Another beef recall? The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service, FSIS, has issued a class one recall for several beef products due to concerns of potential E. coli contamination.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Now, it specifically concerns six ground beef products produced by Cargill meat solutions in Pennsylvania. So the recall is after discovering that a previously segregated product was mistakenly used in the production of the ground mince and burger patties. Oh, so it's only 16,243 pounds of raw beef that are believed to be affected. Now, this of course is taking place out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with the USDA, who have voluntarily recalled approximately 16,000 pounds of green ground beef products that may have been contaminated with E. coli. And just so you know, it's only in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Vermont, along with Washington, D.C. So if you live
Starting point is 00:01:55 those states, you might want to, you know, check your packaging or just take your meat back. And also remember that this recall is not linked to a separate E. coli outbreak across 19 states from products produced by Gibson Farms. So far, there are 12 illnesses that have been reported from consuming that contaminated product. So if you have dehydration, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps, you may be a victim of E. coli. Most people recover within a week or so. Severe complications can arise, especially in vulnerable groups such as young children under five and elderly adults. So be on the lookout and the hits keep coming. Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat. All right, I want to talk a little bit about drive-thru etiquette.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Drive-thru etiquette. Like, let's you say you have to go pick up a prescription at a pharmacy and you pull into the drive-through. You should know what prescription you need. If you're dropping off a prescription and you need to pick it up immediately, drop it off and then drive around, either go inside or wait the allotted amount of time that the pharmacy has told you that they will have it filled. You don't plan on just sitting in front of the drive-through window,
Starting point is 00:03:28 keeping people behind you blocked. Okay? So I'll use an example. Let's say I pulled into a pharmacy on Saturday morning, and there was already one car at the window, and I thought, okay, cool, the car's already at the window. That means, you know, the normal time it takes to pick up a prescription at a pharmacy window is, I would guess, probably like three minutes, right?
Starting point is 00:03:49 Unless you pull up, you know the prescription, you tell them a name, they give you the thing, you pay for it, and you're out. But three minutes of time. So if there's a slower response time, that comes from inside the pharmacy usually, right? So as I pull up, I stop behind the vehicle. And I'm there for about a minute,
Starting point is 00:04:11 and the door opens. And I thought, all right, cool. Nope. That meant that someone in the card had to put some form of card in the door, and then it was pulled in. I'm guessing now, at the end of it all that that was an ID but I don't know. It was some kind of card and then we sat there
Starting point is 00:04:30 and we sat there for another five or six minutes and then the door opened again and I thought okay cool and then another card was put in the door and it closed and I thought okay cool and then I see what looks like a lady I don't want to judge you know could be a man but it appeared to me a lady in this car. The door opened and I'm like, yes, finally. So we're at about six minutes now. And I'm already starting to get a little ticked. And you can't honk or anything.
Starting point is 00:05:01 It doesn't matter because they're doing business with the people inside. So, I mean, honking doesn't do you any good. You just got to sit there and be angry. And I could back out and pull out, except, no, I can't do that because in this time now, there are multiple cars behind me, at least three or four behind me in this line. because people are waiting to want to pick up their stuff. So as we sit there, then the door opens, and then I see the lady, again, assuming,
Starting point is 00:05:30 turn and start digging through her stuff in the car, which is either a giant purse or digging through the armrest or digging through whatever she has in her car, trying to find whatever it is. I'm guessing the amount of money that she needs to pay or find a different card or something because she's digging through all her stuff. stuff turning to talk to the person inside then turning back to dig through so whether she's making
Starting point is 00:05:57 some kind of excuses she can't find the money she can't find the card i don't know i don't know what the deal is but there's no this she finally digs out something puts it in the drawer turns digging rummaging through things again find some stuff puts it in the drawer finally the drawer closes again and then it takes a couple more minutes we're at about 10 minutes right now and i am like what the heck is happening. And the person in the car that's in front of the window doesn't put an arm up to say, sorry, and nothing just sits there and is looking inside at the pharmacy. Then finally, after 13 minutes, the door opens and the person grabs whatever merchandise
Starting point is 00:06:39 they were supposed to receive and grabs the merchandise. Then as she's sitting there, you can see her looking at the merchandise that's just been given to her from the door and she has to go through that we're already at like 14 and a half minutes 15 minutes and then she sets it off to the side and pulls away from the window I am just agonized right now at this point so we've got to talk a little drive-through etiquette okay if you have extra business to take care of at let's say I don't know a pharmacy and you should go inside. Very simple. Just go inside. And I know in today's world, sometimes it takes longer at these drive-thrus, and even inside, because they're understaffed, and so they're trying to, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:29 they're trying to make everyone happy and do the best they can. I got it. I understand. Sometimes it's frustrating. It's not always on that person at the drive-thru window sitting there for 15 minutes. And it was actually probably more than 15 minutes because they were already at the window. when I turned the corner to get into the line. So it was 15 minutes from the time I arrived. They were already there. So if you drop off a prescription, like I've dropped up, I'll give you an example.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I've dropped off a prescription that I know was, you know, I needed right then. And I said, you know, they said, well, give me like 10 or 15 minutes and we'll have it filled for you. And I'm like, okay, well, nobody's behind me. I'm going to sit right here. That makes them work faster because they know you're just, sitting right there at the window.
Starting point is 00:08:17 And they kind of look at you now, like, if somebody pulls up, I'll pull around. But for right now, I'm sitting right here because nobody's behind me. So you just make, I mean, you just sit there at the window. And they, you know, that makes them pick up the pace just a tad to get your prescription. And if somebody pulls up behind me, I pull around. And I stay in line. I just let that car pull up and I get behind them. So that when that car is done, I pull up, I'm right there at the window.
Starting point is 00:08:40 That's a little helpful hint. Now, again, like I said earlier, if you drop off your prescription and they say, say it'll be 10 or 15 minutes. You can sit there and wait, but a car is behind you, so you pull around. Or you pull off and park and wait for a few minutes and then get back into line, something like that, if it's a prescription that you need, right? Now, if you know that you have a prescription to pick up, perhaps you already have your method of payment ready to go.
Starting point is 00:09:07 So that when you get there and you say, hey, I'm Bill, and this is my prescription, and this is my birthday, and this is, you know, I'm ready to go. This is how much it is. And here's payment. Goodbye. Have a nice day. We're good to go. It's very simple.
Starting point is 00:09:20 This whole thing of searching for a method of payment, searching for a card, wasting time at this window is maddening. And you're ruining other people's lives is what you're doing. All right? You're frustrating other humans' lives. So be prepared. I don't care. We talk about being prepared.
Starting point is 00:09:39 This is what needs to happen at drive-thrues. Be prepared. Same with any really drive-thru. even if you're driving through a fast food joint, you're already there. You've made your order. Go to the window and pay. Don't look for the money by the time you get up to the window.
Starting point is 00:09:55 And when you're at the windows, don't start looking for the money. Be prepared to pay so that you can get on through. I realize that it's not always the driver's fault. I understand that. However, most of the time, it is. You know, speaking of being prepared, Maybe you should have some medicines ready to go in case you needed so you didn't have to wait in line at the pharmacy.
Starting point is 00:10:22 You should go to jacemedical.com. Now, when we talk about jacemdical.com, we talk about the Jace case. And there's 28 medications such as ivermectin, antibiotics, antimaleramids, anti-malariameds, epipens, and so much more. And there's supply chain issues with a lot of medications here in the United States. States in today's world that's really frustrating. There's no question about that. And I will say that it's probably going to get worse and there are drug shortages already. Right. I mean, healthcare experts have already pointed to shortages and that more are going to come. And that's why you need the Jace case. I mean, the antibiotics for emergency use. And it's very simple to get,
Starting point is 00:11:05 you fill out a simple form online and you'll have it there ready in case you need it. And there are you know, dozens of add-ons like it says. But I went to the Jacemedical.com website. And they also have a thing, we haven't talked about at all, called Jace Daily, 12-month extended supply of your current daily prescription meds. So if you have daily meds that you take and you've been taking for quite some time, you can get a year's supply. That's pretty awesome.
Starting point is 00:11:38 So go to Jacemedical.com for a emergency life-saving antibiotics or epipans or ivermectin and whatever you need just in case you need it whether you know travel or not but uh you want to be able to take care of yourself and that's what jace medical does that's empowering you to be able to take care of you and your family's health by you so check them out today jesmedical dot com enter the code jeffy at checkout for the discount on your order promo code jeffy at jacemedical.com. All right, let's go to the break room. I need something cold to drink desperately.
Starting point is 00:12:25 It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So, no, you can't get a nice rink on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Goaltenders, no, but chicken tenders. yes, because those are groceries, and we deliver those too. Along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Order Uber Eats now. For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. How about that Kentucky Derby, huh? The winner, Mystic Dan by a nose. I mean, it was three horses, photo finish.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Pretty amazing. It was the closest race since 1947. We talked last week that, A favorite has not won the Kentucky Derby since 2018, so it's been six or seven years since that. A Rich Strike won in 2022 with 80 to one odds. I will say I love that story because my son and I were watching, and we were all watching it in 2022,
Starting point is 00:13:29 and he picked Rich Strike and it won. He's been just bragging rights on the Kentucky Derby. So Mystic Dan won the Kentucky Derby in the photo finish. Mystic Dan takes home $3.1 million. Pretty incredible. The runner-up got a million in the third place, got $500,000. So it was another exciting Kentucky Derby. Yay!
Starting point is 00:13:51 I mean, 18 to 1 odds for Mystic Dan. Can he get the Triple Crown? I don't know. We shall see. But the favorite fierceness that got all locked up in the crowd and bumping and around and moving and I just couldn't get out of there and just was, I mean, didn't even end up in the top three. Ooh, not good. Oh, I didn't know this either.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Sierra Leone, The second place horse by the nose was the most expensive horse in the race at $2.3 million. Wow. Okay. That's a lot of money for a million to win. I mean, I'm sure they'll be happy to take the million dollars for second place. But it would have been nice to take that $3 million, wouldn't it? Yes.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Yes, it would. Congratulations are in order to another winner, France, who now has reclaimed. the world record of baking the largest baguette in the world. For the past five years, the bragging rights over the world's longest baguette has belonged to a small city in Italy, who held the world record. And people in France were not happy about that. So on Sunday, 12 bakers set out to rectify this, spending hours kneading, shaping, and baking their way back to victory. and it took them some 14 hours and their efforts were declared a success.
Starting point is 00:15:15 The world record for the longest Beckett had been broken. Yay, it's back home in France. The municipality of Serenis, I guess. S-U-R-E-S-N-E-S. Wow, that's almost a song. Anyway, the measures 140.53 meters. And I know for those of you that aren't familiar with the metric system, That's 470 feet.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I know 10,787 inches. So congratulations to the longest in the world. Now is back home to France and this small town outside of Paris. Some 13 hours after they began, they measured it. It was a world record. Yay! And then it was cut up and distributed between, the people there and people living on the streets.
Starting point is 00:16:12 So I hope people got filled up from the new world record, though, for the packet 140.53 meters. How about that Madonna show, huh? I know. I know. Now, they estimate 1.6 million people showed up at Rio's Copacabana Beach to watch the free Madonna concert. It's the final stop on her global celebration tour. Thank God it's over. According to Madonna's team, I'm sure that's what she's saying. It was her most attended show ever and ranks among the biggest live audiences for a show ever. The concert was like an era's tour stop on steroids.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Yeah, well, except that the Ares Tour was people paid to get in. Anyway, with fans streaming in from around the globe, the city welcomed an extra 170 flights to its airports. Copacabana hotel bookings were at 90% capacity, and an estimated $49.5 million was injected into the economy. So Copacabana Beach and Rio, thanks Madonna for her free show. And thankfully, we don't, and she's done. She's done with this tour. Okay. And I see where Mick Jagger, we talked about the Stones tour on board now, I see where they were playing
Starting point is 00:17:36 in Louisiana at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. And Jagger, of course, wants to throw out a bone to all the people that want to kill their babies with abortions. He just got done singing, you can't always get what you want. And then he said, he began talking about inclusion. And he said, we want to include him too, even if he wants to take us back to the Stone Age. And he's talking about Governor Jeff Landry and his, you know, as endorsing Trump, and they're going after a total abortion ban, and the prohibition on gender-affirming medical care.
Starting point is 00:18:17 And so the governor rang back at Mick, which I love. He posted on X, you can't always get what you want. The only person who might remember the Stone Age is Mick Jagger, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, who's 80 or will be 81. He says, love you, buddy. You're always welcome in Louisiana. And then he capped the post with hashtag love by country music. So, Mick, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:18:45 Stop it. Just quit the pandering. Do your songs and move on, will you? Bro. You know, I may have to go to the theaters next weekend. I may have to go see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. That opens up next weekend. I am looking forward to that.
Starting point is 00:19:02 I love the Planet of the Apes movies. and it opens up next week, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. That's kind of bad news for The Fall Guy, which was the number one movie this weekend, made $65.4 million globally, missing its $30 million domestic forecast by only bringing in $28.5 million. It's pretty close to the $30 million,
Starting point is 00:19:26 but that's below what they had said. I mean, it cost them $125 million to make. So we'll see if it has any kind of lasting impression. because next week, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is going to be number one, period. There's no doubt about that. Then he had the Star Wars Episode 1, Phantom Menace, the re-release, which got about 8.1 million domestic, 14.5 worldwide. Challenger's. To Ro, Godzilla and Kong still hanging in there.
Starting point is 00:19:54 At number 5 brought in another 4.5 million with a total 188 million globally. That's pretty good. Six weeks on the charts. Civil War. been on the charts for four weeks. That's up to about $62 million. That's a hit for A-24. Unsung Hero, not doing really well.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Although, you know, I mean, it got $3 million and total $13.1 million, but we'll see how it goes. Kung Fu Panda 4. Hanging in there. Kung Fu Panda 4 has been on the charts for nine weeks, and it's got $188.3 million globally. That's pretty good. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Well, no, I think that's domestic. 1008.8.3? That might be just domestic. I don't know, though. That sounds more global. Abigail, not quite sure why did you want to see that movie. They got 2.3 million. And Ghostbusters still hanging in there. That's their top 10, Frozen Empire. They brought in another 1.8 million. So good luck for the Fall Guy, because it got good cinema score and good favorable audience reception. But next week, ooh, sorry, buddy. The apes are common. be sure to follow me on social media at jeffy jfr on x jeff fisher radio on facebook and instagram you can follow me on

Starting point is 00:21:45 With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. Okay. Who died today? Who died today? Well, we have former Los Angeles Lakers draft pick. Darius Morris, 33, has died at his home in Los Angeles, or the Los Angeles area.
Starting point is 00:22:32 He was a Los Angeles native. He passed away at the age of 33. His family asked to please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. No cause of death. was given. Huh. So that's not interesting. Just a rest of peace. Darius Morris at the age of 33. Then we have Bernard Hill. Bernard Hill. Iconic actor. He was the captain and the Titanic. You know him from the Lord of the Rings. He had, I mean, the movies that he was in had 11 Academy awards. And he died at the age of 79.
Starting point is 00:23:17 No cause of death given. Okay. I mean, he was 79. I get that. But no cause of death given. Isn't it interesting? So rest in peace, actor Bernard Hill, dead at the age of 79. Then we have Frank Stella.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Frank Stella, the renowned painter and pioneer of minimalism, dead at the age of 80s. Now, he died at his home in Manhattan of lymphoma. Very sad. I don't wish that on anyone. He's one of the most influential American artists of his time. This is his, actually his manager speaking, but I believe that he actually was. He's a pioneer of the minimalist movement,
Starting point is 00:24:06 which I stated in the 60s. And he, you know, during that time in the 60s, painters, they all wanted to have, oh, this is my message. And his message was what you see is, what you see. So I actually like that of Frank a lot. So rest in peace, Frank Stella, dead at the age of 87. Then we have Britain's fattest man, Britain's fattest man dead at the age of 34. Now, he's believed to have died from organ failure. I don't know if it's because of that,
Starting point is 00:24:46 that caused the organ failure or it was the fatness, I just, I don't know. According to this, he weighed in an estimated 317 kilograms. I'm not sure what that makes him
Starting point is 00:25:02 in American. Well, actually, I am. That makes it 698.8.865 pounds. So he was just under 700 pounds. And very sad. Now, I will say that there was footage of him actually being craned out of his home.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Now, for those of us who have actually joked about wanting to be craned out of our home and have had songs made about being craned out of my home for Christmas, I will say that it didn't look like something you'd want to have done. But he was Britain's fattest man who has died from organ failure and obesity, dead at the age of 33. And we all know how deaths bring back memories. You know, you think of people all the time, and it brings back memories of them
Starting point is 00:25:57 and your relationship with them. Well, I follow a few social media accounts that talk about, you know, people who have already died. The history of death, past death. And a couple showed up in my timeline, and I was just flooded with all these memories, and I had, you know, things you had forgotten. Like Oliver Reed, who played Proximo in Gladiator,
Starting point is 00:26:20 who I love his character. I love the name Proximo. He was a great character. But, you know, he died during the filming of Gladiator, which I had forgotten all about. He had consumed three bottles of Captain Morgan's Jamaica rum, eight bottles of German beer, numerous cognates, and after challenging sailors from the HMS Cumberland to a drinking contest,
Starting point is 00:26:45 he then defeated several sailors in arm wrestling before he collapsed. They claim it was a heart attack. Pretty incredible. He had like a $600 bar bill. And what a great life he had had, too. He's been, I mean, it cost, cost the filming of Gladiare, it cost him a lot of money to recreate his face because he still had scenes to shoot in the movie.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And then it talks about how, in 1973, he was stabbed in the throat during a windmill duel scene, nearly died from that. In 63, in a bar fight, caused him, got facial cuts, and left him with a permanent scar, which he initially feared would put an end to his screen career, but it obviously did not. But he died on the 2nd of May 1999 of a heart attack. And then I see another one that makes the rounds that just brings all kinds of memories back. So January 5th, 2002, Charles J. Bishop, a high school student of East Lake High School in Tarpin Springs, Florida, stole a Cessna 172 light aircraft and crashed it into the side of the
Starting point is 00:27:58 Bank of America Tower in downtown Tampa, Florida. We were all in Tampa at the time. Myself, you know, Glenn, Stu, we were all doing separate shows and our shows together every day. And this was in Tampa. It was after, you know, September. 11th so we thought oh here we go here we go again it didn't turn i mean he was just uh on uh medicine that made him go crazy he was on a zit medicine right i think that's what they ended up doing but my point
Starting point is 00:28:27 of this is is that we were on the air we were doing a special and this obviously we had a plane crash things were shut down in tampa that's this is the same day january 5th 2002 that my son my oldest son almost well he did really cut all his fingers aside from his thumb off of his left hand on the back gate of our building at the time in Tampa 4002 Gandy Boulevard because we were there to do a special we were all off and Stu was doing his stupid show I got called in I was going to do a stupid show that night covering live coverage of this we were all we were live 24-7 going on this we got you know it was a terrorist attack in Tampa obviously it ended up not being that but at the time we didn't know and had gone in and I was
Starting point is 00:29:13 home so I brought the kids with me and Elvis was with me and I had a little little maximus at the time you know from gladiator hello and uh so you know we were all there and my son Elvis was out skateboarding and riding on that back fence and a guy came in and said I think you ought to go check on your son now something happened and I went into the bathroom and he's the bathroom with his fingers hanging off his hand from putting it up at the top of the fence and it rolled under this giant metal wheel and uh what saved him is he pulled his hand out instead of let it ride through. And so, I mean, he had pin sticking out of his fingers forever. It was just horrible. But I was just saying that's the day, which brings back every time I see a post
Starting point is 00:29:55 about January 5th, 2002, I know. Oh my gosh. That's the date. I probably couldn't. If you were asked me, hey, what's the date your son? Almost had his fingers cut off. Probably couldn't tell you. But when I see a story talking about Charles Bishop, the high school kid, flying the airplane that stole into the building in Tampa, Florida. Yeah, that's January 50s out of the two. That's the day. This episode is brought to you by Peloton. A new era of fitness is here.

Starting point is 00:30:56 lift, flow, and go. Explore the new Peloton cross-training tread plus at one peloton.ca. Congratulations to the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid. He just signed a new deal. Five years, $100 million. That's incredible. It's a second $100 million coach contract in NFL history. The first was John Gruden when he signed with the Raiders.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Don't want to try to make comparisons with that deal, because Gruden was out on his ear. But apparently the chiefs ripped up the last two years of Reed's existing contract and signed him to this new deal, $100 million over five years. And so this contract runs through the 2028 season and expires after the Super Bowl
Starting point is 00:31:43 in February of 20209. So congratulations to Andy Reed. Five years, $100 million. That's a pretty good deal. Now, if you're not Andy Reid, Reed, I guess you could win the lotto, right? So if we looked at the, I don't think anyone's won the Powerball or the Mega for quite a while now. So let's take a look at the Powerball.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Yeah, they have a drawing tonight, for those of you listening live, today is the 6th of May, 2024. You have a Powerball drawing of $214 million jackpot, $99.7 million cash payout. So you have an opportunity. That's darn close to $100 million. And then tomorrow, the 7. We have the mega millions drawing, $306 million jackpot, cash option of $140.1 million.
Starting point is 00:32:35 So, I mean, we got that going for us. And I also found that I think it's a new law now that any kind of press mentions Caitlin Clark, they have to mention Angel Reese. I'll let you figure out why that is, because over the weekend was the first appearances on the WNBA courts preseason. Yay, preseason.
Starting point is 00:32:55 NBA and Clark scored 21 points for Indiana Fever, sold out game. Was it sold out where Angel Reese played? I don't think so, but she scored 13 points for the Chicago Sky. Neither one of their teams won. But I just want you to know that pay attention because whenever there's a story about Caitlin Clark from this point on has to mention Angel Reese in the same story. I don't know why. I'll let you.
Starting point is 00:33:23 And I do know why. in my mind, I know why. I'll let you figure out your own reason why. And speaking of that, I don't think they got the message. I see a story about the Met Gala is tonight. And, you know, it's like $75,000 a ticket. And it's a, you know, fundraiser. And what's her face, picks whoever gets to be invited.
Starting point is 00:33:45 You know, what's her face? And a win to her. She gets to pick whoever gets invited. Anyway, I'm reading the story about the Met Gala. And it talks about how, you know, Zendaya is going to be there, and maybe Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny. And in the rumor mill that speculated that Sam Altman, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey might show up,
Starting point is 00:34:11 Caitlin Clark might show up. It didn't mention Angel Reese. And so, I mean, I doubt, I have no reason to believe that Caitlin Clark would be, wanting to go to the Met Gala. However, it's a law that when you mention Caitlin Clark, you have to mention Angel Reese. And this story about the Met Gala did not follow that rule.
Starting point is 00:34:36 I guess congratulations are in order to 19 new Presidential Medal of Freedom Honors. President Biden gave out the award on Friday to these 19 people. It's the Presidential Medal of Freedom Honor. Yay! Gosh, Gregory Boyle, who founded Homeboy Industries to Representative James E. Clyburn. Oh, geez. I gave one to Elizabeth Dole.

Starting point is 00:35:53 I believe we gave one to Al Gore Clarence Jones the lawyer and long-time civil rights activist who helped Martin Luther King Jr. His landmark, I have a dream speech. John Kerry got one. He gave one to John Kerry. Oh my gosh. Frank
Starting point is 00:36:09 Loddenberg, the Democrat who served five-term senator from Jersey, just another one of Biden's butt buddies. Katie Ledecky, the swimmer, 1-7 Olympic gold medals, 21 World championship gold medals. I mean, that's pretty huge for us. Yeah, I mean, okay, as you know, she's Mexican immigrants, granddaughter of Mexican immigrants. Okay, Nancy Pelosi. She, oh, what a nightmare. Jane Rigby, the NASA astrophysicist, senior project scientist. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:37:00 She's from Delaware, so Biden had to, you know, give her a little bit of love. Teresa Romero, the president of the United Farm Workers. Oh, my gosh. They are, they are a nightmare in themselves. She's the first Latino woman
Starting point is 00:37:17 to lead a national union in the United States. Aw. And she's made life better for, for thousands of farm workers. Has she? Has she? Okay. Judy Shepard, she co-founded an organization to reduce hate crimes with her son Matthew,
Starting point is 00:37:33 who was killed in a violent anti-gay attack in Laramie, Wyoming. Her foundation, she began instrumental in 2009 passage of the Matthew Shepard and James Bird, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. That's good. Because we all, we didn't know that it was, uh, violent crime to attack me. Anyway, don't get me. I got it. Jim Thorpe, the first Native American to win an Olympic gold medal became a Hall of Fame football player. I'm actually surprised he doesn't have one already. Jim Thorpe, well, well deserved, but not from Joe Biden. I'll tell you that.
Starting point is 00:38:09 And Michelle Yo, the actress, she was in the big, you know, everything everywhere all at once. She shattered stereotypes and glass ceilings to enrich, enhance American culture. Did she? Anyway, congratulations to all 19 new members of the presidential. What is it called again? Yeah, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Congratulations to all the new Medal of Freedom honorees. No, I mean that.
Starting point is 00:38:41 I mean that. Oh boy, and heads up. Heads up to the skies tonight, the 6th of May, a 2024, as we stated earlier in the show, Boeing is planning to launch a starliner capsule that's going to ferry two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station. It is a vehicle that has never carried a human crew on board before. And you heard me, it was made by Boeing. Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:39:16 They need some good press desperately. So about a decade ago was when NASA awarded billions of dollars in contracts to Boeing and SpaceX to fill in for the retired space shuttle program and ferry its astronauts to the ISS. Only Elon Musk Company apparently understood the assignment. He's flowed nine crew flights for NASA since 2020, not to mention all the private astronauts and his own SpaceX rockets. rockets and satellites into space. But Boeing has launched two Starliner test flights, neither of which carried people. And it turned out to be a good thing.
Starting point is 00:39:59 One of them, the test runs, the computer on board the spacecraft was 11 hours off, leading to chaos. Huh, that's weird. So if the Star-Leyer data, we're looking to the skies, we don't know what's happening. NASA administrator Bill Nelson is confident in Star- liner saying this is a clean spaceship. It's ready to launch. Lift off is scheduled at 10.34 p.m.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Eastern time from Cape Canaveral tonight. If you are listening to this before that time, I will let you know, though, tomorrow on the 7th of May how this launch happened. I don't wish ill on anyone, but I would be a little nervous flying in a Boeing Starliner. Is that just me? I think it is. No, it's not? Okay.
