It's really Christmas and Fourth of July where everyone, you know, gets to take a nice little break. So we're going to do that. I'm going to head to Montauk and Situate. Brands going to the vineyard. We are, though. I feel like people want to know this, and therefore we're going to put it out there. But, Ria, the Friday energy is flowing at an all-time high. Like you said, our office closes for the week of 4th of July and Christmas, and it's primetime, just chill time. You can put your phone down. You can kind of relax a little bit, not totally be worried about what's going on. and hopefully, you know, I feel like we're going to get some good, some good boyfriend time, some good

family time. It's going to be great. I'm very excited. That sounds wonderful, Francesca. What was I going to say? I was going to say something else. But now I can't remember. It doesn't matter. We are recording this actually on Friday for the first time in a long time. We've been recording on Sundays because why not? We used to record on Friday when we were in the office. But we're getting a head start on on vacation. That's not a word. On the podcast and a head start on vacation. My sister was supposed to get married on June 12th.

I remember talking about this whole big wedding, like 300 plus people. That clearly didn't happen. So now she is getting married this weekend by the time you guys listen to this. She will already have been married. Very small gathering. She's getting married in the church. A few people in the backyard. My parents redid our backyard.

I haven't seen it yet. It's probably looking nice. Congrats to them. So it should be a nice weekend. It definitely will be. And like you said, obviously, it's, you know, massive wedding to now very, very small, you know, immediate family.

But it'll be, you guys will have a great time. Like we're saying, it'll have happened already. But it by the time this year will be great unless there's some huge. Right. So congratulations. Congratulations. Congratulations. The wedding.

Yes. Congratulations to Nicole. She is now a wife. Just crazy. And yeah, I just, that's going to be fun. Yeah. Well, we're already past it. But it's always weird recording.

Yeah. It was fun. This is fair for me saying it was a nice time. Congrats to my sister and her husband. Oh my gosh. Husband. That sounds so weird. I know.

Let's move on from the topic. I'm getting creeped out. I'm getting freaked out by this. Go ahead. We wanted to touch on this quickly because we have Erin Lim from E on this episode with us to talk about some topics. And we also have an interview with Scott Eastwood. So we just wanted to mention quickly about Kanye West teaming up with Gap because we don't have much to say, but we do have some stuff to say. Kanye West, if you don't know his past, he worked at Gap when he was younger.

And apparently he's always wanted to team up with Gap. Now Yeezy is doing just that. It's a 10-year deal. Whole big thing. And now people are going to be wearing Gap again. It's really a genius move because he has the connection with Gap. You know, he has said that he wanted to be like the Steve Jobs of the Gap. He worked at the Gap. And they're going to bring elevated essentials, I think, is what it was described at, described as for men, women, and children at an affordable price point to the gap.

So obviously tons and tons of more people will be able to wear Yeezy-inspired clothing because sometimes that Yeezy stuff is super expensive. Always. Not even sometimes. Yeah, not even sometimes. Always super expensive. So it's going to make it way more affordable. And people are going to fly.

to the gap, I think. I know, especially if it's just like, it's going to be cool because I feel like with a lot of yeezy clothes to begin with, they're pretty basic, you know, solid colors. They're very, like, essential clothing, tank top t-shirts. You know, nothing, like, really outrageous. So to have those kind of looks that people love

and think are really trendy and cool, but then you see, like, the $200, price tag and you're like, whoa, that's way too much. Now you can get something similar at the gap. It's genius. They're going to make so much money. Ten-year deal is long. That is a long-ass deal.

Basically just rebranding Gap as a whole. If you have a 10-year deal with Yeezy, the gap is just becoming easy but affordable. Like you said, hopefully people will be able to afford it because they cannot be putting up 300, $100 plus items at the gap. They just can't be doing that. They would have to be so oblivious to everything if they did that,

which I don't think they are as much as people think that they are. I think they're somewhat aware. So hopefully we'll be getting like $20 tank tops, whatever it may be at the gap. Fuck it. I'll shop. I'll shop at the gap. Yeah. I'll check it out.

Why not? I'm not against anything. Definitely not. I mean, sometimes I've gotten things from the Gap in recent years. Just be, like, the Gap has always done. I can't say I have, but maybe so. It's super fair. Like, there's a stigma with the Gap, but.

The Gap has very good basic stuff. Like, if you're just looking for, like, a knock-around, white tank top. Knock-around? I've never, you know. What's a knock-around? Like, you just, you knock around in it, you know? knock around okay like it's just you know it's your everyday thing you're you're doing activities in it you're running to the store you're running errands you're cleaning you're you know it's just every every

you're every day you're every day white tank you're not gonna every day your everyday white tank you could probably get the gap this is already to turn into an ad for the gap so which it's not so which is not which is not we fucking love macy's okay not the gap we do love we do love macy's and we we but we will, you know, sneak a peek at this collaboration once it, once it starts. Yes, absolutely. I think it's time to get into today's episode. It's a shorter one than usual, like we said, you know, this week is a little bit of a break. But like I mentioned in the last podcast, we're going to be back better than ever.

We won't have an episode on Thursday or Monday, July 6th, but on, now I'm counting the days, Tuesday would be the 7th, Wednesday would be the 8th, Thursday, July 9th. That's not happening. Get that out of your head if that's in your head. That's not happening. There will be a surprise, though. I promise you, I'm going to figure one out because I said it. I can't take it back now. Okay. And I want everyone to know that when we come back from this break, we're going to be better than ever. Better than ever. Feeling refreshed with a surprise on Thursday, July 9th. Ready to take on the second half of the year. Yes, absolutely. We are absolutely ready to take on the second half of 2020. First half, you know, hasn't been the best, but we've made it work and we're going to continue to make it good. Can I just say, before we get into, you know, with Aaron and we also have Scott Eastwood on this podcast,

people should just continue to wear a mask. That's all I'm going to say. This, it's, it's, we've reached the point where, like, wearing a mask has become political, and it's like people are really fighting. Like, I watched this video, and it was a parody video, but it was very funny of Palm Beach County in Florida of, like, a town hall meeting, and they cut it up so that it looked like it was in Pawnee, like it was a Parks and Rec. And it was, it was very funny, but like the people in the meeting were very real. And they, it's like, it's like being asked to wear a mask is, is like giving up your firstborn child. Like, just, just wear a mask. It's not hard. It's literally a piece of cloth over your face, just wear it. I saw a tweet that was hilarious

and it said, the only hard thing about wearing a mask is not being able to get into your face ID on your iPhone. And that is fast. That is the only problem. That's the only struggle I have with the mask is that when I'm looking at my phone. I got to type in the passcode. It's not recognizing my face. That's about it, guys. There's two masks out there that you can match with your outfit to make it a little more fun if you want to. It's kind of an accessory at this point that you need to own and you need to wear. Right. Just rock it because it is going to help you and everybody around you. Right. The coronavirus is not gone. Guys, it's not. Certainly not. It's actually back and better than ever. Not that it ever left, but yeah. It's here. And everyone still has to look out.

Even though it's the summer and people want to have fun, you cannot forget that there's a worldwide pandemic going on. Correct. But people want to forget because it's summer and then once the fall comes, things are going to be bad and people are going to be like, oh, well, you know, it's getting cold. I can stay inside. Yeah. Let's be safe out there. Just wear a mask.

People going into this week. And to have, you know, have fun safely. Exactly. Because we don't want to be fun. No, just be responsible. Like, it's literally just wearing a mask. It's not, nothing more intense than that. So that's it.

So we just want to know how you got involved with E in the first place. Well, let me tell you. I have been manifesting this since I was a youngen. I've always wanted to be in television. I've always wanted to study broadcast journalism. And after college, I decided to move to Singapore to start my career. I was randomly doing a documentary there. My senior year fell in love with the region.

I had never been to Asia, but I am half Asian. So I was like, oh my gosh, like, I connect with this place. I talked to a bunch of people who are asking me, what do you want to do when you grow up? And I was like, I want to be on television. I want to be a host. And everyone told me in Singapore, you should move here. You would be a perfect host out here.

You're American educated. You have all the skills. You are half Asian. So you would relate to the region. I was like, okay, maybe I'll like see my options. I literally sent every single agency, every single producer, director, friends of friends, anyone I had met email saying, this is going to be a long shot. But, and then the body of the email had my.

entire like real portfolio headshots everything reasons why I wanted to move to Singapore um and everyone was like oh this is great but like let's let's meet and by that time I was already back in California I was like let's do a Skype and everyone's like nope so I after I graduated I took like a business meeting to Singapore met with everyone everyone said okay well we could totally see ourselves working with you when do you move here and I was like well, don't you have to give me the job before I move here? And they're like, it doesn't really work that way. So I moved to Singapore with $500 and six luggagees, hope, faith, and a prayer.

And I landed my first show two weeks into being there. I started in a sitcom. I hosted a dating show, a travel show, a tech show, kids show. Like, it was just a snowball effect of shows. And before I even moved there, I said to myself, I want to someday work for E. Asia. Like I would watch EAsia. I saw the host and I felt like that was such a good fit for me. So in the middle of me working in Singapore on all these other shows, a random producer from EAsia hits me up. Randomly cold email says, this sounds kind of creepy, but I saw you in a newspaper.

You're promoting another show. I looked you up. I saw that you have American broadcasting experience. we're looking for a new host reporter. Do you want to come in for a casting? I was like, yes, I somehow manifested that. And then I go in, I eventually get it. I worked in Singapore for two years, and then I randomly went home for a wedding, and I emailed the E international team based in L.A.

And I said, hey, I'm in town. Is there any way I can go to the studio, maybe meet Juliana, Jason, whoever's there. And I'm like, yeah, come to the studio. in LA. Actually, why don't we shoot this EAsia special direct from Hollywood? We'll film you and your experience here. Like, perfect. So as I'm in the studio shooting this special, I'm meeting Jason and Kat and Terrence and everyone was in there. And I guess like when I was in that studio, there was a feed that the casting directors could like tap into and they just saw me in the

studio interacting. And they said, who is that girl? And then they found out who I was, sent me an email and said, hey, we know you're based in Singapore. Is there any way that you're interested in moving to California? We're looking for a new host reporter based in Hollywood. And I was like, yes, I moved 9,000 miles away to eventually land my dream job in Hollywood, like in Los Angeles, my hometown, working for the company that I've always wanted to work for. So yeah, it was like a really crazy God thing, I call it. And just like, I mean, just the timing for every. single thing that happened leading to that point. It was just like the earth and the mountains and the ocean was just moved to be perfect timing. So that's my journey. And I've been there for five years.

I've done 500, over 500 episodes of the rundown. Yeah, it's crazy. I just looked at a photo of my first day at E, my first day on American television. And it was a trip because I'm just like, wow, that girl did not know what would happen in just five years. That is. That is. truly amazing manifestation is real um it does i'm telling you like you have to write down your goals and you have to say them out loud even if they scare you i love it we we like joke around about manifestation but i know that it's like i know somebody's listening to me right we joke about it but also are really serious about it because that's why we're saying it in the first place we're like oh we're going to manifest having so-and-so on the show so like they'll totally

be on the show one day and we say kind of kidding but then we're like no please please yeah and like you I always say you have to take yourself seriously and no one's going to believe in you like you believe in you like if you don't see it in yourself no one else is going to be able to see it in yourself ever since I was in college I treated myself like a professional and carried myself that way like I had business cards I had an aaronlimm.com like I would go to events and get myself in the room and when people ask what I do I wasn't like, oh, I'm a junior, I'm a senior in college. I was like, oh, I'm a, I'm a host and a reporter, and here's my work and here's my business card, and you call me if you need me. And it kind of just worked out that way. Absolutely. And this is obviously, I feel like such a hard question. But in your five years of working at E now, what is like the first highlight that comes to your mind, like the greatest thing that's happened? Oh my gosh. There's so many amazing things that have happened.

Why? People ask me this all the time and I have like the worst memory where I have to have my producers tell me like this was the greatest moment of your life. Don't you remember you freaking out? Yeah. Budge, what is it? You know, man, first freak out moment or the standout moment. I don't know, you know, I grew up watching wrestling with my brother like WWE and when I met the rock for the first time was probably the most awesome thing. tweeted him first and I was like, oh my god, I'm going to meet the rock, like my favorite actor and like everything and I'm going to bust into that room saying, do you smell what the rock is

cooking? He tweeted me back and was like, Aaron, if you don't say that and if you don't bring me a gift, like game off. And I'm like, wait, what? Or he's like game over. And I'm like, uh, you just tweeted me back. I thought it was maybe his publicist or something. I walk into the room to interview him and he's like, Aaron, hey, did you bring my gift? I'm like, you. You, were actually the person who actually tweeted me. So that was just a fun little moment that has happened. Yeah. That's unreal.

Did you get him a gift or did you show up empty-handed? Are we allowed to say bad words? Yes. I fucking showed up empty-handed thinking he wouldn't even know what I was talking about because I was just sure that it wasn't him tweeting me back. Like it had to have been someone else. But yeah, I'm next time going to have a gift because, he does not forget you. Once you have one conversation with you, I've interviewed him like three times,

so I really should have had a given him a gift by now. But like every single time, he just, he doesn't forget you. Like the most professional, sweetest guy, like he is no BS. And I'm, I just, I love him. Oh, that made me really want to meet the Rock. I'm not going to lie. It is. Please meet the Rock Manifest. Yeah. But also, what do you even get a guy like the Rock? He has everything. Seriously. He literally has everything. You know what? I'm going to get him. I'm going to get him a fanny pack, because I don't know if you didn't remember that famous photo of the rock with a fanny pack.

I'm going to get him a sanny pack in like a really dope pancake mix because I know that his cheat days he loves pancakes. So that's what I'm going to get him. That's extremely thoughtful. There you go. Extremely thoughtful. And I'm sure he would absolutely love that. I love hearing stories about celebrities that, you know, are so beloved and everybody,

you know, people love the rock. and then when you actually hear firsthand encounters with him, and they're like, no, he's really that great. You're like, thank God. You're just like, yes. That makes me happy. Yeah, there are good people out there, you guys. Yeah, yeah.

There, you know, sometimes because there is the, you know, never meet your heroes saying, and sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not, but, yeah, sometimes we'll be asked to interview somebody, and I'm like, but I don't want to ruin them for me. Like, I don't know how to work that, but like guys that have been on like, you know, teen drama shows that I loved when I was younger. And then I'm like, you know, I want to interview them, but also I like to pretend that I don't know them as well. Right, exactly.

Yeah, I know. Yeah, and sometimes you got to start with like a weird icebreaker too, you know, like, so what's your favorite beer? Oh, okay, let's get into the questions now. Yeah. So you try to build rapport like this or else the thing, the interview is going, woo. Absolutely.

And that's why it makes sometimes now, obviously, we're doing so much through Zoom. It's like you've got to have a good pre-interview, like interaction before starting the interview because it's not like you're not in the same room. So it's just, it's tough. to get a full read. Too. Yeah, exactly. Like, it was just, we have,

we interviewed Scott Eastwood, who's actually going to be on this episode as well for, on Monday. And he was like, he was like in a restaurant in Texas. Like people were walking around behind him, and we were like, what's your deal?

It was, it was very funny. But it's like, okay, all right, you're just going to, you're going to do all your interviews in the restaurant. Cool. Yeah, I've had some funny interactions.

Like, I interviewed Cuevo a couple weeks ago, and it started off with him and his car. It was like, your Wi-Fi is the worst. And then he, like, ran into his mansion. And then he had all his friends in the background. I'm like, I cannot hear you. I was like, and your internet's bringing out. Like, are you close to the router? Can you go to the router?

You got to, like, move three times, tell all of his friends to shut up. Like, aren't you from home is definitely come with some challenges. Right. We're all making it through. making it work. Are we? Are we though? I see you guys. You guys are killing it. So I know you guys are working at work over there. We are. Thank you. Well, we wanted to talk about some topics with you because obviously you love pop culture as much as we do. You know, it's it's hard in the summer. We're looking for some good gossip and it sounds evil in some way that we're just like, oh, we want,

you know, dramatic things to happen with celebrities, but we do. It's like, we, we literally thrive off of it. And I'm sorry that that is your life, celebrities, but that's what we do for a living. Exactly. Exactly. That's what we're here for. What you got? Yeah, three of good.

Yeah, let's start off with Caitlin Jenner playing golf with the Weber family minus Barb, which is shocking to me because I feel like she, you know, will do anything for an opportunity at fame. but she did post it she did post a photo of them she bragged about it commented yeah now what are our thoughts about that why is kately katelyn jenner hanging out with the weber family well i think that katelyn is literally going to play golf with anyone who wants to play golf with her um because i don't know if she's getting enough golf

with her family right now but also the weber family they are on about their 16th minute of fame. Therefore, they are going to hold on to anything that gets them a headline or gets them, I don't know, some type of traction because Lord knows we wanted to be done talking with them after that finale. I mean, just the worst season of Bachelor in Bachelor history. So, yeah, I feel like it was just a perfect storm. And also they kind of live in the same area. I know that the Weber family is probably in like maybe Gore Hills-ish area.

Like what I'm talking about in California. Yeah. In Los Angeles, the northern Los Angeles region. Caitlin is usually in Malibu. And I have seen Caitlin at one of the golf courses in the area that they golf or that they live in, the Weber's. You know, we just all golf together. So I feel like it was something super random where like they probably just ran into each other. And then they're like, hey, you're Caitlin.

No, you're golfing by yourself. join us. And then she was just like, okay, yeah, let's do it. And then, you know, they of course had to document it because it didn't happen unless you got that selfie. It's so true. I also just feel like the Weber's have like sneaky celebrity connections just from living in that area. Like I remember when Peter, I think it was just when Peter was announced the Bachelor. First of all, how do you feel about The Bachelor? Do you watch? Do you love it? Do you hate it? okay I hate it but I watch it

and yeah my best friend like my best friend she robs me in every time and I always I swear it off every year I'm like I'm not watching it this year I'm not watching it this year and then she bamboozles me and she's like hey I'm going to come over and I'm going to make you some dinner and

oh by the way it just happens to be Monday and it's bachelor so like let's watch it I'm like oh my god so then I end up watching it and I've hated like the last three seasons like he I hated them. They've been bad. I probably hated the last freaking 10 years, but I don't know why I watched them. And also like my gripe with it has always been like, like, we need diversity. Why is there not a Bachelorette that looks like me? Why is there not a bachelor that is literally any person of color? Like, please. And so now that they finally did that, I'm literally going to have to watch this season. I have to. Like it actually is what I've been wanting. So like, fine, but also like, uh-huh. Definitely. Right. And at this point, it's like, we almost want to skip Claire's season because everyone's so excited about Matt James being the bathroom. We have to. Like, is there a petition to cancel Claire season? Sorry, Claire. Like, do not know you. I think you're probably lovely. But I just, let's just get to the, let's get to what we really want. Right. Wouldn't it be crazy? Give the people what they want. Wouldn't it be crazy if they did aired both at the same time? like, you know, because they're not doing Monday nights, but it was like Tuesday night is Claire and then Wednesday night is Matt.

Oh, that would be. That would be interesting. Hard to keep up with, but perfect for content. It would be great, but that it. People will just tune out on Monday. Yeah, yeah. That's so four hours. That would be a lot.

But it's, um, I haven't very excited for Matt. But like, so when Peter was the bachelor or would, had just been announced as a bachelor, Victoria Justice had posted on Instagram, like a picture of the two of them and was like so excited for Peter. Like our families have been friends forever. Like my mom and his mom are super, we grew up together.

Like so excited for Peter. And ever since then, I'm like, the webers have some weird connections. And Bell Thorne. Right. And Bell Thorne's mom is like also friends with the webers. Well, okay, listen. Barb literally is probably camping out at people's local. grocery stores and like trying to spark up conversation and then they become family friends. So, you know, I don't know what Barb is what her life is really about, but I feel like she's really good at manifesting things. But yeah, when you live in the L.A. region, you just kind of, you see celebrities all the time. You interact with them often. And then, yeah, if you have a mom like Barb, she probably sees them one time and they become friends. So I'm not surprised. But yeah,

I was excited for Peter. first because I liked him on Hannah's season and I was like oh he's a really good guy like this would be an amazing guy to date like I could see any of my friends dating him he's awesome like why didn't she pick him and then when he came back became bachelor I was like okay whatever like me sure I'm excited these was a great guy on the Hannah season and then the first episode I was like this is going to be Ben Higgins season but worse but worse it's going to be even more boring and it was and then we had the mom who really sparked up the drama so I don't know yeah I think it was just a mixture of being the absolute worst season but kind of I don't want to say the best but there's something what something was fun about the finale like maybe no is yeah if we could skip the entire season and just watch the finale like that that's my spark notes on peter Weber's season do not watch any of the episodes aside from the finale.

Watch the finale and that's it. Exactly. That's really all you needed to see. Staying on kind of the Jenner train, Brody Jenner, who we see out and about with plenty of young ladies. Blonde's. He now is dating Brianna Jungworth, who is Louis Tomlinson's baby mama, and Brody took her out to dinner with a bunch of friends

this past week and Caitlin Carter was there. You know, the rumors were that Brody wanted Breonna to meet Caitlin because Brody and Caitlin are still super close and they co-parent their dogs, so, you know, they interact together. And it's just an interesting dynamic. First of all, the co-parenting your dogs couldn't be a more celebrity thing.

Like, you break up, one person gets the dog. normally what happens in real life. That's exactly what happens in real life. And it's usually the person who went and picked them up at the adoption center. That's the person who keeps the dog. Yep. Yeah. I don't understand Brody Jenner and Kaelan Carter. I've been trying to figure them out for a while now. I always feel like, you know, I think that they were like, I don't know how to were this, but I think that they like to mix in other people in their relationship from time to time. Like, I think they were, you know, really into threesomes, maybe four sums. I think they've talked about this before, to be honest. So when I saw Brody Jenner introducing Brianna to Caitlin Carter,

I'm like, is this a dinner to set up something? What kind of introduction is this? You know what's interesting? I thought the same exact thing. And I also thought that about Miley too. Like, was Miley, were they all in the relationship? And yeah, I mean, I love a modern family. I love exes that can mingle and co-parent and could do the Gwyneth Poutro, Chris Martin thing. I can't do it, so I don't really understand it fully. But, like, I respect it.

And I think that if you can remain amicable and friendly, and that's probably just good for everyone's spirit. So cool, fun. But also, like, if I was the new girlfriend, I don't want to meet your ex that you're friendly with. So that's weird. But yeah, I mean, if she was down to meet Caitlin, maybe there is some type of agreement going on behind closed doors. We don't know. I do not know. I do not have verified sourcing at all. These are all assumptions we are making. Oh, always. Yep. Always.

So, allegedly. Interesting. I couldn't do it on either end. Like, I don't want to be your ex meeting your new girlfriend and I don't want to be your new girlfriend meeting your ex. Especially when you don't have kids together. Like, I understand when you have an ex because you have kids in the picture and they're trying to get along. I think it's, I think it has, started as kind of a quarantine situation. Yeah. But it's a weird dynamic all around because, you know, obviously she is a mother and that was such a huge thing. If you watch the hills, it was, yeah, it's, it has not been long. And yeah, my rule is three months before anyone gets to meet the significant other. Whether that's friends, family, exes, I guess. Yeah. You got to make it past the three-month threshold.

One month, it's not that serious yet. You probably haven't even gotten in a fight. You don't know who each other are. Like, nah. That's very true. I mean, we have talked about Brody being spotted with like three other girls

during quarantine during this time. So like this could be the same as all of those, all of those other situations. It's very, it's, that's just the way he is. I do love Brody. He's super fun. I've hung out with him.

before in Australia, we were like at some, the Melbourne Cup, Melbourne Cup, which was like this horse racing event. And we, you know, got shit-faced and had a great time. Not, like, not anything in the Berber, but like, he's really fun, cool guy, easygoing. I could see why many women gravitate towards him. So, oh, absolutely. He's funny fun. Yeah. Yes. He's very charming. I mean, he's, he, um, we had the cast of the hills on, you know, right before the new show had started. and he had come in with a bunch of, you know, with Bishop Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee and a few others in our office in New York. And everyone was just still like looking at him like, wow, you know, that guy, he's, he really, he's still got it. You know, all the guys were like, damn, Brody Jenner's here.

We're like, yeah. Yeah. Yep. Brody Jenner. Never. He definitely doesn't age. No, he definitely leaves that impression on everyone. Yeah.

Scott, we're really thankful that you took the time to come talk to us. Your new movie, the Outpost, excuse me, the Outpost, the Outpost, looks incredible. And it's coming out July 3rd, right around the 4th of July.

Can you tell us about the movie, how you got involved with the project? Sure, yeah. The movie is an incredible true story about the Battle of Cam Dash in the Afghanistan War in 2009. It's, you know, it's really, when you dig into it, I mean, 37 men received Purple Hearts for that day. Two men received the Congressional Medal of Honor, one of which I play. And it's just a story about everyday people put in extraordinary circumstances and the heroism that came out of that. I got involved. Our director, Rod Lorry, had wanted me to play the lead.

And I was unfamiliar with the story. and once I took some time to dig into it and fully understand it, I thought it was a really interesting piece and a story that needed to be told. And can you explain your specific role in the film? Sure, I play Staff Sergeant Clint Romichet. He was, like I said, he was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Wow. Which is incredible.

Go ahead. Did you have to do any sort of specific training for this movie? Because I know there's, you know, it's a lot going on. Yeah, yeah, a lot going on. You know, I, luckily, I had been in a few other military films. And so I've done some basic training. I've gone through that process a few times. And funny enough, that you ask that, I broke my ankle five and a half weeks before we

start shooting. So I was supposed to land in Bulgaria a few weeks before, do a basic training. But because I had broke my ankle, it was a little bit of a different circumstance this time, where I was really just trying to get healthy enough to walk and make it to the movie to shoot the movie. How did you break your ankle? Oh, that's a long story. another time. You know, I feel like this podcast is the first, perfect place to tell it, but I don't know if you're ready.

I don't know if you're ready. You know, um, there's a little butterfly over there. Yeah. You guys are really missing out, by the way. Texas is nice. You're in New York, right? Yeah, New York.

You're trying to, you're trying to escape by. You're not going to tell us a story. I'm going to assume it was a wild night. We're proud of you, whatever it was. probably a fun time, hopefully, or I'll say they're going to confirm or deny. Amazing. You, are you in a restaurant? I am.

That's amazing. Okay. I'm like, because I feel like I'm seeing, you know, people coming back and forth. Yeah. Yeah. That's amazing. Yeah, what a great place to work. The movie, you also, I'm curious because I, when people play real people who are obviously

still, you know, living people. Do you reach out to them? Do you get to speak to them? Do you get to hear the story from them personally? Sure. Yeah, no, you definitely do. This was an interesting, this is also sort of a different scenario. Normally, you would, you know, if they're alive, you would want to meet them and spend every waking second with them, right? In this case, Mont Romichet had a competing project at the time. So he was gracious enough to speak with me on the phone, but I wasn't able to meet him. And I haven't met him. I'm hoping to meet him one day. And yeah, so, you know, I was able to, luckily there's a lot of literature on him. He wrote his own book. And so I was able to read that, digest that, and through speaking to him.

That was all I got. Yeah. Yeah. And hopefully once everything lets up with Corona, you'll be able to meet him in person because this film is coming out on video on demand because everything that's going on, which I actually love. We've been talking to a lot of actors and actresses where their movies are coming out on demand, but everyone's home. We watch so much TV and movies that I actually love the fact that I don't have to go anywhere that I could just be on the couch and order it. Yeah. I mean, it's going to be a different deal for a while, but we do come out in theaters as well. So if you want to go to theaters, there are theaters that will be open. And, you know, you can go see this in theaters too.

And I'm sure they do their social distancing procedures and all that stuff. But you can see it at home and theaters. Very true. And some drive-ins, I think, right? Yeah. That's coming back. Yeah. What, so this movie was supposed to premiere at South by Southwest, correct?

This is true. Yeah. It was, it was crazy. I flew all the way back from, I was in Indonesia on a travel trip, and then I was in Australia, and I flew all the way back. And the day I got back, I got the call that South by Southwest was canceled. And I hadn't really been even paying attention to coronavirus. I've been traveling all over the world.

And I got a call and I said, what do you need to be canceled? I just landed in Texas for South by Southwest. What are you talking? And they can't see. Oh, yeah. It's, it's, I know, it's heartbreaking and obviously sad because you want, that's such a huge platform, you want everybody to watch a movie, but thankfully, you know, it is, did get picked up, so that's amazing.

Because I feel like that's. It was an honor, I think, for it to get accepted into South by Southwest. I think, you know, they, you know, it had, it had the merit. to do that. So it was great. It was a good honor for that time. Yeah, definitely. So I want to know a little bit about your history of kind of becoming an actor because you went by your, a different name at the beginning of your career than you changed to full Scott Eastwood. What, you know, because I feel like, obviously, it's a very recognizable name. What made you, you know, make the switch or not use it in the first place?

Well, I always tell people, I'm kind of like a walk-on player, you know, I was never the best, but I was able to figure it out and sort of stumble through it and get picked up as a player and be able to do it and I'm super grateful that I have. But I think in the beginning, I was just, you know, I was young, I was trying to stumble through it and I was seeing if I even wanted to do it

and seeing if I could do it, you know. And I just, I was trying to fly under the radar. Yeah. You know, and see if I liked it. You know, I said, okay, I could do this. Don't think I'm the best at it, but I think I could do it. And so I'll make it go out of it.

And you're doing it. Yeah. You're doing it. That's why you're here. And I want to know if your dad's super famous, does that bother you when people bring it up all the time? Or do you like talking about it? Because you never know every single time you talk to somebody who has a famous parent. It's either they hate talking about it, they want to like remove themselves, or they really enjoy talking about it.

No, I definitely wouldn't say I hate talking about it. Yeah. My dad's like one of my biggest heroes. Yeah, of course. He's the reason I'm in this business. He's, you know, he's the reason I'm here because I was so inspired by him and so inspired by his films, watching his films growing up and seeing, you know, the storytelling and what was possible and how it affected me when I watched those films.

I mean, just awe-inspiring and when he turned 90 this year. So he's still doing. He's still out making movies. He inspires me every day to keep going. Yeah, it's incredible. He's one of those guys that I, you see him still out here making movies, doing things. And then you forget and you see someone say like Clint Eastwood 90 and you're like,

that is incredible. Just has not, I feel like he hasn't slowed down at all, which is so impressive. Definitely some good, some good genes. and I'm curious as to what I'm sure he's given you tons of words of wisdom and whatnot but what what's some of like the best advice that that your dad has given you

shut up and listen yeah people are really really quick to to speak and to to talk about something that they may not know about you know we're all sort of stumbling through life, right? And we are all, you know, taking in knowledge and learning more every day than what we knew before. And sometimes, you know, what theories we thought we knew are disproved down the road. And it's a perfect example of this whole thing we're going through this pandemic, right? people are so quick to to talk and make statements about it. And I think that's probably a product of just because of our entertainment and these phones that are, you know, right here,

everybody feels the need to have to voice their opinion. But, you know, I mean, I think, you know, just to sit back and sort of intake a bunch of knowledge and learn. Yeah. Well, I'm going to take that advice via Scott Eastwood, via Clint Eastwood. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. To me. Definitely. Scott, one of our favorite things that you have done is the longest ride.

We have, we, I'm a big Nicholas Sparks junkie. I've read all of his stuff. I love that book. I love the movie. We've had Britt on our show, and she was fantastic. We love talking to her. and she was Yeah, she was

quick to she seems very sarcastic so right away she was kind of like oh you know Scott it's working with Scott it's just it was so hard

She is a little shit That's yeah I love it She is like a bubbly fire factor Yeah she's awesome And we were laughing about that before we came on. We were like, we still, you know, she was joking, but it still seemed maybe a little serious.

Like we still can't tell. It was just trying to figure her out a little bit. Yeah, no, I mean, I have nothing to. I think we had a great relationship, a great relationship. We would constantly be giving each other's shit, which was fun. And she's one who can dish it and can take it. So, yeah, I had a great time. Yeah.

That was, obviously, like, we've seen you do a bunch of action stuff, and, you know, obviously in the new movie that you're going to be in now is a war movie and Pacific Rim, like, something like that is very intense. Yeah. But the longest ride was very romantic. Did you like doing movies like that? Would you rather do the action, or do you like the romance? No, I love them, actually.

and we've been trying to figure out another one. We actually, I actually am figuring another one. I've got a film that I love this script. I've been trying to get it made. It's a passion project of mine. I've been trying to get it made for a number of years now. And I think it's going to happen this year. I'm pretty excited about it.

I got Nick Cassavetes. He's, you know, him. He's going to direct the notebook. So, you know, he's going to direct it. Entourage. Yeah, no, it's a cool. It's, it's, it's, it's a little bit more in that, in that notebook vein. And I'm excited to, to go back to a genre like that, something that makes you,

that takes its time and really develops, you know, some, some different sort of storytelling. That's really exciting. And we would absolutely love to see that movie, I can tell already, just the way you you're describing it, romance, we love that type of stuff. I mean, just saying the notebook is really all it takes when it comes to the two of us. I'm already hearing up. I don't even know the story and I'm crying already. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. What would you say is like your dream role if you can mock it up?

It's a tough summation, I think, to try to put it into one thing. I think there's a multitude of different roles I want to play. I'd love to tackle some comedy. I think that I can do that. I'd love to go back to what I was talking about. Yeah. Play some interesting characters. Play some flawed characters, I think.

I think humans were just flawed in general and being able to find roles that are, like, very underneath. They're very flawed and have their vices and have their screw-ups, you know. I think those are really interesting to examine. Yeah. I'm sure comedy is, comedy is very interesting because you, once you crack it, then you're in. But it's just like that initial crack. I feel like when you see people who don't do comedies start to do comedy, you're like, can they be funny? I don't even know. But when, they prove, once it's proven, then like, you're deemed a funny guy forever.

Yeah. Yeah. That would be very exciting. Scott, you're also in a pretty elite group. I don't know if you're aware, but only few men have gotten to be the leading man in a Taylor Swift music video. And you are one of them. I know.

we're going into the archives a little bit, but these are some of like our, you know, our favorite things. And obviously, anytime you get to work with Taylor Swift, I feel like that's incredible. And a music video is so different from a movie. Like, how were you excited to do a music video? Would you ever do more music videos? Yes, if it's the right thing. Yeah. And I have one, actually, that we should.

shot that I can't quite tell you about yet, but it is pretty interesting, one of my favorite artists. It's got to be right artists, right, creative, you know, the Taylor Swift thing that you bring up was, you know, really interesting that she pitched me this really intriguing concept, and I think that's what I, that's why I was so excited about it, because she wanted to shoot this sort of homage to this old 50s style of filmmaking like out of Africa and these old Henry Ford movies and what it must have been like to be on set in Africa and maybe fall in love with your co-star and you just have this it was very stylized in a way that I was I was intrigued to tell that story and I thought it would be I thought it would look

really cool and be kind of a blast from the past. So I was excited to do it. And that's why I did that video. Yeah, definitely. Right. As far as storytelling goes, she is a master at making her music videos a full story, which is why they're so great,

and which is why that one was so great. So, yeah, that's fantastic. Look, Scott, we're really excited to see the outposts. I know that, you know, these war movies are very intense. Like my dad and I, he is a war movie buff, so we watch them all together. I'm very excited to watch us. He texted me that he sent me the, you know, the info on this and was like, this is the next movie we have to watch.

Like, yeah, he loves all these stories. He read the book. So, I mean, obviously, is really looking forward to seeing it. What? I'm trying to think of the... Go ahead, go ahead. I'm glad that you're excited to see it. I think women will like this film as well

because it really unearths the emotional side of being at war and having to speak to your loved ones at home. There's a theme in the film, I don't want to give it away, but talk too much about it, but it really, it examines what that, that's like having to be away at war and speak to your wife, your parents, your, your, your, your loved ones, you know, and what that psychologically is like going through that, you know, it really examines that. I think that that's one of the more interesting parts of the film. Yeah.
