Starting point is 00:00:00 It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rink on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no, but chicken tenders, yes. Because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Order Uber Eats now. For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. Okay, we need to relax.
Starting point is 00:00:37 We need to calm down because we have a little bit of time. The FDA issued yesterday a ban that will ban red number three from food products and ingested drugs. But the good thing here is that we have until January 15th, 2027 to remove all the products from the food and we have until January 18th, 2028 to have all the red dye removed from the ingested drugs.
Starting point is 00:01:10 So we've got a little bit of time. So don't worry about it. You're still going to be able to get your Morningstar Farms, veggie bacon strips, your Vigo-Safron yellow rice, your Pez candy, your double bubble, original twist
Starting point is 00:01:28 bubble gum, your Entomens, little bites, party cake mini muffins, your Betty Crocker loaded mashed potatoes, your fruit by the food starburst, and fruit cocktail cherries, plus your candy corn will still have red dye number three in it, you know, at least until 20, 27. That's good. Now, you know, the thing is, is that the move came in response to a petition from the Center for Science in the public interest. And I love the Center for Science. in the public interest.
Starting point is 00:02:02 And so, and 23 other organizations, actually, which included data showing male lab rats exposed to high levels of red number three got cancer. Well, what about humans? Now, no, studies in humans did not show the same effect. Oh, okay. So available data does not raise safety concerns for humans. Okay. But still, though, you know, red died.
Starting point is 00:02:30 3 used in Canada and Europe, you know, is, they still use it. They don't call it red dye number 3, though. They call it Erytheracine, E-R-Y-T-R-O-S-I-N. And so Red Number 3 has been banned in cosmetics and topical drugs for nearly 35 years, but it has remained in food and ingested drugs. But, you know, not for lack of concern. People have been, you know, hollering about it for many, many years. including RFK Jr.
Starting point is 00:03:03 And so when you see a red 3 or FD and C, red 3, or red number 3, or Erythrocyne, know that that needs to go away. Well, I don't know if that needs to go. Erythro scene needs to go away in the U.S. If they call it something else, maybe it doesn't need to go away. It's been banned, you know, restricted and banned in Australia, Japan,
Starting point is 00:03:28 and EU countries. So we have anyway until January 15th, 2027 for food manufacturing products and 2028 until the ingested drugs have to do without the red number three. So it is being banned. Just take us a little time for these companies to change their production habits.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Does it though? Does it take two or three years? years? Yes, Jeff, it does. Okay, then it does. Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat. So I see where the Department of Transportation, you know, you love them, DOT. They are now slapping Southwest Airlines with a lawsuit, accusing the budget carrier for operating chronically late flights because of unrealistic scheduling. Southwest said that, uh, Well, you know, we're disappointed by the suit, and we've got a great record of not canceling flights. Yeah, they didn't say anything about canceling flights. They said late flights, and that's caused by unrealistic scheduling. But, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:46 So the DOT also announced a $650,000 fine for Frontier Airlines over late arrivals. This looks like part of a larger crackdown since the department recently issued its first ever fine against JetBlue. over late flights. So the DOT is after airlines to keep those flights on time. Now, if they're delayed at one end, I'm not sure what they're considering late. Because if you're delayed by takeoff, you're going to be late arriving.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And, you know, what they're talking about, they're unrealistic scheduling. Yes, of course. They've cut flights back, so every load of humans on a plane is full, and they've got to get you to where you're, going, I get it. It's a nightmare traveling these days. So hopefully they can do something about that. Yeah. That's going to happen. Congratulations to the busiest airports in the world.
Starting point is 00:05:48 They just released the top ten busiest airports in the world. Atlanta, Hartsfield, Jackson International, number one. Number two, Dubai International. Number three, Tokyo International. Number four, London Heathrow. Number five, Dallas, Dallas Fort Worth International. Yeah, I mean, I drive by that airport every day. Their flight path goes over the road that I travel to Mercury Studios every day. That thing is cranking, so I can well imagine that these other airports,
Starting point is 00:06:29 how busy they are. Number six, Denver International. Number seven is Guantzalzu, Bayan, which is beautiful this time of year. Istanbul is number eight. Shanghai Pudong, which is another beautiful place this time of year. And Chicago O'Hare,
Starting point is 00:06:47 coming in at number 10. Those are your top 10 airports into the world. Wow. Atlanta, they claim as number one, because it handled 62.7 million seats in 2024. They are moving some humans through Atlanta, Hartfield, Jackson International. Now, one of those passengers, who was flying from Amsterdam to Newark,
Starting point is 00:07:18 which is beautiful, I mean, if you've ever been through the Newark International Airport, not in the top 10, though. This particular passenger is Zachary Greer, G. G-R-E-A-R-E-A-R was slapped with a $10,000 fine because apparently he took a X-N-X with alcohol to calm his nerves for the flight and ended up losing his cool and peeing in his seat in the aisle. Oh, nasty. I don't know if $10,000 is enough.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So Zachary was slapped with this $10,000 fine. line and because I guess the captain had to dump more than $30,000 worth of fuel to divert the plane to Dublin because he was not making people fly across the ocean to Newark sitting next to Zach's P which I'm happy about but if he dumped $30,000 worth of fuel you'd think that the fine would be at least $30,000 right so he offered his most. sincere apology. He was very sorry. He was horrified and embarrassed by his actions. Were you? Worrya? Because it seems like he did it anyway. He had been airborne for about two hours when Greer began acting unruly, disrupting passengers near him and urinating all over his seat
Starting point is 00:08:47 and the aisle. Oh man. The police got on board and he was intoxicated. He didn't know where he was. and so he was arrested and pleaded guilty to intoxication and threatening abusive or insulting behavior. I mean, I hate those charges because you're getting arrested and they're treating you like crap anyway. And of course you're abusive, so what? But they charge you for it, so it's not a so what situation.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And of course, causing annoyances on board and aircraft all offenses under Ireland's Air Navigation and Transport Act. You don't want to mess with Ireland's Air Navigation and Transport Act. probably worse than here in the United States. So the judge said, oh, your actions were appalling and horrifying to the 153 passengers aboard the plane and 13 crew members.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah. Can you imagine the fear and trauma he caused to the pilot? No, I can't imagine that. The pilot was like, he peed all over back there? All right, well, I'm not coming out, but we're going to go ahead and divert the plane, okay? And I'm going to have to dump a bunch of fuel so that I can land.
Starting point is 00:09:53 that kind of sucks. So the court ordered De Greer to match his donations to help pay the damages of United, effectively fining him $11,000, $10,000 in about, which is about a little over $10,000 in American money. So $10,308 in American money? Wow, we need to do something about that. United Airlines told the post that he was removed from the plane
Starting point is 00:10:21 without further incident. the flight departing from from Dublin later that day. So they cleaned it up, hosed it down, changed out the seat, hopefully. Or they just left it empty and put a little sign on it. Don't sit here.
Starting point is 00:10:37 This is the P-seat. I mean, I hope they did something for the other passengers because never mind the pilot suffering trauma and fear. But if I was on that plane, I suffered all kinds of trauma.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Man. all I could think about is this guy urinating all over the place and I could barely continue my flight to Newark. So, I mean, I'm going to need at least, I don't know. I don't know how many air miles you'd have to give me to make me more at ease with air travel. And $10,000 seems like an awful cheap find for this guy because it doesn't even cover the fuel that they dumped.
Starting point is 00:11:17 So, I don't know. It just doesn't seem fair. For sure, $10,000. for urinating all over the seat. I don't care that he was drunk or high on Xanax or whatever the hell he was, or the mixture of both for his cocktail that caused him to urinate everywhere.
Starting point is 00:11:34 But that urinating everywhere, man, that is just nasty. And 10,000 bucks, that's not enough of a fine. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. So if you're thinking about going to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration, yeah, you know, speaking of travel, if you're going to use one of the busiest airports in the country to go to the Washington, D.C. for the Donald Trump inauguration. The Watergate Hotel has got a huge state inauguration package. So in commemoration of the 60th inauguration of the President of the United States of America, the lavish Watergate head of state package includes round-trip transportation from New York
Starting point is 00:13:01 City to D.C. And one of Blade fleet of helicopters. Oh, so you have to go fly to New York, though. So if I'm here, I got a show up in New York and now this is part of the package.
Starting point is 00:13:17 You get one of the DC and one blade fleet of helicopters, a daily executive chauffeur in an armored Maybach. The package also includes a presidential welcome amenity. I'm sure what that is. I guess the
Starting point is 00:13:31 That's just a, you know, hey, here's a robe or something that says the Watergate Hotel. A private whiskey tasting with the hotel's esteemed whiskey council. Who doesn't want that? And a tour of the scandal suite where the historical break-ins was conducted. So that's, you know, you're at the Watergate. You want to know where it happened. You also get the overnight accommodations in the presidential suite, the round-trip helicopter transportation by blade,
Starting point is 00:13:58 private daily executive chauffeur and the Armored Maybach, presidential welcome amenity. Oh, here's with the presidential welcome amenity is stationary and custom wax seal and keepsake Watergate crystal. Huh? Private tasting of the Royal Selection menu of whiskeys with the Watergate Hotel's esteemed Whiskey Council.
Starting point is 00:14:19 When you think of Whiskey Council, you think of the Watergate Hotels esteemed Whiskey Council. And you can do that. all for $73,500 plus tax. In fact, it says here, this package starts at $73,500. And then you can, you know, they give a number or you can just, you know, email the Watergate Hotel. So if you're thinking about going, Monday's the big day.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Monday's the big inauguration day. I mean, Monday's a busy day, right? We got the inauguration. It's MLK's birthday. We've got the national championship in college football. Big Day. J.D. Vance even said, he was, he said, I hope everyone understands that I'm going to have to miss all the fun
Starting point is 00:15:08 because I'm going to be in Atlanta for the national championship, of course, being an Ohio State fan that he is, then people would understand, but most people would not. So I'm sure, J.D., he was just joking. He was just fun and everybody showing his support for those Ohio. Ohio State Buckeyes. Anyway, you can stay at the Watergate and, you know, have a great time and have all these amenities and accommodations. And it just starts at $73,500.
Starting point is 00:15:41 And that's it. You know, speaking of the inauguration, I hope that it goes without a hitch. You can quote me on that. It needs to go without a hitch. I see where Google and Boeing have confirmed that they each donated a million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund. And donations for the event have reached a record-breaking $170 million. Everybody wants to be able to say, hey, I donated. Hey, President Trump, I donated.
Starting point is 00:16:15 I believe in you. Now, he's had a record his first inauguration in 2017 when he raised $107 million. That's nothing. now. And Biden only raised like $62 billion, please. People want Donald Trump to know, you're the new sheriff in town and we donated, okay? You're the new old sheriff in town. And we want you to know we donated. I mean, meta, Amazon, Uber, they've all donated. And Google, in fact, said we donated and we've donated the funds in the past. So this is not a new thing for us. And we're going to help
Starting point is 00:16:52 users watch the inauguration by promoting links on our homepage and hosting a live stream on YouTube. So that's special. Thank you, Google. We appreciate it. We know you're behind Donald Trump 100%. Uh-huh. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately. So the TikTok ban is still looming. We don't know exactly what. We don't know exactly going to happen yet, but who knows? Supposed to January 19th, if you're listening live, today is the 16th of January, 2025. I know we are supposed to have the, they've got this, they've got this looming Supreme Court
Starting point is 00:17:40 ruling that they, as far as I know, at the time of this recording, the Supreme Court has not ruled whether they're going to uphold the U.S. ban on the app, but it certainly looks like they may. they've talked about how they have obtained a memo now from TikTok and it said the memo read if if true we know it's unsettling to not know exactly what happens next but TikTok will stay open regardless of what happens to the app over the next several days the bill is not written in a way
Starting point is 00:18:15 that impacts the entities through which you are employed only the U.S. user experience of TikTok, according to the memo. Okay, so they're trying to put the, you know, the employees at ease. Uh-huh. Sure, yeah, that's what we said, but really we don't need you anymore because we don't have the U.S. Inside TikTok, the mood is grim, though, according to this, definitely stressful. The Chinese government, which has the final say on any sale of TikTok, reportedly considering allowing Elon Musk. That's BS, because I don't think Elon is.
Starting point is 00:18:49 considering it, although, you know, I guess it's possible. But it was also reported that the Chinese government in Bight Dan said, no, that's not happening. Then Frank McCourt, a billionaire real estate developer and former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, also floated proposal to buy the apps U.S. operations. I think that was with Kevin O'Leary, Mr. Wonderful, and they dubbed a Project Liberty. They met with Donald Trump. I don't know if that's going to happen. and who knows if Biden-Dansen was going to allow that to happen.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Donald Trump has said that he wants to save TikTok from a ban by negotiating some kind of deal. Yeah, I don't think he realized when, I think it was Trump that actually started talking about banning TikTok. And yeah, I don't think he realized how big it was and what a big deal it really, really has become. So, you know, their memo was, you know, on behalf of our HR teams, we want to acknowledge the resilience and dedication you've continued to demonstrate. straight and blah blah blah blah so they have a according to this they have a hundred and seventy million users uh users so we'll see what happens i mean i guess they could just cut it off
Starting point is 00:20:04 stop giving access to the app um the other there's a couple other tictoc apps that people are moving to we talked about one called uh and 8. And then there's one called Red Note, which are new side apps, they're Chinese-owned platform apps that they're hoping will, I guess, take the place of TikTok
Starting point is 00:20:33 if TikTok goes away. But they don't know for sure. And I see reports now where TikTok users have been learning Chinese on Duolingo, increasing the number amid their adoption of a Chinese social app called Red Note. So we've got people learning Chinese.
Starting point is 00:20:50 I mean, is that a good thing? Has TikTok created some educational purposes already? And they're not even banned yet? Yes, yes, it has. And I know, you know, all the other platforms are thinking they're going to get a piece of it, Instagram, Snap, YouTube, they're all ready to, you know, grab some content providers. I don't know. I don't know that that's going to happen, at least not in the early stages, because people are going to
Starting point is 00:21:20 be pissed like what are they doing uh you know the the tictock has been a go-to platform for uh the gen z audiences for sure and they've created some cultural moments and so i mean there's been you know the virtual hits and the viral hits that are going through and it starts on ticto and you know then you you may see it on instagram or you may see it on x or you may see it on facebook or you may see it on youtube but it started on ticot so we'll see and it's definitely a rabbit hole Man, I don't have it on my phone, but I have people in my family that do. And I have gone down some TikTok rabbit holes using their phone. And it's just, it happens.
Starting point is 00:22:01 It happens. That's what it's built for. And guess what? It works. So we may have a TikTok refugee crisis. More refugee crises than we can point a finger at. And so we'll see what. what happens with the old TikTok.
Starting point is 00:22:22 And we may see TikTok refugees just wandering around, looking at their phone, not knowing what to do. Those are TikTok refugees if, you know, the app gets banned. I'd be a funny bit, people wandering around as TikTok refugees. And I know, don't even look at me. Is it crises or crises? You know, you be the judge. So, you know, the other day we talked about the French woman
Starting point is 00:22:45 that was scammed out of over $800,000 by someone, pretending to be Brad Pitt and we the scammer de-empted her on Instagram and convinced her with AI generated videos and edited images and she divorced her husband thinking that she was going to get together with Brad Pitt and then they convinced her that he had to get some kind of transplant a kidney surgery or kidney transplant and she gave him a bunch of money and because of his and he had a bunch of his money locked up because of his divorce with Angelina and and he needed money, and then she said she realized it was fake when Brad was on the news with a new girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Now, looking from the outside end, you think, wow, is that stupid? And how could you do that? But, you know, she got trolled big time. And she did this interview, this is how we know about it, she did this interview on French television channel TF1, and I'm, I mean, I can't tell you how much of a fan I am of the French television channel TF1. So she goes by the name Annie. And apparently, and this is, this is, I, you know, it's hard for me to believe that this actually happened.
Starting point is 00:23:59 She received a wave of mockery. Yeah, because a lot of people said, wow, that is stupid. And so are you for believing in that. So they broadcast this show one time on TF1. And then they were going to put it on their account. They were going to run it again in a couple other news shows. And they said, now we're going to do that now. Because of the wave of harassment against the witness.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Yeah, people were just, I'm sorry, it was the wave of mockery. They had to withdraw the interview from the platform. So they've pulled the entire thing. We still know about it. Their TF1. So, you know, I'm sure that the, I'm sure that the interview is still out there, but somewhere. It's the internet.
Starting point is 00:24:55 But they definitely pulled the interview, so we can't, it's not easily accessible because of the wave of mockery of Annie, who was deceived by these bastards. And she really thought she was going to hook up with Brad Pitt. Then she had to give them some money for kidney surgery. Then she realized, she realized it was not real. when Brad was on the news with a new girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I know, I know. I can't believe there was mockery of this woman. Boarding for Flight 246 to Toronto is delayed 50 minutes. What? Sounds like Ojo time. Play Ojo? Great idea. Feel the fun with all the latest slots in live casino games and with no wagering requirements.
Starting point is 00:25:53 What you win is yours to keep. Grooby. Hey, I won! Boating will begin when passenger Fisher is done celebration. 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close, you call 1-8665-3126-0 or visit Connexonterio.ca. So the California fires are still burning.
Starting point is 00:26:14 I know. They have not been put out yet. This morning when I did Mojo 5 with Brad, there were five. But when I went back to the Los Angeles Times Active Fire website, there's only four now. So I guess the one looks like the youngest one, the little mountain fire, is out or they just don't count it anymore because it's not there. So we still have the Palisades fire. 23,713 acres burned. That's been burning for nine days. 22% contained. Wow. The Eaton fire, 14,117 acres burned. That's been burning for nine days as well. 55% contained. The Hearst fire, that's been burning for nine days. So these three fires have been burning for nine days. Hurst fire, 799 acres have burned.
Starting point is 00:27:03 They're 98% contained. So the Hearst Fire is almost out. Good. And then the latest fire that's been burning for three days, the auto fire, that's burned 61 acres and that's 85% contained. So, I mean, that's, at least a couple of them are almost 100% contained,
Starting point is 00:27:22 which is good. Then I noticed on this map, this Los Angeles Times active fire map, there's an X in Arizona. And there's this fire in Arizona that's been burning for 30, 32 days. The Horton fire in Arizona. Now, it's only burned 8,346 acres only. And it's been burning, as I said, for 32 days. But it is 89% contained. So that wildfire in Arizona, that's almost out.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Sure, we've been fighting it for 32 days. But we've almost, we've almost got it. We have almost got it. So there's still, I mean, it's still just horrifying to look at the footage of what happened from these fires and how much damage it is done. But I still, I'm going to go out on a limb here. And we need some kind of oversight on what's going to happen with all this money. I talked about it yesterday. And then we get news that, you know, Disney and Warner Brothers have pledged 15 million. Amazon has pledged 10 million. Sony is given five million.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Paramount Fox and the Recording Academy each gave a million. I'd like to, you know, I don't know. I don't know. I know the CAA Foundation partnered with Corps and L.A.USD to launch the SoCal Fire Fund. So maybe there'll be some oversight on that money. Spectrum has committed $1 million in PSA airtime for relief efforts. Amazon has provided 145,000 plus essential items and deployed AWS technology for emergency response. Warner Brothers Discovery is supporting 1,300-plus impacted employees with emergency hotlines, temporary housing, and meals. But all these companies that are giving millions and millions of dollars, I hope there's some oversight.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I mean, I want the people to get the money and have the help, but I also don't want people like me, running the place and saying, well, you know, they gave us $100 million there. You know, and I'll take a few of a million here, and nobody will notice. That's why you need a place like Mercury 1 to help. If you feel like you want to help and you don't know how to help, you can donate to Mercury 1. 100% of the money that you donate to Mercury 1 goes to the disaster that they are helping or that you particularly point your money to. And that's, I mean, that's Mercury 1.
Starting point is 00:29:57 That's why we have the gala every year, because the gala pays everybody's salary and the bills, and that keeps the lights on your donations for the tragedies that happen around the world. That money, 100% of it, goes to help the victims. Mercury1.org. And you want to talk about people who pissed at the insurance companies for leaving, but there's still, you know, maybe not actual property insurance,
Starting point is 00:30:24 but there's certainly merchandise that these insurance companies are going to have to pay out, which will be hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions. As an example, I see where Hunter Biden claims it all, his paintings, 200 artworks.
Starting point is 00:30:39 It says here, nearly, not quite, nearly 200 artworks by Hunter Biden were destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires. And so they were stored in Pacific Palisades and they were insured for millions of dollars. So there's a potential claim there for Hunter Biden to get $30 million for his paintings because they claim that he's had paintings sold for a $1.5 million.
Starting point is 00:31:08 So he'll be getting a lot of money. But he's not alone while we laugh and we say it's Hunter and his artwork sucks. But it was insured and I'm sure that the insurance was paid up. And there's no way high. Hunter would try to, you know, sneak around and not pay insurance bills. Anyway, so, I mean, and other people are going to have their stuff insured as well. So, I mean, it's just, it's going to be a nightmare for a long, long time coming from these fires. That's for sure.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Okay, so I made it through American Prime Evil on Netflix, American Prime Evil on Netflix. And one of the stars in it is Shea Wiggam. Shea Wigham, who, you know, when you see him, you'll go, oh, yeah, him. He's definitely one of those actors that you see and you go, oh, yeah, him. I mean, as of 2020, he's been in a silver linings playbook, American Hustle, the Wolf of Wall Street, Vice, and the Joker. All of those are Oscar-nominated and Best Picture-nominated films. I mean, the guy is a working fool.
Starting point is 00:32:18 And he said, it's funny, one of the quotes that he talks about is, I never, I don't have a job. I don't say I have a job. I have a gig or a piece or a film or a show, but it's never a job. The ultimate thing is that you want to just keep working with the best. Yeah, and he is. There's no question about that. Anyway, one of the big stars in it is Tyler Kitch.
Starting point is 00:32:43 And I really enjoyed the show. It's six episodes. It's on Netflix. And I was a little disappointed. in the ending, just a little. And I don't want to spoil it for you, but I'm going to, okay? Because the first five and a half episodes, six episodes, first five episodes, really good.
Starting point is 00:33:11 A lot of violence, a lot of survival. I like where they went back and forth between the different places. You had the fort and the Mormons and the Indians. and then you had Derek helping the lady with her kid. And I just, I like the way that they went back and forth throughout the show. Then, this group of people who were after the woman and her, well, they were after the woman and her son, but really the woman because she had a bounty on her head.
Starting point is 00:33:40 And in those days, it started in 1854, I think, or 57, somewhere in there, in the 1850s. You know, so it was, that's when the country was free. and so we had you know they were going out west and this lady was bringing her son out west and she was claiming that she was bringing her son to her husband who went out there to work but really she was on the run because she was wanted for murdering her husband or a boyfriend or whatever the hell it was back in philadelphia or boston and so she came out west and that she's on her way so these guys are out bounty hunting her and it was like 1500 bucks in 1850
Starting point is 00:34:17 $1,500, that's a lot of money. I mean, I'd be happy to take $1,500 today. But back then, that's a lot of money. So, they're definitely, these guys are going out of their way to catch this woman. So then they fight the guys that are after them. They finally get
Starting point is 00:34:33 the, and Taylor kids, Isaac, he's this badass. He's the man. He's the man. And so they get the group that's after the lady and they show up and of course they kill the guys. except for one.
Starting point is 00:34:50 So I'm thinking the whole time, well, he would never, the whole buildup of the first five episodes is he would not leave the one guy behind. He just wouldn't. That's just not them. Neither would she. They wouldn't leave the one guy
Starting point is 00:35:05 who was after them behind alive. It just wouldn't happen. But they did. And so, of course, that guy's going to come back and haunt them at the very end. And so the love story that it ends up being
Starting point is 00:35:18 isn't necessarily the love story that you want. I don't know. It's just, I enjoyed the heck out of it. I did. Well worth of the watch. Six episodes,
Starting point is 00:35:30 American Prime Evil. And then I was looking at this other post from, if you like to be American Prime Evil, what shows would you, other series would you like? And the list is every show I've already seen. Hell on wheels.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Awesome. About the same time. timeframe as American Prime Evil. Deadwood, fantastic series and a final movie out of Deadwood. Godless, yep, loved Godless, that was fun.
Starting point is 00:36:00 1883, yep, loved it. 1923, I did like it, and we got a second 1923 coming out season two in February, about time. Frontier, I loved Frontier. That was an awesome
Starting point is 00:36:14 series, and that was in the late 1700s in well Canada but it was in the north and it was awesome that was fun that was with I think what's his face Jason Momoa right he was awesome they do name one here that I'm trying to remember if I
Starting point is 00:36:30 have seen it so maybe I haven't seen everyone well I looked at the list the English that's called it's a prime video they talk about an English revisionist Western drama creates by Hugo Blick 1890 follows an English one of when comes to America and West
Starting point is 00:36:46 revenge on a man responsible for her son's death. Emily Blanche. Maybe I don't know that I've seen this. Maybe I'll have to watch this. I'll let you know how the English is. But we'll see. But the rest of them, awesome and well worth the watch. And I think I would have to say hell on wheels is probably the best.
Starting point is 00:37:05 The entire series of Hell on Wheels takes you from the very beginning to the end and it covers a lot of ground and it wraps it all up in a nice boat. I think there's like seven seasons. It is awesome. But so is Deadwood. Deadwood is awesome, too. So those two series, if you have not seen them, you need to see them. Helen Wheels and Deadwood, tremendous.
Starting point is 00:37:34 With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. All right, let's see. The Supreme Court is busy. They haven't ruled on the TikTok ban yet. And they also had hearings to see if they were going to uphold the Texas law requiring age verification for porn websites.
Starting point is 00:38:15 So we'll see. I know that Justice Alito questioned whether Porn Hub was actually relevant articles like old school playboy. of course they are judge of course they are and is something that uh you didn't realize you needed to have in the world well you do genetically engineered mosquitoes with toxic semen are what you need why well it could be a new weapon against tropical disease uh this is being uh this is being put out there uh that we're going to have uh genetically engineered mosquitoes. Now we do have the genitalatically engineered mosquitoes, but I don't know that they all have toxic semen in them. So the toxic male technique aims to breed mosquitoes that express venomous
Starting point is 00:39:07 proteins in their semen, killing off the females after mating. So we still get a little mosquito business, but then the mosquito female dies. So female mosquitoes are targeted because only they bite and drink blood, thereby spreading diseases. such as malaria and dengue fever. And don't nobody want that. So if it takes a genetically engineered mosquito with toxic semen to get rid of malaria and dengue fever, so be it. Scientists Sam Beach from Australia's Macquarie University,
Starting point is 00:39:49 M-A-C-Q-U-A-R-I-E, Macquarie University, said the method could work as quickly as pesticides without also harming beneficial species. So which means the mosquitoes are not running around, taking care of a little bit with other animals. So this solution could transform how we manage pests, offering hope for healthier communities and, of course, a more sustainable future,
Starting point is 00:40:15 which is what every scientist is looking for. The first proof-of-concept trials used to fruit flies, which is common laboratory species. they're the rat of insects for its short two-week lifestyle life cycle. Female flies that bred
Starting point is 00:40:31 with toxic males had significantly reduced lifespan. Oh, so they have a little bit of it. Then they die. So be it. So, I mean, we've got to get rid of them. Look.
Starting point is 00:40:45 If it's going to help get rid of a spreading disease from these mosquitoes, I'm all for it. Go ahead. That's fine. I mean, the mosquito, apparently, according to this, has killed 50 million people over the course of human existence. Africa bears are the brunt of malaria.
Starting point is 00:41:03 95% of fatal cases recorded every year, and children under the age of five make up about 80% of those deaths. Mosquitoes are responsible for millions of yearly deaths worldwide from malaria, dengue fever, and other diseases. Doesn't list the other diseases, so whatever they are, I don't want them. Eastern equine encephalitis virus is also spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. That takes place here in the U.S. We're not talking about bears in Africa. So let's go. I'm all for my scientist researcher in Australia to create these genetically engineered mosquitoes with toxic semen.
Starting point is 00:41:43 I mean, this is the same kind of thing, kind of, that they were talking about they've already done with mosquitoes. Bill Gates was talking about this, right? That's what he, he has donated money or given money or funded this research because they wanted to have the genetically engineered mosquitoes that would transmit this. I guess it would be toxic semen. I don't know what they, but his gene killed the offspring before they reached adulthood. So they'd take care of. So they take care of a business and then the female would have offspring and then those offspring would die before they would bite people. This is taking care of the problem before that even happens, right? So we'll see, we'll see, but the idea is there. Well, is it going to affect the environment when we start
Starting point is 00:42:41 getting rid of all these mosquitoes? We'll worry about that when it happens. All right, let's get out of here. I'll leave you with the joke of the day. The joke of the day comes from William. This is his second joke of the week. William is working hard. I had writing jokes to become the joke of the day here on Chewing the Fat. He emails Chewing the Fat at the Blaze.com
Starting point is 00:43:02 and he's also may end up being on What's the Lie as well this new year. So we shall see. William is working hard to be a joke writer here on chewing the fat. He, like as I said, he emailed the show, and you can too, chewing the fat at the blaze.com. You can follow me on X at Jeffrey JFR.
Starting point is 00:43:24 You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram, which is Jeff Fisher Radio. You can follow me on YouTube, which is Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher. You can order a cameo from me at any time. That's at Jeffy JFR on Cameo. That, of course, is not free, but it's worth every darn penny at Jeffey jfr on cameo. But for sure, you can email the show Chewing the Fat at the Blaze.com. And I do see them all. I may not respond to all of them,
Starting point is 00:43:48 but I do see your emails. Thank you very much. And William, working hard, is working his fingers to the bone to get jokes of the day here on chewing the fat. So here's William's second joke of the week here on chewing the fat. I did my first nude painting last week. The neighbors were not happy, but the front door looks great.
