Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners. You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music. This is state of emergency. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Rianne, giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday. Hopefully everyone had an amazing start to their week
Starting point is 00:00:31 and are ready to gear up to get into the end of the week, into the weekend. And how are you doing? I'm great besides the fact that I thought my voice would be back a little bit more than it is. I feel like I sound better than I did yesterday. A little bit, yeah. It just kind of hurts more. You sounded really bad yesterday.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I didn't sound. It sounded worse last night. I thought it was the worst to hurt. Yesterday morning it didn't actually hurt. But are you doing any of your vocal exercises? I don't know what a vocal exercise is. Maybe you should look it up and study it and ask them, no, because she... What are they doing in high school musical?
Starting point is 00:01:11 Like, what is... Yeah. Like, I don't think that's going to help when my voice is already gone. I think it's more like just drinking tea and not talking that much. I think maybe that helps to prevent losing your voice. Right. So maybe when we need to get on that. So...
Starting point is 00:01:27 Don't knock until you try it. Needed to cut back. I drink a lot of... I have throat tea. The best thing is to not talk, right? Yeah. Unfortunately, like we talked about last episode, it's her craft. It's impossible.
Starting point is 00:01:40 It's impossible when it's your craft. I burned my head this morning. You did. And now I have a memory of it on my head. I have a scar. I saw it. Harry Potter. I, you know, pushed your hair back a little bit.
Starting point is 00:01:54 I was like, what's going on there? It was one of those things where I did it and it hurt and then I didn't think too much about it. I was like, oh, whatever. It'll be fine. No, there's a mark. But scars remind us that we've all been through something hard. came out on the other side. I'm only saying that because I was rewatching dead to me yesterday. I also don't think you're going to have that. It's not going to start. She said exactly those words.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Oh. Not exactly, but Dead to me season three is coming out next week, which I'm excited about. Very exciting. And so I was rewatching the first and second season because I need to remind myself what happened in the second season. I definitely have to do that too. I forget completely. When did the last season come out? I mean, it was years ago. Years like actually years ago. Pre-COVID. Yeah. 2019, maybe? Really good show. Christina Applegate is such. to gems. So was Linda Cardalini. They are gems. Ted to me, season two was...
Starting point is 00:02:42 Oh, no, 2020. I'll never forget that when that show first came out, it was before you saw it, and I think they were pitched to us, and you guys were like, and one of you was like, who? No, I would never say who to those actresses. We never said who. We just said, Cardalini, to me, I said, Scooby-Doo.
Starting point is 00:03:02 And first of all, I would never say, who did those actresses. Take that back right. now. I just did. I took it back. God forbid we said who to them. We were more like, sometimes we get guests that are, or they say, hey, do you want these people.
Starting point is 00:03:15 And we are hesitant because one nervousness, I think, in like, are we going to. Don't meet your heroes. For me, sometimes that is it. But it's more just like, are we going to vibe? Which then after watching, I was like, fuck, we totally. That's what it was. totally should have asked because they're very funny in the show. We just weren't sure that we weren't sure what the show was going to be.
Starting point is 00:03:41 The show didn't come out. So it was just, you know, confusing. I don't know exactly if we said no, though. I'm not 100% sure about that. I feel like we didn't say no. I think if I heard Christine Applegate, I don't know if I would say no to that. I don't think we did. I'm pretty sure we did not.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I would even if we did, even if there was hesitation, I think we may have said, well, let's try. and if they say yes, then we'll deal with it after that. Yes. We never reached that point. Yes, I did watch Freaks and Geeks. No, I've never watched it. What? Great show.
Starting point is 00:04:16 One season. Freaks and Geeks is one of those. I already have three friends. Why do I need any more? Freezing Geese is one of those that was like everybody talks about how sad it was that it only went from one season. So I'm like, but it's a great one season to watch that.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And they're all so young. It's just like looking back and busy Phillips has talked about how mean they were to her during the filming of that show. I think she says James Franco, which wouldn't surprise me. I don't know. That's alleged. I don't know. I might be making that up, but I know she said someone was really mean to her on that show. And I have a feeling is James Franco. It's a good guess. I was looking at myself in the mirror this morning as I was getting ready. And I said, bitch, you really are 25. Like I felt like a 25 year old today. Did just hit you? Yeah. I was like, oh my God. You're growing up right before.
Starting point is 00:05:05 your own eyes. Was it a physical thing or are you just having a moment and you look like a woman with yourself? Yeah, I was like you look like a woman, you know? Okay. I just had, it was a weird moment. That's lovely, a little weird, but lovely. And it might be because I'm wearing a brown shirt for the first time ever. You don't, you know, I, you walk back into the room and I was like, what is that she's never worn. I've never worn a brown shirt and I think that's what it was. I said, wow, that is so adult of you. It's very funny. You really don't like brown. But it's such a nice color on you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Like us Italian ladies, you know, it's a nice color. It's, you have a nice, the olive skin tone. Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much. I wear brown all the time. I know you do. Well, I walked into a story yesterday and I thought to myself, oh, my God, if Fran could own one store, it must be this one because everything looked like something Fran would buy.
Starting point is 00:05:55 And I thought to myself, you know, you need some work clothes. You get, you know, I got all going out shirts. So no wonder you were looking at yourself like you were a 20 million. You're like, wow, finally graduated my wardrobe. Well, it was more like I have a lot of shirts to go out on the weekend or outfits to wear on the weekend that I wouldn't, I could wear it to work if I wanted to spice it up one day, but like not just on a normal Tuesday. So I was like, that's a lovely sign of maturing. Thank you. And so I was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:06:21 I need some, I need some Fran clothes. I went into the store and I was like, let me see what they got. And I came out with this brown shirt. I put it on today. I looked at the mirror and I said, holy fuck, you're 25. And that's great. You're so mature. You know, and then I bought a bookshelf.
Starting point is 00:06:38 I'm starting to connect the pieces here a little bit of you keep telling me, you know, I'm not getting old, but you're looking, I feel like you. No, it's not old. It's mature. You went through some things that I would do. And then you looked at yourself in the mirror and went, no, no. But did I go, or did I go, that's awesome. Did you?
Starting point is 00:06:59 I said, I just said multiple times. I look, I said, that's awesome. And you got a bookshelf. and I got a bookshelf. Which, I'm not planning on reading. There's not going to be books. No, no, no. I already asked her.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I was like, there won't be any books on here. It's more like, I'm not going to become friend because we're. My book, we're separate people and we should be that way. And my bookshelf has a lot of books, but there's also a lot of little knickknacks and things. Right, and I was like, how cute would that be? And so I got myself when I don't plan on, like, I'm not coming on here being like, I'm going to start reading. Like, that's not where I was going with this.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I'm not like, I'm changing my life around. and I'm 25, I'm going to read. No, but it's more having like a grown-up place to live. Right, exactly. Where you have like a bookshelf. A shelf that has picture frames and maybe a couple of coffee table books, a plant, a candle. Yes, just homey, home-de-cour. And so that comes with a lot of browns and beigees and creams.
Starting point is 00:07:59 I love the neutral. Neutral colors. I'm a big neutral guy. Neutral. Listen, I... We all matched at the live show. We did. I have never...
Starting point is 00:08:07 I don't think I've been a neutral girl. Like, I don't think I've been a neutral color person. I'm... No, but you don't... You do, like, blacks. Right. But, like, you're definitely not in the... Like, the beige neutrals.
Starting point is 00:08:21 No. The creams and the browns. But I'm picking up, like, for homie vibes, that's the place I want to live in. Yeah, yeah. It is nice. It feels like home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Maybe because you feel like home to me. I don't know. Maybe there's something deeper there. There's a deeper message. Speaking of deep, Powerball, right? So somebody in California won $2 billion. $2 billion. $2 billion?
Starting point is 00:08:44 Right. It's high as it's ever been. $2 billion. This was an off-the-record conversation that I will now bring on the record that I said to Fran, because she was like, what do you even do that money? I said I would only do this podcast, right? That's a good question. I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:09:02 No, no, I would do the podcast. It was very nice. I think we would stop like everything, like, guess all that. We'd stop all that. And I would just hop on like a Zoom. Well, this is the thing. We would live in, no, no, no, we would live in our respective homes. But like, also we'd finish.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Yeah. So we would live in our respective homes. This would have more detail. And she would share. I would share the two billion with the group because I would want everyone to feel comfortable that we don't have to put in any more effort. We're going to keep the pocketstone, but we're putting no effort in. No, no, get on and talk three times a week.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I couldn't, this is things you, you think about it, I, Ria couldn't be like in her beautifully professional custom studio and her mansion wherever she decides to live and me on my Yeti mic in my apartment. That would be funny, actually. So, you know, I think we would, we could all be in our respective homes, but we'd have the money to create, like, our own set. Yeah, I would buy you each a home. I would buy you each a home, each a car,
Starting point is 00:10:05 and also set your studio up if I got that $2 billion. And so then from that point, we're just fucking relaxing, baby, we're not going anywhere. We're working from home. We're going to, I'm taking you guys on team vacations. I mean, that amount of money is like just never ending. No, never. So it's like, we're doing team vacations,
Starting point is 00:10:22 but we're not working on them. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I'm imagining like, we're a billionaires. And I'm like, we got a vlog. Noah's eyes have lit up tremendously thinking, Well, don't worry, that's who billion went to somebody in California. How much is taxed out of that, though? I think realistically, it's like half.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Oh, my God. I mean, so you still get a billion? So you got a billion dollars. You could take care of everybody in your life at that point. I mean, a billion dollars, like, you could buy a car every day and just never. Right. That would be a total waste of money and energy, but yeah. So would I get, would you give me like a salary or?
Starting point is 00:10:55 No, we would still work here. Oh, really? Your salary would still be here. Oh. We would still work here. But, you know, we'd, we'd lay low. We'd just do the podcast. You could buy Barcelona at that point.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Oh, my God. Imagine. But I wouldn't want to be in charge of it. I don't want to buy it and benefit from it, but I don't want to be running anything. I don't want any responsibilities. If you make that kind of money, if I got that out of money, like boom.
Starting point is 00:11:23 You could buy a sports team. Would you buy a sports team? No. No. No, no, no, no. No. That seems like not for me. That's also just like a risky massive responsibility. Responsibility.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Not really. I feel like owners like owners don't really do anything. Some owners are like extremely involved in their teams. I know, but some like didn't, it's like Mathrikanah, Elon Musk and who else are like getting or buying. Well, there's people that are like minority owners if you buy like 8% of the team. But I mean in reality like Robert Kraft of the Patriots, you have like Bill Belchick is doing all the heavy lifting. But you still have. No. Listen, I want, if I win $2 billion from the Powerball, I want no responsibilities. That's why I said I would just take care of you guys, so I don't even have to think twice if you guys are okay.
Starting point is 00:12:07 So winners can choose to receive a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity with the prize being paid out over 30 years. Most financial experts advise winners to take the lump sum, and that's what most winners opt to do. If there's a winner who chooses the lump sum option, they could take home roughly nine, $929.1 million, the second highest cash price ever. The winner will owe 24% to the IRS and federal taxes and then additional taxes when they file because when you win that much money, it puts you at the top of the tax bracket. And it also then there are the state taxes. There are 14 states that don't have additional tax on lottery winnings, which is in California. So that's big for the person who just won. But other states do. Wait, so you're saying you could either take $9.29 million right now or wait to get more over the course of 30 years? Yeah, but you still have to pay taxes on the, I mean, you still have to pay taxes if it's paid out over 30 years. I'm taking the lump. But I'm just saying, like, what's the benefit to each?
Starting point is 00:13:21 Like, why would you wait 30 years? I think it's just, that's like more for just the shock value of all of a sudden. in having a billion dollars. I think I would just take the billion dollars because you don't know what's going to happen. And it's like, I feel like you could die tomorrow. Exactly. Yeah. Okay, so say I got this billion dollars.
Starting point is 00:13:39 What would you even talk about in the podcast? Oh. Damn. Like, there's nothing to even talk about it. Well, I mean, our interests would still be the same. We would talk about celebrity gossip. You would be, would you be like friends with celebrities all of a sudden? No, but because most lottery winners also don't reveal themselves as lottery winners.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Like the guy person, in California, like, their name isn't announced. You don't know who it is. I would probably announce it, though, on this podcast. I would say, guys, I won the lottery. It's dangerous. Very dangerous. People don't do it because it's very dangerous.
Starting point is 00:14:10 So, okay, question. I get a billion or $2 billion, and I say, I want to buy you each a home and a car. Yeah. How pricey are you going with the home? As pricey as I can. Okay. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:14:25 What would be your cut off. How many mill? Well, are you giving us a cutoff? No, I say, hey, she's asking how greedy you would be. Yeah, I say, hey. You have $2 billion. No, but I go like this. Hey, no, put yourself really in the situation. And I go, all right, guys, time. I want you guys to each pick out your homes. And you know what? You do whatever you want. Okay, I just want $2 billion. You do you.
Starting point is 00:14:50 To be honest, I might, um, I might, I might pick a dollar amount. and then perhaps get two homes. What? Oh, Fran. Smart. Like, I would, like, I would go for... She wouldn't want two places to live. That's smart.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I could do, like, a very understated... You want one in Italy or something? No, no, no. Like, where I'm gonna, you know, I'm gonna raise my kids in this area somewhere. I pick somewhere here that's in a nice neighborhood, but, like, isn't a fucking $10 million home. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Summer house. A beach house. A beach house. That's more expensive. And then an apartment... No, I wouldn't... I wouldn't, I wouldn't care about the apartment. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:25 I want, like, a huge penthouse. No. Not of that. I would right now, am I like, but later in life. Okay, so what's the number? But are we saying this is like tomorrow? Tomorrow, yeah, what's the number? I think, I think I would ask for...
Starting point is 00:15:40 In reality, I would find out with... I think I would ask for eight. Eight mil? Yeah. I'd bump it to ten. Thank you. Because you tell you that? Because you asked for...
Starting point is 00:15:49 Yeah, I'd go, I go eight, let's round up. Ten. See, I would have to find out with Frank, because I would have to go lower than Fran. What would you have said? I wouldn't give you lower than Fran. I would give you guys the same amount. But just for like, oh yeah,
Starting point is 00:16:03 what would you have asked 20? I wouldn't want to ask. It would just be weird if Fran got like a 10 and I asked for like 30. Yeah, you would text Fran and say, Hey, what did you do? What should we do?
Starting point is 00:16:13 Like, how much should we go? And Fran says, Fran would be like eight. I'd be like, no, friend. You have to go like 25 so I can go like 15. Well, Fran will be like, let's go eight because she might say 10.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Yeah, like whatever we say. Eight is strategic. strategic because you, oh, I'm going to say eight. No, I'm going to bump it to 10. Maybe even 15 if you're lucky. What number would you say no to me? Anything higher than 50 mil? So I could go like 45 and you'd be like, no, I would be like, no, come on. I need some, I need to help my family. I'd be like, you have two billion. You're going to say no to me. I think you have $950 million. I think, I said anything. Right. I think at 20 million, 20 million would be the highest I'd go. No, because it's also nice if you are the winner. I got to take care of my family. Think about all the trust you can set up for your kids. Your kids. Your kids. That's not boring. Your grandkids. Right. Like everybody will be set forever. Like my, the people are like, your grandkids are great, great, great, grandmother Maria gave us this. Yep. You know. And then that's a very, that's a very lovely idea. All right. So I'll ask for, I think 15's a
Starting point is 00:17:19 solid number for me. Well, he thinks he's a 15 million dollars home. He thinks he's getting more than me. No, see, that's the thing. If you're getting 15, she would get 20. That's what I'm saying. I said that. I don't want to get more than Fran. It would be like a weird dynamic. You wouldn't get more than Fran. No, I know. So I don't even care of you.
Starting point is 00:17:37 You just said it. I don't even care that. You don't want it. Honestly, guys, this is going to make me upset that we're not getting $10 million from Ria. I actually feel so rich right now. So rich. Wouldn't that just be great to just not worry about it? It's crazy that this part, like, and it's also crazy that it was a single ticket. Like a lot of times there's, it's like, but the last time, I just read this.
Starting point is 00:17:58 The last time that there was. was a lottery winner it was isn't there a thing where a lot people who went I think it was split between
Starting point is 00:18:10 three people in three states yeah the previous record Powerball was back in 2016 when it reached 1.58 billion and it was
Starting point is 00:18:18 split by three winners in California, Florida and Tennessee this one was just a single ticket that's crazy it's been that long one ticket
Starting point is 00:18:26 I can't just one person yeah what would you do like in that moment bought out a gas station apparently when you found that
Starting point is 00:18:32 What would be the first thing you did that you won? It was also a sketch that there was a delay in the system when it was supposed to. That was, I thought that was sketch. It's like they just dropped the fucking balls into the thing. Right. I was like, hmm, weird. Yep. I don't know what my first reaction would be.
Starting point is 00:18:48 I think I'd be very shaken up. I think you'd be in denial for quite some time. You'd be shaken up? Of course you'd be shaken up. If you won $2 billion? I'd just be like. I think I'd think you'd have, I'd be, I'd think I'd just be like staring at a wall for like three days. I would immediately...
Starting point is 00:19:03 Before I finally was like, what the fuck do I do? I think I'd go spend all the money I have. I would immediately call a financial advisor. Yep, that's all very responsible choices here. Because I would, I'd be like, I can't handle this. This just can't just go into my normal banking account right now. Have you ever seen Lost? No.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Fran, you've seen Lost, right? No. You've never seen Lost? Nope. Oh, well, the guy who wins a lottery and then he has, like, all this bad luck comes to him. Everything you say... not everything, but a lot of times you just go to this cynical route to things.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Yesterday, I wasn't on camera, but we were talking about something. And I was like, but why? Why do you have to say that? Oh, yeah. I forgot what it was, but it just was something dark. And I was like, but why is that your initial reaction? How many times do I say that to him?
Starting point is 00:19:51 Anyway, California, the winning ticket was bought a chosenist, realist, optimist. That's not true. I would say. I would say, I'm a realist. The winning, with pessimistic tendencies. And you're a realist. No, I feel like France is actually more pessimistic.
Starting point is 00:20:09 With real, realist tendencies. She is. Joe's service center in Altadena is where the winning ticket. You got to be pissed if you work there, right? Yeah. You're like, oh, it couldn't have been me. Wow. California lottery makes its first ever billionaire.
Starting point is 00:20:30 One lucky ticket. Well, it's. It's like when the guy caught judge's home run. They got to get him out of there immediately. But I get that because he has it in his hand. Right, but they could find out where this guy lives and rob him. But like he doesn't have the money yet. Like it's just,
Starting point is 00:20:44 right? Just in general. It's all like you can protect your privacy. That's like, you can't be having everyone know the name of bank accounts. Yeah, you could hack your phones, harass your family members. Like, it could.
Starting point is 00:20:58 The list goes on and on. That would be the worst thing. Yeah. All the family members. Or even all your, even harassed by your own family. Imagine how many family members are calling you because you won. And they're like, congrats!
Starting point is 00:21:10 And they're looking for just a quick meal. Hey, listen, Noah asked for $15 million. So please, I'll get past you because I'm dealing with that right now. Yeah. So that was the biggest one. I wish, man. It feels like I'm really rich. If I won the lottery, what would you expect me to do the same with you guys?
Starting point is 00:21:26 I'm a very giving person and I don't think that everyone else is like that. So no, I don't. No, I think you're less generous. Oh, my God. I do. I would consider myself a very generous person. Well, now I'm not going to give you after that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:39 No, I would give you guys stuff. But you wouldn't, you wouldn't be given us 15 mil. I mean, I don't think I would. I'm not going to like that. I don't think you would either. I 100% would. She's almost too generous with her money sometimes. I am.
Starting point is 00:21:53 I get in trouble for that a lot. But I like to give to people because I feel very fortunate. Even when you're that rich, it's a lot of money. It's just like. give someone. Yeah, but some, you know, when you have so much, it's like, two different type of people right here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:08 Playing out right before everybody's eyes. I mean, just to be like, yeah, I'm going to give like, just between me and frame would be like $50 million. So you're just going to give away? You said 15. It'd be 30 mil. Stop raising your price. You're not getting that much.
Starting point is 00:22:24 But yes, I would just give that. Like I, I, because you have so much. I have so much. Like, I have lived my life perfectly fine. You give your parents way more than us. Yeah, but I have lived my life perfectly fine without all that money, so I'll be okay giving some of it away. Wow.
Starting point is 00:22:40 It's also just such an obscene number. Like, it's like, yeah, it's just like, 900 and. You never see the late at the end of the money. Like, realistically, you get 900 million dollars. I think the weirdest thing would be seeing that number on your bank account. Right. So you get, you guys get 30 million. Then I give to my siblings and to my parents.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Sarah and Devin You're certainly not putting the whole 900 in one bank account That would be irresponsible See these are the things I don't know See you shouldn't win the lottery Yeah It wouldn't be good for you Yeah
Starting point is 00:23:13 All right anyways Anyway congrats to that person in California For living out our dream You're really lucky Hopefully maybe you have some people you work with that You might give some of your money too Who knows Shoutout Joe's Service Center
Starting point is 00:23:24 And Altadena Let's get into Let's get into the topics for today's podcast We're going to be talking about Back to the Beach with Lauren Conrad, a podcast hosted by Kristen Cavalery and Stephen Coletti, where they did a little recap with Lauren. They got her. They got her, which was the main person we were waiting for, and they got her. Chris Evans was named People's Sexiest Man Alive to nobody surprise. We are also going to be talking about Grace Van Patten and Jackson White are officially a couple. I think we all knew that, but now it's like on Instagram. Feels very official. And Bachelor in Paradise. Quick little recap. It is quite quick. Trent's not here. It's just us. It's just us, gals.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Just us. All right, let's get into it. Starting off with Back to the Beach. It's time to start thinking about gifts, guys. They have great quarter-zips, hoodies, performance teas. I love their performance teas for working out. I think they're very comfortable. Starting point is 00:24:46 But since it is the holiday season, we couldn't think of a better gift for the men in your life than row back. So whether it's your husband, boyfriend, brother, uncle, or anyone else, help them update their wardrobe this holiday season with, Roeback. The men in my life love Roeback. Starting point is 00:25:35 holiday season they might be releasing some new gear so you don't want to miss it so make sure you get all your holiday shopping done early and check them out at rowback.com with our code chicks for 20% off they did it they got Lauren on lovely to see the three of them together they all look fabulous I must say they are they are aging so gracefully and when Lauren said that they're approaching their 20th high school reunion, I was like, whoa. Yeah, that's crazy. But it was really fun to watch all of them talk about it. And you get the real perspective behind the scenes view because you were watching a bunch of high school kids.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Yeah. You know, a love triangle that wasn't even really a love triangle. They explained, you know, a lot of it was hammed up for the cameras from the producers. But they also, I appreciate when people who were on shows like this. also appreciate the producers where they're like, they had a job and they did it rather than like fuck them for making us feel that way and it's like
Starting point is 00:26:35 but they also, they did have a job and they made the show successful. Right. And led to all of them having careers. Yes. And they said that all of them wouldn't take it back. They would do it again and because they have had so much success since
Starting point is 00:26:52 then. It was just really interesting to see the dynamic of Kristen and Lauren because if you watch the Laguna Beach and you watch the hills, then you would think that these... I wanted them to talk about the hills. I know so. I was, I... I don't know if that's the word I'm looking for.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Lived and died by the hills. Like, genuinely, my friends and I would go to school and in class, we would pretend like we were in the... On the hills. Like, we would be in math class, and we'd be like, we're taking measurements for a fashion class. Like, we just pretended like we were in the hills at all times. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:27 We, my friend and I would have a camera where we would film scenes at home. Like, we, I, you weren't watching live. No, I was watching live. I was in like seventh grade. Was I watching live? Yeah, I was. I was. It wrapped what year did it wrap.
Starting point is 00:27:49 The Hill's final season was in 2010. Yeah, so I was in high school. I was in seventh grade when it wrapped. Yeah. And so I was watching it when I was in middle school. And I kid you not. We were so obsessed with it. We were like, wow, we're celebrating Lauren's birthday again.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Like, it was sick. I was so obsessed with the Hills. And so... Was it very disappointing to your seventh grade self when it was all fake? Oh, my fucking God. When they were... The final scene of the Hills, I have chills. We'll go down as one of the most dramatic scenes in the history of television.
Starting point is 00:28:24 When they remove the green screen and Brody is sent and Kristen, she drives back around. and they give them a, oh, my, me and my friend call each other like, holy shit, what the fuck? I probably didn't say what the fuck, but I was like freaking out, freaking out. Yeah. I can't, I have chills. I can't even put it into words.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Seriously, one of the greatest moments in television ever. But I don't know if I was quite disappointed because I think that we had heard rumblings before that it was kind of fake. Yeah, yeah. I just didn't know, like, how, you know, middle, when you're in middle school, you're, you might not be hearing as much of the outside chatter about the show, you know? We did, though, because my friend's mom was also obsessed with it. And so she would keep us in the loop of like things she would hear and read online.
Starting point is 00:29:10 We weren't doing as much of that. I do remember having one specific conversation with my best friend, though, where we were watching Audreyina talk and we were rewatching. I know it ended. And then we were doing a rewatch in eighth grade and we were going to high school. and I was like if I ever, like, you know, things are changing. We're going into high school. And I was like, if I start talking like Audrina, just kill me. Like I was like, I remember we sat down and specifically had this conversation.
Starting point is 00:29:38 We're like, we're going to be changing. You know, we're going into high school. We cannot start talking like Audreyna. Like for some reason we thought that was going to happen. But. I'm trying to think of like. It was just like very California. It's just like Valley Girl.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Valley Girl, vocal fry, a little bit of that. And I just was, I don't, was under the. the assumption when you grew up, you started talking like that. You could become a valley girl? I didn't know. I just, I didn't know. But I assumed that Kristen and Lauren really hated each other. Like that's, I think everyone was under that impression watching Laguna Beach in the hills. And from this, I gathered that they really didn't.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Like there was some underlying drama, but like they didn't really dislike each other. That's why I wanted them. I would love to hear more of their opinion on like their dynamic with the hills because it always felt like it was more like what's the right word that they were just there was a lot of like animosity between the two of them on the hills like unspoken right but the way that they talked about laguna beach it was like was that even real did they really have that animosity towards each other because it doesn't seem like it doesn't seem like it at all I think maybe that just like trickled into their real life because the the whole public thought that.
Starting point is 00:30:57 And then they would do interviews and stuff and they'd be asked about each other. And like I think there was a back and forth there from time to time. But to hear them talk about Laguna Beach definitely was, it's, you know, it's eye-opening because they were so young. And they didn't even really fully know what was going on in their lives. You know, Lauren was like, I've never actually watched the show. Like she was like, I watched when it was out. Like, she would just watch her own parts. And so she had said she got in COVID and was in quarantine and just like watched
Starting point is 00:31:31 Luguna Beach and fully really like for the first time. And that she's just like learning stuff that she was, she said that she didn't even really know that much about Stephen and Chris's relationship and them dating. She was like, you guys really dated. Like really were like in love. That's so nice. Shocking though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:54 You could be on a show and have no idea. what's actually going on. It's so crazy because in reality, it really was Kristen and Stephen that had more of a real thing. But the way they framed the first season with Lauren as the narrator, it was like, no, everyone wants Lauren to get the guy. And like, they had their moments, but like they never really fully were involved, like as much as Kristen and Stephen were. And then Lauren, I mentioned, she's like, I had their boyfriend senior year. Like, they must have been like, what the fuck? I think that. somebody you get tied to the narrator so i think if christian narrated the first season people would
Starting point is 00:32:33 have been rooting for christin to get the guy because you just get like that's why i think lauren being the narrator of the hills is that everyone rooted for lauren all the time because it was her voice from her perspective it's like juliet and c sica key yeah like she's the one narrating so you hear the voice and you're tied to that and so you're rooting for that person always because they're given lines to speak and so they always sound so put together but like she said she said that
Starting point is 00:33:02 she didn't really even speak much she said she was watching the show and realized that she wasn't even really talking that much and that all the lines that she was given was the narrating and that's when she mostly talked and then Kristen said that she did enough talking for everybody which I think is funny I think it's also funny
Starting point is 00:33:18 to see both their personalities still shine through like Lauren is like chill and confident it always seems like put together and Kristen's very bubbly and she's very open about you know I wanted to be on the show so bad I wanted that attention and Stephen just looks exactly the same which is really funny Stephen's great too I just feel like he is a good anchor for everybody where even if Lauren was like I don't know about doing because at first like when they first started the pot the podcast they were like oh we'd love for Lauren to come on I don't know if she'll do it. And he had originally asked her and I think she was hesitant.
Starting point is 00:33:58 But then she had explained like, I had it watch the show. Like, I just felt like I couldn't really give that much insight. But then after she watched it and she also watched their podcast and thought like they were doing a really good job. So she agreed to do it. But I just feel like there is a trust there with Stephen, too, that they've just maintained a friendship through all the years where it's like if one of them were to reach out or text each other about something, like they would answer and talk and they have that kind of relationship where I feel like Lauren is probably like, oh, this is, you know, I trust Stephen. It won't be anything like crazy.
Starting point is 00:34:34 We talked about how Heidi and Spencer and Brody and Audrina, I think they do the Hills podcast or I don't know if it started. It was Audrina. It is Audrina and Brody. I think. I think. And I'm pretty sure I think either Heidi was just a guest or Heidi's like joining as a third chair. I would be, I think Lauren would be less inclined to go on that one.
Starting point is 00:34:57 No, I don't think we'll ever see Lauren on that. No. And I think Kristen and Stephen are very classy about it and they do everything in the right way. So I thought it was very interesting to see. It's a totally different show too. Like it's so much, I don't know, they're high school. Like laguna. Yeah, it's so different like looking back and and that was only two seasons. And it was that one time in their life like in between high school college transition, the hills went on for so much longer. and I feel like even though it was so manufactured, it infiltrated more into their lives
Starting point is 00:35:27 and their livelihoods and everything that came afterwards, that things are like maybe still a little bit more personal. When you think about your early 20s compared to like what was going on in high school, like now you, for me, like I look back in high school, I'm like, ah, water under the bridge, you know, it's high school. But like there's still some shit like college early 20s where I'm like, I had never forgotten about that.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Right. I definitely agree because high school everyone's figuring it out and there's more forgiveness. More leniency. Yeah. You're more like, I was in high school. I was surrounded by all the same people. And then once you reach your 20s, you're like, I don't know. I feel like you should know a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Which makes it, which made the whole rewatch very enjoyable. Right. I think I definitely want to go back and watch. Lauren and Kristen also apologized to both to each other for calling each other sluts. Yeah. It's like mean girls. Like, why are we all calling each other sluts and hoars? I know.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Which was just funny because. It also makes... It's another thing, like, so high school. Right. It just makes you feel better almost about your high school self. And I don't, I can't, I don't think I ever called someone a slut right to their face or I don't even... Or on TV. Or on TV.
Starting point is 00:36:36 But that you think back and you're like... To a friend. Right. You're just like... Probably. Not to their face. Oh, oh, no, no. Behind someone's backs.
Starting point is 00:36:47 One hot. Like, I'm not going to be like, I never said I called someone a slut. Like, I definitely did. but you're like oh I feel a little bit better that they also but they you know you grow up and you're like and Lauren was like I was so embarrassed I said that like you think like some things I look back I'm like so cringe that I thought I was so cool like talking about someone like that or whatever it was so I just love seeing them together and they seem like they're both doing really well
Starting point is 00:37:14 yeah exactly it was just nice to see their dynamic and she Lauren lives with her family in Laguna so it's like kind of full circle now she's like I wanted to raise my kids there and that's very nice she's still grinding doing her she's all her businesses and everything
Starting point is 00:37:33 so I feel like they're both very successful If we won the Powerball we could live in mansions in Laguna Oh I would definitely think about using my beach house money for somewhere on like Newport Laguna Right right Someone on the West Coast
Starting point is 00:37:48 A house on the east and the house on the west Anyways We're back on that again And we shouldn't talk so long about it Because now I just wish I was there We just are planning out all of our dream homes When we hit the lottery Would highly recommend watching that
Starting point is 00:38:01 Because I found it very interesting I did too It was nice and I hope they all like Are able to do stuff More stuff together You know and Kristen was saying It would just be so nice
Starting point is 00:38:11 To get everyone together Or even like not for a podcaster To be filmed or anything Just to like hang out and have fun Right. I feel like Lauren says yes to that. And she's like, yeah, totally. Chris is also like single. Right, exactly.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Yeah. Let's get the band back together. Right. What are you guys doing? This weekend tomorrow where Lauren's like, I have a husband and kids. So that sounds great, but I'll let you know. Yeah, definitely. Maybe their kids will have play dates.

A lot of times, I feel like people sexiest man comes out
Starting point is 00:39:54 or maybe the one time that was Blake Shelton. You know what? I was actually going to, in my mind, create a timer for how long it was going to take for you to bring up Blake Shelton being sexiest man alive. And that old was maybe like six seconds. I know because I just think back to the time where I was like, Blake, are you fucking kidding me? But I know people got upset by that because some people do find Blake Shelton to be very sexy.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Yeah. Personally. He has a, it's, there's something about him. I'm not a. country music star. I watched the voice and he's so, he's very funny and charming on the voice, which makes him sexy. Yeah, I don't see much of Blake Shelton.
Starting point is 00:40:26 No, you don't. I think that's where I miss the sexiness factor there. I feel like I do see a lot of Chris Evans though. Yep. I was the more surprised that he hasn't been sexy as man alive before. What the, what was
Starting point is 00:40:40 the meme that Chris Evans had in his camera phone with him himself? Guard that puts Guard that pussy. Never forget, Chris Evans' camera roll where he had a meme of himself, Captain America, guard that pussy. And he will be guarding all of ours
Starting point is 00:41:00 as people sexiest man alive. Yes, he will. Honestly, it's a great... You should make one of yourself that says for him. Guard that. It makes a lot. It makes a lot of sense. And it was just definitely one
Starting point is 00:41:15 that when it was announced Monday night, it was like, well, duh. Right, like, I kind of scolded right past it because I was like, oh, people sexiest man allowed for seven. Honestly, which I love, because they definitely, some years, it's like, oh, interesting choice. Like Paul Rudd. Like I see it, like, last year was Paul Rudd.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Paul Rudd's very sexy, but, you know, interesting choice. Right, you're like, whoa, they picked Paul Rudd? Yeah. Oh, my God, they picked Paul Rudd. That's one was like Chris Evans. No shit. No shit. He is, he is definitely up there.
Starting point is 00:41:44 It wasn't a surprise to anybody that Chris Evans was picked. The video. knows the pictures, everything are spectacular. What do you expect? I haven't seen much people even talking about it because last year when it was Paul Rudd, people were like, holy shit, Paul Rudd. People's like this man alive. Good for him. Good for Paul Rudd. And then with Chris Evans, they're just like, yeah, yeah, he's used to it.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Yeah. God, he looks really good in the cover too. His hair looks very thick. Blue eyes. He's dirty. He's dirty. Looks like he just rolled in. He just looks like he rolled in some dirt. A rugged Chris Evans. I guess they filmed this like a. on a farm too so he's got like a good picture yeah this is a whole list
Starting point is 00:42:22 of every people wait let's go through them people sexiest man alive because it was Chris Evans we had Paul Rudd last year Michael B. Jordan great one what did you guys think about Michael B. Jordan you saw the video of him introducing Drake and 21 Savage which was clearly like
Starting point is 00:42:37 did you see that? No so you know how they were doing like their whole fake press run where they would do things and it wasn't real like the Howard's search so they did they did a lot of fake so they cut together clips of the Howard Stern show where Howard was asking other people things and then as if he was...
Starting point is 00:42:57 And they were cutting it together as if... But they did for everything. So they did that, they went on like tiny desk, but it was all obviously fake. It was just like a thing. It was kind of cool, honestly. It was cool. People thought it was real for a second.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Really strategic on their part to do that. So they did for... They had the stirred set up. I saw the tiny desk one and I totally thought that was real. And I thought the stirred one was real too. when he said like what's your favorite porn stars or porn and then Drake answer it's it's funny because people thought that they they were on SNL this week when it was really Steve Lacey but they did that for SNL as well and you know how someone always introduces a musical guest
Starting point is 00:43:30 for this fake one they did it's Michael B. Jordan being like uh and here to perform from the most relatable album of all time her loss which is like so clearly that Lori Harvey damn I didn't see that yeah that's a good one yeah I'm fine with that yeah He's upset that he lost her. 2020, people's sexiest man alive. John Legend was 2019. Idriselbo was 18. Blake Shelling, 2017.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Never forgot. The Rock. David Beckham. Chris Hemsworth. Like, I was surprised Chris Evans was never on this already, but... I feel like Chris Evans picked up popularity in recent years. Channing Tatum. No, he definitely has.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Definitely. But even, like, since he's played Captcha in America, it's been, you know, it's been a long time. It's been... Yeah, yeah. Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Johnny Ahoon, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Matt Damon. You really got everybody. George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Jew Law, Johnny Depp again. How did Johnny Depp win so close in time?
Starting point is 00:44:33 Yeah. I don't know. Ben Affleck, Pierce Brosnan. Oh, I love Pierce Brosnan. Brad Pitt. Richard Geer. You know, I'm a Matthew McCleck. I think Matthew McConaughey doesn't get talked about enough.
Starting point is 00:44:49 George Clooney's on here again, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt again. Hmm. Richard Gear and Sydney Crawford in 1993 got named the sexiest couple alive. Interesting. Do you know that they did a movie together after Pretty Woman? Richard Gear and Cindy Crawford? Oh, no, sorry. Julia Roberts.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Julia Roberts. They did another movie after Pretty Woman together. how do we get the name of it it's on Netflix and so I saw the Runaway Bride? Yes so I saw that on Netflix. Runaway Bride is a I've never heard of it. It's a known movie. I've never heard of it and it was years years like almost 10 years later so I never heard of it
Starting point is 00:45:37 okay and so I saw just like a picture and I was like did they I was like is my Netflix in the wrong country because you know how sometimes in different countries certain titles of the movies are named differently I was like is my Netflix in the wrong country that they're naming Pretty Woman Runaway Bride. And then I realized that it was just a totally different movie. Totally different movie.
Starting point is 00:45:57 No, I never saw it, never heard of it. Yep, yep. There's a lot of, then you go into like the 90s and 80s, but Chris Evans, you know, he said his mom is going to be super happy. They always ask him about, like, having a family and settling down and kids. And he's always like, yeah, you know, I want all those things. so I'm sure I feel like that's not the first time we heard that from Chris Evans no I do think he is maybe dating somebody currently I'm not positive on that
Starting point is 00:46:30 they're always asking Dumas who who Chris Evans is dating I think he's very private with his actual dating life well because he was so public with his camera roll yes got to keep something's private he not his private That was a good one That was a good one This is a good choice He could be a repeat Just have him
Starting point is 00:46:55 Two years from now Yeah, we'll be back Just bring it back around If you could predict next year's person now Who do you think? Harry Styles? No, Harry Styles would never do people sexiest man alive It's like they have to agree to do it
Starting point is 00:47:09 You know I don't think Harry would I feel like Timothy Shallomay would Because isn't Is he too young? Do you have to be like older? He's the one that got the advice They normally go with a little bit older.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Did Timothy Chalman? Oh, true. And so I think Timothy Chal, Leonardo DiCaprio would also throw in there and don't be people's sexiest man alive. Yeah. Who else is like? Try and think of like that.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Jack Harlow. An actor right now. No, I think they have to be older, more sophisticated. Yeah. Okay. No, Jack Harlow is, I don't think they've ever gone, like, really young. Yeah. Has there ever been, like, a rapper?
Starting point is 00:47:43 Like, Michael B. Jordan, like, might be the youngest. I, actually, it's. I mean, Brad Pitt, Brad Pitt, like, in the Earl, like, when he was doing it, when he was people's sexy as man alive in, like, the early 90s, he was young. Also, it seems like it's only actors, and no, are there any music people? Blake Shelton. Oh, I mean. But no, like, yeah. Adam Levine.
Starting point is 00:48:04 2013. My guy. Michael B. Jordan's 35, so he's probably on the younger side of, of this list. Wait, was John Mayer ever? it? No. Is that upsetting for you? No, it's cooler. It's cooler to not do it. I mean, there's some obviously very big names on here who have done it, so. Yeah. I could have swore Robert Downey Jr. was on here somewhere. Maybe not. They should do like a really old person next year, like Steve Morden.
Starting point is 00:48:39 What about Steve Karell, Silver Fox? Steve Karell honestly could. You could do it. All right. That's my prediction for next year. If the morning show comes out within the next year. That's actually a good one. That is a good one. That is a good one. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:48:55 I can't, like, think of any. Who haven't done it. Well, I'm just in my head. I'm like, Ryan Reynolds. Chris, all the Chris Pine. Chris Pine's ever done it? I can see him doing it. I don't think they'd pick two Chris's back to back years.
Starting point is 00:49:13 I don't know if they can't. That would be kind of cool if they just like went in order the Chris. Yeah, like they ranked their Chris's and this is their starting with Chris Hemsworth already on here. Yeah. Chris Pratt would never. Chris Pratt, I think, would do it. No, I'm saying he just would never get selected. Oh, no, I think he would. I think he would. I think Chris Pratt would get selected.
Starting point is 00:49:29 I think he would. I think he's out of his prime. No, I think he definitely would. I'm going Steve Carrell. I like that. I like that guess. I like that guess. Thank you. I can't think, why I'm like, why can't I even think? of a guess to throw out there
Starting point is 00:49:50 I'm trying to think of like popular TV shows and movies right now that will be popular next year well I'm trying to think old now because it's like no one young gets oh I could see like like Henry Cavill doing it I feel like he hasn't been like
Starting point is 00:50:11 where has he been? I think they're literally making another Superman Oh. I think. What about Matt Damon? Has he been in it? He's been on there, yeah. You can't do it twice?
Starting point is 00:50:22 No, you can do twice. No, you can. They can have a repeat offender. What about Mark Wahlberg? Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise is on there too. Miles Teller. Miles Teller could.
Starting point is 00:50:36 What about Channing Tatum? I could totally see Miles. He's been on there too. I feel like I might go Miles Teller as my guess. Yeah, he's had a big year. Big year? I think, you know. I think he does love himself
Starting point is 00:50:49 to do people's sexy span alive, you know. Yeah. All right, that's mine. Okay. I'm locked in. You got one now? I'll say Timothy Shannon, just because I can't think of anyone else.
Starting point is 00:51:04 Maybe I'll go young. Maybe I'll switch it up. Yeah, maybe. Maybe you never know. You never know. All right, those are our predictions for 2023. But 2022, we're very happy with our choice. Good choice.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Thank you.
