This is...
What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Rianne, giving you that Friday energy on a Thursday.
We did not talk to you guys this past Monday because of Labor Day weekend, but we hope you had a fantastic weekend and we are officially back.
It's the fall.
I would say this is presented.
by Francia all summer long, but it's not summer anymore. We're entering, you know, the fall months. It's
maybe not officially fall, but we're entering that. So you know what? This podcast is presented you by Francia,
as it always is every single week. Keep drinking that wine, six and a half bottles in each box.
No more go to the store and get in one bottle, two bottle, get the whole damn thing with Francia,
all different types of wine, Pinot Grisio, Rose. They also have different types like Sunset Blush,
and they also have little juice boxes as well.
Fran, what is your favorite?
Please tell the people.
You're getting me ready for the fall.
I feel it, you know.
Now I've got a switch, right?
Like I've been saying, Rose, it's the summer.
Now it's the fall, a nice crisp red,
around fire, fall foliage, you know, nice maybe cab.
Or they got, they have all the options.
So if you want to enjoy that wine,
like Ria and I are doing, go get your Franzia.
You know what, Fran?
I got a nice chillable red in my fridge that I'm going to drink right after this because
like you said, it's fall.
The weather may not be crisp yet, but it's headed that way.
Not to give you a full weather report, but I did see Friday we're entering the 60s,
and I'm happy about that.
I'm going to go to a nice dinner outside on the streets of New York City, possibly get
ran over by some cars because you're just dining in the middle of the street, but it is
what it is. I got a new leather jacket I'm pumped to wear. So you know what? I'm ready for the fall.
Exactly. It's peak my favorite outfits. Like we're reaching that this time of year when you can do
like jeans, a little booty, a sweater and a leather jacket. Oh, my favorite. My favorite.
Same, Fran, I feel you. We also have so many exciting things coming up now that the fall is here.
I feel like, you know, the summer, the dog days of summer, we're over that hunch now. We're over that hunch now.
We got football coming back. Fran, you're doing a new football show that you're excited about. That will be coming out soon. And we got big plans for October, huge plans for October. We're not going to tell you just yet, but just be ready because we're going to blow your socks off.
Yeah, the socks are just going to come completely off. And you're going to be so ready for what we have in store. But like I said, we didn't talk to you guys on Monday. So we do not. We do have a lot to talk about.
am I right? You are right. Thank you. Thank you for making me feel like I am right, Francesco.
We got a lot of topics to get through. But how are you doing before we get into those topics?
Quick, quick checkup. I'm well. Thank you very much. I'm coming to you live from a camp in New Hampshire.
My boyfriend's sister runs a summer camp up here and we came to visit them for a couple days because they are basically staying in New Hampshire for
the foreseeable future. And we're just enjoying that in that camp life for a couple days.
And you know what? I'm jealous. Live it up. Soak it all in. Do me a favor, friend. When you're there,
soak it in. Really, really enjoy the time you have there. I feel inspiration at all.
Ria, you know what they got in the water? Don't tell me. One of the, not jet skis. Don't worry.
Thank God. Don't worry. Don't worry. But the like inflatable.
like obstacle courses, you know, with the trampoline that's in the water.
Oh, I'm so jealous. Yeah, you're going to get some good action out there. I'm really jealous of you.
Really, really jealous. Cannot explain that anymore. I wish I was out of camp in New Hampshire. I do. I
should have just came with you guys. I don't know where, you know, my invite got lost, but that's okay.
We're going to get into the topics for today because we have a lot to catch up on. First off,
Justin Bieber appearing in Drake's music video for pop stuff.
We got to talk about that.
Oh my God, he looks so good.
We'll save it.
Keeping up with the Kardashians is coming to an end.
Love Island, US is getting hot and steamy.
We're going to recap what we've seen so far.
Sophia Ritchie and Scott Dissick, as we know, officially broke up.
She was now spotted with Jaden Smith getting cozy.
Zach Ephron has a new girlfriend.
You're going to want to hear about this love story.
And we have an amazing interview with Kelsey Ballerini.
but don't forget we have one more topic because I just did.
Jacob L.R.D. and Kaya Gerber were also spotted all over the U.S.
So you know what that means.
Can't stop talking about them.
No, we can't.
And you know what?
We just can't.
That's completely fine.
Kaya Gerber has made her way into this podcast as a, you know.
A star.
As a star on this show.
He's like the third host.
Right?
It's like we always do is talk about Kaya Gerber at this point.
I hope she knows that.
I know.
Let's get into it.
Starting off with talking about Justin Bieber,
starring in the pop star music video.
pop star, great song, by the way, and it is starring the one and only Justin Bieber, who looks
fantastic. I cannot say it enough. He looks so damn good and sexy. I just, that's how I feel about it.
Forgive the Bieber pun, but he looks yummy. He looks really yummy. He looks really yummy. Bunch. Nailed it.
I've been waiting to say that one for days. I'm happy you got that one off. Thank you. And you know,
Enria, like, this song, I remember listening to the song and being like, okay, it's okay, you know.
But like the second time I watched the music video, I was like, oh, I love this song.
It makes me really happy that you love this song now because I've loved this song ever since it came out,
but I do enjoy rap more than you do.
I feel like when Drake releases a song, I'm a little bit more excited than you are.
But since Justin Bieber is mouthing the words, you almost feel like it's just,
Justin Bieber's song, which now when you listen to the song, you picture Justin Bieber looking hot
as fuck walking around this mansion. He looks so good, so healthy. His skin looks fantastic. His hair.
It's kind of like throwback Bieber hair. It's all amazing. He looks clean, which is the best part
about it because for a little, a little while, Justin Bieber was looking a little dirty. Like he needed a little scrub
and dub-du-du-du. But he's looking clean. He's looking clean. Haley's taking good care of him.
She is. And you know what? She posted on her story that, or she was doing some interview,
where she said that she was giving Justin Bieber advice for his skin and how to make his skin better
because we all know she has absolutely flawless. And I've actually picked up on some of her
skincare routines. I bought the products. They're very expensive. I had to. One day I was like,
you know what, I want my skin to look like Haley Bieber, so I'm going to buy this product.
I don't know if I recommend everybody doing that because I don't know if I'm going to buy it again,
but I had to at least try. Worth a try. Worth a try. Exactly. And you know what? I had two
criticisms of this. Actually, it was really just one. One criticism. Too much DJ Khalid. Sorry DJ
Callid. I know it's your song, but you talked for way too long at the beginning of this video.
Cut to the chase. Let's get to Bieber. Like it's a, it's a, it's a,
minute video and the first minute is DJ Khalid's face time that nobody cares about.
I hate to be exact, but I think the actual time is like eight minutes and 36 seconds. I don't know.
That's a wild guess. I actually now want to go and confirm it because I just threw that out there.
I would love to know where that number came from. I think I just remember like seeing it in my head.
Oh, oh, I was close. I was close. Eight minutes and six seconds. I threw that three.
in there for no reason. But yeah, the first two minutes was like DJ Khalid rambling on.
It's like, your voice is so annoying when you listen to it for too long.
And it's so funny because we're like, it's not about you DJ Khalid, but like it is his song,
but regardless. You don't see Justin Bieber until two and a half minutes in.
That's far too long, far too long.
I will say when Drake posted the initial teaser for the video, I didn't see anything about
Justin Bieber. I just saw the text from DJ Khalid and the video of DJ Khalid. So I was like,
I'll watch it eventually. Then two hours after that at 2 a.m. We were driving to situate. I saw it.
I was like, oh my God, Justin Bieber starring in this music video. I watched it five times within that
drive home. Like I just you texted us at like 4 a.m. Like I woke up and I woke up and that was the first thing I saw.
so I didn't even know he was in this music video.
And I think you would just say,
I can't stop watching the pop star video.
And I literally had no idea what we were talking about.
I was like, what is she talking?
Did she send this as like a dream?
She's like, sleep, sent us a text at 4 a.m.
And then I checked Twitter and saw everyone freaking out.
Yes.
I also want to throw in another criticism.
Now, let me know how you feel about this, Fran.
I don't know where you lie on it.
Obviously, I'm a Haley Bieber stand.
If you listen to this podcast, then you know how I feel about Haley Bueber.
I've been a fan of this girl since, like, 2014.
She's been like my number one favorite model.
I've loved her forever.
I've rooted for her and Justin Bieber forever.
I had a bad feeling she was going to be on this music video.
Like, just from seeing Justin Bieber act like a playboy again,
I was like, Haley's going to have to be in this somehow
because he's acting like a playboy again.
Justin Bueber, he's a married man.
He's very devoted to his wife, which he should be.
There's no shame in that.
But the ending, I'm happy she was in it.
Good for her.
Too cheesy for me to even watch a second time.
I watched it the first time,
but when I went back and rewatched the music videos,
I ended it.
I just didn't watch that part again.
Because I don't know why.
It was just too cheesy.
I love them.
I'm happy for them,
but it was very cheesy for me to watch a second time.
I truly think that.
Haley might appear in every single one of Justin's music videos he does for the rest of his life.
For like if they state for as long as they are married, I don't know if he will ever do a music
video that she's not in if there are other girls in the video.
And I don't know how I feel about that because I get it like if.
Yeah.
I don't even think it's Haley.
I don't think it's her.
Yes.
I don't think it's her.
I think it's Justin Bieber wanting Haley to be in the videos, which is completely fine.
He loves his wife and he wants everyone to know it.
We know it, though.
We got it.
But you know what?
It is what it is.
Fantastic video.
And I just want to give a special shout out to all those David Doberg fans out there that
know Zane because Zane was in the music video out of nowhere.
Props to him just being in one of Drake's music videos.
Good for you.
Really, really happy for you.
As an extra, like that's all I want in the Outer Banks.
It's all I wanted was to be an extra.
It's not like Zane was star.
in the music video. It is what it is. Not bitter, though. No, no, I'm not mad. Chase liked my
picture that I posted on Instagram the other day, and I almost think that he liked it as like a
sorry that we didn't put you in season two. Like here, here's a pity like. Like, we still like you,
but sorry that we didn't put you in season. Yeah, it's possible. It was a pity like. But he's back in
the in the bubble. He's in the Outer Banks bubble, you know? He's just probably so happy.
happy to be back there. And he's just exactly like you said, being like, ooh, Ria's not here.
I better like, I should like her pick. I feel like my picture popped up and he was like,
oh, I never reached back out to her about a promo in season two. Let me just, we still like her
though. So let me just give her that like. Wouldn't be surprised.
Another turning point of fork stuck in the road. Tom grabs you by the rest of directs you,
to go.
So make the best of this test and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learning time, it's something unpredictable.
But in the end is right, I hope you at the time of your life.
So heading into fall, we have had some busy days.
Ria and I have a lot planned.
You know, we're super excited for everything that's going on with chicks in the office.
And, you know, it's football season.
It's just, it feels like things are picking up.
So there are days when I'm not even looking up for my computer and realize that, you know,
it's the end of the day and that I've just kind of skipped lunch or a meal.
So when those, when you are in those days where meetings are back to back, you need to have

The Kardashians announced that after what will be 14 years and 20 seasons,
on air, the show will be coming to an end in the last season airing in early 2021. They put out a large
statement all over social media. And it's a sad day for all Kardashian lovers out there.
It really is. And you know what? The first sentence kind of reads like an obituary.
Like it's, she wrote, it's with heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision as a family to
say goodbye to keeping up with the Kardashians.
It's like, it's like,
Chris Jenner died.
It's like they put down their beloved pet,
keeping up with the Kardashians.
Like, it was with heavy hearts that we,
you know,
had to put down our dog.
I feel like is what,
but anyway,
like you said,
14 years, 20 seasons,
100 of episodes,
spin-off shows.
She said,
we'll forever treasure,
cherish the wonderful memories
and countless people we met along the way.
Thank you to E.
Brian Seagrest,
blah, blah, blah.
Our last season will air
early next year in 2021.
Without the show,
I wouldn't be where I am today.
So I'm going to be grateful.
The whole thing.
With love and gratitude, Kim.
If you want to laugh, go read Northwest,
the parody Northwest version of that.
It's very funny.
Yes, I did laugh at that parody.
Got a good laugh at the Addison Ray thrown in there.
Yeah.
Listen, part of me thought that they would go on forever.
We'd see them as grandparents.
You know, we'd see the kids grow up.
We thought Kardashians would go on forever.
And then part of me thought, you know what?
It's time for it to end.
We see everything that happens between them anyway, go on social media.
I mean, with the Tristan and Chloe scandal,
which is the biggest scandal that I can remember right now as of lately,
we saw that all go down in the news.
And then we saw it on keeping up with the Kardashian months and months later.
So when it aired on TV, it didn't feel like must watch TV to me.
I was like, I've seen this all happen.
I've seen the tweets from Chloe.
I've seen it all go down.
I'm not as interested as I was when it first came out.
Definitely.
I agree with you.
And I'm surprised, but I also, like the logical brain part of my brain is like,
why are you surprised, you idiot?
The whole last season was Courtney talking about how she didn't want to do the show.
Like they're clearly over it.
I just kind of thought, you know, if there's so many of them, if one was to drop out,
they would continue to do it.
But it does, it's sad, but it does also feel like maybe it's the right time, you know,
a nice round number, 20 seasons.
It's a pretty number.
20 is my, is, you know, my number, favorite number.
And it just.
That's why the Kardashians ended.
They were like, this is Frances.
Francesca Mariano's favorite number and we're going to end on season 20.
I know that's what they said.
That's exactly what went down in the group chat.
Sources filled page six that they just, quote, got tired of it.
Tired of doing the show.
Just fair, they got a million other things going on.
Their kids are getting older.
Maybe they don't want their kids being on the show as much.
I also think they'll probably never say it, but with all the shit that's gone,
down with, oh my God, giant fly. Okay, with all the shit that's gone down with Kanye, there's no way Kim is
able to film her life without including all of that stuff. And maybe she just doesn't want to keep doing
that. I agree. I feel like there's so many factors at this point. They've gotten wildly,
wildly famous. I mean, I don't even have to say that. They're the Kardashians. They don't need a
reality to do anymore. No. No. I did see a rumor on that page.
you told me to follow. I don't even know how to pronounce it. Do more?
Du mois de mois. However, do more. It's like Instagram blinds kind of. Yes. But not even
it's like a, yeah. People send DMs and from sources and then they post it. They posted that
the Kardashians wanted more money and E wouldn't give it to them and they couldn't reach an agreement,
which I do not believe. I know that they may have their sources. I just don't believe that. I feel
like the Kardashians are the Kardashians. They get however much they want. I can't see Brian
see Christa. I'm like, no, Chris Jenner, I ain't giving you this money. Like, I just don't see
that happening. I feel like it was a whole factor of things. Maybe, you know, since Courtney didn't want to do
the show, the others felt like they didn't want to hold it on their back and carry the show. And, you know,
if Courtney's not in the show and then Kendall's not in the show and then Kylie's not in the show,
and then it's just Kim and Chloe, is it keeping up with the Kardashians or is it keeping up with
Kim and Chloe at that point. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. I could, I could for sure see Kim and Chloe kind of getting
tired of holding that show up because they were really the only ones that were giving their
whole lives to the show. We only saw bits and pieces, I feel like, of everybody else. So that's,
you know, like you said, that's the end of that. We will get episodes until like the beginning of
2021. So hopefully we do see some juicy stuff to end.
I hope we see a little bit of Rob, which is, they said that Rob has been filming with them.
So that would be nice.
If we could just all end it together, I don't know why I just am already imagining myself crying at whatever the last episode of the show is going to be.
I'm just, I'm picturing them like all like sitting around the dinner table and just like have like a group cheers to the show.
And I'm going to cry.
I have chills. I'm thinking that they're going to end it the same way that the initial promo used to be,
with everyone being like, Kim, come on. And they're all setting up minus Caitlin Jenner. I don't think
Caitlin Jenner is going to be in it. But I think that they're going to be such a cute idea.
It's going to go full circle. I think they're going to end it in that way. I'm getting teary-eyed thinking about it.
Even though I don't watch every episode of Keeping Pradeshians anyway. I don't even watch the show.
I just see what happens with them so often. But it was such a staple.
I feel like, I mean, it has been 14 years.
You know, of course, Laguna Beach and the Hills were the first or one of the first reality shows to be on air.
But keeping up with the Kardashians really was the reality show.
They turned their entire lives into a complete empire with that show.
And many people followed suit.
Do you think the D'Amalios are going to be on E?
That is the question.
I feel like they're the next Kardashians.
Granted, there's not as many, but, you know, Mark and Heidi, the parents of Charlie and Dixie
are just as much involved in TikTok as Charlie and Dixie are. So what do you think about that?
I can totally see that. I think they also have enough friends where they would have key friends
that were involved. And it would be kind of the Hills-esque, but more family-oriented,
I would think. Kind of like real housewiles.
like where but where the kids are like much more in the in the uh forefront of the show
I also think they're going to have to do something because you know keeping up with the
Kardashians was such a major part for that network like it's such a major show for that network
so you got to get something big big for people to care about again and draw some eyeballs to
TV because kids aren't watching TV anymore. Kids these days, they ain't watching TV.
But you slap Dixie and Charlie on there on Sunday nights. You're probably going to get,
you know, 16 to 20 year old and above, obviously, I'm counting us to, but I'm thinking more core
that age to watch TV. Call me crazy. I think they'd get more viewers than the Kardashians.
At this point in time. At this point, I don't, I don't really think you're wrong. I can't tell
the last time I watched the Kardashians when it was like on TV, like Sundays at 9. Like I would watch
on the EAP like weeks later. Yeah. And catch up on all the episodes. Yeah. But I would maybe tune in
live for the D'Amelia show. Me too. It's sad to say, but I think I would. And we all know
Addison Ray has been spending a lot of time with Courtney and the Kardashians. She was in Kim's
Skim's campaign. Maybe that's why they were spending so much time with Adam. Maybe she's being
groomed. Yeah. They're like,
learning the ropes. Or they're like, we got to stay relevant. Our show's ending. And now we need to stay
relevant with what's happening. And that's Addison right. Either, either way, feel like this was the road.
They were headed down. I'd love to see what Chris Jenner has in store next. I do feel like a
spinoff show will happen in the future. I don't think that the Kardashians are completely done with TV.
I don't think they ever can be. I think that in the future, in the future, we are going to see some type of
Kardashian show back on E, whether it's based on just Kim.
family and the West, whether, you know, actually not Courtney, I'm counting her out because we all
know how badly she doesn't want to be a part of it. Maybe it's about Kylie. Maybe Kylie gets a full
blown reality show. I mean, she had life with Kylie and, you know, I think maybe now it would be
even bigger. It was still big. But I don't think this is it. I think in years to come, we will
see something else from the Kardashians on TV. It's only a matter of time before Mason wants his own
reality show. You know that kid wants the spotlight. You can tell from the TikToks and the lives,
like, Mason's going to want to be back on TV. And he can have it. Mason Dissig goes to the E reps and
says, I want a TV show. They give Mason Dissick a TV show. Maybe Mason and Scott can get their own
little like father-son duo show. That would be so cute. I would love that. Cut out Courtney,
she doesn't want to be on it, but give us Scott. Yep. Exactly. That just made.
me sad. No more Scott. That might be the sad. That might be the saddest part, not seeing Scott's
funny humor anymore. I mean, he's not active on social media. Yeah. We're not going to get any
funniness from Scott anymore. That's sad. That's the saddest part about this. It is. It is.
All right, guys, we're going to get into talking about this season of Love Island US. But first,
we want to talk about a really exciting partnership that is new to the podcast. And you guys are going to
want to hear about this because we have some really exciting things coming and we're really
passionate about this brand. Hard candy cosmetics, hard candy beauty, all of the makeup products
from hard candy. We have been testing and using for a little while now to get ready for this
launch and we are absolutely loving them. Hard candy products are 100% cruelty free and they're
available at Walmart and Walmart.com. You have to go on Walmart.com, Walmart.com, sorry, make that
little more clear, Walmart.com, and search hard candy cosmetics and all of their products will come up.
You guys have been asking me, you know, sometimes I wear like crazy eyeshadow colors or not crazy,
but I'll wear like a lime green or I'll wear a blue or I'll wear a pink and I really just mix it up.
I am using the hard candy eye shadow palettes. They have all different colors, glitter galore,
and I'm absolutely loving it as well as their winged eyeliner. Well, I do the winged eyeliner,
but their liquid black eyeliner I've been using for my wing and it works perfectly.
And I'm really just loving these products because they debuted a whole new line of hybrid
formulas that help prep, prime and create endless makeup looks.
All formulas are skin-carrying, color daring.
Like I said, I'm doing crazy eye shadow colors these days.
You guys, you know, from your DMs, you guys say you love it.
I'm getting it from hard candy.
And they are professional quality all for under $10.
That is the best part about this.
You see makeup brands all the time costs like $40 or more.
And to me, that's just ridiculous.
Why are you paying that price when you can pay $10 or less for the same products,
same quality that's good for your skin, that cares for your skin,
and also is going to make you look great.
Yeah, Ria, you're right.
We've been trained to think that like, oh, you know, the more expensive.
It's not true.
The hard candy stuff is so, so great.
We've been using it for a few weeks now.
We, you know, we got to meet with hard candy a few weeks ago and check out all the products.
We were like kids in a candy store.
No, another great friend pun.
You're welcome.
Yeah.
And they're really so, so great.
Like we were saying, she was feeling those like neon eyeshadows.
They also have a great, like, bronzy palette.
and one of my favorite things that they have right now that I've been loving is their
eyebrow stuff.
It's so great.
Their little eyebrow pencil and brush because the brush is not the spoolie.
It's like actually a little tiny brush.
And it just brushes your eyebrows out so well.
The pencil is a little slanted so it gets in all the right places.
And we've just really been very.
been loving all of these products. They've got lip plumbers, eyeshires, the brow tools, everything,
plus great primers, toners, mists, and their on-trend ingredients from hemp oil to hyaluronic acid
and rosewater to allot water. So they have tons of great things. You can go to Walmart.com
slash hard candy to get some hard candy for yourself. Exactly. And like we said, we mentioned all the
products they have, and we've been testing them out for weeks now. We've been loving it. And as the podcast
goes on. We are going to be talking about our favorite products. So we want you to try them too.
You know, right now we suggest trying out those eye shadow pallets we talked about. Get the crazy
colors. Get the neutrals. If you're more into that, some days I like a neutral color.
So get the neutral palettes as well. Test out the eye shadow palettes. See how you like them.
And every week, we're going to be talking about our favorite products. So make sure you go to
Walmart.com. Don't go to hard candy. Go to Walmart.com. Why do I say dots? So why do I keep doing that?
Walmart.com.
Type in hard candy cosmetics.
All the products will show up or you want to type in hard candy eye shadow.
That will show up.
Get the products.
They're under $10.
So it's very affordable.
Tag us.
Tag us in your makeup looks.
We're going to be posting more makeup looks ourselves using these products.
And we're really just excited about our partnership all together with hard candy.
So like Fran said, go to Walmart slash hard candy to get some hard candy for yourself.
Love Island US has been airing every single night. We've been keeping up. We've been watching it. And it's time to dive in to what's happening. Obviously, we are going to be a day late. So we're filming this on Wednesday. There's going to be an episode Wednesday night that we're not going to be able to talk about because like I said, we're recording on Wednesday. But we will talk about everything up until that point. Fran, who is your favorites on the show right now if you had to pick?
It's hard because honestly, no one.
I will say that, you know, we talked about the first, you know, few episodes because that was really at the time what we had watched. Now we're up to date.
I still really love Moira. I still think she's the most normal because I feel like she now is not getting as much airtime.
You know, she had that drama with James and it was intense. Like now she's been kind of, you know,
doing her own thing.
And the poor girl with the crutches, I was like, oh, my God.
Now you got to hobble around everywhere.
But I feel like we should maybe start kind of from like that first big, not the bigger
elimination.
I forget what's her name who got sent home first.
She was very pretty with the blue eyes.
What was her name?
Caitlin?
Yes, I think Caitlin.
But then, you know, Jeremiah and James both.
got sent home. James lost his shit and unfortunately that wasn't going to, that wasn't going to fly.
And we got some new boys coming in, Calvin, Caleb. It's hard to remember all the names sometimes.
But I feel like the main focus, the main couple that's been getting the most attention is McKenzie
and Connor. And boy, did they suck. I can't take them. I can't take anybody on this show. And that's
why I'm having a hard time remembering all their names because that I don't like anybody. I like a few of
them. I like Justine. I like Moira. Am I saying it right? I can't even, I don't even know who's
nailed it right. You nailed it. Moira. Perfect. Can't take McKenzie. Just I can't take it. I mean,
everything like this is, there's obviously more than just this. But there was two instances that I was like,
stop calling dibs on everything. One with the hideaway. She was like,
going. It's like, bitch, that's not how it works. People vote for you to go to the hideaway. You
don't volunteer to go in. Every episode that I've seen of Love Island, where there is a hideaway and a couple
gets picked to go into this hideaway. Have you ever seen somebody say, I want to go in, or do you see
everybody vote for them? You see everybody vote for them. You see people vote for them. And it's normally a
unanimous decision because people want to support their friends. And it just goes to show how everyone
feels about them as a couple. Because no one was like, I can see and Connor.
send them in. It's like, listen, you got to give other people a chance. And then the champagne bottles,
this is not even, it's barely relevant to the show. I think it was one clip where there were champagne bottles.
And she was like, I'm popping the first one. And it's like, slow down. You don't have to be the first to
everything. You don't need to volunteer for everything. You know what I mean? It's just like, oh, and she looks totally,
I don't want to shit on her completely because I, you know, she's still obviously a very pretty girl.
And I feel bad for her because she clearly has some relationship issues.
You can tell the way she interacts with Connor.
And like I said, she's very pretty.
She looks nothing like her Instagram.
Absolutely nothing.
There are times where it's like, okay, that, you know, slightly off.
She just looks nothing like her Instagram whatsoever.
And I'm just like, if you just looked like how you did on Love Island,
you'd still be famous on Instagram.
You're a very pretty girl.
It's just like, I'm just like looking at two different people here.
Yeah. And I think the moment that I knew, and it's, and it sucked because she was probably very sad in that moment. But when they had, when they had America vote for Lauren to go on the date with Connor, and she was like, why would America do this to me? And I was like, oh, my God, maybe because we can all visibly see that this boy is drag.
He, like, does not know how to be in a relationship.
He doesn't know what planet he's on this poor kid.
Like, he's lost.
He's lost, and I don't even like him either.
Like, I'm not even that big, you know, I could really do without both of them.
But at the same time, I actually like having them on the show because it gives us some drama to talk about, like, right now.
If they weren't on, I don't know what would be happening.
The other couples, they bore me.
So at least we have-spice isn't coming from anyone else.
Yeah, at least we have Connor McKenzie to talk about.
But now we have Casa Amor, which thank God Love Island U.S. is doing this. It's something we see in the U.K.
We haven't seen it in the first season of Love Island U.S. And I think that's what it was lacking.
It needed this nice switchup. And we are now getting that. And I was hoping that we'd see
Connor's head turn. Maybe we do. I didn't see the episode to Wednesday night yet. But I'm rooting for that.
I'm rooting for a lot of things in Casa more. But also,
like nobody that both sides girls and boys nobody who really came in that I was like oh yeah let's go
like I'm excited for whatever this person does I just didn't have that reaction I don't know
and you know what I was also upset about Lauren getting sent home I'm sorry Lauren was great
she was in there she didn't care she was stepping on people's toes she was going on dates she was
trying to find her guy because I just feel like the the with the US show I don't know what it is but
people are way more reluctant to like go on other dates it's like everybody pairs up so fast
and then they get so locked in that there's no like there's no jumping on each other like there's no
kind of going in between I feel like the only person that was really doing it was tray who was
like, oh, I like everybody here.
Which I liked.
I'm sad, Tray went home.
I wanted to leave because I wanted Tray there because he actually knew how to play
the game. He knew how to navigate Love Island.
He knew what he was signing up for. This is what we talked about when the season first started.
Yep. The fact that the two of them went home at the same time was a massive loss for the show.
I texted Jurea that like Love Island U.S. should just be comprised of people from the U.K.
now live in the U.S.
Like just like Lauren's like I, you know, I'm from England, but I live in L.A. now.
Okay, let's just get 30 of Lauren into this place.
Exactly.
And I feel like Kirsten went home, uh, stayed because they've, they've known her for longer
and she's created more friendships with people.
And that's how she got to stay.
Don't know how Karrington got to stay.
They, Kirsten was so upset that Karrington was staying.
Like she was sobbing that Trey got sent home because she had just broken up with Carrington.
Now the two of them are stuck there.
They don't like each other.
Thank God we got Casa Amor so we can see more relationships happen.
But like you said, with that Casa Amor people, nobody jumped out to me.
There's nobody I'm excited about.
I don't like this new girl who's, you know, rubbing all up on Johnny because Johnny's head is turning.
And I know I do like Johnny and Sally.
I do like them.
It's, I like Sally a lot.
And I feel like this girl, Mercedes, is just a copy of Selly.
Like, they kind of look alike.
And I just, I'm just confused what Johnny's doing.
Like, you already have a Mercedes.
You have Selly.
They look alike.
So what, I mean, and Selle seems like she has a better personality from what I've seen so far.
Right.
I am happy to see, like, someone doing something.
I know that it's, you know, with Johnny and Selly who people love.
But I'm just glad.
someone's doing something, making some moves.
Laurel, the blonde, you know, the southern, she's southern.
She was very cute.
And she had kind of said to Carrington what I personally had seen, like, you know,
kind of came off on the show, like not great.
And she said that to his face.
But, I don't know, it seemed like she was warming, warming up to him.
So we'll see.
I feel like we could sneaky see a lot of new couples from this.
Like, I feel like the boys are probably going to bring back a lot of those girls
and maybe not the girls as much for the boys.
Like, the girls might get screwed.
I feel the same way.
I'm just excited to see some shit happen.
I know.
Bring back Lauren.
Can they bring back Lauren?
I want her back on the show.
Yeah, it would be cool if they introduced the house.
where they've been keeping the people that got sent home and they just throw them back.
What was that called on the challenge?
That's what I was saying.
The challenge, but I don't remember what the house was called.
Redemption?
Redemption.
Yes.
I think that's it.
I think that.
That's what it sounds like it was.
It does.
It should be called that.
If it's not, it should be called that.
We need a Love Island Redemption House.
Zach Efron is officially off the market again.
He has been spending a lot of time.
in Australia.
Seems like he wants to make his new home, Australia.
He loves living down there.
I think it's a little less, you know, quote-unquote Hollywood.
And he has a new girlfriend whose name is Vanessa.
Not to be confused with Vanessa Hutchins, but Vanessa, I'm going to take a wild guess.
Vanessa Valadaris, she's very beautiful.
Good guess.
Thank you.
She actually worked at a restaurant that it seems Zach had frequented.
They became friends.
Now they're dating.
Daily Mail says she has quit her job waitressing.
And she's also a model.
So she's living the dream.
Isn't that what everyone has always dreamed of with Zach Ephron?
Yes.
That you would just be working.
I think I've had that dream.
Yeah.
Like I think I've had that dream.
Exactly.
You'd be working in a restaurant, a cafe, maybe a store of some sort.
Like a barista?
Yeah, Zach Ephron comes in.
He locks eyes with you and he just immediately is like, whoa, what's your name?
You give your name.
He asks for your number.
You give your number.
Zach Efron calls you the next day.
And then from there, the rest of this history, you guys have an amazing love story.
You're known as the new Vanessa because obviously when everyone saw this, they were like,
oh, my God, I thought he was back with Vanessa Hutchins, which would be the god.
damn dream. Like if Vanessa Hutchins and Zach Neffron got back together, I would kiss the ground,
the dirty sidewalk of New York City because I'd be so happy. Like, I'd do anything. I would just,
it would be my childhood dreams coming true. That's never going to happen. So thankfully,
I won't have to kiss the New York sidewalk. Or else people are going to hold that against me.
It is tough. It is tough to see the Vanessa, a new Vanessa. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's just,
I've never really had it in my own life, so maybe I don't get it. But like, when people date people
with the same name, it just feels weird to me. I very much agree. I know somebody who has dated
three people with the same name. I'm not going to blow up their spot. You know what I'm talking about.
three people with the same damn name who also shares a name with someone very close to them in their life.
And I'm not talking about Hank guys. Hank has not dated three reos. I feel like people think that's what I'm going to think to. No, I just don't want to talk about this person publicly. But how do you do that? I mean, I guess it's easy so you don't have a name slip up, but it's still weird. Right. This girl I know has dated three boys with the same name as well.
Like, I just, oh my God.
Also, my sister.
Once it hits three, that's a lot.
Three is a lot.
My sister also is the same thing.
My sister had a boyfriend.
My sister won't care as much as if I blow up her spot.
Yeah.
My sister had a boyfriend for many years with the name James.
And then they broke up.
And then she is now married to a James.
And she never, she didn't date anybody in between that time.
It just was James, James.
I was like, okay.
You never have to work.
You never have to worry about slipping up on the name, right?
Like, there's no worrying about saying the wrong name or anything like that.
Very, very interesting situation.
But maybe it's not as weird as we think because we just have never done it.
So I don't know.
True.
I feel like...
Do you think that she knew who Zach Ephron was?
Yes.
Yes.
I mean, Australia is pretty far away.
But Australia knows who Zach Ephron.
He is wildly famous.
It would be a cooler story if he didn't know in my eyes.
It would be a cooler story, but she knows who Zach Ephron is.
I think any girl in the ages of 15 to 35, yeah, even, you know what, go up to 85 because
everyone, every woman knows who Zach Ephron is.
I 100% think she would know who Zach Ephron is, especially because she's, you know, she's on social
media, she's an aspiring model. You know what I also came to realize after seeing a bunch of articles
about this? Whenever there's a new person dating a celebrity who's like not really that famous,
and the articles come out that are like, get to know Zach Efron's new girlfriend or like six
things about Zach Efron's new girlfriends. And every time I click, thinking I'm actually going to
find out something interesting.
And the first three are always like, she's blank years old.
She, you know, she was a waitress.
She met Zach in a restaurant.
And then the last ones are like, she's an aspiring model, which, okay, we see her campaigns
on Instagram.
And then without fail, there's always, she loves to travel.
Who doesn't love to travel?
Who doesn't love to travel?
Just like based on her Instagram, it looks like she loves to travel.
I agree. I feel like everyone's goal in life is they just want to drop everything and travel.
Like that's what I want to do more than anything. And I think that you can all agree with me that you would drop everything right now to just go travel.
Noah's shaking his head. He's like, yes, I want to go travel very bad. Yeah, you can put that under one of my characteristics.
Loves to travel. Loves to travel. Get to know, France. She loves to travel.
If you pointed out anybody on the street and you said, you have to name three things about that person, just put in, loves to travel.
travel and you already got one. Let me guess. You love to travel. You definitely love to travel.
Yep. For sure. Exactly. Exactly. But you know what? They're a picture of them. They're holding hands.
They were skiing a couple months ago. So it looks like Zach is really full-blown starting his new life, down under.
I think I'm falling for you. I think I'm falling for you. If you don't call me, I'll jump off the roof.
If you don't call me, I'll jump off the road.
Can you any call me after school?
I tell her I want to talk to you.
Still can't believe that's how we may.
That's one day I'll never forget.

Sophia Ritchie was spotted with her longtime friend, Jaden Smith.
They were on the beach,
frolicking, holding hands.
They were kind of like plain in the water.
And it seems like she is doing just fine post-Scott breakup.
These two are the same age.
If they started dating, they would be very, very cute.
I feel like it's when you have the kids that date and when they were like 13, it was young puppy love.
And then they grow up and they find each other again in that way.
And it's very sweet.
I feel the same way.
I feel like that they've been friends for a really long time.
Jaden Smith has been in this circle of friends for a long time.
It is what it is.
It's cute.
I got nothing else to say about it besides I'm rooting for them.
I actually do hope that they turn out to be a couple.
I feel like Jaden Smith is the perfect match for Sophia Richie.
Dissick, he was a little older, you know, he had the Courtney baggage, the whole Kardashian baggage.
You know, well, Jaden Smith's got the Smiths on his back, but that's a whole other thing that Sophia
doesn't have to be involved in. And I also saw reports that, you know, obviously another source that I
have no idea if this is right or not, but take it, take it as a grain of salt, as you will,
from that same Instagram account. Somebody said that Jaden Smith has loved Sophia for years
and has wished that, you know, they could date. And she's, she's the one.
and he just, you know, looks at her so lovingly.
Yes, for sure.
Do most.
Scoop.
So if that's the case, that's super cute.
And I'm rooting for them.
I feel like Sophia should give him a chance and open on a shot.
I feel like, you know, when you know somebody for a long time,
you've been friends with them, you are not quick to date that person.
You're always quick to look for something else out there.
You're not really looking for the nice guy that's right next to you,
staring you straight in the eyes saying, hey, pick me.
But after a breakup, maybe you are looking for that.
So maybe that's where Sophia's at.
Definitely.
And she is hard to resist.
There's one picture I was scrolling through the pictures and I started cracking up because
there's one picture of them on the beach.
Jaden's behind her and she's kind of looks like she's running.
But it's just like a phenomenal ass shot.
Like she has the best ass of anyone I've ever seen.
Like it's really phenomenal.
And Jaden is just locked in on.
you can tell he's just staring at her ass.
She's got in one of those thong bikinis.
She looks amazing.
Sophia Ritchie has my ideal body type.
Yes, she does.
She has the most perfect body.
Abbs, great ass.
It's big, but it's perfect looking.
She's got great boobs.
She just is so absolutely stunningly beautiful.
Like there's no other ways to put it.
Sophia Ritchie is perfect.
And she's, I just, you know,
I've never even really seen her talk that much,
don't really know much about her besides following her on Instagram.
But she seems like a nice person in my eyes.
And also, she's beautiful.
I'm just like, I'm rooting for you, Sophia, Richie.
You seem, you know, unproblematic to me, and I like you.
Exactly.
Probably the only thing I've watched where I saw her speak for a decent amount of time
was her, like, the Vogue, you know, my skincare beauty routine videos.
She did one of those.
It was very informative.
I actually took some tricks from her.
If you haven't, if you haven't seen it, you know,
she had some good tips.
But yeah, that's probably the only time.
But she's great.
And I think we can both agree that her and Jaden would be a great couple.
All right.
I feel like we've talked about Jacob Ellardy and Kyra,
a billion times on this podcast in the last few weeks.
But we do have to give an update.
The last time we talked about them, you know,
sources were saying they were just friends.
bullshit. We call bullshit because here they are now in New York City, holding hands, going to dinner.
They're spending every waking moment together. They're not friends. They're dating. They are in the
stages of dating. They are definitely not just friends. Yeah, they're friends that are dating.
Like, they're not just friends that are dating. They're not just friends. Like, I hate when they pull that.
Obviously, you know, some cases they happen to be just friends. But this is not the case. We've seen them
out and about in New York City multiple times now.
Today they were going to the gym together.
Yesterday they were holding hands, walking around some market in New York City.
These two are full-blown dating.
I'm happy for them.
Listen, we don't know what happened with Jacob and Zendaya.
Maybe they only dated for a short period of time.
Maybe they were just testing the waters.
I've talked about it.
Me, Jacob, to stop dating his co-stars because it's going to be awkward on set from now on.
You know, you got Kissing Booth, Joey King.
We got Euphoria.
Zendaya, even though him and Zendaya's characters don't even like each other. So that's actually a plus.
They don't have to fake date in the show, which is good. And I think this is good for Kya Gerber.
It clears up the Cara Delavine rumors, though. We thought that Cara Delavine and Kyra were dating for a little bit.
They got matching soulmate tattoos on their feet, and we thought that they were dating.
That seems to not be the case anymore because she's dating Jacob Lerby. They are not friends. They are dating.
Exactly. There's no doubt about it at this point. Maybe they're in denial. We're not in denial. We see it. It's clearly there. And, you know, just another case of two beautiful people dating each other. It's just, it's sick. It's absolutely sickening. Two beautiful, tall, model-esque people dating in New York City. Never seen anything like it. Sickening. I know. The pictures of them, they're like strolling around Soho.
And one of them always has a camera.
And I'm just like, God, I would love to see those pictures.
They're probably taking amazing.
And they're probably taking amazing pictures of each other.
Just like, oh, let me take a picture of you.
You look so good.
Let me take a picture of you.
You look so good.
Yeah.
How do they not want to film each other every second?
Because they always look so good.
Also, I love that Kyah Gerber is like switching up her hair so much.
She had dark hair.
Then she had blonde hair.
Now she has pink hair.
I'm living for it.
I'm like, you go, Kyragerber.
Switch up that hair.
You look fantastic in any hair color that you wear.

The world's most refreshing podcast.
Yes.
We are here with a very special guest,
singer and songwriter Kelsey Valerini.
Welcome to the show.
Hi, you said my name right.
That never happened.
Really?
Really? Really.
What do you meet?
How do people say it?
I get Kelsey.
I get Chelsea, even though there's very not a visible C.H.
I get ballerina often.
Often.
I feel like if there is, yeah, is there some Italian in that last name?
Yes.
Well, you're talking to two Italian chicks.
There we go.
Obviously, we're going to nail ballerini.
Yeah, it's way down the bloodline.
So when people are like, can you speak in Italian?
I'm like, linguine, sort of.
That's like, that's all I got.
Yeah, that's it.
Also, I was going to say that I feel like if you're interviewing somebody, you should know how to pronounce your name.
I mean, we just know who you are in general. That's why I know how to pronounce your name.
But like, doing the pre-check on how to pronounce the name is very important. I didn't do it for you, but I've done it for many people because we had one time where I messed up and it haunts me to this day.
And it was my fault.
And Fran told me how to pronounce it. Yeah.
That's like the same kind of guilt that you feel like one time I was on.
and I said the wrong city name.
Ooh, yeah.
That's tough.
And then the whole city feels a shame.
They're like, she just doesn't care about us.
Yeah, and you're like, I'm sorry.
I just haven't slept.
Yeah, it's a bad feeling.
Yeah, no, I did it to Ria where I was so confident.
Like, I was like, no, it's definitely this.
And she said it and he was like, immediately corrected her.
And I was like, oh, my God, I'm so sorry.
Yeah, I got some sass for it too.
It wasn't even like, oh, oh, this is how my name is pronounced.
It was sassy.
But anyways, anyways.
We got your name right and I'm proud of it.
I want to talk about your new album that's coming out
because it actually pairs with the album that you released in March called Kelsey.
And now you have ballerini coming out Friday, tomorrow, September 11th.
Now, can you explain to us the whole ordeal with this?
Because it's very interesting and I feel like it's not something that I've seen happen before.
Yeah, I think it's a first.
I hope it's a first.
But it honestly just kind of came out of,
like super disappointment to be honest with you like I would love to tell you that it was going to be
the plan all along and it was going to fit together like it looks like it fits together all along but
it's just kind of been this like wonderful silver lining the last few months I put out Kelsey
March 20th and that was like right in the first few weeks of the world shutting down you know and
it was this tug of war of like whether to even release the project or not because I was like
everything that we had plans going to go away. But at the same time, like, I was listening to music
more and more to just, like, ease my anxiety of what was going on. So I kind of thought, like,
I still needed to put it out for people that wanted new music to listen to. So we ended up
putting it out, but, like, you know, everything that we had planned around it was gone. And I, like,
got so bummed and really in my head about it and got to the place where I was like, you know what,
okay, I'm just going to make a new record. Like, that one is what,
it is the timing i can't change what's happening in the world i can't change or i would and i'm just
going to make something else and so i started writing a new record and i was playing some new stuff for
someone really close to me and they were like what are you doing like you just put out this thing
that you worked a year and a half on and you were in love with two months ago like please fall back
in love with this like for the sake of how you were you know like how you felt about it and the
work you put into it and i was like yeah you're right you're absolutely right so i i
I worked with one person.
His name's Jimmy Robbins,
and he's like this wonderful human being
that happens to be brilliant.
And we just like deconstructed this thing
that we had worked really hard
to make how we thought was perfect.
And it was like this super challenge
and it honestly made me fall in love with it like more
and in a different way completely.
And so yeah,
now it like it pairs with Kelsey the album.
And visually it looks like it was meant to have it.
I'm really grateful for.
But no, the truth is it was not meant to happen.
And it just so happened that it happened because of this year and like the timing that is going on.
Yeah.
It's really cool because like you said, you nurtured that Kelsey album so much.
And now you're kind of like deconstructing it and breaking it down, which is really cool.
Because I watched the kind of announcement video and you would say, you know, Kelsey is glitter.
it's more like you know fun and ballerini is emotional and it's two sides of obviously the same person
yeah so with with ballerini like did you know going into it that i mean what as you started to kind of
go through the old songs we're like all right let's make this like a little slower and and more
emotional it's like it's like the artist versus the songwriter kind of it's like Kelsey the album was
made to like tour it was made to like tour it was made to
to sound commercial. It was made to sound country pop. It was made to like fill up big venues,
you know? And this one is made for listening in your living room with a glass of wine or listening
with your friends on a drive. Like it's, it's made for the space that we have right now to listen
differently. And it's the same songs. Like I, song bargaining is my, like, it's the most important
part to me. And I don't know if people know that about me yet, but like it has been since I was 12.
and I wouldn't be an artist if I wasn't a songwriter.
So for me, it was like kind of a flex on the songs to be like,
this was the way that they were going to be like in the planes that we had,
but this is the way it is now.
And it's the same music,
but it's just like reshaped in a way that you can like digest it differently
and kind of rediscover it hopefully.
And another thing that I love about it too is like I've always loved like the country pop sound.
I love blending those like genres.
And that to me means like,
putting programmed sounds with live instruments.
And this is the first project I've ever done where it's,
it's all live, real instruments that were played by humans.
And that, like, that adds a different element to it too, just like sonically.
So, yeah, it's just like, it's like the artist versus the songwriter kind of.
Yeah, you mentioned how you cross over country and pop.
And it's like you are a country artist, but a lot of your songs lean towards pop.
Do you have a plan when it comes to making songs like that?
Or is it just like you're writing the song, you're doing the production for it,
and you're like, you know what, this is meant to be a pop song.
So it's going to be a pop song or it's meant to be a country song.
So it's going to be a country song.
The first two albums I was hyper aware and probably a little scared of leaning too much one way.
But I think this was the first album where I felt like I had invested enough.
into country radio where they knew that that's where my roots are and will always be. And I felt like
I was able to kind of let the songs determine the production for the first time. So like when we were
writing the other girl, which is the song I have with Halsey, we, like, that was the track that we wrote
to. And it was a very pop track. And we never were scared away or beard away from that because that was
that was like the energy in the room and that was the song we were writing and we were getting a
pop star to be on it. You know what I mean? So like that made sense. And I know,
never wanted to discredit what it was meant to be by trying to make it country when it wasn't
meant to live there, you know? But like, I feel like there's more country songs on this album,
too, than I've done before. Like, my current single at country is called Hold in the Bottle,
and it's like a full out country drinking song. And like, I haven't been that far the other way before
either. So this is the first time that I was like, me, I'm just going to let the songs live where
they're meant to live. And like, it's a cool time in music in general where I feel like lines are
blended anyway and
and I don't know I just I think I'm just trusting them to live in their
perspective world yeah I mean I love yeah yes it's a respect yeah I mean yeah I love your
I love your music because it does like cross you can turn on you know we're in New York's
like you know you can turn on Z100 and like hear your song but you could also listen to the
country stations and hear your song and it kind of blends together and like you said
so popular right now I mean Diplo like does like
country music. So it's like it sets you can have that combination. When you first kind of got into
songwriting or you know performing, you kind of thought like, okay, I want to make a career out of this.
Was it more on the pop side or more on like, like did you, were you, did you grow up loving country
music? I grew up on a farm and it's going to see next door to my cousins. So yeah. So yes.
Yes. Yes. Very much so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so even like my first time coming to Nashville, I was like, this is the biggest city ever. You know, like I thought it was so big compared to like where I grew up. And I say farm, but like it was like a big piece of land with three cows and one goat. And so like people in New York are probably like, yeah, that's a farm. But people that actually like, like, functioning farms are like, don't call that a farm. Yeah. But so yeah, I just grew up with a super country lifestyle. And I think that that just translated into my music. But I also like my first thing, like my first thing,
concert was Britney Spears, you know? So yeah, it's always kind of a hybrid, I guess. Yeah, you could do it all. And I feel
like as an artist, that's kind of your job. It's like you just, you songwrite, you make music and wherever it
ends up, it does. And you mentioned that you love songwriting. That is like your passion. You've been doing
it since you were 12 years old. Do you remember the first time you sat down and wrote a song and was it
looking back now, do you think that's still a good song or do you look back and think, what was I doing?
The first song I ever wrote is that it's actually really funny because I forgot it was
Mother's Day, like the next day.
And so I didn't get my mom a gift.
And I was 12.
And I was like, I'm just going to write her song.
She likes music.
This will be great.
And I wrote her the song called Oh, Mama.
Just classic.
Super clever.
And it was like, there was like no form to it.
It was just like, it was all over the place.
And I sang it to her the next day.
And I remember she cried.
and I was like, ha-ha, it was good.
And it wasn't good at all.
But a couple of years later, I was on my first or second tour.
And I was in St. Louis, and it was Mother's Day.
And she was on the bus with me and, like, all my smelly bandmates, like, mom of the year was just, like, coming out to hang for the weekend.
And I rewrote the whole thing.
And I brought her on stage and I played it for.
And I, like, actually tried to make it, like, some sort of a form of a song.
And it was, like, a full circle for both her and I, because, you know,
she moved me to Nashville and I was 15 to like try to do the dancing. And so for her to like be the
reason I wrote my first song and then be able to sing it for her on a stage that like I earned my way
too. It was pretty cool. That is really, really sweet. And I love that it came full circle like that
for the world of you. What is your songwriting process now? Because you know, you've gotten in the groove.
Do you check with other people? Is it just you doing it? It depends on everything. And that's why I love it
much because I I'm like all over the place you can probably tell and I don't like routine like I
like spontaneity and I like when things are different and so um like for me like when you're touring and
stuff like that kind of gets like you get in a routine you're doing a pretty similar show every night
and all that kind of stuff and so songwriting's like the it's the question mark for me it's like you
never know when you're going to get inspired you never know what you're going to write you never
know how it's going to turn out or where it's going to live if it's going to make the album
if it's not, if it's going to be the song that changes your life. Like, you just never know. And I think
to me, that's what's so exciting because you never, like, it's just, it's the question mark. So,
I don't know, like, this last album, it was written all over the place, mostly on the road,
because I was touring so much, mostly on my tour bus, honestly. Um, but like the, the next project, I'm sure
will be a lot more isolated because that's where we're at now. So it just kind of depends. Yeah, yeah.
And I mean, I watched your episode of Songland because I loved Songlands, which is why I like, but I like hearing you talk so much about the songwriting because it does connect so much with obviously what that show was about and Butterlook next time I thought was awesome.
So like there's really like a cool combination there. And it was like the first kind of show that they've ever really focused on the actual on the actual.
writing, what's like, when you hear a song that, um, is written by, you know, someone else,
what is, you, do you have a method on kind of how you tweak it or like, do you just kind of
try and make it sound like yourself? I've only done that twice because I really, I really like to be
like from the ground up idea. Yeah. Yeah. Um, one is song land. One was like next time. Um, and I mean,
the whole point for me going on the show personally, I was like, I want to come out of this with
something that I would have never written. I want to come out of this with a song that would have
never happened if I had not had this show. And so that's why I chose Darius in that song,
because it was like, I love this. This challenges me vocally, but like, let's go, you know.
And that one, I wrote the second verse in the bridge and I got to be involved, but it was his,
you know, it was his baby. Yeah. And the only other time I've done that was a song on this album
called The Way I Used to.
And I was, I had this friend, her name's Steph Jones.
She's an incredible songwriter.
And her voice is like, stupid.
She's so good.
And we were on the way to go right.
And I was like, I'm not in the mood.
Like, I just don't have any idea.
Tanks empty.
Can you just play me some stuff that you've written that you love?
And she played me this demo of this guy singing the chorus of the way I used to.
And it, like, sounded like a beaver track.
And I was like, I don't know what this is.
And I don't know why I feel.
this strongly about it, but I need to be involved in this song. She was like, okay. And so I, like, had
this, like, chorus of a guy Bieber-esque sounding demo. And I was like, how do I make this fit
with the rest of this album? And so we, she, the writers were nice enough to, like, actually let me hop in
and rewrite a lot of it. And, um, and now it's the one that you hear on the album. But this
are the only two times that I've, like, taken an idea that wasn't mine and, like, just involved.
Yeah. And go ahead, Rio.
Brian, go ahead. You were mid. Go, go, go.
Will we ever have an interview where we don't do that? I don't know.
So it's hard when we're not in the same place.
What I was going to say, oh, what I was going to say was this.
Looking back on your Instagram, I did see you know you're like recording in the, you know,
linen closet. Like was, is that how a lot of this new album was,
recorded and you know how I guess involved was your husband and all this because if you need someone
to help and if you were just I'm assuming you were just with him. No I that's when I was working on
what I was saying like earlier like when I was just like I'm going to make a new album like that's what
I was on this whole new project has come together in the last like two months and so I made it
all with one person Jimmy Robbins and then we we went into the studio it was actually really
crazy and there were three musicians and they were all spaced out and wearing masks and like
it was just it was so different than anything else I've experienced but yeah we actually all got in the
room together and masked up and like made the album live okay well that's good at least if you could
safely be there yeah yeah that must feel like does it feel weird at first but then you kind
to get adjusted and you're like all right this is the new normal or is it like weird the whole time
it's weird the whole time I also like I'm such a hugger
Like I, that's like a love language.
I'm like, I want to hug you.
I like, I want to high five you when things sound good.
Like, I just, that's how I want to be involved.
And so I can't even like read people's faces anymore and I don't like it.
Yeah, you don't even know if they're smiling.
Like, they could be just so mad behind that mask and you just have no idea.
Yeah.
And like, do you hate this?
Like, I don't know.
Yeah, yeah.
You also mentioned the song that you did with Halsey, the other girl.
What's your relationship with Halsey?
Because first of all, we love her.
I'm obsessed with her.
And it seems like you guys have such a great friendship now.
Yeah, she's the best.
So I met her when she played Nashville a couple of years ago now.
But I've been a fan of her for years.
Like, I just bought a ticket and went as a fan.
And she found out I was there and invited me backstage afterwards with a couple of my friends that I went with.
And we ended up hanging out until they left to the airport the next day.
Wow.
We became really fast friends.
And I think, you know, like we're around the same age.
like we're just kind of wired the same way in a lot of ways where like we just care a lot about
putting out quality stuff and connecting with people through it and and using our platform for
good and also just being young women like trying to like run a business you know what I mean and do
it well and like not feel like people are doing it for us and all of that stuff like we just clicked
and so anyway I wrote other girl um maybe like a month and a half after we hung
and went to her house and played it for like a month after that.
And then it just made sense, you know, like having two kind of strong women coming together
and telling this story.
It's kind of like a modern day of the boy's mind.
So it just made sense for us to do it.
But yeah, I mean, we hang out and we talk all the time and she's an eight plus human.
I love that.
That's awesome.
I love when we love somebody and then we hear about them and they're like, oh, great person.
I'm like, yes.
I'm nervous because I'm such a.
fan of people, like, truly. And so I get really nervous to meet people because I've been disappointed
before too. And then you're like, dang it, is everyone just rude? And then you're like, oh, no,
you're a good egg. Yes. Yeah. I totally know what you're saying. Obviously, you've met way more people
than we have. But when we interview people and sometimes we get asked to interview people and I really
like them. And I'm like, yes, I want to, but I'm really nervous about what's going to happen. Yeah. Yeah. That's
happened before to me, like, where I just meet people and I'm like, oh, no, I want to go back to not
knowing. Well, good thing, Halsey was an A-plus experience. A-plus. A-plus, A-plus. Exactly. And on
top of that, an amazing song came out of it, which is awesome also. And Kelsey, so another thing that
you have done recently that I loved, this is also obviously pre-COVID, was the comeback stage on the
voice. Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. Which was, I know, you're like, when did I do that? That was decades ago.
What is you talking about?
Yes, because like I said, same thing, kind of like with Songland.
Maybe it's just these NBC competition shows.
I love, I love the voice.
Watch any competition or reality shows, so.
I will watch any competition show, whether it's like the voice, dancing with the stars,
like, you know, world of dance.
They're all at my alley.
But I loved the comeback stage.
And I wanted to know just kind of like what your experience was working with the voice
and what you kind of took away from,
from that. I was so nervous because I mean, that was two years ago. Yeah, yeah. I still feel like
I'm such a new artist. And so I didn't feel like I had the authority to have that position.
But what I ended up coming to terms with was like, there are the four coaches and they are
seasoned superstars. And then what I could offer was like the inside of a new artist. And like,
I was able to talk to them through the lens of like, this is what you're going to be walking through
in the next two years versus like when you have 18 hits and you're like Kelly Clarkson,
you know? So as soon as I like settled in myself with that and was like,
you deserve to be here and this is what you can offer, I was I was cool with that.
Because I mean, it's being an artist is so fun and so rewarding, but it's so weird.
And I think to be able to have people to talk to that can like help walk you through that.
Like I'm so grateful for the, especially the women in music that have been able to like give me
insight off the record off camera that like yeah put me through this because it's there are times
we were like what am I doing or like how do I handle that you know and just to have people that can be like
let me just tell you how I did it it's awesome so I kind of felt like I was able to step into those shoes
a little bit and I'd do it again I had fun what do you think the weirdest part about being an artist is
I don't even know if you can name one weirdest but like name something that would would
us and normies just wouldn't even get.
I mean, well, and it's also weird because I'm not,
I'm like not famous at a level like other people either.
I just, I don't know.
It's just some days you're just like, this is weird.
And then some days I'm like, oh, never mind.
No, it's not.
And then the next year, like, this is weird again.
It just depends.
Yeah, I feel like, you know, you have so many fans.
And so that will hit you.
You're like, oh, people are out there talking about me.
and they're a fan of my music.
And then, yeah, so, like, I could see how that, you know,
you need somebody in the industry who's going to guide you
because otherwise you don't really know what's going on.
Like, the most embarrassing and, like, huh moment for me was I went on this trip with my husband
who, like, I never saw until this year.
Like, we were just always, like, ships passing in the night.
And so we had to, like, schedule all our time together, and we went to Mexico.
And let me tell you something.
When I go on vacation, I'm not one of those.
people that's like, I'm going to, like, eat really well.
So I looked in this bikini.
Like, let's go.
It's vacation.
Chicken tenders.
Margaret's bowl.
Right.
I was going to say, frozen drinks.
Another fish bowl.
Like, that's how I am.
And so I looked a little bloated.
There was, I guess, a photographer down there.
And they're the worst photos I've ever seen of myself ever in my life, ever.
Like, they couldn't be worse.
And so we were like on the beach enjoying ourselves.
And then it popped up on my phone.
And I was like,
and like didn't know how to handle it.
Like those are the weird things where you're like, oh yeah, this isn't normal.
But again, like I deal with it on the tiniest little scale compared to like palsy or whoever else.
So yeah, I am not waiting at all.
No, no.
And that's also a funny thing too because it's like, hello, I'm just on my, I'm having a good time on my vacation.
I'm trying to drink.
Yeah, I'm trying to make me bloated.
It's just not now.
Do it later.
Yep.
And they really just probably come out of nowhere.
Like, you don't even know what's happening.
I didn't know what happened.
Yeah.
And is it crazy, like, living in Nashville because I feel like obviously the, it's the center
of country music.
So it's probably where you are, I would think, recognize the most compared to, you know,
other places.
Because, you know, even, and this is what you're saying, like, comparing yourself to, you know,
Halsey, like, where I'm thinking, Ria and I, like, compare, I'm like, compare.
I'm like comparing it to, to like you, where it's like, well, when we go out in New York,
which is where we live, like, sometimes people know who we are, but if we go somewhere else,
they're like, no one cares about you guys.
Yeah, and country music is such a niche, too.
Like, and I've gotten to cross a couple times, like, I'm still in, like, a pod.
You know what I mean?
So, yeah, I mean, Nashville's a thing, but I also love it when people come up to me.
Like, I really do, and I tell people that all the time.
Like, I would so much rather give you, like, a bear hug and you tell me about the break.
gut that you just went through and cry and let's hug it out, then it'd be weird or you feel like
you can't. Right, like taking a picture from across the room. Yeah, no, I don't like it. So yeah,
I just going, is that her? Is that her? They're just whispering. It's weird. So yeah, I'd always
much rather just like hear about something story. Yeah, yeah. Well, so if you're listening and you're
a fan of Kelsey and you see her say hi, but, you know, safely. Yeah, but also be safe. Yeah, but also
be safe about it because we're living in some strange times.
I want to see my dog's being right now.
Oh my God.
Hello.
Cute.
You just looking at me like, mom?
What?
I don't know if you guys heard my dog's been barking the whole time.
I had to mute myself a couple of times because he's like crying so much.
Well, your album, like we said, ballerini comes out tomorrow and everyone can listen to Kelsey right now,
ballerini tomorrow.
Do you have a plan, like a rollout plan or are you just doing the Zoom?
It sucks because I feel like with Kelsey you thought the same thing.
Like we can't really do it.
anything and then you just put out another album. I know, I know. I'm doing a lot of, a lot of
zooms and fun stuff like that. My birthday is the next day, so I think I'm just going to be like
maybe having some wine. Oh, my fellow Virga lady, I'm the 20th. Yeah. Amazing. Yeah, same to you.
Yeah, same to you. So yes, like Ria said, ballerini out tomorrow. It's going to be available, you know,
wherever you listen to your music or stream your music, go buy the album. Thank you, Kelsey,
so much for coming on Zoom with us. Anytime. Hopefully, we'd be in New York one time.
That'd be fun. Yes. That would be so much fun. I hope so. And then we can, you know,
we'll go full hole in the bottle and, like, have a nice wine ready for you. Let's go.
All right. Thank you so much. That wraps up today's episode of Chicks in the Office. We hope you have a
fantastic weekend. Just a reminder, go to store.barsuelsports.com. Get all that new chicks in the office
merch, too bad sweatshirts, tie-dye sets, tie-dye shirts, sweatshirts, whatever it is, you name it.
We have it. Check it out. And once again, have a fantastic weekend. And we'll talk to you guys on
Monday.
I don't want to keep you waiting
I hope I never keep you waiting
I think I know it all
but I don't
While you always at the mall
When you broke
And I just want a ball
Maybe don't, but I've never been tall
On my trip I never fought
God knows I came close
I know I probably need to do
Better fuck whoever
keep my shit together
you never told me being rich
was so lonely
nobody know me
hard to complain from this
five-star hotel
I'm always
in a rush
we've been thinking so much
but keep it on a hush
no one needs to know justice
really all it takes
don't need nothing but today
the world is so small
till a day
till a day
I'm building up a wall
I'll celebrate
I hate it when I call
I let his leg
I don't want to keep you waiting
I hope I'll never keep you waiting
For shame I get wrong
So slow speeds
We beat the game you're in my veins
I'm below freezing snow
They know that I so need my space
Don't want to grow old
So I smoke just a dress
She say that I grow below the waist
If I stroke is just old PGA
All I got is
A little bit of space in time
Draws shifts in lines of the world
But I swear it's going to be worth that if I may
In a lot of it takes
But don't need nothing but to do
The world is so small
Tillet
Tillet
Tillet
I'm building up a wall
Televary
Delibre
Delibre, deliberate, delivery
She hate it when I call
That it's late
I don't want to keep you waiting
I hope I'll never keep you waiting
Nine times out of ten I get it wrong
That's why I wrote this song
Tell myself to hold on
I can feel my fingers slipping
And the motherfucking is to not be gone
Do you want it all if it's all mediocre
Staring at the wall and the wall
Full of posters
Looking at my dreams
Who I want to be.
I guess you've got to see it to believe.
Oh, I've been a fool, but it's cool.
That's what human beings do.
Keep your eyes to the sky, never glowed to your shoes.
Guess there was a time when my mind was consumed,
but the sun coming out now, now clouds start to move.
Don't tell me nothing but the truth.
I'm tired, I don't got a spare second.
When I lose, when I lose, I don't keep counting.
Nobody check me.
You know.
