Season 4, Episode 3 of Fear, the Walking Dead titled Good Out Here.
Oh, this is Jeff Fisher, along with Brad Staggs, Jason Butchell, and Maximus Fisher, and that makes this Talking Fear.
Fear soundtrack, beginner, open music, thing.
It was nice.
Sounder.
It's not really a theme song.
It's a whole 15-second intro.
It's more of a thing.
Yeah.
What do you call it?
An intro.
It's like it's an intro
It's sound
It's noise
So here we go
Before we get into the big news
Because I mean they did
They did throw us little curve ball this week
That caught us all a little off guard
I'm still
I'm still eh
I'm still a
I'm still a
Toward the whole
Time jump and trying to get us caught up
And going back and forth
And letting us see what
You know a little
bit of what transpired before we're at where we're at now so where where are we at I mean
which part is the current is it the color part well it's with Bob Bob all right yeah it's
so the colored parts are back before Bob and then the gray parts are with Bob yeah all right
because I have I knew that they were different I just having a hard time keeping up because I mean the
best scenes are with Bob no question and then once Bob is not gray colored or no gray
colored right and then I start realizing crap I forgot to watch the dishes
I got to do my laundry.
And then another, another bobsie, oh, I'm back into it.
It was a pretty good episode.
What's that?
I was just saying it's a pretty good episode.
Define good.
Yeah, I mean, it was good because of what transpired the last 10 minutes or so, right?
But overall, I guess we found out that we know, which we knew, that the diamond was going to shut down.
Right, and we knew that the circus people and the new Fear Negan guy, the vultures.
Are they the vultures? Do we know that for sure?
Yeah, they're called the vultures.
They're the flag people, right?
Yes.
And we, yeah, we know that that guy.
Why do we know that they've shut down the diamond?
How do we know that?
They didn't show that, did they?
Uh-uh.
Well, they, he'd waited in the parking lot.
He knew that they were going to go out, and the food was dead.
They had to go out and get food.
But they haven't, I mean, he was waiting to just take, he was waiting in the parking lot.
just to take over.
So what's weird is they're like strategy as whole like they blockade a community, right?
But they're not even blockading.
They're just like they're just like literally like they're waiting freely.
They're just letting them go in and out.
That's kind of weird.
And circus boy was, you know, beating him to the pods.
The bicyclists.
Because the little girl stole a walkie-talkie and knew everything they were doing.
Right.
Why does Nick hate that guy so much?
No, we know.
We have to find that out.
We have to find that out.
Like, what did he do?
which I think that they are counting on us
sticking around to find that out
but I'm not sure I'm that interested
Wow
It's I mean up already
Well okay
First they're called the vultures
Which reminds me of a poster I used to have
When I was a kid
It had the picture of two vultures sitting on a wire
And said patience my ass
I'm gonna kill something
Which
Did your parents have a talk with you?
I also had a list of the top strains of marijuana
I don't know something
Anyway so
Why don't they just, I mean, because they're not that kind of people.
Why do these kill the fools in the parking lot?
Yeah, I don't understand.
Shoot them dead.
And well, we talked about that as well, right?
The first night that they pulled up.
Right.
When Mr. Circus boy was riding his bike, bullet in the head over.
Right.
Show them who you, show them, do not mess with us.
This is what will happen if you do.
Yeah.
Because they don't look like they're too, like, willing to resort to violence.
No.
Otherwise, they would go in guns blazing.
That's like vultures.
They just sit there and wait for something to die,
and then take over.
Shoot them.
Right.
I don't disagree with that at all.
But we still have how many episodes they have to, like, stretch out.
We have until October.
Right.
So there's 13 more episodes.
They need, like, little bracelets that say, like, WWRD,
that I think what Morgan should give out.
What would Rick do?
Yeah.
What would he do in this situation?
What would Rick do?
He would slaughter every single one of them.
Well, Rick would have been okay with,
our man Nick
going in and killing by
circus boy, right?
But we would have, we may have known
why he hated him so much.
Because he
stole his daughter.
Why did, why?
Well, the little girl,
Nick was looking at her as like his
right, his daughter.
His sister, whatever.
Whatever, yeah.
So he's mad that these guys are using her.
But that wouldn't make him that.
Mad.
I mean, like, shaking and running down the road after this guy.
Like, no.
I mean, I guess we can go on theories now, but.
That's all we have to go on.
That's all we have to go on.
That's all we have.
Maybe he.
Maybe.
Maybe Edis killed Madison.
Who's Edis?
Okay.
Circus boy.
Circus boy.
So there you go.
That makes, now that makes sense.
Okay.
Right.
You just don't know that.
Right.
Well, and remember, Blue Bonnets are a harbinger of death.
because they're only here for a little while.
They stole that from Country Song.
Matter of fact, Darren Watson.
And remember, never.
Look at the flowers.
Yeah, I mean, come on.
They are.
That's what it is.
I mean,
Blue Barnets are only here for the line.
I was the one as a writer that should have said a harbourgerow.
I was glad you said that because I just wanted to say, you know,
from a writer's perspective,
kind of like that line.
Yeah, a little cheesy.
Yeah.
It's kind of giving us way too soon.
Right.
Yeah.
But it does work.
That's it.
He laid down a month.
perspective.
I mean, he laid down amongst the blue bonnets,
you might as well have stuck a target on his forehead
or on his liver, whatever she shot.
It's a good riding vehicle,
so I could see them, you know, using.
Speaking of vehicles.
The foreshadow, that's what we use in the writing community
for something that's going to take place.
It's a plot driver.
Except this one was like getting hit upside the head with Lucille.
It's still, that really is about the only thing
that makes sense for him to be.
be that bad. Yes. Yeah, but
okay, so, but in the, in the preview
for the next episode, didn't they show Madison in the
preview? Yeah, but we keep going back. That's the flashback
back when they were stolen the diamond.
The diamond, right, yeah, because she was coming out of the diamond
where he was cooking hot dogs, remember
because he was like, Wheatty?
So they would be doing a weird time jump because the last
flashback that showed Madison and Nick, they were leaving the
diamond. Right, right. And that's when they were, yes.
And they found the El Camino. And that's when they found
the little girl with a walkie-talkie.
And that's when Nick was. The last flashback we
saw with Madison and Nick was them
was them looking at the blue bottoms.
Right. No, but what I'm saying is the last
time Madison was at the diamond
was her leaving. Yeah, was her leaving
it. So the preview
showed her back at the diamond. So they're
doing some weird funky flashback. Yeah, they're doing
time jumps. You know, doop, doop,
doop. It's kind of like they handed
Scott Gimple the kitchen drawer
where you throw all the crap, you know, in your kitchen.
And they said, here, sort this out.
Yeah. Sort this
out. You go make something happen. Yeah.
And he's trying his best.
I don't know.
I always wondered how they were going to afford all these new actors.
Maybe they're just killing off all the bad ones.
All the ones that don't work.
I don't even think that she's a bad actress.
She's just not the right part for her.
Exactly.
No, she's a good actress.
So, yeah, don't get me wrong with that.
She's a good actress, but the way that she's been written in this show, it's awful.
Yeah, it's not the part.
Although Max watched, I gave him as part of his homework to watch the show that airs after the show.
that airs after fear.
Dang.
How late were you up last night?
About midnight.
He has a job to do.
Don't worry about it.
I'm pretty sure that's illegal.
Sleep deprivation will be fine.
But, oh, trust me, I've stayed up later.
But apparently it was the actor who plays Nick decision to leave.
That's what they were pushing.
That's what they all said.
I saw that, yeah.
They didn't break up with me.
I broke up with them.
Yeah.
But I'm really surprised.
Okay, so let's go back.
Then we'll, before we get to, before we go on to his demise, I don't know that, you know, like the truck crash and the walkers and going to get the wench to pull it out.
Conveniently within walking distance, there were trucks with cable.
Right.
She saw a place where there were trucks and gas.
With cables.
And gas.
And gas.
Yeah.
Well, you could see them leech the gas out of the truck.
I know because nobody else would have done that before.
Exactly.
They would have been still sitting there complete with full tanks of gas and why not?
Because what's her face has been driving around, driving that military vehicle around on other people's gas.
Without that gas.
And they still haven't really addressed that.
It's never run out of gas.
It's still been cruising for what three episodes now?
Yeah.
Three episodes.
It's been rolling around.
You know, she was all worried about the tapes.
And she got all the tapes.
I was wondering because when the lock broke off in the fight scene in the small struggle between Nick and Morgan,
I was wondering what the heck is in that little safe.
Yeah, they made a point of showing us the lock breaking.
And then she was like, oh, crap.
And then she opened.
Okay, I missed that one.
How did the lock break?
It was during the fight.
It was during the fight between Nick.
I think it was the hammer when they were knocking around stuff struggling.
I think the hammer fell down on the lock.
I would ask for my money back on that lock then.
because not a very effective lock, is it?
Oops, I dropped a hair.
Oh, it broke the lock.
Well, I think it ripped off from the...
No, because the hasp was still there.
When I saw it, she opened, like, the hasp.
Yeah, the lock wasn't on it after the lock broke.
Right.
But did the lock break or did the holder break?
I...
It could have been the hinge.
Either way.
Either way, I'd want my money back on.
But when she opened it, you see all these boxes with tapes,
and then she starts opening them, and she's checking the tapes.
No, I know that, but we're not.
We're not there yet.
We're talking about the lock, son.
Well, you said move on.
No further question, John.
And then it made a specific point to show out the bog.
The bog.
That's going to play a role coming up soon.
By one get.
By one get death?
I guess.
Because else is bog.
First off, she just, I think that it was five.
Blog or vlog or.
No, I think it's the people, right?
It's people living in the bog.
What bog?
What bog?
In Louisiana, right?
That's where, in Texas,
they were,
that was between those two states
that Morgan ran through there, right?
To where she was coming from.
Okay.
Oh.
So that was like, okay,
so there's just,
okay, maybe I didn't even think about that.
I mean, I don't know.
I think she had five in.
But one thing,
when she was pulling them out,
I think she had five in there.
She didn't,
you didn't really.
Are you part of this or not?
I mean,
I swear I try to keep up with a facts
and they keep confusing me.
So when she was,
She was pulling out all the tape boxes.
I think there was five.
She was just looking at the tapes checking.
Oh, and you're like, dang, she has recorded a lot.
But it made a specific point to actually, like, focus on the one that said the bog.
Right.
Right.
But we just don't know what the bog means.
But in Louisiana, they're called swamps.
They're not bogs.
Okay, well, then, you know, who knows?
Maybe it's from Canada.
I don't know.
I'm just guessing that these are some kind of people.
It's the best mystery so far.
I just assumed it was a play on the word vlog or blog.
really that's that's what I that's why I said but you might be right it could be a
place as a writer I would think you'd have a deeper intellect than that well I mean
that makes sense so you that's a play on the word vlog you know when we when we see
writers when they go through this process many a times you know they'll pick a
word right to make you go down another right you know you know you know line of
thought but they're really directing you in another way you know did you just do that
to me I feel like you just did that there see what I did there amazing it's a
trick you know what I mean
these aren't the draw what you're looking for
and that was the beginning where they all were in the small
little lineup with zip ties and then the whole deal was made
by the way I've never seen a zip tie cut quite that easily
have you ever even with the sharpest knife you still have to get put a little
oomph behind your zip and those went just saying well after a while
these aren't like brand new zip ties right from the zip
factory. Sure. I'm with you.
And then this is a number
of years. Then we have the
conversation between Nick
and Morgan.
Well, yeah, I mean, look, Morgan's
trying, Morgan's trying to be the good guy
and he knows. I'm talking about, no, I'm talking about in the
beginning where he's by
the truck and then he's like, go get
your food yourself and then he's like, aren't you afraid
I've got to, and then he just does the stick. Yeah, well, that
was a promo for a while. Yeah. We all saw that.
But it was still amazing. It was still amazing. And you know, being
as usual, the best scene.
Yes.
They showed the best scene in the promo.
Right?
Yeah, I know.
All right, so then we're, go ahead.
I was just going to agree with you, Brad.
All the best scenes either have to do with Morgan,
sorry, Bob, or all the new characters.
And you know, I read something that talked about the possible future relationship between Bob and Nick.
There was a lot to teach Nick.
And Morgan could have.
And he could have done it.
And he gave him the book on peace.
which was given to Morgan by the doctor
who we mentioned in this episode.
Right.
So which again, what a brilliant plotline
that would have been going down the road, but done.
Every time, every time.
I know.
Remember the island where they stopped with the family
and they were there for what a day?
And they decided to leave and there was nothing else
and the family ended up killing themselves.
Well, that's what I thought.
I thought that he was actually looking for drugs in the truck
when he started doing through and found the camera.
Right.
He probably was.
Right.
And then found the camera.
But it was just fascinating to me that that's a really good storyline.
And I thought that's where they were going to be.
It would have been.
Until the end when, yes, here's a spoiler alert if you haven't seen the episode.
Why would they be listening if they hadn't?
Nick's dead.
Because why watch it if you listen to this show?
Well, before we talk about that one.
We suffer.
We suffer through the episodes for you.
Even both broadcasts.
So just even before nothing, we're telling people how much we're due for them.
So I just want to say before we get to you.
You're welcome.
Yeah, you're welcome.
But before we talk about Nick's death, what about circus boys' death?
Well, we talked a little bit about that.
We don't know why he was so mad to kill him, why he was so hell-bent on killing him.
I'm talking to how he died, the way the fight in the little tube and then the way he got impaled by the antler.
Is that what that was?
Yes, it was a name or?
Okay.
I got you.
I thought it was a pitch for it.
I did two at first.
Oh, dear antlers.
but either way
right
still causes death
I just thought that
and not to like beat a dead horse
but that just seen
that was like the worst fight scene
the one the one swing that circus boy took
was like
it didn't even
it was kind of like the
what was it when Jadis was swinging
on Negan it was like the fake swing
he just
he didn't even come close
I don't know
although that when
Edith grabbed the
grabbed the glass
jar and then slammed it against Nick's face.
That was, that, that looked like it hurt.
How do you remember their names?
Edith?
I can.
I can.
I've done it before.
He's attention.
Oh.
That's what I pay him for.
Oh.
That paying attention thing.
That's what I pay him for.
Gotcha.
I mean, you guys, I don't know how much I pay you.
Right.
Okay.
Now, Nick's step.
Trust me, I'm not paying him much.
Right.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
So then at the end, I was really surprised that we hear the gunshot Nick.
He pleasantly surprised.
Right.
I liked him.
Shut up.
I did like him.
He was, I could, I was on the fence either way.
But if you were going to keep a character, I would have rather kept him and lost mom.
Mm-hmm.
Or sister or girlfriend, who I think may have been a man in previous life.
She was, she didn't look like a man.
Who's girlfriend?
Nick.
Next.
There was some scenes
I was like, I think she used to be a dude
Oh my God, you're fired
Brad will not be here for next week's
episode of talking like that
And then of course
You guys are going to fight he sure is going to be here
But I have to admit
When Nick's death scene
It was actually pretty emotional honestly
Even though I didn't know the character that well
Did you cry? No, I did not
Did you cry?
He welled up.
He cried, didn't he?
No, I did not.
You were right next to me.
He cried.
Maximus pride when Nick died.
It doesn't make you any less.
This is a safe space.
No one's going to make money.
Of course, I know.
I've said I did tear up just a teeny bit during Carl's death.
During Carl's death.
I've admitted this.
I've admitted.
I've teared up a little bit during Carl's death.
No, it was emotional that I was very happy.
that I was and I got even happier when I was like hey maybe he's so excited because this guy killed his mom
so maybe we got two knocked on the show yeah that's a really good call I don't think that's
gonna happen but hey although they might be there's a chance there is a chance and they might be
you know creating look when you go through the junk drawer you got to throw some stuff away that's true
yeah and you got to make a decision what look at this is all the stuff I had the stuff up front is the
stuff that's the stuff you've been using, you know,
within the last six months.
Yep.
Right.
So you start going through and you go, well, you know, the stuff in the bag.
Yeah.
It's probably better than the stuff in the front.
You start throwing stuff out.
But don't throw away John Dory's candy because
that's funny.
I love his, I love his candy.
The whole character is awesome.
John Dory is awesome.
What happened to his gun?
What do you mean?
He had it.
He didn't have it. His holster was empty.
That was like the first thing I looked for when he took the rifle and was set for.
But he had it.
I don't know.
Because he had time he had it.
When he was running out of the...
There was a promo, at least a picture.
Or at one time I saw where he didn't have his gun
because the holster was up front.
Is that the one you're talking about?
Yeah.
But then I looked again when he was out, when they were out,
and he had it off to the side.
Oh, did he?
So it might have been either just a production block.
Screw up.
Yeah.
Or, I mean, I don't know, because I saw what you saw.
It was really weird to me.
When they were first walking away.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was like, oh, come on, man.
That's what makes him kind of cool.
I was trying to remember, did he give,
did he lose it to that one guy and never get it back?
Because he was looking for the other one, right?
He only had one.
He was looking for the other one.
So, I mean, I don't know.
It was really, that was a strange.
I think it was just a production school.
Yeah, I hope so.
Because that's like, you know,
in writing terminology, that's his MacGuffin.
That's, you know.
I can't wait to.
His plot line, you know, for.
I want to tell you what we used to.
One thing about John Guffin.
I want to find.
I do want to find out a little more about him.
I do.
Yes, he's a good character.
Now, we go through our group text as we start the broadcast last night.
And as Brad has already used his line, now maybe I could go wash.
Oh, here we go.
We've got to start back up here.
Do I wash my hair or watch fear?
Crap.
I don't have any hair.
That could be either one of you, actually.
Then we move on to, oh, Jason is reminding us how good-looking Nick's girlfriend is.
Right?
The one who used to be a man.
Oh, my gosh.
How old.
No.
That baffles me.
One second.
Let me fire up my way back machine.
That wouldn't have cracked the radiator on that thing.
Oh, the crash with the truck.
Oh, yeah.
But the radiator didn't.
crack right or did it just look like it did?
Well, it was like steaming, so that's what it.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I mean, they just pulled it out and we're good to go.
That's the go-to thing when you crash a car on TV.
Right, the smoke in the radio.
Yeah.
But if it didn't crack, that's not a thing where you can just pull it back up to the street and
go.
No.
No.
I mean, it's like screwed.
Yeah, exactly.
Which would leak right out because of the cracked radio.
I traveled across the country with a crack radio.
You have to use a lot of water.
We've known that about you for years.
We put in two.
I don't even want to go into this.
I just want you to know that I replaced several things on my automobile
that wasn't the cracked radiator when it was the cracked radiator.
I made it all the way across the country.
Okay, so then we talk about Nick looking for drugs,
and, hey, I'll unite him and expect him not to get away with this big-ass bullet hole.
I don't remember that one.
Yeah, he untied Nick, and then he walked up to the top of the hill.
Oh, the bull.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, we forgot to talk about Morgan's little, the bullhole in his leg.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, he's healing up and trying to get better, right?
But it was strange that he was, why he would go up on the top of the end?
I don't know either.
Why couldn't he practice his stick down there at the bottom?
Because then he wouldn't have been able to see the El Camino coming.
Right.
Right.
But he couldn't catch a walker before because of that dang leg.
Right.
But now he's like, yeah, I'll just let you go.
He's like, stay right there.
Right.
As if you're going to do anything about it.
I'll throw my stick at you.
While I walk 100 yards in the opposite direction, make sure you stay there because I'll come get...
Shut up.
Yeah.
I did love that the circus boy takes his bike everywhere, though, before he died.
I mean, he's still driving right in Alamedo.
He still got a slow bike.
Yeah.
Well, you don't want to leave your bike.
That's his tool of the trade, so he didn't want to leave that just anywhere.
We're still trying to figure out why Nick hated him.
We still don't know the answer to that.
I think we hit it, though.
I think he killed Madison.
I hope so, but you really think that they pull that trigger?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Because they're going to be...
I'd be surprised.
And remember, Nick is still going to be...
in the show the rest of the season in flashbacks.
Flashbacks, yeah.
And so she, it's going to be at the end of the season we find out she's.
Or the mid-season.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
The end of, yes.
End of halfway.
Didn't get here.
So, okay, great.
Let's see.
Jason, weird how they're not explaining that.
So from a writer's perspective.
Do I actually put that in a text?
Yes.
Were you drunk last night?
Every Sunday night.
Please tell me Madison is dead.
Wow.
Madison and Nick, yes, Brad.
No way.
Oh, they're replacing all the crappy characters?
I like Sha.
I like Shaq.
He's cool.
Who?
Madison has gone, too.
This might turn into a good show.
They're getting dangerously close, so they start knocking off these guys.
I know.
Oh, Strand.
Strand, yep.
Who's Shaq?
Strand is still good.
Yeah.
I keep him on.
sure. Well, he's gay, so they can't kill him.
Right.
Can't wait until they killed Jesus. It's going to be funny.
But that's why... That's the walking dead.
I know, but still.
But in that same rationale, she's...
Okay. She's the female leader.
You're going to kill the female leader?
I know. She was the mom. I don't know.
Oh, it'll get some press.
Maybe Althea will take over.
It's that damn patriarchy.
Mm-hmm.
Coming down and...
Well, you're right.
But what's her face could take over, right?
The truck driver.
Al?
Al. Al could take over.
I did I know her name
I said Althea
or a little Miss hotness
Luciana maybe
yeah as a former man
she would be qualified
this is amazing
listen before
look at
I want to see the fight right now
between these two
but I don't want to put it on any kind of recording
so I'm going to let it go
and we'll tell you how it turned out
in the hallway
thanks for listening to
thanks for listening to Fear
go ahead fight
fight
fight
Ha ha ha ha.
