Welcome to Talking Fear.
Yes, Jeff Fisher, along with Jason Butchrill, talking a little fear, the Walking Dead.
Thankfully, we will hear that music next week, for real.
Thank God.
The most important thing about the episode or episodes this week, this past week,
was that Walking Dead is up this week.
Yay.
Yay.
Was that two episodes or just one long one?
No, two episodes.
Okay.
Yeah, two episodes because they ended it.
I mean, we lost another one that we were kind of like, and I guess, you know,
I thought Troy would be gone before, but.
I wouldn't expect in that episode.
He was actually somewhat kind of interesting.
I know.
Well, that's why we had to get rid of him.
That's why we had to get rid of him, my friend.
Fear seems like they're kind of following the,
Walking Dead Playbook where they're keeping their main core kind of small and, you know,
kind of teasing you a little bit with the side characters and killing them off and hoping that,
you know, that's going to, you know, keep you, I don't know, in suspense, which is stupid
because yesterday was probably one of the most action-packed episodes that we've seen in a while.
Both of them.
Can't complain over that.
One of the episodes did have some action in it, no question.
Non-stop.
And we brought it in the new character.
Right, the new ruler.
Oh, the Proctor, John guy, whatever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Another Sons of Anarchy actor.
Another one.
Yeah, the Sons of Anarchy, and he was in Deadwood or whatever, right?
Or whatever it was.
That's right.
All they get these actors all from the same shows.
Yeah.
Like those two shows.
I saw she, what's her face, was talking about it on Talking Dead last night.
The mother, what's her name?
Madison.
Yeah, Madison.
How could you sit through talking about?
Hey, I didn't.
Okay, it was on.
It was on.
I didn't change the channel.
And I was doing a few things running around before I went into, well, I don't know if I want to tell you what I'm doing now.
But I'm in the middle of two shows on Netflix.
And one of them is not, well, I'm in the middle of one show on Netflix called Manhunt, which is I love.
And then I'm in the middle of another show called The Game of Thrones.
Oh.
And I have, I burned through all the episodes, all seven seasons.
Yeah, I mean, I binge them for about two weeks.
That's all I watched.
I mean, my kids, my daughter is like, God, God, God, Dad's watching God.
Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are my one and two seats.
And she, you know, she'd come in and I'd just be burning through other episodes and she was like,
can we can you pause it lord snow and so i watched that and so my wife has decided now
that she wanted to watch it oh bonus so right so she's going through game of thrones i'm watching
them again it's been great it has been great to see some of the episodes again because i i'm able
to walk by and go oh yeah that's remember that and then i i go do whatever i'm going to do it and then
i come back because i know it's coming up and i get to watch those great scenes again all over
again.
Tremendous.
I wish I could,
I wish my wife would watch
Game of Thrones with me.
She will not because she's like,
there's too much nudity in this
or why'd they have to do that?
And so I'm like,
ah, forget it.
Dude,
I don't know if there's a word for that.
It's called,
it's two words,
get out.
I mean,
it's easily,
you can make it one word,
you can make it to a harm
or you can separate them,
you can just go get out.
You'll make it two?
I can just make it one.
Get out.
See, I didn't even have to say it.
She just walked out.
But anyway, whatever.
She won't watch Walking Dead with me either, which is kind of strange.
Yeah, there's a lot of nudity in that too, huh?
Oh, wait, no.
It's not that, yeah.
I think she doesn't like the genre.
She just doesn't like the zombie stuff.
But I love it, man.
I watch every single zombie show.
Thrones is more than just zombie stuff.
I mean, it's getting into the, you know, winter is coming and all that.
But winter is coming is really more than just the White Walkers.
Well, it's just such a good story.
It's written so well.
I mean, that's what makes these shows.
And Walking Dead, it's not even that it's a zombie flick or, you know, a show.
It's just written so well.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it.
I cannot, I mean.
It's written so well that you remember, just for example, last season.
Remember when they had Daryl and he was with Negan?
And there was like this like picture of like a Morse code picture in the background.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And everybody thought it was some special thing.
He was blinking it.
He was blinking.
And I was like, you know what?
This writing is so good.
That dang might well bet.
Yes, it could have been.
The answer.
Absolutely.
So it has me looking.
And you had to go back and look.
I did.
I mean, you had to.
Everyone did.
Yep.
Because it was believable.
But do you expect that from fear?
No.
No, you do not.
No, you do not.
And at least the new guy, what's his name?
Proctor John.
At least he had the question that needs to be answered about the entire series last night.
What fresh hell is this?
What fresh hell is this?
What fresh hell is this, gentlemen?
I believe that sums up the question for the series.
What fresh hell is this?
When they're on top of the dam, when they're on the dam before it explodes.
Very, very astute.
Yeah.
Sums it up.
I mean, it's a fast back recovery surgery, first of all.
No kidding.
Tremendous.
They cut a tumor out.
They didn't even put him under.
Tremendous.
He just gets up and walks off.
Time to go.
Like, what?
Is it tough son of a guy?
Oh, come on.
Yeah, that was a little bit ridiculous.
But, yes, I think I would have preferred to see him more in a wheelchair longer before they did that.
Yeah.
It was really weird.
How they...
Just, yeah, just kind of stupid.
But whatever, I...
This is, I can't really complain about last night's episodes too much because it was nonstop action.
You got a little bit of Walker, you know, action, not a whole lot, but a little bit.
actually no they didn't have too much
Walker actually no we didn't get a lot
we didn't get a lot of walkers
we got we got to fight with the proctor people
right and we got fighting amongst ourselves
we got to fight amongst ourselves
but the entire time
this is the thing I didn't give a crap
if any of them died like they were trying to set up
this like oh you know what's gonna happen
and I was like well I kind of like watching it happen
but I don't really care if it does right
you know what I mean like the whole standoff
Like imagine if that would have been Rick and Carl and then everybody else up there.
We'd have been like sweating bullets.
Be like, no, who are they going to kill?
They're not going to kill these guys, are they?
Not this week.
And we just didn't care.
Just somebody go down.
Like in the end when Madison's all getting sucked down.
I'm like, go, go, go.
In fact, the only guy I actually cared about was when Daniel got shot.
when he and what's his face are fighting
I remember his stupid name Stanton
Strand Strand
When he and Strand are fighting
And the gun went off
I was like no way they can't
No way that kills him
No way
Because I would have been pissed
Yeah
There's no way they
I mean we already lost him once
And they had to they brought him back
No way they're going to kill him twice
We got to say some pretty good action
From old Salazar later
I remember he went all kung fu fighting
When he's all
I know
You know, elbow to the face and then needed a gut and then shoot.
I liked him too when he sat down.
He was actually pretty good.
And we thought there was going to be some harm when he was talking with,
when he was talking with my man, Nick.
He had Nick down it when he had Nick to interrogate.
Yeah.
I thought that was just kind of ridiculous.
I think Daniel would have done more, right?
Daniel would have done more.
Yeah.
I always felt like Daniel would have at least throwing him up against the wall or something, you know.
Yeah, no, I agree.
He went very easy on him, especially like that was his,
That was his specialty, wasn't it?
Like, Coercise, like getting a confession.
So all he did was just look at him and go, no, bro.
Seriously, bro.
I know you're lying.
No, you're lying.
He's like, come on.
And so Nick gets mad and doesn't break when he's telling him the story.
He goes, oh, okay, you're telling me the truth.
But I didn't buy the whole thing.
Because why is he, why was he so suspicious?
He's like, that herd didn't come out of nowhere.
It happens all the time in these things, all the time.
They apparently haven't watched the Walking Dead show at all.
Dude.
Do you not seen Walking Dead?
They come out and come all the time.
Where have you been?
Geez.
Okay, but you know, like, I was like,
I was like, why is he so suspicious?
It's so funny.
Come on.
Maybe not because they've hardly seen any walkers and fear the walking dead.
They don't come out of here in the damn.
So maybe they are that ignorant as far as how the.
apocalypse goes.
It's possible.
But, yeah, I mean, they've probably seen, what, 10, 12 zombies, the entire.
So now, actually, in a couple of years, Daniel, go, you know, that herd could have come out
of nowhere.
Yeah, he'll be like, he'll be like, you know, think him back on that, that interrogation
was kind of dumb because we've been rolled up on by like 40 herds.
Those suckers come out of nowhere.
So, but we know that Madison lived.
You know, she washed up on shore and saw.
the little Spanish girl.
Is there any chance at all that anyone died there?
I don't think so.
No way.
Besides a few random Proctors.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And, Jeffie, I think your theory on, now I'm starting to change, because you said
your theory was Abe as the crossover character, I'm starting to kind of believe you
were correct.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because of the line that Proctor said that they were leaving to Houston.
Yeah, going to Texas.
I was like, oh, crumb.
Jeffie was right.
Thank you.
I thought about that when he mentioned here's the two creating that whole line of success.
Yes.
Yep.
Yeah, setting it up, the whole thing.
And that's very possible because then Abe could meet them and do all that part.
And then head to Dallas and you'd see him picking up what's her face.
So you have two crossovers.
Yeah.
Right?
In one episode because he could pick up like he said he did, the one girl that was with him and then take off.
Right.
Where you know that they were going up to meet up with Rick.
Yeah.
I can't remember who was with him.
Anyway, someone was, one of the girls was with it.
Rosita.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And she's still big.
So, I mean, that's a huge crossover, right?
Yeah.
Whether it's alive and one that's dead,
I tell you what?
You're welcome.
I was, my mind was going, because I thought they were, they might actually reveal something during this finale.
Because I was like, so, like, Strand said at one point, he goes, these guys are,
make the cartels, like, you know, like little girls or whatever.
And I was like, dang, they are really talking this group up.
And I was like, watch Negan be one of the lieutenants or something like that.
He already wears kind of like a biker jacket.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know what I mean?
That would have been a good one.
And that would have broke away from the comic books.
Oh, would it?
Right?
The comic books, he was a teacher or something before it went down, right?
I'm going by what the expert Maximus Fisher sells.
Where is he a teacher at, though?
Do we know?
No, we don't.
I guess that's still possible, though.
He's sure.
It could be, I guess.
No, I don't know.
Yeah, because he was a baseball coach and stuff.
That's why he had the bat.
Oh, okay.
Eh, that's probably not going to happen then.
But I'm starting to think.
Anyway, that's a good call, though.
I'm sorry, but I was half expecting it.
I wasn't even thinking about that angle, but I was like, dang, because this is the way
they were talking it up.
Yeah.
And then when he said Houston, I was like, ah, shoot.
We're going to text.
Yeah.
Thank you.
So, so that makes me think then that, like, Nick and Daniel, probably both, are going to get
recaptured.
They're going to get taken with them, I guess, to,
Dallas, I'm sorry, Houston, and Madison and the gang is going to follow them and try and set them free.
They can't be together, right? And we have the daughter. You don't know what happened to her.
And he really likes her. That's right. He might have, yeah.
The only reason that he got rid of her is because he wanted, because he was going to have to kill the mom and the brother.
And he knew that she wouldn't be loyal. I think you're right again. Yeah, because he wouldn't,
he would just kill Nick and Daniel to solve him. But she, he wouldn't, I don't think he would kill her.
No way. He loves her. I mean, I don't necessarily mean love as in as an adorable love. I mean, as love is that she treated him right from the beginning and helped save his life.
Yeah.
During that surgery. I mean, he, he owes her.
So, Dan, oh, but you, so you can't have, can you, can we have Daniel and Strand in the same room again at all?
I don't know. And actually be believable? I don't know.
So, one of them's got to die if they meet again.
Right. Right.
So.
Right.
when less Dan, unless Strand gets down on his knees and begs for forgiveness and says it was all,
I was trying to save you.
And because of me, because of me, you're still alive now.
That ain't going to fly.
You saw, remember when he saw the, uh, that chick that was, you know, that was the leader of the Dan group?
If I'm Strand, that's what I'm trying to sell.
I'll tell you that.
It's because of me, you got to be put down into that drainage pipe, into that sewer pipe,
it's still alive.
Yeah, I just don't think that's going to fly.
I don't know. That's interesting.
I don't know.
It seems to be, to me,
that they're going to all head towards Texas now.
That's just what it seems like.
Yeah, because it's going to be,
they can still be in Mexico,
shoot in cheap Mexico,
or shoot in Arizona,
wherever that's cheapest to shoot.
Because Texas doesn't have any special tax deals, right?
So they're not officially going to be in,
I mean,
what I'm talking about is we know that fear,
is cheap, right?
And they don't want to spend any money.
And what money they do spend,
they spend on other stuff rather than where they're at,
which is why they went to Mexico instead of L.A. to shoot.
So we know they can say they're in Texas
and still be in New Mexico, Arizona, or Mexico
to shoot the show.
Yeah.
So, yeah, that's what they'll do.
I was surprised on the amount of money they actually spent on this episode.
This is so was big.
They had explosions.
They had CGI on the dance.
That was an expensive episode.
Yeah.
That was impressive.
And they had flashbacks of her, not flashbacks, but dreams of her with the Christmas.
Oh, yeah.
With the Christmas dinner and stuff.
I didn't like that.
I was like whatever.
I didn't like that either.
But you know why I didn't like that?
Because I don't like her.
That's very true.
It's amazing.
I'm sorry.
I really am sorry because I want to like her.
I do.
I didn't even shut the channel off when she was on Talking Dead last night after the show.
I left it on for a short period of time.
It's amazing the lack of interest in the main character.
I really have none.
None.
None.
Daniel.
The Nick Troy thing was kind of interesting.
And I really did think that when Troy was, uh, when, uh, Troy was, uh, when, uh, Troy was, uh,
looking for maybe a threesome with him and Nick and the mom when they were putting the
when they were putting the explosives up or when he put his hand on her hand yeah yeah
I didn't know who he wanted more mom or the son you would be thinking that way I'm just saying
that's I just that's what I saw I was thinking like it was going to go off beforehand or
something like that and you're hearing Barry White yeah I am here in Barry White
There's no question about that.
I definitely was hearing Mary White.
And then I loved it.
And we go back to a little bit of the surgery because,
I didn't know,
I mean,
oh,
let's go,
we even skip the first episode or the first half of the last two seasons.
Because the beginning,
Nick is cutting heads off of the walkers.
There's where we did see the walkers,
right,
when he was cutting the heads off the walkers.
That was the only appearance, right?
Yeah.
Walkers.
See, another fail of this show.
Yeah.
I,
They're just not a part of the world
They're not scary
I don't know
The main part of the show
And they very rarely
Put them as such
Right and they can't figure it out when a herd comes
Right
Where do they come from
Oh come on
That doesn't happen
They just don't
These herds don't just show up out of nowhere
Shut up
Stick to
Whatever you do
Yeah.
Interrogations.
Well, except for that anomaly.
All right.
So look, if you haven't seen the episodes and you're all caught up, watch them.
If you're not all caught up, don't worry about it because next Monday we're going to be here and we're going to be talking about the real walking dead.
I'm so pumped up.
I am so psyched for season eight to start.
I cannot tell you.
And I've been watching all the stupid preview videos.
and everything else I can get my hands on,
and I'm ready for the episode.
This year, they keep saying they're not going to disappoint,
which worries me.
They overhype it every year.
I know. I know. That's what worries me.
How many times do you hear Rick in a stupid British accent?
You know, oh.
I wish they wouldn't do that.
I wish they wouldn't do that.
I wish they would, at least when he's talking about the Walking Dead,
he shouldn't at least be in character.
Yeah.
You know, when they're, I know they're trying to behave.
I'm just me sitting here telling you about my part,
but that really pisses me off for some reason.
I don't know why.
It's okay.
I like them.
I'm happy.
You know,
whatever,
I'm sold.
I bought into the character.
I bought into the show.
I got it.
But just when I,
when those people with those damn foreign access.
And they start talking with their foreign access.
It just pisses me off.
Well,
no,
it pisses me off too.
This is an American comic.
It happens in America.
It's a very.
If their character was in their dialect, fine.
Do the soft-spoken-I'm on the couch, out-of-character talk in your dialect.
But those characters are pretending to be Americans and speak English.
So when they talk to us about what's going to happen in the show, they should do that as well, I think.
Dude, dang near half the actors on the show are British.
I know.
Like a Morgan, British.
Rick is.
What's her face?
Garbage pale kid chick.
Yeah.
Horrible hair kit.
Dumb and dumb her haircut girl.
I want Rick to kill her so bad.
I saw a couple of videos of her when she's talking about this season.
And I want Rick.
I'm so pissed she's still alive, I can't tell you.
I want her dead.
Maggie.
She's British?
Yeah, Maggie is British.
Dude, everyone.
You know what ticks me off?
and this is way off subject, but Star Wars,
does the same thing. The original Star Wars
launched some iconic,
you know, American acting careers.
Freaking, uh, Harrison Ford?
Crying out loud? You know,
Carrie Fisher? Like, some big-time
American actors. Now, is there
a single actor in the new Star Wars? It's American?
I don't think so.
Oh, that's probably, I don't know.
They're all British, and they had all these British, like,
cameos. Like, what are you doing?
Wow, do you hate it?
I'm pissed, dude.
Wow, do you hate?
I'm so pissed.
Wow.
Those are the words of Jason Butcher.
I, myself, Jeff Fisher, do not feel that way in any way.
But if you're downloading this podcast or tuning in from somewhere in the UK, I love the UK.
No, first of all, just so we're clear, we weren't bad-mouthing the UK, and I wasn't bad-mouthing other countries.
What I said was, if your character is in the dialect or...
or the accent of your country or where you come from,
then fine.
Talk to us about that episode in that dialect or accent.
But when your character is speaking to us in the shows
as an English-speaking American,
then when you talk to us about your character,
it should be as an English-speaking human being.
Yes.
That doesn't have anything to do with hating your country.
I do not.
I don't hate your country,
but if you're going to be in an iconic American,
can show or movie get the hell out we'll see you next week on talking dead but for now this
wraps up talking fear and again that was jason butchard
