Season 8, episode 13 of the Walking Dead title, Do Not Send Us Astray.
Hello.
Jeff Fisher here.
Joining me for this week's episode, Brad Staggs, Jason Butchrell, and Maximus Fisher.
And that makes this talking Walking Dead.
Last night's episode, first five or ten minutes, tremendous.
Oh, yeah.
They were awesome.
There were a lot of things that happened during the episode.
episode that the full episode that were I don't know to use a nice word dumb yeah the the brilliant
first five 10 minutes were counter balanced by the sucky last five or 10 minutes not at all
what I expected excuse me for what happened towards the end yeah not at all what I expected yeah that's
not what I expected either I remember I texted you to I was like I was like this might be one of the
greatest episodes of all time I know it was awesome because it had a horror feel it felt like it felt like a lot of
people were using this and I kind of agree a night of the living dead feel yeah you mean like
the original zombie movie yes yes I like that it did but you know by the way there is no such word
a zombie in their world yes I know that I was just making sure you did I was just I was testing
I you talking down to him I was I think it's accidentally been used once that term on the show
not not in not like them saying it but I think there was an appearance of a comic
that actually said zombies in the show.
Oh, interesting.
So anyway.
Yeah.
I mean, so anyway, I was hoping that Maggie actually had enough bullets to kill Gregory, too,
when she was trying to kill all of them.
Just wipe them out.
And it proved positive that was a huge mistake leaving those people alive.
Especially, what's his name?
Jared.
Jared is the long-haired.
Wait, so I'm confused.
Did they all help, or did some of them leave and some of them say back?
Jared and some other guys left.
He left.
I think Gregory, Gregory, you left with them.
He probably did.
I bet he did.
But you knew his alliances were that way anyway, because he's a scumbag.
And then him trying to weasel Henry, which didn't work on you.
I wish Henry would have put a bullet right between his eyes.
I made a note about that.
Creepy Henry.
I loved him in the beginning when his head is gone.
He was saying I was going to kill everybody.
I was like, I'm in love what this kid.
Creepy.
And then he unlocked the gate.
Creepy, creepy.
Come on, man.
He would not have unlocked the gate.
Come on.
Yeah, why did you have to?
You have a gun for crying out loud.
It's not like it was a brick wall between you and the prisoners.
That chicken wire is not going to keep you from killing whatever you want to kill.
We call that barbed.
But anyway, yeah, I finally found out the long-haired guy's name, the one we all want to die.
His name's Jared.
Yeah.
Yes.
Jared.
I know.
That's what I just said.
Isn't the one in prison?
That's a different Jared.
Oh.
I just got it.
I was testing him again.
Not to be confused with Jerry,
which my boy was in action.
He was in action this episode.
He was giving all these like hand signals,
like go, go, go, go, you know,
and like waving people.
I was like, yeah, you go, Jerry.
Go, Jerry.
It was so good that he ended up digging graves.
Okay, and Darrell, before we skip past it,
did Darrell turn into Go Go Gadget?
He turned into Inspector Gadget.
All of a sudden, he's got the air horn.
Look at the little air horn.
Well, I don't think a motorcycle has that lot of a honk.
It doesn't,
saying I can't imagine how many times they ran into cases of those little
air horns there everywhere but that one scene was dope though and then they made a
machine gun right on his man driving be smart though because you don't want
something on you that's gonna recoil against you you want it mounted to the
motorcycles that made perfect sense yeah well yeah I mean that's why Darrell did it
and then we have but see that's what set this up though because that's when I was
like this is gonna be the greatest episode of all time you got Jerry given like
special ops hand signals
They're springing this trap.
Darrell Ryden.
We have Maggie being actually a really good leader.
Is she?
I mean, people keep saying that.
But I'm like, I don't know.
I still, I'm not really seeing it.
I mean, she's not bad.
She's not Gregory.
But is she the, is she, I mean, if they would have showed her doing all these plans and
is she the one doing this trial that hatched this entire plan, I don't know.
They didn't show it.
So if you just force feed that down our throats and just say it, I'm like,
I guess that makes it so.
I don't really believe in it.
And I like the, at the one point,
I don't want to put it down.
Was it, was it the preview for next week's show?
Or did it happen in this week's episode where the guy told Rick,
I already told Maggie all the plans.
Rick said, tell me.
So like.
That must be next week.
That's,
I don't remember that.
I don't remember.
Maybe that was the preview of next weeks.
But my point, but that leads into.
So Rick's like, yeah, she's in charge, but you tell me.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
You call her.
I know you told her, but how about you tell somebody?
And then we run everything by me first.
She's in charge.
And then we have, right.
Before you tell the little lady.
Then we have Simon and Dwight and the rest of the saviors.
Yeah, that was good.
That was good.
And I like to see, I mean, Dwight is being torn.
He's being torn because he actually saved Tara's life.
Uh-huh.
He didn't shoot her with a poopy arrow, did he?
And no, and he shot her.
Right?
By shooting her with an arrow, he saved her life.
Yes.
So did she take the place?
I think so.
I think she took the place of Rick from the comics in that one part.
So interesting because there has been a photo that's been released of Rick like sitting next to a tree and it looks like he's bleeding.
So I was expecting that to happen in this episode.
Wait a minute.
Sitting next to a tree, not the closing shot of the episode where Carl Dive where he's just sitting up against the tree, right?
Right.
That random weird shot that none of us understood.
Yeah.
Like some people were pointing like little like circular.
Like what they thought.
Yeah, it was like an arrow bolt like in his side.
Hmm.
And I thought that was the scene from the comics where he gets shot.
Yeah, I thought I was thinking about that too, but it looks like Terra's taking that place.
How weird, right?
Like, why, why?
It's a shame, it's a shame really that Tara didn't get a poisoned arrow.
And then there's.
And then there's Tara's talk with Daryl about him.
And they actually mentioned the governor in this episode.
Yeah.
Get that quick, uh, Tara talk.com.
I know.
That was fascinating that they, that she brought back.
I was with the governor.
Yeah.
You know, they're making that point.
Well, it's true.
Oh, yeah.
And then Daryl was like, making that point of her being Miss Badass.
And then, uh, let's not forget where you were.
Mm-hmm.
I know.
And it's, how do you know when you can trust somebody?
That's, that's the big question in that world.
And then Daryl, didn't Daryl say, yeah, you were with them, but you weren't one of them.
I think that was his wording.
That's possible.
You know, Daryl's got it in for Dwight anyway, and you can't blame him.
Oh, and they mentioned Merrill, too.
Yeah, his brother
Darrell did not want to hear any of that.
No.
I know. Wait, so I was confused after
that conversation. So was Tara now
going over towards Dwight?
Yeah. She wants to forgive him now.
So she completely, she doesn't think that was a mistake.
She thinks that he saved us.
Yeah, she blames herself for him going back to the saviors,
which he hasn't gone back to the savior.
Because they were fighting
with her wanting to kill him so bad
and then he saved them
by going back to them that day.
Although at the end of the episode.
woods there yeah yeah and he had to and he made it seem like he was by himself lost and
I can see the wheel spinning in Jason's head right now I know though I think at the end
of the episode they kind of hinted that Tara thinks that she got a poison arrow yeah they
all did yeah they all do but they did well but wouldn't she already have the fever
by this time you would think so everyone else is already and that's okay
zombie out are we at this point now are we at the point of the the zombie night at the
Are we at this point?
Because, come on now.
We just had a war.
And we all pass out with Ambien.
Oh, yes.
Walker's rolling downstairs.
People are getting bit and screaming.
When he fell down the stairs, I was like, that wasn't loud?
I know.
I asked that, too.
I was like, it was an awesome scene.
Don't get me wrong.
But when he fell down the stairs, I was just like,
wouldn't that way?
I had some anti-noise device.
Sleep with white noise on because if I hear a wall go,
think, in my house at night, it wakes me up.
And these guys are, that was amazing.
So we don't have anybody, we've got, we've got,
we've got the ambient sleepers in the house.
We've got nobody guarding the fence or the outworks of the fort
after this battle.
Everybody's just passed out.
The dock is out strolling outside, having a smoke.
Oh, beautiful day.
And then, come on.
And then the first one who turns is Tobin.
Right.
And again, so he's, you know, he's in, he's in,
the medic house, yelling
and screaming with the door open and the other dock
is up. He's not yelling and screaming.
And what was ridiculous, too,
is Maggie had just said right before that.
Like, yeah, we got to stay on our guard. We can't
propel another attack.
We're screwed.
All right, everyone go to sleep.
I'm just thinking
out loud, guys. Don't worry about that.
Enjoy it.
Why would you save a
maybe portion some resources
for perhaps a secondary front.
And then one thing,
one thing I actually noticed,
Maggie had a little bump during this episode.
Yeah, she had a little bump on the...
Did she?
Yeah, while you see her walking around the house
with the candle, remember that scene?
Yep.
If you look, there is a bump.
That's because they just had lunch.
Yeah, I didn't know.
That was just lunch.
I didn't notice at all.
But it makes sense that they're at least trying
to try to start.
It's a little late.
And plus they've been hearing us, you know, complain about it.
Correct.
Last week we had the complained news story about, well, it's only been the same day for three episodes.
Okay, thank you.
The longest day.
Right.
The kid is collecting Social Security.
But we got it.
All right.
We got it.
I tell you, though, I was to go back in time for a second.
I was like kind of pissed off that Rick was like, I was like, oh, this whole big fight.
Rick's again out in the middle of nowhere doing something stupid.
And so I was already getting ready to hate this.
And then all of a sudden, homeboy comes in around the corner just being a total batty.
It was dope.
Rick was awesome.
He was awesome.
Yeah, he was all.
And then he like ditch the AKA and then went with his like machete or whatever.
No, there's like just, and he's dodging all the knives, knives.
I went total fanboy at that point.
I did too.
And then he's about to hit Sadiq.
And then he's about to hit Sadiq.
And then he doesn't.
And they just like stay down.
I'm like, I was.
Yeah.
And then when the lights go on and they start shooting machine guns out the windows and all the save, did you notice how all the saviors were like clustered like this?
Yeah, well, when people are clustered like that, you can't hit them.
Is that what it is?
I forgot about that.
Have you not watched Star Wars?
I forgot about that.
They showed us in Star Wars.
Because they became the suckiest shots out those windows.
Two episodes in a row.
They turned the stormtroopers.
Yeah.
Two episodes in a row.
Could not hit the broadside of a bar.
Every once in a while, every once in a while, you get about three.
30 seconds of everybody dies with a bullet.
Everybody dies with a bullet no matter what.
I don't care if it's a...
It's going invisible dead.
And then you get a hundred group of a hundred all live.
And one thing I actually...
Including the leader who was out in front in the middle.
The guy that started everything.
It's not taking...
There would be like 40 people just aimed in on him.
Right.
And then of course Maggie was pissed that Negan wasn't there.
Maggie was pissed that Negan wasn't there.
It's not going to make her feel better if she kills him.
You know that.
right Max because death is not the answer and I think I'm finally getting my wish
I think Rick and Michelle are over no all that scene was so awkward so great where
they were pulling the boards off yeah oh god here we go say I point out so good
Rick is using his hatchet to pull the board and Michelle walks over to the window
goes yeah she was struggling with it a little yeah she's struggling with it a little
yeah she's yeah she was and he's over there taking one side of it time
You don't know who built each window.
Good grief.
Could have been someone like myself building the one that Rick's trying to think.
We saw Enid for like one scene, but she didn't have it.
She didn't speak.
She looks hot, though.
Yeah, she does.
She's 19, right?
She's legal.
And I like to, I watched a lot of it twice last night.
And in the bedroom scene when Rick comes in to tell them when they're having their little bedside chat,
you know, the rest of the fort is going down with walkers.
Everyone, everyone, they already killed all the walkers already.
The house is clear.
Oh, okay.
The house is clear.
Good.
Thank you.
You know, half the people are dead, but it's okay.
We'll have a little bedside chat here.
But he walks in and it was so.
All of them point their guns.
Yeah, but they pointed them late.
I mean, I watched it the first time I thought, did that really?
It just happened?
And then Max came home last night from his meeting.
I watched it again.
And it happened if you watch it again.
Like Rick walks in and it's like, Rick walks in,
open guns up.
If you were somebody that were going to kill them, they'd already be dead.
I think that was more like when the boss walks in, everyone picks up a phone.
Right?
We were working.
We were screwing up.
They were playing spin the bottle in there.
That's what they were doing.
And they're like, oh, crap, dad just walked in.
Let's pretend like we're doing a job.
No, really?
We're on it.
Right here.
Someone hide the booze.
They go on the trigger.
And then there's, then there's Carol and Morgan.
Yes.
Now, Carol, you know, we thought, we saw,
I think Carol tried to break through a little bit with what's his face before he turned.
And then she was faking it the whole time.
We found out.
What?
What?
He said, was it real?
And he said, no, I was pretending.
That's what she said.
Oh, their relationship.
She was faking it the whole time.
Yeah.
But then again, and that, I felt compelled to write that down because, again, in that world,
why do you want to have a serious relationship?
Why are you doing is begging for heartbreak and disappointment?
And she's already been heartbreak enough, right?
I mean, that's Morgan's deal, right?
He goes in and out.
And I'm glad that I'm glad that.
I'm glad they only snuck in just a little bit of the Morgan's suffering.
Oh, come on that.
Morgan has some pretty good hallucinations.
You know what it is.
You know what it is.
Yeah, we do.
It's called I'm going to fear and make a lot of money.
I'll be in Austin if you need.
You have to admit, that was pretty good effects with him with Gavin standing there with the white shirt,
the blood coming down from his neck.
I thought that was at least a good shot.
Yeah, I mean, it's okay.
And I know that Morgan is struggling, but I'm over it.
Well, he comes back as Bob and fear.
I tell you what?
Maybe that supports Jeffie's theory.
He's going insane.
He's going to have like a different personality to become Bob.
I can't wait.
Jeffie was right all along.
You're welcome.
I'll eat my words.
Oh, by the,
dang, quick trivia.
Henry?
The Schwami, Jeffie.
The Henry, do you know who Henry is played by, by the way?
Yes, anybody.
He is the little brother of the actress who played Sophia, isn't he?
Yep.
Oh, yeah.
Didn't you tell us that one?
Yes, you did.
I did not.
I did not.
Rewind the tapes.
We'll find out.
I did not.
We would like to rewind the tape, but there is no such thing as tape anymore, grandpa.
I see a real, the real machine.
Oh, no.
I don't know what that is.
All right, so quick wrap up of this week's episode,
then we'll look ahead because the preview of next week looked pretty good.
I didn't even see it.
Before and plus on top of which I'd like to say,
dear, I wasn't the, we weren't the only one struggling with the two-hour block.
Oh, yeah, we were all like, is it going to be a two-hour episode?
Because I was right when I finally looked at,
because I said originally when we were talking earlier,
Brad and Jason and I were texting that they had the two-hour block.
But the replay of Walking Dead that they always air right after talking.
I mean, right after the other show that airs after Walking Dead.
was only an hour.
So it was too strange.
So all they did was just set up the block
as that special with the first hour of terror.
Why do that to us?
To tease you?
Kiss me off about it.
People were pissed.
I've read comments and everything.
People were upset.
On top of which,
on top of what they were also pissed
that they aired the first 30 minutes of terror.
It was like the first 20, 25 minutes without commercials.
And it was, oh, we can do that.
We can do that for bad shows.
We're going to suck you right in.
Because they had no commercials, and they made you wait for the,
they played the preview of next week as the first break.
So it was like, come on now, AMC.
What are you doing?
They're geniuses.
The fear commercial was really good.
It actually was.
For Morgan, it was really good.
What did they show on the preview?
Did they play that in?
They're running from some dead people.
I went to bed.
So what did it show?
Nothing's going on.
They're running from dead people.
Don't worry about it.
And living people.
That's what's going to happen.
Lenny and Rick get together.
Let's do this.
I mean, Morgan is still a Lenny.
It's Lenny James.
Morgan is.
I was like Lenny.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What he called last night?
We're like, Lenny, what up?
So, yeah.
So Bob, when you're his Bob.
So anyway, yeah, we...
I hope they're paying Lenny out a lot of money.
I sure do for the whole few things.
Because he will save the show this season.
He will save it.
But anyway, so we have Rick and Morgan working together again.
Right.
And the last part.
Oh, my gosh.
The last part was amazing.
We see a gate open.
We see the crate open, like, from the junkyard.
And then we see Jadis walk in holding Lucille over her shoulder.
Oh, crap.
And then it's better.
And then it pans down, seeing, seeing Negan only in a t-shirt and his jeans tied up on like a dolly, like on a dolly.
She's just dragging him out
Holy crap
Now I gotta go on the internet right now
I can go look at that
It was awesome
It was awesome
I want
But here's like
Lucille was in the shadows
So we still don't know
What she looks like after the whole burning thing
Chris Peter
She's gonna look good
Yeah
Oh you know what though
That means that
Okay that's why they caught it on fire
Because it burned all the goo off
So that's
If she does hit him with it
That's gonna be the answer
To why he doesn't turn
Right
I love how we're sciencing this.
That's what it is.
But yeah, that was a science.
I did see some people start saying about,
oh, I see you can drink water from a well,
from a walker well and not turn.
But or you can rub goo all over yourself and not turn.
Whoops, I got some of my mouth.
Come on.
It's just, it's a hard sell.
But not really when you think about it.
If you think about the item going in you with goo,
then it's in your bloodstream.
Are we talking about the,
walking dead still?
I hate to lay dead audio.
Wow.
Right in front of the kid, too.
Oh, we're still talking about walking dead?
Different show.
This is the other show.
We're doing that one later.
After dark.
Yeah.
So anyway.
Yeah, no, that's it.
We're done.
Yeah.
We'll see you next week.
