Welcome to it, season four, episode 12, titled appropriately again this week, with the title
Week.
Jeff Fisher, joining me Jason Butchell, Maximus Fisher, and that makes this talking fear.
I know that it's Coleman Domingo's directorial debut, and we're, you know, we're loving the,
you know, his vision and how he sees the show.
and all the actors are, you know, love and working with them.
And he definitely gets how to make them work and bring out the creative juices in them.
And it still lacks some, what's the word I'm looking for?
Oh, I don't know.
Writing.
Exactly.
Jason, as a professional writer.
As a writer, I notice these things.
You know, you notice when, okay, and Granite, Domingo, that's his last name?
Coleman Domingo.
Strand.
I thought they're like directing wise.
It wasn't bad.
Directing wise, he was good.
Good shots, good action, you know what I mean?
But he can only do so much with the material he's given.
And when you, and this is our theory again, scrap the entire plot line because all the main
characters on Walking Dead, the actual show we care about.
It sure feels that way so much now.
Right?
Again, this was another, I would love to see Coleman try and direct a Walking Dead episode.
You know, go for it.
You got good writing.
I think he turned something out pretty good.
I mean, with season nine coming, this season looks really good from what we've seen.
So if it is really good, and if he does direct an episode, might end up being really good.
And he even talked about, you know, he was interviewed about it.
And he talked about, you know, he hasn't directed a show where he's had to act in it as well,
which, you know, he said, hey, bring it on.
You know, I'm ready for the challenge.
But he hasn't done that either.
Made it easier for him not to be in the episode.
However, let's talk about that for a little bit.
Are we not supposed to be a group?
Yeah.
A group that is facing a struggle that now we're looking at possibly taking this group on the road to join another group.
And yet we stick with these episodes of two people that with a couple of new people and a couple of walkers and we bring in an evil person.
but the group itself has not gelled at all because they're never together.
The storm has put them apart.
Okay, so the storm has put them apart.
I mean, it's walking dead.
So let's find a way to bring them back together.
It's easy enough to bring them back together where they don't need to be on walkie-talkies at the top of a water tower.
I mean, we've had split-ups before.
Right.
And I think that, again, that these were plot lines, the plot line, the main.
overarching plot line of Let's Go to Virginia
was not the original plot line. I don't think so either.
It was making this villain of this witch lady.
That was the original plot line for this season.
We still don't know her name.
The Lady of the Creeps.
Yeah, the Lady of the Creeps.
The Walker Note lady.
She's pretty good, actually.
I hope that they make her good is what they're leading her up to be.
There are so many things.
I was just, before we set, before we hit record on this, I was trying to remember all the things that really irked me about this episode.
And I, one of them was, there is no sense of, it's almost like my, my issue with Game of Thrones.
So like, in Game of Thrones are like, people are like, hey, something's going on an entire world away.
But then like next episode, they're like, they've already met up.
There's been no travel.
There's been no time and distance.
There's like, you know what I'm saying?
It's like everybody can teleport to like certain areas all over the place.
Mouthed in Game of Thrones?
No, I mean, it's hard to badmouthed Game of Thrones, but that's the one issue.
It's like, all of a sudden like, oh, hey, he left and now he's there.
I mean, we're, we're, if we want to talk about Game of Thrones, I'm more than happy
to talk about Game of Thrones, but I'll be out of here.
I don't know anything.
But just then silence from you.
I'm a little disappointed that the final, the final season is coming in February or
March or something and it's only like six or seven episodes.
Yeah, I know.
there'll be four-hour episodes
You are kidding
I mean it got too expensive
for them to produce
And look they had time jumps all the time
In Game of Thrones
And that's how they traveled, right?
Instead of taking
You know they,
you see them go on a ship
And you know
The next episode
The ship has arrived
On a four month journey
Right and no one else has had a time jump
Just that one
But so that was my issue here
It's like so Morgan is going
With this new group
Trying to find his friends
And then
like this witch chick.
Like, how is she jumping all over the place?
Like, she meets up with Morgan, right?
Like, remember when he said, like,
I want to go for a walk.
Which made no, that was another thing
that irritated me to make no sense.
What?
You're walking down the road, and you said,
hey, you guys hang out there.
I'm going to walk down.
I'm like, what?
That only makes sense
if you walk in another direction out into the field.
But you kept walking straight down the road.
Bro, just jump in the truck and keep going straight.
Well, he walked down the road that they'd already come down, right?
I don't know.
He walked.
That went in reverse then.
Yeah.
He walked ground they'd already covered.
It made no sense to me.
I was like, this is stupid.
Again, they're like more ways for them to split up.
Although, correct.
That's what I don't understand.
I mean, I get to maybe walking around, you know, the stopping because they're saving gas, you know, instead of driving.
That and they're placing, and Morgan's making them place the boxes.
Well, okay.
But that aren't contaminated.
We'll talk about that later.
So now we've got the new group.
The brother and sister.
and the beer maker, but now Morgan has left them.
He isn't left them.
He's still with them.
He's out for his walk, son.
He didn't leave, but he's out for their walk.
We don't have, we go back once in a while and see them at the truck.
We never see how a handicapped boy gets out of the truck.
He's just either in the truck or out of the truck.
Yeah, we don't, yeah, we never see.
Sorry, I don't.
That, I'm a little confused.
It really bothers me how we don't see Wendell get out of the truck.
Me too.
It's kind of a Bradism, but okay, I'll go with you on that.
I mean, I just don't understand.
Well, I'm just saying it drives me crazy.
It's kind of like he's either in the truck or he's outside of the truck.
And I get it.
I mean, I get it.
But there's no, we haven't seen the special semi-truck lift that lifts him in and out, something.
Right.
I mean, because the sister isn't picking his big butt up and dragging him out of there.
I just, you're right.
I'm sorry.
It's just a little thing that kind of bugged.
We both thought this was cool.
But it also is a time jump.
It's the same thing as a time jump.
We just, we know it happens.
This witch lady is all over the map.
And she's like meeting up with all these different characters.
Did she already get Al's truck or she's just about to, or she does next episode?
She got it at the end of the episode, but.
How does she seemingly know where everybody is?
Every main character.
Like none of them can find each other, but the witch lady can find all of them.
She can hear it all.
And she hears it all.
Morgan has to travel to the top of a water tower to try to get somebody on his walkie-talkie, but she can hear it all.
See, how?
It makes no sense to me.
And it just makes no sense.
And that's another thing is I think these were plot lines that were probably going to be developed in the original, you know, story arc, which they completely threw out.
So now they're just like, they're taking like little bits and pieces and trying to inject what they already shot into the new stuff.
I believe that.
We thought it was cool when the semi was driving and there was the Walker, like, hooked on the hood of the semi.
Okay, but that's something that would have been there from the, from the old plot line that was kind of cool.
You know, the Walker hanging on the front of the semi.
and ripping them off and, you know, them joking around about hitting walkers and dragging them around.
I get it.
That's kind of a cool little thing.
But it's still, then it's like, you're right.
Then we insert, well, we have to go to Virginia now.
Yeah.
And I'm not sure.
Then we go to Al.
Alan June.
In the beginning, we had June watching the tape of the tape.
The battery go dead.
We finally admitted that there's battery power that goes dead.
Thank you.
on the walkie dokeys and the videotape.
Finally got to the diesel question.
Yeah, they were looking for the, they were finally.
Well, at least we find out how Al does it.
She just completely finds a lot of diesel.
But yeah, it's magic.
I'm confused at why.
We still don't know why the creepy lady is poisoning people, right?
Because that's why Al was sick.
Because she wants to clear them of their weakness?
I guess.
Yeah, that's what I'm.
Maybe.
Does that mean turning them into walkers?
I don't know, because one thing, because what happened, what I said during the episode was, is when Al was sick and we see, and we see a witch lady putting the dirty water into the water bottle.
And then it, then it completely cuts to Al pretty much insinuating, oh, that's why she's sick.
Like, it got me thinking at first.
I was like, then why isn't Morgan sick?
He was drinking the water.
And then I thought, oh, all the boxes in the trailer.
she hadn't touched yet.
Right.
So when all the boxes they're putting down are clean.
Right.
Yeah, she's going back and redoing it.
Correct.
Right.
But the point is we don't know exactly why.
And I wanted the guy who killed all the people in the bus.
He didn't kill all the people in the bus.
So bad.
Yeah, he did.
No, he didn't.
Max, he did so.
The guy that took Al's truck.
Yeah, he didn't.
can kill all the people on the bus.
He said he was looking, it was already there
and he was checking if it had diesel.
Yeah, and he killed the gunshots
we heard were the people he was killing in the bus.
He was shooting
some walkers. He didn't kill
every one of the bus.
He did not kill people at the bus.
The walker people.
Okay. The people walkers.
Okay.
I will look this up next week.
You can rewatch the episode
then and tell me, oh, you know, you were right.
Anyway, I'm very disappointed in the whole breakup thing.
I mean, let's get them, if we're going to focus on merging the two shows,
which they haven't admitted to, but that's what they're going to do.
You know it is.
Look, you listen to this podcast, you know that's what they're going to do.
I was just looking up an article.
I was just trying to read through it, but it was way too long.
But it was one of the creators.
Do I hate people that write long?
I know.
But seriously, that does irritate me, though, like these long.
Long-form articles are like 4,000 words.
Just tell us what you mean.
I know.
I don't have to hear all the descriptive.
So, I walked into the interview in Air Conditioner was on.
It was cold.
Who cares?
Just tell us what was said in the interview.
Anyways, I hiked my pants to sit.
There was an odor in the air, which is always around when Jeffie, uh, fissures in the room.
That wouldn't be in the story.
But, but anyway, but one of the creators basically said that he was asked if there was
more a crossover's plan for the future.
And he just basically cryptically said possibly.
Of course.
So like, but we know that this is season four, right?
Yes.
So we know fear is renewed for season five.
Yes.
So it's at least going to take another year for them to jump up to walking dead.
But is Morgan going to come back to for season nine or not?
I think, I think that it'll take the rest of this season to get them back together
and get them on this new.
timeline. I bet next season of fear
will be their journey
and then the end of it will probably be like
the season finale will probably be the season opening
of after all the walkers
after the whisperer timeline
has already been our story's been told. And I wouldn't
be surprised to see
Walking Dead merged to fear and not
fear merged to Walking Dead. So Walking
Dead goes away. Right. Fear stays.
Because the story now is just so vastly different
characters are different. Right. You can't
hardly call it Walking Dead anymore.
Right. So they merge.
Well, they're going, oh, I just thought of something that might be a good theory.
If they merge, think of this.
They haven't really confirmed Andrew Lincoln is going to die in season nine.
They said it is going to be his last season of The Walking Dead.
If they merge with fear, Rick could be on Fear the Walking Dead now.
Think about that.
I like that idea, but I don't think that's going to happen, but I like it.
It would definitely save the show.
No question.
And they could do, I mean, they could bring him back.
I really do think it's budget, right?
I think you're right on that with the, they had to redo their plans to make it so we're
focused on getting back to Virginia and merging.
And we've only got so much money.
So two actors a show
With a couple of new people that were paying you know 20 bucks a day
And they'll spend all next season on some vacant road
Every once in a while when they run into some you know
Small village or whatever so they have it so it's not going to cost them too much money
They don't shoot in a town or anywhere
Nothing over the top just them traveling to Virginia
So strange
So strange
Yeah I totally got to be it's got to be
And we learned a little more a little bit of
Al and her reasoning for doing what she does.
Did we?
A little bit.
I don't remember.
We learned anything that we didn't already know, did we?
She's a reporter.
We know now that she has tapes of people that she cared about.
Well, duh.
And is that, that's not, is that her, explain her ridiculous attachment to this, to this truck?
We haven't found the attachment to the truck.
Which irritates me as well.
It's not a van.
It's a freaking MRAP.
You know what I mean?
It's not a van.
My grandma drives a van.
We haven't found out why she's so attached to the SWAT truck yet.
I mean, that's what Jason's saying, right?
Is that, I was talking about, like, the camera, though.
And, like, what she does what she does with the camera, not the truck.
Understand.
But that's what Jason was saying is that that's got, that's the only reason that she comes up with,
why she wants to keep the van.
And she lies to June about being sick.
Call it a van one more time, Jeffie.
It's a van.
But she lies to June about there being medicine in there
just so she can get it back.
Yeah, it was really strange.
Yeah, is it the camera?
I don't understand what she wants the camera back.
But then it just seems like she has this crazy attachment to this MRAP.
Yes, she was.
And I'm like, there's got to be stories.
There's got to be a story behind that, but again, like, they're not developing these characters enough for us to care about them.
Again, they're doing it again.
Like, they could be.
What is the MRAP?
It's not a van.
Oh, the truck that she drives around.
Oh, the truck.
Okay.
The truck that has weapons.
The thing that runs on diesel that seems to never run out of diesel until last episode.
What about two miles to the gallon?
What did you guys think of Quinn?
The new guy that showed up and then died at the end?
completely forgettable and they lot i mean why again i didn't see much of a point in that
yeah i mean he was he was all he was by himself and he's he got the van running and uh yeah yeah
and then he goes and you know he kills people at the bus to get medicine that were walkers
it was so forgettable again that you got to got to wonder did they mean for it to actually play
out this way you know it was just so forgettable again that you know it was just so forgettable again that you
forgettable. It was like, oh, we introduced this new character.
Bam, we kill him off at the end.
Okay, well, so? He's not worth it.
It was all it was was a character that June had to struggle with, right?
It was because June, I almost became that person again.
Oh, yes. Do not try and turn her into Carol.
Dude, that was the other thing that irritated me. It was like they were trying to turn June into Carol.
Thank you.
I was like, no, you will not.
They will. That's what they're doing.
June meets Carol.
How would that go?
That's what they're doing.
Carol would choke her out in like 1.2 seconds.
No, this is stupid.
The biggest turnoff for Walking Dead diehard fans
is if you try and turn these posers
into the characters that we love from Walking Dead,
I will just stop watching all together.
Screw your podcast, Jeffie.
I will stop watching if they continue to try to do that.
What about next week?
Next week we'll have more John.
And we all love John.
Next week we have more John.
No, we're not there yet.
It's good.
It's good. And I love John.
Unless they try and again.
They can't make him into Rick.
Carbon copy him.
No, no.
They're trying to turn Alicia into Rick.
Yes.
They were trying to turn.
And they want, would say they had, what's your face?
Madison.
Madison.
Yes.
It's a shame she's gone.
Oh, this is total shame.
And so now it's, now it's Alicia.
And John is, you know, he's always been strong.
struggled with, struggling with killing people, but he does.
Because he knows he has to.
June with, I don't, I want to be that person again.
Shut up.
What about Al?
Al just wants to live.
Stran's now an alcoholic still.
We haven't seen Strain.
What?
Two episodes?
We haven't seen them.
We haven't seen them.
That's my point of just breaking them up.
They're not a group.
They're not a cohesive group at all.
this storm, the storm, the Hurricane Walker, ha, ha, ha, has torn them all apart,
but we're finding no ways, you know, the struggle of getting back together is quite frankly
boring with the walkie-talkies and trying to hear each other.
I mean, it just seems disjointed.
And that's where we get back to their, you know, they're trying to make what they had shot already.
work with new footage to bring in the new because, you know, once, and we've said this before,
I mean, I'm beating a dead horse, but when Rick said, you know what, I'm not doing this anymore,
shot them all down. You know, they've got to bring in a bird jump. Like I said, Rick could be,
Andrew Lincoln could just be leaving the walking dead and saying I'm going to fear, which I would,
I would be a shock, honestly. You heard of here, folks. That will happen.
No, I doubt that very much. But, I mean, it's possible.
I like the thought.
Not going to happen, but I like the thought.
There was another thing, too, that, oh, be sure to remember.
This is how frustrating this show has become to me.
Earlier on Sunday, and I know it was a three-day weekend, and, you know, we got off,
and I hope everybody had a great holiday weekend.
Did you buy that?
I did, but I saw your face.
too.
The,
earlier on the day on Sunday,
I thought,
yeah,
we got fear tonight.
And then,
you know,
we started busting around,
doing this,
doing that.
And,
you know,
I've got a couple other shows
dropped this weekend big
on Amazon and Netflix.
I got other shows to watch.
I was all,
I was bitching hardcore,
too.
We got,
we got Jack Ryan and Ozark.
Jack Ride is so dope.
And did you,
I finished with it yet?
That finished it on Friday.
Yeah,
seven episodes.
blow through those.
It was dope.
Then you got Ozark.
Which was also dope.
I know.
Are you finished with that yet?
No, five episodes did.
Same?
So funny.
I'll tell you, this is my, I started Ozark and then I thought, ah, what I'll do is
I won't make it all right through Ozark.
These are just new shows.
Just silence.
So then I pop on Ozark and I get finished with one.
Let's take out check, right?
Maybe I'll go back and forth so I don't blow through them so fast.
And I watched Jack Ryder the first episode.
I just, we're just going to both plots.
You know, since I have to, can I watch those shows?
I always have to ask permission before I watch TV show,
otherwise I can get in trouble for watching it that I didn't even know if I was allowed to watch it or not.
See how good that is.
See how good that is.
You know, Jason, I'll tell you a story when I was a kid.
My parents would say, you know, before you do something to ask.
And so if I really wanted to do it, this is just you and me talking now.
If I really wanted to do it, I would just do it.
You know, if they ask, hey, you know, I know we talked at one point about you watching that show, sure, go ahead.
And you go, oh, okay, thank you.
And it's already under your belt.
You're already done.
It's just me, though.
Anyway, are you greenlighting him to just go ahead and do it?
I'm just, I'm just saying what I would do.
It's not a yes or no.
It's not a yes or no.
I would do.
Anyway, so there was a couple of, oh, my point was is that then I look up and it was,
it was after, it was after start time of fear.
And I was like, oh.
So, you know, you got to go, I devr it.
So you just go back and start it from the beginning.
But it was, I would never do that with Walking Dead.
Oh, no.
How far into it were you when you came to the realization?
About 12, 13 minutes.
First, first segment.
I was a, I was 8.30 when I finally.
realized there was something I was supposed to do that I wasn't doing at that point.
And even then when I was like, oh, crap, fear.
And then I debated it.
And I was like, ah, I was our episode six.
I'm really wanting it.
I was like, oh, crap.
Okay, fine.
I know nothing.
There's a football game on.
Was there?
Yeah, college.
Oh, I have some good college games.
See, that was another thing.
Unless you crushed Miami.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, I know.
That's the college football is back.
Auburn took out.
Auburn took out Washington.
That was kind of crazy.
Notre Dame over Michigan.
Michigan.
I know.
It's just a couple of upsets.
I know.
See,
there was crap going on.
That's the point.
And here we are with a lot more important than fear.
Boring sports commentary.
Boring sports commentary, my friend.
Silence over there.
Yeah, wow.
Can we get his mic turned off, please?
So anyway, I am looking forward to next week, but it is getting frustrating and it's
time for them to, and look, it's already shot, right?
So whatever we, you know, our ideas are long gone for this season.
But I hope that they get them back together.
soon instead of focusing on a couple of characters each week for the next five weeks, six weeks.
I can't take it.
That's all we're going to get.
I don't think they get together until the last two episodes.
Maybe not until the season finale.
But that's going to be this entire season is them getting back together.
And then season five will be their travel to Alexandria.
Looking up with Virginia.
Yeah.
We actually had the show that comes on after fear, not after another show.
Oh, yeah, felt good.
I know he was real happy.
You could, like, in Hardwick's voice, when he said, welcome back to our regular schedule time, you could hear it in his voice on how happy he was.
Yeah, it was, it was very good to see him back at his real time.
And don't worry, that'll change because AMC.
I'll have a new show to push soon, so he'll be pushed back.
And then he'll be pissed again.
Oh, well, he'll live with it because he likes making the money.
Because it's a good gig.
And they're not going to do that for Walking Dead either.
How many episodes are there?
Will this take us?
Well, is there enough to take us to the open of walking there?
Yes. There is?
Yeah.
Wow.
It seems like we've already gone through so many this season.
Well, this was what, 12?
Yes.
Yeah, 12.
So how many more are there?
There's four or five.
Dang.
And then we're into Walking Dead.
Wow.
First part of October.
I don't know if I can handle it.
I don't know if I can handle it.
That's going to be rough.
Up to Walking Dead?
Yeah.
I know.
And then if they, as we talk about it a little bit,
If they, rumor has it that Rick doesn't survive the season, right?
They're going to kill him off early so that, you know, we have flashbacks and stuff and people struggle with his death or whatever.
That's going to be tough to take.
Dude, yeah, this, oh gosh, we're going to.
That's going to be tough.
And the picture I saw of Rick and Michone and the kid in this field.
Sickening.
We've only got one more season of Maggie and Rick.
Is that?
Can you imagine that?
I know.
And no, Carl?
I know.
Is there any wonder why there's another show desperately trying to catch up to Virginia?
Like, insert new blood?
I know.
Okay, if we, just come on.
The universe itself, the only, after this season, the only ones that will probably be left from season one, Daryl, Carol, and Morgan.
Yeah
Yeah for both the shows
And we'll leave it with
Is there any wonder
Why they're desperately trying to catch up
We're gonna have to do
Time jump
They'll do time jumps after time jumps
To catch up with each other
To make it one show
They better not let the king
Take a more of a starring role
Because if I hear one more of his
Stupid A speeches
I'm gonna
Well he has it
He didn't really
Don't look at me that way
He kind of became more realistic
dick at the end. But I still love his speeches. He's the king, man. He's awesome. I'll tell you
what, if we get more king means more Jerry and that I'm pleased with. Right. It does. That's right.
You're right. More king means more Jerry. I will concede that. What if this season they kill off Jerry?
We riot. We riot. Yes, we do, Max. I would be pissed. I mean, it looked like he was going
down that one episode. Oh, you said you were going to shut it off that. Yeah, I have my finger on
the power button. I saved him. I know.
We actually had a picture.
We actually got a leaked picture of Negan for from season 9.
Really?
From the cell?
From the cell?
No, actually he was out of the cell in this picture.
Really?
Wow.
He had the, he had a little more of the scruff than usual.
