morgan apart So you split him apart
Starting point is 00:09:21 But now you're bringing him back To link up to the group But we have to deal with the lady first Well I mean we're all going to have to look The whole season now is going to be Morgan struggling with going to Virginia Right And whether he wants to bring the new people
Starting point is 00:09:37 Or the old people Or who he wants to bring And how he wants to get there But he's going to be struggling With going to Virginia Right And getting back with Rick and the gang So he can struggle with that from now until the end of the season
Starting point is 00:09:51 And then we merge them all together And people are starting to recognize now We're three shows in I just want to say that those of you that have been listening to this podcast Talking Fear you heard that right off the bat Knowing that that's what they're working up to Yep Those of you on social media
Starting point is 00:10:08 That just tuning in for the first time Go back a couple episodes and you'll say Oh, we're already on it So if you want to be ahead of the game Listen to this podcast. It's all I'm saying. Thanks for being here. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:10:23 I will say, you know, look, Morgan, we had, it was weird that we didn't have, we didn't see any of the other crew. Yeah, we didn't see any. Right? We saw two, we saw. Morgan, Jim, and the siblings. And then at the end, the lady, I can't remember the siblings. Yeah. names.
Starting point is 00:10:45 The note on a Walker lady. She actually seems like kind of a cool villain. She does. I like that. That was the end scene where she's all writing it on the dude's face. That was kind of dope. I know. But she's got no crew, which is kind of weird.
Starting point is 00:11:00 See, that's another thing. That brings me, I'm sorry, go ahead. What I'm wondering is why she leaves the boxes. Because she seems like of the villain type, but we found out she was the one originally leaving the boxes. Yeah, take what you can. No, take what you need, leave what you don't. Yeah, whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:19 I mean, if you think about it, maybe it's got another version of Terminus. Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Just leading people on, but it's the same storyline. That's what I'm guessing. And one thing they said was all the boxes were left at highway signs with the number four. There wasn't one with that. Every time there was a highway sign without the number four, she never left a box there. It was always with the number four.
Starting point is 00:11:46 She left a box. That's a very Brad Staggs thing to notice. I'm not sure that it matters. I didn't notice it. They basically, they said it. They said it in the episode. I don't know that it matters. And you notice that they use screws instead of three-quarter-inch nut bolts?
Starting point is 00:12:05 And where would they find those in the apocalypse? This is bull crap. The street side never would have broken off on Morgan's pole like that. Even though it would have broken differently. And did you notice that it was different in a scene later? At Real Bradstags. Catch him on Twitter. But let's, you know, where I'm headed with this is, what about, it seems like from time to time.
Starting point is 00:12:30 We did the time jump with fear, right? We did the time jump. So we're up to where we are in dead. We're in between seasons and dead because dead will have, I believe, a time jump of a year. Yeah, but I don't care about that. I don't care about what's going to happen in the future. I'm talking about what happened right now.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Fear did the time jump to catch up with dead so that mortgage can join them. That was the deal, right? Mm-hmm. So fear has now been through the same amount of time as dead. And yet it seems like they're not even close to being as tough off as the walking dead people. I mean, there's still got plenty of food. There's no, there's no Niggins. There's only a couple.
Starting point is 00:13:23 You know, there's a few people that are bad guys that have got a few bad guys that are trying to do this, but there's no, you know. Governors. Yeah. I mean, and we're still trying to figure it out. We've got a guy that's still worried about making beer. I mean, I love the concept and I love all that. But when he was up on the bridge going to help Morgan, I don't know, done this. I've been in my brewery for all this time.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Really? If he's lived in his brewery for this entire time, good on him. I'm being serious. If he survived that. I don't quite understand what they're doing with the time jump and what they're doing with where we're at. And some of the walkers looked really fresh. A couple of the walkers looked old.
Starting point is 00:14:10 You know, we got some walkers. I guess they could still be fresh from the storm. Okay. I don't, I don't even think they're even thinking it through. I think that they just don't have the writers to come up, like Kirkman, that can come up with cool villains, and they just haven't been able to hit that yet. You know what I mean? Like, there hasn't been one good villain in this show yet.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Can you think of one? I can't. No, but, but, but, but, I'll go with you on that. But it seems like we still, even without the villain, there should, these people should be worse off. Yeah. There should be a lot worse off. I mean, they had the stadium. I guess that kind of helped them with not being that bad, but that only lasted a year.
Starting point is 00:14:50 If you, the timeline, where they're at in the timeline is kind of interesting to me. Like, I'm assuming they're, so right now they've got to be, I'm assuming, because it took what? How long, it took months for Morgan to get out there? Yeah. I don't know how long it took Morgan from get to Virginia to Texas. It took them 93 and a half days. So I'm assuming that the battle with the Saviors is already over in Virginia. It's been over.
Starting point is 00:15:13 He left after. The battle. Oh yeah, that's right. He did. So now they're in, they're in rebuilding phase, I'm guessing. They're in the time jump. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Right now. Yeah. Okay. So it makes complete sense. If our theory is correct at the end of this season and they're on their way back over, by the time they show up, it'll be about the time for them to start up with the whispers. Right? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Probably. Probably. It makes sense. You know, we saw in the in the, uh, And the sneak peek for next week, they showed Al's, Al got her MRAP car, armored vehicle thing stolen. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Was it by that lady? I don't know. The lady was in the car, right? The lady was in a car. She wasn't in Al's car, in the truck. When they showed her driving to meet, to catch up with Morgan or whatever, she was in an automobile. She wasn't in a big armored vehicle.
Starting point is 00:16:14 vehicle. And then we see Al later in the car. So whoever steals it. Oh, that's true. I was just kind of like rationalizing it through with our theory. Is that having that semi-truck with the trailer makes perfect sense? Yes, it does. If she no longer has that car.
Starting point is 00:16:32 So that could hold the entire group plus supplies and get them over to Alexandria somewhat quickly. Yeah. They're there the The fighting keeping the Keeping the trailer safe From intruders Is the battle to go to Virginia Right
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah Yeah And they don't want to have that vehicle Show up on the walking day Because it's way too overpowered Oh that would have been good No I want me I personally want Al's truck
Starting point is 00:16:58 Oh To show up on dead For sure But I think I do too But I think it's a total It's way too much Of a force multiplier
Starting point is 00:17:06 You know what I mean Like If anytime there was an issue just show up with Al's truck. You know, Maggie's group, you know, pushing up on Rick too much. You say something?
Starting point is 00:17:14 Yeah, exactly. Okay. Who would... Al. Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. Now, what were you saying again? Who would Al side with is the question.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Who would she side with? Hilltop, Kingdom, or Alexandria? I don't know. She goes with Rick. Because Rick will roll, let her roll tape. That's all she cares about. Whoever has the better story.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so before we leave, And we talk a little bit about next week and in the future of this program, which is really so strange. And you're right. It feels like now that they came up with the alternate plan of we've got to merge with dead because everybody's leaving and we've got to make them all one big deal. We've got to bring in a few new characters to get us to Virginia and Morgan to freak out. But I say it's time that maybe we go back to our characters that we're starting.
Starting point is 00:18:08 starting to gel and we're starting to make the audience really like them. And then you've just sent them away. I mean, you've sent them away. You've forced Alicia down our throat. You force the kid down our throat. Morgan, of course you forced him. He's the star. He's the one that's saving his show. I get it. And John is helping to. John is he? Is he? Where's he at? Not for the past two episodes. Not for the past two episodes. Yeah, but stupid. He's shot him. He's been he's been laid up in a bus. I mean, and these characters, were the ones that were starting to gel with us and starting to, that's what made us start to like the show again.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And then it's just like, oh, I would just go let's send them away. Such a waste. And do they pay these actors per episode? Yeah, I don't know what they. I don't know. Which, but makes sense because I was wondering how they were able to afford with, with, I was just, there's no way they could have a big budget on this because the show was doing so badly.
Starting point is 00:19:03 So it's got to, I mean, probably. But I was like, how are they able to afford to bring all these actors? then. Well, easy. We just have them on like two episodes per season or per half season. That's what they're doing. And it sure seems that way, which is bad, which is bad, right? Because then we're back to nobody to wrap our arms around. Nobody to love except for their, you know, the one savior, Morgan, which is fine. I'm happy with Morgan being there. He saved the show. I told you we, we told you he would. but those other characters added so much. I mean, with John being an amazing character from what we've seen,
Starting point is 00:19:39 I personally love John and Al being a cool character. Only you guys make fun, I do too. Her little obsession with the camera. Yeah, well, you know, she gets plenty of gasoline for that diesel-charged truck that we know where she's getting it now in Mississippi. At the truck stop. And what was that little speech from the truck? drivers. Like, oh, yeah, we know where to get the diesel.
Starting point is 00:20:03 As if there's like some underground network of diesel. I was like, oh, okay, yeah. The black market diesel is pretty, uh, diesel black market's pretty, uh, I'm pretty sure there's, I mean, I'm not sure. Underground. I'm not sure what pipeline goes through Mississippi.
Starting point is 00:20:18 So there might be a secret pipeline. Well, they said it was solar power, the, the thing was solar powered in that it had their own water reserve, kind of like. Yeah, but that's not diesel. That's not, kind of like Alexandria. That's not petroleum. Yeah, I mean, it was nice to see, you know, lights turn on when you click the switch.
Starting point is 00:20:35 And, you know, we've got shells full of stuff and leave what you don't. So nice. Don't take everything. We stole it from someone else. Agonizing. All that is, in my opinion, is just, like I said, the terminus thing. You know, sanctuary is here. Just follow these the road.
Starting point is 00:20:53 But she's saying follow the boxes. Pretty much. That's got to be all this. And then there was the actual code. Yeah, what was the actual code? I think it was, I'm not going to try to word it like he did, but I think it was help people that need help and keep on trucking. That's a code to live by.
Starting point is 00:21:13 They totally made that up on the fly, too. Yeah, definitely. That is a code to live by right there. And then they left Morgan on the, you know, when he falls down the ravine on top of the rock and on the van. I thought for sure, at least they could have done. And you're right, it would have cost him a little bit more. money, Jason, to have, you know, Al or John show up and save him.
Starting point is 00:21:35 You know, so then he's got his partner with them that they could go back to the brother and sister truck drivers and he's got somebody there. But no, he had to save himself. You knew he would. I mean, I honestly had a slight doubt in my mind. I even said it aloud. Is this where Morgan will actually die? No way.
Starting point is 00:21:54 They don't kill Morgan. No. He's too much. If they kill Morgan on this show, I don't know what would happen. Well, I mean, yeah, they brought him over to save it. They're not going to kill him. And I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:22:05 But, and I put this in our little group text. This guy's like this supposed karate master. You know what I'm saying? He's like Kane from Kung Fu. He's got the... He literally is. They basically took the story of Kane from Kung Fu and made it Morgan. That's what this is.
Starting point is 00:22:23 His story is that. He's Carradine. But like, but he can't take out a guy in a wheelchair. and some old truck driving chick. Are you kidding me? It doesn't seem kind of strange. Well, he doesn't want to kill them. We know this.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, he's all for life, right? He doesn't have to. That's all the way he was trained was to take people out in non-violent ways. And the thing, well, but. Or non-lethal ways. He doesn't want to take their life. But after, right after,
Starting point is 00:22:53 I get it up until they left him on top of the truck, right? Until they screwed him with the walkers. And then he gets back to them. That's when you put the sign inside their head, right? You kill them. It's over. Even if he does it.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Or at least take them or at least incapacitate them or something. Put them in their place or something. But there's nothing you could do to somebody in a wheelchair that would incapacitate them. Oh, wait. It would be so difficult. Take the wheels off. I don't know how someone could do that. I wonder what I found, which I thought would have been perfect.
Starting point is 00:23:27 I said this during it. At first I was like, you know, screw them, leave them, just let them do. You walk back to Texas yourself. Just leave them alone after you get free, right? And then it hit me. Oh, crap. His stick is in that trailer. Never mind.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Go after them. Yeah, that's true. But he could make his own. He could make a new step. Yeah, I was like, that's exactly what I thought. Lumber is in abundance. I think he'd think he'd be all right. He can do stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:56 He's got the street sign. He's got. the street side to hang out with for a while so he's okay. No, Morgan sounds kind of dope. He's, I know, I like the street side move. He cracks me up, though.
Starting point is 00:24:07 I love every time there's about to be a combat scene with Morgan. He can't just, like, you know, stab the guy with his stick or whatever. He does a few, you know, like, little twirls. I'm like, come on. I wonder if he...
Starting point is 00:24:19 He's going to take a step back. Yeah, and they do the sound effect. I bet that's not even scripted. I think that's not even scripted. I think that, Just the actor playing Morgan just has so much fun with the stick. He's just having fun with it when he has to. But you're absolutely right that there's no just, I'm just going to kill you.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Or I'm just going to incapacitate you if he only kills the walkers. There's eight walkers coming at me in the same room. What about when he flipped the light switch with the stick? Remember when he trolled the stick? What about when he trolled the dick and flipped the white light switch and the guy? gas station? I mean, he loves using that, right? You're right, that's what he loves. And I'm surprised he didn't take the step
Starting point is 00:25:04 back. Ooh, I've got to turn the little light switch. I was literally waiting for like, you know, all of a sudden for his voice to be dubbed, like in a 1960s, you know, kung fu movie. You will not mouth still moving. Your kung fu is not as strong as my
Starting point is 00:25:20 borgo is the new anime. All right. Walking Dead, the anime. So I don't know where we ended. It was okay, I guess. It was just okay. To close out my opinion on this, it wasn't a bad episode.
Starting point is 00:25:37 It just did not fit, so I have no idea what the heck they're doing. And it's because I think they changed their plot. I'm still rolling with that. I think they changed a lot of stuff. They had to add in new scenes to make it make sense for them to merge shows. I believe that. I believe that. And I will say that just on the side note for the show that comes on,
Starting point is 00:25:56 And after Preacher Talking after Fear of the Walking Dead And Walking Dead That show ended last night It was the season finale So you're gonna get the You're gonna get a Hardwick show
Starting point is 00:26:06 Right after hopefully now And they'd made you wait more than an hour Last night Because the season premiere was like an hour And a half or an hour and 20 minutes long So Hardwick didn't even get on Until an hour and 20 After the show
Starting point is 00:26:19 That I didn't even watch I'm so mad for him Did you watch? Yeah I watched some of it Anything good He had two new characters on and who was the guy
Starting point is 00:26:28 Drew Scott He had one of the property brothers on Property Brothers on That's really weird He said that Really weird He must have been walking down the hallway And Drew was there to do a television commercial
