Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners.
You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube.
Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music.
What's up, everyone?
It's Chicks in the Office with Rianne Friend, giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday.
And this is a special episode indeed.
Obviously, it is the Bachelorette Recap Hometown's Edition.
Not only do we have Luggage Guy, Trent, who we usually have for these podcasts,
unless he's golfing or doing some other nonsense that he cares more about than this podcast.
We also have the lovely Caitlin Bristow who hosts this show that we love so dearly and who let us join her live show in Boston a couple weeks ago.
That was so much fun.
And we thank her for letting us join the show because we had an absolute blast.
We were telling everyone about it.
But first, we have to mention that this podcast is presented by DatChat.
We are loving Dat Chat these days.
It's the new social networking app.
Think about it.
Instagram, Twitter, wherever you write those things on there, it stays forever, okay?
That's forever.
That shit.
It stays forever.
You can't screen record it on Datchat.
You can't do any of that.
You could pick how long things stay for five seconds, five minutes, five days.
You want to send a nude to somebody?
I know you do.
Everybody loves news.
You get those off on Datchat and nobody can screenshot it.
Nobody can screen record.
You could say whatever you want.
There's private messaging.
And it's also great for the good.
groups that we have. We have a chicks in the office group on there where you could talk about
the podcast. You could talk about pop culture topics. What's the hottest thing it's happening right now,
The Bachelorette and the Cutting Stems Group, Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian, you can talk about
the chicks in the office group. Talk about us in there. Sometimes we pop in there. We like to comment,
up, vote, downvote. So go to datchat.com slash barstool, and you can learn more about datchat and
download it on your phone. Once again, we are loving dat chat, and we think you guys will too.
and I think that the people have joined DatChat already also are loving it because it has a great
community vibe. I mean, obviously you can get that on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, all these other
places. But DatChat really feels like a real community. So go to datchat.com slash barstool and you'll get more
info and you can download it. And on top of that, we have a new YouTube video premiering Thursday at
7 p.m. Eastern time that Noah and Natalie have worked incredibly hard on. It is a never before seen
footage of our live shows. We have all the
the interviews in there. Not the full thing, but you get a good chunk of every interview that we did
on stage, all the guests that we had, all the live shows. You can really get a feel for the live shows
and how fun they are. And obviously, we're going to be doing this again. So if you're interested
in coming to the shows, you want to know what it's like. I think that this YouTube video,
there's something in it for everybody. Just if you're interested in the guests or you're interested
in how the live show goes, I watch it. I teared up a few times. I laughed a lot. I think that it was
really, really well done. It's long, but it's worth it. And I think that if you're
fan of this show. You guys will really enjoy it and make you look forward to the next tour.
And if you didn't buy tickets the first time around, you're going to want to buy tickets after
watching this. So set your alarms Thursday 7 p.m. Easter time and make sure you subscribe to
Chicks in the Office on YouTube. And I also want to mention that I drank a bottle of your wine
last night and I felt amazing. Okay. Do you feel amazing today? I felt amazing when I woke up.
See, there you go. That spaded sparrows doesn't cause hangovers. Just kidding. Don't quote me on that.
But thank you.
Thank you for that intro.
And thank you for being guests at my live podcast.
That was so much fun.
Also, when you say host of the show, do you notice that at the end I'm a special guest?
Yeah.
Are you really?
Yeah, it's a special guest at the end.
I was like, what the hell?
Like in the credits.
Yeah, I'm a special guest.
Oh, they got to give you the full host at this point.
Come on, right?
It's not like we're not doing like the live AFR and hosting the mental all and giving out that
final rose.
so at least just toss us the title.
Yeah.
You deserve that.
Eelan, do you feel like you're, do you feel like you and Tasia were in Katie's season a little bit more than you've been in Michelle's season?
1,000 percent.
And that's when we weren't titled as the hosts.
That was when we were like mentors.
And I, I don't know if it's because we're in Minneapolis.
So Michelle has like her friends in town, her family.
she's because we literally were twiddling our thumbs in Minneapolis like do do do like we just come out for one final rose moment.
I mean, we had Bree and Serena P in this episode.
They showed up and I was like, we're at Caitlin and Tasha.
I know.
I know.
We really had to take a knee this whole season.
It feels like.
And they couldn't even give you the host title.
At least if you're not going to show up, might as well just throw you the title.
I know.
At least throw me a bone there.
It's okay.
You guys still crushed it.
Absolutely. Absolutely. We love you guys as the host, but let's, let's recap, shall we? We're going to talk about hometowns. Even though they're not really hometowns. They're basically just dates in Michelle's hometown and then Joe's. And then Joe gets a hometown. Let's start with, we're going to go through all of them. Let's start with number one. That was Brandon. Brandon's date was very cute. You know, they were skateboarding. He wasn't doing it very well.
well, but he was trying.
I don't know if he's supposed to be like some kind of skateboard kid and he just forgot
or what, but he really didn't look like he was that cut.
No, he was, and then he goes, he said something like, oh, my legs don't work when she's in
the room.
I'm like, good luck at fantasy suites next week.
If your legs can't work when she's in the same room, I'm concerned about you.
That does seem like Brandon might have mentioned.
Somebody else might not work. Yeah, right.
Brandon might have mentioned like one time that he was.
sort of into skateboarding and they were like, well, that's what you're doing in Minneapolis for your
hometown. So get ready and hopefully you're going to be all right. And they didn't like it like classic
Portland. They weren't like, you're going to wear a beanie and go get a good cup of coffee. And like it was like,
okay, skateboarding. Yeah. It's like extreme home makeover when they were like, I like horses. Okay,
we made your whole room into a stable. It's like just taking the extra mile.
There really wasn't like, I feel like in the past bubble seasons, and maybe because they were
in Minneapolis, it's hard to, like, figure out what you're going to do.
There wasn't, they didn't try to, like, fake the hometown somewhere else.
I always think of Zach with that taxi in the New York.
Like, they did all these, like, very gimmicky things.
And for this, it was just like, here's an activity that you like to do in your hometown.
Right.
That's what your is going to be.
That's actually funny.
I'm trying to think, because, yeah, they even did that, like,
Katie's hometowns, they even made it really gimmicky, like Blake's whole Canadian thing.
I was just happy that, because Nate is actually from Canada.
And I was like, oh, here we go with the stereotypes of Canada.
As date's going to be putteen and frigging beavers.
And so when he was like, I live in Austin right now, I was like, I think God.
But yeah, he was like, I like to take walks.
That's what we do in my hometown.
I paddle board.
So let's just do that.
Let's just do that.
From time to time.
But Brandon,
um,
we were,
Brandon,
his thing to me and his,
his time with Michelle just feels like it is getting better and better.
But I think that also comes a lot from,
Brandon is an open book.
This kid can't stop talking about how great Michelle is and how much he likes her and
the connection.
And it's like,
it's hard to resist stop falling for that.
You're like this guy.
He just,
he likes Michelle so damn much.
So much.
So much.
Yeah, and I love that he's not afraid to say it because, you know,
everyone always has this slow build of like,
I'm going to wait for the right time and we'll say it after I meet the family
when we're sitting on the bench because that's when we're supposed to do it.
And he's just the whole time been like screaming it from a mountaintop.
Yeah, and clearly Michelle likes that because I think we've been talking about
on this podcast a lot for the whole season where it feels like it's the Joe and the Nate show.
That is those are the two guys who are probably going to be the final two and that that's what
it's going to be. And then there was Brandon who was always there, always this great, super nice guy,
and come to find out that Michelle really loves that type as well to the point where, I mean,
again, it's the Joe and the Nate show for a long time. But Brandon, he might go ahead and swoop in
and get this whole thing by himself. So this is where my thoughts changed because the whole time,
I thought it was the Joe and Nate show. And then after watching this hometown date between Brandon and
Michelle, I thought that Brandon was very much in the friend zone.
But then watching this, it seemed like Michelle really like Brandon's family.
They were talking about fishing.
They were talking about basketball.
And she said, like, I could see my family hanging out with Brandon's family.
I think that's very important.
You want your families to be able to get along.
And also when she said to him, like, I'm falling for you.
I just wasn't expecting that with Michelle and Brandon.
And then after she said that, I was like, wait a second.
I think it's, we'll talk about this later, but I think it may be Brandon and
Nate now, where as I always thought it was Joe and Nate, but like, I think that people's families
can change your perspective on a person because you know, like, if this is going to be forever,
their family is going to be involved. And she really liked his family. And it seemed like she thought
that her family would like his family too. Even just seeing like, you know, where he comes from,
I think changes the game too. Like it just, it switches your whole perspective of that person and you
learn to like love them or like them even more because you see where they came from.
And if they have a great family, like how could you not fall in love with that?
And then you get excited like hang out with the family.
Exactly. And that was a big thing for Michelle's family. And I actually did see a shift in her in
that moment too because when I when I heard that she said that back like that she was falling for
Brandon too, I was like, okay, because we told her don't rule people out. You know,
obviously things didn't work out for Tasha and Zach. But
Tasha was ruling out Zach kind of at first.
It wasn't like he stepped out of the limo and that was it.
And so we told her like, you know, keep your options open and don't rule anyone out.
And she really, she really did that.
Yeah, she definitely did.
And you're right.
I think like, I think Brandon's dad made a huge impact on her because you can tell how much
Michelle and not saying, not saying past bachelor rats haven't loved their parents,
but she loves her parents.
Like you can tell she is such a bond with them and a friendship with them.
And she loves spending time with them.
So, yeah, to see Brandon's dad and be like, ooh, you and my dad can hang out.
Like major, major brownie points.
So, yeah, I think that that went very, very far.
And what was also really nice was Brandon's brother who was supposed to leave for the Navy
delayed his departure so that he could meet Michelle as well.
And I think obviously that speaks, you know, bounds for Michelle, too, to be like, oh, wow.
Like that I think that shows Michelle that if his family is taking the whole process seriously, then Brandon is too.
Because sometimes you get the families during the hometowns, they're like, you're not really like doing this, right?
Like this is like, totally.
Or like, this isn't real.
Like I can go home and like we can pretend like this didn't happen.
Totally.
But for Brandon, it feels like his family was also very.
very invested. All in all, very good hometown date. Yeah, it was. It was a 10 out of 10.
Yeah. Brandon, I think, knocked it out of the park. And he's so excited. So you're like excited for him.
He's like this little puppy dog. Like he's so excited all the time. I love that he's not like nervous, though,
because these guys, I feel like sometimes they get so in their head about like being in love. And like,
I feel like a lot of guys are that way. They're like, oh my God, suddenly it's so scary because they like think there's no way.
out if they do settle down even though there is. I think a lot of people feel that way.
But I think with Brandon, he's just like, oh, I love Michelle. I'm so excited. Whatever happens,
happens. Yeah, I agree with you. Yeah, he's so excited. He's just happy to be there and happy to be
anywhere. He is like, he's like a golden retriever. Yeah. Yeah. He absolutely is.
Trent, I got a question for you. How good are you in the kitchen? I am not good at all in the
kitchen. I kind of had a feeling. Yeah. I don't mean to to make, you know, assumptions, but I kind of
a feeling, which is why you should probably be using HelloFresh.
I agree.
HelloFresh is so easy, especially now with us traveling, the holidays coming up.
It's so hectic.
You've got tons of things going on, but you want to make sure that you're eating well,
that you're not spending tons of money on ordering food every single night.
So HelloFresh offers 50 menu and market items to choose from every week,
including vegetarian, calorie smart, and gourmet options, provide a point.
honey a variety. The ingredients travel from the farm to your door within a week so you get the
convenience without skipping on the quality. You don't have to go to the grocery store, which is
the best thing. Trent, you'll understand this. Going to the grocery store in New York City is actually
really hard because if you go to a grocery store that's not super close to your apartment,
you got to schlep all the bags. It's crazy. People have to buy carrying like carts to wheel them down
the sidewalks. You just, you physically, I personally, physically cannot carry the amount of groceries
I want for a week down, down multiple blocks. So Hello Fresh makes it so easy. They have so many
amazing recipes like the chicken ramen and a show you style broth, turkey ragu yoki,
sounds absolutely amazing. And everything comes pre-portioned. You open the bag. Everything is
individually packaged with the instruction so you know exactly how to make the food.
You really, it's idiot proof, guys.
Like, you can't be adding too much of this herb or too much least money because it tells you
everything.
It gives you just the right amount.
So go to hellofresh.com slash chicks 14 and use code chicks 14 for up to 14 free meals
and three free gifts.
That's hellofresh.com slash chicks 14 and use code chicks 14 for up to 14 free free
meals and three free gifts.
That's Hello Fresh Baby America's number one meal kit.
The second hometown date was sweet, sweet Rodney.
I don't know, like, this is, this was my one major issue with hometowns.
I'm tired of the Apple thing.
You reach hometowns.
It's not fun anymore.
It's not cute anymore.
And two, like, I think he's from California.
like they they gave him nothing.
He didn't get to share a single thing about his hometown
besides meeting his parents,
his mom and his stepdad with Michelle
because they just picked apples.
Like it was just another apple joke.
Yeah, it's, I'm a little appled out.
That was the same.
A little apple down.
But remember Becca Kufrin went apple picking on her hometown
and it did great things for her.
So maybe.
Is it in a Minnesota thing?
Like he's not from there.
I'm a Cooprance from there.
I never want to go apple picking.
Like there's really like we could go to the store,
pick up a nice bag of apples,
even cut it up, put some peanut butter with it.
I don't want to go apple picking.
But I think the perception,
I think you guys are in the minority.
Why are you laughing so hard, friend?
Because I think the perception of.
Ria's Long Island comes out
in the best time.
just like, I'm going to the fucking store
and I'm getting a bag of apples.
I'm not going to the, I'm not going to have some
peanut butter on there.
He goes, I'm getting a bag of apples.
Because I think the internet loves apple picking.
That's what I pick up from the internet.
Nobody likes apple picking.
How many basic bitches are you following on Instagram?
They're doing it.
Has anybody made you go apple picking?
No, I would refuse to go apple picking.
I don't want to do that either.
Who I'm not involved?
There is, okay, but.
Just go to the vineyard and drink wine.
Like, that's fun to me.
Like, going to the vineyard, getting some wine.
I don't even want to pick the grapes.
And a goddamn cheeseboard and call it a day.
We're like pumpkin picking.
Like, why the fuck are we picking pumpkins?
What are we doing with the pumpkins?
It's fun for kids.
It's fun for kids.
And then I think, like, as a romantic activity,
it is not as romantic as people think it is.
No.
The apples are, like,
squished on the ground.
Yeah, it's not romantic.
It doesn't like scream sexy to me at all.
Yeah.
I do wish.
Michelle was throwing apples at Rodney, like this.
Which led into another basketball move.
Yep.
Yeah.
She's dunking with the apples.
I do wish.
They really like sold Rodney short, I think the whole, the whole season.
Like even, especially we saw it when.
Is that a short joke on Rodney?
No.
I love Rodney.
I don't think he's short at all.
I've been the biggest Rodney supporter.
People have said that they see me and Rodney at point.
They do.
I do.
He's just a really nice guy, but.
That's what it is.
It's an awe.
Oh, I know.
That was, yeah, that's, it's fine.
Me and Rodney.
I love Rodney.
I do as well.
And I like, when he.
I will, I will sign off.
I'll get out of here right now.
No.
Oh, stop it.
Like when we met Rodney's parents and Rodney was talking to his mom,
the tone that he had was far more serious than I'd seen him throughout the season.
Like I almost wish,
and maybe there were some of those moments between Rodney,
Michelle that we just didn't see.
But what we saw between Rodney Michelle,
it was very fun and goofy and we very much like that side of Rodney.
But the side that he showed with his mom was like,
I'm into this.
And I'm very much into this woman.
And I could see myself spending the rest of my life with her.
And I wish if Rodney had,
hadn't shown that side to Michelle. I wish he had because I think sometimes she made Michelle maybe
even got swept up and he's just a really nice guy, but are there more sides to him than this?
And if he had shown what he showed with his mom, I think that would have gone a long way.
So, so he did. I think it wasn't shown as much as like you said, we would have liked to see
because that was something that she really loved about Rodney was all the different sides of him.
And that's something that we all, even producers and Tasha and I like, he was just so pleasant to be
around because he had so many different sides to him where he could be goofy he could be serious he
could be sweet he could be like you know bantering back and forth he he really had it all so
i think it really was the truth when she said you know like that there were there wasn't anything
wrong it was just the other relationships had progressed quicker yeah yeah and i i i think as
far as my favorite parent of the of the hometowns go because i know um
I liked Nate's stepdad as well, but Rodney's mom, to me,
I think she was just the winner as far as any family member.
She was so sweet, and you could just tell, like,
she really wanted this to work.
If Rodney really wanted it to work, when they were talking,
and Rodney was like, no, like, I really, I feel this for her.
Like, because, you know, she had asked him,
do you see this outside of all this?
He's like, yes, absolutely.
And when he said that, she started to cry.
She's like, I'm just like, I'm just like,
It's very serious, son.
She was like, I just want this to work for you so bad.
It was so, oh.
Yeah, you could tell she's just really rooting for his happiness.
Like, I'm going to be a psychopath of a mom if I have a boy.
I'm going to be like, no girl is going to be good enough for you.
And I am your number one.
And she was just like, whatever makes you happy, which is the healthy response.
Yes, that is the healthy response.
Hey, Caitlin.
I'll change.
I'll try.
It is.
No, no, that.
No woman ever good enough for their son.
You know what I'm saying?
Like no son finds a girl that like in their mom's eyes is ever good enough for their.
Every girlfriend, my brother has brought home my mom loves.
Like my mom is just they welcome people into our family way too fast.
It's like I can bring home anybody.
And they'd be like, we love him.
So I will say that's like a side.
like my mom automatically falls in love with the girlfriend immediately.
That's interesting.
I had to,
I had to work a little bit to get Jason's mom to love me,
but it didn't take long.
It was more like,
it was more like,
oh,
our family's pretty private and Caitlin's talking about her vagina again on her podcast.
And it was like,
okay,
this is what I'm going to have to deal with.
But then she like,
she saw like,
oh,
that's on Caitlin.
Caitlin,
like in our family home has a big heart and isn't talking like that.
And is respectful.
How many siblings did this Jason have?
He has one brother.
He's one.
Okay, so it's two sons.
And I feel like when there's only boys in the family, when a girlfriend comes in,
they're a little more stern.
But Jason's brother's gay.
On his season, that was, I love on, I remember that from his, from his season.
And I was, because of his, God, did Jason have a hometown?
Yeah, right?
Did.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's what I was going to, I was like, yeah, it's got a little buffalo.
Oh, yes, Francesca, thank you for bringing up.
Yes, that was actually when she met his family and they said,
I love you to each other.
Yep, that was your time.
Yeah.
No, I don't.
Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
Sick.
Anywho.
Jayle's going to fight with Jason after this now or something that happened a couple of years ago.
He's going on.
Like, what happened now?
Are you on your period again?
Oh, man.
But, yeah, it was, Rodney's family was great.
They screwed him with the apple picking.
But it just kind of felt like he was a little bit behind the eight ball
to start off hometowns anyway.
So that's where we left off with Rodney.
I know this is very off topic, guys, okay?
But I was driving the other day.
And I was like, oh, my God, I can't see.
I can't see.
The light is blinding me.
I'm like, I'm driving to the mall.
I was all excited.
I'm like shopping for California.
All of a sudden, I'm putting my thing down.
I'm blinded.
Looked over.
I had my nectar sunglasses in the car and I was fucking hyped because then I was able to see
and I didn't crash my car, my new Mercedes, no big deal.
I didn't want to crash it and I had my nectar sunglasses next to me for that great cause.
Sometimes people think that nectar sunglasses or just sunglasses in general are for the
summer.
It's not the winter, the snow, the reflection of the sun on snow.
It's not snowing yet.
But that show will blind you and make you drive off the road and we don't need that.

Hometown number three was Joe.
And Joe, of course, from Minneapolis,
actually got his own hometown.
He got to bring Michelle to his high school.
Now they've both seen each other's high schools
and they've walked to the halls
and they get to share these moments.
And then Joe had a whole prom set up for her,
which was a nod to her poem.
and where she had said, you know, she was picked so
for prom and Joe got to kind of give her like that big redo moment.
It was very cute.
My one thought before I passed it on to all of you guys was when she changed into her,
you know, prom dress, unbelievable.
She has knocked it out of the park style-wise all season long.
She hasn't had one dud of an outfit that's in-her-time.
Not one.
That red dress was great.
I don't want to be creepy, but in the beginning of it,
the episode, she was wearing a white dress.
And I was like, damn, her ass looks amazing.
I know.
Everything she puts on her body, it looks incredible.
So good.
She's crushing it.
And that's Carrie Fetman was the stylist.
And I think he had like a tougher time with Katie because Katie's way more casual and
wanted to like not wear fancy, nice, expensive dresses, which is cool too.
But Michelle was like, oh my gosh, that's this designer and that's going to, I'm going to
rock this and she just and she rocked everything with confidence and i will say i just talked to her for
my podcast um a couple hours ago and she was like i thought joe was taking me into a gymnasium
to play yet another game of basketball she was like i was going to be like oh my god is this
all this going to be our thing and so she said she was just so pleasantly surprised that he like you know
did that whole prom thing from her poem it was so sweet i think we were all relieved because i think that was
I might have turned off the episode.
No, same.
I was like, okay, we get it.
Joe and Michelle, they bond over basketball.
Mr. and Mrs. basketball.
Yeah.
Triple, triple.
That's all they do is play basketball.
Yeah.
And it's like, okay, are they ever going to have anything else in their relationship besides
play basketball?
So I think that was really good.
And I think it was just like, obviously we know that this isn't all Joe's doing.
Like, I think it was good on the show to be like, all right, we're not going to throw another
basketball day in there.
Exactly.
Like, open that up for him.
But Joe, like,
No, not the cinematography, is that?
Yeah.
Yes.
Like while they were doing that prom date, it was like the bubbles and the cameras were
turning and there was like a symphony playing music in the background and they were dancing
and the whole thing.
I was like, this is really well done.
It was like a Netflix rom-com and it did have that.
Yes.
Exactly right.
For a few moments there.
But, you know, with that date, this is why, I think this is also why the Apple Picking really
got to me because I was like, you're going to give Joe a chance for Michelle to redo her prom.
And then you're going to tell Rodney to go pick some apples.
Like, come on.
It's just, it's so, I mean, because they knew that.
They know that Joe has a better shot than Rodney anyway.
So they're like, we might as well give the budget to the person who has the better shot
and like not blow it on Rodney, who we know is getting forthplace anyway.
And that is no shade to Rodney.
Oh, poor Rodney.
I feel like Ronnie's taking a lot of shots on this podcast.
He's taking a lot of shots, but I love Rodney.
It's nothing to do with him.
It's about watching the connection of them,
and it's like very clear that he's in fourth place.
Yeah.
And I will say back to the short thing.
It's not Rodney and Chris S aren't that short.
It's all these guys are like freaking six, eight.
And so they just look short next to them.
Even Chris S was,
all these guys are so tall.
Isn't Chris S isn't short?
He looks so short.
Well, I mean,
when he was battling against,
Nate, Nate 6, 8, and I think Chris is probably like just under six feet.
Fair.
Oh, that's sad because that's not short.
No.
Because that's my height.
And I don't want to be the same height as Chris S.
There you go.
I don't know.
We've seen that picture flowing around for play.
No, I'm not short.
I was standing between tall people.
I got nated.
I got, you stand next to tall people.
You look really small.
It's not fair.
You know, you're tall.
I want to put it out there.
Trent is a perfect height, a perfect specimen.
Perfect
Beautiful
Perfection
100%
Joe's family
was honestly
it was a little
uncomfortable to watch
and my heart
like broke a little bit
for Joe
because I think he is
obviously already
very uncomfortable
in this setting
you can see that
he has not opened up
and it just
everything clicked
a little bit
right of why
when he was opening up
he was like
look I don't talk about
this stuff
like my dad's not
really like that
so I'm not really like that.
And we saw that because when he sat down with his dad and he was like, all right, hit me.
What, what you got?
Questions?
I know you got something.
And his poor, very sweet dad.
It was just like, I'm good.
Like whether he was uncomfortable on camera or uncomfortable sharing.
Wow.
It was sad to like, of course, the way they cut it, like they put this long pause after.
It just was like, oh, no.
I know.
It feels like they're not talking at all.
I know.
It made me so uncomfortable because.
like I don't know how much of the editing that was or how awkward the silence was,
but it made me sad as well because when you go through the process that is the Bachelorette,
you really are forced to open up and you realize how much you needed that in your life.
And you start to be more comfortable with it.
And I think Joe was just getting to a place where he was like,
I'm going to start opening up and I'm going to be open about my feelings.
And I think he really wanted to get there with his family.
and it was kind of like, he was like, well, do you have anything for me?
Because he just kind of wanted that and was kind of like, here's our chance.
And then it just didn't go that way.
Yeah, I think, I said this on cutting stems.
I think that it's just, I feel like if you're uncomfortable off camera with talking about the stuff with your family, throw a camera in the mix.
And you're going to be a hundred times more uncomfortable.
And I think that this is where that came into the picture.
And also your son has been filming a show for however many months.
It's like you're just, and if you don't watch the show, you're probably confused about what's going on.
And I feel like, yes, it was like sad for Joe because he seems like he's excited about the experience and he's all in.
And it's unfortunate if you feel like your family's not.
But at the same time, I'm like, can you blame these parents for being skeptical or quiet at times?
Because it's not a normal thing.
No, it's very realistic when families are, you know, questioning or having reservations about it because it doesn't make any sense to like a person that has not not been through it. You're like, how could you possibly get there or like how is like this is like Rodney's mom being like this is serious. Like that's, that is realistic for families to react that way. So especially when you're not, you know, if you're a very private family and you've got cameras and camera crews and producers. What did you guys think about the same?
home being used every time.
It was, it was weird and it was a creepy like, like a set, like a weird.
I don't know.
I just felt like a like groundhogs day or something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's exactly right.
I can't believe I didn't notice that.
I didn't even notice.
I was just like, oh, it's a new house every single time.
This is really nice.
I think that you, you get a more, like, you get a feel more when you're going to their actual
hometowns and stepping into their home because like this is what it's going to be like when
I'm actually visiting these people.
Whereas when you're going to set, it's not comfortable.
It's not tailored to what they're used to.
That's a really good point.
Trent, you really liked Hannah Joe's sister-in-law,
and she was really the only one who contributed to the conversation,
really at all, I think.
Yeah, I thought they had an interesting dynamic.
And yeah, like you're saying, like she seems like the only one in the family
who can pull out of Joe or who wants to talk to Joe and,
and,
you know,
his brother didn't really say anything,
but,
but Hannah was very much involved.
And I thought,
I thought they have a nice relationship.
I think Joe just needs way more of that in his life.
And I understand,
like,
what you guys are saying about being nervous
and being more nervous on camera to,
like share your feelings.
Like,
you see it with a lot of the dads that are on this show that,
yeah,
they're definitely more hesitant to share those things.
And even the more outgoing dads aren't super outgoing.
So when you have one that,
isn't comfortable sharing his feelings, you're really not going to get much.
So you need somebody like a Hannah to get to know Joe a little bit more.
So I thought they had a really nice relationship.
Yeah.
I appreciate a good brother-in-law or sister-in-law relationship because I have a great
relationship with my brother-in-law.
And I know he would say the same about me.
And I think it's so important because if you don't get along, it can cause a lot of problems
in the family and a lot of like unnecessary fights.
So I feel you've got to be on the same team.
Yeah, it's true. And it really just like elevates your own relationship when you can get along with everyone else in the family.
Yeah. My brother-in-law always jokes around that obviously we don't, but he'll be like, we get along better than him and my sister.
And it's like, that's not true, but it's nice to have that sentiment. I agree.
Absolutely. That's always fun. And you could tell that Hannah does really know Joe too.
Because just from the way when Joe and Michelle were seeing together, it was like she had said, you know, I can already tell the Michelle is good for him.
she knows that Joe like needs someone that's maybe going to pull him out of his shell a little bit.
Yeah.
So they definitely, it's there.
And I feel like she now comes down to like, I think Michelle does like Joe a lot.
And of course the Minneapolis thing is huge.
But like now is the family dynamic there for her?
Or is it there more with someone like Brandon's family?
That's where my Swiss to Brandon came in.
Yes, that is where Ria switched to Brandon.
I personally still think that pull to Joe is very, very strong.
But yeah, it all totally, totally plays a major factor in that.

And then the last hometown was Nate.
They went paddleboarding because I guess Nate paddleboards when he's in Austin.
All right.
But the big tease here in the trailer for hometowns was it kind of seemed like something
maybe not so great happens during Nate's hometown.
It was framed as he's like kind of in tears.
It's like, oh, you know, the family dynamics will kind of out of whack there.
And yes, his parents, you can tell skeptical, his mom, his stepdad, where they don't,
they've never talked to Nate about these things where his feelings, he hasn't brought a girl home.
They hasn't even gotten close to being able to say, like, I want to marry this person or whatever.
And now here he is, like, falling for this girl.
But he was able to have his conversation with his stepdad.
dad that was so sweet and was so unexpected like i really thought that that was going in a different
direction and it was like i didn't know what his stepdad was going to say to him and it turned
into like such a beautiful moment oh i saw that was so nice oh yeah it's so nice i literally had
goosebumps and tears in my eyes because again i did not i was i talked to michel after and i wasn't
prepared for that kind of hometown watching it back because I was like, wait, that like turned
into something that I think Nate needed to even just grow as a human being and like like come
into like we unlocked another level of of Nate. And it was like so powerful that Michelle and
being the kind of person Michelle is. And I talked to her about this is that she was able to put
her worries and insecurities aside because she realized the power of that moment for him.
And she more so put him first and was like really happy that he got that out of their hometown
without bringing up, well, I'm now insecure about what they said. She was like, I'm going to,
you know, let you have this moment, which I think says so much about Michelle.
Well, and we just saw the opposite. We just got done talking about it with Joe where when the cameras
came out, they were more shy. They didn't want to talk about their feelings. But like you said before,
the show does force you sometimes to talk about your feelings.
And then with Nate and his stepdad Charles,
they said things that they had never said to each other before.
And that is,
it is really a beautiful thing.
And I agree with you.
I had goosebumps.
I was getting teary-eyed like it.
It was just such an incredible moment that we all got to witness.
And it came out of nowhere, it seemed like.
Yeah.
I think that's where,
because we keep bringing up how it felt like it was like the Joe and Nate show
kind of this whole season.
and where this episode was like, oh, Brandon's family really shined here and she felt comfortable there.
And I think this is where I'm getting the Brandon and Nate top two vibe is because, yes, Nate might not be ready.
And like his family doesn't think he's ready, maybe.
But Michelle witnessing a moment like that between his stepdad and Nate is just something like a bonding experience all around and just brings everybody closer.
and the fact that she was present or something like that can not only bring the stepdad and Nate together,
but it brings Nate and Michelle together because now he could talk to Michelle about that moment.
And it's like something that adds to their relationship rather than like Joe's family just being like kind of uncomfortable.
Yeah.
Like I feel like Michelle saw that happen and went, well, of course they probably didn't think he's ready.
They've never ever heard him say these kinds of things.
And then by the end of it, you know, it could have been they walked away and.
Nate's or Nathaniel's family was probably like actually maybe he is ready.
Yeah, it's that all very good points.
I think that too in that moment, you know, because we're watching it and we see that
whole conversation with Nate and the stepdad.
But for Michelle, like I don't, you know, did she really get to experience everything
that was happening like between the two of them?
So, you know, I kind of think like that that conversation for me as a viewer like totally dominated that hometown.
I was like, oh my God, what a great moment for Nate and his stepdad and all the things.
And then you kind of forget like, ooh, what's Michelle thinking right now?
Because she's leaving with Nate's parents being like, we're not really sure he's ready for this.
So but at the end of the day, Rhea, I think you're very on this.
Like she likes Nate a lot.
And if regardless of if she thinks that there's a proposal at the end or not, she might still,
she might still pick him.
Like that's what you talked about with this mom.
Like, if there would like, are you ready for a proposal?
She's kind of like, oh, you know, we'll see what happens.
It's kind of a sign of like, hey, if it's an aid at the end and he says to me, I'm not ready for a
proposal.
She might be okay with that.
Right.
And like we notice with how things can shift so quickly with meeting families and feelings
can change and everything can be like, oh, wait, that person's fantasy sweets do the same thing.
So who knows what will happen?
I mean, next week is men tell all, but the week after that.
Yeah, I know.
So, Ria, you, I will get to, I think we can get to maybe our predicted winners will talk about
that.
But of course, after this hometown, we did have to go into a rose ceremony.
Caitlin, your time to shine.
Oh, gosh, I feel like such a fraud in those moments coming in.
and saying that.
Why?
Like, what is going through your mind
when you have to do that?
Because it looks so serious
and I'm not going to lie.
And every time, like,
and I don't mean this in like a,
I laugh way,
but like you and Tasia come out
and I chuckled to myself
because it's not,
it's less Tasia and more are you
because when you're like,
gentlemen.
Yeah.
Like,
because we just know you by now
and it's like.
Exactly.
Like,
that's what I feel like a fraud.
Because we know you so well.
Because we know you so well that when you're like,
Rodney,
is please say her goodbyes.
But sometimes we get so attached to the people too that I'm actually sad in that moment
knowing he's leaving.
I'm like,
damn.
Like I get actually,
I'm like sad for him and I'm sad for Michelle.
So sometimes the tone of that whole room is just like so serious.
And I naturally smile when I talk.
And so I've had to work on that because they're like,
Caitlin, stop smiling when you're out there telling goodbye to these guys who
like trying to cry. But I do I feel like such a fraud every time I come out there and say that one,
because it doesn't, it feels like I'm, everything I do in my life feels very like authentic and off
the cuff and like just me being me. That feels very scripted to me and inauthentic where I'm like.
It is. You're just saying the same things that I've always said. Exactly. It's like,
it's belonged to somebody else for so long that it feels wrong saying it. That's why I was always like,
can I say guys instead of gentlemen or can I be like, yo, Michelle?
Like, can I just say it a little different?
Yeah, let's do a couple of takes.
Let's do a couple improvs.
Exactly.
I'm like, oh, let's go until I feel comfortable.
This is about me, no?
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
But yeah, it's, it's, it's a, I chuckle to myself too.
Yeah.
And so it was now maybe, maybe Ria subliminally here,
you are getting this from the order she went in of giving out roses.
It did go, Brandon, Nate, Joe.
in that order, which sometimes carries a weight,
sometimes doesn't, that could totally change.
But in this situation, it came down to Joe and Rodney.
And I'll be honest, never once did I think Rodney was getting that rose.
No, I mean, we knew it was going to be Joe.
I think Rodney knew it was going to be.
Yeah.
Rodney was probably like, fuck, I don't understand.
If it was Brandon Meadie, but it's Joe.
I think Rodney was like, how the fuck did I make it this far?
It's so sad that he always thought of himself as the underdog because everybody liked him.
Like every guy liked him.
Every guy saw him as like as someone that would be good for Michelle.
Every producer liked him.
Like he is so well liked.
But that's never it.
Like you know what I mean?
Yeah.
You got to have a little edge.
And Robbie's a great guy.
But like you got to have a little, you know.
And framing like Nate.
That's for sure.
Subliminally, yes.
maybe because it being between Joe and Rodney is kind of like there's a clear top too.
You picked two people before Joe and Rodney.
But I think it really was the family dynamic to me, like the way that Michelle was talking
about Brandon's family.
And just because I was so, I did not expect at all for Michelle to tell Brandon that she was
falling for him the way that she did.
Like last week, truthfully, I was like friends own vibes, whatever.
But when she said that, I was like, oh, fuck, I don't think she would say this if she didn't mean it.
And that's where everything changed for me.
Yeah, I agree.
Definitely very possible.
So next week, we have the men tell all.
You're making a face.
Was that super fun?
Oh, my gosh.
I wonder if they'll show me saying it.
But at one point, I just said, what turn did I take in life to be sitting up here just listening to two men argue about pizza and
jacket. Like, how is this still bothering you guys? It was, it literally, it was a lot of arguing,
um, it, just a lot of arguing. And I'm trying to think of what else happened. A lot happened,
but it felt like a lot of arguing as well. But it's the same, you know, like it's, there's the drama,
there's the tears. There's a lot of closure. And there's a lot of powerful moments from Michelle,
having important conversations with people, guys that thought they could just, you know, come out there
and save face and say it was an edit and do all the things.
And she just put them in their place and I love her for it.
I hope it's Martin Martin.
I better be Martin.
Martin tried to save face.
I will say that.
Like, yeah, I mean, look, you knew that that was going to happen as soon as he put
out that frigging personal essay on his Instagram about getting a bad edit and turning
the comments off, like being like, you only see maybe 30 minutes of me.
Like, it's like, all right, we saw.
We saw enough and we didn't like it.
We saw, we saw, we saw you being your true authentic self when you didn't think the cameras were on you.
Yeah, exactly.
So, we would love to hear that about Michelle, the pizza jacket thing, can't wait to see that go down.
I don't know if this is like, I don't know if it's like sexist.
I don't know what it is.
But there is just something about the men tell all that I'm just like, this is like kind of pathetic.
The women tell all, I don't know why.
Like the women tell all, I don't know if it's just like.
And it's, like, it's sexist against women.
Like, it's, like, it's, like,
entertaining to watch women fight.
Like, that's such a bullshit thing to say.
But, like, when you watch the men fight, it's just like, all right, guys, like, really.
Like, all your, like, come on, grow up.
Like, get, it just reeks of Bachelor and Paradise auditions to me.
Like, I'm like, someone is always just trying to get the most TV time and it turns into yelling.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
And I forgot about, I forgot about a lot of these guys.
I'm not going to lie.
To have Peter and Will and Jamie and Christmas and Martin is like kind of a shit done.
And Rick, Rick has a few moments in there.
Oh, Rick.
He wants Bachelor of Paradise.
Yep.
The bloopers are pretty good.
We have some unseen moments that are pretty good.
I think they're going to show Tatius says a little something about her.
and Zach. It's, yeah.
Fran. Fran,
Fran, get ready to. You got this,
Fran. Look,
Caitlin, I was a big, Tasia and
Zach's supporter. I like
them a lot. I will say, like, we had
a YouTube video
come out tonight. Actually,
that was a whole recap of our
live show. You're in it.
It's great. It's a great video.
It's 55 minutes long. It's like a feature
film. Noah did an amazing job.
And Natalie, it's so good.
It did not come out tonight, by the way.
It comes out on Thursday.
Oh, it comes out Thursday.
Thursday.
I'm like, what day is it?
Anyway, promo.
Comes out Thursday night for everyone listening.
Comes out Thursday night.
And my day's the week.
I'm so off for this week.
I don't know what day.
I don't even know what city I'm in right now.
All day I was thinking that video is coming out tonight.
Nope, it's Thursday.
And Zach was our guest in Philly.
And there's like some clips of him talking about Tasia.
And it's so nice.
And it just made me so sad again.
It is sad.
It's sad.
I think everyone like, they think it's sad.
The vaccination thinks it's sad.
It is sad.
I know.
I had a buddy text me today and said he saw Zach in a coffee shop uptown and he, quote,
did it look good?
It was like, oh, my God.
Like, just put the knife in my heart.
I know.
It's such a, like, especially when it's fresh like that and everybody's talking about it.
It's like a breakup's hard enough when it's,
your own breakup is so in your face and like you're trying to grieve it it's it's a lot yeah okay
i want to ask rea and Trent because you know kately and i feel like predictions you can't really
do them you were there the whole time uh who are now that we're going into this is our last three
have our top guy has our winner changed in our minds my top two are brandon and nate and i think
nate wins okay my top two are joe and brandon i just still think joe is going to win
There's so much, Michelle is so comfortable with him.
The Minneapolis thing, I think is huge.
And the Nate stuff for me, the reason I put him in third is, is after that hometown, I think I would actually prefer.
And I don't want to speak for Nate, but I would prefer to him to work on himself for a little bit.
Like that, the stuff with his family, like I don't, he's not ready for an engagement for sure.
Very matured, I'm just saying, like I really like Nate.
I like all these guys.
That's the thing.
These last three and four guys, like it hasn't been.
like drama filled, but the drama comes with,
I couldn't see Michelle with all three of these men.
And that is, that's like a different sort of drama.
I just, I like Nate, but I think he needs a little,
he work on himself a little bit.
And then I think Joe is going to win.
But Brandon could, against all odds,
sneak in there and win the whole thing.
And I think that would be amazing.
I'm, I'm sticking to my guns still with Joe and Nate is my top two.
I'm still going with Joe.
But I just think, I think,
I think Nate
I think
Fantasy Suite Nate
is gonna like put on the moves
you know what I'm saying
I think I think fantasy sweet Nate
like there's no way he doesn't make the final
after fantasy sweet I'll be shocked
if he doesn't bad for Nate's brand
I'm just I think that and also I just think
like there's something about the chase and like
being like I could fix you kind of vibe
that like attracts women
and that's why I'm going to go with Nate
yeah
yeah and I
I'm going to say that I think Michelle, too, can see herself with all three of these guys.
So it's going to be really interesting.
Yeah, yeah.
We didn't even really talk about it.
I think she said the same thing with with Serena and Brie coming to, you know, talk to her.
It was like the same thing.
Like it's just Michelle basically being like, yeah, I really like all these guys.
Yeah.
And they're like, okay.
And they're like, good luck.
We have, we weren't, we have, we don't know what it's like.
So no advice.
So true.
So true.
That's funny.
Oh, man.
But I think that wraps.
it up for our hometown recap. Thank you, Trent. Thank you, Rhea. Thank you, Caitlin, for joining us.
So much fun. We love having you on. I'm going to pop a bottle of spade and sparrows now, too.
I've got mine as well stocked in my in my wine cooler. Yeah, I have a wine cooler.
Oh, you're fancy. In New York City apartment, I got a wine cooler. And my boyfriend's been loving
them as well. I'm like, every night, I'm like, Joe, you're going to drink all the wine.
Caitlin, we drank it on Thanksgiving.
My dad was so excited.
He was like, send her a video of me drinking it.
I was like, no, we're not going to do that, but I'll let her know.
That's amazing.
No, I love all the videos and all the stories.
And I love when people love my wine.
I wish you did take that video because I would have loved to see your dad like hold the bottom
and be like, this is Caitlin Bristow's wine.
Trust me.
I don't even know if it would have been a great advertisement because he was so fucked up.
He was having fun on himself, but it's like, nobody needs to see that.
That's my new nickname at the Tartic household is three bottle bristow, because I just kept drinking like every bottle in sight and I was on fire over Thanksgiving.
Three bottle bristow is an amazing name.
Yeah, it turned into three, three double B.
Three bottle bristow.
Yeah, three double B because he's like that nickname for you is sticking.
And then I got blackout and took the, clean them all up in a nice game of blackjack.
I still function well when I'm drunk.
Amazing job.
Amazing holiday.
We love spending time with you of these last like month or so.
Caitlin,
we've gotten to see you a lot.
Such a treat.
Thank you so much.
And we'll be back.
To be honest,
the episode next week is going to be a little funky for those listening.
The PCAs are Tuesday night.
So we're not really going to be able to watch the episode.
We are going to have an episode come out on Wednesday.
We just might not be talking about the Bent Tell All at that point.
because hey look we're fucking people's sports nominees and we're going to show i'm so excited and so
proud of you guys good luck with that and let me know how it goes and thank you for having me on great
thank you katea you thank you everyone
