Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners. You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Rianne, giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday. Different episode this Wednesday. Usually we have The Bachelor Recap with Trent.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Trent just skeddled on out of here. Trent's not here. We thought he was going to be on this episode with us. We thought we were going to do a little fun thing with him. No, he's nowhere to be found. He actually said he was going to. No, he did, but he's, they're on a trip. He's on a trip.
Starting point is 00:00:44 They're doing, right? Fourpoint. They're doing something for work. Which is important. But he's not here, so we don't have him. Yeah, he maybe could have shot us a text. Yeah, he doesn't care about us that much, which we know. I know we didn't.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It wasn't set in stone. I will say that he was going to be, that he was still going to come on. But we floated the idea. Yeah, we did a couple times. Anyways, this podcast. Anyways, it's just the two of us. Yeah, it's just the two of us. And this podcast is presented by.
Starting point is 00:01:10 dat chat. Make sure you go to datchat.com slash barstool. Find out more info. Download it like we always say every episode we are. I go on dat chat every day. I'm checking those groups out. I'm looking at the chicks in the office group, seeing what you guys are saying about the episodes, seeing what you guys are saying about us. Very supportive in there. I did see a lot of convos about like, let's, cutting stems being like, let's talk about another show tonight, like just so we can all talk to each other.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Yeah, I like that. Group mentality over there. Exactly. So make sure you download datchat. Also the private messaging feature. No screenshoting. No screen recording. So get your thoughts out there.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Few housekeeping rules. Not housekeeping updates. Yeah. No rules. We not have any rules. Housekeeping items. Number one, if you are in L.A. or going to be in L.A. for the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Super Bowl week, we are doing a live show February 10th, which is a Thursday, 8 p.m. L.A. time. Yes. And the tickets are now on sale, which we forgot to mention on Monday's episode. Link will be in the description. Link will be in the description. Link will be in the description. If you're going to be going, bring your friends, send other people.
Starting point is 00:02:12 We want to see your faces there. Also, the VIP, very important to note. There's a lot of cool things that come with the VIP that is different than the original live shows that we did. So make sure you check that out. Get your tickets. We want to see you guys there. Second thing. Can I add to the first thing?
Starting point is 00:02:29 Yes. If you are nervous about going to a show potentially by yourself, like I saw people being like, I live in L.A., but I don't have anybody to go with. go by yourself. I want people, I want girls to go. I want you, if you're there by yourself, look around. Hopefully there'll be other people or other girls. Introduce yourselves.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Make friends. Mingle. Let's talk. Sign up for the meet and greet. Let's all meet each other and make friends. And if you do buy a ticket alone, DM us, because we do go through our DM sometimes. And hopefully we'll see that and be sure to say hi to you guys in some way, shape, or form. There were many people that came alone during our live shows in the fall.
Starting point is 00:03:07 And we were honored that people would do that. So if you want to come alone, do that. Don't think it's weird. There are other people. Also, join DatChat because you can talk to other people on there that could be going alone, make friends through that, through chicks in the office, which we love to see. So very important note there, Francesca. Number two, the first Harry Potter pod, Chicks in Hogwarts, will be coming out next week.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yes. We have recorded the first episode. Yes. And it's a good one. I think we were all very pleased after it ended. we all looked at each other and said that was great. Yes, I'm very happy about it. Noah has given us
Starting point is 00:03:43 a unbelievably vigorous watching and recording schedule. Yeah, he's got me watching two films a week. They will be all out on time starting on January 28th. Yes. Thursdays. Thursdays, there'll be one movie a week starting January 28th.
Starting point is 00:03:58 There will be a couple skips. Yeah. The Super Bowl show and then a week in March. will be a skip so we'll be I'm pretty sure it'll go first two movies and then a break
Starting point is 00:04:15 one week off and then write one two break three four five six break seven eight January 27th February 3rd 17th 24th there's a week off after that wait is it the 27th it's the 27th
Starting point is 00:04:30 oh the 27 yes that we're off no no 27th that the oh yes January 27th is the first day's 27th. Why was I saying 28? I don't know. And then March 3rd, March 10th, March 24th. So it's a week off between that.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And then March 31st is the final. Okay. Yeah. So those will be all the weeks. We will have episodes Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and the additional Harry Potter Convo. Also very cool merch. Yeah, we do have cool merch coming.
Starting point is 00:04:57 There should be fun stuff. Yeah. Fun stuff. Dedicated to the houses. So very excited for that. So yeah, you're going to be hearing from us four times a week now. Far too much. Yeah. I'm getting sick of my own voice.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Yes. Look, we, of course, we don't have The Bachelor today. So this is normally how we spend the episodes. There are, once again, it just kind of feels like everything that is happening are things we have been talking about every single day. You guys need a break. We need a break. Jamie Lynn Spears has every single headline on page six, like every other article is about Jamie Lynn Spears. and rightfully so I mean she has her Call her Daddy interview
Starting point is 00:05:38 that is out which everyone is talking about and we will talk about it but we're going to talk about on Friday because part one is out we can only listen to part one that way we can listen to part one
Starting point is 00:05:48 and part two talk about all of it on on Friday yes because it's Jamie Lynn every day it is but we're getting because if we talk about it today
Starting point is 00:06:02 she is certainly selling books I'd rather talk about both interviews in one hour. Right. Because if we talk about it today, then we're going to talk about it again on Friday. Correct. And then that's just too much Jamie Lynn, even though we're talking about her right now. Yeah. So we're going to talk about both parts of the Collar Daddy interview on Friday. We're talking about Jamie Lynn right now to say that we're going to talk about Jamie Lynn on. Just so much going on in the Spears world right now. But yeah, usually we have the Bachelor Recap and we don't have that. So in place of the Bachelor recap, we're going to do a little summer house recap because the first episode.
Starting point is 00:06:33 episode premiered Monday night. And then, of course, we still have something Bachelor-centric involved here. Of course. We got Jesse Palmer, the host of the show on as well. Great interview with him. So we're going to get into that. I wanted to make a clarification because Gia pointed this out to me and I was embarrassed. What? When we were talking about Hunter Schaefer and Dominic Fike, I was like, there's not really any couples that have like come out of euphoria. I talked about it on group chat and Gia was like, well, no, Zendaya and Jacob Bollordi.
Starting point is 00:07:10 And then why didn't you stop me? I got to be honest, that was in my head. But I was in, I was in one of those moods where I was like, you know, Zendaya and Jacob, they kind of faded so fast. Unbelievable, some friend you are. You made me look like an idiot and just let it go. Yeah, I mean, I really don't know defending that. I completely forgot because I once again, it was a blippin time.
Starting point is 00:07:30 That's also just bad on me as a host to not be like, here's the correct information. I was, yeah, major, because I was thinking, and I guess, I think I have warped my brain
Starting point is 00:07:41 so much in favor of Zendaya and Tom Holland. I erased that completely from my memory. Like, Zendaya and Jacob, I erased completely from my memory. I'm like, that didn't happen.
Starting point is 00:07:51 A girl's a M. yesterday, I almost fucking lost it because I have to go back now because I may be wrong. Like, hand up, I may be wrong. But you know when I was talking about
Starting point is 00:08:00 the song playing in the car with Nate and Cassie and I was like wasn't actually playing whatever Yeah A girl DMI was like The song was actually playing dummy She literally wrote that
Starting point is 00:08:11 I wrote you could see Noah's time Was it like Because it was like the iPad was playing Or I mean She was like you could see Nate play the song And I don't know I'm gonna have to like pull up the episode
Starting point is 00:08:21 Because I don't recall that It could have happened It could have not happened I don't know All I know is was He did play the song Dummy is what I saw I'm gonna say that for everything
Starting point is 00:08:31 thing I say to you now. I know. And I really was like, I should, I know. I probably have some of my messages that I just see in the look of like, was they and Jacob dated dummy? And I was just like, all right. Fuck you. You're going to call me a, I still appreciate you, whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:44 A couple of big dumb dumps. Call me, call me dummy in my DMs. I was like, oh my gosh, people are getting real harsh. Yeah. But to be fair, my tone was very aggressive talking about that. So if I was wrong, then yeah, rightfully so. I deserve to be called the dummy. I would have, I, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Okay. I wish you had told me about. and Jacob, I'm really not. I'm sorry. You know, I was in pain yesterday. And on top of that, how about this? You know when I told people, don't, don't diagnose me. Don't diagnose me.
Starting point is 00:09:13 The amount of DMs yesterday I had, people telling me I had kidney stones. And I wanted to be clear, I don't have kidney stones. I don't. As far as you know. I would know, like, multiple people in my family have had kidney stones. Yes. I would know if I had kidney stones. The pain, I wasn't really describing it correctly.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Yes. podcast. The pain this morning you said you thought it was because you did too many pushups this weekend. So the pain that I'm having, we're all over the place. It's more like a pulled muscle pain, like a soreness rather than like a sharp pain. I tapped, I've had, by the way, I've also had my kidneys infected before. So I also know what that feels like. So I want those people to be clear that I don't think I got kidney stones and I don't think my kidneys are infected. Is something else going on? Possibly. I feel better today. It feels like I pulled a muscle in my lower abdomen. That's how I describe it. But I wasn't working out. But then I recalled I was doing pushups
Starting point is 00:10:03 on Saturday night. And maybe that's where it's stemmed from. I have no idea. All I know is I told people not to diagnose me. And I almost set myself to the hospital last night with the amount of DMs I got about myself. So once again, don't diagnose me. Please don't do it. I'm going to stop talking about my problems on the podcast so people don't tell me what they think I have. People are telling me I got parasites. I have a parasite now. That's probably one of my biggest feelings. years. Having a parasite. Just like something alive in you. Oh, oh, I watched.
Starting point is 00:10:34 No. I watched the last week's episode of Chicago Fire. And, you know, me. I always watch my Wednesday nights or I watch it on Hulu after. But they had an ambulance call where they showed up and a guy, the neighbor, he was like freaking out. He's like, make it stop. Make it stop. I'm hearing things like.
Starting point is 00:10:58 like running around he'd have a shirt on like freaking out and they were like oh is he having some type of episode is this happened before and he ended up having like a bug like a pretty decent size bug in his ear like crawling around it and he couldn't and he couldn't get it out and like it was causing him to like freak the fuck out that was one of my biggest it was terrified he had to go with tweezers and take it out growing up that was one of my biggest fears getting an earworm in my ear. I always felt I still feel like that sometimes sleeping. Like when I go
Starting point is 00:11:32 to bed, I'm like, I really hope like when I'm sleep like, you know, you sleep with your mouth. Sleep with your mouth open. Don't you eat a certain amount of spiders? Yeah, I think you do. Like it just happens. This sort of a gross turn. Anyway, I just saw this on Twitter I want to discuss since it is a little Harry Potter oriented.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Daniel Radcliffe is going to play Weird Al Yankovich in a new bio. Oh my God. That's kind of awesome. They're making a biopold. pick about him. Radcliffe 32 will star in Weird, the Al Yankovich story, a Roku original movie from Funny or Die, and Tango
Starting point is 00:12:04 that will stream exclusively on the Rogu channel. And he Weird Al will be writing the script along with someone else from Funny or Die. And Daniel Radcliffe is going to play him.
Starting point is 00:12:20 That's pretty awesome. Wow. Quite an interesting choice. That's hilarious quote. He said, Weird Al said, I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for. That is quite funny. And also just exciting for Daniel Rodcliffe. Get something new in there. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Yeah. Yeah. That is. Even though we're back to talking about Harry Potter. Yeah, exactly. Even though we're back to it. You can't live it down. Back to doing Harry Potter.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Okay. All right. Well, that's, we can talk about summer. Hey, you guys doing this wordle thing? No idea what it is. And I keep seeing people tweeting about it. No? I know I sound like a downer.
Starting point is 00:12:59 I just want nothing to do with it. Okay, it's fun. But what is it? I kind of like it. It's a word game. It's so every day it regenerates. You get six, it's six rows, five boxes. And you have to enter a five-letter word.
Starting point is 00:13:14 You start at the top. And so like say you put in a patch. It's your five is your first guess. And there is an A. and there is a C in the word. So like if they're in the right spot, the letter will show up green. If they're a letter that is in the word
Starting point is 00:13:34 but it's in the wrong spot, it'll be like a yellow color. And you have six tries to rearrange to come up with the final word. And do you win anything? No, it's just like if you can get it in six tries. Is it the same for everyone or different? It's the same word for everyone every day.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Because I'm only saying it's literally streaming on on Twitter right now because there was a X in the word today and that pissed people off. I see everyone was like
Starting point is 00:14:04 no one's guessing an X. I see everyone talking about it every day and people tweet their results now. It's going to be one of those things that I'm not going to hop in on because it's going to die like HQ. You know well for sure. Remember when everyone was in on HQ
Starting point is 00:14:17 and then that died. I saw him taking the same flight as me once and I was like, yep. Because HQ died down. I know what happened there. Anyways, let's get into the Summer House recap. Yeah, let's do that. But before we do that, you know how much we love reality TV.
Starting point is 00:14:31 You know how much we love E, Bravo, all those networks. And we see Universal. We see you. Just in general, you know that we're watching it all. And they got a new show coming to E in January. It's called Relatively Famous Ranch Rules. They took eight kids who have celebrity parents, their Shaq's kid, Billy Bob Thornton's son, Pat Benatar's daughter, and a bunch of them.
Starting point is 00:14:53 of others. They're all going on this ranch. They're dropping them for the summer and they're supposed to quote unquote save the ranch. Obviously, a bunch of crazy shit happens. There's romance. There's a rich kid drama. Who doesn't love rich kid drama? Because you know that we're not rich kids. We don't know what that drama's like. So we like watching it on TV. So make sure you tune in to relatively famous ranch rules this January only on E. Summer House is back on Monday nights, which is going to be a problem going forward besides last night. will be the only time we'll really be able to watch live that yes and i feel like it's hard to do it's hard to recap bachelor and because you if you don't have time to watch monday or tuesday it's you know
Starting point is 00:15:37 it's tough but i was very excited about being able to at least watch the premiere i what i did watch it this morning because i was watching football but still to be able to talk about it today i was hyped I got out of the shower at 857. I looked at my phone. Yep. Saw a tweet about Summerhouse and I was like, holy fuck. I forgot it's coming on in three minutes. I got dressed so fast.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Went downstairs to my living room TV. Watched it on the big screen. I was pumped up. The trailer for the season looks amazing, by the way. I am so invested in Paige and Craig's relationship. Craig, what a man. Okay. I just, I'm so...
Starting point is 00:16:12 What a man, what a man. I'm so invested in their relationship, but I'm also invested in Summerhouse in general. So this first episode, I thought it popped off right away. It wasn't usually with Summer House. The first episode is like setting up for the rest of the summer, right? They arrived to the house. They're getting ready.
Starting point is 00:16:31 This one popped off immediately. A few major bombshells. One, we'll talk about first. Lindsay and Carl got after it a little bit at dinner, right? Because they were talking about her dating life. She was dating a new guy from the winter. And then she snapped on Carl a little bit at dinner. and she revealed to him a major bombshell
Starting point is 00:16:49 that she found out that she was pregnant and then the next day suffered a miscarriage and I felt so incredibly bad for her and Danielle was saying throughout the episode like you know Lindsay has been going through some stuff she'll talk about it but you know she's not acting like this for no reason like there's a reason there's something else going on her life
Starting point is 00:17:07 and why Lindsay's acting this way and then she talked to Carl about it and then I think it was obviously they're not dating yet in this point but it's so great to hear now Carl and Lindsay be happy together because you could tell how much they respect each other's friendship and just in that moment alone Lindsay telling Carl and Carl being like why would you why wouldn't you tell me yeah and Lindsay saying you know you were dealing with a lot I don't want to put that on you they just respect each other so much and have this great friendship that it makes sense
Starting point is 00:17:32 why they're together now yeah they both really know how to navigate each other that makes sense Yes. Where even when that argument happened, Carl was like, I know how Lindsay works. Like, I'm not going to make this a big deal tonight. We're not going to talk about it. Make it any worse. Like when she wants to discuss it, we'll discuss it and leave it at that. But yes, for Lindsay to reveal that it was shocking.
Starting point is 00:18:07 We didn't, you know, that was not public knowledge. Did not know that that is something that happened. and it takes a lot of strength to share those kinds of moments on this show. And also, we just know how much she has talked about wanting a family and having kids and having that life. You know, even everyone joked with the timeline with the boyfriend last season of like, okay, this is the day we met. And then this is the day that we're going to get engaged. And then this is the month that we're going to get married.
Starting point is 00:18:34 And this is the month we're going to have kids, like to kind of be planning that out. so you know she said if this is something that had happened you know she she would have had that baby and something like it's just it was it was emotional did not expect that part the first episode and it is nice that Lindsay and Carl really do have that relationship to confide in each other in those moments and then to be able to like build themselves up to like romantic level is is really nice and Kyle and Carl were on watch happens live after the show as well and he's just like he's gushing about Lindsay like it just seemed like they're really happy right now yeah which is nice but it is going to be interesting to watch the whole rest of this
Starting point is 00:19:24 season because they're not together like that's they've talked about this like they're pretty much single the whole time they're filming because what happens between them really doesn't happen. Would they say like took on a new life like at Amanda and Kyle's wedding? And that's definitely not going to be until, you know, all the way at the end. Yeah, I'm sure that would be like a finale episode of some sort. But yeah, we saw a lot in the first episode. Obviously there's a lot going on with Kyle and Amanda.
Starting point is 00:19:52 We know that they got married. Kyle was on the episode last week or this Monday. And I got to say it's bad. I got it's funny because I have a lot more. I'm like Kyle you want to come on back Yeah like I got some more to ask you Really not great basically They all went out they went to dinner
Starting point is 00:20:13 They went out a little bit Amanda goes back everyone goes back Kyle does not go back Yeah that's the number one Red flag to me in which obviously There are times where you go out Your significant other wants to stay out longer than you You go home
Starting point is 00:20:27 That's fine that happens It's just the first night right In my head I'd be like This is the first night we're all together Let's all do everything together. Yeah, of course. And also, like, if you have the fear of my boyfriend, fiancé, gets so drunk that he could cheat on me and not even remember is very intense, very emotional. Like, no wonder Amanda broke all of shit in the bathroom.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Like, she was pissed off. And it's not like an unwarranted fear. It's something that's happened. Right. So, you know, she's like, this is like my biggest fear for her to say to Sierra and Paige, who I think we're also equally as blown away, that they have it written on a piece of paper, like an actual document, signed document, that if Kyle were to fuck up in some way, like with his drinking or cheating, something like that.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And the wedding was to be called off. he would owe Amanda's parents every penny that they have paid for for that wedding. Like the fact that the fact that you even have to put that in writing is very worrisome. And it's not even like on Amanda. It's more like at what point
Starting point is 00:21:47 do you say to yourself the drinking is becoming a problem. Maybe I need to cut back on the drinking. Maybe I need to, I don't know. It's just everyone's going to have an opinion obviously and that's where we're coming from just watching it. And this is exactly what we talked to Kyle about, right? We were like, look, people are going to watch you guys fight and like have some strong opinions about it. Like, how do you guys deal with that? And, you know, they say they can
Starting point is 00:22:12 separate their life from the show and things like that. So that's great. But watching that first episode, you definitely have a different feeling. Yeah. We've seen them fight before, but this is different knowing that they're getting married, right? When you see a couple fight, it's on a gauge, whatever, obviously bad. But knowing there's a potential wedding coming down the pipe, line. Right. And this is how he's behaving is like. And the morning after I did not like how he was talking about her. I didn't like that at all. I was very turned off. I was like, I would be so pissed if I was her and I would probably leave. I would be like, I'm done with you. The next day, well, you know, you never know in that situation because you're dating for so long. But the next day to not even be
Starting point is 00:22:50 like, I am so sorry, it was just kind of gross to see. And I felt very bad for Amanda. And you could tell how frustrated she is because you could tell how much they love each other. But the drinking just gets so out of hand and it's just oh my god it's it's he's got to he's got to cut back a little bit he's got to cool it a little bit and and if you've got to get to the point where you're writing down that written contract yeah yeah how do you not realize then okay I have a written contract about the way I drink yeah why don't I just take a little step back and clearly it's things that they have discussed in therapy like Amanda was like we've talked about this like you know they have there is therapy involved at this point and he dissed her about yeah she's the one who wants
Starting point is 00:23:27 the therapist it's like well because she's trying to save your relationship. Yeah. It's clearly falling apart at this very moment. And, you know, Amanda is clearly questioning everything. And it's the first night. I think, without a doubt, she was right. You got, go back with them.
Starting point is 00:23:42 It's the first. What are you doing alone there, right? Having a bunch of people take pictures with you and, oh, my God, it's Kyle from Summer House. That's not anything compared to being with your fiancé back in the house with all your friends. If I had to guess, I think there's a lot of anxiety from Kyle going to this summer of, like, the marriage is, you know, the wedding is planned.
Starting point is 00:23:59 and it's happening and we're doing this. He has, you know, of course he's been with Amanda for a while, but we've watched that relationship unfold as like kind of, you know, serial dater. Like now he's, you know, he's with Amanda and he's in a serious relationship. And now they're getting married. I just feel like there's probably a lot of pan. And that panics the wrong word.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Just like it's a major life moment where if your coping mechanism is, alcohol things, you know, can get a little messy. And on top of that, like, I said this to you, like in a text after watch. Like, if it's crazy to me that, like, I still kind of give them credit because I just can't imagine having my drunk relationship fights put on television. Like, there are times when you are yelling at each other over the stupidest things or things that like seem so serious in the moment. You're like, I'm gonna leave you.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Like you're the worst. Like the whole thing. And then you wake up in the morning and you're like, I don't really know why I said all those things. Like I don't feel that way at all. So I didn't feel like that happens. Often you, because you know, the start off right away with a drunk Kyle and Amanda fight
Starting point is 00:25:19 and putting his stuff outside and having this whole big thing probably doesn't set the time. tone for the rest of the summer. I think for Paige and Sierra, like being so close to Amanda, for them, like, they're going to be like, what do we say something? Like, there's a contract involved here. Like, what's happening? Like, how do you, because as a friend that's really hard, too, to watch your, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:45 best friend's fiancee to, like, you're like, is this a self-sabotage? Like, what's happening? Right. You don't know when you should step in or if you should step in. but that was kind of the main thing for the whole episode I do like the addition of Maya who is patient and is really cool
Starting point is 00:26:01 she seems cool she seems like she's open to being into the group she's like cracking jokes she's down to hang she seems like she has a great personality so I feel like she's a great addition and I don't know about about meathead Alex yeah I don't know how well Alex is fitting in
Starting point is 00:26:16 Andrea very funny I love Andrea I love Andrea's like this is the first summer I can go back to my family yeah he's like Andrea. Yeah, he's cute. You can tell he really likes Paige. Page. Page enjoys being single for right now. I, now, like, I knew some of this, I guess, but I didn't realize how much potential crossover there was with Andrea and Craig. Not crossover, but like, I know she was dating and seeing people like actually should, but I didn't know, like, I was under the impression that when they came back from Winterhouse, that they hung out a little. And then, then it was like, oh, this isn't going to work. Like, we're not into this. And it was like a mutual thing. And then she like started when was dating other people.
Starting point is 00:26:59 I didn't realize that like Andrea wanted, wanted them to stop dating other people and for them to kind of maybe be like a more serious thing. And she wasn't ready for that. So it'll be, it'll be fun to watch that play out. And she has said like she did an interview as well. I think it was with page six that I saw today. That she was just like the connection with Craig was just. undeniable and she loves Andrea like he's a great guy he's so sweet like it's just the actual
Starting point is 00:27:28 chemistry like relationship chemistry felt stronger with Craig I love them I really do and I'm going to need them to come in here as a couple at the end of this season because I could just feel it like I know we haven't seen them together on the show actually we've just seen the trailer yeah and it might be the first time and I I tune in and tune out of Southern charm like I've watched it I haven't watched it. I've watched it. I normally always just like catch the ends of seasons. Like I'll watch the last couple episodes
Starting point is 00:28:00 in the reunion because those are always the most fun. And so now like I think, you know, Paige has been filming some Southern Charm stuff. So I'm like, shit, I'm going to have to watch the whole Southern Charm season. You know, you see in that preview like at the Summer House, they're talking about the Kristen Cavalieri stuff. Like it's
Starting point is 00:28:20 It's going to be a good season for sure. There's going to be a lot that goes down, clearly, right off the bat. All right, we got a great interview with Jesse Palmer, the host of The Bachelor coming up. But first, I know you guys, like I am constantly cleaning out my closet. Constantly, I'm going through it. I'm trying to find the clothes that I don't wear or I do wear. You know, I have one part of my closet that's just like a little bit hard to reach.
Starting point is 00:28:49 I don't wear as much of those clothes. I'm like, what am I doing? You've got to organize and clean out. Thread Up makes it so easy for me. It's an online consignment and thrift store. They make it so simple to buy clothes, sell clothes. Did you guys know that by choosing one used garment instead of new, you can save 77 gallons of water? Starting point is 00:29:15 Threat Up is working to do the planet good and give life to like new clothing. I'm telling you I thread up is great because I am on both sides of it I am buying clothes from threadup I'm also like selling clothes on thread up and I know that I the clothes some of the clothes I sell are things that I've never even worn before I've worn one time they're really really nice and so you know that if you're on the other side of that buying you're getting really high quality great products on thread up you're nodding at me you're like yeah you should buy I'm going to buy your stuff you're going to buy myself I just call my stuff yeah you're like nodding it at you like so intense.

All right, everyone, we are here with a special guest. We have the newest host of The Bachelor, Jesse Palmer, joining us. Thanks for joining us, Jesse. Guys, of course.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Thanks for having me on. How are we doing? We are doing great. How are you doing? You know, we're a couple weeks into the season now. People are watching. People are getting to know you in this role. How has it been going for you?
Starting point is 00:31:14 It's been great. It is way less pressure hosting this show. than actually being the bachelor. You don't have to deal with any of the drama. You don't have to navigate all the relationships. So I've been having a blast. Getting to know Clayton's been terrific. He's a real sweet and genuine guy,
Starting point is 00:31:31 I think deserving of his opportunity to find love. So I think being able to lean on some of the advice and some of the experiences I had back when I was the bachelor to try to help him achieve what he wants and finding his person has really been the best part of this for me. You know what? I mean, I'm sure you're getting this. often, but we had Clayton on recently. You guys really do look alike. I know. It's like I'm not
Starting point is 00:31:56 happy about it because he's like my younger, taller, more athletic, better looking brother. I was like, when they cast them, I was like, he's serious. It's unbelievable. And then it's like, you know, it's like I wear a lot of hair product anyway. And now just to try to get like on his level, I'm like doubling up on the hair product from 6 to like 6 to like 6 with the hair. I'm asking for Applebox is out in front of the mansion now. It's ridiculous. He's really good at making me feel irrelevant. And you're quite sick of it, it seems.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Yeah, I'm kind of over, Clayton. Like we're like two episodes in. I'm sort of over it. A little girl asked me if I was his dad. Oh, no. Yeah. We were at the Rose Parade and this little girl, this really sweet little girl took a picture with us.
Starting point is 00:32:42 And she kept looking up at him. And she was like, looking at me. And she was like, are you his dad? I was like, I was like, I'm a conduit of love. Yeah. What is this? What am I? Yeah. What is my role here?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yeah. What am I doing? Makes sense. What I'm doing here? Exactly. Yeah, pretty much. So this is obviously a bit, you know, you're stepping into a new role as the host. When you were debating taking this spot, was there any hesitation?
Starting point is 00:33:14 Did you want to come back into this world? because it did seem like, you know, you were on the show, it was, what, 2004, 2005, a long time ago, where you had career-wise separated yourself from this franchise. So what made you say, like, all right, I'm going to go back? Yeah, well, it's funny. Since I did the show, I've kind of always been part of Bachelor Nation, too. Like everybody else, I've been watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and Bachelor Nation. And I even hosted the proposal a couple of years ago, which of course is sort of part of that Bachelor family.
Starting point is 00:33:49 So I've kind of always still felt connected to it. And so as a big fan of the show, I knew I would love to someday come back and be a part of it in some way, shape, or form. So yeah, I was just really excited. It wasn't necessarily something that I was anticipating. But when the opportunity presented itself, I knew I definitely wanted to jump on it and be a part of it. And how did the opportunity present itself? There was a, there's a phone and someone used it and called me and asked if I'd be available. I checked a calendar and I was.
Starting point is 00:34:23 So I was like, sure, can you fly me there? And that's kind of how it, that's sort of not simple. So how that happened. Were you surprised by that phone call? Yes, I was surprised by that phone call, in fact. I was. But also, you know, very humbled and honored. you know, again, being a fan of the show,
Starting point is 00:34:44 I know there's been, there have been a lot of changes taking place on the show as well, surrounding representation, inclusion, and diversity, which I think are really, really important. And I can only speak to sort of my experience having hosted this season, but I know that those are conversations that are happening and are going to continue to have.
Starting point is 00:35:04 We have a really, as you guys know, we have a really, really passionate fan base that are very outspoken, and I think they helped the show lead to meaningful change. And so, you know, I'm sort of, you know, I'm proud to kind of be hosting a show like that that has such a big fan base that's passionate. That's also, with the show that I think is heading in a great direction. Really, really proud of our amazing, diverse cast of women on Clayton's season this year. So yes, it's been, it's been really great. You joked with the women in the first episode,
Starting point is 00:35:35 you know, it's their first time at the mansion. It's your first time at the mansion, despite being on the show, You know, you didn't shoot there. What was it like walking into that space? I was pissed because the budget's gone way up since mine. Of course. I mean, I'm watching Susie. Yeah, like, Susie's, she's like riding a helicopter and landing it onto a yacht, like Russian oligarch style.
Starting point is 00:35:58 And then getting out, like popping champagne in the hot tub. I'm like, dude, I wrote a donkey. It's not even close. No, honestly, it was super nostalgic. It was crazy. You know, it's funny, like, when you do things, especially things, you know, quite a long time ago, you always think you remember everything.
Starting point is 00:36:15 When I got to the mansion, I had this, like, tidal wave of, like, memories and emotions come back. Like, kind of standing off to the side and watching the limos pull up and the women were getting out. And Clayton was there, and I was thinking, oh, my God, I got nervous just like I was when I was standing there years ago. And then at the Rose ceremony, it was the same thing. I'm getting PTSD because I'm like, don't forget their names.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Don't do it. Of course, I did that in season five. I was going to say it's one of the, that clips recycles online. Every year it feels like when the show comes back, they're like, hey, everyone, remember when not Jesse Palmer set the wrong name? You can't blame you for that, though. There's too many women. So many women.
Starting point is 00:36:57 People like just won't. It's like, I keep thinking, like, it's like a bad record in sports you want. Like the guy that threw the most interceptions in a game is dying for someone to break that record. I just need someone to forget someone's name again, but it never happens. Right. And you're right. Thank you, by the way. Because I totally tried to like, I tried to go coast to coast and get all the, like, I didn't take breaks.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Like today, the bachelor will go out, say a few names, excuse himself, walk off set, come back in, collect himself, get the names go back. I tried to go like 16 for 16. And after a couple of vodka sodas, that never really, that doesn't go great at like 6.30 in the morning. Yeah. So yes, yes, I did. I do think. That was one of my first pieces of advice for him, by the way. Just don't forget.
Starting point is 00:37:37 I do think people forget how long you guys are filming though, right? Like you just said a couple of vacas sodas at 6.30 in the morning, it's a long night without sleep, right? It's got to be like, you know, I haven't been on that many TV shows, but it's got to be like one of the longest nights of TV ever. Because that that cocktail party or the limos, I want to say they start to arrive at like, like basically when it gets dark. So like seven o'clock. And then, I mean, you see it on TV. Like when the women are leaving the house after the first row ceremony, there's like, there's like legit sunlight outside.
Starting point is 00:38:11 It's like 8.30 in the morning. It's just like a, it's a banger. It's like it's an all-nighter. It just goes. When do you sleep after that? I feel like I've never actually asked that question. So when do you get to sleep after that? Well, that's actually interesting because that because I still have to go back to the house the next
Starting point is 00:38:29 morning when they all move into the house. And then I drop the first day card. That's like hours after that. So it's like you can kind of go. I go back to the hotel, I sleep for like two hours, but you just get right back up and go back. And you're just like running on adrenaline and fumes. You know, I may or may not have missed the table like 20 times the card.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Got the card right here. Clippers off. Like, damn it, get the card. So it's just, it's a long, long day for sure. You feel like a zombie. You obviously have the football background. and I think what is fun about Bachelor Nation and the way this show has changed
Starting point is 00:39:08 is how people really do view it as a sport sometimes. You know, you get the Bachelor of Fantasy leagues and they do drafts and they pick the girls or the guys. How do you think these two things kind of intersect because now, you know, you've got your toes in both things? Yeah, it's so interesting. It's really, it's amazing how much people's, I guess, concept or feeling of the show has changed since I did it.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Like when I did it in 2004, like reality TV was kind of a new thing. And the show was new. The show was sort of figuring itself out. I remember playing on the Giants and having to like explain to everybody in the locker room what I was doing. Like first off,
Starting point is 00:39:50 explain the whole reality thing. They're like, no, but like, how do you memorize the script? Like, what do you? I'm like,
Starting point is 00:39:54 no, no, it's reality TV. There's just people with cameras. They follow you around. And they're like, great, what are you doing the show? And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:40:00 well, you're trying to, you know, you're looking for love and you're going to hopefully get engaged on the end. They're like, dude, you put a quarterback on the Giants. Like, what are you, why are you going on? That's embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Why are you going on that show? Today in like 2022, like people, like people get high fives for going on the show. Like everyone's like congratulating people. People are excited for you. Oh my God, it's a huge opportunity that Clayton gets to do this. It's amazing. And, you know, it's just there's been like a total 180. It's such a big part of pop culture now.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And you're right. There's Bachelor Nation. And there's like, fantasy leagues and like draft pools and watch parties. And I think too, it's amazing that like guys, like guys in general have gotten better over the last two decades at like opening up and sort of, you know, having feelings and doing it on air. And it's amazing.
Starting point is 00:40:48 And you notice how every year two, there's like football players all the time. There always ends up being a football player somewhere on a bachelorette. Yeah, always. It's like we've gone from like being these guys that are like internalize everything. Never admit weakness. Figure it out. Like, you know, play next play. And it's, it's now, it's like, there's more and more football players that are comfortable just being like, dude, I want to, I want to find love.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I'll do it on TV and I'll go on group dates. There's some guy in the Giants right now being like, God, one day, one day I'll be on The Bachelor. Yeah, exactly. It's totally flit now. It's cyclical, though. You can't, now it's got to be like a Minnesota like, yeah, yeah. You've got to, like, cycle. Yes.
Starting point is 00:41:27 And you can't have two from the same division. Yeah. Yeah. be a whole set of those friends. Absolutely. That is very funny. Clayton on that first night just seemed so excited and so happy to be there. Did you get those feelings from him as well?
Starting point is 00:41:44 And did he, were you worried that maybe he didn't know what he was getting himself into? Yeah, great question. So I love Clayton. The thing I think I like the most about him is that he really is a genuine, sweet, humble guy, and he's so hopeful. Like, Clayton, I don't know if I've ever met a guy that wants to get married as bad as Clayton and have kids. I think people who saw him on Michelle season, like, you remember when he was crying, talking about it? Like, Clayton's a big, tough macho man guy. But he wears his heart in his sleeve.
Starting point is 00:42:19 And when he talks about that, you really see and you feel just how bad he wants it. because of that, he puts a lot of pressure on himself. Like that first night, I remember. So what was kind of cool, too, is I never met Clayton before he got out of the limo. I really wanted that to be like a real authentic moment. And so, you know, I'd heard about him and read about him. But getting to know him, we just clicked so much more than what I could have anticipated. His face, I remember watching him when the women were coming out of the limo, he was like,
Starting point is 00:42:54 like he would look over and be like and I was like hell yeah there's like three more limos coming or don't go in like never he actually went inside yeah yeah I just want you guys all to know
Starting point is 00:43:06 you're amazing I'm loving this I gotta go back and he like bailed again it's like dude relax there's more limos this thing it's not
Starting point is 00:43:14 we're in like the first quarter this thing is like we're just getting going but having said that you know Clayton's also you have to remember he's never watched the show before he did Michelle's season
Starting point is 00:43:24 which is part of it's It's part of Clayton's greatness is that there really are no rules to be broken because he doesn't know the rules. There are no rules in The Bachelor. And he's going to kind of do what he wants along the way to find his person. But, you know, having been there myself, it's all kind of funny. Like the beginning is always the best because everything's possible and it's, it's optimism. But then as you're seeing now, there's like self-doubt.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Like that's a real part of this. It starts to creep in. all the drama going on with Cassidy, having a friend with benefits back home. You know, he has a pretty strong connection with Cassidy. Right now he's already given a rose at the group date. How is that going to impact his decision? Is he actually going to take this rose back in the next episode? What I can say is, like, having self-doubt in life and dating, but on this show,
Starting point is 00:44:13 it's not like throwing an interception in a football game where you're like, forget about that play. Yeah, yeah. Short-term memory, move on, next play. If you get self-doubt on that show that early, you wear that. for the rest of the entire season because now you look at every other woman and you're like, is she really into me?
Starting point is 00:44:35 Is she want to be here from me? Because you have to remember too with Clayton, the women didn't know who he was before they got out of the limo, which is very different from past seasons, right? His season with Michelle, that didn't air until after we'd already started to film him. So he's not like Ben Higgins
Starting point is 00:44:52 who's just like, dude, these women are going to love me. I know it. Yeah. He's sitting there and he's like, do they think I'm handsome? Am I enough? Am I going to be enough? I'm from a small town. I've never really been to L.A.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Like, you know, imagine all those things going on in his head. Like, he's had to juggle. He had three women go home before the first row ceremony, essentially self-eliminate. Right. So he's had like already a bunch of firsts that have never happened. He potentially has another one coming up in the next episode. And I promise you there are so many more. coming down the road.
Starting point is 00:45:27 Things that people in 20 years of watching the show have never seen. Like he's got a lot of stuff happening right now. And for a guy that he's just trying to figure it out. And, you know, the challenge for me is to try to help him along the way, no matter where this thing goes, just to try to help keep him on course and help him find what he's looking for. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:45:51 And it's a weird concept, like you said, sitting there having the self-doubt. You don't know, one, you're talking about whether or not they like him, and we saw, I'm blanking on her name, but she was like, oh, hate him. So not the vibe. Yeah, Claire. And you have to deal with that. And then on top of that, it's like, can you trust these people?
Starting point is 00:46:08 And I think that's now what we're seeing with Cassidy, like, what is going to be her answer? And can he even trust that going forward? Totally. And especially with someone that they had, like, again, they, I mean, Cassidy's pretty bold. She's not lacking confidence. That's pretty obvious, right? And so she's done a really good job, I think, early on.
Starting point is 00:46:29 She seems to kind of have a strategy, and she's going for it. She's finding her time with them. And she's the type of woman that she tells Clayton how she feels. She also shows Clayton how she feels. So for him, you know, early on, he's developed a couple of connections, but you've got to think that that's got to be one of the strongest one he feels
Starting point is 00:46:50 up at this point. And then for this early in the game, for Sierra to come to him and go, hey, friends with benefit back home, just heads up. Yeah. I mean, he's right away like, well, that's not supposed to happen this early. And now I'm telling you, having been there before,
Starting point is 00:47:08 it's hard to not let that get in your head when you're thinking about where you stand with a lot of these other women. The cliffhanger we saw, you know, was great because it kind of ends on your face being like, I don't know like this. He says, you know, has anyone taken a rose back before? And, you know, you kind of had this, like, shocked look on your face. What was going through your mind when he asked you that question?
Starting point is 00:47:35 Yeah. So, you know, it was interesting for me was I was not sure how he was going to tackle the situation. I knew what was happening with Cassidy in the house, and I'd known what Sierra told Clayton. You know, part of me in that moment, I think, felt like there's probably a lot of people. lot of guys that would just sort of let this bleed into next week. And they'll just wait until they get a group date or a one-on-one, and they'll address it then. And to Clayton's credit, he decided that he wanted to take action now. And when he came, it was him.
Starting point is 00:48:06 One of the things that he came to find me and be like, hey, has anybody ever done this before? You know, my reaction wasn't so much, I don't know, because Rose's giving back have happened in the past. It happened with Peter's season, Jake's season, I think. But I was more interested, I was more impressed that he wanted to kind of come out and really sort of handle that now. The thing I respect about Clayton is that he's not afraid to ask for help. Like again, it kind of goes back to the football thing. It's like, I got to figure everything out. I'll do it.
Starting point is 00:48:41 If he's not sure about something, like he'll stop down and be like, hey, what's in play? What can I do? Has anyone ever done this before? what do you think I should do? And then sort of try to process that, get the coaching and then and then go sort of activate his plan. He's, he's, like, Clayton, if anything, he's real. Like, he is real. And he owns his decisions.
Starting point is 00:49:05 And he kind of, in that moment, you know, for us, and you'll kind of see it, like, going into episode three. Like, you know, part of me is like, okay, you know, do you want to handle this now? And if so, what does that mean? Like, are you willing to do that? and go there. And it'll be interesting to see what lady ends up doing on Monday. Now, what are your thoughts on that situation as a whole, like about contestants coming on the show
Starting point is 00:49:31 and maybe having a friend with benefits before they get on or even with Hannah Brown, we saw Jet had a full-on girlfriend before that? Where do you think the line is drawn before you go on the show? Yeah, I mean, you know, I guess it's different for everybody. And I don't know if it's fair to put rules on. it like you know how can you ever police that or guard against that you know you know it's it's hard for the bachelor to know it's hard for producers to find those things out before they they cast it all i do know is is that i like having been on it and having watched the show for 20 years and seeing
Starting point is 00:50:07 you know these beautiful relationships come together and seeing people find love i do believe in the process and that it works however i think in order for it to work people have to surrender themselves to the process. And what I mean by that is it's really hard. The first few weeks of filming, you're still trying to get used to. There's 30 women. There's one dude. You know, we're all going on these group dates. There's cameras everywhere. It's really hard for me to be vulnerable and peel back layers in this situation. It's hard to do that. People can eventually get over that. But you also can't have any attachments to the outside world. You can't have, you know, a boyfriend, someone you're kind of casually dating.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Like if you're really going to give this thing an honest shot, I think you have to surrender fully. And I think we've seen in the past, what I think kind of the beauty and the magic of the show is that when people are able to do that and be true to the experience, then this thing can work. From Trista and Ryan in the beginning,
Starting point is 00:51:10 through Joe and Jordan to Matt and Rachel to, you know, what we've seen with Michelle and Nate, hopefully with Clayton. This thing can work, but this is a different age too, man, like versus when I was on the show. We didn't have social media. I mean, people today are able to monetize on it, really just launch a career. I had my dream job before doing the show.
Starting point is 00:51:31 I just went, I went literally right back to the locker room as soon as we got done filming. It was sort of a different time, a different thing. But I know if you really are coming on trying to find it, you have to surrender and you can't have attachments. Yeah, yeah. Well, it seems very nice. Like the relationship you have with Clayton seems very nice. You guys were really able to get to know each other and, you know, help each other in this scenario. Were you able to connect with like, were you able to get to know any of these women or were they able to talk to you as well? Or was it kind of a little bit more separated? For me, most of my time was really spent with Clayton. Yeah. Yeah. We're kind of in helping him sort of navigate everything and being with him. And a lot of the talks. early on sort of go to that. Obviously, you're sort of, you're sort of kind of omnipresent. You're always there. I'm always around. I'm around group dates and all those different things. So I'm aware of what's happening. But I really sort of spend most of my time and most of my focus. What surprised you most
Starting point is 00:52:30 as coming in as the new host? Like you have to have your preconceived thoughts about it. What took you by surprise? I think all the different hats you have to wear, really. I mean, it's funny. It's like, as I'm still figuring it out now. It's like there's times, you're an advisor. There's times you're a soundboard. There's times you're kind of playing therapist. And with Clayton, there were a lot of times I was just sort of cheerleading for him. I mean, I just thought along so well with him and I just believe in him so much and I love him so much that I really, really want this for him.
Starting point is 00:53:04 It's not as easy as me just walking out, reading off of a, you know, a jib camera and being like, good look. And just sort of walking off and just going in the back and watching all of the drama unfold. I just know how bad he wants this. And I know everybody says they want to find it. I know how hopeful Clayton is and how much pressure he's putting on himself right now to find his person on the show. And I want to help him do that in any way that I can. And so, you know, it was playing different roles at different times.
Starting point is 00:53:36 It was probably what I wasn't so ready for heading into it. Right. I want to go back quickly back to that first episode. because we saw, like you said, these women self-eliminate, and Sally was, Sally? Yes. Sally was a big part of that. Yes, Sally with an E. Yes. Sally was a big part of that. Did you know what was happening in that situation,
Starting point is 00:54:00 or was that something you found out about after she had already left? No, I, again, omnipresent sort of knew about it going in. And that's why kind of when I met Clayton out in the front, I was curious to sort of know where his headspace was at with that. Right. That's a hard start. That's like throwing a pick on the first play of a game, you know? And there's a whole game left, right?
Starting point is 00:54:24 I mean, we've seen that happen before. It doesn't necessarily impact the final score, but you've got to be able to get your head around that. And I just wanted to make sure Clayton was able to sort of move on from that and get ready for a huge first night when he was going to finally meet the women, and didn't want him to have any baggage or any negative feelings. He needed to be sort of in prime form for that night. And he certainly was, and I think he kind of hit the ground running. Now that you have one season of hosting under your belt, are you ready to take on the next seasons?
Starting point is 00:55:01 I love the show. If the show wants to have those conversations, I'll definitely have them. I've got my hands full, billing with Clayton. He didn't know what the first impression rose was. So I was like having to like, he really got to sort of hold his hand through everything and show him where the real ceremony. You're hoping for the next bachelor to be like,
Starting point is 00:55:22 I've watched every season, don't worry. I'm just right now, just got my hands full with my taller, better looking younger, more athletic brother who I secretly hate. I just wanted to like get through this. I'm just trying to help him at this point right now. Well, that's great. And I'm sure, like you said,
Starting point is 00:55:40 we have tons to see from Clayton for the rest of this season. From the previews, you know, it looks like there is no shortage of drama. I'm very looking forward to watching all of it and seeing the rest of his journey. Jesse, thank you so much for joining us and coming on today. Awesome sweater. I love the artwork. It's amazing. The Warhol chick soup can behind.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Yeah, we actually, I don't know if you could see. I don't think you can see it all the way at the top. But we have the rules are there are. no rules. Yeah, that's our. That's our bachelor. That's our bachelor. Yes.
