We have watched the first movie, and we are ready to go through it all.

I would actually go, um, tawny owl. I feel like I don't know. The words, it's like if I could see what they look like maybe.

All about magical creatures and how to befriend to care for them. Flying on a broomstick, apparition and disapparition, which is being able to materialize and dematerialize at will. Secrets about the castle, transfiguration, turning one

object into another object, hexes and jinxes. Every area of magic I can. So every area, that's just like everything? They're just like everything. Yeah, like you're a, you're a student. Flying on a broomstick. You want to learn. much as you possibly can. I'm stuck between broomstick or apparition or... That is a good one. I'll do apparition just so we... Although broomstick is fun.

But like Harry Potter gets glory. Yeah. Okay, one of your housemates has cheated in a Hogwarts exam by using a self-spelling quill. Now he has come top of the class in charms beating you into second place. Professor Fletwick is, suspicious of what happens of what happened. He draws you to one side after his lesson and asks you

whether or not your classmate used a forbidden quill. What do you do? You tell him the truth if your classmate is prepared to win by cheating. He deserves to be found out. Also, as you are both in the same house, any points he loses will be regained by you for coming in first place. Second option. You would not wait to be asked to tell Professor Flitwick the truth. If you knew that somebody was using a forbidden quill, you would tell the teacher before the exam started. Three, Lie and say you don't know, but hope that somebody else tells Professor Fletwick the truth. Four, tell Professor Fletwick that he ought to ask your classmate and resolve to tell your classmate that if he doesn't tell the truth, you will.

Three. You're lying. I'm lying and I'm going to hope somebody else tells him. Okay. I'm going to tell him when he asked me. You're going to tell him only when you're asked. Yeah. But like, that's the first one.

He's not my friend. Is he? Still. you would say to ask the classmate or when he asked you, I would tell him. No, when he asked me, I would tell him. Okay, okay. For me, I think I would probably tell him before.

Because then you're a liar if you don't tell him, too. You would not wait. I would not wait to ask. I would probably tattel from the beginning. I'm not a snitch if I don't, you know? Yeah. I'm trying to get first place, so I'm tattling. Heads or tails?

Different words for sort, like, philosopher, sorcerer. You know how there's different words for British things. Hard, but, you know. Yeah. First initial thoughts, because this is a movie, this is the one movie. Are you seen one and two or just one? Okay, so one you have seen before. I have seen one before. How many times? This is my, I definitely saw it when I was way younger when it first came out. But don't remember that.

Okay. Then I watched it again this summer. Yeah. But barely, you know, like it was in the background. Right. That's when you texted me and was like, yo, these movies worth watching. Yeah. If that was the exact way I wanted it to do.

And then this time, last night I had genuinely paid attention to the whole thing and took notes. So we're going to start off. We're going to start off with my notes, very out of context. I just have a list of notes. I'm going to do this for every movie. Just the thoughts that come to my brain as I'm watching. Yep. This is Reyes' train of thought while watching the first movie.

And I want everyone to remember that these are movie characters. So if I'm offensive towards them, it's okay. Okay. All right. I'm intrigued. This guy fat. I'm intrigued by this disclaimer. Yeah.

So, all right, I'll start it off. I'll just read through them and then you can tell me your thoughts. Or if you have a question about one of them, you just jump in. Okay. Being a wizard is a common thing, not some secret thing. Like, and Wizards a Waverly place. Shocking. Like when they went to the other platform, I'm like, so these people are seeing them walk to the wall.

No, that's not. No. They're not. No. Being a wizard, though, is a known thing. No. Muggles don't know wizards exist. So they just don't see you?

No, you just, that's why, like, you're not supposed to. You know, Muggles do not know the wizarding world. Bad start. Bad start. Okay, so. Wait, but how. Tough start. How did Harry's family see them?

Yeah. And like the magic they did to them. What do you mean? Like when he put a tail on that kid. Oh, no. I mean, they see it, but like they don't know. Like the world doesn't know that wizards exist. But they were like, Harry, of course you got in.

Your dad, like they like. Well, because it was in the family. Okay. So the families that have wizards in them know that wizards. Yes. really what I meant by that. Right. Like, Hermione's parents, like, they, like, there's a, you know, if you're, if you're involved, but the Joe Schmoe walking down the street, he doesn't know that. So you're saying when they walk through the wall, people just aren't seeing that happen.

That is correct. Interesting. Because people saw when he took the glass off for the snake. Yeah. Yes. But, and they freaked out. But that wasn't like, oh my God, he's a wizard. That's like, they think something else happened. Yeah. Okay. Yes. Yes. Moving on. Hot start. So first note, wrong. First note, I will be deleting. Muggles do not know that magic

exists. Anyways. Commoners do not know magic exists. Or else everyone would be trying to find Hogwarts. Is the snake talking to Harry in the beginning a metaphor sign for Slytherin? Noted. Good question.

Mom's sister's a bitch, dad is a fat asshole, cousin's a freak. The Dersleys are a tough family to Yeah, and that's what I mean by their movie characters, so don't get offended that I called the dad of fat, the cousin of a freak, and a mom a bitch. Goblins are scary, but also cute. Okay. This was about Harry and Ron on the train. Okay.

They're fucking adorable. Yeah, so cute. They're so cute. The little versions of them. Oh, my God. He just want to squeeze their cheeks. He's got a little dirt on his face. Oh, it's so adorable.

He's like, you mind if I take this seat? He's like, of course. Oh, when he goes, we'll take the lot. Yeah. Oh, it's so fucking cute. Take the lot. Oh, so cute. Good actors.

Yep. Good actors. Good actors. If how Alexa responds to me is any indication of how my broom would respond to me, I would not be good at that. Remember? Oh, Alexa. Like Alexa. Yeah, okay.

People are going to be upset now if they're listening to the podcast. Alexa went off. You saw in L.A., Alexa did not respond well to me. You start screaming out your broom. Right. Up! Up! Yeah.

I feel like maybe too aggressive of a time. Yeah. Okay. For sure. it's hit it's it's it's jumping and hitting you in the face long bottom is a loser but malfoy's not nice okay poor neville i know i i i shot at neville it was a shot at him it was like he's a loser but they're not being nice to him yep if this movie came out now the graphics would be insane yeah i did i i was thinking that too i'm like oh you just have to take it for what when it came yeah this movie came yeah it came

out but i think about 20 years think about harry potter now yeah yeah yeah fucking crazy until they got to the last movies Exactly. Do we fully trust Hagrid? TBD. I can't answer that. Fran is Hermione when she's correcting Ron. Yeah.

She was like, you're not saying it right. Yeah. That's Fran. Yep. Yep. Big time. How did they all become so close so fast? I mean, like, think about, like, going to, like, camp or school.

Like, you got to find your friends. And they made friends fast. Think about, like, your friends. I never really did this, but I always remember, like, I had friends that would go to sleepaway camp for like three weeks. And they were like around this age, right? 11, 12, 13. And they would come back and talk about their camp like best friends.

And I'd be like, what best friend? You know, in three weeks. Yeah, it's crazy. And they're like, her parents. They're not bond fast. She's getting crushed. They're like, Hermione, no. Yeah, yeah.

You know her so well. Very impressive wizards, they are. Five points awarded to each for them taking down the troll. but five points deducted to Hermione. Dangerous. It's just dangerous and crazy that these little kids took down this big troll. That's correct.

And the one thing I could remember from this movie specifically is the boogers. Like for some reason, that stuck with me all from when I was a kid. The only thing I remembered. I was like, troll bogeys. I was like, is this guy going to have boogers?

And he did. And I was like, I remember that. Troll in the dungeon. Snape is acting real suss this whole movie. Real suss. Real suss. The entire movie. He's quiet, but he's fucking with Harry.

Yeah. Yeah. I feel bad for Harry at the end of the movie, but I know he'll end up better than ever. Right. It's sad that he has to leave. Yes. But he has that nice moment. When he's like, we'll be back.

My last note, Voldemort's going to be a problem. And that's a big facts. Voldemort is going to be a problem. Hot take, hot take. This guy, Voldemort. Not a good guy. Night notes. Not good.

Okay, so I have some questions I want to run through Because honestly that, you know, you touched on a lot of the big The big moments. I want to get into it a little bit more. What are your, what were your immediate thoughts on Hogwarts, like the school? The school itself? Like what I want to be there? Like, do I, like as a kid, am I watching that?

I want to be. I understand the obsession with, wow, imagine this was real. Imagine I could go to this school, hang out with my friend. friends. I think it's cool. Yeah. I think it's very cool. I think that sorting day would put me in a tizzy. Like I think I'd be freaking out because happens right away too. You know what it reminded me of when in school, in elementary and middle school all throughout K through 8, first day of school, you never knew who was going to be in your classes. First day of school, you show up, you get online. They tell you which class you're going to be in. And that's when you find out who's in your home room. Yeah, who's in your home room. And usually

That's just the class you have all day long. Even if you transfer classrooms, whatever, that's just your class. Yeah. So it reminded me of that, and that was always, oh, big moment. Yeah. The, this is our first introduction to Quidditch. Yes. Thoughts on the game.

Did it make sense first time watching? No, I was kind of confused. I'm still confused. Yeah. But seems like a cool game. Seems dangerous. Very dangerous. Very dangerous.

I would say teams dangerous. I have questions on when they're on the brooms and they're being shoved into things and the girls going into the tower because they're wizards, do they end up okay? Well, we know they end up hurt. Yeah, because we see that. But in the game, it seems like they kind of just like fly back up.

Yeah, I mean, there are moments where you like get knocked around, but there's also like not getting knocked off your room. when he, when they were learning how to fly and that one kid, like, lost control and was flying. I'm like, this kid could easily just die. Neville. Neville. Neville. Yeah.

The, uh, that is, that is true. Look, there are injuries and they do have, you know, like the infirmary wing, like at Hogwarts where they go and like get taken care of. And yes, there are certain potions that help certain ailments that do not exist in our world. I was like, broken wrist, not bad for, like, flying off a. Yeah, exactly, right? Like, you can still kind of figure out. And you see more of that in the next movie, so I won't detail too much of that.

If you played the game of Quidditch, what position would you want to play? Carrie's a Seeker. Seeker, yeah. I'm kind of confused about... You could be a chaser. The chasers are the ones with the quaffle who are trying to, like, throw the...

quaffle into the, you know, goals, the rings. The keeper, obviously, goalie, kind of similar thing. And the... I think I'd want to be a seeker. The bludgers. The bludger is the ball. The position is called something different. I'd like to think I have good hand-eye coordination, so where would you place me?

Maybe you'd be a good goalie. Not a good goalie. For sure, not a good goalie. Beaters, beaters, beaters. Deaters. I think... Keepers. Keepers.

I think you would be a good beater The beater is the one that has the bat That is like making sure that the bludgers The crazy balls don't like come and knock people off their brooms I feel like I would be good at that I think you would be good at that because sneaky like you're a pretty decent softball player Yes I feel like you're you know

You want to be a chaser? Yeah. Oh, wait. Wait. So, wait. Okay. Okay. I'm getting the mixed up.

Chasers are the ones that they score the goals with the quaffles by getting them into the rings. Oh, and the secret, you're trying to cat. The seeker, your sole goal is just to get the snitch. Yes, yes, yes. Because if you get the snitch, no matter what game's over. Honestly, though, then maybe I want to be the seeker because I just like having that, that's my one thing. Like, that's all I'm focused on. Yeah.

Okay. That would. And that's why when they saw him fly. and catch the thing, she was like, oh, he would make a good sneak. Correct. When Professor McGoggle was like, this guy, he's going on. They go get Oliver Wood. We got to get him onto the team. I loved. Oliver Wood does not, because, like, he's older in this, in the first one. So, like, he did, you don't see much of Oliver Wood ever again, really. But that first movie and, like, watching back when I would

watch them again when I got, like, a little bit older, loved Oliver Wood. He was so cute. And he was on the screen for maybe five minutes. That was it. Did you like Malfoy? I did, yeah, actually. Like, had a crush him. I liked Tom Felton. Yes.

Like, not, I didn't like Draco, like the character, but I liked Tom Felton, the actor. Noted. Because he also had very similar vibes to, um, the drummer in the drummer in school rock. I thought it was him for a second. Yeah. Yeah. Like, and that's, like, that, he was my first crush.

And then you put, like, put Tom Felon in the mix. I was like, and he's a cute. despite the blonde like you know he's a cutie pie um big time now i have a list of characters that i want you to put in order of you know who you're interested in most so before we do that just a reminder that if you are sitting and relaxing and watching these movies you should do it with the corz light hang out relax take that meantime course light is the beer that is made to chill there's so many things going on right now. Look, that's how you feel the end. This, and I also understand that because right now, this is very much an intro movie. And this first movie, Dumbledore's really that involved. That's what I'm saying. Dumbledore to me right now, just seems like the guy in charge that I don't know much about him. Super fair. And I'm not, I know he's going to be big, obviously, but he just seems like the guy in charge that I'm not worried about right now. Yeah. All these other little, not little characters, but these little kids. Yeah. I'm really not interested in. Super fair. And the teacher, you know. Yeah. Understood. Understood. Because, you know, then there are, of course, a bunch of teachers that filter in and out for the rest of the movies

because that's like the whole thing they can't keep a defense against the dark arts teacher Snave's at the top because I know he's fucking with Harry and I want to know why and also he's quiet yeah and sneaky and I also feel like he's not going to be a bad guy there's a lot of mystery behind him like I feel like there's a lot of layers to him he could be a bad guy but he could also be a good guy so I'm I'm interested in him yeah and Draco I'm just interested interested in because it's just like a little asshole What's his kid up to? Yeah.

And obviously you get to see more family-wise come the next movie when it comes to him. I think I'm most interested in Ron out of the three kids, Ron, Harry and Hermione. Just because Harry we know like the most about. So it's not like, there's no secret about him. I'm obviously interested in Harry. Yeah. He's the main guy. Yeah.

I think I'm more interested in Ron than Hermione because I feel like we know what Hermione's about and what she's always going to be about. Like I think Hermione is a very strong. smart little girl. I think she's going to grow up to be extremely smart. She sticks by her morals. I think she sticks by what she is and who she is. Ron, I feel like we're going to see a lot of growth from him. He's not all that caught up. He can't pronounce things correctly. He's clumsy. And they're like, oh, it's another weasley. Yeah. And I feel like, yeah, that's you. And I feel like they're just like, oh, he's another weasley. And then he's going to like prove himself. Love that. I have a question. Where do his brothers go? Like, when weasley,

the other Weasley brothers they went through, where are they? Like, when they all went through the platform, like his whole family. Yeah. They're all going. Did they just drop him off or like... They dropped him off? And then they went back? Well, the twins are also at Hogwarts. They're a year older. Okay, so they got on the train. There's like another grade. Like, they went to their compartment to like say with their friends because they're

coming back for another year. And Percy as well. Like Percy is like, you know, they all, they're all different ages. They're not all going to hang out. Ginny's the youngest, so she's not there yet. And the other brothers are older. So they're like, they're done and out. Now, this is much broader because, you know, you just got introduced to a ton of characters. But can you name a favorite and least favorite from so this movie? Hmm.

Well, my least favorite or favorites would be the Dursleys. Mm-hmm. But they're not really in it. Yeah, no, but that, I, but they're in the beginning. That counts. And I would like, I would like collectively as a family. Okay. The entire family.

family the drinks is. And my favorite's Ron, just because he's so fucking cute in this movie. Yeah, he's really cute. For me, this movie, I go, Hagrid's my favorite in this one, and least favorite goes to Petunia. I'm just, Aunt Petunia does.

who's the brat uh brother of harry what's his name cousin cousin cousin or cousin dudley dudley he's definitely my least favorite i was like this kid sucks like when he said when he was like 36 presents like I'm like this kid yeah uh I feel like it's like cliche but like Harry is just like yeah the favorite my favorite and he's so forget he is they are all so cute in this first one um and that goes like you watch them all grow up and then it's like funny because you're like oh boy they're all going through puberty in this one you can just tell

immediately and I'm going to go through I just have a couple more mentions for the first one that we can discuss being introduced to things one just the whole end of the movie you know they go they go past fluffy fluffy I always really liked

dog person something about the three-headed dog goes like and Hagrid's love for animals love um the obstacle courses i guess you could say they have to go through the wizard chess is always the one that's most talked about and i feel like now goes viral like all the all the time still like people use that sound on tic talk all the time not may not hamini you i think that um i mean besides that question just the accent you just did i think my favorite part about this movie is they all have accents. They just all have accents. And I'm just drawn into that. Yeah. You would think

I'd be better at a better accent for the amount of time I've spent watching these movies. You're pretty good. I was thinking, I'm like, if these people were American, like, this would be so much worse. Yeah. I feel like, um, like the end of the movie and I just feel like it was, uh, one big setup for the rest of the films. Right? Like, they got through it. Like, they, you know, it's like they, they saved the day. Harry saves the day. Like, yeah. But bad shit's going to happen

Ron, it goes back and forth, but the, I have my favorite Ron moment. I like the, I have my favorite Ron moment. It's either troll in the dungeon with him in the bathroom or with him refusing to relax when they're trying to get through the, you know, giant plant. The name is escaping me. And the, my favorite Hermione moment is. when she goes through the big book and finds Nicholas Fomel. She was like, I checked this out months ago to do a bit of light reading.

And they're like light reading. Like, yeah, that's my favorite Hermione moment. I think it's so funny the way that they respond to her. She just sounds like a woman. Yeah. My favorite Ron moment is when he's able to get the thing out of the troll's hand. Yeah. And he goes, cool.

Yeah. That was it. That's exactly it. He was just like, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Yeah. Um, my favorite one moment was when he was like, when he shows him the scar and he's just like, wicked. Yeah, yeah, that's a good one. He has some good one. That is a good one. It's tough because hair, I do love the first moment, but Harry with the, um, the mirror as well, I think gets me like every time

emotional. I think that they're, it's so hard to pick a favorite Harry moment because he's just the whole movie. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm trying to think of mine. Which one is like the best one. Yeah. And Hermione is. It's more so... Just the way she talks down to them. You're a bunch of idiots. Just the way she talks down to them, but also they're the same age. And they're all so little.

Yeah. And her hair is just so big. Oh, her hair is so big. Her hair is so big. I was thinking that the whole time. I was like, her hair is so big. I know. I like when she was like, when Harry, like, flew up on the broom and she's like, one idiot.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a good. What's an... Idiots. Yeah. Oh, and what you said before when her— Troll bogeys. Yeah.

And then obviously at the end, we get the big reveal. is not who he claims to be. He's got the whole Voldemort vibe. I mean, Voldemort, back of his head, nesting, basically, off this man. And, yeah, initial thoughts on that. Did you think that was scary? Not scary. Can you imagine it? Like, because I remember watching that when I was little. I was like, this is pretty freaky. I do remember watching when I was little. And I remember that freaking me out. Yeah, that might have been a reason why. Like the face coming out of the head.

Yeah. That freaks me out too because I'm more scared of things now than I was when I was a kid. Yeah. And so like after that, you know, I watched the movie last night. And it was like, okay, I got to get up and put the lights on and like walk out into the kitchen and like just see other things. Yeah. And I can't have that be the last thing I go to bed with. Yeah.

So yeah, a little freaky. But then at the same time, I was like the goblums were fucking scary looking at well and then I said that they were cute so yeah yeah what um so Harry you know the whole face he hands on the he's got the stone hands on the Voldemore and squirrel like breaks into pieces and Voldemort's weird spirit like flies off what's what I guess this is more of like a question right what connections like do you think that's just shows how connected Harry and Voldemore are going to be like what expectations do you have for the two of them Well, so I think that this movie has a good ending in a way that it's not like where you watch

the movie it ends. You're like, what's going to happen next? Yeah, right? It's a movie that ends. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it could end there. Obviously, the books were out. For sure.

Wouldn't happen. But it's one of those movies. It's like, okay, the second movie is going to be something completely different, still involving the characters in this one. He's obviously going to come back. Like there's going to be all these things that happen. I just am, I have no idea. Legit no idea how it's all going to happen because I feel like that was a good ending to

a movie. Right. It does. Like it ties up. Maybe because they didn't know like if that was, how it was going to be received and they're like, we got to end this, you know? Right. I don't know if that.

I'm pretty sure they, they had already locked. Because like Harry, like. There was no cliffhanger. I thought. Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert and Emma Watson. and I think like signed very long-term deals from the beginning. Am I wrong with saying that there's no cliffhanger? No, you're not at all because they're very much.

I don't want to miss something. I just thought that it was like. I think that like if you didn't know, like if you watch, you could be like, oh, Voldemort is gone. You could be like, oh, maybe that like got rid of them. You know, you don't know. But because the movies. Yeah, yeah. Because if I watched this and this was the first movie that I saw and I never read the books

or anything, I would be like, oh, he's gone. Right. And if I don't know what's coming next, knowing that there's. seven more movies ahead of me and he's a bad guy. I know that he's going to be involved going forward. Yeah. To wrap it up, one of my favorite things when I do go back and watch this movie that makes me laugh is at the end when they're doing the House Cup and granting all the points,

it's like, oh, Slythe Run's win. And it's a total fake out, but it gets me every time because Dumbledore is just like such a made-up system. Like there's no rules. There's no rhyme or reason to it. It's like, Ron, Hermione, 50 points. Harry, 60 points. Yeah. We're just going to give Harry

a little more. And then it's just like Neville, 10 points. Yeah. Just to put them right, just to put them right over the edge. Right. I love it every time. Yeah. I am going back to when they beat the troll in the beginning of the movie and she

takes away five points. Yeah. But then adds. For sheer dumb luck. Yes. And then, but then adds both of them. So it's like, I feel like this is going to happen a lot throughout the movies where points are taken away and then points are given in the same circumstance. But it doesn't make sense to me.

Why even take the points away from Hermione? She's the one who went after the troll. They would never even get those points if it wasn't for Hermione. So what's interesting. What she was happy about. She was fine with it. What's interesting and I, of course, don't want to give too much away is that you'll see that some things,

Because there's so much content in these books and they have to cut them down a lot for the movies, certain things from the movies like disappear. There are certain things that just stop happening. And they happen in the books. But for movie purposes, they just can't physically fit into all these things. Plus they also change directors for a bunch of these movies. So like the tone shifts a lot of times as they like get older. But the House Cup is one of the funniest things because it is very prevalent. in the first one and really not so much in any of the rest.

Yeah, I am getting the vibe that the first movie is very different than the rest of them. Yeah, yeah. Because the first movie, you just, like the book, it is such a setup. It is, you're meeting all these characters. They're giving you all like the Hogwarts ground rules and everything that's happening. And then the rest of the movies have such like a clear plot as like something happens that has to be fixed or solved or something like that where it's less about like just the ongoings of class

and Hogwarts and things like that but like the first one is very much. I kind of like that stuff to be. Like a setup. No, I like the setup. It's still very much included and it's all there. But it does go down like it is a very good like first initial set up movie. Now let's let's wrap it up.
