Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. Here we go again. The clocks are going back an hour this weekend. Yes, fallback is happening again,
Starting point is 00:00:45 and that fight is coming, and we'll be hearing about it all week long of how time change does nothing, and we need to stop it. I agree. But we're coming up on it this weekend. If you're listening live, today is the 28th of October.
Starting point is 00:01:00 2024. So on Sunday, the third of November, at 2 a.m. You can't do it any other time. You cannot do it any other time, but at 2 a.m. Eastern, you have to set your clock back at that exact time. Otherwise, you're breaking the law or the rules. So be sure to set your clocks back. And really, I mean, all the studies show that there's minimal impact on the time change and saving, conserving energy and everything. So we just need to pick one and go with it. But we can't because we just can't. So be ready for time change this upcoming weekend. And again, you can't change it early.
Starting point is 00:01:48 I don't want to hear you about you changing it on Friday to get ready for it. I don't want to hear you changing it Saturday before 2 a.m. on Sunday, no. at 2 a.m. on Sunday, your clocks have to be, they have to be changed. And that's just, those are the rules of the game. Welcome. And you know, really, there's nothing, I mean, what's left that you have to change manually? Maybe the oven clock, you know, the stove clock, maybe you have to do that manually, but that's if you have an old one. Maybe your coffee maker, if you have an old one. But all the other clocks in your life are digital. So that changes automatically. So you don't have to
Starting point is 00:02:27 worry about it. Just know that if you don't set your coffee maker timer correctly, then, you know, it's not going to be made when you get up, but that is unacceptable. Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Out of the Chewing the Fat, interesting file, six San Francisco public transport employees who were fired for refusing to get COVID-19, vaccines have been awarded more than a million dollars each. Interesting. So the Bay Area Rapid Transit, BART employees filed a discrimination lawsuit saying they were wrongfully terminated for refusing the vaccine on sincerely held religious beliefs. Federal jurors this week awarded
Starting point is 00:03:19 the group a total of $7.8 million or $1.3 million each. In California, after attorney's fees, what's that maybe like 10 bucks but they won that's that's awesome so uh the bart had issued their COVID-19 vaccination policy in October of 20 to 21 that required all employees to be fully vaccinated those who were asked those who asked for exemptions because of their sincerely held religious beliefs were fired and oh really yeah exclusion of religious people from the enjoyment of a of a right in violation of the First Amendment's religion clauses and federal and state anti-discrimination in employment laws. 109 employees' requests for religious exemption were denied.
Starting point is 00:04:10 BART officials failed to prove an undue hardship, and the six employees had revealed a genuine conflict between their faith and the vaccine. The rail employees chose to lose their livelihood rather than deny their faith. That in itself shows the sincerity and depth of the vaccine. their convictions. So after, I don't know, three years of struggle, these workers feel that they were hurt and understood by the jury and are overjoyed and relieved by the verdict. So as I said, they got $7.8 million payout. It was calculated from lost wages plus a million for each fired employee. Interesting. I'm sure that many companies and government agencies or the agencies
Starting point is 00:04:53 that are connected to governments are looking at that going, oh boy, oh boy, yeah, because if you were fired for your refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine and you had told them and filed for your religious exemption and they said, eh, sorry about it, you're gone. The time has come for companies to pay up on that. And jurors are going to be awarding people a lot of money. So interesting, interesting, isn't it? One more out of the kind of interesting file. I mean, Diddy is still in jail. I was charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Starting point is 00:05:38 He's awaiting his trial at the Brooklyn Detention Center. Now, the report is that the judge denied the gag order. And while that's true, I mean, he denied the gag order or, you know, the proposal to prevent government officials from leaking information to the media. But at the same time as dismissing the gag order in front of him, the judge said, well, I'm going to adopt an order insisting that federal agents, investigators, and the rappers team must follow the laws forbidding them from leaking grand jury proceedings
Starting point is 00:06:15 that can meddle with a fair trial. Now, that order isn't based on a finding that there's been any wrongdoing, but the court has made no findings as to the juncture relating to defendant's allegations that information related to the case has been leaked. The point of this order is to help ensure that nothing happens from now on that would interfere with a fair trial. Okay. And the judge is saying, hey, we'll take appropriate action for any violations of the rules.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Interesting. Interesting. So, you know, they're all wound up because of the release of the videotape, you know, where he was at the hotel room and the hall. way and beating up his woman and dragged her back into the room and he's already apologized for that that's that's my favorite apology yeah oh that's a lot that's an awesome apology as far as i'm concerned do you have to mean okay apology accepted diddy but uh they're they have denied the government said hey we didn't leak that uh sorry uh wasn't us okay plus that really doesn't have anything to do
Starting point is 00:07:23 do with these allegations and the trial upcoming. So we'll see what happens with our man Diddy in the future, but he's not getting out of jail anytime soon. And there are plenty of people, you know, saying that the list of stars that are backing Kamala Harris for president of the United States seems to be more of a Jeffrey Epstein Diddy list. And is that possible? You tell me.
Starting point is 00:07:53 But it is interesting, isn't it? Another interesting story coming from North Carolina, Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who is running for governor of the great state of North Carolina, has filed a defamation lawsuit against CNN, which published an article last month, linking him to lewd and offensive comments made years ago on a pornography website.
Starting point is 00:08:19 So this all happened, I don't know, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 years ago. And if, I'm sorry, this allegedly happened quite some time ago. But the report said that in posts on the porn site called nude Africa and man, who doesn't remember going to noon Africa, who was running as a social conservative, described himself as a black Nazi, defended slavery, and wrote that he enjoyed watching transgender porn. and he said in a statement in front of a crowd when they filed the lawsuit, when times of trouble come in this thing we call politics,
Starting point is 00:09:00 it separates the strong folks from the weak. And the weak will turn and run, the strong will stand and fight, and that's what we're doing here today. Okay, CNN has declined comment on the lawsuit. He's suing them for $50 million. They're, you know, people of distance, himself from Mr. Robinson's campaign because of this. There's a guy that was quoted in the story named Lewis Money.
Starting point is 00:09:27 He's listed as a defendant. Mr. Money was cited and quoted in the article. And he said Mr. Robinson had frequented pornography stores in Greensboro, North Carolina, in the 90s and early 2000s. And I want to pause there for a second. So, but, you know, I guess if you're a Republican, we're out to get you, you can't do that. So apparently he, of course. According to this guy, Mr. Robinson frequently watched pornography in private booths in those days.
Starting point is 00:09:56 So Mr. Money also admitted that he released his music video with his band, Trailer Park Orchestra, saying that Mr. Robinson owed him money for porn videos. He also said, I love it. The only reason I put this song out and done these interviews is because I want publicly for the trailer park orchestra. And thank you, Mark. Yeah, I mean, that's all it is to him. So we'll see. They claim that they have, you know, evidence that there were hacked data breach files obtained from the dark web, claims that Mr. Robinson's data had been previously compromised by multiple data breaches,
Starting point is 00:10:34 and that any person could have purchased or used that data to create accounts all over the Internet. And they believe that they can prove that. We'll see what happens with that. Everybody's kind of distanced himself from Mark, and he filed the lawsuit, hopefully. to remind people that, hey, innocent until proven guilty, and I am fighting it, so why don't you still back me for governor of North Carolina? I have a problem with, you know, if it was him, now he obviously says it wasn't him, so, you know, I got it.
Starting point is 00:11:07 But if it was him, just say so, yeah, I was hooked on porn. I'm not any longer. And what I was saying online was because I was hooked on porn. porn and I faced my addictions and I'm better now. So why not do that? But I mean from the 90s and early 2000s, we're
Starting point is 00:11:29 supposed to believe that it's horrible and that he was using going to nude Africa in what? 2009. Okay. All right. Oh, the horror. But it is interesting, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:11:46 With MX Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Did you go to the theaters this weekend? Yeah, not a lot of people did. I mean, some of the movies got some big money, seemingly big money, but not as much as they
Starting point is 00:12:22 thought they were going to get. And you had, I mean, college football, NFL, and the World Series on. So people were a little busy rather than going to the movie theaters. So Venom, Last Dance was the number one movie, 51 million domestic opening, but 175 million global. But that's lower than the old 80-90 million from the previous Venoms. Smile 2, 9.4 million was the domestic weekend. It's down 59%. Ooh, not good.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Conclave, which I really want to see, 6.5 million domestic opening from 1,753 theaters. I really want to see Conclavin. I feel like that movie is going to do great, fairly well at the theaters, but great streaming. A wild robot still hanging in there, 6.5 million. We live in time, still hanging in there. 4.8 million down, well, that's plus 15% from the last one. Okay, so the lovers were out this weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:21 Terrifier. I'm sorry, Terrifier 3, 4.7 million domestic. That's down 49%. Beetlejuice. Beetleju is still on the list. 3.2 million. Anora, 867,000 domestic weekend. Wow.
Starting point is 00:13:38 I mean, not even a million. Piece by piece, 720,000, not even a million. That's down 65%. And Transformers 1 was at 700, at number 10, was 720,000, not even a million for the weekend, down 64%. 57.9 million domestic total. It's pretty good in the U.S. should be better. It'll do great when it's streaming. It's on streaming now, as a matter of fact,
Starting point is 00:14:04 you can get it on streaming, and I think the DVD comes out in December with extra. I believe the streaming by and the DVD by gets you like 45 minutes of extra scenes, so that's good. And we also have an ongoing strike still, sag after us, still on strike, against the major video game developers. Oh, huh. I guess it hasn't been worked out. And the new deal is not coming soon because it says here that parties look to schedule more talks. So as we're looking to schedule more talks, that means that the strike is still on.
Starting point is 00:14:52 And no new dates have been announced. So the strike will remain. in effect until a new deal is made. So we'll see how that turns out. And speaking of unhappy workers, the Washington Post is reported that they had staff resign in rage, according to the story,
Starting point is 00:15:15 after the paper revealed that, yeah, we're not going to endorse any presidential candidate. They said they were not going to endorse any candidate in the 2024 race. And that reportedly caused outrage among staff members leading to resignations and threats of further action. Well, apparently, Jeff Bezos has also laid down the law that he wanted more conservative writers or reporting for the Washington Post.
Starting point is 00:15:42 And that has made their employees and staff members very upset. And it says here that many walked out. Have a nice day. Good luck. God bless. It's his paper. And he gets to do with it what he wishes. And so we'll see what the threat.
Starting point is 00:15:57 of further action are, but if that means that more people are going to walk out, there'll be some job openings at the Washington Post. And we are just days away from the actual election day. Many places around the country have early voting, so many of you may have already voted. Starting point is 00:18:43 and get $40 off an annual subscription to Blaze TV. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. What an awesome story out of North Carolina because of these West Virginia boys, coal miners from West Virginia, whom locals have dubbed the West Virginia boys. They moved a mountain. Took them three days to reopen a 2.7 mile stretch of highway between Batcave and Chimney Rock washed away by Haleen.
Starting point is 00:19:25 So Chimney Rock residents who fled the hurricane one month ago will now be able to return home for the first time with a few days months earlier than expected. So the river swallowed up this road and they haven't been home since the hurricane. And these West Virginia boys moved a mountain. All the roads were just gone and this was just miraculous according to all the people that live there. And miraculous to me. I don't even live there.
Starting point is 00:19:52 This is awesome. This right here is what makes America. This is what makes America. So the sole survivors from chimney rock who expected to spend a year on the open road until road access to their home was restored. So these miners took bulldozers and excavators onto the banks and widened the Broad River to shift the final 20-ton granite boulder into place to restore access between the two towns. They were all volunteering their time and they had asked the officials from Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, and the Department of Transportation from North Carolina, who visited and said, yeah, we can, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:35 this is not going to happen for quite some time. We've got to, you know, fill out all the paperwork and make sure everything is right. And these West Virginia boys said, no. How about no? We're just going to do it ourselves. And apparently these federal agencies and state agencies
Starting point is 00:20:54 all turned a blind eye to the on-sanctioned bill. Yeah, they had. I mean, they had to. There's no way they could have stopped these guys from building a road to help these people have access in and out of their homes and for help to get there. And there's no way. That world would have would have burned down, literally, if you stop these guys from doing this. Now, I'm sure they'll go back in and say, oh, we need to fix this and we need to fix that. We can't do that. You guys did that wrong. But for now, that road is open. That is awesome. Uh, really awesome. They punched it out in three days. The Army Corps of Engineers that took a look said they would send some surveyors and engineers. And the DOT said, yeah, we'll get some time up there, but it's not. It's going to take a long time.
Starting point is 00:21:44 And the West Virginia boys said, yeah, no, we'll have this road built before you finish your paperwork. And they did. So that is awesome. And it says in the story, many area, many in the area feel abandoned by FEMA. Yeah. because they have been. And I know we keep hearing that the government is there and people are, you know, have money available to them.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Except we keep hearing that all these people are being denied the money from FEMA. So yeah, you can say you're there and you're helping people when you really are not. And hardworking Americans will be there for each other. And this is proof positive. Now, I don't know how many Americans are working on this, but the world's largest building has broken ground. Now, obviously, what's going to be the world's largest building.
Starting point is 00:22:34 It's a $50 billion project called Mukab, M-U-K-A-B in Saudi Arabia, in the city of Ariada. And it's part of this futuristic construction across the Arab nation. Okay. So this is supposed to be the world's largest building. It's 1,300 feet high, 1,200 feet high, 1,200 feet. wide when completed and it will give it enough volume to contain 20 Empire State buildings. Again, if and when it's completed.
Starting point is 00:23:05 So they're saying that there's going to be fine dining, retail space, offices and restaurants, and it looks like a giant cube in the middle of downtown for all the renditions of this building. You'll be able to live there though and you never have to leave actually with all with everything that's there. I guess they're saying that it will be a, uh, feature 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms. I love this, I will say,
Starting point is 00:23:33 I love this comment from the builder who says that this will be human first, and that green spaces will be accessible within 15 minutes of any location in the cube. I mean, I'm all for humans first. So if that's what we're doing, fine. Let's do it. It's also going to, it's also going to have artificial intelligence
Starting point is 00:23:55 to create immersive experiences for Mookab visitors. That includes gigantic screens that cover the outside of the square. I guess it's going to be like the sphere, too. So that's kind of cool. The company said it's deriving design inspiration from the local ecology and regional architecture. Yeah, this giant square in the middle of Saudi Arabia. Yeah, that's just like regional architecture.
Starting point is 00:24:20 So the buildings and area surrounding the metropolitan oasis are inspired by, Wadis, Wadis, the aerobatic term for reverbed deformation. Okay. Winding structure pathways partially aligned with smaller buildings will create the likeness of desert streams flowing through craggy rocks leading up to the neck craning edifice. Uh-huh. So the square design itself, I guess, is this regional Nage-D architecture style, N-A-D-J-I architectural style. also characterized by mud brick buildings.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Yeah, they're not building this out of mud. Okay, it's just not doing it. So I guess it's expected to add over $51 billion in non-oil GDP and create 334,000 jobs. So if and when, it's supposed to be done by 2030. Ha! Okay. So good luck to Saudi Arabia.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And it looks the rendition, the rendering of this building in the middle of Rihanna. It looks awesome. That's the word I was thinking of. It looks awesome. So you can go and live at the mukab. And you never have to leave. Once you move in, you never have to leave.
Starting point is 00:25:41 I don't even know if it's like the Hotel California where you can't leave. But once you're in, you're not going to want to leave. So there's that. It's hockey season. And you can get anything you need delivered. with Uber Eats. Well, almost almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rank on Uber Eats.
Starting point is 00:26:13 But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Gold tenders, no. But chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Starting point is 00:26:29 you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. Who died today? Who died today? Well, let's begin with Phil Lesh. Phil Lash, the founding bassist of the Grateful Dead, has passed away at 84.
Starting point is 00:26:49 He passed away peacefully, according to this story at the age of 84, surrounded by family. He was started with classical violin before shifting to trumpet, and then later joined the Grateful Dead in 1965, alongside Jerry Garcline. He helped define the role of bassist and American rock.
Starting point is 00:27:12 So congratulations for the Grateful Dead for being so huge. And sadly, Phil Lesh, founding bassist of the Grateful Dead at the age of 84. Then we have Garcia Glenn White, Garcia Glenn White, age 61. dead due to a chemical injection at the state prison of Huntsville. He was a Texas man convicted of fatally stabbing a twin 16-year-old girls more than three decades ago, executed. His final words, I would like to apologize for all the wrong I have done and for the pain I have caused. And that's when the chemicals began flowing into the death chamber. and Garcia Glenn White
Starting point is 00:28:06 was pronounced dead at 6.56 p.m. So he's now dead at the age of 61. Then we have David Harris. David Harris, the actor who played Cochise in the Warriors. Warriors, come out and play. Dead at the age of 75. I loved David Harris. He was awesome.
Starting point is 00:28:34 He died. at his home in New York City after a battle with cancer. Very sad. He was, I just, when you see him, you know, David Harris, who is he? But when you see him, you'll go, oh yeah, him. Very sad. David Harris, dead at the age of 75. Then we have grizzly number 399.
Starting point is 00:28:56 I sadly, dead at the age of 28. So he's a famous grizzly bear. He's been loved by countless tourist biologists and professional wildlife photographers in the Grand Teton National Park. And he is dead after being struck by a vehicle in western Wyoming. No word if the bear was in the middle of the road trying to attack the car. What is happening? Apparently, the grizzly, she was struck and not believed to have been hurt. its whereabouts are unknown, the little yearling cub that was with Grizzly number 399.
Starting point is 00:29:37 So maybe Grizzly 399 was trying to protect the little yearling cub, but it didn't work. Or, well, I guess it did because Grizzly 399 died and the yearling cub, I guess, is off wandering around without its mother. So very sad. Grizzly 399 dead at the age of 28. Then a couple of stories that were probably, cause death. A passenger fell overboard from Royal Caribbean's Taylor Swift-themed cruise. The allure of the seas in the Bahamas.
Starting point is 00:30:12 The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for the 66-year-old woman who went overboard about 17 miles north of NASA. Search efforts are underway. And they began hearing rumors that, you know, a lifeboat has been circling the ship, which was at a standstill. they were looking for the 66-year-old woman, and she is presumed now, I guess, dead. Although, as of this recording, they haven't found her, so it's possible that she's still alive,
Starting point is 00:30:42 but very doubtful that this 66-year-old woman survived going overboard from the allure of the seas cruise ship on the Taylor Swift-themed cruise. It was that bad. She had to go overboard. Wow. I thought the Taylor Swift-themed cruise would be a lot better than apparently it was. And then we have the death of Blockbuster. Yes, many of you thought, no, Blockbuster's not dead.
Starting point is 00:31:13 There's a store in Bend, Oregon. It's the last one, and it's still alive. Ooh, it's on life support because it is now scheduled to close at the end of this month, October 2024. It wants the global phenomenon had more than 9,000 stores, and it's down to just one in Bend, Oregon. And that will close on the 31st of October 2024. So rest in peace soon to every Blockbuster store in America, because they're all gone but one. And on the 31st, whatever closing time is on the 31st,
Starting point is 00:31:54 it's over. Life support is being pulled. We're pulling the plug on Blockbush. on the 31st. So rest in peace to blockbuster. And remember the lady Denise Prudham 60? I mean, she was on who died today back then in August. They found her dead in her cubicle and she'd been there for four days. I mean, they finally discovered her by a security guard four days later.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Holy cow. She had checked in on Friday 7 a.m. never scanned out. and they found her later on Tuesday the 20th. So sad. I'm not laughing. It's just so sad. Why? She's just there, back there in this cubicle.
Starting point is 00:32:37 So they have now revealed the cause of death. According to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's office, she suffered a sudden cardiac death related to scarring of the heart muscle. That's what the Arizona Central reports. Medical experts say heart attacks are most common cause of scarring tissue on the heart. Yeah. So they believe that it was a heart attack. Duh.
Starting point is 00:32:59 And I'm sure it wasn't because of that. Because it was that that caused the heart attack, they would have said something. So apparently, I mean, Wells Fargo people are still wound up about it. And they're just, they can't believe. What if I was just sitting there?
Starting point is 00:33:15 Said one distraught employee. No one would check on me. Well, you know, maybe someone would. Maybe someone that knew you would say, hey, we haven't heard from you in a day or two. but four days and no one noticed really sad now apparently she was the only person on her team in tempe and maybe one of the reasons why her desk was located in an underpopulated area of the building so nobody checked over there for four days and i guess the security people would walk by
Starting point is 00:33:45 but they wouldn't go and check in the cubicles because most of the time they were all empty during this time and uh in the back back offices of wells fargo It was just until they started smelling or something. Now, they claim the workers are like, hey, the union is criticizing the bank, claiming that it intensely scrutinizes workplace behavior, but they failed to act when Prudem stopped being active. Wells Fargo monitors every move on keystroke
Starting point is 00:34:16 using remote electronic technologies purportedly to evaluate our productivity. And we'll fire us if we're caught not making enough keystrokes on our computers. However, Denise went on. noticed at her desk for four days. It's a good point. That is a good point. Why no one noticed, hey, we haven't heard anything from Denise and her computer isn't being used unless she was found dead leaning on her keyboard.
Starting point is 00:34:41 So it looked like she was using her keyboard for four days. I don't know. I don't know. But I guess they're calling for enhanced safety precautions. I mean, that would be the security guards actually walking through and doing their full job. by going, walking past all the cubicles and making sure that they're empty and no one is hiding in them or dead in them.
Starting point is 00:35:04 So that would seem to be something that could be worked out with the security process there at the old Wells Fargo building. But we know now that Denise Prudham, dead at the age of 60, was found in her cubicle because of a heart attack. This episode is brought to you, by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here. Another weekend of great, College football happened, no problem. I know my Missouri Tigers looked terrible, but they are still in the top 25th, still ranked 25th in the country.
Starting point is 00:36:19 I don't know that they deserve to be there, but they are. And so it was fun. There were some great games to watch. I did enjoy this post from Texas A&M police account on X, which went viral because they played LSU. And they came back and beat LSU. LSU was crushing them in the first half,
Starting point is 00:36:37 and Texas A&M ended up winning that game, which was awesome for Texas A&M fans. I would have liked to have seen LSU win that game, but oh well. But the report on X from the Texas A&M police, there's several posts here, five different posts. A subject ejected for fighting, Section 338. Next post. Intoxicated subject, Section 132, released to sober friend. Post three, Section 336. Subject arrested for possession of cocaine.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Ooh, not good. Four. Responded to unruly and intoxicated subject, Section 408. Attempted to locate a sober friend, but was unsuccessful, arrested for public intoxication. And the fifth post from the Texas A&M Police, Section 234. Subjected throwing beer on fans ejected. So, man, most of them came out pretty good. they couldn't find the sober friend of one person, so they arrested him, and the one person
Starting point is 00:37:39 had cocaine on them. Ooh, that's not good. But that's a college football this week, in a nutshell. NFL, the usual, the big thing about the NFL yesterday was, you know, well, a couple big things. I mean, the Jets lost. We can go in depth. I won't.
Starting point is 00:37:55 But they're Washington commanders, which I hate saying, still should be the Redskins. And my son believes that they're going to, when they get New York, but they're, you uniforms, they're going to still be called the commanders, but they're going to have a pay homage to the Redskins by having the Redskin insignia still on the uniform and still be called the commanders, which, you know, I guess was try to make up for not being the Redskins, but I don't even see that happening, really. But they won on a Hail Mary pass from Jaden Daniels at the end of the game. It was awesome. One of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bears had fought back to take the lead in the last minute of the game, and they thought it was over. And then, no, Jay Daniels said, no, I'm going to pass the ball about 75 yards. And you're going to tip the guy who was making fun of taunting the Chicago fans as he was walking back on the past play as the play was already underway, tipped the ball to the commander's wide receiver, and they won the game. It was a walk-off touchdown, which was awesome. Then we had the World Series.
Starting point is 00:38:59 I mentioned earlier that the movie theaters were blaming, you know, the World Series for not having many people at the theater, which, you know, okay, sure, you can do that. But the Los Angeles Dodgers took a two-nothing lead over the New York Yankees, game three, tonight in New York. I don't know. I guess Otani is injured now. He injured his shoulder sliding into second base. So I guess he's going to not play, but I find that hard to believe that he won't play in the World Series. I feel like he will find a way to play. Then we had the WNBA, the Indiana Fever coach, the head coach for Caitlin Clark, was given the boot over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Big surprise there. I don't think she used Caitlin correctly. She had two strong rookies on her team and used them incorrectly. And it was shown that way. I know they went to the playoffs and they ended up, I think, at 500. And it was the first time they'd been to the playoffs in a while. but she made the decision to make Caitlin and, what's her face, Boston, LA, of Boston, along with Caitlin Clark, you know, play her game instead of the game being their game. You've got the number one picks and you're still trying to be your game instead of letting the game be theirs.
Starting point is 00:40:20 And that's not the way to coach the superstars. Just, you know, I don't necessarily want the job. I mean, if they offered it, I'm sure, why not? I'll give it a shot. But they're not going to offer me the job. But you have to make the team around your stars, not the game around. It's just a weird thing.
Starting point is 00:40:38 And she did it all wrong, so it doesn't surprise me that she got the boot. And the MLS, the Major League Soccer Cup playoffs, are underway. Does anyone really care about that? I don't think so. But they're underway. Well, it's been a long time since I've seen a major league soccer game.
Starting point is 00:40:54 We used to go all the time when I lived in Tampa because of my radio station that I worked at, broadcast the games. So we had tickets to the games. They played at Tampa Stadium. And what's his face? Was their big star? Valdorama was their big star.
Starting point is 00:41:08 And my son was playing soccer at the time. We went to all the games. He felt he owned Tampa Stadium. We went in the same gate every game. Sat in the same seats, midfield. It was awesome. We had a lot of fun. But I haven't been to a game in a long long time.
Starting point is 00:41:22 But, you know, if you're interested in soccer, the Major League Soccer Cup playoffs, are underway. I could talk sports forever. I was listening to a sports station this weekend coming home from the Mercury 1 charity ball, the gala, that took place this weekend, which was really nice and really wonderful. And that's how Mercury 1 raises money to pay the bills so that the money you donate to Mercury 1.org for whatever horrible tragedy has forsaken places around the world and they're there to help. any natural disasters or whatever disaster it is,
Starting point is 00:41:59 100% of the money that you donate goes to that particular tragedy. And they do that by paying the bills once a year at the Mercury 1 gala. And they have an auction and people speak. And it was really nice. It was held at the Mercury Studios. And anyway, I was driving home. I was listening to a sports station driving home. So I wanted to hear some scores of a couple of the games that were on that I missed while I was at the gala.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Because, you know, you can't just look it up on your phone. which I did. I looked up the score, so I'd like to hear some details. And I will say that Saturday night sports casters are, they can reach out to me. I'll be happy to do a show on Saturday nights on a national network and talk about sports because the people you have are questionable to me. That's all I'm going to say.
Starting point is 00:42:54 I'm not going to say who it is or who it was or what network it was, but it was questionable. So if you'd like someone to talk sports on the weekend, I'd want to pay a little money, you can reach out to me chewing the fat of the blaze.com. We can talk, okay? All right, good. All right, so let's go with the joke of the day.
Starting point is 00:43:12 It's more of a meme of the day, but it made me laugh over the weekend, so I'm going to share it with you. If it makes me laugh, then I'm going to share it with you. It's a meme with an older couple laying in bed, and the wife says, I was dreaming, I was at Walmart. And the husband says, I was dreaming.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I was with three women. And the wife says, was I there? No, you were at Walmart. Probably, probably. And I'm just going to say probably, not the right answer from Hubby.
