Season 8, episode two, The Damned. Welcome to Talking Walking Dead. We'll get to the recap. I don't know if I feel good about it or not yet, but let's get ourselves in the mood. All right. Yeah. Jason Bucket. Red Stats.

Nothing. It's the best. Is there nothing I've done today that satisfies you? There was that one thing. Don't expect that every damn day. All right, so as I said, Jason Butro, Bradstag, myself, Jeff Fisher, thank you so much, talking Walking Dead,

here on the Blaze Radio Network. Well, episode 102. I dug it. It was good. It was nonstop action. Yes, it was. And was nonstop action. So I now start to, my biggest complaint last episode was I didn't know what the heck the plan was.

So now I guess I know what the plan is. Still not really sure. If I hadn't watched the after show last night, I'm still not sure I wouldn't know. Oh, I didn't even watch the after show. Okay, so correct me if I'm wrong. But this is what I pieced together. So episode one was all about the initial let's get everybody confused and kind of everybody that's at the save your compound lockdown lockdown to where they can't really do anything. Pretty much.

They're all screwed because the Walker hordes off. Right. So episode two was like right after that. So they were going to hit the compounds as per the intelligence given by what's his name? Dwight. Dwight. Yes. So I think, and Brad, you and I were talking about this off the air, I think there was three compounds and three of Rick's groups.

Yeah, I'll see. Look like it, right? There was three or four. The game is four subplots it said, spread out across various groups. You had the king. King and Carol. King, Carol, you had Rick and Rick and Daryl at the... And at the...

Aaron. At the building. Yep. So Rick and Aaron were leading the frontal assault on that compound. Rick and Daryl were using that as a distraction to sneak into the building. Pretty sure. See, well, here... Oh, yeah, yeah, on the backside.

Yeah, where they were fighting the girls and she was all saying, And they're not, they're too much of a pussy. They're not coming in after us. And then she realized they didn't have to come in after us. And then she gets a bit. Then she let herself get bit. Right, right. Sad.

Shepard's office. I think there's actually four. I think Rick and Darrell were at a separate one than Aaron and the rest. Rick and Darrell were in the building that where Darrell was kept. Yes. Yeah. So that's the handcuffs there. Yeah.

That was where, okay. I'm surprised they didn't start humming the music. That's true. But that didn't seem like the same room where he was kept. Yeah, but that's how he got out when he escaped. You went down that hallway. That's right. What was that song?

Oh, gosh. It was the... Highway to hell. Easy Street. There you go. I'm on Easy Street. Had that stuck in my head for him. So quickly they forget.

Right. Yeah, but then there was the Carol and the Morgan teams as well. Right. So there was four different subplots. And we didn't see anything. Okay. Oh, okay. So four subplots, but three comps.

Compounds. Right. Well, there may have been four different... Rick. Carol. Morgan. Mm-hmm. It was three compounds.

Yes. Yes. It was three. That's right. But I get the four subplots because of the Aaron and the frontal assault was like its own little, you know, plot. Right. But it's part of that same compound. Exactly.

It's on the other side. Yes. See how difficult this is? They're not explaining anything. They're just letting the actions do it for the... And they're real happy about the action. too and how much they've shot about it and what they've done with it. I mean, Gimple was on the after show.

Forget the name of that stupid show that's on after the show. And he was, you know, glad-handing everybody for what a great show it was and that full of action and how much it takes to shoot that. You wanted the TV fans, didn't you? How they've done it for, we took us eight days to do the whole thing. We were all working really, really hard. It takes Game of Thrones, you know, 18 years to film something like. Like, Gip will shut up.

Let's see what you got. You know, because he's gone now. I notice they keep dragging him out to the after show. Oh, that's right. But he's actually going to fear. Yeah. To resurrect. You know, just to hell.

To pull it out of the mire. Yeah, to try to pull him out of the mud. And we'll see how good he is now, Mr. Gibb. Bad Mouth and Game of Thrones. We'll see where you're at. It's going to need more than him. They're going to need an actual budget to pull that thing off. Because until they do that, they're just not going to be able to get it done.

Well, so, okay. Okay, wrong show. Yeah, let's get out. How did we get to that? I got to start talking about Giple. I'm sorry. Thanks. I'll just re-wrecked that part of the tape.

Nobody over here that. But that was my issue, though, is that they're not, I would have liked, like, I don't know, like Rick and the gang around a terrain model. You know, that's what we call the military. Oh, yeah. And they're all, like, going over their plans. Then they do it. Because then we'd know. Ironically, that's what they talked about on the after show is that every, when they set up every show, when they, when they lock it.

Yeah, because on the table. Yeah, he said it always starts with these little cars in the, table, which is what they should have done so that we all knew what in the hell they're doing. Right. Essentially, he just said they're trying to get all of the lieutenants to surrender. Well, of course. I mean, look, I understand that. After Grenada.

We do understand that. Thank you. Why are you going to bring up Grenada? I just, you know, I mean. I'm sorry. Bad memories. You know, it was worse than people think when we storm the beaches. I understand.

But we stopped communism in the Western civilization for Grenada. So I'll start with me. And we lost some good men's lives. I understand. I apologize. And Jason, you know as well as I do when you see action, it doesn't go away from you. That's right. Yeah.

So. I wish they just would have done the same thing. And shown us what they were trying to do. Yes, that's true. It would have been nice. It would have been very nice. Yeah. Because it took a while for you to realize, oh.

And Rick pulling a little piece of paper out of his pocket to see, this looks like the door is locked. Nobody's on this floor. Right. Thanks, right. Appreciate it. So. And we found a little. little baby.

Which he's just going to leave. He's just going to leave, but they'll have to take that because that one and his kid are cures. So. Oh, God. Here we go again. You still think. And then that flash forward or flash back or sideways or whatever it was to Judith

when she was, what, nine? It looked like this time. And he looks like he's aged a hundred years. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And Carl was the same age. Yeah. It's weird.

It's like Rick is living a really different. I did that last week because that was my favorite tweet where the guy was like, wait one damn minute. He didn't look how he's paying taxes. So really the whole thing last night was just a bunch of shoot him up. Which I loved. It was great. I loved it. And I will say that apparently in the fallout after warfare, you can adjust your weapons to never run out of ammo.

I know, right? Only all the ammo come from. Only handguns ran out of ammo last night. That's it. And only at the worst possible. possible moment. But we know Morgan doesn't die, which was cool. Yeah. I mean, you knew that was going to happen. Although, was he

faking it? What was he? Did he lay there on purpose? Was he... Yeah, but what, that knocked him out? Yeah, it was shot in his... I thought I thought he caught it in the arm. In his armor? His thing, yeah, his armor. His baseball... His baseball catcher's... Nice

to know that you can now just go down to Academy Sports and buy a cat's chest plate and it's bulletproof. It's a Kevlar. It's a Kevlar. Well, catchers. Yes. So in the apocalypse, that's what you need to do. And then we had the fight between Jesus and Tara.

Terra. And so, and they did the whole thing last night of the, are you team Tara or team Jesus? And I was Team Terra, shooting in the head. Yeah, no kid. That was the same, that was the same location, too, that Rick thought that he took the savers out last season. Yes. It looked exactly. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Same place. I would have shot the dude At that point in the game What do you do? You have to Yes

They've been doing that for what Three seasons now Those aren't the people Yeah we're not the people Who just go in Except for the last time we came here And we kill everybody in their sleep And we also know

You know now seeing the baby And everything We know that in the comic books Rick ends up and I'm a spoiler alert here for you but Rick ends up you know not going to kill people anymore

I can see that that's when he turns and decides he's not going to kill people anymore when he sees the baby no but I mean in the future he decides that he's not going to kill anymore so he's working up to that he's tried that already I know but he's working when he decided to be a farmer he's going to be farmer Rick and not killing

I know and then he was pussy Rick and wasn't going to kill anybody that was some dark days that was some dark days farmer. I was like, oh my gosh. That was better than the dark days of Alexandria, though. Where it was just going to be true. And at least we didn't

have, where was what's her face? Oh, she was back home, right, Michaud she's back home tending the crops. At least we weren't forced to sit through another kiss. Thank God. Good grief. Thank for that. I'll tell you that. That was just so where do we go?

Oh, look at that. Oh, it's a commercial. Oh, it's a commercial. Hey, look, there's Daryl in a commercial for what is it, life insurance or something? I have no idea what that's for. Big baldhead doing everything. We've got to wait until it gets there. That's for DISH network. All the channels on DISH.

Okay. For those of you listening, we're watching a TV commercial. Those of you're listening. We've got a DISH commercial. Oh my God, there's Daryl. Wow. Has Dish Network. Carrie's Walking Dead.

It worked. We got sucked right into it. Oh. Oh, and look Twin Peaks. What I was thinking about, though, when you were talking about how they're having, they've been having that whole, you know, crisis of, you know, morality. Right.

Yeah. Well, so I assume that's still what they were doing. Like they were showing, like Rick was seeing, oh, crap, they're kind of like, many of these people are normal just like we are. They have kids and, you know. Yeah. So we can't just go through hog wild killing a bunch of people. You're going to face that crisis at every turn, I think.

And, but in that case, when you're on an attack, I mean, I'm, what do you do? I mean, you've got to, you got to draw the line. somewhere and the guy in the closet, I don't know. I just, to me, he's collateral damage at that point when you, everybody else is depending on you to clear the building. So that place is, that building was, there's a weapons cache. That's like, somewhere, yeah, there's a cache of weapons somewhere in that building. And that's what Dwight has told them that.

And I think it's where Morgan and those two other guys got killed because remember the guys, when they popped open that door, they all had weapons in it. Yes. So I think that's probably where it was. But that's in a different compound completely. Like Rick and Daryl. See, now I'm confused because are they in a different building than Morgan? Yeah.

Yeah, completely different structures. So, okay. They've made this hard to follow. That's, I know. That was my biggest issue. I didn't draw a diagram. I literally had to pause it last night and I was like, oh, last episode was this and, oh, they're at different locations. Maybe they're in the upside down.

And 11 is actually guarding the weapons. That's what it is. My wife was so pissed at me yesterday because I finished binge watching Stranger Things too. Did you? And that ran all up to the cowboy game. So my butt stayed firmly in my couch. And then that rolled. You had about an hour.

What's that? Cowboy games ended. You had about an hour. The cowboy games ended. So you had about an hour. Which is the same one. Before walking dead. And that's how long it took me to make my nachos.

A successful day was had by Jason. Yeah. Yeah, that's a good day. Uh-huh. That's a very good day. It was dope, man. Sundays are dope now. All right. So a bunch of shoot him up.

I did like the, when she said they don't have to, you know, they don't have to storm us. They're not even trying to storm us. They're just trying to create walkers. She realized they were screwed. So who was the dude at the end? Okay, this is, that's Morales. Do you remember?

Okay, let me read an article on Morales. Just a quick to remind you of what's happening, okay? And I think this is he, they brought him back. when I read this then I'll tell you what my thought is on him Morales wow we 100%

forgot about you existed and that you mattered at all because you know we haven't seen you since the pre-CDC episodes in season one by all reasonable indicators we assume that you are not

very important but I guess you are now good to see you we guess if you don't remember Morales and truly we cannot blame you here's a quick refresher on the man that Rick runs into at the top of the savior

building. He was part of the original camp from season one. The one with Dale and Lori and Shane and Andrea and all those other people who died. At the quarry. And he's there with his wife and kids. He has a minor role to play on the trip to Atlanta where Rick meets Glenn and the rest.

When the group decides to go to the CDC, Morales and his family head for Birmingham instead. Yep. And then, you know, we meet up again in Virginia. So while he was in Birmingham, he meets

whoever, anybody from fear. Yeah. Oh, that's... So they bring him back and he got hooked up with a Negan. Science boy. No, but before they came back, he got hooked up with...

Yeah, Eugene and Redhead. Oh, wow. I still think they're going to bring... I still think those are the two that meet, or at least the redhead, meets the fear. That's where Madison said she moved from. Right.

Right. And so... And so, you know, then they get split up, which is where Morales, we see Morales heading toward. That's the crossover? Wait a minute. So Morales is going to be the crossover? Better not be. I know.

I'm just saying that he's going to be part of it. It's going to be part of it because that's where they're, that's how they get set up. Is that in the comic books? I don't think. Is Max here? Nope. Okay. So I don't know.

So we got nobody that knows. Get them on the phone. Wow. So, man, you need a diagram to get a time. to figure all this out. Well, and yes, you do. And apparently that's why they have, you know, that's why they have writers. In a writer's room.

They need to give us just one picture of the writer's room to show us the board where everything is connected. It would be amazing, though. I am a little disappointed that they didn't actually show us what the plan was. You're right. I agree with you 100%. Yeah, because then we'd at least be able to know. We have an idea of where they, you know, if they had, this is us, and you guys are going

here, here, and here, and we're all going to meet here. after this, but you guys are going to do this and this and this and this. Then we have an idea in our head. Maybe that's the new norm for the shows like this, though, because they know you're going to go back and watch it again and again and again if you don't know. So you'll watch it again and go, okay, they're here.

And maybe they're counting on the viewers to make their own damn diagrams. I got news for it. I got news for you. That's not happening. It does seem a little. It's weird storytelling. It sure is. You know, but I think even still,

bringing back that character. See, I don't even remember his freaking name. I can't, I remember that. I remember them going their separate ways. But see, but yeah, but like, why wouldn't they bring back somebody more relevant? They're all dead. So yeah, everybody else is dead. So why bring back anyone at all that Rick used to know? And I think the reason it is, is because they're trying to humanize the saviors. You know, they're trying to make them

because at this point, none of us care if all of them die or not. No, that's true. We were all for terror. We were all like terror's right. Kill them. Right. Exactly. them all, yes. Yeah. And that's, and Morgan had already put himself in that place. He was, he had already talked himself and worked himself into the place of, I'm going to kill everyone. Yeah.

That's not with me. They're going to die. Yeah. He didn't like being there. He don't want to be there. That's not what he wants. But he put himself there for Rick and our people. So what they did yesterday was they beat us over the head with most of the group is all kill them all mindset.

Mm-hmm. But they, they sprinkled in these. Oh. but they have kids. Right. Oh, they're people that you used to like. But that's the moral dilemma that you face in that situation.

Yeah. Because they can't all be evil. Not every last year. No, they can. And that's, you know, they can't. But right now they are.

Yeah. I would. I mean, right now they are. The people that Negan has in place fighting for his group are the people that believe in him. Yeah.

They're not, yeah. They're not the guy making a coffee mugs. No. and helping the women clean out the kitchen while Negan is putting the iron on the guy's face. Sorry, they're just not. They need to die.

Which is why, yeah, I would be on Team Tara. Shoot them all. You don't have a choice. You're either going to shoot them or are they going to shoot you. Yes, and sadly, Rick is going to side with Jesus. Tara's going to be pissed. I think you're right.

This does not seem like the invincible saviors group that we saw that like did that sprung that trap to catch, you know, Rick. No, it does not. Remember how many of the, They were everywhere. But I will say that it looks as though while we're messing around with all of this, which is why it would have been great to have a diagram of what they were planning on doing,

they led the king to a trap. It looks as like I think the king is being led to the trap. That's where it ended, right? Mr. Smarty Pants, Mr. I must die. Right. Mr. Positive attitude. Take it till you make it. He irritates me every time he talks.

And he's a fan favorite. But yeah, every time I'm like, dude, shut up. And Carol, too. Carol just looks at him like, what are you doing? Oh, yeah, she's playing the parks. He's playing the part. Yeah, I know, but that's the problem. But people, that's worked for him.

People don't work for him at the garden. It's not working out here. It's just not realistic. No one would follow that. It'd be like, oh, God. People follow a whole, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold that. Well, time. Did you just say it's not realistic?

Not at all. Okay, you know we're talking about people who come back from the dead here. No, just saying. Don't try to muddy this up with facts. Okay, right. Whoa, whoa. You're saying the zombie apocalypse is not possible? I'll buy these zombie apocalypse, but I won't buy the hell out of this room.

We don't join. they're always acting their own self-interest, so I'm guessing their own self-interest is... Back at the dump? Back at the dump. Well, I say we burn that thing right out. With the airplane in the background. Yes.

Absolutely, she needs to go. I don't care what happens to her. But I think that we have led, because they made such a big deal out of... No troops will die out of the king. We're free. We're the warriors. They made such a big deal out of that that I think we can...

And as Rick said, No one needs to die except Negan, so we'll go out. We'll kill everyone except Negan. Right. You're a good. We're going to kill everybody. Did you guys notice my boy, Jerry, getting down? Yes.

Finally started wheel of that axe. I'm waiting for that. That was really good, yeah. It pleases him indeed. I got this. And what we didn't see last night is more of Father Gabriel and Negan. Right. We didn't see that.

Which brings us to the interesting theory. The Father Gabriel is been in cahoots with Negan. Oh, I don't think, I don't think Gabriel's not sneaky enough. When Negan came up and said, are you wearing your pooping pants? He didn't say pooping. Well, you know what he said. The family. You know, he is the one that got caught by the trash people.

Yeah, right. And Father Gabriel did not immediately turn around and shoot him. He just looked at him. That's true. So what if Father Gabriel has been the mole instead? And the line wasn't because he was going to kill him. He was just saying, we've got to get out of here. Right.

Yeah. I mean, so I hope you got your pooping pants on. Right. That's not what he said. But that makes kind of sense now. Yeah, it does. But that's still. Why would Father Gabriel be a turncoat?

Why? For the same reason, why would he be saving Gregory? Now that makes sense why he was saving Gregory. Yeah, I guess it does. Yes, it does. Instead of just letting him go. Because he was against us.

That makes sense that he would save a fellow save. If he, I mean, yeah, if he just knew that the bloodshed that was going to come

was just going to be too great. So we thought that he would. We'll say that Negan, Nogne, Nogne, Nogne, he promised him to have his own church. Right.

Yeah. Everything will rebuild everything. You'll have your, we'll all, we'll send everybody to church. Yeah. So he got suckered in by Negan's charm.

That's fascinating thought. It's an interesting point, but we all know Enid is the actual turn code. I don't know. Maybe that's maybe. I was just going there because look, a, I'm right. Let's be clear. You just pissed it. You just pissed it.

It's Father Gabriel and not Enid. And I'll be so mad. But if it's Gabriel, and you know why they made it, Father Gabriel? Because I broke the news on Edid. Right. So they had to cut me off. But it still could be Enid because. our boy needs more than one birdie.

And he's always said, you know, a little, I guess it was just little birdie. A little birdie. A little birdie. It wasn't birdies. It was a little birdie. Yeah. So if it's the preacher man,

then that means Ian is probably not the... See? So is that where we have... Is that what happens next week? Is that the first thing we find? I think that's the first scene next week. Is back in the trailer with Father Gabriel and Egan. Colluding?

Yeah. I think that's where they drop the bomb that they, been colluding and that's when Father Gabriel can tell him what's happening what where they're going next and then the reason he said like I said we got to get it got to get our pants because we've got to climb the top of this thing and get out of here yep I'm yep I'm not ready for that not me either me but that wouldn't surprise me because father Gabriel's a weasel yep huh all right well that just bums me out yeah I don't want to talk you're welcome you're welcome that's it thanks for listening to talk
