Starting point is 00:00:22 19 plus Ontario only. Please play responsibly. Concerned by your gambling or that if someone close, you call 186653300 or visit Comex Ontario.com. Blaze Radio Network And now, chewing the fat with Jeff Fisher. What is going on at Miss Teen USA? And really Miss USA as well. So last week, we had Miss USA step down. She gave up her crown due to mental health issues.
Starting point is 00:00:52 That's what she said. And then we also had Miss Teen USA step down saying that her personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization. We talked about that as well. And they've had plenty of controversy at both Miss USA slash Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe organizations. They can't seem to escape the controversy. Well, now the runner up, Miss Teen New York, who I congratulated here on Chewing the Fat for now being Miss Teen USA. No.
Starting point is 00:01:26 She said, I don't want your crown either. What is happening? She said I ultimately came to the decision to decline it. I didn't feel like it was the right decision considering all the circumstances. Wait, what? Then we found out that the social media manager for the Miss USA organization, this Claudia Michelle, also resigned from her post. And we find out that a lot of these women had been,
Starting point is 00:02:00 bullied by the CEO, Layla Rose. Now, Skinner 19 from New York, who was the runner-up, she posted some long post on Instagram, declining, becoming the queen or the head of the pageant, Miss Teen USA. But I was reading on what was happening behind the scenes. So the mental health issues that the girl was talking about, they claimed that she woke up every day on pins and needles
Starting point is 00:02:28 because of harassing emails. Don't do this, don't do that. Take that post down. Unlike that post, you can't speak to anybody. Remember your NDA? You can't go here unless we confirm. She was being micromanaged every day on everything she did, and she just couldn't take it anymore.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Now we find out that their television contract may be up. CW Network is evaluating its relationship with both pageants. Oh, interesting. So, I mean, we have the whole thing divided and going crazy. I will say at least Miss Hawaii, the 28-year-old Savannah Gankowitz, was the runner-up to Miss USA. She said, yeah, I'm taking the crown. Sorry about you stepping down, but I'm still taking it. And we'll see if they still exist.
Starting point is 00:03:25 in a year because it certainly sounds like things are falling apart quickly at the Miss USA slash Teen USA slash Miss Universe pageants. Welcome. Welcome to Chewing the Fat. A couple other foundations are starting to crumble as well. Melinda French Gates, you know her,
Starting point is 00:03:58 X of Bill Gates has now said she's going to be stepping down from her role at the helm of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Oh, I mean, that's your deal, right? You co-founded it with Bill. Yeah, I'm done with it. I'm going to be walking away with an additional $12.5 billion from Bill's pocket to commit to my own charity work on behalf of women and families. I mean, they've been divorced for three years now, and they said that they were going to remain co-chairs of the foundation. Uh-huh. And that has a $75 billion endowment. Wow.
Starting point is 00:04:39 At least for the next two years, I guess. It's funded by Bill and, you know, Warren Buffett is a donor. And they're proud to say, well, over the years, we've dispersed over 77 billion to combat diseases, advance education, and improve sanitation and low-income. countries. So we're happy about that. So, I mean, since the divorce, the org has had many employees worried because Bill and Melinda are not getting along at all. So Melinda is, I'm sorry, French Gates. She has founded a separate charity called Pivotal Ventures. And that promotes gender equality in the U.S., oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:05:29 And they provide grants and nonprofits and to other nonprofits. And that's wonderful. I will like to say, I believe in gender equality as well, Melinda. So if you'd like to donate, you know, a couple of billion to chewing the fat charity, I'm willing to take that. But we'll see how long the old Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation lasts. I don't know. I guess it's going to be called now just the Gates Foundation.
Starting point is 00:05:56 which it probably should have been called that after the divorce anyway, but it will be called that now. So we'll see how well that goes the next couple of years. Then we find out that Prince Harry and Megan, speaking of charities, having issues, they have Archwell Foundation. And apparently they forgot to pay their bills to the state of California. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:23 So their Archwell is now. listed as delinquent with the registry of charities. And so they can't fundraise any money anymore until they pay the registration fee. That's kind of agonizing to me to pay the state to be able to fundraise to give to charity. But, you know, that's the world we live in now. So they also may be subject to penalties. And the registration could be suspended or revoked. Yeah, they're not going to revoke it.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Okay. They're just going to pay us the money that you owe to be. a foundation in good standing. And you know what? We'll take an extra fine too. And then you can go ahead and continue to raise money. But it is interesting that they, did they just forget to pay the bill?
Starting point is 00:07:10 Was it something that we weren't aware of? Just really weird. Now they claim that, look, we sent the check. And we don't know what's going on. And so they say that they didn't get it. So you know what? We sent another check. and we'll see what happens with that.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Because that works every time. Wait, you didn't get my check? Oh, well, gosh darn it. I'll have to send another one. So we'll see if the, I mean, they're over in Africa, or at least they were, right? He was going to London for his Invictus games. Dad was too busy to see him.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And then they were off to Africa. They had to go to Nigeria. because I guess Megan, after her blood test, it showed that her 43% Nigerian blood makes her, that's her motherland now. So Nigeria treated them
Starting point is 00:08:09 to the, I guess, the royal tour that isn't technically a royal tour. But we'll see what happens with the old Archwell Foundation. Because they have Archwell audio and Archwell Productions. Those are for profit businesses.
Starting point is 00:08:25 I don't know. how well those are going these days either. But the nonprofit definitely cannot raise money, at least in California, until they, I don't know, send the right check. Okay, the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is right around the corner. By the way, June 1st is the first day of hurricane season. And it is likely to be destructive and costly. And it has the potential to be one of the most active on a record.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Meteorologists have called for 20,000. name storms with winds of 39 miles per hour or more, 11 hurricanes with winds up to 70 miles an hour. And this should put you in mind of, I don't know, stocking up critical medical supplies for emergency situations. No matter what, whether you live in Hurricane Alley or not, you should be prepared for emergency situations. There is something you can do to ensure you and your loved ones have medications on hand when needed. It's a solution that thousands of people have already discovered. It's called the Jace case. It provides five life-saving antibiotics for emergency use.
Starting point is 00:09:36 All you have to do is fill out a simple form online, and you'll have it there ready in case you need it. There are dozens of add-on options as well, like Epipens and Ivermectin. Jace Medical is empowering people just like you to be able to take your family's health into your own hands. Check them out today. Jacemedical.com. You know, I was looking at jesmedical.com and they have an opportunity there
Starting point is 00:10:03 for a free e-book. You can sign up for and it will help you build an inexpensive 72-hour kit. Plus, you know, we talk about the emergency Jace case with the five life-saving antibiotics for emergency use and you could possibly have your epipan and your Ivermectin. But they also have
Starting point is 00:10:24 what's called the Jace Daily. And it's a 12-month extended supply of your current daily prescription meds. Just amazing stuff that they're doing at Jace Medical. So check them out today. Go to jace.com. Enter the code Jeffie at checkout
Starting point is 00:10:40 for a discount on your order. Promocode Jeffie at J-A-S-E.com. With Amex Platinum, $400 in annual credits for travel and dining, means you not only satisfy your travel bug, but your taste buds too. That's the powerful backing of Amex. Conditions apply. So we talked about it yesterday that it was possible it was going to happen, and it did.
Starting point is 00:11:20 The Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge wreckage was demolished in a controlled explosion after being delayed because there was a storm and lightning and other issues this past weekend. So it took place yesterday afternoon. And, you know, it sounded a little something like this. And down it went, man. Into, yeah, I know, into the river. Pretty incredible. And so they believe now that this will allow the cranes to remove what's left of these sections of the bridge
Starting point is 00:12:03 and ultimately remove the ship so that they'll allow the cranes to remove what's left of these sections of the bridge and ultimately remove the ship. so that they can open up the lanes of the port for ships to get in and out. So hopefully in a couple of days they'll be able to move the ship and get it back to the docks. And we found out yesterday that the crew of the Dolly were still on the ship. They are not allowed to leave. Sorry about it. You're not going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:12:32 You're staying on the ship. Oh, okay, no problem. We also, I mentioned yesterday that I thought that they still were looking for one of the workers that was killed and drowned when the bridge collapsed. And they have found all six construction workers who were on the bridge. They found the last one a few days ago. and he was he had moved to the united states from guatemala i don't know that he was legal but he was working uh you know filling potholes on the bridge all the victims were latino immigrants but the last one was uh named jose minor lopez 37 rest in peace sir but he had moved here from guatemala now during a vigil last
Starting point is 00:13:27 month honoring the victims whose families were still awaiting closure, mourners used a crane to hoist the Guatemalan flag in his memory. He was living in the United States. I don't know that I, I mean, I kind of, I kind of irks me a little. But hey, rest and peace to all the Latino immigrants who were working on the overnight shift filling potholes on the bridge. It could have been so much worse and the police were able to stop the traffic moments before the collapse but they didn't have enough time to alert the workers very sad but it could have been so much worse uh and it wasn't so i guess we have to we have to thank the lord above that it wasn't as bad as it could have been all right let's go to the break room i need something cold to drink desperately so target you know them
Starting point is 00:14:28 you love them. They've announced that they will only sell Pride Month collection in select stores after suffering a backlash and boycott last year during the 2023 Pride season. Well, we have Pride season just around the corner, as a matter of fact. Not only is June the beginning of Hurricane season, it was also the beginning of Pride Month. So we can't have a Target store without Pride Month collection merchandise, can we? well, yeah, look, the Pride Month collection merchandise will not be available through all stores.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Wait, what? Yeah, it'll be available on Target.com and in select stores based on historical sales performance. So if a store sold a lot of Pride Month merchandise, you'll still have Pride Month merchandise at those stores, but not at every store. Now, if you can still go to Target.com, Tiger says they're making other plans to celebrate Pride Month.
Starting point is 00:15:30 They're still going to celebrate. Hey, don't be boycotting us. Oh, wait, it's the other people that are against the Pride Month that are boycotting them. Yeah. So you can still please shop at us, but we're doing other ways. We're going to have a presence at local pride events in Minneapolis. Yeah, that's where they're headquartered. We know.
Starting point is 00:15:51 And beyond our own teams, we'll have a presence at local pride events around the country as we continue to support a number of LGBTQIA plus organizations. Additionally, we'll offer a collection of products for pride, including adult apparel, home products, food and beverage, which has been curated based on guest insights and consumer research. These items starting at $3 will be available at select stores and of course always at Target.com. You know, they suffered backlash in there.
Starting point is 00:16:24 They're still, they're still reeling a little bit. from that backlash. Ha! And they pulled it out of their stores, too. Now, for, now they claimed that for more than a decade, Target has offered an assortment of products aimed at celebrating Pride Month.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Yeah, I feel like maybe that's true, but it wasn't as prominent as it was last year. And so, I mean, they wanted to put it right there on the front of the stores last year. And that's what created a little bit more of the issue for the LGBTQI. plus hating people.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Because those people don't necessarily hate the Pride Months celebration or the LGBTQIA plus community. We just don't want it. And I say we. I don't, you know, whatever. I haven't shopped at Target in a long, long time. So whatever was in the front of the store at a Target, I, you know, what do you do? You do you, boo.
Starting point is 00:17:18 But they claim that, uh, the employees were threatened. Because it said, we've experienced threats impacting our team members' sense of safety and well-being at work. Yeah, okay. Given these volatile circumstances, we're making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior. Oh, okay. That would be not necessarily having all the stuff right there in the lobby when you walk in. But you can still get any merchandise. you need at Target.com.
Starting point is 00:17:58 So Pride Month celebration still continues at Target. I mean, they want to be sure that you understand that Target is committed to supporting the LGBTQIA plus community during Pride Month and year round. Most importantly, they want to create a welcoming and supportive environment for their LGBTQ plus, I'm sorry, whoa, for their LGBTQIA plus team members, which reflects our culture of care for over 400,000 people who work at Target.
Starting point is 00:18:32 And we have long offered benefits and resources for the community, and we will have internal programs to celebrate Pride 2024. You see where they took down a billboard in Times Square, which is amazing that we actually care about what's on the billboard in Times Square. So the image was of this Molly Bad, She's a cookbook author. And the billboard was of her pregnant belly exposed and her breasts covered with, I don't know, a little rhinestone bikini top and two oatmeal cookies floated, you know, in front of her breasts. And it was a digital billboard, 45 feet tall.
Starting point is 00:19:16 And it was, they're celebrating Baz's lactation cookies. Yum. Just add milk. So it was a partnership with the breastfeeding startup, S-W-E-H-L. And it was supposed to be up for a week, Monday through Mother's Day, playing for the first minute of every hour. But three days later, it was pulled from the signs rotation. Yeah, a clear channel spokesman said that they had violated guidelines on acceptable content. wait what it did is this the same billboard that shows uh skims underwear and michael coors and
Starting point is 00:20:02 uh victoria secret is that that's the same it's the same billboard yeah so i guess we still a sexualized breast is okay but a nursing or lactating one is not now i'm not saying that we should all have breast milk cookies who she is No question with swell, but it is kind of interesting that that is where we draw the line. Isn't it? I bet you Target could have an LGBTQIA plus ad on that billboard in a heartbeat celebrating Pride Month. But don't you dare have a woman pregnant with cookies over her breast telling you that you should buy breast milk cookies? No, we cannot have that.
Starting point is 00:20:53 do it. And kind of good news for Elon, you know, the head guy of X, yeah, and Tesla and SpaceX, that guy, one of the richest men on the planet. Yeah, he scored a victory against the Australian government when the court refused to extend an injection forcing X to take down videos of a stabbing in church. Good, because it's actually happened. We need to actually see footage from actual news clips. It's just incredible. And Australia is turning into, well, I mean, they have been, but they are turning into more of a nightmare on social media. So this is a good victory.
Starting point is 00:21:32 Speaking of social media, you can follow me on my ex account at Jeffrey JFR. Facebook and Instagram is Jeff Fisher Radio. You can follow me on my YouTube channel, Chewing the Fat with Jeff Fisher. You can email the show anytime chewing the fat at the blaze.com, and you can always order a cameo from me, which is not free, but that's the way cameo works. and go to the Cameo app at Jeffey JFR and just let me know whether you want me to be happy, glad, sad, mad, mean.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And that's what I'll do. On Cameo, I am kind of like the trained monkey. So it's what it's there for. And I see where TikTok said they're going to start labeling AI generated content in an attempt to what they say is going to combat misinformation. But so we're going to trust them to tell us what's AI generated. generated content. Okay, sure, no problem. I got you. I believe everything that you tell us. And a couple of new shows in the works I see where Warner Brothers announced that it's going to release
Starting point is 00:22:32 a new Lord of the Rings movie in 2026, produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Andy Circus, who played Gallum in the original trilogy. So we'll see if that works out to be well. And Michelle Yo is set to star in Blade Runner 2099. I don't know if that's going to, it's Blade Runner 2,09. I don't know how we're supposed to say it. We'll just say Blade Runner 2099. It's a prime video sequel series to Blade Runner 2049. And production, I guess, is underway already.
Starting point is 00:23:08 So we'll see if that works out. I kind of like the idea. Well, so we'll see if they actually pull it off, Blade Runner, 2009. It's hockey season, and you can get anything you need delivered with Uber Eats. Well, almost, almost anything. So no, you can't get a nice rank on Uber Eats. But iced tea, ice cream, or just plain old ice? Yes, we deliver those. Gold tenders, no, but chicken tenders, yes, because those are groceries, and we deliver those too, along with your favorite restaurant food, alcohol, and other everyday essentials. Order Uber Eats now.
Starting point is 00:23:55 For alcohol, you must be legal drinking age. Please enjoy responsibly. Product availability varies by region. See app for details. There are those who lead, and then there are those who follow. And when it's time for you to buy or sell a house, especially in this housing market, the type of person you need is the former, not the latter. A number of years ago, Glenn, you know, G-L-E-N-N-B-E-C-K, I got so fed up with the follower types, not to mention the fake leader types who didn't know what they were doing. He decided to do something about it. And he started real estate agents I trust because he didn't want you, going through all the same hassles he had to every time he moved.
Starting point is 00:24:38 And real estate agents, I trust, pairs you with the best real estate agents in your area. Someone who knows the best practices, someone who understands the crazy housing market, someone who's a team leader and a closer, someone you can trust. So if you're thinking about buying or selling a home or both, get in touch with them. You'll see exactly what I mean. I mean, real estate agents I trust. That's the name, hello, pretty much says it all. Real estate agents, I trust.com.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Go to real estate agents I trust.com. I mean, really, there's so many little things that can make you a lot of money or lose you a lot of money. So it's important to know what those things are. And that's where real estate agents I trust comes in. So real estate agents I trust.com. Who died today? Who died today? I am very sad to announce the death of David Sanborn.
Starting point is 00:25:39 David Sanborn. I love David Sanborn. He's the renowned jazz saxophonist, dead at the age of 78. This guy, I've seen him live a couple of times. He's played on all kinds of people's albums, just huge. And I'm very sad that David has passed away at the age of. of 78. I did not know that he was battling prostate cancer for the past few years. David and I weren't close the last couple of years. I love David. I loved his work. It was just
Starting point is 00:26:17 awesome and very sad that he had passed away. Plus, as I said, we weren't that close the last few years. And I mean, he's won six Grammys, right? And so I did not know that he was doing a podcast. Of course, doing a podcast called As We Speak. And he was also doing a syndicated radio program called The Jazz Show. And he was doing a YouTube series called Sandborn Sessions with his nephew and brother-in-law. I will, I'm going to have to go and find and listen to some of that because I did not know that that was actually something I could listen to until now. And now we lost him. So, I mean, he's been, he was been with all the big artists he's been on there.
Starting point is 00:27:02 albums and done work with them on stage and in the studio. So rest in peace, very sad. David Sandborn, dead at the age of 78. Then we have Richard Rick Slaman. Richard Rick Slaman, 62. Dead. Rest in peace, Rick Slaman. Now, Rick had been suffering with end stage kidney disease before being, uh,
Starting point is 00:27:32 the recipient of a modified pig kidney transplant. Now, he had this transplant and it looked like everything was fine, well, until it wasn't. And he had it for two months. And then he passed away. Now, the doctors say that there's no indication his death was a result of the transplant. Wait, what? I thought he was, I mean, he was at end stage kidney disease.
Starting point is 00:27:58 And you put the new pig kidney in him. But now something else killed him? Right. Okay. Oh, wait. He had suffered from type 2 diabetes and hypertension. He had a human kidney transplant, but it began to fail after five years, and then he got his pig kidney transplant, and his doctors confirmed he no longer needed dialysis after
Starting point is 00:28:20 the new organ was said to be functioning well. But then he passed away. So there's no indication that this death was a result of the transplant, and I won't hear of it. I won't hear of you thinking that there was something to do with the pig kidney transplant, okay? Massachusetts General Hospital said there's no indication and damn it there's no indication. So rest in peace, Richard Rick Sleiman, at the age of 62, dead. Don't, I won't hear of it.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Don't talk to me about how that pig kidney transplant was the cause of his death because we won't hear of it. All right? Just it's not true. Okay, whatever you say. Well, speaking to animals, though, we do have very sad news that Godzilla, the morbidly obese monkey has died at the age of six, which according to doctors, is just a short lifespan for these macaque monkeys. they usually live into their 30s, I guess. But I guess Godzilla had thyroid disease, diabetes, Cushing syndrome, or overproduction of the stress hormone, cortisol,
Starting point is 00:29:39 all of which contributed to his shortened lifespan. And having that been said, Godzilla is dead. Yeah. All his fans and people being nice to him, feeding him, He was too fat. And he just continued to eat. I know. Before his death, I mean, a couple years ago, they took him to a fat camp.
Starting point is 00:30:08 I did not know that there was a macaque monkey fat camp, but there was. And he was put on a rigorous diet. And Godzilla was not having any of that. He was like, no. I want my food. I want my chocolates. I want to be out there in the market where my owner has me. other people can feed me whatever they want and that's what they did so uh they felt like they had to
Starting point is 00:30:33 rescue him but it was too late and so now uh he just continued to eat and uh they took him to the hospital and uh he was bloated he's going to be cremated and returned to his previous caretaker uh who to whom he was seized three years ago the previous caretaker couldn't even have him for the last three years but it really didn't work i mean they talk about how they put him on a strict diet of dill lettuce, crickets, worms, sunflower seeds, and other nutritious foods? No, it didn't
Starting point is 00:31:04 work. And the family, hey, were able to come and visit him. And, I mean, remember, he shot to fame because he was of a video where shoppers then ended up coming to the place there in the market and fed him. And he always wore
Starting point is 00:31:20 tight fitting t-shirts. Well, that's because he was fat. But, so it was illegal for the come for the family to keep him but they had him forever and they didn't care but then they had him taken away and so it still didn't work they tried to save him now we'll say that uh he did he did need to go on my 600 pound life because there was a serious issue with Godzilla the macaque monkey who was seriously overweight now there's another fatty monkey in Thailand
Starting point is 00:31:58 called Uncle Fatty and I think he's even bigger than Godzilla so it's an issue it's an issue with monkeys and humans so good luck if you're feeling that way go on a strict diet. Dill lettuce
Starting point is 00:32:14 crickets, crickets, worms, sunflower seeds and of course other nutritious foods. It might not work but hey you'll be eating better so rest in peace Godzilla the macaquebuck dead at the age of six. This episode is brought to you by Peloton.

Reminder, for those of you listening live, today is the 14th of May, 2024,
Starting point is 00:33:19 and the Caitlin Clark era begins in the WNBA. So she's had a few preseason games that have drawn huge crowds, but the regular season starts tonight as Indiana, her team, visits Connecticut courtside. Tickets are selling for close to 5,000. $1,000. So you've got the NBA and the Indian Hale playoffs. NFL is releasing its schedule.
Starting point is 00:33:48 We know the first game is going to be Baltimore at Kansas City. It should be huge. And then the second game is in Brazil with Green Bay and Philadelphia. But no matter, the Caitlin Clark will suit up to play her first regular season pro game for the Indiana Fever tonight at the sold-out mode. Higin Sun Arena. Just incredible. She's been drawing historic crowds for the college at the University of Iowa, and now she's already drawing huge crowds at the WNBA.
Starting point is 00:34:21 It hasn't even started yet. And the WNBA Commissioner, Kathy Engelberg, said the league is looking to double the NBA's $60 million TV rights deal when it ends in 2025, which would allow for player salary increases. And since Caitlin's arrival, They have a full-time charter flights for teams this season, breaking that, you know, economy plus deal that they had. Ticket sales for WNBA games are up 93% on average from last year,
Starting point is 00:34:50 which, you know, if they were selling 40, now it's 80. And 36 of the Fever's 40 regular season games will air nationally compared to just one last year. So the Caitlin Clark era is in full force. ESPN is broadcasting the game nationwide and will use a WNBA finals-level production setup underscoring the high viewership expectations for Clark's debut. So you can catch that tonight. Awesome. I mean, look, she's changed the way people look at the WNBA.
Starting point is 00:35:26 And I know we're having our race issues and, oh, it's just another white person drawing attention. Yes, it is. And be thankful. And I saw the ad where they have some of the WNBA stars. and had their deal with the Kardashians skim's underwear. I saw it on Instagram as they, you know, went around with their skims underwear on. I'm all for it.
Starting point is 00:35:50 I'm all for it. No problem. I know some people, I can't believe they're stooping to this. Yeah, but the men can wear Calvin Klein's and have underwear deals, but the women can. No, yes, they can. Absolutely, they can. And good for Kim and the WNBA and skims.
Starting point is 00:36:07 But Caitlin was not involved in that. Caitlin was not involved in that. They're still all wound up about her salary being so low, but she is making a whole bunch of money on the other end. So don't worry about Caitlin. She'll be okay. And I know I kind of broke my own rule by mentioning Caitlin Clark and not mentioning Angel Reese,
Starting point is 00:36:30 because if you mention Angel Reese, you're fine. But if you mention Caitlin Clark, you have to mention Angel Reese. But this was specifically about Caitlin Clark and opening. night for the Indiana fever. So I let myself slide a little bit. But then I felt bad. So I had to point it out.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Oh boy. Thanks to a change in upper level winds in the atmosphere. Those of you that are living in the northern plains and the upper Midwest here in the United States of America, if you walk outside and you start... Yeah, that's caused by Canadian wildfires. I know. Incredible. So right now, we have 140 fires burning across central Canada. Nearly 40 are listed as out of control.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So when you start... Yeah, you can blame it on Canada. The air quality alerts is blamed on Canada. It's clearly an issue. So it's a wildfire season in Canada. So be careful out there. And when you walk outside, it might not be you, but if you're in northern Wisconsin or Minnesota or Northern Iowa,
Starting point is 00:37:54 Nebraska, the Dakotas, especially maybe in the gravel pit state, and you walk outside, it might not be you, but you may hear someone, you know, down the road. I just know that it's Canada's fault. And I know hopefully the weather will keep it contained, but you never know it could go farther south here in the United States from those over 140 wildfires already burning across Canada. So, and right now, 40 of them, 40 of the 140 are listed as out of control.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Oh, okay, no problem then. I'll just be here. interesting news concerning alcohol today i see where san francisco has launched a five million dollar program aimed at providing managed alcohol consumption to homeless alcoholics now that is that is very nice of san francisco the initiative which involves nurses serving limited amounts of alcohol such as a shot of vodka a glass of wine or a beer up to three or four times a today is designed to reduce harm and health care costs associated with alcoholism among the homeless population. Uh-huh, and I'm sure it will work. I'm sure it will work. But at the same time,
Starting point is 00:39:25 I see where scientists have created a new edible gel that breaks down alcohol into acetic acid in the gut, helps prevent intoxication. Blood alcohol levels were reduced by 50% in mouse studies, and the substance prevented harmful side effects from over-drinking like liver damage. So all I have to do is take an edible gel, and I'm good. I can drink as much as I want without the harm of the booze. Yeah, I love modern medicine. If I can down all that alcohol, and my gastrointestinal tract doesn't get harmed,
Starting point is 00:40:12 and I don't have the harmful and intoxicating effects of alcohol. Well, I mean, I kind of like the intoxicating effects of alcohol. I mean, that's kind of why you drink it, isn't it? But if I can take the gel after and then it reduces the blood alcohol levels, then I think I'm in. Then I think I'm in.
