Starting point is 00:00:00 With Amex Platinum, you have access to over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide. So your experience before takeoff is a taste of what's to come. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Blaze Radio Network. And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. Apple has thrown away its plus. You know, the Apple TV Plus?
Starting point is 00:00:28 Yeah, they no longer. are going to be called that. They're going to be called Apple TV. So they've dropped the plus from the Apple TV plus. That means the service will have the same name as Apple's smart TV device and associated app. Now, they didn't explain, you know, why they wanted to do it, except that, oh, you know, we're just going to do it.
Starting point is 00:00:50 And this is where we're going to rebrand our identity with a vibrant new one. Okay. So they threw the plus into the trash. that means that this program from now on is going to be called chewing the fat fat five plus i'm taking the apple plus okay it's mine now they can't have it back so welcome to it uh thanks for coming along for the ride today uh this is now uh at least in my mind uh chewing the fat fat five plus okay here's the thing uh you know i know it's been about a week since we've last
Starting point is 00:01:54 chatted. Now I am doing Pat Gray Unleashed every day. And on the Pat Gray Unleashed program, which airs 7 to 9 Eastern on Blaze TV and other platforms, and you can listen to the podcast as well. I do the chewing the fat fat five every day. And so that I'm going to start doing
Starting point is 00:02:16 the fat five plus, which will be this. And it's a different than the chewing the fat program used to be, but you'll still get a little bit of fat every day. Okay? It may be talking walking dead. It may just be fat five plus, but you'll get a little bit of fat in your life every day.
Starting point is 00:02:40 So I saw your emails and just know that, you know, I'm doing, I'm working every day. I'm still doing Saturday morning live on X at Jeffrey J. with Brad Stags every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Central Time live, hence the name, Saturday morning live. You can still follow me on X at Jeffrey JFR. You should follow me there. You can follow me on Instagram and Facebook, Jeff Fisher Radio. You can follow me on my YouTube page, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher.
Starting point is 00:03:14 You can order a cameo from me at any time at Jeffrey JFR on the cameo app. None of that changed. Okay, none of a change, except that this show will now just be, you know, you and I together with just a little bit of fat every day, okay? Or, you know, maybe it won't be every day. Who knows? Just when you subscribe, you'll get an alert when the new show drops every day, okay? So you get a little bit of, like I said, you're going to get a little bit of fat in your life
Starting point is 00:03:43 every day. And as I said earlier, you're going to be able to call it chewing the fat, fat, fat five. plus because I'm taking Apple's plus. Sorry, they threw it away. They don't want it. All right, fine, I'll take it. I thought it was a law that every new, new program had to have a plus on it at one point,
Starting point is 00:04:03 starting a couple of years ago. But apparently Apple said, we've had it long enough and we don't want it anymore. So I'm taking it. Chewing the Fat 5 plus. So let's do Fat 5 plus. We started with Apple throwing away their plus. This actually, I don't know that this actually will hold true or not, but apparently, scientists need your toenails. And I thought, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:31 So, I mean, you want my blood, you want my plasma, you want my organs, you want all kinds of different body parts, but now you want my toenail clippings. Oh, okay. So there's a new pilot study from the University of Calgary in Canada. Oh, no. That means that they're just taking Canadian toenail. nails. I ask that's discrimination. I want the University of Calgary and Canada to take American toenails as well. So the team is soliciting toenail donations from Canadians to study the type of cancer that arises far from our feet, lung cancer. So apparently smoking is the largest cause of lung
Starting point is 00:05:12 cancer. Really? This is aggressive form of the disease can arise in those who have never had a cigarette. Yes. One of those patients is a lawyer that was diagnosed at the age of 47 after developing a nagging cough. I never smoked. I ate nutritionally and stayed up. And I thought to myself, I can't have lung cancer. Well, you can. I mean, that would just be a really sad pronouncement from the doctor, wouldn't it? Yes. But we're going to find out soon, I guess, that after tobacco smoking, Ray Don is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Okay. So how does that get to my toenails? According to a doctor who is recruiting for this larger study,
Starting point is 00:06:03 toenails will fill some crucial data gaps to estimate the individual's lung cancer risk due to long-term radon exposure. Okay. And they're going to do that by checking your toenails. Toonails hold long-term information about our exposure to radioactive toxicants in our environment, such as radon gas. They're one of our bodies' archives of past exposure. Okay. After you inhale radon, it quite quickly transforms into a specific type of radioactive lead. Your body treats radioactive lead from radon like it does all lead and stores it in slow shedding tissues, such as the skin, hair.
Starting point is 00:06:46 and nails. So hopefully, well, they'll just going to get a pile of toenail clippings from Canadians and soon we'll have a study
Starting point is 00:06:56 here in America so like we'll be able to those of you listening here in the United States we'll be able to donate your toenail clippings too. Huh? Yeah, just drop them in a zip lock
Starting point is 00:07:06 and send them off to the old University of Calgary and Canada. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. You know, what else would be appreciated is a invitation to Selena Gomez's wedding. No, not for me, silly. Selina's not going to invite me.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Although she sent an invitation, I probably would accept it. There is a friendship with an old friend of hers, actress Francia Arisa, Francia R-A-I-S-A, who gave her a kidney back in, I don't know, 2017, I think, something like that, dealing with her. She has lupus, and so she needed a transplant, and she got one from Francia.
Starting point is 00:07:54 So now, I guess the pair have kind of grown distant with one another, especially since Selena referred to Taylor Swift as her only real friend. I don't know. Does Taylor have a kidney to give to you? Selena? I doubt it. But, okay, serious, that was fine. And we find out that.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Francia was not invited to Selena's upcoming wedding. What? Yeah, I know. And when asked about it, Francia said, yeah, I know she's getting married and I'm really happy for her. She has her own life and she's already a billionaire.
Starting point is 00:08:29 She's a little jab at the billionaire. I'm glad I could help her. It was a donation. You don't call the church asking how they spent the dollar you donated. Oh, that's so good. Her words reflected both her support for Selena's happy. and her decision to move forward without bitterness.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Did it, though, because she threw in, she has her own life now. She's already a billionaire. I'm glad I could help her. So, Selena, what are you doing? Have you become way too big for your britches now? That you're the person, not only a friend, but a person who gave you a kidney, does not get an invitation to the wedding. I'm sure it was just an oversight.
Starting point is 00:09:14 I'm sure that it was just an oversight and that she'll end up going to the wedding. Right? Right. Boarding for flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. What? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea. Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements.

Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close, you call 1-8665-3126-0 or visit comics ontario.ca. Be sure to email the show anytime you'd like, chewing the fat at the blaze.com. Chewing the fat at the blaze.com is the email address, and I did get your emails. I see them all. I may not respond to them all, but I do see them. Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words,
Starting point is 00:10:25 the mean words, the sad words. I got them all. Thank you very much. Chewing the fat at the blaze.com. So part of the deal is, I was thinking in my head how I was going to go about this change. And this is what I was thinking.
Starting point is 00:10:40 All right. We'll work it out together. But because I said on Saturday morning live this past Saturday, that I felt like I'd been on vacation because I did Pat Gray's show at the overtime shows. That's two a day.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Plus I did Chewing the Fat, the regular show, the last regular show last Monday. So I did, what's that, 10, 11 shows, not counting Saturday morning live. And it felt like I was on vacation because I didn't do a Chewing the Fat show. So every day. So here's the deal. I'm going to call this the Chewing the Fat Fat Five Plus. But I'm not going to do the Fat Five that I do on Pat every day. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:19 So do you want to hear the Daily Fat Five? Subscribe to Pat Gray's or watch it. live 7 to 9 Eastern. That would be 6 to 8 Central, or you can listen to the podcast, or be a subscriber to Blaze TV, and watch it there. But I will give you, like, the Fat 5 Plus.
Starting point is 00:11:37 So you'll get, you know, maybe five or six stories every day just to, hey, I'm still here, we're still doing it, and it's still going on. Still fascinating me, some of these stories. And who knows, some days it might just be a lot longer. You know, for instance, like Instagram is exploring a dedicated TV app, to expand its video reach and complete to be able to compete more directly with youtube good luck
Starting point is 00:12:00 uh you've got uh and they claim the tic-tok deal is done is it because i haven't seen any i haven't seen any doubted line work on that and uh we don't seem to be in that great uh relations with china right now so i don't think that tic-tac deal is done but sure if you tell me it's done absolutely then it's done and it's all good right Right. Okay. That's fine. I'll just stop talking about it. It will be fine. All right. Good. I mean, there is always things going on. For instance, Salesforce begins its annual takeover of San Francisco today. For those of you listening live, today is the 14th of October 2025. And they're having their Dream Force conference. They're expecting more than 50,000 people who definitely know what Salesforce. does. See, because he was writing and saying he doesn't know what Salesforce does. So we'll get to hear from Mark Benoff.
Starting point is 00:13:05 He's a keynote address. You know, we love him. Look, he's the guy that said, I'm pretty sure it's him, right? That said that Trump should send the National Guard to San Francisco? I think so. Maybe he was just talking about sending them to San Francisco to, you know, protect the city from crime and keep his people safe while they're there for his Dreamforce conference. But he's the one who said it.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Yeah, I don't think his buddies out there on the West Coast in Silicon Valley. I was too happy about that. But okay, sure. No problem. Be ready. So we'll look for stories from San Francisco this week. And then, of course, we have Who Died Today? Who Died Today?
Starting point is 00:13:52 A lot of people, man, since. we've last spoken. If you're listening live today is the 14th of October, 2025. Diane Keaton passed away up to 79 years old. Apparently friends were like, we haven't seen her in a while.
Starting point is 00:14:10 And her house was burned in part of the Palisades fire. And so she had to move. And she went away because they had to redo a lot of stuff on her house. It didn't get completely burned, but had a lot of damage. And then she came back.
Starting point is 00:14:23 And when she came back from wherever she stayed, she had lost a bunch more weight and her health had fallen quite a bit. And so even her friend, Carol Bayer Sager, you remember Carol Bayer Sager, big-time songwriter,
Starting point is 00:14:38 wrote all kinds of songs, and I was just looking at some of her, get away from Diane Keaton for just a second, who she was really good friends with Carol Bayer Sager. And Sager wrote a bunch of songs, and one of the songs that, she co-wrote was she wrote a lot of stuff for
Starting point is 00:14:58 Melissa Manchester and one of the songs that Melissa Manchester did was Don't Cry Out Loud. Do you remember that song? Oh my gosh. Don't cry out loud Baby cried the day the circus came to town
Starting point is 00:15:15 She didn't want the parade Just passing by her Oh my gosh Anyway, Carol Bear Sager good friend of Diane Keaton, said that she saw her a couple weeks ago, and she was shockingly thin. Shockingly thin. And so she said she lost so much weight. And so Carol said, yeah, boy, you lost a lot of weight.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Got to go now. Good to see you. Take care. And so then they, you know, now she's passed away. So rest in peace to Diane Keaton dead at the age of 79. Now this story is fascinated me for about a week. And this guy, Nicholas Manning, dead at the age of 46. He was the CEO of West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho.
Starting point is 00:16:06 He was found dead on June 6th at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Harbor East. Sure, it's a nice place to stay. Officers were called around 204 p.m. for a reported overdose. He was pronounced dead on the scene and he was out on the street. It was 700 block of the Salencia Street. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:33 It wasn't in his hotel room. It was weird and it was reported an overdose. Now, he was pronounced dead on the scene. No signs of trauma were observed to his body. All right. So now, they say nearly one in five deaths in Baltimore, our class of four. undetermined, according to data released this year.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Baltimore City recorded the highest rate with 23.5% of autopsy deaths falling into that category. Weird that happens, but okay. So medical experts and criminal officers say that the numbers are unusually high and raise concerns about the accuracy of how Maryland categorizes deaths as homicide, suicides, or accidental overdoses. Okay, that's an inside fight. All right. But he was just appointed as the CEO.
Starting point is 00:17:19 of West Valley Medical Center in November of 2023. So he was living large. Holded leadership hold hold hold hold. He was holding them near leadership roles at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Ogden Regional Medical Center in Utah. He was holding onto them. And then he's found dead.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Now they don't know why he was in Baltimore. I don't even know why he was there. The police haven't said, the Mannings haven't said, the family's like there's no way that his that early reports of an overdose we need a deeper investigation oh okay now they say there's no credible evidence that confirms manning was the victim of fraud and homicide according to the baltimore police department there's currently no official reports available to the public so the family's like no we we we don't believe it okay So I guess they have to file a private detective.
Starting point is 00:18:19 This is where Canon would come in because they need a private detective. And we need to figure out what happened to Nicholas Manning dead on the streets of Baltimore. Because it's sad, but I guess maybe he has the CEO, the only place he could go get high by himself was on the streets of Baltimore, math in Baltimore. That could be the title of the episode.
Starting point is 00:18:48 But we'll see. We'll keep an eye out. So rest and peace, still, to Nicholas Manning dead at the age of 46. All right, that's enough. Let's get out of here. This is the Fat 5. Thank you for coming to the Chewing the Fat 5 Plus. And so, you know, I guess we ended with a joke of the day.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I could end it with the feel good story maybe. and we change it from a joke of the day to a feel-good story of the day, although jokes are nice and feel-good stories are like, I don't know if they're true or not, right? You know, when we talk about, well, this story, let's do this, the feel-good story. You can email your feel-good story
Starting point is 00:19:35 to chewing the fat at the blaze.com or your joke of the day. The feel-good story for today. My husband and I attended a wedding celebration yesterday. my husband excused himself to go to the restroom. And all the other couples at the table got up to go to the dance floor. I was seated by myself. One of the bride's good friends from high school,
Starting point is 00:19:55 whom I'd never met before, sat down, noting that I was by myself. She introduced herself and initiated a pleasant small talk. We figured out how we shared common bonds with the wedding couple. It was such a lovely gesture. She stayed until my husband returned. She is the bride's husband. age, I am the bride's mother. I am the bride's mother's age. What act of kindness that was
Starting point is 00:20:21 and what kind of act of kindness have you done today? Huh? Yeah, what are you done? This chick hung out at a table with another lady until her husband came back so she wouldn't be lonely. What have you done today? Okay. I mean, have you held the door open for somebody? I guess that could be It could be counted as something nice. Does telling, no. If I don't tell someone that they're stupid to their face, is that an act of kindness? I think it is.
